Things are hot for VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST!

Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Valkyrian%20Mercs%20Quest

Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

You are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home.

You first arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact, and figh off an Imperial amphibious invasion by defeating their leader, Belkan Knight Sir Fleisher.

You then moved on to Ustio, where you helped the beleaguered defenders fend off an Imperial offensive and stage a counterattack. While there, you also took care of a personal mission for Qyburn, got a new weapon called the Buzzbomb, recruited some new squad members, and helped Isolde regain her honor by defeating the Knight leading the Imperial forces in the area, breaking the back of the Imperial offensive.

You then celebrated The Feast of All Saints, giving everybody some presents to strengthen your bonds with them. You then headed back to Gallia, only to find out the civil war hasn't been going well for the Loyalists. Things are desperate enough that they've hired you to participate in an upcoming mission.

You've also visited your old castle to find that your exiled grandmother had returned, and is trying to get the place back up and running with the help of some Darcsen refugees.

>Also, I forgot to mention this but I followed consensus posts and gave Sam a Theimer and Isolde a Lancaar.

Currently, you are sitting inside the hold the Vergeltung, waiting for the signal to begin the mission. Not wanting to miss any details, you open the file General Wellings had given you and review the briefing again.

Operation Alabaster Gale was the name of the Loyalist offensive aimed at retaking Randgriz. Units being reformed in Fouzen and Ghirlandio would make a combined push towards the capital and smash through the GRA with brute force. What also helped matters was reports that the GRA had pulled the majority of their V2 troops away to the South for reasons unknown, though possibly to deal with insurgent attacks that were harassing their supply lines, which meant now was the time to strike.

However, General Wellings gave you a different mission. Instead of participating in the main push, you and the Demons were to stage a direct strike on Randgriz Castle. At first you thought it was to assassinate the Gassenarl leadership, though Wellings stressed that it was to rescue Archduchess Cordelia. Once the offensive began, it would be impossible to guarantee her safety, so her rescue was paramount.

The plan was to use the Vergeltung to silently enter Lake Randgriz, directly behind the castle, and time the attack with the offensive in order to hit the castle at its weakest. Saying that this was a mighty ambitious plan was a bit of an understatement.

You decide to track down Elizabeth, thinking that it would be nice to have some good old fashioned intel. True, you've been given maps and pictures of Randgriz Castle, and you been there a couple of times so you know your way around, but enemy strengths, placements, and other nasty surprises are things that are distressingly unknown.

"Ah, hello, Captain." Elizabeth greets you as you enter the radio room. "What can I do for you?"

>CODEX ENTRY UNLOCKED

Spies: Spies are highly skilled and prized specialists possessing skills standard soldiers lack.

Before beginning a mission, Beta can be sent on two different tasks: INFILTRATE, or SUPPORT.

If Beta is tasked with INFILTRATING. She will attempt to infiltrate the enemy forces ahead of time. Depending on how successful she is, Beta can reveal enemy locations, identify alternate routes, or even sabotage the enemy. However, she will be unable to deploy with the unit.

If tasked with SUPPORT, Beta will occupy the Type-36 and act as a communications officer. She can attempt to intercept or disrupt enemy communications. Under ideal circumstances, she would even be able to impersonate an officer and literally give the enemy false orders.

Be warned, though. Espionage is a highly risky job. Infiltration can result in very bad outcomes if they fail, though the rewards may make the gamble worth it.

From Merc, thread 7, or part five in the archive's.

>Wooo! Finally back!

You are ELIZABETH PARKER, a professional spy (and part time author) who has just been tasked with the very important mission of infiltrating Randgriz Castle, possibly one of the most heavily fortified buildings in all of Gallia, and find and/or rescue Archduchess Cordelia.

Fortunately, you had sort of suspected that you would be sent in, so you already have an infiltration route in mind. General Wellings was kind enough to give you locations of some of the castle's numerous secret passages, and there was one that could be accessed from the lake. However, the path was pretty small and narrow, meaning you couldn't bring much equipment with you. However, it's not like you haven't done stuff like this before.

Your current inventory is a basic COMBAT KNIFE and LOCKPICKS. Anything else you'll have to acquire on your own.

It takes a while for you to shimmy your way through the secret passage, but soon enough you reach the exit, which leads to the castle's basement levels. You find yourself in an old food pantry. You carefully open the door, and see the back of a guard as he faces the other way down the hall. However, you can't see much else.

