Alright! More VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST!

Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Valkyrian%20Mercs%20Quest
Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/ntWhpzAW

Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles

You are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home.

You've arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact, which you repaired and rechristened the Vergeltung.

After rooting out several Imp spy rings and fighting off an Imperial amphibious invasion by defeating their leader, Belkan Knight Sir Fleisher, you've decided that it's now time to move on to greener (or at least more profitable) pastures. You and the Demons left Albion for the besieged nation of Ustio, with new gear and squad members in tow.

Your first mission went well enough, routing a platoon of Imperial soldiers threatening the city of Valais' supply lines. Then you destroyed an Imperial superheavy artillery battery, taking pressure off the city's beleaguered defenders and giving them a chance to counterattack. You also took care of a personal mission for Qyburn, and in return, he's given you a new and powerful (if only experimental) weapon!

Now, you're left to decide what to do with a prisoner you've taken on your most recent mission.

After some much needed rest, the first thing you do in the morning is to head for the base lockup while Sam goes off to submit your report to Freyburg.

While the Federation does have a rather sizable bounty on Elsa Konig, the prisoner you captured on yesterday's mission, you're not too sure whether you want to hand her over to Freyberg just yet. After all, she's a pretty high ranking Imperial Ace, and it's a rare opportunity to capture one alive.

You enter the lockup and walk past the Ustian guards posted there, returning their salutes. You walk down to Elsa's cell, where Tarin and Isolde are standing guard. You also see Elizabeth present, as expected.

"Ah, Captain, you're finally here!" Elizabeth salutes. "We're just wondering what you plan on doing with Elsa here."

>Let's hand her over to Freyberg for the bounty.

"Let's ask her a few questions. No harm in that, right?" You say.

"Absolutely." Elizabeth nods. She's done this song and dance number before.

You look inside the cell, and see Elsa glumly sitting on her cot like a bored child. She got some medical attention last night for her injuries, so her right shoulder is in a sling and her cheek is slightly bruised from the blow she took from Tarin.

"Ah, the infamous Captain Jager Sturmfuhrer." Elsa says, her speech a bit slurred, her eyes unfocused. Obviously under the effects of some kind of painkiller. "And what would a humble soldier like me have done to earn your attention?"

>What do you want to ask?
>>
>>25330655
"I have come to fill your every hole with my seed. You can either give it willingly, or I can take it."

>"So, then. What do you think is going to happen to you now, hmm?"
>>
>>25330655
"Let's just cut to the chase. You have information about the imperials tactics, and I am going to get that information. Whether you are still in good health at the end is entirely up to you."

The army shouldn't have reasons to torture her if we get the info from her beforehand.
>>
>>25330655
>"Shot me twice in the chest, that's what."

One thing we might ask, is about any Belkan Knights.
>>
>>25330655
"Well, you shot me twice, so that pretty much caught my attention."
>>
>>25330655

"You killed 40 men, and tried to make me your 41st."
>>
>>25330655
>what would a humble soldier like me have done to earn your attention?

"Well you managed to shoot me, twice. Credit where credit is due, that was impressive."

Ask about troop dispositions, if there is a Belkan Knight active on this front, you know the drill.

>>

"You shot me in the chest. Twice. That usually gets a man's attention."

"....ah, that's true. I hope you don't hold it against me. Just doing my job, after all." Elsa shrugs as best she can.

"Now, I'm sure you're wondering what's going to happen to you now. I know I am." You continue. "So I wanted to get your opinion on the matter."

"Well, if you're just going to hand me over to the Ustians. You might as well just shoot me, save us all a whole lotta trouble." Elsa grumbles. "I know guys with bodycounts double or triple mine, but they just slaps on the wrists because 'they're just doing their jobs'. But me? Nope, I'm a disgusting war criminal. Fucking unfair, if you ask me."

"So, what do you think is going to happen to you now?"

"Well, considering you haven't tossed me to the Ustian sharks, you want intel from me? Well, you're not getting it free. I want some guarantees."

Jager likes collecting friends.

Also, a new sniper buddy for Alek won't hurt.
>>
>Okay. Let's hear your demands.

I wasn't aware that sniping was exactly a war crime. Her style wasn't exactly nice but I don't see how it'd cross that line.
>>
>>25331126
"Well considering the Ustian bounty is just shy of 8 Grand which covers my team's expenses for at least another few months I think you've got a good some catching up to do first. I'm not exactly in a hurry to get what I want here and making it worth the time is in your own interest, afterall I could be off enjoying a few months of down time already instead of waiting for you to spill the beans and then risk my team's collective necks on another mission out there.
So go ahead, the balls in your court sniper, you don't get a good angle on a target by sitting in a bell tower waiting for them to move afterall"

down time? I don't think Jager would be content just to sit on his ass even with that much money. Though he would see if the team wants a small break.
>>
>>25331126
...She's giving us demands?

