You are TK-392, a Stormtrooper in the Imperial army. A week after you successfully passed boot camp you were sent to the planet Reecee in order to investigate reports of Rebel sympathizers operating in one of its cities. Your very first day of active duty went about as well as you expected; you terrorized an alien in front of a crowd to let them know the Empire is still in charge and got into a near fatal bar-fight with an angry Aqualish. Now you're back in the safe confines of the Imperial prison in the center of the city resting your wounds and getting prepared for whatever orders may come your way.

You wake up from a somewhat restless sleep, the pain of the bruise on your chest reminding you of yesterday's events. You sit at the foot of your cot and try to shake the cobwebs out of your head; your commanding officer said something about heading over to the armory to get a new weapon. After a quick shower and helping yourself to some rations you put on your armor and walk out of the crew quarters. Even though it's early the place is thriving with activity; troopers patrolling the halls and countless protocol and worker droids shuffling about performing their duties. You can tell that they've blulked up security this morning but you're not sure why, something to ask your commanding officer later, you think to yourself.
>>
You reach the armory after a few minutes of walking and are taken aback by the horrible stench of a workshop populated entirely by Ugnaughts. One of them; a fatter, older looking one sporting a beard and two long tusks protruding out of his mouth walks over to you and asks " What you want, buckethead?" You're getting tired of being called that, but you're still too groggy to argue with it. " I'm here for a new weapon" you say to him, he snorts and looks at you with a pensive stare " You think just because you Empire you walk into my shop asking for new weapon?" He asks you angrily and gives another disapproved snort " You think blasters grow on trees? Orders full, we working fast as we can to get them out. You have to wait."

He gives you one final defiant look before retreating back into the confines of the workshop, leaving you standing there wondering what to do next.

Right. Fine go to CO.
Wow we are probably a pretty shit stormtrooper in her eyes by now.
Now were never going to get to hit it
>>
>>25381556
Hey, people wanted to discourage reasonable behavior because it smacked of being whiteknight, and this is what we got.
We can try to not be such a fuckup, but then those players would say we're being too lovey-dovey with the aliens.
>>
>>25381364
Ask for manuals and tools for our blaster and work on it ourselves.
>>
>>25381611
I like this idea.
>>
>>25381611
Sure, if the Ugnaughts will even give them to us. We'll probably have to file some forms in order to get them.
>>
>>25381605
We already got one shot in the head. twice. I think befriending the aliens is out of the question. We should really just be more careful and actually get a few good rolls.
>>
>>25381678
Well we can probably get them easily if we slip him a few creds
>>
>>25381683
I'm not talking about trying to befriend the aliens. I'm just saying, don't act all big, when we're actually pretty incompetent and can't back up what our mouth spews out.

You know, like pissing off the Chief Armourer on our second day at this post.
>>
>>25381762
We already fucked up

The second time we do it is the last time we try to intimidate him. Any more and we just seem like some thick headed idiot, don't push and we seem like some pushover. Either way we lose face. Our blaster is fucked too so we can't really threaten him over it either
>>
>>25381815
I say we just swap it with one of our team mates when everyone is asleep.
Keep face with the CO and we won't die the next day.
>>
>>25381860
Won't they just check the serial numbers on the blaster during an investigation and track it to us?
Not to mention, we need a working weapon TODAY, and everyone's already up and about their duties.
Sounds like the kind of ill-thought out action that keeps us as the incompetent newbie rather than actually getting better.
>>
>>25381912
Fuck I thought it was night not morning. Well shit never mind then. Just go to the fucking CO already and ask.
>>
>>25381954
>Fuck I thought it was night not morning
Yeah...this pretty much seems to reflect TK-392's effectiveness as a Stormtrooper so far.
Like, we started out as Cowboy, but now we're really sliding into Gomer Pyle territory.
>>
Well, just sit there and wait then.

I mean, we go to our CO, and it drives home our incompetence.

The Armorer said to wait, so that's what we're going to do.

