Your codename, your only name, is Delta Phoenix. You were a ghost of the Terran Dominion until the recent fall of Korhal and death of Emperor Mengsk gave you back your free will. Now, on the fringes of Dominion space, you have gone rogue.

After finishing your last mission and killing Councilman Migar on Umoja, you escaped with Dominion Dissidents and defected Umojan security forces on a Hercules-class transport, as well as your fellow rogue dominion marine, Corporal Jacob Henderson.

Your first stop was a Dominion research station in orbit over Jungle World XTYU003, a remnant of the Brood Wars, where you accidentally activated a rogue A.I. You stopped the menace, and began mining operations. Planetside you met a Protoss Dark Templar, who gave you a cryptic message that you would meet again.

You then went to Space Platform A-22-OP in orbit over planet Jestos. You took on the Diablos Locos gang by yourself, but were captured. You managed to recruit your interrogator, Mia Rodriguez, who has proven herself an invaluable pilot. You then managed to assassinate the leader of the Rosemary's Angels by hijacking her Banshee mid flight and throwing her into the propellers.

In Order to gather resources you travelled to Desert World JD001, where you raided Dominion bases and transports, rescuing civillians. Unfortunately the operation cost you your hand, which was replaced by a less effective cybernetic.

You attempted to jump to Battlecruiser Hydron, but landed in the middle of a zerg swarm. Evasive short-range jumps saved your ship, but damaged the battlecruiser. You boarded the ship and removed the zerg queen at a heavy cost. With the zerg forces broken, you repaired the ship as much as you could, and made a blind jump to escape the incoming zerg reinforcements.

The ship lurches to a halt. Dead zerglings smolder around you, and you hear the engines powering down. You radio the bridge of the Hercules.

>"Status report, Ensign."
>"Sir, Sensors indicate a number of asteroids. The ship is currently in a slow 'freefall' through space, Aft is currently rising at a 10% gradient. I'll do what I can to stabilize her but we need her bridge online before we regain manuerverability. I'm also detecting structural weaknesses, if we jump again we'll damage the ship."
>"Are there any forces in the sector?"
>"None, sir. Nothing on any - Scratch that, I'm detecting an incoming transmission, looks like it's a civilian station somewhere in the field. Putting you through."
>"Get out of here, Dominion Boys! You ain't gonna find us no time soon an' we ain't scared of yer big ship!"
>"Transmission ended, sir. I can't trace it."

You wonder if it's a good idea to disable your Dominion transponder, but that might be the only thing keeping pirates away from you. At any rate, you'll need to make those repairs, and soon.

>>25800996
Tactical note: Scrapping the Hercules will bring Vespene Reserves to 180 Vespene. We will require additional Vespene gas to repair additional components.
>>
Just have scvs move as a single group to begin repairs on bridge with marine escorts.

No salvaging, we need the ships.

After bridge, crew quarters, then weapons.

Get the cruiser somewhere it can be hidden, and then we keep working while the Valkyrie gets sent with mia and the corporal on recruitment runs to find more crewmen.

Salvage the hercules when the crew quarters and weapons are up.

Small number of men to guard engines with dp moving about the ship to hunt any zerg who remain.

Once shit is fixed (ish) and we cna both jump and shoot, we go harvest more shiny rocks somewhere.
>>
>>25800934
>Attempt to locate Civlian base for trade using Wraith.

I'd rather us have the upper hands on negotiations, we can contact them safely on our own terms instead of theirs. We can explain the situation if needed then, but I'd like to keep the transponder going for now, we don't know what else is in here. Once we're combat worthy we can take it off.
>>
>>25801024
If we can't ix shit even after scrapping the Hercules, we should leave it alone.

We're going to need to be able to jump and set up shop to harvest gas somewhere.
>>
>>25801024
Understood. Repair Weapons control and attempt to radio civilians for supplies.
>>

The Hercules provides enough gas to repair a single component.

We are currently 20 gas behind requirements to repair a single component.
>>
>>25801094
>e are currently 20 gas behind requirements to repair a single component.
weapons control is only 50 gas. We have 80. Let's do that.
>>
Gusy, morale is pretty much shot.

We can't scrap the ship. No bridge we drift helpless. No crew quarters, we get a mutiny.

We can't fix both, so let's keep our only escape option in one piece.

We could, however, scrap the drop ship. the valkryie can hold 30 people (more capacity than we have soldiers) anyway, and is armed. We don't need the dropship with it around, do we?
>>
>>25801163
Planet-Hopper class dropship is currently registered as Mission Critical for any boarding actions.

