You are Narg-Oroloth, or as you have more recently taken to calling yourself, Nathaniel. You are one of Hell's demons, and you have been sent to the mortal world on a mission. There is a valuable object that needs recovering for the might of Satan, and you are the one for the job. After acquainting yourself with the city of Los Angeles, and stealing a few souls in the process, you are ready to continue on your path.

It's been two days since your exploits in the penthouse of the hotel, and you have spent this time laying low in a less lavish, cheaper location. Your wound to the shoulder still aches a bit, but has healed up quite nicely. You roll over in bed, and turn on the TV. You see that you have made the morning news headline: "No suspects arrested in double homicide wild sex-party case." Looks like Emily and Raine haven't fallen under suspicion, then. That means the meeting you arranged is still a possibility, if they decide to show up. You instructed them to meet you at 5:00 PM, at backstreet intersection not far from your hotel. You also remember that you told Rook that you would go to the address he supplied sometime today. It looks like you have a busy day ahead of you.

You look to your left, and see that a fresh suit has been draped over a chair. Upon getting up to inspect it, you find a small handwritten note in its breast pocket, which reads "Careful." Good to know your associates down below are looking out for you, then. You spent $600 dollars on your previous excursion, which means you still have $400 dollars left, a reasonable amount.

It's currently 11:30 AM, which means most of the day is still at your disposal. What will you do?
>>
>>25689531
reroll I hate this character
>>
Lets go see Rook. If we see any hobos on the way, make sure to blast envy at them so that we can get a full on hobo thievery spree going.
>>
>>25689531
Get up, get dressed, make sure we're looking good, head to the address we got from Rook.
>>
>>25689531
Let's just wander aimlessly for an hour or two. Maybe sow some chaos.
>>
>>25689666
That's an interesting roll.
>>
>>25689666
You have the devils own luck
>>
>>25689626
>>25689620
You decide to first go and visit Rook. After looking up his address on your phone, you see that it isn't close to your current location, and it would take about an hour and a half to walk there. Instead, you decide to spend a small amount of money on a taxi to get there. You get dressed, go outside, and get in the taxi you called. You get a feel for the taxi driver's soul, but it doesn't feel easily corruptible. As you ride, you notice that the neighborhood you are moving into has a dingy, old, and musky feel. It is filled with old houses and storefronts, none in very good repair. When pay and exit the taxi to arrive at your address, you almost mistake it for the wrong place. The windows are covered up, the door is painted over, and no sign hangs above it. However, upon further investigation, around the alleyway in the back, is a smaller door, with a small discreet sign on its right: "Goodfellow's jewelry and antiques."
>>
>>25689776
Erm... Go in?
>>
Spend a moment making sure that no one has followed you before entering going down the Alley and entering the shop.
>>
>>25689776
You knock, and after a few seconds, the door is opened by a tall, lean man. His head is complemented with a receding line of brown hair sprinkled with grey flecks, and his eyes are a steely grey. After appraising you for a few seconds, he speaks. "So you are the one who was in contact with me over the phone a few days ago? Come in." He moves aside for you, and closes the door behind you as you enter.

His shop looks like any other antique shop you might find in the city, but his content is more esoteric than that of the average dealer. Alongside old chairs and tables are grimores, amulets, and runes. After leading you deeper into his shop, he turns to face you. "You were seeking information on Origeth?"
>>
>>25689982
Yep
>>
"Yes, more specificly the location of it." Then sit down in the one of the chairs and fold your legs like a gentleman, of course.
>>
>>25690029
>>25690056

"Yes, I am. Would you happen to know its location?" You lower yourself into one of his chairs.

"Heh, nope. I do have the second-best thing, though. Its probably the best you'll be able to get, besides hearsay and rumor. I have a journal, written by a self-proclaimed prophet years ago. It focuses on this Origeth, and it might have what you're looking for within it."
>>
>>25690163
And what do you want for this journal?
>>
"Better than nothing" Then request that he grab it so that you can verify that it is what he says it is.
>>
>>25690217
>>25690257
"And what do you want for this journal? Could I get some verification of its content?"