Fortunately, it doesn't seem like the basement is a priority to guard, and you can move through the basement levels relatively unmolested.

Mentally recalling the map of the castle, you know you've got two paths of entry to the Royal Chambers, where Cordelia is presumably being held.

>Go through the kitchen and make your way through the service entrances. Less chance of being discovered, but not a lot of room to maneuver.
>Cut directly there through the main chambers. Probably more guards, but you'll have far more options of movement.

Maid uniforms.

You decide to try and bluff the incoming staff, loading laundry into a basket and then you're finally able to overhear their conversations.

"Ugh! I hate how those old farts changed up the uniforms!" One of them complains. "How are supposed to do our jobs with the skirt lines this short and with all these frills?"

"Ugh! I know!" Another shakes her head. "And those guards are total pervs, too! That one guard, Lester I think? I have to keep shooing him away!"

The group of maids begin to disperse, each handling their own loads of laundry before one of them catches sight of you.

"Hey... I don't recall seeing you around. Are you new here?" She asks.

"Um, yeah." You say, putting on an air of a girl in a completely alien environment.

Jackpot. You have to keep from from grinning ear to ear. Sometimes unexpected surprises could make your mission far easier.

"Y-you know the Archduchess?" You say, half-genuine wonder gleaming in your eyes.

"Well of course!" Elise grins, soaking in the admiration. "Only the best can serve Cordelia, after all!"

"More like Cordelia evacuated most of the other servants before the GRA got here and we were all that was left." Leanne says bluntly.

"H-hey! We were just being loyal, that's all!"

"S-so you think I could see the Archduchess?"

So the three of you make your way to the Royal Chambers, getting into some idle chitchat, mostly about how perverted most of the GRA officers were and how they missed the "good old days" under Cordelia. You also learn that most of the guards had been transferred out of the palace, which is good for you and the Demons.

You just hold it in and weather the storm.

"Hey, man." The other GRA guard speaks up. "Let em go already so they can do their goddamn job already, like you should be doing."

"Just having some fun is all." Lester says, backing away.

With the toll paid, you and the other maids quickly shuffle past the guards, though you shoot a quick deathglare at Lester for a split second, leaving him a bit confused as what he saw was real or not. No matter what, once this mission went hot, Lester was gonna go first. Slowly.

Upon reaching Cordelia's chambers, you see the Archduchess herself in a simple gown and looking out the window overlooking the city of Randgriz, a sad look on her face.

"Archduchess, we've brought your laundry." Leanne says.

"Thank you, Leanne." Cordelia nods. Wow, she even took the time to learn her servants' names.

Well, since the spies were specifically looking for Darcsen to kill, I don't think the GRA is very likely to hire them as maids.
>>
>>25748530
>Time to put the plan into action

Waiting for the maids to leave would be more professional, but I think Cordelia would like to have her closest maids that had to stay behind know what's going on either way.
>>
Two guards at the door. Distract lester. Knife the alert guard first. THEN knife lester. Don't give him time to scream. Then ex filtrate out the basement like we came in.
>>
Keep the maids here, Cordelia obviously trusts them so they need to be in on the plan.
>>
>>25748673

>>
>>25748673
I was thinking of calling Lester up to 'help' move something. Then stabbing him...
>>
>>25748673

So our plan this entire time was to sneak in and kill one pervert? We should just tell Cordelia backup is on the way and she should hide us in her rooms so they don't grab her once shit gets real.

>>Time to put the plan in action.

>>
>>25748693
We have to kill the honest guard first. He's too focused on his job. Besides... save lester for last - it's more rewarding that way.
>>
>>25748700
Lester is causing a disturbance in the Maid!Force, and it has called out to us to rid them of this foul creature. All other concerns are secondary.

>>
>>25748530

>Time to put the plan in action.
>>
>>25748809
It's risky, but if we can get her out, or at least hide her somewhere else, that means that Jager & Co can storm the castle without having to worry about a "surrender or we kill the hostage" scenario.
>>
Getting her our now wouldn't work, we need the rest of the demons. Dressing her up as a maid is a pretty good plan though, at a distance maids "running in terror" all look the same.
>>
>>25748730
I recommend having someone distract Lester while we take out the straightlaced guard first.
>>
>>25748853
>Someone drops something and one of the maids have to pick it up.

>sntsnst them

>>
We don't even know what the plan is.

All we know is that we're putting it into action.
>>
>>25748851
What do you mean it wouldn't work? Seems pretty damn plausible if we play our cards right.