Dropship can be salvaged for 50 Minerals and 50 Gas.
>>
>>25800914
We sacrifice the Valkyrie to bring the Bridge online. From there, we will have control of the Battlecruiser which is important, so we can move and find a place to mine and get gas for the weapons systems in weapon control. Right now we don't need to get living quarters up, we need to get control of our main ship.
>>
What about fixing guns on the battlecruiser and then contacting the "no dominion here" guys and trying to buy some vespene from them. If they are aggressive blast few holes in their ships with our now fixed weapons
>>
>>25801189
Why can't we board via valkryie?

>>25801229
Becasue without the bridge, we cannot maneuver.
>>
>>25801229
Battlecruiser Hydron is currently out of range of any bases located within the asteroid field.

Bridge functionality must be restored to use weapons offensively.
>>
>>25801229
>>25801253
Also, we lack the crew to man the guns.Nobody qualified and not enough of them even if they were.

On top of that, we still need anti-zerg secuirty.
>>
>>25801253
Valkyrie does not possess auto-wielder technology.

Boarding without auto-wielder technology requires remote hacking of airlocks, or existing hull damage for entry.

Valkyrie can make planet-based deployments.
>>
>>25801270
Automatic batteries can be activated using weapons control.

A.I. accuracy is 50% of trained gunners.
>>
>>25801261
Okay, if we go and contact with with the Wraith we might be able to purchase some Vespene gas from them and solve this without having to salvage everything.
>>
>>25801312
I concur, but be extra careful as we doesn't have no idea what kind of people they are.
>>
I have a suggestion. While repairs are underwent depending on what is consensus is. How about the Ghost scouts the ship eliminating Zerg and hopefully finding some vespene gas stored somewhere.
>>
>>25801312
I'm willing to go with this for the time being. Hell, I'll even let them overcharge us a litte.
>>
>>25801364
All resources on the Hydron were Assimilated during Zerg occupation.

Only mineral-based scrap materials may remain.
>>
>>25801312
Shall we go out and pilot the Wraith ourselves?
>>
>>25801364
Good idea, we could find something that we could use and get rid of the remaining zerg.
>>
>>25801382
Is it possible to turn zerg units into vespene gas somehow?
>>
>>25801391
Mia can pilot if there's anywhere not piloting for us to sit. It means we can still cover negotiations, and if need be leave the Wraith while keeping it defended.
>>
Remember:

- DP is a Ghost, adept at covert operations. We have gotten the best results (start of quest) by being stealthy, safe and very fast if needed be.

- Always account for a third/unspoken option. Extra intelligence or ingenuity adds to our odds and those of our crew.

- We have a large party. It is based on morale, loyalty and macro, macro, macro. It is largely composed of civilians and petty criminals that are safe in border zones.
>>
>>25801382
Hmm, change of plans. What are the closest planets to us currently?
>>
>>25800914
>Attempt to locate Civlian base for trade using Wraith.

The only reason why the civies aren't attacking us is probably because they fear retribution from dominion forces. If they find out that we're out numbered with a gigantic disabled rare ship they'll probably try and jump our shit for this rare ship

We must not even mention that our battleship is disabled also. No signs of weakness
>>
>>25801405
Zergling anatomy contains 0% Vespene gas.
Queen anatomy contains 0% Vespene gas.
Infestor remains destroyed by hellfire grenades.

We lack proper facilities to recover minerals from zerg carapace.
>>
>>25801419
Scanning current system, please wait...

Scans indicate the system only contains the asteroid field and a gas giant.

Gas giant is composed of Hydrogen, Helium, Argon, Caslon, Vespene.

We do not currently have technology required to mine vespene from the nearby gas giant.
>>
>>25801418
Dude DP is a TERRIBLE ghost. As in she suck balls at everything that doesn't involve killing. Its a wonder we graduated as a ghost at all.
>>
>>25801419
If there is something nearby that is considered safe, we could dispatch our Hercules to bring vespene and other supplies from that location.
>>
>>25801485
Can we mine the asteroid fields?

Do they contain minerals and vespene?
>>
>>25801485
Hm in that case have our planet hopper transport ship scrapped. That is if our hercules craft capable of replacing it.
>>
alright, guys, I think we're stuck with the diplomatic option.

