You are a Magical Girl, and you're currently being fucked with.

...It's certainly a nostalgic feeling, really. You'd been wondering when things would start being terrible again. Just like how they used to be.
>>
>>25638718

It's to be said that you've dealt with the rich and powerful before. People with too much money and too little sense, people who make a living doing nothing but have other people work themselves to death in cubicle farms for them.

Suprisingly, only a handful had really given you that itch to give them a Vindicare makeover on the spot. Most of them had simply been clueless, sheltered folk oblivious to how the world outside of their money nest actually worked and toiled. Some had even been nice to you, just hardworking folk who'd managed to get into new money and were simply trying to protect themselves from the sudden appearance of long-lost friends and relatives looking for a cut. Harmless, to an extent.

But Kirishima Ruri, the most powerful and successful idol in the world - and your current principal - seems to be doing her utmost best into tempting you into reducing her pretty little face into a ragged, fleshy hole you can put your entire arm right through.

[1/2]
>>
>>25638719

It's not just orchestrating the world's worst cover for a bodyguard by rigging a contest her fans were screaming themselves hoarse for. It's not just creating a convoluted setup that took you completely by surprise, someone who's supposed to be trying her best to make sure she doesn't get killed or raped or both. And it's certainly not just her being petty enough about you mucking up her plan - sending Sayaka in as the sacrificial lamb instead of yourself - that she even had Iori, of all people, rehearse with her a script involving magical girl lesbians fucking each other.

No, it's all of those, all wrapped up neat and tidy with this...twenty-four hour webcast thing that's going on at the moment, delivered via a camera wielded by a sweaty, narrow-shouldered bundle of inferiority complexes and eyebags and hair that could stand to be washed a bit more thoroughly.

This is being Warmaster? This is what Kharn dealt with in a daily basis?

This isn't worth the office, or the apartment, or the hat. It's not even worth the tiny pleasure you take from seeing Sayaka squirm every time she sees you and knowing that if you told her to jump, her first immediate reply would have to be 'how high' - and any variation of 'fuck you Murderface' would be the second.

If it weren't for the fact that...that Mami is counting on you, then...well, you don't know what you'd do. Quit in a huff, probably. Hand in your resignation, cash in everything, and hunt witches on your own. Just leave.

There are also other reasons, you suppose. There's Midori, who you have to take care of. Misaka, who you've heard is getting courted by other Officios to head their R&D staff. And Kyoko, who you're frankly worried about sometimes, what with her being so fucking nice and trusting that you half-expect her dying by sacrificing herself for someone she doesn't even know.

[2/3]
>>
>>25638723

...Shit. That's a lot of reasons.

What the fuck ever happened to being the Magical Girl with nothing to lose?

Well, if anything, you've got a lot to lose if you start fucking up again. Including your temper, if this idol doesn't stop testing you.

As you consider the foot-high pile of pancakes in front of you - the butter desert eagle on the uppermost pancake slowly and gently melting into the syrup - it's with as much blinding hate you can muster that you swivel your gaze at Ruri, and the girl holding the camera beside her. You focus your entire being into willing the handheld broadcasting device to explode, and to have a shard of its camera lens spear off and bury itself deep into Ruri's soft, mushy brain. No doubt Deepthroat's hands would be reduced to useless, bloody twigs of splintered bone, but them's the breaks.

. . .

Of course, that doesn't really happen. Instead, you play along with the new cover she'd given you - that of being a Murder Mayumi cosplayer. You grumble something about how it simply comes as second nature to you. You thought they'd be satisfied with the answer and get you out of the camera's line of sight, but apparently you're still in the limelight. Ruri's smile turning into a grin.

"...And get that fucking camera out of my face before I shoot it," You find yourself growling, before you could stop yourself. Deepthroat visibly shakes at this, the camera rattling in her hands, and she probably would've fallen back had it not been for Ruri steadying her with a hand.

It's here that you see her wink at you, a quick gesture - before she places herself directly in front of the camera, blocking you from view, addressing the audience.