We need to get her somewhere safe
>>
>>25748915
Eh... that's the fun. We get to use some lateral thinking.
>>
>>25748530
You decide that now's the time to start putting the plan into action.Without missing a beat, you drop the basket and pull out your combat uniform and your beret.

"E-Elizabeth?" Elise blinks. "W-what's going on?"

"Ah... I'm afraid I haven't been entirely truthful with you. I'm from with the Demons of Randgriz."

Elise and Leanne both look confused, but realization dawns on Cordelia's face. She was the one that sanctioned the creation of the unit, after all.

"Ah, I see." Cordelia nods. "Then I suppose your allies are nearby?"

"Yep." You confirm. "I just need to let them know what's going on."

"Then that means-"

"Yes, Elise, I am going to kick Lester's ass when all this is said and done."

You quickly change out of your maid uniform and back into your regular one, setting the beret back on your head. You head to the window overlooking the lake and raise a flashlight, flicking it on and off in sequence.

In the distance, you see a pinprick of light flash in response.

"Okay, here's what we do." You turn to Cordelia and the maids. "I can't force you to do this, but I need you two to distract the guards. I can take them out, and then we get Cordelia down to the basement levels."

"W-we'll do it!" Elise says with conviction.

"We do serve the Archduchess, after all." Leanne agrees.

"Thank you for doing this." Cordelia bows her head.

Elise and Leanne then go back down the stairs, where Lester starts harassing them again. However, this time, you're silently stalking them, ready to strike.

At first you thought it was to assassinate the Gassenarl leadership, though Wellings stressed that it was to rescue Archduchess Cordelia. Once the offensive began, it would be impossible to guarantee her safety, so her rescue was paramount.

The guards never even see you coming. You swiftly knife the other guard in the neck, ending him quickly and painlessly. Lester's eyes widen in horror, but Elise and Leanne tackle him to the ground and keep him pinned. With all the heavy lifting they do, the maids are surprisingly much stronger than they look.

"Hey! Let go of me, you bitches!"

"Is that what you think of us now, Lester?" You grin. Normally, you weren't one for sadism, but dear Lester here earned a special place in your heart. The dark side of it.

Lester howls in pain as your boot meets his groin, though it's muffled as Elise clamps a cloth over his mouth. You let him linger for a few seconds before kneeling down.

"I'd like to say I'm sorry about this, Lester, but I just can't find any reason to." You say jamming the knife into the major artery located in his groin. Not normally a way attack somebody, but just as effective in killing them dead. Lester twitches for several seconds before falling silent. And so ended the life of Lester the Molester, bleeding out from a knife to the groin. There was probably something ironic or poetic in there, but you were on a short schedule.

"Okay, let's move!" You hiss. "It won't be long before they notice something's wrong!"

Don't forget though, the GRA still have a Nasty Surprise for the Demons. We don't know how many V2 units are here.

Without that Lanseal Intel, they're really at a severe disadvantage. But that's meta stuff. Personally, I think breaking the 'invincibility and inevitability' mystique around the GRA would do wonders. The few losses down south were negated by sacking Lanseal. Losing the Archduchess from underneath their noses...that's a black eye they can't make go away.

Also, the bullet you don't have to fire today, is one you might desperately need tomorrow.

Whatever the gate guards were expecting, it was NOT a full size Type-36 Medium Tank barging straight through the gate, splintering wood and sending soldiers running for their lives.

Meanwhile, Headcase fires off some shells at the strongpoints above the gate, knocking them out while the rest of the Demons make their way inside.

"Oh boy, it looks like they got a welcoming committee for us." Julia says.

As you sprint your way through the gate, you see several squads of GRA troops a few tanks responding to the breach. Well, you were going to be in for a tough fight.

You, Brillant begin spraying fire at the approaching GRA troops while Alek and Elsa try to find targets of opportunity for the ATR.

Meanwhile, Sam, Julia and Headcase open fire at the GRA armor.

One of your bursts manages to kill a GRA guard, while A shot from Alek takes the head off of an officer. Sam and Headcases shots score glancing hits on the GRA tanks, but Julia's 88mm blasts one apart. While the casualties you inflict are light, you provide the needed distraction for Tarin, Ramirez, and Heloise to reach the entrance to the main castle.

The return fire bounces harmlessly off Fenrir's front armor, the hardened plates shrugging off bullets and shells alike. However, while taking cover behind the tanks was nice, you don't really have a good firing position here.