Let them know we're not dominion, and that we're here to trade for vespene. But, if they try anything funny, we can say that we've got our batteries pointed at them.
>>
>Find Civilian base for trade

Our Dropship can be loaded should we have the need to haul big stuff.

>Acquire schematics for possible trade. We gun runners now
>Rebuild bridge and weak spots
>>
As I see it, we don't have enough gas to do anything worthwhile. Our only option to get more gas, outside of scrapping ships (which all have negative consequences), is to send out the Wrath to scout for trading buddies.

Send out Wrath to search for trade partners. We need gas, badly. Failing a way to mine some, we need to be able to trade for it.

All other things take a lower priority.
>>
>>25801525
We don't have any specialized mining craft. Though we could jury rigg a mining operation by using a transport ship and SCVs.
>>
>>25801451
I go with this
>>
>>25801525
We have detected 4 asteroids capable of mining with SCV and dropship.

All asteroids contain mineral deposits.

One asteroid contains water, iron, silicon, and unknown deposits.
>>
>>25801568
While we're performing some diplomatic stuff to the civies could we mine those asteroids also?

Or does this require a lot of time and manpower?
>>
>>25801535
The only thing they need to know is that we want to buy vespene from them.

To prove we are serious, a ghost will show up. We don't want to TAKE the vespene from you, but we can if we wanted to. So lets be civilised so you can SELL the vespene and get some creds. This is the kind of impression we should leave.
>>
>>25801509

This is a good idea based on our current situation. But first we need to establish trade with the locals. Once we have the ship has the critical systems running, we can go off on resource gathering runs with the Hercules. That way, we can leave the Battleship to focus on repairing the superstructure and improving morale...
>>
>>25801568
Dispatch a team to check out the strange asteriod with unknown deposits. We got plenty of minerals still. Hopefully it has something good.
>>
>>25801600
Deploying SCVs to mineral deposits will increase time of repairs to Hydron.

Mineral collection will be slow as we cannot land our command center currently.
>>
>>25801616
thinking that is where the civies are
>>
>>25801568
Are there any vespene geysers on any of the asteroids? Scan for those please.

Hm in that case remove the stealth device form the Banshee and place it into the wraith then scout it out.

Wraith cockpits do not allow for passengers.

If Mia locates the civilians she will be the first contact. They will either agree to open channels with the Hydron or open fire on Dolphin 13.

Note: It is 72% likely the civilians are criminals. Mia has experience with criminal elements.

Valkyrie will need to be disengaged from the Hydron's FTL computers. An emergency jump will take longer and poses a hazard to the Hydron crashing into an object, resulting in irreparable damage.

You decide to keep the Hercules for now. If everything goes well you won't need to scrap it when everything is said and done.

You head out to the Docking bay. Several SCVs are preparing Mia's Wraith for launch. You approach her directly as she sits in the cockpit.

>"You're my best pilot so far. This mission's dangerous. The Hydron's registering as Dominion, but your wraith won't. Remember: We just need the gas."
>"Don't worry about me, this is nothing compared to some of the things I've done."

You give a last nod, then return to the Hercules. It will be some time before she returns.

Valkyrie was also built to kill space fighters, so that isn't much of a concern, is it?
>>
>>25801947
I'm pretty sure the Valk would be outnumbered if they decided to attack, which would be very bad for us. It's good in that engagement, but sometimes running is more important than killing a few people.
>>

fair enough.

I still think we should look into arming it with air to ground weapons/auto welders in the future.

Use it when the cruiser is too much attention, you know?

You find private Daluke alone in one of the Civilian quarters, holding an empty bottle of Synthohol in her hands. You speak first upon entering the room.

>"Private. I wanted to speak with you."
>"I thought you might, eventually, sir..."

The woman looks up at you, her eyes are bloodshot from either tears or the alcohol. Before an exchange of words can begin you already recognize her surface thoughts. You sense anticipation, fear, and failing attempts at bravery. You recognize the setting, it's the loading bay. The ghostly memories of marines now dead move past you, as they prepare for the assault on the Zerg. You see your husband's SCV scale down the Hercules' ramp, next to Barney and Daisy's firebats. You still can't get your head around how someone as nice as Barney could've volunteered for a firebat...

>"John!"

You rush forward, the SCV's cockpit opens. Your husband's mustache and trucker cap greet you, he withdraws his arms from his controls and holds them out. You embrace him, careful not to crush him with your CMC suit. You notice the ghost walking past in the Corner of your eye.

You lean back, focusing on him.

>"You don't have to do this - it doesn't have to be you."

