>Einstein was left on Surya so that he didn't give you away, but he was still in radio range: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

Your name is Heather Leery, and you're doing something you never thought you'd do.
You're technically holding up a nexus, holding hostages and threatening them for a measly million credits.
At least, Anna is. For the past ten minutes she's been making demands.
"And then we want a ship to get out of here." Anna said.
"We're, um, we're not sure we can..." One of the armed men said, gun in hand.
"B class or higher, we're not picky." She said. The man she was holding as a shield started to wake up, so she cold-cocked him again. "Else this fella is dead, and we blow the nexus computer."

Behind you, Sigma was leaning up against the computer, ostensibly putting bombs and traps in it, but what she was really doing was... searching.
Her mind was writhing, pounding with power, aching, painfully.
She was... lost. She coughed, and blood spattered the front of her visor. The suit started pinging at you that her biometrics were going haywire.
"... Help." She whispered, quietly, into the radio.
"Bear, go check on Lynx." Anna said, finally. "And you guys, if you make any funny moves..."

You make your way over to Sigma, and her hand was blackening, static electricity building in her palm.
"... Close. So close." She mumbled. "Just need... a boost. Or... or..."
>>

Divide the load, let's take part of it.

"Ssh. Let me help."

Telepathically link ourselves with her.

carefully make our way to Sara.

we can't transfer energy like Theta can not without harming us both.

take some of the flak off of her with our mind.
>>
>>25342502
Devourer can.

He can also teleport.
>>
>>25342511
>Actually, Devourer hasn't shown to be able to transfer energy like Theta can.

"Shhh." You say, quietly. "Let me help."

You take off your own glove, and touch her hand, closing your eyes, and reaching inward.

Her mind was spread throughout the entire galaxy, yottabytes of information ricocheting across her thought, nexus feeding into nexus feeding into nexus...
You could... lose yourself here, if you weren't careful.
So, instead, carefully, you held Sara with your mind.
Softly, softly, you did your best to ease her pain, to reinforce her consciousness...

Your head pounds, and you stumble.Your mind pounds, hard, and your mind... recoils from the storm writhing within Sara's mind.
Refuses to see it, or sense it, or feel it...

"It hurts." She said, quietly. "It hurts so much."

The nexii's screen blanked itself, and started throwing up graphical glitches.
"Ow ow ow ow ow" She said.
<Ow-ow-ow-ow-ow> She continued, pinging into your mind.

And then... Something in her mind burst.

You heard, audibly, a loud pop within her helmet, and she collapsed.

The Nexus had only two words on it, as she fell back.
<CLOUD CITY>
"Shit!" Anna called. She slammed something onto her hostage's shoulder, and pushed him into the group of soldiers. Then she skidded over to you, and grabbed you and Sara. <Sarvesh! Now!>
The hostage's shoulder exploded into light, smoke, and sound, just as the three of you landed in Surya again.
"She's hurt!" Anna said, and pulled off Sara's helmet.

Her eye had *exploded* out of her skull.

"Oh *god*." Anna said, and carefully ran a hand through Sara's hair. The girl didn't seem to notice.
<Devvy! Help her!>
<I'll make sure she'll live.> Devourer said, slithering over to Sigma. He worked his way into her eyesocket, and you felt... tendrils sprouting out of the shapeless sphere. He eased his tendrils around her brain, and started his messy work. <This... will take some time. Days, even. She burst almost everything. Dozens of simultaneous aneurysms.>

>You got the name of Cloud City through the screen, and Sara was saying <ow-ow-ow> through your own technopathy, due to the strange way her mind seems to work all machine-like.
>Well... What's left of her mind.

You jump into the cockpit, strapping yourself down.
"Sarvesh, take Anna back to the Wyvern."
"Yes." He said. There was a flash of light, and Anna was replaced by Omnissiah.
You flip on your intercom.
"Blackreach forces, get the hell out of dodge before reinforcements get here."
"Right!" Someone responds.
"Alrighty, let's do this." Someone else said.
"Be ... careful, Drake." The third person said.

"That was Kale!" Ellie said, as Devourer strapped Sara down in one of the beds, closing the hatch most of the way. A tendril snaked out, slithering across the floor, and gently coiled around Helios, draining energy.

You whirl around the ship, and slam it into bubble drive.

"Where do we go now?" Anna asked, the Wyvern following in your wake. "Straight to cloud city?"
"I'm not sure." Max responded. "I want to go there and tear out his throat, but they may have defenses we don't know about."

Let's really not ask that.
>>
"Is there anything else in the system? We could... black hole bomb it."
"There are no people in the system except for the workers there, and any guests." Anna said. "... Two or three dozen people, tops."

Then she went quiet.
"And Lin would be killed." Ellie said. "I will, if we have to, but... if there's any alternatives..."

>>
>>25342893

We're not bombing cloud city.

"we'll drop off Sara and Devi somewhere safe, preferably with Robin in case someone finds them."
>>
"We'll drop Sara and Devi somewhere safe." You say. "Preferably with Robin in case someone finds them."
"Hold!" Max said. "Another sniffing." He said.
A few long, tense moments passed.
"They're gone."

"Alright." You say, and whirl your ship around, blasting off into bubble drive. You make sure to turn on your transponder some time later, during flight, and relax. Once or twice, Max called out that there was another 'sniffing', which seemed to be some sort of.. psionic scan, judging by how he treated it. Devourer sprouted a mouth, so that he could speak during those times.
"Once we get Sara to safety, we'll get to planning an assault. I'm against blowing up an entire base just to kill one person. And I mean Davidson, not Lin."
"... Kill Omega if you have to." Ellie said. "I will, if I have to."