Hardly in a position to be doing that luv'. I'm assuming here that Jager isn't above ordering 'rough' interrogation tactics, especially on Imperials who have shot him?
>>

>>25331286
Isn't the bounty like 4K? We could get more just selling her intel to 3-4 different nations.

>>25331382
Rough tactics typically lead to the person lying or clamping up. While if she thinks she is doing something that will help her she will give more freely. Lets not make her dislike us early on in this.
>>
>>25331126
>>Okay. Let's hear your demands.
>>
>>25331463

No, that's for the mission. The bounty is separate, I think.
>>
Oh yeah! Finally in time to catch one of this. I'm gonna participate the hell out of this one
>>
>>25331126
"Go ahead." You say, narrowing your eyes. "But just remember, the Ustian bounty is just shy of 8 Grand which covers my team's expenses for at least another few months I think you've got a good some catching up to do first. I'm not exactly in a hurry to get what I want here and making it worth the time is in your own interest, afterall I could be off enjoying a few months of down time already instead of waiting for you to spill the beans and then risk my team's collective necks on another mission out there.

So go ahead, the balls in your court sniper, you don't get a good angle on a target by sitting in a bell tower waiting for them to move after all"

Elsa is silent for a few seconds, as if mulling over what she thinks she can get out of you.

"Okay, since you put it out so bluntly, I just have two conditions. First, if you ever do put me in a Federation POW camp, I want to be put in with the general population. Don't give me that look, I know you guys love confusing 'sniping' with 'war crimes'."

"I think I can put in a good word for you with General Freyberg." You say. "And your second condition?"

For the first time Elsa gives a rather devious grin. "I'd like an audience with the sniper that put a bullet in my shoulder."

"Oooooh, that's an easy one. The Indigo Heron rolled down here a few weeks ago. Started reorganizing everything and all off a sudden we were making some pretty good headway. Never really liked him much, though. Always thought my line of work was 'dishonorable' and 'disgusting'."

"And any idea where I can find him?"

I just love how we're screwing with Alek's love life in the most amusing ways.

No seriously, I do.
>>
>>25332715
who said anything about screwing with him? maybe we're trying to get the three of them together?
>>
>>25332697
In ace combat zero he was he was also sounded like a prick.
>>
>>25332740

'Screwing' was perhaps the wrong word to portray my feelings on this matter, is 'Encourage' a better one?
>>

>>
>>25332742
>he was also sounded like a prick.
Wow I need to stop drinking and posting.
>>
>>25332742
Oh well. i uess we're going to need our duelling sabres. Or maybe duelling fists. Probably fists.
>>
>>25332807

Or an Isolde.
>>
>>25332807
If we do duel him i say we go with either the pistols or the sabers change things up a bit
>>
>>25332845
But then how will we continue to build the legend of the KNIGHT PUNCHER?
>>
>>25332865
sabers and pistols are one handed weapons we still have our fist in the other
>>
>>25332865
A saber duel is still pretty fucking cool.
>>
>>25332865
coup de grace by throwing away the weapon and punching him in the face. or groin.
>>
>>25332865
It's a build up. First is fists, then sabers, followed by pistols. The final duel will of course be pistols that shoot flaming sabers followed by beating each other up on top of something appropriatly flaming and big.
>>
>>25332893
What we do is have a pistol in one hand and saber in the other. We then proceed to punch the crap out of him while still holding on to both.
>>
>>25332943
Followed by glorious hatesex with Karla as Belka declares Independence?
>>
>>25332969
While on fire.
Belka, that is.
>>
>>25332991

>>
Alright, let's see what Elsa thinks of Alek.
>>
>>25332969
It would be glorious hate/makeup/thank-you sex. All of them. At the same time. Jaeger wouldn't be able to get out of bed for months.
>>
>>25332845

Would rather not duel him at all. The red swallow was more a "Oh shit lets see if he will go for it fuck" Moment. If possible I would rather just mortar him in the face.
>>
>>25333157
Don't you mean Karla won't be able to get out of bed for months? Ha.
>>
>>25333173
>mortar him in the face.
We should see about getting some Type 89 Grenade Dischargers (aka Japanese Knee Mortars).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_89_grenade_discharger
>>
>>25333173
Ditto, Jaeger is an honorable man, but not above doing what is necessary. If the Belkan shows himself on the field of battle, we'd unload upon him. If he challenges us, we would accept, with plans for if it's a double cross.
>>
>>25333252
>Japanese Knee Mortars
And so many allies broke their bones with that thing.
>>
Inb4 Karla turns out to be a Valkyira.
>>
>>25333237
Both of them probably couldn't walk. I also imagine Jaeger looking like he was attacked by some kind of big cat.
>>
>>25333259

Can't we just get Isolde to duel him?