You call having this conversation before, multiple times.

>"If I don't, every last one of them boys we rescued off of that sandbox is gonna volunteer. They only didn't 'cause I said I'd do it. And besides, you've seen 'em work a fusion torch. You really want -them- at your back? I couldn't sit right leavin' you out there alone with some stranger."

You know you can't talk John out of it. He'd evacuated his whole SCV crew from the spaceport the moment he heard the carrier was going critical. You didn't know the details of how he hijacked that dropship, but the tension between him and the pilot told you it probably wasn't pretty.

Johns loyalty to his crew, even the ones he had picked up from the Dominion mining camp, wasn't going to let him back down. The memory slowly fades, replaced by your own Cirus suit staring down.

>"What... did you want to ask?"
>"I need to rename the Hydron. I have been considering renaming it 'The Daluke.' I thought I'd get your thoughts on the matter."

The woman smiles back, she opens her mouth to respond, but is immediately choked up, tears begin to well. Though she can't speak, you can sense her emotion. It's difficult to contain it from spreading to you with your free will running amock.

The woman did not think you were capable of emotion. She simply keeps a hand over her mouth and nods.

You decide to exit the room, and continue down the bridge.

Even though we just spoke to this woman. Enjoy your morale hit when words gets out that we offered this to her, then went back on our word.

>all of them are special
You're in your teens, or a middle aged woman, aren't you?

Not everyone gets a fucking prize. Soldiers die. They got paid.
>>
>>25802437
Marines are fodder no more no less. If they by some miracle they survive for a while they become a hero unit. That is when they actually begin to matter.
>>
Guys, the point of choosing a single name is to find a rawest exemplar of what you want. Daluke wasn't the strongest fighter, he wasn't even a fighter, but he did it just the same because what HE believed in. Honor, commitment and free will to choose what you do. We are no longer the dominion, we are something else that can be snuffed out at any second. Daluke is an example of the only thing that can keep this new idea going, sacrifice and personal courage.

And that is what you explain to everyone. That no matter who you are you can change everything.

And your name will be remembered.
>>
>>25802496
This guy is right.
We already JUST offered it to her. We can't go back on our word now.

Boys The Daluke is a strong name. It's a good name. He was a brave man. It would be an honor to have the ship named after him.
>>
>>25802556
And now we have a giant recruitment tool at our disposal.
>>
>>25802496
Note:

All current forces do not receive a salary. They are solely volunteers.

Going back on this will not affect Morale if a differing name honoring the fallen is still chosen.
>>
>>25802584
lolwut? we've discussed mias pay several times. did you forget to draw up salaries, adjutant?

We really should look into that maintenance.

You decide to speak with Henderson, to cement any doubts you have about the renaming. It is possible that an important Marine to squad cohesion fell, or that Gary's sacrifice was particularly troubling the crew.

You wind your way through the Hydron. Henderson is currently out of his CMC and in the old Hawaiian shirt and Khaki trousers he 'liberated' from a civilian back on Umoja. He has a cigar in one hand, and a shot glass full of Synthol in the other. Many civilians and two off-duty marines sit around the large makeship table, a dropship plate and several goliath servos recovered from the weapons research station welded together by an SCV. Henderson appears to be recalling the story of what happened during the boarding mission. You sense from the Marines that they've heard this story multiple times and the infested Terran death count seems to rise each time, but the civilians appear intent.

>"-walkin' down that dark Corridor, an' Valero says to me he ain't scared of nothin'! Now Valero, bein' the gen-yoo-ine hero he is, doesn't surprise me one bit he says that-"

You sense Henderson recalling his own memories as he tells the story. You decide to listen to the unmodified version...

>"I hate infestation, sir. Losing yourself like that... doesn't sit right with me one bit."

Valero has that macho demeanor sometimes, but you know the truth. A boy like that's just as afraid as anyone else. You don't much mind the infested crew ahead - hell, you'll be doing them a favor! - But that infestor. Ohhh no, you don't care one bit for that notion. Still, Valero's fear seems to be getting the better of him. You decide to reassure him.

>"Don't you boys worry none. Either of you looks to be gettin' infested, Ah'll put you right out of your misery a'fore you even know what's goin' on."
>"... Thank you, sir?"

Nailed it. No way he'll be scared now.