He similes. "Good, right to the point. Yes, one moment." He goes to the back, and returns with and old leather-bound journal, handing it to you. It does indeed seem to focus on Origeth, but it seems to be written by a madperson. Most of its content is almost illegible, and written in a strange prose-like form. "I have an item I would like retrieved, if you think this journal is what you are looking for, that will suffice as payment."

You are conflicted at this point, because you aren't sure what to think of Rook's offer. Does this journal really contain the information you need, and will it be worth what Rook will ask you to do?
>>
>>25690412
"What do you need done?"
>>
>>25690412
"Tell me what you need retrieved and then I will decide on wether the price is low enough for me to buy."
>>
>>25690445
>>25690458
"What do you need retrieved?"

"A ring. It holds value to me, as it will complete my collection. It is currently under the possession of another individual, and if you accept my offer, I will give you information on how to find him."
>>
>>25690491
"How do I know you won't back out on the deal once I get this ring for you?" Also try to get information on the person we are stealing it from before agreeing to it.
>>
>>25690491
"It seems a fair contract. I agree."
>>
>>25690552
"How do I know you won't back out once I deliver? I'll need more information on the target before I can agree to anything."

He thinks for a moment, before replying. "Very well. He is a rich socialite, living the exuberant life as some do. He is not aware of the significance of the ring, and sees it only as a pretty accessory. And as for keeping up my end? I haven't been in this business for as long as I have without cultivating a good reputation. If you don't believe me, talk to whoever referred you."
>>
>>25690686
"Alright, give me the information, I will fetch it for you, and then I get that journal."
>>
>>25690686
Before we agree, emotional/soul status on rook.
>>
>>25690780
He seems calm, as far as you can tell. You have some difficulty reading him, he seems to have some kind of self-created barrier set up.
>>
>>25690804
"That is a nice barrier you have. Enochian symbols? Dabble in the dark arts? I've always wanted to learn. This ring some charm too it?"
>>
>>25690836
Seconded.
>>
>>25690836
"I see you have a nice barrier setup around yourself. Enochian symbols, dabbling in the dark arts? I've always wanted to learn. This ring have some charm to it too?

"Well, in this business, you have to learn something, in order to protect yourself. And there's no need to play games with me. I don't know who you are, but I do that by your air, what you're looking for, you aren't naive. And yes, the ring is sealed with special energies, this is what makes it valuable."
>>
>>25690933
Let's not dawdle.
>>
>>25690933
"I just don't want to stumble onto anything that might be cursed or harmful to me. I'll get the ring for you. I assume anything from this man is fare game? His life if need be?"
>>
>>25690933
"Fair enough, I accept your proposal, I will bring that ring to you in exchange for the journal." We need to try and appraise the ring and see what powers it has after we grab it, most definetly.
>>
>>25690994
This
>>
>>25690994
>>25690985
"Alright, I'll do it. And the man, fair game, his life if need be?"

He chuckles. "Yes, that would be fine. Here, take this." He hands you a manila folder. "This should have all the information you need. When you are finished, return here with your spoils, and you will get the journal." You both get up, and he walks you to the door. As you leave, he reaches out to shake your hand, and you accept. "Glad to be doing business with you," he says, as you say you goodbyes, and walk away from his shop.

It is now 1:00, and it takes 30 minutes to get back to your hotel, so you have a good amount of time to do whatever you like.
>>
>>25691127
look for a hobo
>>
>>25691127
We're in the city of fallen angels. We should find a minion. Perhaps track down possible candidates on the street, or if we sense anything to our liking.

Preferably female. A woman has certain advantages that would prove useful into getting into a rich socialite's home.
>>
>>25691127
Read the information we got, and get some coffee or something.

While doing this too

>>25691206
>>
>>25691127
Let's wander. Perhaps will come upon something interesting.
>>
>>25691152
You begin walking down the street, looking for a likely suspect.

>>25691206
You do hopefully have the meeting with the two girls from the hotel later today, which you hope will prove to be what you are talking about.
>>
>>25691206
We're already setting ourselves up to get this from last thread bro ;) good idea otherwise though.