[3/4]
>>
>>25638728

"Hee! That's definitely Murder Mayumi-chan, all right! See, viewers? That's how Chiaki-chan takes cosplaying seriously! It's an entirely new level, super maniac rank S-S-S!" Ruri giggles here. "But don't worry, you'll see her a lot in this webcast, and also in the concert, so stay tuned! And now, a word from our sponsors!" She nods at Deepthroat, who then presses something on the camera and lowers it.

"Whew. Finally." The idol lets out a sigh, rolling her shoulders. "That was rough." She turns towards her sweaty personal assistant. "How was I, then?"

"G-green..." Deepthroat murmurs, her eyes wide. "Very...very green, Ruri-sama."

"Really?" A grin curls soft, perfect lips. "What kind of green?"

Deepthroat takes a step back at this, stuttering all the while. "W-what kind? Uh...um...F-forest Green. Emerald. Viridian. A-any...any kind of green you want, Ruri-sama..."

"Aww. You're too nice to me, Noriko." She reaches over with a perfectly-manicured hand and pats the short, sweaty girl on the shoulder, before carefully wiping that hand with a tissue. "Now, please take Sayaka-chan to her room next door. Iori-chan, please accompany Sayaka-chan for the moment, as I need to speak with the Warmaster of the Ninth personally. I'll decide how long you get to stay in the box after that."

"Mrnf?" Sayaka grunts, looking up from her plate quizzically - chewing rapidly and then swallowing, she repeats her muffled query. "W-what? But I'm not even done eating! I skipped breakfast getting here--"

"Just go, please, Sayaka-chan?" Ruri says coolly, but it's Iori who finally manages to make the blue Eversor relent. It's a good thing, too - you saw how Sayaka's free hand had reached down to her waist, as if to pull a weapon from underneath the table. Reflex, probably. You'll have to thank Iori later.

"...Please be careful, Chiaki-san," Iori murmurs as she passes you by, Deepthroat ushering both her and Sayaka out the door. With a click, you're now left alone with Kirishima Ruri - who had now taken this time to unpack a particularly suspicious-looking piece of luggage. One that's long, and heavy from the looks of it. She undoes the locks, throws it open - and you could smell a faint hint of gun oil even when you're almost facefirst into a pile of pancakes.

Well. First time you've heard of an idol packing heat. Major heat, seeing as the customized sniper rifle she's now carefully assembling on the bed is almost nearly as big as the Anzio that Misaka used for ventilating Kirika.

...She's pretty good with assembling the damn thing, you note. It's a rather huge beast of a rifle, with the words 'Love Story' lovingly engraved into the body and stock. The scope itself has a rather cute-looking bright green ribbon tied around it.

"You'll have to forgive the mess. Noriko-chan is woefully slow about unpacking, and I end up having to do most of it myself." The idol suddenly says, apropos of nothing. "Why aren't you eating your pancakes? Aren't they your favorite?"

How do you respond?
>>
Huh. You really did make a new thread today, just as you promised.

Oh boy, the most exciting time of the day!

[x] "They're great. Ruri- do you mind if I call you that- are you trying to get me into bed, or piss me off? You seem like you've gone to a great deal of trouble to hint at a great deal of things."

If it doesn't concern us, our immediate acquaintances or our home, we can probably ignore it.

If she wanted to kill us, pulling out a superlong rifle and assembling it in front of us in the middle of a room is a pretty funny way of going about it.

Still, always good to keep up the shadowruns.

Memo to self: phone or text Midori and Have Words with her about the whole "Murder Mayumi movie" thing.

I forget, did Chiaki learn about the movie beforehand at some point? Or did we only just now find out?

Also -- I can see Murderface being pissed off about the movie thing... but I'm actually a bit surprised and unsure about why everyone got so mad at this job in general.

I mean... to me, her reasons for hiring us seem perfectly sensible and logical.

>Land the voice-acting part for the newest popular yuri manga OVA
>Know an idol who knows the girl that the doujin was based on
>Learn this girl (who has recently actually been promoted to the head of her office/agency) is a bodyguard/assassin for hire
>Decide to hire her as a bodyguard; she DID successfully guard Iori through two things most others might have died too
>As a bonus, this could serve as a PR thing too, because she's like a Murder Mayumi cosplayer!
>Offer to pay Kyubey lots of money for the trouble.

