Um.. Guys, I am back... ;_;

Welcome back to Commissar quest!

You are Otto Schulte a twelve year old girl on her way to destiny, you've now spent nearly a day on a planet - the longest you've ever lingered on one in your life!

Last week we freaked out over planet mold, meet a friend called Angelina, found a greenhouse and tasted our first real food!

"The emperor show mercy, for my spork shall not" - Commissar Cadet Schulte on finding out about "cake".

Roll rules:

Lowest of first three rolls for things the character is skilled at doing.
Median of first three rolls for things the character is "capable" at.
Highest of first three rolls for things the character is utterly shit at.

You have to "beat" your stats (which for now are hidden by popular demand, this may change) so low rolls are good.

Cont post explained: If there is a post marked at the end with "cont" its becouse your QM is lazy, and can't type fast - or becouse he wants to give you the option to jump into the current events, or offer opinions, if none are offered he'll continue as normal

Disclamer in regards to Re:Spelling: I suck at spelling big time, if anyone actually cares its due to the fact I suffer from Dysgraphia, its the primary reason I got into RP in the first place, trying to practice my spelling. Its not about "don't complain about it!" but rather: "If you've got the time and want to proof read it great! But lets not clog the thread with it, send it to my E-mail! (Yes I do use a spellchecker)

I got a twitter https://twitter.com/CommissarQuest

Another spoonful of the weird paste enters your mouth before you even register it, the wholesome delight of what-ever this brown-white stuff was filling you again, simply the smell of it was enough to nearly floor you, that odd warm smell that seemed to penetrate you as you leaned over your plate, the yellow pieces reminded you a bit of the orange paste but it was more refined, and combined with the other tastes seemed to enchant each delightful chew with a new wave of sensations. So preoccupied where you in fact that when Angelina nudged your side you did not even register it until she poked you rather hard with her spork.

"Heey, Schulte - I am trying to talk to you here, why are you spacing out like that?"

"gurlg" you manage to get out before swallowing, "What in the emperors name is this!?" you gesture at the steaming plate before you, wonder across your face "Um.. its Grox I think..?" she answers, poking her own stew for empathize "I-I've never had anything like this, this is not paste at all is it!?" you wave your spork towards her at this, underlining your words with frantic motions. "Paste..? No, its food - just food" you retorts, urging you to calm down with downwards motions of her hands "Its what all people on planets eat"

"So this is why people bear living on planets" you think to yourself, consuming yet another mouthful of the delightful "stew" as Angelina informed you it was called, ignoring the world around you as you shovel spork after spork into your chasm. It was then, among mouthfuls of food you noticed a familiar group of people entering the local - it was hard to miss him, indeed he was a head taller then most people your age - the giant oaf Nikkobar, he had noticed you too, glaring in your direction as he and his friends made their way to the queue.. this could spell trouble, Nikkobar was not bellow starting a fight in the dinning hall, but you've not finished all this food yet..

You turn to Angelina after stuffing your face with another glorious spoonful of the food, before after chewing for a good while to make sure you've manage to get all flavor out of the "food" tell her "See the big oaf over there? That is Nikkobar" "Who?" she responds, perking up, following your gaze. "The big oaf over there, looks like a servitor gone wrong" "you respond, jerking with your chin in his general direction, trying to be discreet about it, she giggles slightly "He's a bit overgrown yeah, what about it?" "He's a big oaf, watch out for him, I've had to break his nose twice already..." you turn away from Angelina for a moment to shovel another spork of food into your mouth, also taking the time to correct your seating slightly - your dress is not very comfortable to sit in at all.. you're begin to wish more and more you where in something more comfortable.

"How did you manage to do that?" she responds, her eyebrows shooting in the air, "He's huge!" she continues, sounding a bit impressed. "He's slow, and a oaf" you reply "I heard he once tripped down the stairs fumbling over his own feet.." she turns to look at him again, clearly trying to make sense of your word as he sits down a table away from your, his back to you now but you get the feeling he knows you are there...

