Recent Events Summary:

While pretending to be the summoned creature of the Archmage Yi Fang, you were captured by the Ring City. The angel Michael, one of the greatest healers in the world, is responsible for your 'examination'. But a curse he received from a Demon Lord twisted his mind into that of a psychotic madman - and you were at his mercy.

Auriel was working with him to restore her powers. You communciated with her telepathically, begging her for help and informing her of Michael's insanity. Before she acted, however, you managed to burst free of your cage and attack and consume Michael.

You snuck into the city sewers and used them to access the underground complex holding the souls of many Shadow and Spirit mages captive. You destroyed the magic holding them in place - and the suddenly-freed slaves immediately turned on their masters, throwing the city into chaos.

Intent on helping them escape, you rushed to the Airship Noiralev to consume its core and use its power, but you ran into Auriel and Flint in the engine room. They explained that they'd found the remains of one of Michael's victims. That - combined with Flint's encouragement, and her own experiences - has led her to put her trust in you.

In one swoop, she took command of the ship, turned its crew against Sandalphon's despotism, and used it as a rallying point for the embattled shadow mages huddled inside the collapsing city.

Meanwhile, you used your powers to overclock the airship's dynamo, directing its firepower and shields far beyond their normal abilities - but even still, you were overwhelmed, and your efforts destroyed the dynamo in the process. Before the airship was destroyed, you were able to charge its jump drive and teleport to safety.

The battle has rendered the Noiralev useless, but you managed to safely guide the craft to one of many stone plataeus in the Shiprakers, an isolated and desolate region where Tarun Gakth meets the sea. You've convinced your fellows that the best place to set up something more permanent for your renegades and refugees is in the Great Forest. The spirit mages, led by Hamil, are currently putting together a mass teleport spell to bring you there.

You've started scouting the surroundings, hoping to find some trace of Steward or his proclaimed home, City 001.

Ability Tree

GREEN abilities have been unlocked and learned.

BLUE abilties are unlocked, but are not yet purchased.

RED abilities are revealed, but locked due to prerequisites.

UNDERLINED abilities are active-use, as opposed to passive. Not all active abilities require mana.

Unlocked Ability Descriptions:

Books the Main Character has read:

http://pastebin.com/dAXR00gP

-----------
Active (intent-use abilities that don't require mana)
-----------

Consume - Devour the latent energy of enemies and magical artifacts to add to your own power and restore your health.

Glide - Your aura allows you to glide, dropping safely from large heights or covering large distances if starting from a high position. Gliding is always stealthier than flying.

Flight - Spread wings of darkness to soar through the air. Carrying capacity is based on physical strength.

Supersonic - Fly at supersonic speeds. You'll move extremely fast, but suffer a large penalty to stealth and magic stealth. Takes 1 turn to activate.

Mimic - Take on the vague form of things you've seen. Won't stand up to close examination, but works well in the dark.

Snuff - You shadow can put out the lights it touches.

Blink - Sight-range teleportation. (Cannot blink through walls, through the ground, into places you can't see, etc. 5-turn cooldown in battle. Auto-cooldown if battle ends. You can only Blink yourself and inanimate objects on your person. Max range 1/4 mile or 0.4 kilometers)

Focus - With a burst of concentration, you can significantly improve your detection of both the mundane and magical, but you also drastically increase the risk of giving yourself away. (think sonic ping)

66 KB
66 KB JPG
Deep Focus - Long-range focus with heightened detection and scouting ability, but with a correspondingly higher chance of revealing yourself.

Berserk - Ignore your defenses and strike all around you in a vicious physical assault. Difficult to determine friend from foe.

Shadow Eater - Eat an enemy's shadow for a small heal. Their shadow will regenerate over the course of a day. However, things might turn sour if they notice their shadow is missing...

Doom Aura - Puts out all lights in an area at once. Large penalty to dodge if used during battle.

Compress - By sacrificing strength and defense, you can compress yourself and your aura to the size of a small mouse, greatly increasing dodge and physical and magical stealth. Warning: requires a turn to activate and deactivate.