Fortunately, to the right, you see stairs leading up to the battlements above, which would give you a commanding view of the courtyard below.

"Julia! Headcase! Give us some cover!" You yell.

"Roger that!" Julia says and Fenrir trundles forward at a walking pace, keeping your squad shielded from fire as you press toward the stairs. However, the only problem was getting up said stairs, since Fenrir wasn't large enough to physically cover the whole thing.

The GRA troops send up some withering fire, showering the battlements with bullets. A bullet slams into your chestplate and ricochets off, sending you staggering but you're still standing.

Unfortunately, the rest of your squad is not so lucky.

You see Alek take a couple of hits to his leg and side, but he seems to be trying to ignore the pain while setting up his ATR, with Elsa trying to administer first aid to him. You can see some sort of inhuman fire in his eyes.

And Sam, you see her take several rounds to her chest, causing her to gasp and fall over. Your body suddenly grows cold and your heart stops, as if a giant, icy fist has clutched it.

No, she's not a Valkyria. This was the result of a critfail save.

You stop for a moment and take a few deep breaths, clearing the haze that had been clouding your vision. Those GRA bastards could wait. Sam was the priority now. With renewed purpose, you sprint across the battlements, either unaware or uncaring of the bullets flying your way. Seeing your mad charge, your squadmates increase their fire in order to cover you. Alek in particular is in some sort of bloodrage, blowing apart torsos and heads with every shot, living up to the "one shot one kill" mantra of all snipers.

You finally slide into position next to Sam. You're not sure if she's alive or not but the blood pooling under her body is not a good sign. Without thinking or hesitation, you pull out both yours and her ragnaids and activate them, bathing Sam in the blue healing light. You see Sam's eyelids twitch and she gives a slight groan. You breathe a sigh of relief. She's still alive, if only barely.

"Captain!" You hear Tarin's voice buzz through the radio. "We've linked up with Elizabeth! What are your orders?!"

>>
>>25751818
"Demons, WE ARE LEAVING!" You yell, picking up Sam in you arms. "Mortar team! Full bombardment! Drop every goddamn shell you've got! Davos! Fire a buzzbomb at the gate the moment we clear it!"

With that, you sprint down the stairs with Brillant giving you covering fire and tossing his smoke grenade. Alek, still in that bloodrage sate, is actually running and gunning with the ATR, pausing every couple of seconds to take an aimed shot, with Elsa frantically tugging at him to keep him moving.

Tarin, Ramirez, and Heloise finally make their return with Elizabeth, Cordelia, and a couple castle servants in tow. They contribute their own firepower and smoke grenades to cover their retreat.

Finally, all of you are through the lake gate, and the Fenrir and Kilroy quickly reverse out, firing as they go.

There's a bright flare on the surface of the lake, and a loud buzzing noise is heard in the air.

The buzzbomb screams down at the perfect moment, just as the GRA forces are pushing through the gate to pursue you. In an instant, two GRA tanks and a squad of infantry are either incinerated or buried under tons of rubble. You then all pile into the assault boats you had prepared earlier for your escape, while the Fenrir and Kilroy activate their amphibious modes.

"Sorry about all the damage we caused to your castle, Archduchess." You apologize as the remains of the lake gate burn in the distance.

"Don't worry." Cordelia shakes her head and smiles. "Every castle, even Randgriz Castle, has been destroyed and rebuilt at some point. It's the people that are impossible to replace."

You see Cordelia's eyes divert from yours and shift to the unconscious Sam, who you are cradling in your arms as Heloise tries to figure out the full extent of the damage.

"You are Jager Sturmfuhrer, correct?" Cordelia asks. "I remember this girl... Samantha I believe. She came to the palace on your behalf almost a year ago."

There are a shitton of different mine types (tripwire, bouncing betty, claymore, etc) but the majority are a simple disk shaped pressure plate with a safety pin in the fuse that stops them from going off. You don't even need to bury it in some cases because once people see the mine they slow the fuck down.

In fact if you play the actual game the AP and AT mines are exactly like this.

>>25752267
Ehhh don't worry about it. Maximilian already gave Castle Randgriz the Marmota once already.

>>25752408
If she gets a paper cut that makes her seem dead yeah maybe. Honestly Jager wouldn't react as badly if it was just a injury she got in war time. But she almost died which would make him react that way.