"Anyway, stay away from his he's a total jerk"

You burp, lowering your spork for the first time since you first started eating, over half of the food is gone but you feel your stomach slowly starting to fill up, deciding to calm down before you puke, despite the glorious feeling of the food on your taste buds, instead reveling in the after taste for a moment as you turn to talk to Angelina - in particular about the Schola, rubbing a hand over your mouth to remove any stray "food" that's made it onto your face, you simply ask her: "So, what do you know about the Schola Angelina? - I got some information from the ship before I landed" "Really?" she responds "We got nothing like that! I know only that its run by minitorum and that its suppose to train us into "serving" the emperor, what-ever that means" nodding in confirmation you fill her in slightly "From what I read on the slate, we are suppose to become officers in his armies... I don't know if going to war is nice, but perhaps its like in the holos, you know crushing the xenos and all that, I once saw one with some guy in red that drove across a world and killed those short.. green thingis"

As you mention the "green thingies" Angelina freezes up slightly before she continues: "Eh, war.. well I guess that make sense, but what about the schola itself? I did not even know it was here." "Apparently its been here for a few hundred years already, there was some about it in the info, most of it was just stories of the great fighters that came from here, and that it was built remotely far away from the hive cities - also it seems there is some huge Adeptus Mechanicus thing going on as well, further up the valley"

"Eh.. adeptus mechanicus.. those cog-people, right?" she cocks her head at you. "Yeah, don't call them that - they get really angry if you do, at least the once I talked to!" you tell her back, before diving into the food. "You've meet them!?" - a few seconds of chewing later you respond: "Of course? On the ships."'

"Woah.." - "What where they like?" Angeline perks up, looking you over. "Eh.. like, screechy and all metal like, I guess? - more importantly, tell me where does this food come from?" Angelina blinks at you before answering ".. Well, from grox and plants I guess?" you make a metal note of finding out what a "grox" is - probably some type of special plant-thing, perhaps its like a tree, those where like plants but not called plants for some reason. A few moments pass as you scrape up the last of your food and lean back in your chair. "So, about the whole lady part - you never answered me..?" you ask her, giving her a look from your leaned back position. "Told you, its no big deal.. I can't be a lady when I go to the schola, I am a girl still..." "Right..." you answer, still slightly confused but deciding against pushing the question - perhaps it was just some planet thing.. probably something in the library about it, perhaps you could read up on it, supervise her with your knowledge! Yeah! That'd be good, you smile inwardly before striking up a new conversation waiting for your .. well - friend? Not quite, but close enough to finish her food.

"So, Angelina - I think I read something about there being several things you become here, like there was this thing called c-com.. comi, something - and some storm thing.." fiddling slightly with your spork before she responds: "Oh? I guess.. that makes sense, its like a normal school?" "Think we'll end up in the same thing, do you get to choice?" you ask. "I've got no idea Schulte, none at all - perhaps we'll find out after dinner? I am done either way, want to get going to the gathering hall?" - at this she pushes the plate of half-finished food away from her, much to your surprise.. why'd she waste something so good? Or waste in general.. nothing was ever wasted on ships!

>What do we do now?

>Push her about food.

You give her food a longing glance.. but eating from other peoples plates is wrong, uncle Eric told you so - even if its wasting, still Angelina is the first decent planet-born you've meet, perhaps it would be best if you did not push the issue today - you can teach her the importance of saving your food another day, who knows - this whole no lady thing might be tied in, you've got no clue - might be the plants? What if she ate some plants before you came in here, she did mention she liked plants.. and the forest was full of them. That makes sense - you should ask her about this when you get the chance! Regardless, you gather up your plate and give Nikkobars table a look before falling in behind your friend.. he's still there, with his friends - but you do notice several of them are following you with their eyes, but none makes any motion to get up, so hopefully its not bound to become to much of an issue this time around.

The two of you make your way through the crowds and tables, trying to avoid knocking into people - Angelina in particular whom's plate is not cleaned off like yours, the servitor grabs your plates rather forcefully as you are pushed by the crowd itself towards the exit past the large lumbering several-limbed machine, whom's only remaining human feature was the tiny human head on its top, it was cute almost in a way.. but still, you don't get the chance to linger as the crowd moves the two of you forward headless to your will - soon you are packed back into one of the tiny corridors pushed around by other peoples bodies - you nearly lose a shoe in the mayhem before you get pushed out into the open and the pressure lets open, you look around, disorientated for a moment before you spot Angelina waving at you and head towards her.