Oh Henderson. You so good at making people feel safer.
>>
>>25802496
I never said they were all special

I just get a feeling that it's a bit selfish to name the entire ship where many died to just one man
>>
>>25802612
>nailed it
based henderson
>>
>>25802275
y
>>
>>25802701
It's not really selfish. We need a name for the ship. That man not only was a bad-ass and volunteered to go on a god damn suicide mission but he has a really cool sounding name. Say it out loud. The Daluke.

We can't name it some SVV or some other shit. It's basically a Civvie ship now. Cuz it's ours. Naming it The Daluke sure as hell shouldn't piss anyone in the crew off. It'll have a positive impact on some and at worst some others won't care. We're naming our first Medic ship after Gary somehow.

Remember that if this man wouldn't have willingly got in that SCV to go weld those doors a lot more men would have died.
>>
... I think we should go with our first thought and chose The Daluke as a name. Henderson isn't the most social of creatures.
>>
>>25802783
Ehh fine lets go with it then
>>
>>25802783

>>
>Henderson tales
We really ought to find out exactly what happened with their mission sometime.

3 marines posing as mercenaries to assassinate a councilman? Maybe they were expected to die, maybe they were expected to board the cruiser and take it.
>>
>>25802784
Yeah, I've suddenly lost the desire to talk to henderson about human interaction.
>>
>>25802784
Just name the damn ship The Daluke, if we ask Henderson he'll just ask to name the ship The Henderson
>>
>>25802856
He WILL name it either kill fuck die, or "I LOVE STIMS"
>>
>>25802856
Ha...typical Henderson.
>>25802876
Actually this seems more like Henderson. At least as far as stims are concerned.
>>
>>25802856

But seriously we should name it the Daluke.

I agree with naming the ship the daluke. he was'nt the only person who we lost, but he was the only one who went out there knowing he would almost certainly not be coming back.

You continue down the corridors, gauss rifle in either hand, chewing on your unlit cigar. You hate the silence more than anything, always have, always will.

>"What about you, Daluke? Robo-lady says you got a snowball's chance in hell of walkin' away. I think she's full'a shit though, always givin' us them impossible odds. Can't account fer human ingenuity, I says!"
>"Don't know if she's right or wrong. Just know it's something I have to do. Figure you guys'll keep me alive, though, yeah?"
>"10-4 Good buddy! Ain't nothin' gonna happen to you, you can count on it!"

Poor son of a bitch is going to be so dead.

>"First objective. I'll weld it, keep 'em off me."

Valero takes up position at the left hallway, you take up position at the right. The bulk of the infested marines will be headed to your kill teams, so you just have to take out the infested crew. Not a problem.

>"Contact, three o'clock! Opening fire! Get some! Yeah, get some!"
>"Door's shut, Valero drop that mine an' lets get crackin' on door number two!"

You bring one heated muzzle to your cigar to light it, then point both rifles forward. The bayonets unlock and swing forward with an audible 'shunk'.

This part of the memory includes a lot of combat, bayonets through the guts of infested Terrans, and Daluke assuring Henderson that he just needs "A few more seconds."

Then, you reach the door you remember as 'the last one'. This one is difficult as it's the main junction reinforcements are pouring through. You pelt it with every bullet it takes to get it closed.

>"They're trying to break through, I can't - goddamnit!"
>"Sir! Contacts left! I can't disengage!"

Infested pour at you as well, you're all dead if you stop shooting for a second.

>"Man up, Daluke! Don't let some bugbrains show you who's boss!"
>"You want to come through this door, huh!? How about I weld you to it!? You like that!? YOU LIKE THAT!?"

You glance over your shoulder, the infested terrans have torn the door down and Daluke is cutting through them with his fusion cutter.

He's quickly overwhelmed, a dozen of them topple over his SCV and rip open the Cockpit. You turn to shoot some off, but it's a futile gesture. The man's exposed and being torn limb from limb.

Brave son of a bitch.

>Come on! I ain't scared of you! Choke on 'em! CHOKE ON 'EM!"
>"Valero, fall back! Regroup with the kill teams! Come in, Commnand: SCV operator down, boss! Me an' Valero are fallin' back!"

You leave the Memory, as Henderson finishes the Story.

>"Cut through, hell, maybe fifty bastards before they got 'im! God among men, that Son of a bitch. To Daluke!"

The crowd raises their glass, saying his name in unison. You're decided, then. The ship will be 'The Daluke."
>>
The issue is decided, you head out of the ship and back to the Bridge. Sensors show Mia is still out in the field, combing for signs of life.

