The True Tale of Faefnir will be told this night...
His time in Florin carries on.

Our story as it has been told thus far!

Members of Faefnir's family!

And Faefnir's current parameters!

A recap of what happened last time...

Faefnir had another eerie dream before waking..
Armbrust gave Faefnir a debriefing of the guard structure of Florin. The Guards report to members of the Crimson Order, yet not the other way around. There may be a way to use this to his advantage.
Kama, recently named "Claire" put our dear Faefnir at unease with her lack of ability to restrain her demented smile. Taking the demon by the arm, he whisked her away for business about the town, beginning with Morgan at the church...

The Lord's wife passed due to a most unfortunate accident beyond the control of all parties involved... You didn't have anything to do with it, did you?

Your dear pet-project Edward turned out to be dumber than a box of nails, so you assigned Kama to train him. Beasts need training after all, wouldn't you agree... Faefnir?

And visiting the person that you had been so intent to, the dear great and Noble Morgan.. She had asked you to dispose of a body and bring her a new one... and you failed her little test by refusing her command..

I don't care if she told you to self-destruct Faefnir, you had ought to have done it.

Alas, after picking up a job at The Warm Morning Bakery, and taking Schwere for some gambling, you have arrived back at the Lady's Rest.

The Tale of our naughty little demon continues...
Will you disappoint me Faefnir?
>>
As you and Claire walk through the market street, it occurs to you that you still have a great deal of money from the.. "display" last night.. And money not earned is money that can thrown away after all..
It strikes you that you still need to teach Schwere how to gamble properly.. You had thought of it before, yet the immediate circumstances kept you from making good on that.

Tonight will be the night that she starts winning.. Err, first...
"Claire, would you have an idea of where Schwere is?"

The Blonde woman puts a hand to her cheek, thinking,"If I remember right.. She should be at the Lady's Rest.. She had tried to get a job in the Lord's study, but something happened yesterday and he won't see anyone.. Must have to do with the tragedy of his wife.." She actually looks thoughtful for a moment..

And you suddenly panic, running on ahead to the Tavern.
"Ja-jacob?! Why are you running?!" She calls out to you as she begins to run in turn.

"Schwere's at the tavern! She's gambling! She's losing money!"

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Schwere was exactly where Claire said she was, and she had been doing exactly what you had thought. You arrived just in time to stop her from betting clothes to keep the game going, she apologized profusely to the men and you left Claire at the tavern as you made her leave for the gypsy troupe for their gambling.

After changing form to Rickton Asher and stowing the armor somewhere, you weasel your way into the Gypsy's games, where they cheat at every turn, lie to your face, and have their eye on your money.

Schwere begins losing right away, and the gypsies begin to mock her... Actually playing against the mage, you find out that she while she's not easy to bluff, her expressions betray her guilt whenever she lies or gets a good hand...
>>
The gypsies seem to speak more freely with you this evening, even offering you food that you know better to turn down... with the money you've brought tonight, they likely plan to poison you and steal it.

Not that you'd be vulnerable..

Schwere however, is too polite to turn down a few bites to eat... and they begin to give her strange looks as you play into the night.

You at least find out more about the gypsies... The men that have taken to playing cards with you number three, Fonso, the oldest of the young men that speak with you, and Boiko along with his little brother, Bo.

You still don't know any of the women, and they still show some tension around you..
Your words relax them, and you actually begin to feel some kinship between yourself and them.

They let few people walk among their family... Their family being the most important thing to them, as it is for you, likewise..
Outcasts, scorned by everyone accept each other.. Hell, if they weren't just bags of meat and flesh, you might actually get along with this people...

Then again, you don't have to follow the order to take live specimens anymore..

You smile at that, and the bluff that follows wins you a considable sum.. THey didn't even notice that there ware only supposed to be 4 aces... Cheating has its quirks, after all.

In time, you return to the Lady's Rest to meet Morgan there...

You are pleased to find that she's alone, though with the rest of your family minding their own business in an almost empty drinking floor...
>>
>How will you greet the Noah? No one else is in The Lady's Rest, save for her and your family...
>>
>>25917440
"Ah, my dear Lady Morgan. I'm so glad you could join us tonight. Was there something you needed from us?"
>>
Treat her with respect; our love and loyalty is not easily lost.
>>
https://twitter.com/Millennium_Duke

Oh yes, and this is my Twitter, apologies for not making it known in the first post!
>>
>>25917440
I think first we have a chat with her, just the two of us, and once we've discussed the exact arrangement between our Family and the Noah Family we call the rest of our Family over and inform them of what happened.