You push your way through the crowd, using your elbows, or your small statues to squeeze where appropriate, still the people are slowly ebbing out as it disperses into lines heading towards the various buildings making up the premise finding yourself next to Angelina soon enough she points towards one of the buildings, while stating "I think its right over there, that is where that shouty man pointed anyway" you nod in agreement, looking over the towering building - its easily the largest one, constructed in some dark material with towering spires and statues decorating its sides, ever stretching upwards - the whole building is probably at least twenty stories high..

"I hope we don't get lost" you catch yourself thinking as you and Angelina begins to ascend the staircase leading up to the door leading inside the massive structure - from what you've seen possible the largest on the entire premise, apart possible from the large chapel, or well at least you think it is one.. you've seen pics of those several times before at least! Hard stone underfoot you push onwards despite your legs telling you of their plight and strain with every footstep, it was not a very long staircase - forty, something steps it was more the overly royal way it was formed, each step seemed to be engraved with letters - you could not read them, but you recognized a few - there was the rune from the ignition on uncles plasma cutter over there - and some of the runes that you saw on the emergency lights - each step different, it felt odd walking on them but you had to get to the gathering hall.

The doors where opened by Angelina pushing into them, the two wood-textured slabs parting soundlessly to reveal the inside of a long, dark corridor sparsely lighted from the roof, behind you more people where talking up the stairs, and you could see a few at the end of the corridor..

The corridor before you where austere clad, nothing was on display on the smooth blackened walls - no engravings, nor pipes or otherwise, odd to you - but you figured it was a planet thing... There where no doors to be seen, but several gaping holes on the sides lead of into the murky darkness of stairwells. Walking forward with Angelina you where about to question your final destination when you notice the first readable words on the walls on this planet - something which pleases you as you had begun to worry about planets not having the same writing as ships did, especially after all the Eye of terror your aunt put you through to get those T's right.. "Gathering hall" was spelled out for you on the wall, with an arrow pointing straight ahead - and sure enough, further up you did saw a pair of closed doors, no doubt leading to where you destiny lay.

It was poetic in a way, you'd reflect later in your life as you walked down the corridor towards the doors - your first journey, several openings leading of to different directions, chances to escape but something pushed you on to those two doors, ignorance, pride - what-ever the reason you where moving towards them single mindedly that day, in truth you did not think of much, practical things, putting one foot before the other - the distance to the door, the feeling of warmth in your belly after your meal, most higher thinking had been somewhat dulled by the days experiences and exhaustion, you wanted this over already - and when you and Angelina opened the door, you realized for a flashing moment that nothing was over, it had just begun..

The smell hit you first, the comforting smell of church, of holy blessings...

The hall before you where vast, and vast was an understatement - sure you'd seen larger places on the ship - the cargo bays came to mind, but they where empty space - this, clearly was not. The entire hall was gilded, fine decorations across every part of the massive walls - bronze, gold, brass forming scenes of heroic deeds and imperial victories - the entire roof depicted a scene of the emperor himself, sitting on the golden throne surrounded by his loyal subjects, the foul xenos and heretics crushed bellow them, large chandlers hung from the roof, spreading a warm glow across the entire massive hall, bellow you, just a meter or so of stairs stood row upon row of massive benches, clad with red-brown leather, you'd seen similar before.. but never on this scale - where ever you looked stood another grand installment, statues framed the walls - overhead you saw several skullprobes wandering about with their banners and incense burners - the source no doubt of the wonderful smell that filled your nose.

Angelina moved downwards - she seemed less overcome by the scale of beauty of the things displayed, you willed yourself to fall in line behind her, stunned as you looked out over the gathering hall - noticing several other children entering with similar expression from side doors - or already seated on one of the many benches... Turning you Angelina you manage to out a :"T-this place is beautiful!" to which she turns to you with a smile before pointing towards a pair of open seats somewhere in the middle of the hall "I guess, lets sit down though - I want to have a good seat" to which you can only ask: "A good seat for what?" "See that big thing up front? Its a scene, there will be talking from there"

"That is a scene" you think to yourself while sitting down next to Angelina, you'd seen scenes before.. but...

