We're going to do something different tonight /tg/.

You've awoken in a place with water that simply goes on and on. You look for a horizon, a spotting of real land. Yet you see only fog.

You take a step. You can walk here. There are soft rounded stones just beneath these waters.

Wearing a white T-shirt, and slacks of the same color, you find yourself to be a man.

There's a light in this place. It seems to come from these clouds.

Could this just be a dream?

Lay back down. Let's see if we can access CHIM again and get out of this undeveloped part of the game.

You lay back into the water and close your eyes, waiting for something to happen.

Is there anything to access?

Is there even anywhere to go?

Time passes. Whether they were seconds, minutes, hours or days.

You can't quite tell.

You open them up again, and you only see the endless fog in the sky.

You sigh and sit up. Your pants aren't even wet from the water, but when you stand, you can feel it in-between your toes, the cool chill traveling up your body.

The feel of the pebbles just beneath the surface, round and smooth, and the moist air.

It's crisp, like a mountain, yet fragrant as the sea.

You at least find that your senses are working.

Start walking, I guess.
>>
>http://www.rainymood.com/watch?v=GNLtvAcQMIk

You take a step forward, half expecting to fall into the water. To slip beneath its surface. It'd be something else right?

You experience a moment of thrill that something might happen, that there'll be something new with this first step forward...

Your foot enters the shallow water, and you find only more pebbles.

You grimace. Of course not. It's just disappointment, right?

You take another step, feeling only half as thrilled this time. The same.
Well, Third time's the charm right?
You put your toe in first... and slip it in slowly, carefully.

The same pebbles.

Time to start walking then... You go forward through the fog. It remains just as thick as thick, forbidding you from seeing too far ahead.

It seems like hours... or maybe a few minutes?

You see a shadow ahead of you... Far ahead and in the distance.

You start running
>>
You feel excitement wash over you. How long has it been?

Your feet pick up the pace and soon you're bouncing along through these shallow waters.
The water splashing about and cascading everywhere.

You forget to shout. To say something.

The shadow gets darker and darker... You're getting closer you realize.

Just as you reach for it, you touch a tree... A tree without any leaves..
A pang of despair rings through your body.
You breath heavily to catch your breath. You couldn't have been running for very long.. But you..
You had been so sure of this, only to find this tree.

You feel the wood over. It's grainy. You haven't felt this in such a long time. The way the bark peels ever so slightly against your skin, the smooth wood underneath...
It's the first new thing in a long while..

Are you... Are you the only one here?

>[] Lay beside the tree.
>[] Keep on walking through the mist...
>[] Punch the tree.
>[] Take a drink of the water.

Dammit OP.
Drink the water!
>>
You sit in the waters beside the tree. Looking up at the thing. Without any leaves, it almost looks like a statue, just frozen in time like everything else here.

The thought crosses that there may be seasons. Though, you'd need to wait along time for that. Then again, it's not like you haven't got time.

You clasp your hands together within the water, lifting them up as some of the waters it leak out between the cracks of your fingers.

You lift them up to meet your mouth, to drink it up before its gone. The liquid soothes your throat... It tastes clear, fresh, clean. Everything that water should.

It makes you kind of happy..

You pick up the water again, this time just letting it slip between your fingers.

Like a child, you do this, and keep it up, soon losing count of how many times you've repeated this. Just letting the water slip away as you idle in this world.

You take another sip, and recline back. Looking into the sky.

A drop of water touches your face, sliding down your cheek like a tear.

The rest of the still water is disturbed by the drizzle. Bouncing and making waves as water meets water...

Well... this is new.

>>
You rise from the waters, the liquids slipping down the backs of your leg and returning to the endless expanse around you.
Endless except for this one tree. You stare at the branches, they're not entirely big, but hey, you could manage.

You feel the bark beneath your fingers and place a foot against it, feeling the traction of your bare foot against the wood. The water hasn't made it slick at all..

You hoist yourself to the nearest branch that sprawls out from the trunk and pull up, swinging yourself around to get a proper seat upon the tree.

You look over the fog and feel a slight amount of vertigo when you glance down. The endless expanse from this height is a bit... disorienting.

You can't seem to see anything new, and the drizzle continues to fall upon your visible landscape.