Or we grab our broken gun and tell him to fix it before we decide to fix his skull with it. That or we can look at our gun to make sure we didn't leave the safety on or some dumb shit.
>>
>>25380911

I have a few words of advice for you, Grand Moff.

Before I get to that, I must congratulate you for starting this quest! It has the potential to go far if we work together..

Anyway, I'm going to poke at your writing a bit, supply some helpful criticism. Firstly, at the end of each post see if you can't provide some possible courses of action for us readers to choose from. If you can't think of any, just a
>What do?
would work well enough. Doing this will help us readers recognize the end of each post.

Also, just a comment on your writing style itself:
when writing dialogue, would you mind breaking it away from the paragraph? So that we may more easily recognize what is being said. Here's an example:

The small red fox stalked through the underbrush towards his prey: a clueless rabbit munching on the tall grass. The shadows of the forest shrouded the fox's approach, his paws soundlessly padding over the fallen leaves of fall. The fox stopped on a bush not 4 feet away from the blissfully ignorant rabbit.

"Well well," the fox whispered to himself. "What a scrumptious treat we have for ourselves tonight, eh?"

The rabbit peacefully nommed on the grass up until the moment the jaws of the lunging fox closed around its throat, the rabbit unable to release a squeak of terror before its neck snapped. Quietly the fox dragged away his meal, fading back into the forest from whence he came...

Oh, I almost forgot:

It is the etiquette of /tg/ to take the highest of the first 3 dice rolls in the event of a roll being called. I do not wish to tell you to stop QM'ing how you will, I'm just telling you of the norm.

Anyway, keep running such a fabulous quest! I can't wait to smash some rebel's skull in under our boot!!

>>25381459
>>25381467
>>25381488
( yikes, what's with the dice gods today?)

You think about confronting the Ugnaught again but decide it would be better to go through with protocol and inform your CO. You find her in the holding cells filing out the release form for the Ithorian who bumped into you yesterday; the alien is standing across from her still in shackles and looking very anxious to get out of the room. " Ma'am" you say as you snap to a sharp salute " Permission to speak."

" Granted" she says without moving her gaze from the pile of papers surrounding her " this better be important 392, I don't like being interrupted."

You hesitate for a moment, but you explain briefly of your sad little confrontation with the Ugnaught foreman and his refusal to supply you with a new weapon.

To your surprise she doesn't insult you or even give so much as a smirk on her face. She says " I expected as much; the Uggies treat all troopers the same way; they're not afraid of taking on grunts." She finishes her paperwork and gets out of her chair " I'll take care of it 392, in the meantime you need to prepare for our squad's next patrol; the informant I spoke with yesterday gave us the location of a small Rebel hideout on the outskirts of the city; we believe their leader has connections to a larger organization that's lead a string of attacks on our border stations."

After your CO "resolves" the issue with the Chief armorer you're given a brand new E-11 blaster rifle. Your squad is hauled into a large ground transport and after a long ride you reach the outskirts of the city; nothing out here except a few moisture farmers. You've been placed on lookout; brandishing an autocannon mounted on the top of your transport. You glance around the terrain, searching for anything out of the ordinary.

Make a perception check

Out of the corner of your eye you see something moving to the top of a small hill a few yards ahead of your route.

" I think I got something" you say through your comlink

Not a second after the words escape your lips 5 Rebel Guerrillas pop out of their hiding spots alongside of the dirt road and begin unloading on your transport. The distinctive pinging noises from the impacts tells you these guys are using stubbers. Hundreds of rounds pepper your squad's vehicle, the noise is deafening. Amidst the turmoil you manage to make out the figure you saw before on the hill; he's holding a rocket launcher and is preparing to take fire! You swivel the turret towards the hill and take aim.

" Time to die, Rebel scum"

You pull the trigger and your whole world is engulfed by red light and the sound of thunder. The autocannon rips through the hillside, engulfing the area with fiery mounds of dirt, rock, and what was left of the unfortunate Rebel.