You note that she poured extra weight on the word 'Omega', as you look at the nav computer. Just another ten minutes and you'd be in Gaia's Tread's System.
>>
>>25343032
"Do we know where he'll be in Cloud city? I'd imagine there's some space defenses as well."

>>
"... Are you really okay with that, Ellie?"
"I never said I'd be okay with it." She responded, almost heatedly. "Just that... If there's no other option, we'll... have to."
There was a strange sound in the back of your mind as Ellie's bat started berating her for even taking that as an option, instead of fighting for her love. She just dropped the bat, and it stopped talking.

"Do we know where he'll be in Cloud City? I'd imagine there's some space defenses as well."
"There weren't when we were there." Anna said, over the intercom. "Just small defense tasers in the hangars, and those won't be able to punch through exosuits."
"Yeah, when I went there with Wes, there were no platforms or anything." Ellie said, quietly.
>>
>>25343166
"I'm willing to bet that's changed."

Where are we heading now by the way? Station? Asteroid base?

using clairvoyance now might tip them off on our location, I suggest not using it until we're there.

Davidson might be hiding there because it isn't a place that is well known to the general public?
he might not even suspect that we know about the place.

"Let's hope we won't have to Ellie."
"with how the VQ suddenly invaded, i wouldn't be surprised if they installed some weapon platforms. we'll have to see if we can verify that."
>>

>>
>>25343272
>Oh, wait, shit, you're right. I'd forgotten you'd voted to take Robin to Newt instead of the asteroid base. CORRECTION. You're heading to the asteroid base.

"Let's hope we won't have to, Ellie." You say, quietly. "And I'm willing to bet that's changed."
"Yeah, probably." Anna said. "But they don't have Delta any more, which is probably a good thing. I don't want to know what'd happen if they had Delta."
"... So, uh, when we get there, Jilly's gonna be there, isn't she?" Alex asked, awkwardly.
Only fifteen minutes away from Newt's asteroid, you continue on for some time, sitting there, until you pull out of bubble drive. And there it was, a large, bulky asteroid base.

"Hello?" Newt asked, over the intercom. "Who's there?"
"Surya and Wyvern." Anna responded. "Mind if we dock?"
"Go ahead." She said. "Seems we got a lot of visitors today."
>>
>>25343339
"Things are heating up, unfortunately. We need to kill a guy later."
>>
>>25343339

"sorry about that, something very important is going on right now. We have a seriously injured person on board, may we put her to bed here for the time being?"
>>
>>25343374
I don't think we ought to tell people that bit.
>>
"Things are heating up, unfortunately."
"I gathered." Newt said. "You don't happen to have a crystal with you, do you...?"
You check your cargo bay- and it was there, in your workshop, contained.
"We have a seriously injured person on board. May we put her to bed here for the time being?"
"Who's seriously injured?!" Robin suddenly called into the intercom.
"Sigma." Ellie said.
"... Noooo." She said, miserably.

Soon enough, you and Wyvern docked, and you climbed out, your feet strange on this 1G generated asteroid. You walk in, Sarvesh carrying the sleeping Sigma, and you meet up with Anna on the way to Newt's large living quarters.

In there, someone was cooking - Jilly, it looked- and Robin and Rose rushed over to Sigma to look her over, while Theta slept on the floor.

Newt was there, looking Anna's suit over.
"How's it working~?" She asked.
"It's working okay." Anna responded.
"Oh! And there's someone here you might want to meet!~" She said. "He's in the workshop right now, working on his suit. Trying to get the climate control working again. Something busted that really badly."
"... Who?" Anna asked.
Newt just giggled and grinned.

"Lemme guess... Is it Hound?"
"He's called Kiernan, here." Newt said, suddenly determined. She shifted her hubcap glasses. "He's not part of blackreach anymore."

Behind you, Jilly and Alex got into a fight, as everyone else started taking a look at the sleeping Sigma.
"But I can lead you two to him! Have you met him, Heather?" She asked, and waggled her eyebrows. "Or should I say, Drake?"

"Do you... want me here for this, Anna?"
"I kind of just want to avoid him." She said. "But it would be best if I talked with him..."
"Still going to kick him." You say, loudly enough for Newt to hear. "If you hold him down, you can get your crystal."
"Ooooh, alright! Sneak past me." Newt said, eager to get her crystal.

Anna was very quiet, and paler than she normally was, creeping behind you, as you made your way through the tunnels to a rather large workshop, and a man working on a suit.

"Hey, Jill, any chance you could help me with this?"
"Sure, watch carefully." Newt said, and started to distract him.

This was your chance.

"Not at all!" She said.

After showing her around the ship, while she oohed and awwed, you tossedher the container. She jiggered it open, and her eyes grew wide. "Ooooouuuh."
"What are you going to use it for?"
"Weapons!" She said. "I'm going to use a heavy duty laser system to heat it up, and slam ion thrusters into it so it'll make a really hot blast. It'll be ship-scale, and really, really nasty!"