>>
>>25752555

>>
>>25752536
>>25752555
There is also this point: flying into such a rage is a weakness that someone could exploit down the line. I mean look at how we exploited some of the knight's weaknesses.
>>
>>25752451
Depends on how, uh, cavalier you want to be with it.

But looking back our area of operations was actually pretty tiny. Basically one gate, a courtyard and a section of battlements. If there were more chokepoints like the gate or twists and turns then mines would have been very helpful. But in this case all we could have used them for was to block the gate, and we buzzed that instead.

Merc can you clarify how the mines are used? I take it that carrying mine would mean using a belt slot right? So no C4 or ragnaids in that slot for one thing. If we buy them can we use them in large operations like the beach landing?
>>
>>25752486
>Pull the pin and toss it like a frisbee.
I have actually seen an ATO do that with an inert anti tank mine.
>>
>>25752583
Yes, but who doesn't have a weakness or two?
Jager is rather emotionally unstable when it comes to losing people he care about, but since just about everyone on that list is a trained soldier...
>>
>>25752583

Well yeah. But Jager stayed calm and just went for excessive force so he could be sure and extra careful for his troop. Be very hard to take advantage of "Will calmly bomb the crap out of you excessively if you hurt his friend"

>>25752585
Oh wow. Honestly though mines are best when you have time to set up more then 1. Or around corners placing them under fire. is about the worst time to do so.
>>
>>25752633
Besides the resources used in such a thing? It'd be pretty easy to do such a "feint" then reveal one's big guns that the heavy artilitery should have been used on instead.
>>
>>25752664

Well yes. But first one would need to hurt a squadmate enough in plain view hard with the demons. Then they would need to handle the force and outpace us. It is a flaw but it isn't something easily taken advantage of and takes noticing to begin with.
>>
>>25752282
"You... remember that?" You gape.

"I make it a habit to try and remember the plight of my subjects." Cordelia says. "Every Gallian is precious to me."

"Even the GRA?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Yes, even them." Cordelia nods. "Even if they are largely misguided, I still believe many of them have the capacity to do good."

"So then, how is it that you remember Sam so well?" You ask.

"Well, it's simple, really." Cordelia smiles. "She's the daughter of one my generals, after all. It would be a crime not to know her. When she came to request me to sanction the formation of your company, I was fully expecting her to try and use her connections with her father, and I was surprised that she didn't."

"Really?" You blink.

"No, she merely told me how you were a loyal and dedicated soldier of Gallia, and how you could be trusted with the sort of power I granted to you. To earn the unerring loyalty of such an intelligent and resourceful young woman like that, well, I believe supporting you was an idea that had merit."

You... honestly don't know what to say. You knew Sam really admired you a lot, but to have so much of it that it bled over into the freaking Archduchess herself?

"You don't have to have the blood of the Valkrur to be an exceptional individual." Cordelia continues, stroking Sam's dirty and tangled hair. "I can sense it in both you and her. As long as you support one another, you are destined to do great things."

Before you can say anything else, your boat finally reaches the Vergeltung. Sam is quickly carried off along with Alek to the infirmary, while Davos helps Cordelia up out of the boat.

On an unrelated note, Merc if possible could we ask Qy to develop an unguided and minituarised version of the Buzzbomb? They'd make nice siege weapons we can tack onto our tanks.

Also is there a possibility of giving our mortar guys an upgun, I'm thinking 120mm mortars, they were used widely by the Ruskies in WWII and everybody else started adopting 120mm's when they realised that much fire power in a mortar was fantastic.

You decide to escort Cordelia for the moment. You remember how cranky doctors can get about being interrupted when treating patients. Shipboard doctors were even worse, since the cramped conditions made them even crankier when valuable space was wasted by bystanders.

"So what do you think will happen now that you're freed? How is this civil war going to end?" You ask Cordelia.

"Those are complicated questions with no clear answers." Cordelia sighs. "Obviously, the Gassenarls must be deposed. I could have granted them amnesty before, but attacking Randgriz and seizing the throne in a coup is treason, which is a crime that cannot be forgiven."

"Well, you know who to call, in that case." You say.

"Of course." Cordelia nods. "Now, if you excuse me, I need some rest due to today's events."

With that, the rest of the night seems to be like a blur. The ship's doctor informs you that both Sam and Alek will be fine. Their wounds were serious but not serious enough that a shipboard doctor couldn't fix them up. However, Sam is still unconscious and it's not clear when she'll wake up, while Alek was dragged off by Elsa to parts unknown.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth seems to have become pretty close to the two servants that followed her and Cordelia out. Every time you look in her direction, Elizabeth suddenly starts getting rather awkward and uncomfortable, piquing your suspicions...