Seriously, all this seems perfectly reasonable to me... I'm just not getting why people think that what Ruri did was unusual or out-of-bounds in some way.

Seriously, it's just... Gah. She spends a lot of money to hire a bodyguard who would also hang out with her; and this gets her both a, well, bodyguard but also a PR boost to the upcoming video she'll be doing voice-acting for.
>>
>>25638864
Fair enough. I'm talking "the concert is going to end in mass hypnosis for her army of doom" type stuff here though. We shouldn't kill her just because she pissed us off of course.
>>
>>25638873
It's an OVA series, and yes, we knew about it, but not that it was this far along in production.
>>
[x] What's with the gun?
>>
>>25638764
First off Noriko doesn't get any punishment, I chose to give that ticket to Sayaka and so you don't get to punish her over it
That is one hell of a gun for an idol to be packing, you aren't a gun model as well or anything are you?
>>
>>25638873
> I'm just not getting why people think that what Ruri did was unusual or out-of-bounds in some way.
Lets see.

She abuses her assistant.

Sakaya was with her for ten minutes and already hates her guts.

Iori's warning us to be careful.

And now she has a fucking huge sniper rifle.

THIS ISN'T SUSPICIOUS AT ALL.
>>
>>25638873
Honestly, part of me suspects that this really will turn out to be nothing more than Decu playing our paranoia, and there really is no dark plot at all.
>>
Gentlemen!

We have a good chance for more snooping here. If we can, and its out of sight, SNAG ONE OF RURI UTENSILS.

We can use it to run the checks against the public record prints of Ruri, see if it matches the old ones we can lift off Sayaka's collection.

Holy shit, WE CANNOT ALLOW HER TO BURN IT YET. We need that collection to cross reference the prints for CSI: Mikitahara
>>
>>25638873
Because Chiaki's at 25 shadowruns and Ruri's only making it spiral.

Although, we should make a note to talk to Sayaka as to how exactly she became disillusioned in like 10 minutes. (If we don't just find out ourselves very fast anyway.)

>>
>>25639003
And neither do you, you idiot.
So why don't you just fuck off?
>>
>>25638873
The problems are twofold.

1. She knows an awful lot about us. We've only been the Warmaster for a very short period of time, and she seems to understand our ways and interests in guns and pancakes, and her bringing us to the very hotel, and the very ROOM that Iori was attacked in, on top of bringing in Iori in particular, and also the MMxMM thing we're attached to.

There are a LOT of VERY CONVENIENT things being set up here, and it's suspicious, in addition to the fact that we still have no idea what her motive is.

2: She's been a jerk with the mission itself, in the fact that she has tossed us the curveball of the rigged contest with no warning or prior discussion. Throwing us into strange scenarios with nothing ahead of time, and in very public places, isn't a very good way to treat your security detail. In addition, 24/hour webcasting is still a pretty big step above what we were expecting, which was probably more along the lines of "Probably stay inside most of the time where we'd have breathing room, but still go out on dates and events".

>>25639031

>>
The sniper rifle is fucking with my mind. Handguns, fine, can be used for defense. But sniper rifles? What game is she hunting in the middle of the concert?

Is it meant for us? If she knows as much about us as I think she does, she'd probably assume that we bring our own weapons. Unless hers is something special, specifically for killing whoever she has her sights on..
>>
>>25639031
Because she's really a Vindicare who killed Ruri and took her place.
>>
>>25639031

We should set her up on a date with Tiny Pete.
>>
Honestly, one possible explanation for the sniper rifle? (As well as the pancakes.) Is that she's actually a huge Murder Mayumi and/or Murderface fangirl. And the pancakes and gun is her way of trying to befriend us.

>>25638962
>I think it started when the "have a good time with the Ninth Warmaster" was connected to the "I'm gonna steal Chiaki away from you Iori" thing. That kind of put a negative tint on things.

Okay, though... I think we'd broken up with Iori, like, before we even left for Siberia. The "steal her away" thing might have been Ruri making a joke -- or being a bitch to Iori.