>>

"Do you want to see...a recabulator?"
>>
"Ya know, I had a similar idea the other day, and Surya is lacking in ship-based armaments." You say. "Just how quickly do you think you could fabricate such a thing?"
"A week." She said, and grinned. "I have most of it done, but I need to do a lot of isolated testing. When things get that hot, meltdowns are catastrophic."
"That's pretty slow, for you." Anna said.
"Gotta be careful." She said.
"Would you be willing to share the blueprints with me?"
"Sure!" She said. "Once it's done, at least."
"Do you want to see... a recabulator?"
"Nah, I'm fine." She said. "Recabulators are cool for computers and power transfers, but not much else. I'm into weapons."

In the common room, Robin and Rose seemed a bit better about the thing, and Jilly was steadfastly looking away from Alex, cooking.
"We're having dinner." Jilly said. "Might as well, while you're all here."

Still, Theta slept, eyes closed.
"Shh, nobody do anything." Max said, and you very, very slightly felt a prescence sweep you past. Very, very slightly. After a moment, it passed, and Max nodded again.

"I guess powers are off limits whilst we hide out here and get some rest." You say, and take a seat. "Alright, let's recuperate a little." You say.
"Seems so." Summer pouted, through her personacom, and for a long moment in silence, people started to eat.
"What did you dooo, Alex?" You ask.
"I made Jilly upset with me. I'm good at making girls upset. It's my true psionic power."
"psst." Anna said, whispering in your other ear. "You should say something encouraging to everyone. Right now they're all worried, but if you can think of something to say..."

UPA won't be able to do jackshit about him, as they've got their hands restricted by bureaucracy and whatnot political bullshit. We're just students, so we don't have to jump through the hoops. Not now. Because I'm the Drake, the Pirate King. And we? We're going to save this fucking galaxy."

"Alright, people, we did *not* beat an ancient, all-consuming evil just to be beat back by one single guy with a fancy hat! Davidson is a cunt. Perhaps one of the largest ones in history. The UPA won't be able to do *anything* about him, as they've got their hands restricted by beaurocracy and whatnot political bullshit." You say. "Ever since we learned of Sara, ArmaTek has proved to be no less a monster than void queen. And we defeated her, even with two races putting their collective might behind her. One man and a single psion is not going to stop us where she couldn't. We gotta do this. For every clone he authorized killed. For kidnapping Damien's sister. For brainwashing Lin."

You clear your throat. "We owe him. He will not escape."

"Hell yeah." Isaac said, and took a bite of food- and started coughing. "Wow, Jilly."
"What? I put spices in it!"
"... You put way, way too much." Sarvesh said, and chuckled. "I'll be able to teach you."
"Will you?!" Jilly asked, her eyes widening. "Okay!"
And then the rest of you continued eating. It was a bit salty, a bit strong, but you were able to pack most of it away before food was over.
"...So, I'm coming with you all when you go off again." Jilly said.
"No, you're not." Alex responded.
The two glared at one another.
>>
>>25344542
"I don't mean to take sides, but we'll probably need telepathy defence again, and I can't manage that if I'm busy converting people to energy."
>>

"Alex, there's a chance Jilly here is the only one who can reverse Lin's brainwashing. We need her for this (for once)."
>>

>>25344565
"Not to be a butt Alex, but we need telepathy defense, I just don't cut it."

"Alex." You say. "There's a chance Jilly here is the only one who can reverse Lin's brainwashing." You say. "We need her for this."

Alex paused. Then sighed, and nodded.
"Good point." He said.
"We also need telepathy defense. I just don't cut it." You say, and sigh, looking over to where Sara was sleeping in the bed next to Theta. "It's my fault Sara got hurt so bad. I failed."
"Well, I'll be there next time." Jilly said. "We can do this."
>>
>>25344648
Lets move, we don't want him moving on us after Sara nearly died getting us this bastards location, news that a nexus point got attacked will get out.
>>

"Yes we can. Everyone get as much rest as possible."
>>
>>25344648
"Team high five!"
>>
>>25344648
"Yeah! We're awesome after all!"
>>
>>25344675
Delta went off on his 'Defense Ship' on his own to do... something.
>>
>>25344741
Probably to get his nape violated.
>>
"Yes, we can." You say. "Everyone, get as much rest as possible, but we should move quickly. We don't want him moving on us after Sara nearly died getting us the bastard's location. News that a nexus point got attacked will get out."
"Then we should hurry up and get going." Isaac said, getting to his feet.
"Yeah, let's." Anna said.

Everybody moved quickly as they got things ready. Anna gave Newt a kiss on the cheek and a hug, and then made her way into Wyvern.
"We probably need to figure out some kind of plan on the way." She said over the radio as she climbed into her cockpit. "Any ideas? If we had damien, we could have him use clairvoyance... But we don't."
>>
>>25344802

"Oh right, I was going to try and scout out any kind of defenses or emplacements the place may have."

Do some Clairvoyance.
>>
>>25344802
I could try, last time without an Iso chamber didn't turn out... but who knows my luck could change.
>>
>>25344802

"Max, is there a fixed time frame between the 'scans'? i could pull off a clairvoyance in between."
>>
>>25344823
Remember the sweeps.
>>
>>25344802
Well they can alter gravity and air-pressure at will, so everyone except Isaac will need exosuits. Also there's a crocodile.
>>
Omega seems to be a mimic so in addition to everything he has shown us expect him to be able to use telepathy, TK, manifestation and awakening. He might even have access to my pout if he's figured its psionic.
>>
"Max, is there a fixed timeframe between the scans? I could pull off a clairvoyance inbetween. Try to scout out any kind of defenses or emplacements the place may have."
"Not quite." Max said. "They're seemingly random, but speeding up. I think I've gotten good at sensing them enough that I can knock you awake if one is coming."