I mean we really should help her reclaim her honor.
>>
Well... Judging by the Ace Combat Zero influence, and the name of the Belkan Knights... We probably ARE going to end up engaging each Knight in some way.

Could be a fist-fight, could be sabers... hell it could even be a tank fight.
>>
OP still here?
>>
>>25333324
In the case or our good friend Erik Schnee, it'll be a tank fight, followed by a gun fight, followed by a saber fight, followed by fisticuffs atop the wreckage of our tanks (which of course are mangled together because one of us decided to end the first phase with a ramming maneuver).
>>

"Alek, we need you to come down the lockup right away." You say in your radio.

"Uh, right away, sir!" Alek says.

Poor kid, you think to yourself. He has no idea what he's in for.

It's a few minutes before Alek finally arrives, slightly out of breath.

"What's this about, Captain?" Alek asks.

"The prisoner has asked to see you." You say, trying to keep a straight face.

"See me?"

"Yeah." You shrug. "Can't imagine why."

"Uh, h-hello there, you said you wanted to see me?" Alek says, standing in front of the cell.

"Aaaah, I knew it. You're from the eastern wildlands, aren't you? Always ballsy motherfuckers, the way you easterners hunt." Elsa smiles. "Don't give a shit about escape routes or contingencies. You either get your prey or it gets you."

"I-I guess?" Alek says, unsure of where this conversation was going.

"You know, after all these years, I've got hit with a lot of shit. Mortar shells, shrapnel, automatic gun fire, mines, the works. But never, NEVER was I ever hit by an enemy sniper..." Elsa suddenly lunges forward, grabs Alek by the collar, and pulls him against the bars of the cell, where she begins to assault him with a very VERY passionate kiss."

"Okay, that's enough!" You say, trying not to laugh and pulling Alek away from the bars.

"She... she used her TONGUE!" Alek gasps.

"Hey, Easty, if you ever end up back in the Empire, try giving the Cloden province a visit!~" Elsa coos as Isolde and Tarin usher Alek out.

"Okay, you've pretty much just traumatized my sniper, possibly for life. You'd better give me something good."

"Well," Elsa grins as she sits back on her cot. "I can tell you right now, the Imps are ramping down their offensive. Like the Federation, they consider this whole Ustian thing to be a sideshow to the main front. Supply shortages mean they can't maintain operations at their current level."

"Go on." You nod.

I'm... still uncertain that offering an *Imperial* a job is something Jaeger would do.

I mean, I think we should ask why she refers to Imperials like that, but at the end she's still from that country and I doubt Jaeger's going to be fond of her.

... Plus, it's possible she's from the Belkan part of the Empire. And thus sees herself more as Belkan rather than Imperial. That would do it. And would also mean Jaeger would still dislike her because, well, Belkan.

I've always had the impression that Jaeger hates the idea of the Imps, not necessarily every individual person who's an Imp citizen/soldier. Plus we are still rather confused on the whole Karla thing.
>>
>>25334159
True, but I'd wager that if he thought she could be turned, Jager wouldn't turn down another badass sniper in the ranks.

And its not like we aren't already employing ex-Imps. She doesn't strike me as a patriot. If I had to guess, she fights because its all she knows, and she's good at it. We offer her a sweet deal and I doubt she would particularly care who she's shooting.

I may be wrong though, which is why we ask using our powerful words.
>>
is Jager the only one with the "Imp hater" trait?
>>
>>25334253
Well, she's basically in the army because some prince said: "Hey, you're damn good, you're working for me now". It's in her backstory.
>>
>>25334214

I... think "unreasonable" is probably the word I'd use for his dislike, actually.

It's personal for him because the invaded HIS country *and* burnt HIS family lands down.

It's very much an emotional and visceral thing.

Hell, he became a mercenary BECAUSE he wanted to keep fighting the Empire!

>>25334253
>I may be wrong though, which is why we ask using our powerful words.

Seriously, captured snipers were NOT treated well in that time period, and we feel bad about turning someone who's just a soldier, same as us, over to face that.
>>

It's... it'd make for one hell of an explosion though. Makes me shudder thinking about it...