However, by the next morning, Randgriz is back in Loyalist hands. The GRA forces were routed by General Wellings and sent fleeing back south. Unfortunately, even though a huge chunk of the GRA leadership was captured, Baldren Gassenarl was able to escape capture and his whereabouts were currently unknown.

Meanwhile, Cordelia returned to Randgriz to resume her place as Gallia's rightful ruler.

(cont)
>>
We've cleared one objective, but there is still a fucking war outside going on. It's alright to worry about Sam, but the situation at the moment doesn't really allow that because we still need to raise hell on the GRA army from their flanks so the loyalist can breach the city

Also, with the recapture of Army HQ, contact was reestablished with Lanseal and other southern units. You find out that both Arty and Matt are both alive and well, though the news is rather hollow considering Sam is in no condition to hear the news.

You feel more than a bit guilty having to explain Sam's close call with death to her own father. Thankfully, General Wellings doesn't blame you for it. While the death of one of his sons still stings, he doesn't blame you for Sam getting hurt Shit happens in war, after all. He has her transferred to the best hospital in Randgriz.

Two days after the battle, Sam finally regains consciousness, which is a good thing for you since you had been sitting at her side for pretty much all of those two days.

"...Cap?" She croaks, blinking rapidly as her eyes see the sun for the first time in days.

"Sam!" You bolt up from your chair. "You're awake!"

"Yeah... I kinda screwed up real bad there, didn't I? Getting shot up like that..."

"Hey, we rescued Cordelia, and everybody's still fine." You say, putting a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Nothing to worry about."

"Yeah, well, I guess you could say I had one of those near death experiences." Sam frowns, obviously troubled. "I-I guess I learned that I shouldn't just sit around waiting for things to happen..."

"Sam, what are you talking abou-"

"JAGER!" She yells, her face now becoming red as a strawberry. "W-WILL YOU BE MY BOYFRIEND!?"

We still need to hunt down Karla to officially put that relationship to rest, but hey. Having Sam next to us when we do sounds great to me.
Besides, if he spent two days by her bed, worrying and waiting for her to wake up, it's time he admits that there's more than just a professional looking out for his subordinate there.
>>
>>25753160
So it has come to this..
Thanks for the run merc was fun.
>>
>>25753160
as a Karlafag, I hate you so much, because saying no right now, with her in her current condition, would be really shitty

I hate you so much MC
>>
Time to build bunkers for the shitstorm that'll errupt as I don't think we can delay it again, thus force the point and then provoke a waifu war so bad it'll put EWII to shame.
>>
>>25753160

Whelp.
>>
>>25753225
What can I say, sometimes the characters just aren't going to sit around for you to make your move (if ever).

That and critfails are delicious. I've literally never had a crifail save up until now.
>>
>>25753160

Honestly I kind of see him saying he wants to get over his past first. But after everything is out of the way he will.
>>
>>25753259
what exactly critfailed or got saved to result in Sam getting badly wounded like that?
>>
>>25753225

Agreed, it would feel like kicking a puppy.
>>
>>25753265
>Rolled 20, 1, 14, 7, 19, 19, 7, 5

Is the foes rolls. Then sam rolled a nat 1 for her save.
>>
>>25753265
Usually in big combats I do rolls in the background to save time, and I also randomly allocate hits. Sam rolled a nat 1 on her save, against a 19 to hit. A 20 would've instantly killed her in that situation.
>>
>>25753239
I'm hoping MC just railroads us on this one and he just says yes (or at least, "yes, but only after I've dealt with Karla"), because the Karla-fans raging over a railroad is still the lesser evil compared to the shitstorm an actual vote would cause.

Either way, thanks for running the quest for us. See you in a while, then.
>>
>>25753160

oh my. well, it was bound to happen one way or the other.