It pains you to think it, but this may be the most excitement you've had in a very long time... You can't even remember anything before this.

You look out to the expanse once more, light drops of water flowing down your face, off your clothes and to the ever-reaching pools beneath, you grip the branches hard and call out for the first time since you've been in this place.

" H-el-o..." Your voice cracks from disuse, but you persist, "He-llo..." It's taking you a bit to get it.. Many tries and much practice later...
"Hello!" You finally manage to shout.
"Hello! Anyone!? Is Anyone out there?! Answer?! Please call back!"
You hear your voice echo and ripple the still waters of this place, the rain had long since stopped by the time you could speak again.

You call out again.

And again.

And until you become discouraged... Before your final shout, you hear a response, and you see a shadow far... so far in the distance.
"He-llo!" It's a... feminine voice? Light and gentle, unlike your own that carries deeper, masculine tones.

Water streams down your face and it isn't even raining.

>>
You freeze a moment, yet you wipe the water from your eyes with your arm. It's been... It's been since forever... When... when was the last time you saw another person?

Water runs down your face again and you fill your lungs with air before letting your voice travel out again," Hi! Who are you?!"
It was a natural question.. From one person to another, right? But in the instant you spoke it, you realized that you couldn't answer.

You wonder if this person could answer...
"My name is Eliza! Where are you?"

"Here, come this way!"

You hear footsteps plodding through the waters, getting further away and your heart sinks,"No! Don't go that way! Come towards my voice!"

It takes more moments, all of which that seem like an eternity, yet you see the person's shadow from the fog.

"Yes, you see the shadow? It's a tree! I'm on the tree!"

"This place has trees?" She calls back.

"Yes, yes it does! It has a tree! I found this one, I've been waiting on it! I've been waiting a long time." You excitements been getting the better of you. You can hardly contain it... You can hardly bear it. This is the first other you've seen...

In... How long was it again?

Finally, the woman's form is visible through the fog. She wears a shirt with... colors that you've never seen before, and her pants a blue. The water clings to the material, darkening it from where she's walked.

Her clothes, they aren't like yours, and her steps, they slosh their the waters as though it weighs them down.

Her eyes are a green, much like what the leaves of the tree should be, and her hair is red and tied. More color... that you've never seen before.

She looks up to you with wonder," Who, are you?"

Your throat locks up. You realize that you still can't think of a name...

Honestly? Most of it seems just filled with clichés and/or sexual innuendo and/or folks fetishizing over things. So it's not really somthing I generally support. But then folk like our fine OP appear every now and again to proove that there's some good in quests after all. So I guess it's not all bad. As I'm writing this I realize I may be a bit quick on judging quest-threads, and for this I can admitt minor shame...

"I... I don't know..." You tell the truth. Looking down at the woman... Her hair reminding you of something.. that you've never seen before.

You stares at you with a strange expression, her head turned to the side," Well.. How long have you been here?" She moves closer to the tree, her clothes sloshing through the water with every stride.

You don't ever remember having such a difficulty...

Oh, she asked you another question. "I don't know that either. What about you?"

She sighs, a long exasperated breath," Too long as it is. I feel like I just got here, but it already feels like forever..." She trails off at that thought, and she reclines against the tree.
"My legs are killing me..." She looks up at you, even as you stare down through the branches.
"Say, are you coming down?"

It hadn't even occurred to you.

Gripping a lower branch, you let yourself fall off slightly and hang right before dropping into the waters below. You stand higher than her, though she seems to sink lower.

The two of you seem to appreciate these differences right away, yet she's the first to speak. "You're... Not getting wet..." She points to your feet.

You feel the coolness of the pebbles once more, it's relaxing, yet her statement, it's demanding. "What.. is wet?"

"You know, when water gets on you and your clothes and... What... are you?"

You smile at the woman," I don't know, I've always been here."

"Eliza... right?" You walk through the waters, it slides off of your skin and clothes, much unlike hers.

She looks to you silently, expectantly at the call of her name. "Yes... what is it?"

"You are real, aren't you?" You touch her shoulder tentatively, nearly drawing your touch away before relaxing. Her expression changes again, her brow furrowing, and lips pursing ever so slightly.
"Yes, I am real."
You place your other hand on the remaining shoulder and stare her dead in the eyes, her expression soon softening. "Hey, you're crying."