>Then she tried to fuck with us in the competition.

Honestly, that sort of felt like a clever way to excuse a bodyguard's constant presence near her. A neat way to have a reason for a bodyguard.

>Then she tried to fuck with us in the competition.

That, I agree, is legitimately worrying. However, it COULD be the mundane explanation. Because sometimes the best way to feed paranoia is to have there not be a problem at all. Argh.

Its been a long time ago so I forgot, but... did Iori know about our pancakes thing?

Alternatively, after she learned about us from Iori and decided to hire us, she called up Kyubey and started negotiating hiring us and asked Kyubey a ton of questions about what we were like and what we liked.

>and also the MMxMM thing we're attached to.

Okay yeah but as I pointed out, the MMxMM connection could be a reason FOR hiring us. Its not a coincidence in this case, its a deliberate PR thing.

Iori did mention that Ruri came to her in her time of need after the near-rape incident. If you'll recall, she even went shopping with her for the Butler and Maid uniform used in the massacre. She talks alot about Chiaki during this period and it is very likely that this is the source of intel on our likes and dislikes. She probably even knows about Mami's pancakes. Everything else has been shown to Iori at some point or the other too. As for MMxMM, its a pretty famous series at this point. Anyone could have spotted the more than passing resemblance. We should begin ringing the alarm bells IF she IDs Green Green, though.

The second bit can be explained as Ruri going on a power trip. Shes amusing herself with the things she can do and obviously enjoys the idea of us and Iori dancing in her palm.

BECAUSE SHE IS A RICH AND POPULAR IDOL. KIDNAPPINGS, RAPES AND OTHER TERRIBLE THINGS WILL HAPPEN TO HER WITHOUT AT LEAST 4 BODYGUARDS.

The competition thing WAS a neat way to be a reason for a bodyguard - had she warned us about this at all. We were expecting to spend our time smoking in backrooms until needed for publicity stunts as her 'date' or to hang out at concerts, not to have to play as a deranged cosplayer of ourselves and superfan in front of cameras 24/7.
>>
>>25639067
>BECAUSE SHE IS A RICH AND POPULAR IDOL.

This, why the fuck would a bodyguard need a cover-up?

>>
>>25639083

No.

He is Alpharius.
>>
>>25639047
>She probably even knows about Mami's pancakes.

Hmm, come to think of it, didn't Mami take over from us at guarding Iori at some point? So Mami might've mentioned the pancakes think to Iori.

>>25639067
Yyyyeesss... But this way you get a bodyguard that people don't realize is a bodyguard. Hell, its even possible that our straight-up having guns would be excused as being part of our Murder Mayumi cosplay.

>>25639088
I thought I was Alpharius?
>>
>>25639067
Yeah, she's got all those big gorilla security types, but how is she going to excuse the teenage girl always hanging around her, that goes everywhere she goes, when the Officios make a modicum of effort in hiding their existence and the existence of Magical Girls.
It'd look kind of weird for someone like Chiaki to always be hanging around Ruri for 4.5 days without SOME kind of explanation, and saying we're a bodyguard kind of exposes the Masquerade that the Incubators don't want exposed.

Now, was it a bitch move to spring it on us without warning? Yes.
Did she do it because she believes her security is compromised? A good possibility.
Should we drop the assignment because of it? No.
>>
>>25639073
>To joe public who doesn't know about magic girls we would look like a very strange choice of guardian.

Yes and? This is about the client not if the bodyguard's feelings are hurt because of the
general public.
>>
>>25639072
Well, I get what you mean. But here's the thing: If Sayaka, being one of Ruri's biggest fans from early on in Ruri's career, didn't know about the sniper rifle stuff....

Well, what else is Ruri capable of hiding? Like I said in my other post, an idol's life is very public. To be able to conceal something like that means she could be hiding god knows how many other dangerous things about her.
>>
>>25639043
>A neat way to have a reason for a bodyguard.
Which she failed to inform us of.

She was hanging out with Mami.