Is it still possible to put some work into those busted SCVs you mentioned back when we were trying to escape Zerg space? You mentioned that we scavenge them Into a new one with 4 man hours of work. >Rebooting.
>Achieving Consensus.

You decide to find Casey, and have your Adjutant bring up her personal file.

Name: Casey Bynes
Sex: F
Current Rank: N/A
Current Assignment: N/A
Additional Training: N/A
Age: 7
Height: 3'8"
Weight: 66 Lbs.
Known Relatives: Gary Bynes (Brother, Deceased.)
Addt'l Notes: None.

You head for the private quarters of the Jenkins family, as that will prove the optimum location to find Casey.

As you walk down the hall you pick up psionic static from a group of marines. Memories of the battle against Zerglings. Marines torn apart, a firebat suit being ripped into by infested Terrans, Gary hunched over a dead or dying marine, and being surrounded as the squad falls back.

You block out the images as best you can, and find yourself at the quarters and knock on the door.

>"I'm comin'! You remember to get the milk, Hun, I need it to make- "

The door opens and you are greeted by Private Dana Jenkins. Scans indicate the room occupants as Casey Bynes and Carl Jenkins, her 13 year old son who both watch you in awe.

>"Hello, uh, sir. Did you... need me, for something?"
>>
Guys, Casey and Jessica. Widow and orphan.

Also, I'd go for making Jessica an in medic. Our civvie should be able to train her up.
>>
((Guys my shit's all fucked. I'm going to reset my internet. Hold on.))
>>
>>25803796
Just a personal visit
>>25803832
No problem
>>
>>25803796
"Just checking in on how you're holding up. I can't help but feel responsible for Gary's death."

yadda yadda
>>
I would like to talk to Ms. Bynes for a moment if that is not a problem.
>>
>>25803845
We aren't responsible for his death.

We know we aren't.

Gary was a good kid. He was a damn fine Medic. Tried to save everyone he could. It isn't our fault he died though...We feel bad that he's dead but that's about all the guilt we need to shoulder.
>>
>>25803795
This... isn't the worst idea for shipboard duties.

Let's focus on other things first, though. If we modify anything, it should be the valkryie, dropship, and banshee.

The valkryie especially has room to become very versatile. Lore states they are, in fact, used to rapidly insert ground forces, after all.
>>
>>25803795
Proper engineering bay funding can result in thicker SCV armor and more efficient fusion cutters.
>>
>>25803918
True. Safer SCVs would be great though...
>>
>>25803796
"I just wanted to talk to Casey about her brother and check in on her to see if she was doing alright.

May I come in?"
>>
>>25803939
Are you back? We good? <3
>>25803972
That works.
>>
>>25803942
Honestly, we shoudl just work to keep the out of the fight.
Even if we arm them, they won't be effective in combat.

It's a good diea, but thould be soemthign we do if and only if we can think of nothing more useful.

Like I said a few threads back:
Space comes first. we're fleet based now.

After that, speed and versatility. Armed scvs would only really bee needed if we get boarded *we'd be fucked anyway) and the marines are dead (DOUBLE FUCKED).

Unveiling plans for this might be good for morale down the road though.
>>
>>25803986
Morale would be good. If we ever need to repair another vessel it could be a good thing to at least have it more armored...Maybe stronger.
>>
>>25803986
Especially if we are going to go mine in someplace potentially dangerous.
>>
>>25803972
Oh yeah, basic plan once we're inside. Go and talk to Casey, kneel or sit down on the floor so we don't tower over her, gently probe her mind to see what she's thinking about, what she's afraid of right now. Tell her that her brother was a hero, and he died trying to save someone. And that we'll make sure his sacrifice wasn't in vain and that we'll keep her safe from now on.
>>
>>25804038
I completely forgot about mining. Stronger more well armored SCVs would be great. Plus some kinda rifle on them would make them seem a little safer.
>>
>>25804055
good call, man, good call.
>>
>"Just a personal visit. I'm checking to see how you and Casey are doing."
>"I'm ... Fine, Sir. We've been taking care of Casey and Her brother ever since, well... If you'd like, you can talk to her. Casey, sweetie, come over here."

The girl sits up from the floor, apparently she was coloring with Carl Jenkins, and walks over behind Dana. You can sense the child's thoughts, and it seems she thinks that you are a -literal- ghost. No one has explained to her that it's just a code-name.

You probe her slightly more, she's been well taken care of by the Jenkin's. The image of Dana serving the role of a sassy mother readily conflicts with your own memories of her as a hardened marine.