"What?" You draw your right hand away to touch your face. It's water. Right, and it isn't raining. "So.. this is crying?"

She touches your cheek, and you feel warmth... real warmth for the first time in this place. "You are real... Where... Where did you come from? Are there other places?"

Eliza pulls her hand away and slides down against the tree, into the shallow waters around it, her pants darkening from the saturation. "There are... many other places. Where the sun shines, wind blows through trees, and flowers bloom. Where there are many other people. Though not everyone's so nice..." She's silent for a moment, perhaps longer as you have a poor sense of time.

She finally looks up at you again, her face pulling up into... into a smile, right?

I said it before, this isn't my first quest, I've done various others that I rather not name.

It's a good medium for practicing creative writing. Honestly, before I started I would second guess myself at every turn when I attempted to write alone. "I just.. Woke up here. I don't know where I came from. What about you?" You look to her in earnest, yet you see that the expression in her eyes is not good news.
"I just sort of found my way here myself. I didn't want to be found be anyone at the time. And suddenly, here I am."

You take a moment to notice the perpetual stillness that fills this place. The lack of... color except for her... The... interruption that your voices bring.

You begin to ponder at your own existence. Thoughts that had never concerned you before, but why? You had been content, though a bit lonely. This is the first time though that you've felt... warm...

You want to know more about her, where she comes from. You ask.

It takes her some time, not that it has much meaning here, yet she gets it all out. The sun, the rain, the trees, the cities, the farms, the stars at night... The warmth of a fireplace on a cold winter's night, the feeling of snow as it crunches underfoot, and so much more. Though as she goes on, for lengths at a time, closing her eyes for "sleep" and "dreams" now and then. despite your enthusiasm, she soon grows tired, almost bored... with your questions, bored with her answers. You watch as a few lines appear in her face as time just drags on.

After waking up from her most recent sleep," I want to go home," Her voice exhausted.

That... that was the last thing that you wanted to hear from Alexis... your Alexis... the one that has told you... all of these amazing things...

You rest beside her now, the time that the two of you spent together having been quite dear. You've enjoyed her warmth... You've enjoyed her warmth far more than the cool of the rain, the grain of the bark. The clearness of the water, and the slight chill that hangs upon this endless fog.

She looks to you, her eyes tired of these questions, yet this one, brings joy back to her," You think there's a way out?"

You nod," If there's a way in. You think you want to be found again?"
She smiles at you, warmly," I think I wouldn't mind that."

She rises from the tree. You notice that her pants are... dry, the color, long gone. She holds out her hand. "Well then, let's go."
You gently slide your grip into hers, taking her warm hand gently.

You walk on, into the mists. Now, the two of you, searching for a way out...

Though this world of yours... It isn't so lonely now, right?

I'm not sure if you meant to reply to me or to the guy who wasn't getting it. But basically Eliza spent too much time in his world and her color, what I understood as identity, faded. The boy cried because he understood what was happening without being aware of it. I'm not sure if the world itself had any sort of symbolic meaning and I'm really too tired to ponder on it so I'm going to leave it at this.

Does she die without water after spending so much time with it? That's the best that I can think of.

Well, I suppose it's not necessarily as depressing as I immediately thought, but the implications of her apparent loss of reality, of the waters washing it away, saddens me.

We're sort of like Death and she is our first?

That's an interesting one. It did come up in my thoughts while I built this setting, despite the bleakness of it. Drawing it akin to that... I can see it.

I enjoy knowing what you took away from this little one-shot, I feel like I've come away a bit better for it, and I wish the same for all of you..
If anything, I hope that you were entertained.

Good night.

I'm also checking out that game that was mentioned, I can see the similarities between this setting and that even withing the description.

I'd rather you just tell me what happened after I've just speculated.

Her color drained out. And the water no longer clung to her.

She was the same as the MC in the end.

Which heavily implies that she won't be leaving that place either.

>her color drained out

And whta does that mean?

Is she a drawing? Dead? What?
>>
>>25524245

The MC didn't have any color in him either.

You could say that they're both dead, wandering a realm of the dead, or you could say that they're both within a painting that's been lost to time.

I'll just say, it's exactly what I wrote.