I figured that ideally (ideally!), we'd sneak in there, knock people out and drag them out, and set it off. Or capture it, get everyone out, and set it off.

"Just blow it up" is a possibility though... One I'm not sure how I feel about though.
>>
>>25334300
She's all but defected already.

Shit, she gave up important operational details for nothing more than our promise to put in a good word (we would have NO authority after we hand her over, they could just choose not to listen to us and do whatever with he) and a single kiss.

If this intel is true, it proves beyond a reasonable doubt that she won't hesitate to dick over the Empire if its in her best interests to do so.
>>
>>25334469
I think actually Talking with her opened up more options too.
She Knew Karla, and was outspoken against treatment against our countrymen, which is why she's on the run.
That intial spar, even though we came at her hard, it was a learning thing for Jager, telling. We dont Hate her.
>>
>>25334531
>Makes me shudder thinking about it...

Are you fucking kidding me? IT SHALL BE GLORIOUS!
>>
>>25334504
As much I loved FE... That was my biggest issue with it. After the first run of saving/recruiting name characters second run was 'What's that? You're rolling with the enemy? That's cool... have a sword to the face."
>>
>>25334548
We have yet to confirm any of the information she has given.
>>
>>25334409
Well, there was a precedent in the games where potentials could change if a character was given enough development. Yes, Jager started off as an Imp Hater, like any human, there is room for change.

>>25333943
"That's all for now." You say.

"Well, that was a refreshing talk." Elsa sighs, leaning back.

"Actually, I have another question." You continue. "A personal one, this time. I notice you keep saying "Imperials" and not "we/us" like I would expect a soldier to refer to their side as. And you gave up all this info pretty easy."

"Yeah, well, it's a job." Elsa shrugs. "Honestly? I'd rather be back home, hunting big game. People are so damn predictable, it's boring. Ever try hunting three bears with two bullets? THAT'S a thrill."

"Yeah, well the report on you said you were recruited by an Imperial Prince."

"You believe that shit? When a goddamn Imperial Prince 'asks' you to join his entourage, you think you can just say 'no' to that? He might as well have just kidnapped me." Elsa sighs. "Well, I just rolled with it and made the best of it."

"I've been thinking that once we leave Ustio, I should look in to finding Alek a sniper buddy to keep him company. Poor guy is all alone in the role. Just something to think about..."

"Sounds better than a POW camp." Elsa shrugs, though you can tell she's trying to feign disinterest.

---

Leaving the lockup, you run into Sam.

"Oh, hey there Cap, I was just looking for you!" She says. "Freyberg's handling the payment for our mission right now, though he wants to know if we're going to be turning Elsa over.

"Actually, I was thinking she might be of some use to us." You say. "She may be and Imp, but she's good at what she does. I need your opinion on this."

Good thing we've got a secure personal submarine with a brig, and a Fuel depot to check out.

They start a fuss? Fed has a bigger bounty on her head elsewhere, we're bringing her there to cash in. True? Maybe, but there's loads of ports to call in where someone would slip away. Or we could doll her up like a man, classic.
>>
>>25334538

Don't really think jager would care about the troops to be honest. He is a merc when you get down to it and just wants to find karla and kill imps. At the same time he knows not to be cruel to possible defectors. Can't see him hiring her no but I can see him making sure she isn't tortured or anything. For the bullets she is just doing her job same as him.

Hence why we don't recruit her immediately.

Nobody is advocating just opening up the cell and handing her a rifle. We verify it first. If it turns our she did in fact betray the Empire for personal gain then we're good to go, she'll make a fine merc. If not then we hand her over and collect the bounty.

I don't think it's too far out of Jaeger's character. I mean, we have Alek, who is imperial, but we don't care about that since he has no loyalty to them. If this girl's story checks out then she'd be in the same boat as him.

Don't really think it is Out of character to check up on her history a bit and see if we can do a defection. Jager is a people person and does realize how useful a morale victory and the like would be if she defected. On the other hand I Think it will take a hell of a long time for him to trust her in any real way. But he also wouldn't want someone just doing there job to be tortured or killed for it.

Be a different story if it was obvious she believed in the imperial ideals. Then he would toss her away right then and there. She isn't acting like one though. So I think he would check and give her a chance just because of how he is.

GEAR:

Gallian-A Rifle - 1000
Modified with a water cooling jacket, the Gallian-A is quite a bit heavier than the standard Gallian-1, but allows for a much faster firing rate.

Gallian-S - 1000
A rifle with an extended barrel, increasing accuracy and range.