-----------
Spells (and other abilities that DO use mana)
-----------

Shadow Strike - Strike the foe with needles of darkness. (base power 2. Costs 2 mana)

Shadow Assault - Launch a flurry of shadowy projectiles at the enemy. (base power 4. Costs 4 mana. Can hit multiple enemies)

Shadow Beam - A concentrated beam of shadow power. Attacks faster than shadow strike/assault, and is more accurate. (Costs 6 mana; 6 base damage)

Nightflare - Disrupt target spell or enchantment. (costs 2 mana)

Nightblaze - Cancel enchantments and spells in an area around you. Success and range based on mana spent. (Spend 4 to 10 mana. Radius: 30 feet. Additional 20 feet per mana. Alternate: Spend 10 mana to attempt to cancel any one single spell in sight-range with a greatly enhanced success rate)

Shadowmeld - Magic-based stealth. Pay any amount of mana. Physical and magical stealth increases based on how much mana was spent until stealth is broken. Can be used to re-stealth mid-battle.

Spirit Whip - Lash the enemy with a whip of spirit magic. (base power 2. Costs 2 mana)

Bind - Trap an enemy in ropes of spirit magic. May spend 0 to 10 mana (determines strength).

Water Strike - A pressurized blast of water imbued with magical force. (2 base power. Costs 2 mana)

Heal - Spend either 2, 4, or 6 mana to heal a target 4, 7, or 10 HP, respectively.

Purify - Spend 3 Mana: 100% chance to heal 1 ailment on target. Spend 6 mana: 85% chance to heal all target's ailments. Spend 9 mana: heal all of a target's ailments and the ailments of all those you are physically touching.

-----------

You get a few shadow mages together, along with Cain, for the purpose of scouting out your immediate area. You use Deep Focus.

Something grabs your attention...a little flicker of magic. You fly across a few plateaus toward a large reef.

More than one ship is crushed up and rotted away within the Shiprakers...most are at the bottom of the sea, now, but this particular ship was lodged between two rocks. You dive down and search it.

The ship holds war supplies - specifically, armor. You find iron helmets, shields, and weapons...and they're all completely rusted.

But you do come across five pristine sets of adamantium half-plate. You ferry them back to camp, and deposit them in the Noiralev's armory, which holds a large number of steel shields and spears.

You then decide to scout into the canyons back on the mainland, searching for Steward, or any other constructs you might call allies.

You inform Auriel and Ila of your intentions, and then take flight over Tarun Gakth. You use Deep Focus several times, sending out your awareness over the twisting, barren canyons.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t_59E37ndg

It isn't long before you find some constructs - in the midst of heavy combat. A giant stonesteel golem lies sprawled across a wide canyon. You recognize its smaller repair constructs from when you first encountered one.

The other constructs are distinct. They are smooth, and metallic. Their artifical design feels much less like pure earth magic, and more a scattered combination of various elements, rather like Steward. The fight between the two sides goes on, construct against construct. Neither side seems to have an advantage...though you suppose the giant golem must have been downed somehow. It doesn't appear to be damaged on the outside.

In any case, you're not sure if they're the droids you're looking for.

What do you do?

>intervene on the side of the Steward-like droids
>land on top of the canyon, then watch and wait
>retreat back to your camp

Ok, guys, we still owe City 001 a Power Core, and there is still one golem left in the Shadow Temple near the Orc tribe. We should head there first.

Intervene on the side of the Steward-like droids.

Maybe attempt communication to confirm that they are in fact the forces of City 001...

You tilt your wings, and dive.

The ground rushes up at you. The sound of steel clanking on steal and magic warping the earth grows high-pitched as your speed increases.

You pull up at the last moment, swooping up and into the belly of the golem. The only thing to mark your passing is a brief flicker of shadow, and a sound like the beat of a butterfly's wings.

Your speed conveys you up to the head of the golem. You spread your wings and slight soundlessly.

The power core sits in the nest of steel cables. The structure of this golem closely mirrors the one you found earlier. Several screens and consoles reminiscent of the engine room of the Noiralev ring the power core's housing.

You snatch up the earthen globe, and the room goes dark. It isn't long before you hear the clamping sound of the repair constructs clambering up inside their bigger cousin. It will be harder to hide from them while you're carrying the power core...

Not wanting to get caught up in the golem with several machines coming down on top of you, you slip back down through the cables and wiring.

You Ink your way to the bottom, and bolt out the front door.