Put on our best smile and walk over to Morgan before sitting next to her.

"My darling Morgan, it's lovely to see you, I'm glad you could join me and my Family.

I suppose this means that you have words for me, as you were polite enough to let me say my piece earlier I shall grant you the same courtesy."
>>
>>25917599
maybe act like the whole explosion thing was totally a test the entire time, and she was sure we would pass it. let's not have any bad blood between her and the rest of the family.
>>
If need be, tell her that killing the governor would have been a mistake; there were better ways to deal with him that would not as flashy as the course she.... suggested.
>>
We haven't killed anything yet?
How different is this from the manga?
>>
>>25917768
well, we haven't killed anything in this thread.

and this is very different from the manga, in that it takes place in the 14th or 15th century.
>>
>>25917768
we killed tons of things what are you on about? It says in the intro that we ate a guy to death
>>
>>25917768
Well it's set in the 15th century, and we haven't killed anyone in this thread because it just started and we're laying low while preparing for things.

Going out and randomly slaughtering folks would get us, our Family, and maybe Morgan killed.

The Noah and the Akuma are the underdogs right now, the Exorcists and the Crimson Cross are winning.
>>
>>25917844
>>25917814
I guess I kind of understand?
It's just my experience of them has been limited to kill everything all the time.

What powers do we have?
>>
>>25917941

>>
You observe the lack of patrons within the inn this night.. Even the proprietor is gone from the bar. Schwere, standing at your side betrays a concerned look. You had debriefed her as to what had happened earlier on your way to the gypsies..
"Faefnir, are... Are we in trouble?" She whispers to you under the gaze of the Noah.. You note now, that Morgan has even transformed, displaying the dark gray skin and circlet of crosses.
"Nay, nay, Schwere.. Do not worry.." You return to her. "My darling Morgan, it's lovely to see you, I'm glad you could join me and my Family.

I suppose this means that you have words for me?" You curl your lips into an all but knowing smiling, continuing," As you were polite enough to let me say my piece earlier I shall grant you the same courtesy."

Morgan folds her hands over each other upon the table," If you would sit with me?" She smiles, not entirely fake, though it seems like she's got something on her mind.

You nod, retaining courtesy for the Noah," It would be my pleasure, though if I may ask, why has my family been assembled?"

She frowns at you, her eyes unmoving now," Please sit Faefnir, we'll talk about this.."

You pull out the chair and sit before her. The eyes of your family upon the both of you.

She begins," We are the only ones in this building right now, Josephine has incapacitated everyone involved as per my order and others are being turned away by Lisa... We are alone, just demons here.."
You nod slowly, gesturing for her to go on," Yes, yes.. And?"
>>
>>25917941
If you read the pastebin about Faefnir posted in the first post you'll see.

http://pastebin.com/CuLptHEL

Mainly we focus on fire, smoke, luck, teeth, agility, and baking bread.

Our Family's powers are in the other one http://pastebin.com/1XTzrHiR .

Akuma can control themselves if they choose to, and we are especially good at that.

Also, we're different from most Akuma, we can resist the orders of a Noah, the Earl can not see through our eyes like he can most. And we're somehow connected to a weird entity that is neither God nor Noah that has to do with our Devil's Luck.

In short, read the archives, you ought to enjoy them.
>>
She takes a deep breath with her eyes closed, and opens them once more, the ambers glistening,"I have performed tests upon your family.. Not unlike the test I performed for you, yet to.. lesser extents. Claire would not lay a hand upon the children, Armbrust would not kill the Town guard as per your instruction. Madeleine would not give into a command to assassinate you.. Mind you, all of these were tests to see if the fault lied with you alone, or if it had spread to the others... Indeed, it has..
I had noticed that there was something wrong before, they would not obey my command until you had verified it... And from my time, having tea with Alice and Adam, as I had said, he had changed the programming around so that his demons would survive longer... Yet.." She pauses, and this time you do not gesture.

>Something to put in?

>[] No, let her carry on.
>[] Yes...
>>
>>25918038
let her carry on. it would be rude to interrupt her train of thought
>>
>>25918038
Let her keep talking, I want to see where she's going with this.

Though so long as the Akuma are 99.999 percent loyal I really don't see why she should be worried about anything.
>>
>>25918038
"I would hardly call these faults, but I am biased in my opinion.

But please, do go on. Adam did not intend for the changes you see in me and my family, correct?"
>>
>>25918038
let her carry on.
>>
>>25918038
[x] No, let her carry on.