Theimer Anti-tank Lance - 1000
A lance specialized to take down armor. Improved accuracy and armor penetration, but incompatible with frag rounds.

Mags M10 - 1000
The addition of a water cooled barrel to this SMG vastly improves fire rate and stopping power.

Flamethrower Attachment - 1000
A portable flamethrower that can be added on to most submachine guns, which can lay down a stream of destructive ragnite flames. Shocktroopers only.

Rifle Grenade Attachment - 1000
A modification for rifles that allows them to fire grenades over much larger distances. Scouts only.

Antipersonnel Mine - 1000
A simple mine that can be planted anywhere to act as a booby trap.

Howitzer Team - UPKEEP: 600
Mercenaries armed with a 105mm howitzer that can provide long range fire support.

R&D

Spiderweave Armor (PROTOTYPE) - 1200
Constructed out artificial fibers several times stronger than steel, this cloth armor provides superior protection to standard Scout armor with no additional weight.

Starlight Scope (PROTOTYPE) - 1000
An experimental scope that can be fitted on any sniper rifle. Has an alternate setting that can be used to improve night vision, though picture quality is still rather poor.

War Emergency Power (PROTOTYPE) - 2000
By disabling the mechanical limiters built into vehicle engines as well as injecting more efficient coolant directly into the engine, total horsepower is nearly doubled. However, has a high chance of damaging said engines.

ATR (PROTOTYPE) - 2000
A high powered anti-material rifle. Uses a massive .50 caliber armor piercing round capable of piercing lightly armored vehicles and structures.

High Velocity Armor Piercing Ammo - 1500
Specialized AP ammo that trades out the standard steel penetrator with tungsten, vastly increasing armor penetration with minimal change in weight. However, tungsten is a rare resource, so equipping HVAP increases a vehicle's upkeep by 200.

Gallian-S - 1000

Scouts with higher ACC

Flamethrower Attachment - 1000

Shock troopers able to burn foes fuel and supplies if we reach it and demoralizing.

ATR (PROTOTYPE) - 2000

More anti-tank goody.

Howitzer Team - UPKEEP: 600

Unlikely to go though but would let us use mortars and Howizers and the Bomb Q made. Letting us shell with much higher efficiency each battle.

Is my thoughts.
>>
>>25336043
4chan in general has a soft spot/throbbing boner of "One Man Wrecking Crew" types of characters. Snipers pretty much personify that ideal. To a lesser extent, scouts and stormtroopers fit that bill too.
>>
>Mags M10 - 1000
The addition of a water cooled barrel to this SMG vastly improves fire rate and stopping power.

I'd rather increase general effectiveness as opposed to blowing massive wads of cash on things that might not be used much in the next mission.
>>
May I make a suggestion? Why not, before we buy any money at all, put 10% of our income into a savings account? That way the money will already be in savings before we start spending money, and we won't be tempted to blow it all.

>>25336095

Be about 2500 Upkeep. and I think we get a minimal of about 3000 per mission. On the other hand it would be a lethal as hell combo and maximizes our assault abillity. But I wouldn't mind if people didn't go for the Howitzers. Still the odds of us failing a mission if we can literally bomb someone like 7 times a mission is low.
>>
>>25336135
No, like, water cooling is heavy as balls. The entire point of an SMG is to be light, mobile, and compact.
>>
>>25336133
yeah, I though the point of an SMG was to be light and rapid fire. Adding in water makes it less portable.
>>
Here's an idea, what if we invest our earnings into opening business that will make us money? Businesses in war torn areas where there will likely be very little competition.

>>
>>25336156

Useful. Now we can at least use Alek for some good night sniper missions and he can use his better viewpoints to warn us.

Still next time we get some money we should really buy weapons upgrades for the squad I kind of want higher hit rates.
>>
>>25336218
In the words of George Takei "Oh my..."
>>
>>25336156
You suppose the best thing you could to make up for subjecting Alek to sexual molestation at the hands of Elsa is to get a shiny new rifle for him. Fortunately, Qyburn had just finished a monster of a rifle capable of knocking out even tanks under the right circumstances. You even bought that "nightvision" scope he was always bragging about.

You decide to try and get a new mission from Freyberg. Returning to his office, you see him again at his battle map, contemplating his next move.

"Actually, I just got some intel from our prisoner." You say, pointing to a spot on Freyberg's map. "According to her, there's a huge Imperial fuel depot just north of Sniper Town. Apparently, it contains the majority of the Imps' fuel, so neutralizing it would cripple them pretty bad.