Kind of like the Olympic Rings, but with all the color rings interlocking at the center, with opposing elements on opposite sides.

Ill try to whip something up.

How about a sort of 8 part Yin-Yang symbol?
>>
The last time you faced these robots, they gave you a lot of trouble.

But you're a lot faster than last time.

You move toward them even as they come at you, flickering forward in a long, single step. The quick, awkward movement throws off their timing. You slam into two of them, clotheslining them at the waist. They crack in two around your arms and fly back into the golem.

With another step, you're on top of them. The steel isn't very appetizing, but the magic pulsing in their bodies is.

>you gain 4 EXP (15)
>you gain 3 HP (40/56)

While you're eating, a robot gets the drop on you! A steel fist slams into your backside.

>you take 1 damage (39/56)

The fist glances off you, but it aches slightly. You slowly turn. The robot prepares another first.

You wrap a tentacle around its incoming limb, stopping it an inch before it hits you. The robot strains to remove itself from your grip, shaking and clanking. You cock your head, then tear the limb out from its body. It stumbles forward, off balance. You swing the arm down, then up, crushing the robot into a metal plate above your heads.

You're on it before it can move again.

>you gain 1 EXP (16)

You step back outside. With the enemy team split in half, the civilized robots made quick work of the wild ones - bits and pieces of them are scattered about the canyon floor. They march up to you.

The lead robot nods to you again. "Thank you for your assistance."

<Not at all,> you say. <I want to get in touch with Steward again. We've a few things to discuss.>

The robot extends its hand. "I will relay this request upon our return. Where is your location?"

<I've made camp at the Shiprakers.>

"Shiprakers: colloquial reference to Coastal Region 32. Understood."

What do you do?

>hand over the power core
>ask some more questions
>tell the robot you'll deal with Steward directly, then fly back to camp with the power core

A little corn, but how about something like:
We are the Stars of Unity, against the cold, dark world we are the stars that shine hope upon it.

>Freedom: Those bound and oppressed shall find allies and sanctuary with us, those who seek enslavement will find only enemies amongst us.
>Balance:True harmony of the elements is impossible, for their disharmony is their very nature. We seek only peaceful existence with the elements and will fight for that right, just as we will fight til our last to preserve the existence of others
>Justice: In a world smothered in hypocrisy and injustice, we refuse to turn away. We stand for no one force, only what is right. Our protection shall be firm, our justice swift, and our humanity great to behold.

You begin to hand over the core...but then you hesitate.

<...why am I undesignated? I thought all of the robots were consulted when I first encountered Steward...his 'mobile form', as he called it.>

The robot responds quickly. "Steward does not share all data equally. It is noted that we are uniformed. What is your designation?"

<...Shadow. Just Shadow.>

"Understood, Shadow." The robot's arm shifts slightly, impatient.

<Wait a minute. Why wouldn't Steward share data equally?>

"That is classified."

<Are you from City 001?>

"Yes."

<And you're working on behalf of Steward?>

"Yes."

<Then why didn't you know me? Why wouldn't he tell you about me?>

"That is classified," the robot says. "We were recently polled for a vote of favorability regarding renewed alliance with the shadow element. Further information was withheld."

<...how did you answer him?>

"In the negative," the robot responds. "We have other business. Please hand over the core."

<...I have more questions,> you say firmly. <What does the 002 on your shoulder mean?>

"That is classified."

<By whom? Until when?>

"By Steward. Until you are fully accepted as an ally of City 001. The core."

What do you do?

>ask some other question
>keep the core. Tell the robot you want to see Steward in person.
>tell the robot it can have the core, but only if it tells you what you want to know

You hand the core over to the robot.

Its chestplate opens with a quick snap, and it tucks it inside. "Thank you."

<Please inform Steward that I'd like to speak to him as soon as possible,> you say. <It's very important. Also, let him know I destroyed his remains. They won't be discovered.>

"This information will be relayed, along with your request."

The robots turn, and begin to lope away at a high speed down the canyon.

You glance back up at the massive golem and stare at it for a while. That kind of power...could be incredibly useful.

You sigh to yourself. The robots aren't very good communicators, and their logic and secrecy is odd - even by your standards. You suppose there's nothing for it. That's how it is.

You begin to turn.