"Well, I could try, but without an iso chamber, it didn't turn out..." You say, and tap your chin. "But who knows? My luck could change."
"We could always just rush in as fast as possible." Summer said. "Surprise attack."
>>
>>25344900
"I know what will surprise them."

"Summer, you know how you confused Damien all the time? Well, we can safely say he's doing that, so, do to him what you'd do to Damien."
>>
>>25344900

it won't be much of a surprise if we get swarmed by weapons fire as soon as we deactivate the drive.

let's try clairvoyance.

>>25344917

that only works on clairvoyance, not on Max's detection.
>>
>>25344917
Omega is a mimic. He might have figured out how to copy Damien's clairvoyance. So thats an excellent idea.

Summer you make the plans... then when the time comes you order us through
Jilly to do something different. While your doing that I'll get us some information hopefully

Clairvoyance time!
>>
>>25344802
Can't we just scan the place for Davidson with telepathy and send in Sarvesh with a Jilly mindshield to teleport him into space?
Sounds like a Plan A to me.
>>
>>25344900
"Surprise is no good if we're going in blind. We must have the perfect ratio of speed to prep time."
>>
>>25344980
Omega can also teleport, gotta get him un brain washed and destroy the command hat or else he'll just get teleported to a safe location.

Best to just smash his head with TK and be done with it.
>>
"Summer, you know how you confused Damien all the time?" You ask. "Well, we can safely say he's doing that, so do to him what you'd do to Damien."
"Alright!" She said, and started focusing.

You take a deep breath, and close your eyes, leaning back, and blocking the light from the bubble drive with your hands.

Then wait, carefully, while another strange pulse passes you by.
Carefully, you put everyone's talking out of your mind, putting the hum of the engine out of your mind, the smell of too-spicy food out of your mind...

And you focus on Cloud city.

Eyes closed, you reach outward, ever outward...

You felt someone nudging you. You put it out of mind, and continued on thinking, puzzling things through... Cloud City wasn't far from here. It looked perfectly normal from the outsid-

You heard someone call your name, and you open your eyes.
Everyone was silent.
"Heather." Max said. "They swept us. And found you."

You felt that presence, all around you, feeling you out.

And then Jilly went pure, utter black, and her tail whipped out. Sarvesh pounced on it, holding it down, and Alex held out a hand, pressing it against her forehead. Slowly, she started returning to normal, but her expression was still cold, empty...

Summer twitched, and you felt the largest, most powerful tendril you'd ever seen slam into Summer's mind. "It's hurting me! Stop it! Stop it!"

Then she twitched again, and her eyes open.
She seemed to grin, and her claws unsheathed.

Alex pressed his other hand against Summer, and she seemed to go dim as well.
"Omega's doing something!" He said.

And then... That tendril slammed against your own mind.

Slam.
Slam.

It's been almost an eternity that the tendril crashed down into your mind, again and again, and you bit your lip, tightly, using the pain to help you recover. You well up your defenses, catching the blow again and again.
"Keep at it!" Ellie called, you realized, dimly. "Focus! We're almost there!"

Slam.
Slam.
Slam.

Your mind withered, crumpling under the raw force clashing against you...
And you felt someone squeeze your shoulder, tightly. An eternity later, the tendril eased.
"Looks like.." Alex said. "He gave up."
You look back, and find Sarvesh's hand on your shoulder. "Are you okay?" He asked.

You didn't have time to respond- as Alex made the wrong choice to let go of Summer. She roared, angrily, and pounced toward Sarvesh. With a single punch with an upper arm, Sarvesh caught the leaping tiger in the throat, and Summer collapsed.
"Oh god, I didn't mean..." Sarvesh said, looking down.

Summer was unconscious, it looked.

"Check Summer for injury." You tell Sarvesh, massaging the headache that was starting to form. "How is Jilly?"
"She's regaining control of herself." Alex said, hand on Jilly's shoulder. Jilly was still, cold... but her tail was starting to writhe a bit livlier. "It'll take some time."
"Roll call, everyone." You say, and everyone all claimed they were okay- save for Jilly and Summer.
"I'm fine." Anna said, through the intercom. She was following Surya at the slow (In FTL terms) pace you were going through space. "I think I'm too far away from you guys to be sensed."
"Summer looks fine." Sarvesh said.
He sounded... *mortified*. Scared.
You've never quite heard Sarvesh's voice so feeble.

I'm just wondering how come Omega is much more powerful then us. He has all those abilities and seems to be able use them all so much better then us.

>>
>>25345315
You know how much more powerful the Armatek psions are than the natural psions in their own specialisation? The downside is they can't use other powers. Only they managed to fix that with Omega. Or his specialisation is copying other people's powers. Or something.
>>
>>25345254
"Alex, get back into contact with Summer, we don't want Omega doing something horrifying to her mind or using her as a tracking beacon for us."
>>
"Sarvesh, stay focused, okay?" You say. "Summer is fine. She was controlled by Omega. You can kick his ass when we get to him."
"... Alright." He said, and got back up.
Carefully, he picked her up, and put her into the bed. "She looks okay. Nothing broken."