Also, status on if the souls we got brought us some sweet stuff
>>
>>25691295
We need to buy more powers if we can
>>
>>25691295
Aside from having an easier time to tempt others to lust/wrath now, nothing yet, You'll gain a new ability at 5 souls, any type.

>>25691238
You haven't seen any homeless people by the time you find a small coffeshop. You step inside, order a coffee, and sit down and begin to go over the folder.

His name is Eric Dunham, and as Rook said, he appears to be a rich socialite. Owning several estates, he has been doing well for himself. It isn't clear how he came into his money, although it cites several business investments he has made.

Most importantly, next Saturday, he will be hosting a party at one of his luxurious properties.
>>
>>25691441
powering up our emotional feel will go an insanely long way. Outside of quicker shapeshifting or straight up mind control, I can't think of a better ability.

Perfect. We can infiltrate the party and get the ring then.

Any interesting things in the shop?
>>
>>25691552
not the worst plan but let's keep an open mind
>>
>>25691485
Find this property and see if we know anyone whose going to be working at the party.

Rich assholes gathering together? Couple of them probably owe Hell their souls.
>>
>>25691588
There are two other patrons, an older woman working on her laptop, a younger man reading the paper, and another young man that is the barista. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed. Their souls appear average, the man reading the paper is a little tainted.
>>
>>25691612
good point
>>
>>25691642
Can we tell at all what the taint is predominantly composed of on souls? If not, that would be a fine future upgrade.
>>
>>25691642
Let's pin-point this man's taint? Is it lust? Anger? Is he a war vet?
>>
You know what would be really, really easy souls? Prison. Dispose of one of the guards, preferably one without a family, and shapeshift into them.

Soul buffet.
>>

"Hello sir, I was wondering when you were done reading with that, I was wondering if I could read the funnies when you were done."

Let's get a quick look into this man with small talk. If he's not important we can just leave,

Is gay stuff considered a sin?
>>
>>25691783

>>
>>25691805
Depends on who you ask. Doing 'gay stuff' out of lust instead of love would probably be considered a sin, but if two men loved each other and were good people then probably not.
>>
>>25691828
Let's stop this conversation before it derails the train.
>>

>>25691783
You walk up to him, and sit down on a stool beside him.

"Hey, how's it going? Could I borrow that paper once you're done to read the funnies?"

"Oh, hello. Sure, I'm almost done."

You still aren't getting a great read on his soul.

(If you'd like, d100 for success on reading the sin he is tainted with, 60+ for success).

You try one more time to determine what has touched his soul, and you are finally able to tell it is greed. You aren't sure how it got this way, but maybe with a little questioning, you could dig it out of him.

Greed and gluttony are easily conflated. We should try to make him eat quite a bit more. When he runs out of food money in his pocket, he'll need to swipe some food or cash to continue.

>>25691996
This guy is just a random fool not worth our trouble. Let's find a different place.
>>
>>25691905
"My name is Nathaniel." We say so our false name doesn't sound so fake in our mouth's. "Anything interesting in the paper?"

We figure out what he reads, we see what his greed is focused on.
>>
>>25691928
>>25691952
You order another drink, and tip the barista as he brings it to you. The man glances at your money, and his eyes perk up a bit. You start to amplify the greed that already lays within him. After a little while, he hands you the paper, and orders another coffee. "So, what do you do for a living?" He asks.
>>
>>25692037
This. If we let the guy try to steal our wallet, it's gonna lead to us fighting him in a publicly visible setting. Do we really wanna be running from the police again?
>>
>>25692057
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Then we pause. "Actually. How about this. We make a bet. You tell me what you do and then I'll tell you what I do. A hundred bucks to the stranger job."
>>
>>25692057
"Oh a bit of this, a bit of that. Odd jobs for... eccentric clients."

We might be able to get him to try to steal the ring, or become a cog in our plots if we offer him a job.
>>
>>25692037
Think of this as practice before we deal with the greed of the likes of our target. Once we find their weakness we exploit it and use it as our blade.