>>
>>25639051

>>
>>25639093

>>
>>25639089

No. I am Alpharius.
>>
>>25639092
That was not my point at all. I was thinking more along the lines of people trying to dig around to find out why a skinny teen girl is working as a bodyguard, or people who would do her harm being encouraged to try something because her bodyguard is "just a girl".

There is no fucking masquarade and every Officio sents their girls on bodyguard contracts all the time.
>>
>>25639047

It does seem like something that a rich person with too much money to throw around and way too much spare time can put together. She's obviously charismatic, or just knows how people tick.

Although I'm unsure if her being so blatant and flaunting all of her knowledge of Murderface & Murderface accessories is a good sign or not. Just can't shake the feeling that she might be connected with the fake Mami-head that was delivered to Chiaki in the bar.
>>
>>25639102
Maybe. But if Sayaka expresses surprise at the sniper rifle thing when we mention it later, there's going to be some trouble.
>>
>>25639078
>why the fuck would a bodyguard need a cover-up?
>>25639092
>not if the bodyguard's feelings are hurt because of the
general public.
The existence of Magical Girls is kept from the public and QB and the other Incubators use their media blackout teams to make sure that their existence is only known to potential clients and not the general public.
They don't want the secret getting out, for their reasons, and we're have to go along with it.
>>
>>25639107
Given she is now assembling a sniper rifle, I doubt that somewhat.

By using the same excuse she had to use when we gave the finger to her retarded plan? By telling Chiaki is an assistant just like Deepthroat is?
>>
>>25639098

I'm not contesting the "failed to inform us" parts.

I'm just saying that there ARE reasons or possible explanations for most things she did, even if many of them would come with a tinge of "Also, she's a bitch" or "Also, she failed to tell us this for no good reason."

I think we're forgetting the name of the idol's first album, 'A Magical Girl's Only Wish'. There's a chance she's known about magical girls for quite some time, possibly before QB contacted her. She's either known for quite some time, is one herself or is damn close to someone who is one. It's a little too specific to be swept under the carpet.

To get this popular, she's going to have to have been around for a while, no? Or do we have a time scale on that and I've missed it somewhere?

Pin it up to shadowruns if you will, but it *is* suspicious as all fuck.

Decu just has played us like a goddamned piano from the start of this and we are dancing along beautifully
>>
>>25639244
So Chiaki doesn't smoke any more except for the times she does which don't count?
>>
Um...

The thing about "non-obvious bodyguard", um... it was to hide the fact that there was a bodyguard...

Sigh -- look, I know she'll have some obvious bodyguards and security too.

But what I was saying was that the "contest winner" or "Murder Mayumi cosplayer" would be let mean that she could have a bodyguard close to her that **people would not REALIZE is a bodyguard**.

As in, somebody tries to get to her, and then BAM! the cosplayer hits 'em when they're not expecting it.

I didn't mean anything about a "Do people know about Magical Girl bodyguards or not" sort of thing...
I just meant it in the much more straightforward, simple, and CONVENTIONAL meaning of "a convenient and plausible explanation for why a new girl is suddenly hanging around Ruri 24/7."

>>25639236
Right, but I believe Iori was isolated(ish) in a hotel room -- whereas Ruri has a webcam on her 24/7 for a while. So we'd have attention on us much like when we brought Chiaki to that gathering/party/meeting.

Or it's just a big cardboard box and she puts Spaghetti in it and bangs on it while making ghost noises. Something like that.

"Ice...water?" Ruri blinks as she looks up at you, her hands momentarily pausing in their fluid assembly of a weapon that could probably kill God if she could draw a bead on him with it. "Not whisky? Well, er...I suppose I could get Noriko to get you some--"

No. No, she doesn't need to go to the trouble. But speaking of Deepthroat, though--

"Deepthroat? Who's..." Ruri's brow furrows momentarily, before smoothening out as she smiles. "Ahaha~! Oh, I almost forgot about her codename. Yes, what about her?"

...Cute. Anyway. You wanted to make clear that it wasn't her fault that Ruri's little stunt with the contest didn't work out the way she planned it to. The snag was your idea - and she doesn't need to go into any box or whatever. Jesus, give the kid a break. And maybe some deodorant. And a long shower.