I'm really hoping that the inability to issue absolute orders doesn't lead the good doctor to deem our entire family too dangerous to live. We still have the same goals and want to reach them, after all!
>>
>>25918103
She is worried because the are loosing the war. If the akuma start ignoring orders and and maybe even turning on the duke, that could be the thing that makes it impossible for them to win.
>>
>>25918164
well its not like akuma were going to side with the church is it?... Is it?
>>
>>25918164
Well we've pretty solidly reassured her that we hate the Crimsons and the Exorcists as much as she does, they killed Ivan after all. We share the same goals, we just don't want to be tools.
>>
>>25918196

More like Akuma siding with Akuma. Three way war.
>>
>>25918164
We would never turn on the duke! We both want to kill exorcists and find Noah. we're more like really close allies that will usually follow his orders, although we may ask questions..
>>
>>25918038
"What would you rather have? Me an mine? or humans? If we play this right we can make Akuma the most populaces on earth, bread humans as cattle."
>>
>>25918226
dont we need the good doctor to make more akuma?
>>
>>25918234
Never said we would turn on them. Just trying to see things from her perspective.
>>
>>25918265
That we do. Both of us are in a position to fuck each other over. He can cease to make us more Akuma to add to our family, we can cease to be his most valuable agent or fuck with his plans in other methods.

We're not in a position to turn on the Good Doctor, but given where the Good Doctor is in the war he can't exactly turn on us either without losing one of his best chances at turning it around.
>>
>>25918306
Plus hey, we're like 100 percent behind the guy. He's such a great man! Why kill such a loyal ally?
>>
Wait, a programming change? I wonder why the Doctor would ever change the Akuma programming. Unless is somehow failed him in the war against exorcist.

Maybe the Doctor actually wanted new Akumas to not be 100% loyal to Noah for some reason.
>>
You break her moment of silence with your own words, "I would hardly call these faults, but I am biased in my opinion.

But please, do go on. Adam did not intend for the changes you see in me and my family, correct?"
She narrows her eyes at you," Correct."
The family's staring at her quietly, likely they're more than a little upset as to the orders that she tried to feed into them..
"As it stands now, we're still only four Noah strong, with Adam, Alice as Road, myself as Maitora, and Maashima the Pity.." She places a knuckle against one of her temples and rubs gently at this irritation.
"Our Demons also number only a few hundred in all of Europe as it stands, and for every one destroy, we only manage to replace them. Honestly, if Adam hadn't set onto spread the plague of ten years ago, we likely wouldn't even be having this discussion now, and that was a risky move on his part.. One that's also bitten us today as the Crimson and Black orders have seen fit to quarantine and purge those that are like to become demons... it works out for us, though not entirely as we lose precious possible bodies... Look." She rises from her seat," As it stands, we can't have any inconsistencies. Especially while I do my work to turn this around." She's gotten serious, there's frustration in her voice now.
"So long as you do not stand against the Noah, or destroy other Akuma, we won't have an issue. . . I'm sorry for the order I had issued to test you... So Faefnir, what will it be?" She slowly relaxes back into her seat."

"Are you still with us? Or will you be standing against us?"

The Family stares on, awaiting your response.

>[] I'm with you, as I always have been Morgan.
>[] We're free, and we will do what we will.

>Unless is somehow failed him in the war against exorcist.
Pretty much this. Akuma were getting their shit wrecked all over the place. Mostly by the crimsons I think
>>
>>25918486
>[x] I'm with you, as I always have been Morgan.

We didn't lose Ivan to save her just to betray her 3 threads later.

It's not like we could ally with anyone else anyway.

From her description of the crimson and black orders action, I have the feeling we'll see some third exorcist soon.
>>
>>25918486
Does she even have to ask? We're with ya baby, for the slaughter!
>>
>>25918486
we are still with her. Also, let us never mention that other Akuma we... "Talked to"
>>
>>25918486
>I'm with you, as I always have been Morgan.
But if some other Akuma start on us like that centaur we are still going to wreck them.

Also >Black order. I dont like where this is going
>>
>>25918486
>[] (Other)

While here, could we ask her a question? How did the Doctor change the Akuma programming and more importantly, why did he do that?
>>
>>25918486
[X] I'm with you, as I always have been Morgan.

"Of course I am with you Morgan, I once swore that I was your monster and that has not changed. I respect you, I wish for the same things you do, I fight for the same cause, I have sworn to destroy our mutual enemies, and I owe the Noah family a debt of gratitude for my existence and quite enjoy their company. I simply wish to aid you and be aided in turn as a respected and trusted ally, not a mere tool.