>Awaiting input...
>>
>>25804059
Mining operations would be hindered by the addition of military equipment.
>>
>>25804094
"Boo!"
>>
>>25804094
this
>>25804055
Also try to make her not completely scared.
>>25804120
Totally not this.
>>
>>25804094
I for one say we implement images of his brother into her head giving her some encouraging words and shit
>>
>>25804112
So armored and stronger would be better.
>>
>>25804126
argreed
>>
>>25804059

Slows them down. Let the marines do their job, and the svcs do theirs- the faster they mine, the faster we get them out of danger.

If we get to the point where they are fighting, they're dead anyway.
>>
>>25804120
This. Kid will laugh.
>>
>>25804159
The kid thinks we're an actual ghost. It'll scare the shit outta her.
>>
>>25804094
Get down on one knee in front of her so we don't look huge and scary, try to look friendly.

"Hi, I'm Delta Phoenix, just call me Delta. And no, I'm not an actual ghost, I haven't died yet. It's just what people like me are called.

I'm here to talk to you about your brother Gary, as you know he's dead, and he's not coming back, and I'm sorry about that. A lot of people die poorly, they die in sad ways, but Gary didn't, he died trying to save someone's life, and that's something you can be proud of when you remember him.

He's gone, and it'll hurt for a long time, but you should always remember him and the things he stood for. He was a good man, and that's very rare, I miss him too, I liked him."
>>
>>25804159
Only if we do an exaggerated "OOooooooo IMMMA GHOST OOOoooooo."
>>
>>25804197
That's...a little cold at the start.
>>
>>25804197
Just thinking this...might scare her...in a different way.

A. She'll be weirded out that we read her mind.
B. Kinda cold it feels like...let's just tell her we are sorry about what happened to her brother, and we just wanted to tell her he was really brave, and wanted to tell her he'd miss her a whole bunch. But that she had to be brave for him now, since he couldn't be here for her.

You go to one knee, attempting to make Casey more comfortable. This plan backfires as your targeting sensor over your left eye refocuses, Casey grabs on to Dana's pants.

>"Don't worry. My name is Delta. I'm not a -real- ghost. I'm just a soldier. Like your brother. I came here to tell you that what he did was very brave, and he saved a lot of people's lives."

The little girl seems mildly reassured, your combat sensor registers her grip on the woman's pants loosens by around 20%. She then looks down, apparently too shy to speak with you. You almost speak again, when an announcement comes over the intercom.

>"Commander to the Bridge. All marines to full alert. Corporal Ohann report to dropship. This is not a drill. I repeat-"

You don't hesitate. Reflexively you are running full speed towards the bridge. Curiosity strikes you, and you look over your shoulder. Dana is hugging both children. You lose sight as you round the corner.

>"Status report, Ensign."
>"Sir. We've received the following transmission. Beginning playback."

A large, burly, bearded, long-haired man with a black leather vest, and a black bandanna with jolly rogers over his head is on screen.

>"Weeeell Howdy. You can call me Brutus. Now you Dominion boys sure do like to play with fire, but I caught yer little recon pilot."

Brutus steps to a side, Mia is tied to the front of her wraith, gagged and blindfolded.

>"So I'm gonna make you a little deal. You send us 50,000 credits, an' you don't see if your pilot can fly as good on the OUTSIDE of the Vessel. You've got thirty minutes, Hoss."

You consider your options.

>"Can we trace their location, Ensign?"
>"With a sufficiently timed call we can locate the origin of the signal, sir."
>"Put me through."

Your ensign works at the console. Your adjutant beeps at you, faithfully.

I suppose we could also stealth in the hold, say we need to make multiple runs, and leave as we transfer shiny rocks over.

No, no it isn't. We cannot afford to have no back up plans. If we lose it's practically game over. We lose the crew, the ship, our wraith pilot, everything we've worked for. We end up with the clothes on our back if we're lucky.

No one wants to deal with that gamble. Us being in place for a stealth mission has better odds than that.

Phase 2: DP will get in position to attempt a solo mission, if the race is going well, DP will withdraw, if it is going badly, DP will infiltrate and begin solo mission
Phase 3:BC weapon systems come online, preparing for hostile reactions to either; we win race & the criminal scum are criminal scum, or we lose the race, and stealth mission incites hostile reactions and we can defend the BC while extracting Mia and her wraith with Daredevil & the Vulture

You have no choice but to hedge your bets. With your situation like it is, you have no other choice.