The other Rebels see this display of awesome power and are now understandably terrified. You use their fear to your advantage and swivel the turret to their general direction before they have time to react and open up another impossibly loud blanket of heavy blaster fire, vaporizing 3 of your would be ambushers in one fell stroke.

The other 2 attackers have dropped their weapons and are running for their lives at this point, do you....

A. Mow them down, take no prisoners
B. Attempt to capture them
C. Continue along the route, you've sent your message loud and clear to these amateurs

You scream through your comlink " Commander we've got two runners!" On cue, the back hatch of the transport opens and you see the rest of your squad running to catch up with the remaining ambushers. You crawl down into the main compartment of your transport and sit down in one of the seats to catch your breath.

A few minutes later your squad returns with only one captive. Your CO gives your squadmates a cold stare

" Where is the other one?" she asks.

One of your squad mates steps forward " Offed himself, this one tried to as well but we stunned him before he could go through with it."

The OC seems annoyed at this answer, but says nothing. She climbs back into the driver's seat while the rest of your squad hop in and secure the captive to one of the chairs. After a few minutes of driving in silence you arrive at the coordinates, after a brief survey from your turret it looks like an abandoned shack of some kind.

Your squad climbs out of the transport and secures the area for the OC. She jumps out of the transport and gives the entire area a once over.

" Damn" she says " The information that slimy Bothan gave us must have been old, there's nothing here."

What do?

"Commander, I have an idea"

You dart back to the transport and find the Rebel still shackled to his seat; he's a young man, barely out of his teens. He reminds you of yourself before you were picked up by the Empire. You push those thoughts out of your head and unshackle him from his seat, roughly pulling him to his feet and pushing him outside of the transport.

Your CO gives you a look of high praise before walking over to meet with the Rebel captive.

" Is this your base?" she asked him in a calm, soothing tone.

The man says nothing, trying desperately to hold on to what little resolve he has left.

The CO looks at you and nods. Taking this as your cue you take the butt of your rifle and slam it into the side of the rebel's head with a dull thud. He drops to the ground with a cry of pain, the right side of his face rapidly swelling and turning a brilliant shade of reddish purple.

Your CO kneels down and waits for the man to regain enough composure to look her in the eye.

" Don't make this hard on yourself, rebel scum. Tell us where your base is and we'll keep you alive for now."

The rebels eyes were darting around as if trying to look for some way of escape.

" I... I don't know what you're talking about" He says in a trembling voice.

Your boot makes full contact with his ribcage, you feel at least two of them crack under the force of your hit. The man yelps once more and vomits from the pain.

" I'm starting to get impatient" your CO's voice has slipped to a much darker tone than before. " Tell me if this is indeed the location of your base or I'll have my entire squad beat you to death and leave you for the buzzards!"

The look on the man's face was priceless, the look of a person who has been utterly defeated

" Fine... you win. The base is here but it's underground. I can get you inside if you just lead me to the door."

The CO brushes some of the dirt off of the man's face and helps him up off the ground.

Your CO leads your bloodied captive to the door of the shack with you behind her and the rest of your squad training their guns on the door. Despite your victory earlier, that little voice in the back of your head keeps telling you that you should have a bad feeling about this; the rebel gave up too easy, way too easy. You position yourself closer to your CO and the rebel as he places his face in the retinal scanner. You hear the heavy click of the locks disengaging.

Using his last bit of strength, the rebel quickly opens the door

"LONG LIVE THE NEW REPUBLIC!"

You have just enough time to see the floor of the shack is covered with thermal detonators, and the wireless tripwire attached to the now open door has activated all of them.

Adrenaline floods your veins, sending your body and mind into over-drive. You kick the rebel into the shack, spin around, and grab hold of your CO just in time to shield her from the tremendous blast that rocks the surrounding area. Both you and the CO are propelled 20 yards back, the force causing you to lose your grip on her and she disappears into your spinning ,fiery world. You hit the side of the transport with enough force to dent one of the armor plates. You fall to the ground, out cold.

and that's where we'll stop for tonight. Thanks for your input and your time; I'm learning a lot about running these threads and I know the next one will be even better!