I've always wondered, do you really get green when you drink hot cocoa?
>>
You stay in the shadows of the giant golem, motionless, silent.

The presence arrives quickly.

It looks like a golem - several times bigger than the constructs you were just speaking with. Sharp fins protrude from its back; jets of brown energy exude from several openings on the half-wings. It skates across the ground at high speed, headed for the golem. You're not sure if it's flying, or hovering.

It stops in front of your hiding spot. Its head turns toward where the beam impacted, then slowly swivels across the landscape. One of its arms ends in a long, sturdy-looking blade inscribed with intricate sigils. The other arm appears to be some sort of miniature cannon.

It doesn't seem to notice you. You could cackle.

You launch yourself from your hiding position, slamming your shadows at the enemy. It turns on a dime to face you, stopping your blow with its sword - but it doesn't expect your follow up attack. The other part of your body Inks, and cuts across the outside of its guard, cleanly slicing the cannon-arm from its torso. You slice again, up, cutting off one of the fins.

It slips away from where you had it locked to avoid more damage. Its remaining wing flares brighter to compensate, but it's clearly expending more effort than before to keep itself stabilized.

What do you do?

I know you probably think "verdant" is synonymous with "abundant" or something due to the connotations the more common "overgrown with vegetation" definition lends it, but what you ACTUALLY ended up saying is that you're speaking from completely malformed judgment, rather than a wealth of it.

Sure. But 1/4 chance isn't a good thing to plan on.

Let's use more strategy once this fails.
>>
You rush the robot, but to your surprise, it jets straight for you, too! The counterattack throws off your timing, but you still hit it with a full body slam.

You're a lot heavier than it is. You send the robot flying backwards, but its sword arm is like a blur. The glowing gold-brown weapon slices into you over and over, hacking your shadows apart.

>you've taken 4 damage (35/56)

You collide into the side of the canyon, smashing the robot between your own form and the stone. Its remaining wing is bent backward, and it collapses, mostly bent and broken. Its innards still flicker slightly.

With the robot lying on the ground, you notice a string of bronze letters running down its back:

002
002
002
002

<Why did you attack me?> you ask.

The robot starts and sputters, but seems damaged beyond coherent communication.

You plunged spiked limbs into the robot's steel-adamantium casing, then rip the power core out of its body.

It's a smaller core, meant for golems, not giant constructs - but it has a curious nature. Mostly earth, but with scant traces of all the other elements. You wonder how it works...you were under the assumption that the elements weren't very harmonic. Perhaps the core itself isn't?

Well maybe then I'll get into it more deeply, eh?
They're golems constructed for warfare and the Dwarves were regarded as secretive in the history that we know of, the idea of using the lack of information your enemy has is technically lying- by being manipulative of their circumstances and not forthcoming with the actual situation. They could, without technically or directly lying, have used that to obtain a core from us that they were ordered to.
>>
>>25444185
Or, just y'know: Duplicitous Golems. Simpler like that.
>>
You fly back to the camp at top speed.

Your explosive flight draws a lot of attention. Auriel and Ila quickly come running, followed by many other faces that are starting to become more familiar to you. You explain what happened.

Auriel nods gravely. "...I see. Well." She looks at the power core in your arms. "At least you didn't come away empty-handed. I suppose we can't put much stock in Steward's help."

"I'll increase the number of patrols," Ila says. "If they attack us at night, we'll teach them to fear the shadow."

<About that,> you say. <I think we should have joint patrols. Light, and Shadow.>

Several of those gathered around you exchange glances. Ila gives you a look. "...well...I suppose - "

<It's important to maintain versatility of magic,> you explain. The patrols have been highly segregated; you expected the hesitation. But no one can argue with practicality. <What if a patrol needs light magic, and does not have it? What if it needs shadow magic, and the opposite is true? Balance the patrols between angels and shadow mages.>

"...understood," Ila says. Auriel also nods. After a bit more discussion, the group disperses.

Flint walks up to you. "I don't know, Shadow," he says. "Forcing them together might cause more problems than it solves."

<Better to have them argue out their difficulties now, than when their cooperation is most needed,> you say. <If their differences are unresolvable, than it makes no difference. If they are, better to have all complaints out in the open. I reached Auriel with my words. They can reach each other with theirs.>

"...you have a lot of faith in people."