>>
>>25692285
"Well you're in luck, then. I've been tasked with... acquiring something rare and I believe I may find myself short of hand. What would you say to an opportunity? I can assure you, the pay would be fair."

It's time to make this man into a thief. We don't have to have him work right onto the ring, we can get him to start breaking into houses and stealing random shit. At the very least, it would season up his soul with lots of dickass thievery.
>>
>>25692347
We're low on cash anyway, lets take this man on a test drive or something. We can encourage his envy.

Time for muggings or con jobs.
>>
>>25692347
>>25692387
I think we should get a bit more info out of him beforehand. But I agree, more servitors would be great.
>>
>>25692347
Rewording since I don't think we're going to put him on the ring job would be best.

"Well you're in luck! Another pair of competent hands are always appreciated, so what would you say to some quick, easy coin? Something easy to start you off, how's that sound?"

Then we can go a burgling.
>>
>>25692422
Oh boy I love to burgle!
>>
>>25692316
>>25692347
"Oh, I'm sorry. However, I think this is your lucky day. Another pair of competent hands are always appreciated, so what would you say to some quick, easy coin? Something easy to start you off, how's that sound?" You continue to feed him gluttony and greed.

"Uh, what are you suggesting exactly? You want me to work for you, doing what?" Even though his words are skeptical, you can sense some hope and excitement.
>>
>>25692471
"Acquisition. My clients are mostly collectors of one kind or another, and unfortunately not all of what I am tasked to find is initially for sale. I want you to assist me in working around that issue."
>>
>>25692471
"Some basic procurement, getting odds-and-ends for us."

"Sounds good, I'll be sure to give you a call." It appears your approach worked, he seems excited by this new prospect.
>>
And now we're going to need to scope out some places to burgle.
>>
>>25692563
Let's go scope out the fancy rich guy neighborhood where the ring guy lives.

What day is it now? How long til the party?
>>
>>25692584
It is currently a Sunday, so six days.

You say your goodbyes, head out the door, and get in a taxi to take you to the neighborhood of your target.
>>
>>25692568
>>25692584
Yeah, scoping gives us something to spend our time on until party/meeting with the girls. BTW does the two clash?
>>
>>25692626

how much longer until we check up on our two darlings?
>>
>>25692584

i Second this
>>
>>25692626
You get there, and step out of the taxi, and start walking around. The neighborhood is very nice; Large houses, immaculate gardens, obviously its residents are very rich. It looks like there would be good pickings to burgle, also. However, you notice some houses have security equipment installed. Eric's house is easily one of the nicest you see. A huge yard, two stories, patio, swimming pool and fountain, the works. You can see why he has chosen this to be the party venue.

>>25692642
>>25692636
It's 2:30 now, the meeting is at five. As for the girls clashing, you haven't had too long with them yet to find out exactly how they interact.
>>
>>25692686

ambient energies surrounding the place? he wouldnt happen to have any protection 'not of this world'?
>>
>>25692686
Let's find a nice big house, maybe the one next to Eric's, and knock on the door. Hopefully, some Latina maid will answer. So all we have to do is lay the charm on thick and be all "I'm terribly sorry, but I was trying to get in touch with my friend and I'm out here without a phone. Well, not really. I have a phone, but the battery died." Smile, maybe a small groany 'oh why me' facepalm motion. "I need to be less forgetful." More charm. Smile. ""If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could I use the phone?"

Make sure we take the battery out of out phone and put it in our back pocket beforehand so we can mash buttons and try to turn it on.

When we get in, make mental note of the positions of shit to steal. Or if the maid is already somewhat corrupted by greed or lust or wrath or anything really, we can twist this for somethign even better.
>>
>>25692686

Causally search out possible escape routes in case things go south (well, souther than we like)
>>
>>25692686

>>25692721
There is a 7ft cast-iron fence around the property, but you could probably climb it without much trouble. The only gate is in the front driveway, in front of the house.
>>
>>25692756
Nvm. Forgot about the meeting with the girls at 5 ad we couldn't change back before that I don't think
>>
>>25692767

i think it best we save our energy to mold our two new followers, and to turn this party into a Sinfest
>>
>>25692766

Im in favor of a timeskip so we can mold our new minions, the party is in several days time, that will give us an opportunity to get inside the place and scout some more
>>
>>25692786
amen. Thiefguy was a worthwhile investment in the future, but for now we do what useful scouting we can, maybe get sinreads on some of the people here if they come around, then head for the meeting with the girls
>>
Just look at the house for a bit. Try to notice if anything is off. Note the cars, doors, and the windows, What's the backyard like?