"That is a scene" you think to yourself while sitting down next to Angelina, you'd seen scenes before.. but... that thing was -massive- the entire thing covered half the wall as it was - landing it several hundred meters - you had to move your head just to take it all in, and not only that, its backside was covered in red cloth - making it stick out already as.. "odd" it was probably a planet thing, but you'd had no thing like that when you sang onboard The Rangers Talent, then again - how many singers could not fit upon that massive stage... Settling down a bit in your cushion seat you take the time to correct your hair a bit, as well as look over the cut in your dress, it was not to long, but had begun to spread slightly as the threads where getting undone - you'd had to get that repaired, hopefully there was needles around.. you still remember a bit of sewing from what your aunt taught you.

Your musings are however interrupted by the sound of.. song. It was faint at first but slowly spreading through the hallway - you remembered the tune, "Emperor deliver us" it was a classic hymn, even you knew the lyrics to it. It got louder and louder as the crowd slowly beings to channel into the building - you do notice Nikkobar and his goofs among them - you could almost feel the glare they where giving you, they probably saw you in that dress... you where the only one in such bright colors really. Of interesting note, you also note Lak and his brother entering - they faded into the crowd rather quickly but you saw them by chance while looking over the door behind you.

The music got louder still as the giant red piece of cloth began to slowly accent upwards.

You turn your attention towards Angelina, deciding to observe her quickly to try and gather what is suppose to be happening... she's at this time sitting observing the slowly raising curtains, a slight smile on her face as she wobbles her head together with the music. You begin doing the same, it was after all a well known song. The curtains slowly ascend upwards, revealing more and more of the stage for your eyes - not that there appears to be much behind it at all. You notice a wall behind it - its not like the onces around you however - as it appears to be made out of some manner of brown "wood-like" material.

Slowly however, the music dies off, and you finish yourself, Angelina looks like she's about to say something when the room is shaken by the sound of a voice calling out from somewhere above in a commanding tone: I welcome you first years, your first day is drawing to a close, but we still have much that needs to be done, but before that - I introduce to you, Lord-Commissar Arkilam the unwavering - whom will lead your entrance ceremony...

A lone figure begins to walk out from the scene - you had not noticed him on the massive structure if not for the several beams of light shooting down from the skullprobes towards him, shrouding him in a aura of light, it was odd watching him approach really - such a tiny figure of the massive stage, somewhere in the middle he'd stop, and remove his cap, revealing short black hair, from your vantage point you where to far away to properly make out his face - but you think you spot a large scar running across it, he placed the cap behind his back, before opening his mouth - you did not expect to hear him as you saw no vox-caster so when his voice clinged out across the hall you where taken by some surprise.

"Welcome children, I am Commissar Arkilam." he's slowly begin to pace alongside the scene, taking in faces by the looks of things "I've been asked to inform you by the headmaster of a few things - like where you are headed, and how you will be parted into classes, you are three hundred and ninety three pupils here, out of nearly six thousand on this schola, for the record - you where four hundred and eighty seven when you landed on besvir."

"Already children, you've lost those week among you. Be proud - today you've become members of the Schola proper - students you are from this day forward, cadets. - but still, you have a long way to go, and you need to be parted sorted into classes and made efficient - already as we speak you are, the people in the back are being handed out numbers by the probes - this is the number of your room, inside you will find your new uniform, and your class number."

You call out to Angelina with a "So, what number did you get?" there is some shuffling as she gets pushed around by the crowds before you manage to break of a bit and she can answer in peace "Three hundred and seventeen, you?" "Two hundred seventy eight." you answer with a frown "Guess we are not in the same room then, that is to bad - but we should meet up after I get to my room, and can change into something more suitable..." "Well I guess we could" she replies "Meet you here tomorrow during lunch? .. If we get lunch that is" you give her a nod "Yeah, lets - think they'll have more of that st..ste..steweu"

"Stew"