I'd like Karla and Jager to make up but i won't object if we get together with Sam.
Dealing with Karla will likely be more difficult if we do though.
>>
>>25753264
this is pretty much what he said when she first asked about taking their relationship further

Consensus was very clearly "I can't even start to think about stuff like that until things with Karla are resolved" but we merely put things off with the equivalent of "maybe, ask me later"
>>
>>25753225

Heh yeah, I was originally thinking the Karla path would be too good to pass up, but that was when Sam was just our buddy. I don't want to shoot her down now that she has been pretty much the perfect XO and friend.
>>
>>25753295
Good thing we had those re-rolls available eh?
>>
>>25753295
Oh dear. I can't even imagine what would have happened in the thread if Sam's head just went splat instead.
That's just so far out there that... Just no.
>>
>>25753305
Yeah, well, near death experiences tend to change a person's line of thinking.
>>
>>25753326
T-that's what rerolls are for, right?
>>
>>25753295
> A 20 would've instantly killed her in that situation.

Oh dear lord the pure rage Jager would have in that situation. I think he would gun down the GRA himself with no need for a army.

Also what did alek roll? I'm kind of curious since he went blood rage.
>>
At some point we should use the phrase "don't be such an old maid" when speaking with Elizabeth just to see her twitch.
>>
>>25753335
Yeah, but still.
Imagine what would happen...
Just... Splat.
>>
>>25753337
>Also what did alek roll? I'm kind of curious since he went blood rage.
he gets like that when you take into account his low HP buff, and pair him with Elsa buff
>>
>>25753323
Usually hidden rolls really aren't that serious, but the way they lined up today, I just couldn't resist.

But I honestly would have asked for a reroll if that 20 were allocated to Sam instead of the 19. I'll only ever prompt for rerolls if it's an ultra bad outcome.
>>
>>25753337
He got hit and his potential kicked in. Apparently instead of pain he feels murder.
>>
Dammit Sam.

Yes.

If nothing else, our little freak-out moment there should have driven it home just how much Jager cares about Sam.

We chose this path when we did every boyfriend-like thing in the fucking book for Sam except for physical affection, when we KNEW she was interested in us, so its far too late to complain. It was bound to happen, it was only a matter of time.
>>
>>25753355

Yeah I know just kind of wondering how bad his roll was to get injured that badly.

Also I will say it again.

Hardcore alek is hardcore. Jager really needs to comment that his life or death reactions are glorious.
>>
>>25753337
He took 2 hits and failed both of them, but not with as ridiculous margins that Sam did.

Which is kind of ironic consider Sam literally has twice the amount of protection that Alek does.
>>
>>25753368

My only regret is that we didn't spend more time romancing Tarin!
>>
>>25753390

god damn GRA with their magic bullets!
>>
Welp I'm going to be stuck waiting until Tues to find out how things turn out/vote.
>>
the way this is going, we aint gonna be the one to fight Karla, Sam is...
>>
>>25753388

I'd imagine he was all "Center the scope, pull the trigger, Center the scope, pull the trigger" mode when his potential kicked in
>>
>>25753479
*BANG* "Not now, Elsa." *BANG* "I have to kill them." *BANG* "All of them." *BANG*
>>
>>25753368
Well Merc Com did say we were coming up to a point where we'd have "to nut up or shut up."

Also wondering what's up with Elizabeth. We should talk to her when we can just to see what's going on.

Re: Sam... I'm not overly sentimental, but it makes sense. I do agree that Jager will probably have to get closure on the whole Kaaaaaaaaaaaarla!!thing, but... he'll have to cross that bridge when he gets there
>>
>>25753506

And you just know she loved every minute of that show he put on for her.
>>
>>25753539
Why do you think she dragged him to god knows where? Seeing him in near death alpha = motor running
>>
>>25753539
Of course. Why do you think she dragged him off to "parts unknown" as soon as the doctors released him?

Nobody knows though, that the next day he returned to the doctors with his wounds re-opened and severe friction burns.
>>
>>25753533
As a former Karlafag I have the say the experience of her almost getting brained has... changed my position on the matter. Sam is obviously just as important to Jager as Karla was, but she's also right in front of our face asking us to love her back.
>>
>>25753533
All I can say is this:

My Body is Ready.
>>
>>25753533
Clearly Elizabeth "accidentally" brought the miniskirt maid uniform with her when they escaped the castle.
>>
>>25753506
>>25753539
Yeah when he's near death he basically becomes a CoD quick scoper.

>>25753533
>Well Merc Com did say we were coming up to a point where we'd have "to nut up or shut up."

I was not kidding when I said that. Plus, you know, things will never go according to plan, both in missions and during social time.
>>
>>25753579
Wasn't he just shot in the leg? Couldnt he just lay back and admire girl on top?
>>
>>25753616
Leg and side.
And even so, you think Elsa is going to go that easy on him after he just went SuperSniper?
>>
>>25753160

I think Jager will need to make sure Sam understands the risks of a "yes" answer - and he has had some time to think on the issue. Aside from the likelihood that resolving things with Karla will be very ugly, the answer Sam wants will paint a large bullseye on Sam.