After that, time to go back to bitches
>>
>>25692814
Backyard is large, well-maintained. As far as you can see, all doors/windows are shut, they look fairly sturdy. There is one sportscar in the driveway, but there could be more in the garage adjoining the house.

Since its around 3:30 now, you decide to head back to your hotel, so you can get to your meeting with the girls on time.
>>
>>25692843
Put on some fancy Hell cologne.

Soulless are just kinda like thralls or something, right?
>>
>>25692852

they can be, we have to give them that final push to become them.

So we'll need to do this carefully, or we'll need to kill them
>>
>>25692896
I don't think we'll need to kill them. Unless the police already know how we were spending our time in that bedroom, there is probably enough shame involved, at least for now, that they'll keep their mouth shut as much as possible. On the other hand, I think thrallifying them should be doable provided they show up. I suggest an approach along the lines of inducing a sort of sexual addiction to us.

Maybe we dont have the power to make them FULL demon, but two demonic thralls with minor powers could help us in the long run

Ah yes. Very good idea indeed. But I think we should hold off on that until they're well settled in addicting to our D as well as their submissive role. Then work on turning them into pseudosuccubi

No, they still have free will, and aren't automatically under your influence. You'll have to pull that kind of thing off yourself.

You get back to the hotel to freshen up, and begin your walk to the agreed meeting location. As you do so, your mind draws back to the night at the hotel. Will they both be there, just one, or even neither of them? You can't be too sure, given the circumstances. Its been two days, and your heavy dose of lust energy could have worn off by now.

As you approach the quiet intersection of backstreets, you can see that only one figure stands at the corner. Emily is there with her back against a streetlamp, waiting. You can feel her tense up as she sees you approach. She is wearing a red top with a black skirt which falls down to her knees, her hair falling around the sides of her face.

You arrive, and stand in front of her. There are a few moments of silence, while she collects her thoughts. Then, slowly, with some fear in her voice, she speaks.

"Look, I-I don't know who you are, or what you did to us, they say we were drugged but I know that's not what happened. And then he attacked you, and you got up even though he got the poker through your shoulder and now..." She reaches up to touch your shoulder, sees that the wound is gone. She pulls back, shocked.

"W-What are you?!"
>>
>>25693113
"You could say that I'm a guardian angel."

Smile, adjust clothes, "Just a bit more of a practical one. You're looking quite lovely, m'dear. A shame your friend wasn't able to make it."

Look Emily up and down. Anything that could be concealing a wire. "How are you holding up?" Then give a nice pulse of lust energy to erode at her mind.
>>
>>25693113
Shrug. "Just a man." Tilt head and smile slightly without showing teeth. "I'm glad you're not hurt."

Trying to think up a scheme to follow this nice little setup, but I'm drawing blanks. Maybe ask about Raine? I'm not sure.

If I'm not too far off, you'll have more questions and I'll be happy to answer them. But let's find a place to sit, maybe a cup of coffe? my treat."

Ask how she's holding up while finding such a place if she agrees

Dude, right now we've got points in lust and wrath. Focusing on one sin is a bad idea, not nearly enough utility. Subtlety is also a good thing for us, since we want to maintain cover and all. And wrath is the least subtle sin in most cases. Plus it's easier to get wrath going with emotion support via envy, lust, pride etc.
>>
Another idea for hilarity and corruption.

You look for anything that could be concealing a wire, but can't easily find such a location on her body. Her tank top tightly presses against her body, and is thin enough so you can see the outline of her bra beneath it. Possibly underneath her skirt, but you don't sense any emotions that would lead you to believe she would be double-crossing you.