<I learn from the best,> you say. <I will keep watch myself, as well. Stay vigilant.>

Flint nods, then walks off. "By the way, the adamantium you found fits me pretty well! I'll use it from now on."

So far, all our interactions with the robots have pointed towards them never directly lying. While yes, they have withheld information, they have always told us when they've done so. Considering they answered Yes to working with steward and Yes to being from City 001 I think they're likely telling the truth. If they had answered with 'That is classified' then I would be more inclined to think of them as enemies. If they hadn't warned us about the malfunctioning robot I would be more inclined to think of them as enemies. As it stands, I must remain a proponent of stark neutrality.

"That is classified," the robot says. "We were recently polled for a vote of favorability regarding renewed alliance with the shadow element. Further information was withheld."

I don't THINK we mentioned the alliance specifically to them, rereading to make sure, and it is possible that they found out by other means.

As for them knowing about us, they said it was classified. Still suspicious, but let's not jump to conclusions.
>>
>>25444371

Really guys? The option of asking for Steward to take the core personally was given, and you went full retard and chose to straight up give it to 002?

There were literally no downsides to asking for Steward personally. If they were telling the truth, it'd be a minor inconvenience that they would have been able to deal with. If they were lying, like they are, then they would have attacked. Asking for Steward to appear in person was an absolute win-win scenario. I thought Shadow was done being absurdly naïve.

It takes some cajoling, but you get Auriel to prod Tyrael into coming with you on patrol. Hamil immediately rises when you ask him to join you, but a nasty look grows on his face when he sees who's waiting outside the Noiralev's hatch.

You leap across the plateaus with your magic, eventually landing deeper inside Tarun Gakth proper. You walk a half-circle around your landing site, keeping your senses peeled.

Neither of them says a word for the longest time.

You clear your throat in the manner you've seen humans do when they want to begin saying something. <So..Tyrael...how is the captain?>

"Auriel? Fine. Oddly infatuated with Sir Flint, if you ask me. But he's a good enough man."

<Why do you find it odd?>

"...well..." Tyrael shrugs. "She's been my commanding officer...well. She's been family for hundreds of years. She's had her relationships, but she's married to her work. I'm not sure what she sees in him."

"He is a bit of a fool, for a knight, isn't he?" Hamil comments. "Aeolus's order is dead and buried. He's not even windborne himself."

<You should both get to know him better,> you say. <He is stronger both in heart and mind than any other I know.>

"I wonder from where your confidence stems," Tyrael says. "But I suppose, considering your own opinion, and the captain's...it must be so."

Hamil purses his lips. "I can't argue with you, Lo - ah, Shadow. He did slay a demon lord."

The conversation drops off again. You struggle to think of something to talk about, but nothing that seems like common ground between an angel and a formerly enslaved spirit mage comes to mind. You expected an argument, but with you walking between them, they just choose not to speak.

Hamil stretches his arms above his head as you start along another plateau, high above a canyon. "...I could really use a game of stones."

"...you play stones?" Tyrael asks.

"...not much else to do in the sewers," Hamil says. "Can't train all day."

"...Kelveren, or Elven?

"Actually, I prefer Ulundi."

"...me too," Tyrael mutters.

"...so..." Hamil says. "...does the Noiralev..."

"I have a board in my quarters."

"Oh."

They don't say anything for a long, awkward moment.

<I would like to play stones,> you volunteer.

"I'll join you."
"I'd be happy to."

The two men say their words at the same time. They glance at you, each other, then away.

The patrol is otherwise uneventful.

You return to camp, unsure if you've made any progress between the two men.

The midsection of the ship and the weapons systems are heavily damaged. The engine is still relatively intact, but lacks a dynamo. A shadow element dynamo would be preferable, but there's only two others, and the Black Lady owns them.

Voting has devolved somewhat.

I'll say this:

>robots of unknown allegiance know your location
>you have not made contact with Steward
>traveling alone will be quick, but remember, you need to take extra time to slow and hop along, unless you want the Sky-Sever to fuck you
>after arrival, it will take time to do what you want to do

>>25445208

It would hurt. Supersonic also lowers your stealth by a huge margin because of the sound...basically, you don't want to be compressed and use supersonic, unless it's an emergency.