That said, I can't really see a reason to tell her no. Sam is choosing to stay, and has made her intention clear from early on.

With all respect to Karla and her fans (and I can see the appeal), that relationship bridge has long been burnt, nuked, and planetbombed from high orbit...by her.

There can be a Karla resolution, but it will (likely) end with the death of one or both. Jager just isn't built to forgive what she has done, regardless of her reasons.
>>
>>25753660
The bullseye is very meta though, it's not as if our enemies will instantly know "that's the girl their commander is dating, SHOOT HER!" as soon as Sam enters battle.
But it will make her a target for delicious drama, so I can understand if MC is tempted to have enemies shoot at her if they are choosing between her and some random other Demon.
>>
>>25753160

If Jager agrees I can only picture him shouting back awkwardly. "Y-YEAH SURE"
>>
>>25753660
It's just gonna be amazing when Karla went all "Hell hath no fury like a Valkyur scorned"
>>
>>25753660
Also, she has had a lot more time to think about it than Jager, (or rather, they've had the exact same amount of time, but she's the only one that has actually been thinking) so I'm pretty sure she knows full well the risks.
>>
>>25753731

...and all the more delicious when Jager triumphantly puts her down, gaining a final resolution as Sam cries over our crumpled, dying body.
>>
>>25753660
>Jager just isn't built to forgive what she has done, regardless of her reasons
I dunno about that. Jager may hate Imps with a burning passion but he's been nothing but reasonable to other Belkans.
>>
>>25753819
nah, she'd just watch in horror as Karla embraced Jager and activated the Valkyur's final flame
>>
>>25753702
>The bullseye is very meta though

Is it?

Considering the name we are making for ourselves, I think it very unlikely that Jager having a girlfriend would stay secret for long. I can't see Sam wanting to keep it hidden (and I'm sure the various Demons already know her feelings).

We are making an awful lot of enemies, after all. Not all of them are Belkan knights either.

That's without even considering what twisted things Karla may have planned.
>>
>>25753605
He was managing that massive recoil all the while too.

Bloody Hell, even Ramirez would think twice about pissing Alek off.
>>
>>25753852
>Jager may hate Imps with a burning passion but he's been nothing but reasonable to other Belkans.

Karla's a special case, however. She made it a deeply personal betrayal. It's why Jager wants answers directly from her, likely in the moments before he tries to kill her (and she, him, in all likelihood).

It's not a professional conflict, like it is with the knights. Jager can see eye to eye with fellow soldiers/mercs. After all, it's what he is doing as a merc.
>>
>>25754046
>he tries to kill her
I honestly hope Jager does not kill Karla, if anything for Belka's sake
>>
Only just made it to this thread, goddammit MC, why must you make me choose?! WHY CAN'T EVERYONE BE HAPPY?!

Also, if we turn Sam down, and end up not marrying Karla in a wedding all princess' dream off, I will burn your house down with you still inside of it.
>>
>>25754004

Dudes got survival instincts that's for sure.
>>
>>25754004
>Bloody Hell, even Ramirez would think twice about pissing Alek off.
anybody would, considering how attached Elsa is...
>>
>>25754071
>I honestly hope Jager does not kill Karla, if anything for Belka's sake

Bah, Belka doesn't need Karla. Karla ran from the hard choice and took the easy way out, in my opinion (even if I'm certain she has very good Belkan reasons for what she is doing).

Might have been interesting to have Karla fighting at our side from the start, with Belka targeting the Demons and trying to either assassinate or kidnap her.

In any case, we have a perfectly awesome Belkan in the Demons who is better, anyhow, and she isn't afraid to fight against them.
>>
>>25754214
> took the easy way out
There was no easy way out...
>>
>>25754178

Kind of actually want to see how tarin and Elsa act around each other. I can just see her talking about the insane jump Tarin did.
>>
>>25754214
Yeah, easy way out by betraying the love of her life in order to prove the loyalty of her kingdom

You do realize if she had just escaped to be with Jager, Belka would have lost its legitimacy and would likely have lost any sort of autonomy and rights.

As the Princess and the Grandmaster, she has an obligation toward the Belkan people to act in the in their interest, even if it means making the choice to kill Jager