"Hm, yes, we suspected that might have been the case." Freyberg nods. "That would be Solis. It's a town with a huge ragnite refiinery."

"Really?" You ask. "Why wasn't it ever destroyed? One good artillery barrage and it's a massive inferno."

"Well, that's the problem." Freyberg sighs. "What makes Solis effective as a fuel storage facility was that it used to be a massive salt mining complex. After the salt ran out, the town converted the empty mines into storage tanks. The ragnite storage tanks are protected by dozens of meters of solid rock."

"There has to be a way to take it out." You say.

"Well, there is..." Freyberg frowns. "You'd have to physically enter the mines and set off the fuel from the inside."

"That sounds... mighty dangerous."

"And a bit suicidal." Freyberg sighs. "What's even worse is that my superiors in Directus want me to take Solis intact. Strategic resources and all that."

>That's freaking stupid.

That's not understandable. You're risking way too many lives for a depot. The risk simply isn't worth it. You can always rebuild whatever you blow up. Yes it eats time but fuck you can't get back the lives you lose in doing this.
>>
>>25336483
>Understandable.

So all the actual strategic resources are safely underground?

Which mean that, hypothetically, we could drop a fuck-huge bomb right on the Imp's heads and we wouldn't risk setting off the valuable valuable fuel?
>>

>>
>>25336483

>>
>>25336559
>expendable grunts
Bullshit. Throwing away lives to take something that should just be blown to hell and back... what are they Soviets? At least they had to man power to pull something like that off. I doubt anyone on the Feds can.
>>
>>25336483
"that's quite stupid, if we attacked this place with all our forces, and we'd need too to capture it, the imps would just go into hiding inside the old mines and good luck digging them out. but superiors usually only see the numbers, in their situation I might have made the same call... mmmmh how to do this? are those mines only connected to the city or do they have old forgotten entries? because if they do we can get in and take them in a pincer move"
>>
>>25336548
>vanguard

The amount of fuel though would make it far easier to move any tanks they have though. Rebuilding can take Months on end and possibly years depending on the scale of the place.
>>
>>25336577

Literally the only reason the Feds can compete with the Imperials despite their sheer incompetence is because of their economic superiority and vast reserves of manpower.
>>
>>25336596
And it could take years to replace the soldiers you lose in this attack.
>>
>>25336605
Can you safely say the same for Ustio? They might be rich but based off the start this little campaign here, didn't sound like they had a ton of troops to be throwing away.
>>
>>25336483
[x] Stupid AND completely logical. Sounds right up our alley.
>>
>>25336625

I think Ustio might have only money.

Which makes their priorities here make sense -- they're fighting back the Imperials using money, so of course they'd keep money in mind.
>>
>>25336483
>"That's both stupid and understandable."
>>
>>25336625
Why do you think we're here...
>>
>>25336606

Depends on the amount. Right now it looks like they are mainly using mercs for stuff like this and they have been able to stall the offensive of 400K some imperials with some Special Ops help so there not low on numbers.

Not saying it is a good thing. But you can looking at a top down military view justify a lot of death for enough fuel to power the tanks the imperials are using. On the other hand we have no idea just how dug in they really are. At a certain point it does become better to just blow the joint up.
>>
>>25336652
So every trained solider they have is wroth their weight in gold. The amount of war materiel they be throwing away would most likely ended costing them more.

>>25336673
To make money and not be stupid about it...

Read capturing this depot is beyond stupid when simply blowing it up is safer and more effect option.
>>
>>25336673

>>25336691
Think of it like this: what is being defended is a non-renewable resource. Something you have in short supply. Would you trade something you have a lot of for it? Yes. Sadly, the resources we are talking about are lives, which in the end are perfectly renewable.
>>
>>25336691
You can arm-chair general all you want, at the end of the day we don't know the full strategic picture of this combat theater, and even if we did, we wouldn't be the one's calling the shots.

If Ustian Military Command wants to throw three regiments of men at re-taking this strategic point, then that's their prerogative.

"Sounds tough."

"Incredibly."

As you go your separate ways, you return back to the testing area where all the teachers are gathered. However, the problem is that they're all sitting atop a raised set of bleachers. There are a bunch of students sitting up there as well, but he faculty are clearly in their own reserved section.

We're Class Z, and our job is to figure out stuff like this this. We'd be a disgrace to Sis, and Jager, if we didn't go into any situation already knowing everything we needed to know.

I have an idea for a better name. We have to honor those we respect, correct? We'll unofficially try to get known as the Demon Spawn.