You met his eyes for a sliver of a moment, and upon piles and piles of guilt, you felt a hot, simmering fury.
And then you turned up the speed to maximum, and shot through space at almost three thousand times the speed of light.
And you hurried toward Cloud City. You may have alerted Omega to your presence, but he didn't know where you were going yet...
And, well, you saw what you could see.
Cloud city had no new defenses.
None. At all.

"Alex, get back into contact with Summer. We don't want Omega doing something horrifying to her mind or using her as a tracking beacon."
"I'm trying to save my power, but I can mask all of us from being attacked again." Alex said, and touched Summer with his other hand.

"A psionic bad feeling, or something else?"
"This just smells like a trap. I don't like it." You say.

>>
>>25345551
"I'm pretty sure that's a terrible idea."
>>
Hey, random idea: Omega uses Alex's 'anti-sentience' power to knock people out, right? It might be worth trying our Awakening, or ClairSentiance power to counter it and wake them back up again.
>>
"We don't have Theta with us, Sarvesh." You say, and sigh. "That's a terrible idea." You stretch, and crack your neck here and there. Then you reach out, and avoiding Jilly and Summer, you gently nudged everyone's minds, making sure they seemed okay- and despite your growing headache, they did.
"I know." Sarvesh said, and chuckled. "It was a joke. I am a very hilarious person."
"Everyone into your suits." Max said. "Let's put Jilly and Summer in theirs as well."

After rushing here and there, everyone was eventually in their spacesuits, Isaac in Anna's older exosuit, Anna in her new exosuit, Ellie in hers, and you in yours..

And Ellie finally sat up, banging her bat against her knee. It roared with only the fury a demon sealed within a bat could, and she slipped on her helmet.
"Are we ready?" She asked, looking forward to the projected screen, all green with the light of a bubble drive.
>>
>>25345651

"What we do now matters. Some of us are already knocked out so we better make it count. We will pay those bastards back. They can mess with our brains but they will never take away our souls! We will hit them so hard, they will remember this pain in millenia to come!"
>>
You grab a nutrient shake, slip open your visor, and take a long, long drink. It emptied itself soon enough.
"As we'll ever be." You say, and bat your suit's visor down again. "No turning back now."

That's when you flipped the switch, and after springing up faster, you pulled out of bubble drive, the green light melting away to reveal an enormous gas giant, alone in the system, other than the gas giant's one manmade satellite...
Cloud City.
"Let's break some kneecaps." You say, and quickly approach the station.

It was quiet, exceedingly so, as you drifted closer to the station. It was eerie. Quiet. You'd half expected to be attacked by a thousand lasers instantly, but instead...
"Wyvern, welcome back to Cloud City." The intercom said. "Welcome, Surya. Docking is five hundred credits, please. You're the second and third visitors today!"

Can we not alert that there are people on the station looking for him, the informations going to be unavailable anyways, this place is too expensive to not have a confidentiality policy.

you know what? Lets use that one ability that we never investigated before. The one that lets us know where people are.

Where is Davidson and Lin Heather?
>>
>>25345860
If they have confidentiality to not tell us, they that same confidentiality will prevent them from telling the other guys we were looking for them.

Because I'm pretty sure we've never had a people-finder power.
>>
>>25345917
its been hinted a few times that Heather knows where people are at. We just never bothered following up on it.
>>
>>25345930
We had a power of kinda knowing where people were without asking. I don't think it was a listed power so much as passive CV. Will still be useful, once we get to the station.
>>
>>25345776
"And who was the first?"
>>
"Thank you, we'll do that." You say. "And who was the first?"
"Splendid!" The operator said. "And I'm afraid we can't tell you. They asked that we keep their presence quiet." You transferred the money for both your own and Wyvern's docking, and pull your way into the dock. Soon enough, the clamps had you, and with more nervousness, you felt the artificial gravity take you. "Bays three and seven, please."

Soon enough, you pulled open the hatch, and looked out, at the bay itself.

Nobody was there with weapons.
No psionic force waiting for you.
"... This is creepy." Sarvesh said through his mask. Other than that and a guard for his lower arms, his suit was simply a big tank on his back.

"... I'll find them." You say.

You take a big, deep breath...
And recall all the times you found Anna in the halls. Damien in the rooms. When you set out to simply find someone and walked there before you realized it...
And you went to find Davidson.

And you find them.

All three of them.

Davidson... Omega...
And Lin.
Three.

With your entourage following you, you made your way down the halls, into a theatre, and walk in, as your personacom drained your account for the movie..
And there were two figures. Davidson, sitting there, and laughing at something on the screen, almost wheezing. He was an older, portly man, with grey hair and eyeglasses.
Standing next to him, not quite staring at the screen, was Lin- or Omega- standing still, almost prepared for something.
"Oh, Hello!" Davidson suddenly said, and paused the screen with a wave of his hand. He took a deep breath and got to his feet, holding out a hand. "My name is Davidson. I'm the CEO of ArmaTek. This is my friend Omega. I'm sure you've met Omega, right? You're the, uh, institute kids, aren't you?"

Max charged- and vanished into blue light.

Teleported away, to places unknown. Omega didn't even shake from the drain.

"Ellie, Beat omega's shit while I and Lin distract him." You say, and close your eyes. "Omega... I see a better man in you."

Deep, deep within Omega, there was something there. And your perception... twisted, to find that someone.

That someone wasn't a psion. That someone just had tricks he was good at, see. He was born on earth, abandoned there, and grew up by scrabbling and clinging to life, not a biopod. He was raised there, taught words on the streets, not fast-taught with uplift procedures.