SM, maybe next time for stuff we do that does not contribute much to the plot, you could make us roll 20d100 or something and lump it all into one post, to save time. Fishing, looting shipwrecks, and an uneventful patrol, for instance.

>just impatient to get on with the story
>>
>>25445310
There's too much to do and too little time to do everything we need to. Like a said a few quests ago, it will be 20 threads before we get a chance to take Flints parasite off because of everything that it takes.
And we've yet to actually begin doing that.
>>
>>25445342

>and we've yet to begin

This is my point. It won't take 20 threads if we actually vote to get off our shadowy ass and start making moves.

What if we find out that Sandalphon has burned Arland to the ground and that Flint has no country to return to? While we're hiding in the woods the world is moving past us.

Character development takes time to write. The fishing trip wasn't going to be "you found giant fish to feed people yay the end," but a bit more involved.

>>25445342

Pick 1 thing and hammer at that thing until it is finished. The Ring City is crippled; winter is coming on, which will stop most wars for some time. I won't let the world burn while you're busy elsewhere, because that's kind of a dick move. There will be changes, given enough time, but it won't be overnight.

If you come to what feels like a major plot fork between two choices, and you choose to go one way, rather than another, then yes, the path you didn't choose will create consequences. Otherwise, I won't just fuck you in the ass.

You're looking for City 001.

>>

Two days pass. You scout across Tarun Gakth for signs of robots, going deeper into unknown territory.

You find a lone repair construct, trundling along. You land next to it. It ignores you, and keeps walking forward. Eventually, it reaches a wall, and simply walks into the wall. It falls over, gets up, and then walks into the wall again.

You put the construct out of its misery, and consume it, but you don't feel all that much stronger.

>HP: (37/56)

You're walking through the Noiralev when you hear some shouting. It's coming from a room with a door slightly ajar. Bright light burns within.

You peer inside the door. Several mages of all elements are packed inside, many of them with ignorance potions from the Noiralev's stash. Tyrael and Hamil are huddled over a board filled with stones. It's an odd shape, very different from the one you played with the Duke. Several empty glasses sit on the table next to them, clustered around a pile of money.

Hamil grins, then moves a set of stones over. There's a moment of silence, and then Tyrael slumps over, defeated. Half the room groans while the other half cheers. You suppose he made some move that decided the game.

What do you do now?

I do not understand the logic of this.

Yes. There's no need to servant anybody, right now. We have more pressing things to do. A mana recharge and a power core will do us some good. I'd like to settle the matter of flint's parasite, ASAP. And Obis, too, seeing that Kan-Abar is already liberal minded, it could well become our refuge.

We are not Erebus. We do not behave like him. We will not ignore the world and sit in our little corner while everything goes to shit.

You are only mentioning Legion because you don't like the idea of servanting Ila and you have no real argument.

If we use your "BUT LEEEJUNNN!" screeching for everything, we would off ourselves now to spare the world another round of elementomachy. Because, hey, no powerful shadow elemeental, no war.

We also wouldn't be doing this whole JUSTICE thing. Because Erebus was justice. Legion called himself the Arbiter.

No, I'm worried that Servanting her will have serious unforseen side-effects.

Like going crazy and turning into a soul-eating monster.

I vote that we find out more about what exactly is Legion's deal before we commit to Servanting someone as prolific as Ila.

I'd like to know legions deal, at least. I'd rather we spend all that XP on something things that buff us directly.
>>
>>25446304
Sounds like he merged with everyone at that final battle. Not a normal side effect of servanting someone.
>>
>>25446248
>>25446252

Okay, here are my arguments.

Right now, she's the representative of the Shadow mages. She has been for quite some time now, both in the ringed city and here. They look up to her, and trust her, more than anybody else. Whether she's servanted or not won't change that.

If you want someone to guard the camp, I think it can already guard itself pretty well. It's not a particularly big risk we're taking in not having a servant guard the camp.

The need to servant isn't particularly pressing right now. We need to remove Flint's parasite, and it's unlikely anyone we servant will be with us. We should save the exp for our own use for now, at least.
>>
>>25446328
>implying you can see those hints
>implying the clues aren't there
>implying SM doesn't foreshadow and scream in our face information but we don't listen

That said I'd doubt servant will cause craziness. But I don't want to servant her regardless.
>>
>>25446349
agreed on all points
>>
>>25446304
What we know about Legion is that he got shoved in the nether for 600 years. Before that he went around doing JUSTICE. And he was stronger than Sandles.