You suddenly get the idea to try and ask one of the teachers over, but they're too busy observing the trainee matches below to pay any attention to you. However, you DO attract the attention of the guards, who shoo you away. Obviously this was a TEACHERS ONLY gathering.

So you default to plan B to try and sneak your way into the teacher section. You notice there's an empty space under the bleachers that nobody has really been paying attention to. Well, except for a few students who wanted a bit of... privacy. Making sure nobody was looking, you discreetly slide down into the underside of the bleachers, making sure to stick to the shadows. Hopefully none of the guards decide to look down...

But that's the point, it's safer and saner to shoot enemy aces full of holes or just blow them to bits. Not fight them one on one or tackle them from a second story window. We don't have the world's best role models.

"Hmmm, nobody terribly impressive. They all seem rather luckluster compared to the promise Subject 6 showed..."

"You will refer to him as Leon Hardins. He deserves at least that much respect." The Headmaster tuts harshly.

"...my apologies, Headmaster." The scientist says, not sounding sorry at all. "However, Team 7 showed some amount of promise. Especially with that student with the mask."

"I must point out that she is a Darcsen."

"Pity, that means she'll be incompatible. How about the others?"

"Novak got to them first. They're in his class now."

"I don't see why you give that man so much leeway in this school." The scientist complains.

"The man saved my life. It's the very least I can do for him. Besides, he has the same amount of freedom within the school you do."

"Debatable."

"Now you're acting like a spoiled child. There are more students ready to be tested."

"I think I've seen enough." The scientist gets off and walks away.

"That woman..." The Headmaster shakes his head.

You decide to look for Mac first. You already now Artya's in the library, so you might as well get the harder task done with first. However, finding Mac wasn't quite as hard as you feared. All you had to do was tail the Class A girls, and sure enough, you see Mac trying to woo that lead bully that was messing with Artya earlier today.

"Awwww, come on, Juliana!" Mac pleads. "Someone like you must've heard about Class Z!"

"I've heard nothing of the sort!" Juliana huffs. "And it's Miss Everheart to you! Commoners should not be speaking to me on a first name basis!'

"I know you like playing hard to get, but seriously, I need to know this!"

Juliana then snaps her fingers, and two rather burly looking Class A students materialize behind Mac.

"Please get rid of this riffraff. I don't care how, but show him his place." Juliana says before striding off.

"It looks like you made our class chair angry." One of the goons says.

"We should teach you a lesson." The other one comments.

"Hey now guys, I don't exactly swing that way..." Mac laughs nervously, backing away to a more advantageous position.

"What's going on here!!?" You see a brown haired teacher with squinty eyes stride into the hall. "Not a fight, I hope."

"Nothing sir. Just showing the freshman the ropes." One of the goons mumbles.

"Well, you'll just have to find time later. Lunch break is almost over. Don't you have class to get back to?"

The goons, defeated, grumble and walk off, giving Mac a vindictive glare. With the main attraction interrupted, the other students begin to disperse.

The teacher, his job done, nods to Mac and leaves him and you to your separate ways.

"Woooo, that was too close." Mac breathes a sigh of relief.

"Didn't you have a plan?" You ask.

"Yeah, well, it involved just sucker punching one of them and then run for my life."

"Ah." You nod. "Anyways, I managed to get a name. Possibly the teacher of our class. You ever hear of anybody called Novak?"

"Never heard of him." Mac shakes his head. "I couldn't get anything useful from the students around here either. None of them have heard anything about Class Z. However, there are rumors about a number of students that just up and disappeared. The teachers say they dropped out, but a lot of these guys were at the top of their respective classes. It's weird."

"Well, maybe Artya's found something." You say. "Let's go."

The two of you make your way to the library. It's empty at this hour, so it doesn't take long for you to find Artya, who seems to be in a rather enthusiastic conversation with another student.

You briefly consider following that mystery girl, but ultimately decide against it. You've got bigger things to worry about right now.

"Hey, that girl was pretty cute." Mac whistles.

"Focus, Mac. We're on a mission here."

"Right, right."

HELLO MATT. HELLO MAC

"Hey, Artya." You smile. "Who was that girl? Do you know her?"

Artya scribbles madly in her notebook.

HER NAME IS MAGARI. VERY NICE. HELPED ME NAVIGATE THE LIBRARY.

"How nice of her." You grin. It was amusing to see that Artya was having better luck at making friends than Mac. "Anyways, did you find anything about Class Z?"

Artya shakes her head.

LOTS OF MYSTERIOUS BLANKS IN THE SCHOOL RECORDS. ALL RECENT.

"Huh, have you found anything on a guy named 'Novak', then?"