>"Order repair teams to main weapons. I want it online as soon as possible. Contact our friend and tell him I accept his terms."
>"Sir."

You head down to the bay, and begin issuing orders. The Valkyrie loads up the modified vulture and Corporal Henderson, and you board it as well.

About halfway to the location, you notice Henderson slump suddenly from one side of his seat to the other. You instantly kick yourself for not remember he was drinking heavily about 5 minutes ago.

>"Henderson... are you drunk?"
>"Naaaaaw I just had a ttttiiiinnny bit earlier. Ah'm drive to good, boss, don't you worry yerself one - little - bit!"

Great.

Your ship docks with the station. It's well sized and no doubt loaded with marines and mercenaries of all sorts. Henderson stumbles out first, then raises his hands.

>"Your champion has arrived! Take me and my mighty chariot to our battlegrounds!"

Two pirate marines lead Henderson away. One looks to you.
>"Your luxury box is ready. Follow me."

As you approach the stadium you can hear the corwd cheering and yelling, and the roar of engines. You follow the man up the stairs, and reach a security checkpoint.

>"No weapons past this point. Please register everything with the clerk."

You should've expected this.

>Release weapons to lockup. You will proceed with only stealth and close-combat abilities.

Guys, this could be good.

>Achieving consensus.

You do not know security, cannot risk being found out yet. You leave your rifle and pistol with the lockup clerk, and continue on your way. The man leads you to a rather well-furnished luxury box. A large glass window looks over the vulture track, and two comfortable arm chairs are set up. A chandelier of pure minerals hangs between them. The door shuts behind you and locks. Well now, hasn't the butcher thought of everything...

The big screen across the stadium begins naming the contestants, the race will start soon.

>"First up is Mad-Rad-Brad! Kill count of 12 racers, he's killer! He's a thriller!"

Without your C-20-A scope you cannot search for sensors, and the Daluke's sensors are currently not powerful enough to help you.

>Hack lock, begin searching Luxury boxes for The Butcher.
>Use vents, begin searching Luxury boxes for The Butcher.
>Smash window, shimmy below Luxury boxes looking for The Butcher.

So that's a class 10? Right. I vote we simply obliterate everyone living who isn't one of us with our psionic abilities.

No, wait. I vote we use our class 10 abilities to obliterate HENDERSON and MIA, because the way things are going we'll then obliterate everyone else.
>>
>Achieving consensus.

You decide to use the vents, they will provide the quickest access and the most stealth. After checking for cameras and hacking the door sealed, you open the vent and are about to enter when you notice an infrared sensor. You'll need to be more careful. Your cybernetic index finger folds back and a wire pokes out. You connect it to the sensors and disable them, before heading down the vent.

>"Oh, and things aren't looking good for our newest contestant, he's going the WRONG WAY down the track folks! Talk about embarrassing!"

No pressure, but you may be Mia's only hope at this point. You pass over multiple vents, looking down into luxury boxes from the ceiling, disabling the sensors as you go. You pass over various spectators, some watching the game, others involved apparently using these boxes as business, and one couple seems to be using it for... intimate relations against the window.

>"Oh, and another fireball! What do you think of that spider mine, Tim?"
>"Completely backfired on him, Tom! I don't think medics can reconnect what's left of THAT leg!"

You finally reach a much larger luxury box. You hear a familiar voice down below. The Butcher.

>"Some day, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, consider this justice a gift on your daughter's wedding day. "

>Continue to listen, wait for an opportunity.
>Drop down through vent for a better view. You see no guards. The voices sound as if they're coming from the window.

>Consensus decision will start next thread.

>we thought we had enough
We were told point blank we did not have a fraction of the crew needed to bring ANY of the manned guns online. There was no reaosn to think we had enough.
We had the bare minimum needed to do anything, which assumed no problems would occur. Poor planning. We knew, flat out, we had not enough men.

We also knew of several other places where we could perform jobs, make money, and gather shit we needed.

We could have stayed put, done the other contracts, and been able to just fucking buy mia back WITH CASH TO SPARE. These missions would have meant more time to recruit as well.

We could have returned to the first platofrm and turned it into scarp with our new scv force.

We could have gone to the other abandoned platform and salvage equipment from it.

We could have gone back to the jungle world and NOT brought everyone, thus not angering the protoss, and had the materials to fix the bridge and guns and simply not sent mia out at all.

We had an exceptional number of options, literally planets worth of them.