"Oh, is that so?" The idol's smile is a rather cheeky one as she continues to work on the intimidating rifle, the metal parts clacking and snapping, a staccato cacophony as they are fitted together by perfectly-manicured fingers. "Well, I kind of knew you wouldn't go along with it. Chiaki Matsuda - or rather, Murderface-san - doesn't bow down to fate all too easily. You'd have viewed it as an insult, probably, a spoiled brat of a boss that likes to throw her weight around simply because she's got enough money and clout to." Her smile turns into a mischievous grin. "Am I right, or am I right?"

She was riding on the roof.
Also, she was driving up the arch, not on the road.
>>
>>25639395

Fuck. She's got your number, there. Fine, you admit it. But why this? Is she trying to seduce you, piss you off, or both? Last you heard, you're being hired as security detail. What's with all...this? And what's with the rifle?

It's here that she looks...well, offended. "Really? Chiaki-chan, I'm the top-selling idol in Japan - and in the world. I've been on the cover of Rolling Stones five times. All my records have gone multiple platinum. You don't --" Ruri stops here, her cute pouty frown turning into another smile. "...you have no idea whatsoever why I hired you, do you?"

No. No, you don't.
"Hee. Well, I suppose I'm not that famous yet, seeing as the legendary Murderface hasn't even heard of me." It's then that she clears her throat, and starts singing.

. . .

You're not at all into idol music. You think the bulk of it is designed to be as shrill and annoyingly-squeaky as possible, in order to reach some sort of hidden frequency that resonates with the part of the human brain that likes horrible music sung by scantily-clad, barely-legal girls. You're not a fan, is what you're trying to get at, here.

But Ruri, after singing only a few bars of a song you've never heard of, had...well, taken you. From an uppity idol bitch that desperately needed a punch in the gut and another in the kidneys, she'd transformed into a young woman who absolutely had no idea what she was getting into, and yet just wanted for the boy she liked to like her back. A girl that had no idea she'd be fighting horrible monsters until the day she died - and only wanted to feel the warmth of a hug before she did.

Her impromptu recital ends after a slow, mournful note, and she opens her eyes, a blush blossoming on her cheeks.

"I sing about Magical Girls, Chiaki-chan. Yes, yes, I know the world's not supposed to know about you yet." The idol smiles. "Don't worry, I'm not trying to expose you or anything - I doubt I'd be taken seriously, anyway, what with the current market inundated with magical girl anime and spinoffs. I'd probably be accused of viral marketing another project."

...Well, alright, but that doesn't explain--

Ruri looks at you pointedly, before shaking her head. "Seriously? No, you're kidding, right? ...Oh, fine. Besides how awesome the PR of having a dead-to-rights Murder Mayumi cosplayer in my webcast, Chiaki-chan, I also wanted to know more about the most notorious Magical Girl in the world, more notorious than Valnikov Kharn ever was."

You blink at her in silence, and she takes that a sign to continue. "The contest? I wanted to see how you'd react. I wanted to get under your skin, see what made you tick. I want to write a song about you, about the Magical Girl who isn't afraid to wade into blood and get her stockings and costume caked with gore. I want to write a song about the Magical Girl who fights like she's got nothing to lose, yet walks as if she's got the entire world on her shoulders."

...

What about the gun, then?

"What, this?" She looks down at the rifle on her lap. It's almost fully assembled, save for the magazine. You narrow your eyes at it, and Ruri catches your gaze. She giggles, and shows you that it's empty. "calm down. I never bring ammunition to a concert. And this is a family heirloom - I take it with me and clean it to calm myself down. It's also my good luck charm, see?" She fingers the ribbon tied around the scope.

Huh. Well.

As for wanting to know about her knowledge in all things mahou shoujo: she mentioned the rifle being a family heirloom. Maybe her relative contracted and introduced her to the world? That rifle would then belong to her.

She might have even started singing to honour the sacrifice of this aforementioned relative, hence the title of her first album.