He was the one who loved Ellie.
Not the one who didn't feel a thing.

A moment later, Lin stood in front of you, holding his head.
"T-thanks." He said. ellie was crumpled on the ground, a chair on her, as she pushed herself to her feet. "Ellie, are you okay?! I didn't mean-"

"Lessee..." Davidson said. "Here we go!"
He'd put on the helmet. Lin collapsed, and the portly man raised an arm.

Every chair in the theater tore themselves from the ground.
"Guess this does work!" He said, and slammed the bunch at you.
Isaac caught it in the air, but loose chairs started pulling away from the bunch and slamming into him individually.

Not true. If it was crafted by human hands then it's got character. It might not cooperate, but it will be there.

Delta was an exception, and I don't think he was part of the hatmaking project.
>>
the sad part is we haven't practiced TK in like 30 threads... and yet we keep on using it as our main battle tactic.
>>
>>25346420
>>25346421
He's been fighting against us this entire time thinking that technopathy is our best skill, he'd be prepared for it.
>>
>>25346397
The only machines that technopathy hasn't worked on are Delta/VQ's. I doubt the door to our bedroom for example has a whole lot of character.
Besides, technopathy can also be a massive surge of electric current that fries everything like when we were first trying to figure it out. And we know exactly where the current needs to go because we memorised the blueprints to this thing.
>>
You focus... And something slammed into your mind, sending you reeling.
"This is what Omega did before." Ellie snarled, trembling. Sarvesh took a step forward, and a chair slammed into his skull. It bounced off, of course, but that Something slammed into his as well.
The centaur struggled not to collapse. Anna raised her weapon, and fired- and the fusion blast shot into the ceiling, deflected.

With another crack, a chair slammed into Isaac's head. He collapsed, and the group of chairs shot toward you-

And then Alex spread his arms.
Alex.
Not Pariah.
Alex's arms held out, halting the chairs' advance, assisted by Jilly.

Then, gritting your teeth, you took a step forward...
And you used Technopathy.

True technopathy.
In other words, the stuff you completely suck at, because you kept breaking shit.
So, this time, just like before, you broke shit. On purpose.

The helmet crackled, then sparked- and the chairs fell.
And then Ellie raised her demon bat, and started bringing it down on Davidson. Over, and over, and over....

Crack.
Crack.
Crack.
"Ellie." You say.
"Right, sorry." She said, lowering the bat.
You looked down at Davidson, bloodied and beaten, barely conscious...
So you knelt, and with a single hand, reached into his mind...
The information there, oh, the information...
Access codes to a large, automated mining base, the location of his other workers... details of the Omega plan

A long, time later, you were sitting in a small room, just having finished being questioned. You were still in Cloud City, but after the UPA ships had arrived, they wanted to ask you a few questions.
"Well." Officer Perry said, scratching one of his secondary eyes. The nagala stretched. "That... seems to be it. You went in on a trip with your students, found Davidson just by coincidence, and ... uh, apprehended him?"
"Yep!" Max said- he hadn't teleported far, just outside the station, and your suits had quickly followed. "I don't believe it was a smart thing for him to try to run from a wolf who can track."
"... I see." The officer said. "And none of you happen to know anything about a... Panther or Bear, do you?"
Anna didn't say anything. She just smiled.
"I suppose that'd be too much to ask, huh." The nagala said. He sighed, and looked at his paper. "Lucky thing you got him to talk about where his compatriots were. They should be easy to arrest, now that we've found them."
"Yes. I was rather scared he had a weapon." Sarvesh said.
Lin, sitting in the back of the room, didn't say anything.
>>
>>25346601

>>
>>25346627
Beating a harmless (In the sense that he can't do shit to us himself) person to death is pretty edgy. Torturing him before killing him like some of you wanted is so stereotypically edgy that it could be used as a dictionary example of the word edgy.

"There's a crocodile around here, but I don't know of any panthers or bears..." You say.
"Oh well." He said, and slithered up. "That's all we wanted to ask."
"What will happen to him?" You ask.
"... To Davidson?" He asked. "Normally, he'd get the biggest, best lawyer he could and tie up court for years, but... Well, after the Meet came together, headed by Kulekala, it's an executive order. He's going to jail. Perhaps even cryogenics, or execution, if it got bad enough. We're still trying to piece things together. From what I hear down the grapevine, there's some really nasty technology that they're wiping all records of. Bad enough to make entirely new laws about that sort of thing."
You tighten your grip of your bag, where the shreds of mind control device remained.
He shrugged. "But I don't mean to take too much of your time." He said, and flashed a soft white. "Good day, everyone."
"Good day, officer!" Max responded, as the nagala left the room.
"... So." You say, telling Lin. "How are you feeling? What do you remember?"
"... I remember a lot of things. I remember who Omega was. What really... didn't happen to me. How I fought a stranger because I thought he used to be a dealer of mine..."
He shook his head. "But my personality is the same, even though my memories are wrong."
>>
>>25346706
Beating a guy to death isn't the same as a lethal injection. One is something angry mobs do and the other is something that happens after due process by an authority.

"But he had one really cool trick I didn't even know I could do." He said, and chuckled. "It's like... I can sense psionic powers. Understand them really well. He... figured out how to use them to copy people's powers. So I could, say, copy yours, or Alex's, or Jilly's... Um, sorry about that, earlier, Jilly."
"It's okay." She said. "Summer's the one you should talk to."
"You're right..." Lin said.
"I'm fairly confident you'll work it out." You tell him. "I've used my Awakening to make you... you. I hope that was acceptable." You say. "That's twice I've mind raped people into being friends, and I'm not at all sure it's a good thing."