Artya pauses for a second before writing down another note.

MAYBE. LET ME CHECK.

She grabs another book and flips through it rapidly before pointing at one of the pages.

You pick up the book and read it for yourself. Apparently, it was an old history book on notable Lanseal graduates. There, listed right on the page is an Edward Novak, who graduated just before EWI. However, any records after that may as well have been nonexistent.

"Well, it's not much, but we're definitely getting somewhere." You say. The pieces were starting to fall into place. A mystery teacher, missing students...

Artya taps you on the shoulder.

WERE YOU FOLLOWED?

"Huh? I don't think so. Why?"

Artya hurriedly scribbles another note.

TWO UNKNOWNS HAVE BEEN WATCHING US EVER SINCE YOU CAME IN HERE.

"Shit." You breathe. You read that, Mac?"

[x]Be sneaky. See if you can get the drop on them.

Class Z, motherfuckers! The sneakiest ever!
>>
>Be direct. Confront them openly!

If they're older class Z students, trying to be sneaky wouldn't work,

Do the classic "accidentally" run/fall into one of them. Tell Artya what you're about to do in a normal voice. Any sneaky shit is suspicious.
The plan is to tickle her. Have her attempt to flee, but we pursue but end up tripping and falling into one of our followers. Then we play it by ear.

>I love our scout.

>Be sneaky. See if you can get the drop on them.

it's a sneak-off.

1 in the afternoon here.

>i can do this for 11 more hours
>>

>Be sneaky. See if you can get the drop on them.

First, act as if what she was saying on her notepad had nothing to do with followers. Something like "No Artya, you can't even eat ice cream while wearing a gasmask, I'm not going to get some for you."

Sign for her to subtly point out their location while doing this. Pretend like we're leaving or looking for a book, depending on their location, and head in their general direction. Once we have the drop on them we'll make a move.
>>
>>25338352
"Shit, you think it's those goons from Class A?" You wonder.

"Gotta be. They're not the type to give up." Mac sighs.

PLAN OF ACTION?

"We'll split up. Pretend we're looking for some kind of book. Artya, you're the sneakiest and you know where they are, so you try and sneak up on them while we keep them distracted. If they're following you, double back and let us know."

Artya nods and gives the thumbs up.

One cue, the three of you split up, keeping a wary eye behind you.

You stop and pretend to pick out a book from a nearby shelf. You see Artya approaching from your left. She stops briefly and quietly passes a note to you. You open up the book and slip the note inside so you can read it without looking suspicious.

FLANK THEM FROM AISLE H. MAC WILL TAKE THEM FROM AISLE C.

Putting the book back, you quickly but quietly make your way to aisle H. Moving down, you catch sight of two students. Not the same goons. Actually, they don't look very threatening at all, but you have to keep your guard up. They seem to be more interested in keeping an eye on the door than down the aisles, which gives you and Mac a perfect chance.

You and Mac both move out as one, cornering the two strangers between yourselves.

"Hey, just who do you guys think you are, following us around?" You ask.

"Yeah, you really want to beat us up that badly?"

"What are you talking about?" One of the students asks.

"You know what we're talking about. You're from Class A, aren't you? Here to beat us up on Juliana's orders!" You accuse them.

"Oh wait.. you thought...?" Both students then burst into laughter.

"Hey... what's so funny?" Mac asks.

"This whole damn thing! You guys manage to get the drop on us, but for a completely different reason!" The first student laughs.

"Strange how these things work." The second student laughs.

"Hey, you're going to explain what's going on to us?" You ask.

"Well, you can just ask Price, our class chair." The first student shrugs. "He should be coming down soon."

At that point, Artya arrives to the scene.

"All right, Artya's here! Now you guys are really going to feel the hu-" Mac chokes when he realizes there's somebody behind Artya, holding her by the collar.

SORRY. I DIDN'T SEE HIM AT ALL.

Artya seems crestfallen.

"Oh, hey, speak of the devil!" The first student casually salutes. Well, there's our class chair, John Price!"

"MacTavish, Nikolai, I'm disappointed." Price sighs. "You got jumped by freshmen."

"Oh yeah?" The student, presumably MacTavish grins. "Those fresh bruises on your face mean you didn't pull off your end of the op flawlessly."

"You need to start taking missions more seriously Even if they're only for training." Price shakes his head, then turns to look at you. "Despite what I said, you did a pretty damn good job, freshies. Maybe there's some hope for you in Class Z after all."

>And that's it for tonight, so you guys can actually get some sleep! Next thread will be Sunday night 6-7pm PST!