He attacked us because he thought we were Erebus. Who wouldn't attack the dick that let him rot in the nether for 600 years?

And then he put some curses on angels. The guys he was at war with.
>>
We should think more about getting eclipse, with an army of 300 shadow mages, that would be a serious force multiplier.
>>
>>25446339
Yeah, this.

I was halfway typing up a reply to >>25446328 talking about how the Angels are all a bit crazy when I saw yours. I'm honestly not sure whether Servanting is a good idea at all, judging by how a good deal of Angels/Servants that we've met have been colossal assholes. Whether that comes from simple age, being assholes in the first place, or is a side effect of power (absolute power corrupts absolutely etc) is something that WE REALLY DO NEED TO FIND OUT before we start to Servant people.
>>
>>25446349
Thank you person with clear goals and thought out plans. But I believe we number few.

>>
>>25446339
>So you mean like how the servants of Hyperion all wind up with poles so far up their ass they can joust out their mouth with them?
Correlation =/= causation.

The angels are all stickasses because Hyperion chose stickasses to angelfy. They aren't stickasses as a result of angelfication.
>>
>>25446397

>>25446402
I think they're stickasses because of the accumulated experience of hundreds of years being alive. Which makes me really worry if giving humans immortality just because we like them is a good idea.
>>
>>25446402
We don't know that for sure, we only have a sample of two in this regard, servants of hyperion and one servant of erebus. They're both nuts.
Let's look up the history of servants of any other element then, that would settle it quickly.
>>
>>25446397

Also, I'm afraid that servanting Ila will lead to the rest of the mages falling over themselves to impress us in the hope of being the next Servant. To everyone that argues that we should Servant Ila because the camp needs more protection, let me remind exactly how many people the camp actually has:

>A few hours pass. Auriel's crew numbers 34 men and women, as well as 54 angels - 88 in total. All told, there are 329 Shadow mages, and 34 Spirit mages.

That is a very significant number of combatants, and with how much we've invested into the Servant tree (absolutely nothing at all), one single Servant will not make very much of a difference.
>>
>>25446452
Investing in the servant tree only unlocks more spells for them.

They still get massive buffs to their base stats.
>>
Right now there are two reasons to servant someone
1) They need it to survive. Abigail comes to mind for this.
2) They are going to be a companion.
>>
>>25446448
In proportion, perhaps.
One of the more interesting things I've noticed is the difference in powers between the angels, do some embrace it more than others? Did Sandelphon have an affinity to light in the way Flint does and that's why he was so powerful as an angel? Why are there some angels that are so much weaker than others that they're basically fodder? What makes one higher than the other?
So many questions...
Plot, plot, plot...
>>
>>25446467
329 magic-wielding equivalents of Ezio Auditore should defend our camp pretty well.

I personaly work on a small shop that is family owned.

Don't forget the Daily Reminder, faggot.
>>
>>25446781
That sounds nice.
BUT IS IT YOUR DREEEEAAAAAM?!
If it is that's also nice.
>>
>>25446779
Honestly, the damage is done. Shadow WILL go and show Ila the shadow pool. Then only way that the Servanting will stop is if Ila herself doesn't wont to be servant'd.
>>
Why does this quest have so many creepy fuckers in it?

Morgue guy, doll guy, antiwaifu misogynist guy...
Surely I'm forgetting some.
>>
>>25446779
>short of accusing people of waifuing...
You do that, and everything you say is meaningless drivel and you lose my respect.