Let's go for a walk to find Summer.
"Is Omega still in there?"
>>
>>25346899

>>25346899
"So kind of like my Knowledge."

So when Damien goes back in time, we need to send Devi with him and teach Devi time fuckery and our own abilities, because for some reason if our powers oppose the pariah power then there should be a way to defend against it somewhere in our abilities.
>>
"So kind of like my Knowledge."
"Not kind of like it." Lin said. "It... Is it. But with Omega gone, I've all but forgotten how to use it."
"Did you ever figure out how to do my energy conversion thing?"
"That part is pretty complex." He said. "Omega didn't figure it out."
You get to your feet, stretching, and make your way back to Surya. There, Summer was sleeping in her suit, but she woke up when you shook her.
"Is Omega still in there?" You asked.
"No, it's just me in here." Summer said. "Me and a billion worlds."

"Looks like it, Omega is back to being Lin, and Davidson's on his way to jail while the UPA council decides what to do with him."

Then hug the tiger. "You should probably go talk to Sarvesh when you're ready. He was really upset about hurting you."
>>
>>25346994
"Let's go see Sarvesh. He was...not happy about having to restrain you."
>>
"Yeah..." You say, and pull Summer into a hug. "Yeah, I think we can finally stop worrying. "
"So do I." She said.
"You should probably go talk to Sarvesh when you're ready. He was really upset about hurting you." You say.
"Alright, let's go." She said.

Sarvesh was in the room with everyone else, and Summer coyly made her way inside.
"I'm sorry!" Sarvesh said, and fell to his knees. "It's just, you jumped at me, and I freaked, and..."
"It's okay." Summer said, and sat on his back. "Don't be stupid."
"... Okay." He said.

Anna gave you a grin. "Hey, Omnissiah, you can fly Surya, right?"
"Yes, I can."
"Alright, then let's do that." She said, and turned to you. "Want to fly the Wyvern again?"
>>
>>25347151
"Hell yeah I do!"
>>

"Of course! The pirate king can fly anything!"
"You mean the pirate queen, even..." Anna said, with a giggle, as all of you made preparations to leave...

---

Your name is Damien.
You're in the middle of what looks like the goddamned desert, with a datadisk that, apparently, your own future self had given you. You plug it into your personacom, and watch.
<Listen, alright.> The voice said. <First step, you're going to have time. A lot of time. Just not now. Now, you need to hurry. Theta should still be alive by now, get him to change your genes. Have him cut out these sequences of the pariah gene, and that should supress your powers. After he dies, You'll go blind again eventually, so talk to Newt, get her to give you these implants...>
The chip chirped, and uploaded some data to you. <And finally, well... Look into the future. The moment you see Heather... killing you, controlled, then that means you're trapped in the loop. In which case... The loop must endure. Your password is 'Butts aren't as good as Tits.'>
You nodded, and sat up. Always listen to your future self, you said to yourself, and looked forward.

>Field too long!
>>
Stutter.
>Omnissiah, united into a single sphere of clay once more, was free at last, his eternal armies of AI rampaging across the galaxy.
Stutter.
Timeline Shift.
>Summer rolling on her belly, Sarvesh tickling her belly and scritching her ears, a certain Part of Sarvesh extended...
Stutter.
Timeline Shift.
>Anna and Heather, wearing little but blankets, covered in sweat. "Well, Damien." Anna said, grinning wickedly. "Aren't you going to joi-"
And with a blur, all reality shifted again.
Everything you'd just seen was invalid.

Even that last one, damnit!

"Hey!" Someone called. You looked up...
And saw Surya, glistening, with two large laser cannons attached to the bottom. Sitting out of the hangar was... Anna with an eyepatch, Heather, with a pirate's hat, and Sarvesh, complete with a huge cannon replacing one arm.
Exactly like your painting.

Then Sarvesh took off the fake cannon covering his arm, and laughed.
"Aren't you going to join us, Damien?!" Anna called up. "We have booze!"

Heather gave you a wide grin. You pulled yourself to your feet.
"Yeah, yeah, sure." You said.
The future kept changing around these guys.

You're not sure that's a bad thing.

He sure sees some crazy things.

I'm not quite sure I get the plan though. He vanished but he's still in the current time? And he was meant to go back in time after Theta removed his powers that let him go back in time?
>>
>>25347385
Not that surprising, Sorc Quest had a fair few loose ends as well. Of course, that ended because the quest had run out of steam, while I'd imagine Exa mostly just wanted Psion Quest done with now so he could start over with a blank slate in the next quest.
>>
>>25347309
I'm taking a long, long, looong break.

So like a few months or so. Maybe start my next one sometime this fall.

>>25347316
Most likely not, but I will answer questions about what happened. Even if you catch me on twitter or the IRC (#Exabyte on Rizon)

>>25347326
The confrontation with Davidson left a lot to be desired, but there's not much I can do when consensus is all on 'RIP AND TEAR' other than going 'HE DEAD END QUEST'.
I do think I pulled off the ending proper, though.

>>25347335
Sara was fine. As for her kid, well..
They might or might not have waaaay better biokinesis than Theta.