You're wrong on all of that.
Murderface IS one of the most notorious Magical Girls in the industry, especially with the departure of Kharn.
And her entire career is built on Magical Girls; she doesn't want to become one, and she already knows enough about them to make her into the world's most popular idol, she only wants to learn about Chiaki Matsuda because of the reputation.
>>
>>25639490
[x] this

She knows a fucking lot about magical girls. I'm pretty sure Iori didn't know about Kharn, so this is more than just her talking with Iori. Something happened two years ago that we should know about.

Lets turn this into a give and take. We will entertain her questions, if she answers a few of our own.

I fail to see why we would be THAT famous. I get it that we were well-known in our officio because we killed an awful lot of people in a short span as Girl A.

But I fail to see how we should have an awful lot a fame beyond that.
Especially because the general population doesn`t even know about Magical Girls.

Kharn and Kirika, since they had a high killcount, Mami because of her unusual kindness for a Meguca, even some of the other Warmasters since they are batshit insane. But Chiaki? Not really. I don`t believe that killing 18 Eversors is such a big deal if Kharn probably killed and fucked way more than that. probably even at the same time.

>>
>>25639577

If Midori's Chinese porno cartoons are actually being sold worldwide, why is she take up meguca-ing? She could probably be a full-time author if she wanted. Did her stuff become popular before or after she contracted?

That reminds me, we should find out Midori's actual wish at some point. I know it's supposed to be personal, but she'd tell us if we asked.

>>
>>25639592
We've killed many more than 18 Eversors, and for a time Murderface was a part of Kharn's entourage, meaning she came along when Kharn visited other Officios.
Also, QB said that no one, no other Magical Girl, had the perfect Time Stop ability that Murderface had, making her very unique and valued. So that would be another reason why our fame would spread beyond just the Japanese Officio's.

And also, being in the industry the lines of communication are very short and well-networked.
>>
>>25639592
Dude we had massive amounts of fame amongst the meguca because we not only slaughtered all those girls but Kharn showed us off like a shiny new toy
And word spread very fast about our actions either from Kharn or from those she told

"Haha~ Sure, sure, ask away! I'll do my best to answer all of Chiaki-chan's questions!"

"Yes, I know it looks a certain way," Ruri cuts you off even before you've gotten a sentence in edgeways. "But we were looking for a Murder Mayumi VA, and Iori-chan seemed to be a perfect fit. We thought about getting Kikuchi Makoto-chan first, of course, but she turned us down." She pouts, here. "You have no idea how relieved I was when she sent in her audition tape! And she hit it right out of the park, too!"

Alright. That's...you'll have to talk to Iori about that, later. What about this 'good time' thing that she specifically asked you for--

"That's a se-cret~!" Wink. Stars and glitters coming out of fucking nowhere. Victory sign.

...Really?

"Oh, don't look like I'm going to drug you and rape you, or something," Ruri pouts again, and you could see how she could reduce any man - and woman - to putty with that pout. "Good time! A fun time! I want to get to know you better, Chiaki-chan, not ruin my career by getting involved with a Magical Girl!"

If that's the case, then why did she tell Iori all that stuff--

It's here that her upbeat pace and tone suddenly gets taken down a notch, and Ruri looks back at the door. "I...well, consider it a small favor in advance, from me to you, Chiaki-chan." It's here that she stands up from the bed, the rifle in hand - and it's with a reverent air that she places the long, beastly weapon on a rack, planted up against one of the walls of the suite. Her fingers tracing the engraved writing on the rifle. "I know, I know, I look like a massive superbitch and whatever I do, that's not going to change. But Iori-chan...she was really into you, Chiaki-chan. Almost unhealthily so. I...I guess I wanted to help her dial it back a bit." She turns back towards you. "So I did it the only way I knew how."

By...being a massive superbitch?

"Ding ding ding! Tell the audience what we've got for Chiaki-chan, Johnny!" Ruri does a little hop and skip, clapping her hands, her long twintails bobbing up and down. "You got it in one! And no, I don't mind if she hated me in the bargain, as long as she realizes how bad an idea it is to fall in love with a Magical Girl." It's here that her smile fades, somewhat. "It's the worst thing an idol can do, and one she may not live long enough to regret."

Oh. Um. Well. An awkward silence falls over the room, once more.