It is literally the worst thing you could do for your side of the argument.
>>
>>25446800
Maybe we'll have an in character moment of clarity with >>25446479 that will let us know we don't actually have all the answers on elementals giving power to humans, and that we might wait until we were certain we don't harm a friend.
>>
>>25446802
Redaeth, you, me...
>>
>>25446802
>antiwaifu misogynist guy

Unfortunately that isn't just one guy and they aren't plaguing only this quest
>>
>>25446802
Bird-Anon had some incredibly creepy posts, involving -you guessed it- birds. So birdguy is a thing.
>>
>>25446431

What if this is what cause the black hand to go psycho on everyone? Like Erebus was unwilling to give power no anyone (Legion was the first and last exception) so they try more and more outrageous ways to get his attention.
>>
>>25446836
Hey birdguy saved Shadow's ass at least once, so he has a free pass from me.
>>
>>25446838
Wasn't that exactly it? He didn't understand the nature of humanity in relation to being given power. So his mistake shined quite brightly. For a shadow monstrosity kinda guy anyways.
>>
>>25446853
He doesn't get so much as a cracker from me until he delivers those comics. I just know he's posting as anon though, I can almost feel the caw waiting to happen.
>>
>>25446444

Hmmm, I think I have change my mind about servanting Ila, at least for now it could better to wait until the situation is more stable.
>>
>>25446838
Except we aren't going to ignore them. Erebus totally ignored them and didn't give a fuck about the pillaging.

If the shadow mages start being dicks, we're going to be there to tell them to knock it the fuck off.
>>
>>25446838
Well if thats the case, then we'll end up having to burn all our XP on creating another Dawnflight.
>>
>>25446863
Yeah. Erebus would Shadow with 0 Humanity and 99999999 Temerity.

I hope that Shadow's Humanity will have him understand somewhat what might happen.
>>
>>25446838
So we don't even start.
>>
>>25446890
Even if they're not being dicks, but being overbearingly loyal to us specifically rather than our goals so they can tell everyone else in their own group to
>check their shadow privilege
Maybe just find a way so it's solid that they should pursue the idea, rather than the power behind it.

Now that would be a great question to ask Ila.
>>
>>25446908
>Erebus would Shadow with 0 Humanity and 99999999 Temerity.
And you don't think that was a much bigger factor than Legion getting buffed and all the other mages being jelly?
>>
>>25446940
Ofcourse I think that's a factor, that's why I posted it.
>>
>>25446961
The way you said it sounded like you think the servanting and mage jelly is the most important factor in everything shitting up and our humanity ill make us think it's a bad idea.
>>
>>25446986
>ill
will*
>>
>>25446908
>>25446890
>>25446903
>>25446863
>>25446838

Just remember that the motivations that Erebus had are pure speculation on our part and the information about Erebus ignoring everyone came from Auriel and we are 300 years late for the party so their is the strong possibility that the information is not as accurate as think it is. This is why we should get more information on the past before trying to make servands.
>>
>>25447000
Gosh, I wonder how much Yi Fang knows and if he would tell us the truth?
>>
>>25447024
>Implying we need Fang

We have Adavan, one of the Generals of Hecate to tell us the story from Erebus side.
>>
>>25447057
Oh right. Neato.
I wonder if anyone will write all the crazy stuff that him and abby-sabby are up to, as a reflection of the Joey stories.
>>
>>25447076
Considering all the lore we have for Scholomance is from Blatant Fetish Quest and Nazi Aztec Bloodmage Quest I would rather wait for SM himself to write it.
>>
>>25447176
Point.
>>
I just want Abby back, dammit.

I'm completely cool with what went down at Ring City and founding our own nation and such but we spent around 20 threads finding her again only to get torn away from her immediately afterwards. Now all this shit we're doing probably means we won't see her for another impossibly long amount of threads.
>>
>>25447190
Hey, look at the good side; SM doesn't do these threads at a rate of one per week. So if we focus on something...
>>
>>25447176
thinking that one settings Scholomance = another settings scholomance

:/
>>
>>25447231
It's called media bleed, it's a thing. The same way you can associate typical things of certain genres and stories with those that are in the similar vein. Also, he didn't say what you just described, he likely meant he wanted scholomance material unrelated to those two quests and written by SM.

Erhm no?

Go read the scholomance threads that made the setting. Those are in the archives.

And the only ones that have used it have used to poorly. Want. Better. More.

Every time.

I swear some of the shit you all did tonight...

Oh well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we already have Servant ability unlocked and that we need 15exp each and every time we want to use it? So why are we going to the shadow pool?

Also, wasting so much exp on others instead of improving ourself, come the fuck on.
>>
>>25447700
It take half an hour to go there and back. We have a week. We can regenerate all our mana there.