>>25347307
Only in some timelines. As it is, though, his clay was actually a micro quantum computer of a complexity you can hardly consider.

>>25347372
Winter's doing what she always does. She's Summer's childhood friend, and always will be. Awakened, so to speak, by no fault of Heather's. Eventually, Heather does tell Summer what went on, and the two meet again, this time properly.

>>25347520

So, what did the original storyline for the quest look like? The one where we were stuck on the Ishelda for months?
>>
>>25347566
I really didn't have much of a plan after that. The plan was to leave you stuck and trying to limp your way back to Heaven's Jewel, before finding that the Void Queen had killed everyone there, nomming them for psionic power.
>>
>>25347588
The bleak and depressing timeline.
>>
>>25347588
Original timeline Psion Quest was depressing.
>>
>>25347588

No offense meant, but I sorta like this storyline better. Instead of "And then everything goes to hell and it's all fucked with nothing you could have possibly done about it."
>>
>>25347588
Wouldn't that have taken a really long time to get back though? We're talking hundred of years.
>>
>>25347653
That was part of the point. Panels of your FTL drives were fucked up, so you'd have to scrabble through wreckages, attach new parts to your ship to get it going faster, etc.
>>
>>25347588
And then Heather trains her mind eventually becoming a match for the void queen before nomming the void queens species, thus completing the psionic god reproduction process.
>>
>>25347588
Man that would have been depressing.
>>
>>25347695
Sure, why not.
>>
>>25347280
Is there anything you thought we'd use/do more?

I guess that explains why Heather was the only one who ever fucked up badly.

That sounds pretty cool. What Psion Quest actually ended up as didn't engage me much since it felt so aimless. Dealing with VQ/Armatek were goals, sure, but it never felt like the characters were working towards doing so - they just did jack shit until one of the above interfered, and once the interference was gone it was back to twiddlign thumbs, all the way until the final confrontations.

Rainbows and sunshine are boring.
>>
>>25347756

If we had known that, I think we might have picked one, but being a jack-of-all trades and having the right tool for the job was just too useful.
>>
>>25347756
Damn shame. If we'd had more time I would have been up for specializing in Conversion to be honest. Seems like we never got around to using it fully. What did entropy reversal even mean?
>>
>>25347756
That was something we were supposed to decide?
I thought it was just, hey practice one thing alot and you become specialized.
>>
You know 'everyone dies but Heather, Anna and Summer' sounds like it would have been fun to play. Even if it was hella depressing to lose Jilly, Sarvesh and Damien.
>>
>>25347822
...also Ellie, our parents, everyone else on Heaven's Jewel.
>>
>>25347822
Hell, doesn't even matter which 2 survive that much (though sadly Sarvesh would be toast since he can't fit on the Wyvern). Just the general 'small group fighting for survival' would be pretty fun, and a far bigger change from the last two Exabyte quests than what Psion Quest actually ended up with since all three basically have huge casts just hanging aroundthe MC.
>>
>>25347756
>Really, I foolishly expected you all to specialize in something.
Kinda like how we were specializing in technopathy? Unless by specialize you mean "stop using the powers you already have" in which case "foolishly" is an understatement.

As a heterosexual male, a part of me dies every time /tg/ plays a lesbian. That's pretty much every time a quest has a female MC.

I wonder what my phylactery is and how I made one without noticing.
>>
>>25348071
What did you mean when you said you expected us to "specialize?" I thought we were pretty focused on technopathy myself.
>>
>>25348086

>>
>>25348092
You were focused on technopathy, but never made the big decision to specialize in anything without allowing your other abilities dwindle.
>>
>>25347280
Sad to see it end, but ah well, looking forward to the next one I guess.
>>
>>25348086
Next time we play a female we should try being hetero, only time I've gotten to do that was fatguy gets turned into an elf quest, and I'm not sure that counts.
>>
>>25348111
But what "big decision?"
Did you expect us to just stop using our other abilities for some reason?
Or did you expect us to out of the blue ask you for it OOC?
>>
>>25348071
But everything seemed to be something that had actually happened. The carvings weren't made inaccurate by all the times we made Damien's whole future sight invalid, she foresaw us getting a nat 1 and making Devourer, etc.
And if she can tell the future that perfectly didn't she know her plans weren't going to work at all?
>>
>>25348086
As a heterosexual male, a part of me dies every time a quest has romance and a straight MC.

Which means non-lesbian MC because fat chance /tg/ plays a gay dude.

She wasn't actually all that intelligent, she didn't even realize that the reason we came to kill her was because she kept fucking poking us. She had the power but not the ability to actually put it to good use.
>>
>>25348152
Damien, near the end of things, had the ability to sense *through* timelines, after things changed. It's difficult, and he has to focus on it, but it's possible.

As for the Void Queen, she had a lot of flaws. So much power that it couldn't help but leak, no real control over a lot of it, and she had to constantly spread portions of her focus. She didn't notice Lin, though- he was the wild card in that situation.

She was also kinda stupid, really.
>>
>>25348194
Why'd Clay Omni only speak to us when we got the 100?
>>
>>25348219
Because nat 100s are powerful things too. Your perception touched the clay, that time, while you'd never focused directly on it before. He can't talk on his own, most of the time, since the clay itself doesn't have speakers.

When were they useful? Everyone can do telepathy, and the advanced stuff that she can do like mind-reading and mind control she doesn't do because it's unethical. She was helpful when we used the technopathy virus to teach powers I guess?