This Ruri person. She's...well, you're still suspicious, but she's turning out rather alright. She's at least convinced you halfway that shooting her in the face may not be a good idea.

You clear your throat, and you think about a change in subject.

How...how did she know about Magical Girls in the first place?

[2/3]
>>
>>25639947

"By falling in love with one." Ruri replies in a distant whisper, turning her back once more to you, as she looks back at the rifle.

>>
>>25640235
When QB rewrote Midori's Contract, he linked her Soul Gem to ours, allowing us to pulse to Midori and having a killswitch on her.
Though after the procedure in Siberia and Midori having her Soul Gem reconstructed with Mirai's, we haven't checked to see if the pulsing still works.
>>

Decu, how tightly do the Incubators control information about Magical Girls and the Officio's?
Do they suppress the very existence of their organizations as well as their Magical nature?
Is being seen on the net, even as a mundane bodyguard, against their wishes?

The masquerade being kept is what I meant
Sayaka expects some image of a girl she has when what she gets is this front of a bitchy manipulative idol who plays nice for the crowd

Ruri pushed her away by playing the role

And Ruri doesn't know who Sayaka actually is yet either

>>
>>25640356

The Incubators control most of the media, and they've made Magical Girls as something of a media sensation. People know about magical girls and think they're cool, but at the same time don't really believe that they could exist.

Some officios have legitimate business fronts, others have gone underground entirely.

Nope! Kyuubey would probably say it's good PR.

>>25640359

Quite high, actually!

>>25640360

It's the same as what's established in PMMM canon, but the Officios is sort of a recent idea. Probably sixty, fifty years back.

Not necessarily. Not if you do something fucked up to get out of what you assume is an illusion... only to find out you've murdered people or jeopardized the mission.

This isn't paranoia armor, it's paranoia shackles or handicapping.

Do that pulse to check for magical stuff, that's fine.

Um. Do you not see the problem with the statement "If we assume we're in an illusion and we're not, it's fine" combined with "Last time we shot ourselves in the head to escape an illusion." ?

Because those two combined -- if you really, truly, honestly believed you were in as big of an illusion as last time -- say "Shoot yourself in the head to get out of the illusion" AND "... and if you're wrong about being in an illusion, it's not such a big deal."

The Incubators do let the public argue and debate on whether or not what they saw was fake, just CGI, or actually real. There are a few magical girls are real conspiracy theorists websites out in MGNQ land. But with the Incubators handling the media, well, things can get kind of muddled up.

Actually, she didn't really have any reality-defying powers, except insanely high combat aptitude, strength, reflexes, and speed, from what we've seen of her fight.
So there probably wasn't much to cover up besides the body count.

People like >>25640612 appear to believe that being Warmaster makes us independent enough to ignore what QB wants.
>>
>>25640761
It did appear to be on the coast. We could also go to one of those massive in door pools with a fake beach every anime seems to have.

And Kharn retired to Siberia when Malal died, so no need to keep up the illusions.

>>
>>25640771
>ignore what QB wants
But that's not what I think at all.
I think if QB says 'It would be a good PR opportunity' we can say 'Don't wanna'.
If he says 'You are doing a PR op. Behave.' we say 'ur a dickbutt but you feed me grief seeds so I guess I don't have a choice'.

For fuck's sake, he presented three missions to us and told us we had to take at least ONE. We decided to take TWO. Yes, now that we've taken it we have an obligation to do what the job called for, but if it all turns out to be too much trouble that it is worth we can make the call to can it and go do something that won't result in a PR disaster.

Basically, I'm just trying to get a feel for how justified we are in trying to get the camera turned off. It's hard to figure out what "common sense" as it pertains to elements that simply don't exist in our world. A lot of people seem to have the impression that magical girls are in a Masquerade-like situation -- push comes to shove, there ARE mechanisms in place to cover your ass up, but the Powers That Be would really, REALLY prefer you not take it far enough to require any of that in the first place. Keep your head down and all the magical stuff strictly clandestine. But from what you're saying here, it sounds like basically anything we might do in the course of our bodyguard duties should be totally no big deal, even if millions of otaku see it broadcast live on the intertubes.