"You could say something along the lines of a guardian angel. But more of a practical one." You feed some lust, and some trust. "You're looking lovely today, would you like to find a private place to talk? How have you been since Friday?" You offer your hand.

She steps back, staring into your eyes.

"You're no angel, an angel doesn't do what you did."

Hopefully the police have treated you well? I'd be lying if I didn't say I missed you." Give her a firm push of both to emphasize things.

Also, any thoughts on seeing about laying the foundations for some half-demons here? Our talents could go to great use sowing the seeds (ho ho) for a future army.

Exactly. The thing with the souls and loosing them and all that is a bit convoluted. We need to feed her some more trust beforehand instead of firing it off at the get-go. Hopefully the police have treated you well? I'd be lying if I didn't say I missed you." You feel that the subtle combination of reawakened lust, and your stream of trust are calming her down. "Would you like to get something to eat?"

She nods hesitantly. "Alright."

You begin walking down the street towards a cafe a block away.

"I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression when I talked about an angel. It was the closest simile I could think of."

She looks up at you again.

"Then what are you, really?"

"They say that people have souls. Little keys to the afterlife that take us to where we want to go; things that we never want to lose. I can feel these. I can feel them in every living thing that I meet. I can feel their purity, and I can feel their ruin. They are the least and most important thing that any of us will ever have, and if we should ever lose them... -That- is who I am."

She looks down, thinking, and then speaks again, Still looking down.

"Is that what you did to that man? To Raine, me?" She seems agitated. Your stream of trust is working to mitigate some of this, but it only goes so far.
>>
>>25693618

"No. That is what he would have done to you. I saved you from a fate far, far worse than the death that would have otherwise occurred."

Smile at her, "You seem to hold a lot of anger towards me. Care to take some of that anger out on me?" A nice shove of lust. "I'm standing right here, after all."
>>
>>25693618
LIE LIE LIE
"No, I just locked them in you. You should have died the other night. That asshole would have killed all of you. I could taste it in him. So I hid you and your cousin away from Fate. That's why I had to get the two of you close. I needed to be able to feel you the best that I could to do it."

"I'm sure you've been feeling strange since then, more than shock. That's because your soul is stuck in limbo until the ties I left on it loosen. I want to protect you. You're vulnerable tied up like this, but I couldn't you die."
Flood trust and fear into her.
>>
>>25693669
DO NOT LIE.

If we remain truthful with her, no matter how awful the truth may be it will foster trust. So long as fault cannot be found within us or our words, she will come back to us again and again to know what's going on.
>>
>>25693669
And lust. We already have her soul. Her usefulness to us is purely as a lackey and as a carrier for a potential fallback plan (demon child) at this point. It couldn't hurt to have her busy making an army for us either, especially if we have some ritual stuff to make her more suitable for that task.
>>
>>25693669
This. Put some emphasis on you, hint vaguely that saving her was more important to us than saving Raine.
>>
>>25693723
We've already taken their souls. They serve no further purpose. Let's end them.
>>
>>25693699
I understand your point, but I think lying here is a lot less likely to lose her than your suggestion unless we can develop yours more.

If we can do this without lying, I would like that, but I don't think that we can give her enough of a reason to help us without it.

She stops, and looks up at you. Your energy flooding her reaches a critical mass, and something inside her snaps, and the floodgates open. She starts talking fast, stumbling over her words. "I-Is that why I feel so... connected when I'm with you? I feel different then I've felt near anyone else, I feel safe. Raine has her family, but I feel so alone but not with you. She nods, you pay the bill, and you both walk back to the hotel, being careful to avoid busy streets where you might be spotted. She walks close to you, almost like she is bound by an invisible tether. You walk up her to your room, and you both decide to head to bed early tonight. You get in bed, and she curls up beside you. She falls asleep quickly, but you stay awake for a little while longer, considering your plans for her, Rook, and the party, before drifting off into sleep.

I can take a look for it.

Also, I've been working for a while on a quest with a somewhat similar premise but a more medieval/fantasy-like setting. Not sure when I'll kick it off tho