"Yeah, that is it - think they'll have more?" she laughs a bit and answers "Yeah, I am sure they'll have more tomorrow, but we should really get going, its starting to get cold outside - and I am dead tired" you agree, and the two of you split paths - following a map bolted onto of a wall you soon find yourself on the right path towards your dorm room, its not a long path per say - but a different building from the one you entered - right of the dinning hall, its not as grand as the gathering hall and has no stairs to walk up - the inside as well is very much more "homey" - you notice painted walls and plenty of lights, even a few pipes on the walls - you even pass over a few large rooms with windows filled up with chairs and sofas - it was all really fancy compared to your ship, and the narrow corridors almost made it feel like being back on a ship - almost, there where the more subtle things missing, like the rumbling of the floor and the occasional wobble in gravity as one walked.

You walk soon leads you to the destination however, room two hundred seventy eight.

>And with that lads, Commissar quest VIII - the twilight zone has come to an end.

Thanks for plugging through today even with less participation than usual, OP.
>>
>>25874947
>As usual thank you for joining me for Commisar quest, even if it was in an off-hour and slightly shorter then usual.
>I normally don't run sundays, but we got it off regardless!

>Like usual I'll be around for awhile as I unwind for bed to answer any questions you have about the quest, or life in general.

>Special callout to our drawfriend for his amazing doodles, I appreciate it greatly <3

>Also, I guess it was a bit more rail-roady then usual tonight, with less choices all around - sorry about that, next week should bring plenty as we enter "FIRST DAY MODU"

Isn't 13 good...?
>>
>>25874996

Might I be so bold as to suggest that when you post on the twitters that the thread it up, you also provide the link to the thread?
>>
>>25874947
Thanks, OP!
>>
>>25875015
Um, sorry I am a bit dense I don't get it.

>>25875031
Actually never occured to me that people might want that - I'll start doing itand I'll totally link to horrible inappropriate things intead of the thread sometimes

>>25875050
D-don't make me tear up anon.
>>
>>25874996
Doodlefriend here, I mostly lurked today in this thread because I just didn't have the energy to participate. I think it's better if there's some days between episodes, I know it at least makes me more excited about it since I've had to wait for it.

See: >>25874636
I'd have thought we'd have found him with that roll.
>>
>>25874947
I guess we'll have to rely on Otto's amazing Angelina sensor to find her again then, given how crowded things get during food-time.
>>
>>25875166
We know her room number, we can totally see her on our free time. I wonder what kind of a person our roommate will be?

(no nulls please)
>>
>>25875087
Usually is yeah - I wanted to get this part overwith, and had some spare time however, I generally work better when I've got about a week of prep time for these things anyway, since I do a lot of writing aside from Commissar Quest, its probably a one-time only thing. By the way, the art is rather cool actually - as in the style, you've got like a deviant art account or something?

>>25875104
Oh, well - he was not around, if he was outside with you he'd been found him. He never exited the building, if that makes sense? In general for a roll action you also need three "votes" for the roll system to get into function - I will admit to ocationally skipping it if its not important at the time - say an average roll and you got a 10 and a 20, you'll get it regardless. Figured I'd inform you he was not around through some text however, might not have been the best way of doing so.

>>25875166
I personally imagine if she survives she'll have you dog-tagged before long.
>>
>>25874947
Another fun session as always, WHN. I especially liked the description of the auditorium. Very rich.
>>25875166
>Angelina sensor
Its our Commissar Vision. We can instantly pick out tactically viable people and objects in any situation. Like Batman.
>>
>>25875223
Also like batman we'll rule through fear, perhaps renaming the quest would be appropriate..

T-thanks anon, I tried hard on that one

Nah, I'm still learning things and rather just make silly doodles on /tg/ where no-one sees them. As for my style, it's mostly inspired by things like that - you know, kinda fucked up things.
>>
>>25875336
Perhaps why I enjoy it, always had a thing for those more odd drawings as it where, and you are doing well from what I've seen so far!

Lovely quest as always OP, love the detailed descriptions of how Schulte reacts to everything. Although some people might find the pace too slow (I don't mind the slow pace, it's relaxing), hence the low participation rate.
>>
Bloody spiffing quest, lad. Was unfortunately unable to participate for all of it, though.