You are quite dear to me Morgan and have been ever since I met you. You have given me solace when I needed it most, I enjoy your wit, charm, elegance, and 'creativity'. I desired you to see me as an equal."
>>
>>25918486
>[] While I reserve the right to defend myself and my family - if our lord doctor has truly been playing so loose with our programming it is only a matter of time before some Akuma truly go rogue - my loyalty is to your cause. I only ask that should your faith in me be called into question again we try to reason out our differences before more...expedient methods are invoked ( we are still not amused that she commanded us to self destruct).

You chuckle, low in your throat before letting a full laugh come out in full. You throw a hand down onto the table as you stand, a chainsaw smile upon your face" Morgan."
She grows cold as she looks at you, on edge as to what you would do next.
You take a calm breath, steady," I am still not amused by your command. Should our faith be called into question again, I would like for less hasty measures to be considered... That said." You reach your hand across the table, offering her a handshake between equals, "I am always with you, as I have always been. I respect you, not as a tool to its master, though as an equal and comrade. This has not changed. I owe the Doctor much. My own life.." She takes your hand gingerly, carefully moving it up and down," And that of my family."

she takes her hand back and stands, amber eyes looking away, almost as though she's done something bad," I'm sorry to have doubted yu Faefnir, your actions thus far have shown me nothing different. It is a pleasure... Working with you. I'll be returning to my study. Have a good evening.." She makes her way to leave, yet Armbrust stands in the way of the door.

The Dutiful Akuma stares at her with a harsh glare,' Faefnir forgives you Noah. Though you have not apologized to the rest of us."
Madeleine and Kama come forward as well, blocking off her exeunt.

They all seem sufficiently upset.. Bar your words.

First chance we get we're upgrading leadership. Can't have the Noah getting any headway into controlling the family.

Hell no, we don't upgrade leadership past 2. Once they can think well enough for themselves we can let them do just that.

let's not push our luck

Let's just talk them down.

Talk them down. We've made enough progress now. No need for any unseemliness.
>>
>>25919147
We don't have to order them around ya know. We can just ask kindly and only resort to orders when they (or we) are about to be killed.

Think of it like having Command Seals. They only go into effect when you want them to, same goes for leadership.
>>
>>25918989
>[] (Other)
Let the Noah deal with that herself.

We only have to intervene if it look like a fight will break out. We are equals in the family.
>>
>>25919135

As interesting as that would be, it would count as a missing member of the guard.

3 for Morgan's apology
1 for... Eating Armbrust
2 for talking them down
1 for letting Morgan deal with it herself.

"Respect goes both ways; just as I won't tolerate ourselves to be misused, I will not tolerate the disrespect of Lady Morgan. Let not this one incident diminish our admiration for the Noah."

Time to show Morgan our gallant side again.
>>
>>25918989
[X] Ask Morgan to apologize to them as well, as equals.

Stand up, walk behind her, and gently place our hands on her shoulders, if she seems tense gently massage her a bit.

"My dear Morgan, they have every right to be upset. You commanded them to go against what matters most to them. It would be as if Adam commanded you to leave Florin, to leave me and your experiments just to see if he could.

They ask for but an apology and I'm sure they shall forgive readily once it is given. You are very close to being one of our little Family, you have traveled with us, you have stayed with us, Ivan's sacrifice was for you as well as for all of us. And a Family forgives should an apology be made."

I do not see this ending well... we are SERIOUSLY pushing our luck. Noah are pretty prideful, so just her apologizing to Faefnir was amazing. this can only end badly...

I'm sure it's too late, but since I just got here I'm just adding my two cents that we should talk them down. We're the leader, she apologized to us and through us she already apologized to our family. This is a big, and tentative, first step in the right direction and we don't want to set the whole thing on fire just yet.
>>
>>25919389
To be fair, the whole situation must be really confusing for the Noah. An akuma capable of ignoring commands must be alien to them to say the least. She's the scientist Noah, it's normal for her to experiment.
>>
>>25919474
Kind of extreme for her first experiment to be 'blow yourself up.' She couldn't just ask for an arm cut off like a normal person?
>>
>>25919474
There are lots of ways to preform experiments. From a science perspective its generally a bad idea to start by making things blow up
>>
>>25919515
No because we probably would have done that for her to keep from blowing our cover. Life or death was the only sure way to see if we were capable of saying "fuck that" to a direct order.
>>
>>25919524
I don't think she expected any of the family to carry through her command.

Perhaps only a command going completely against our nature was fitting for her to test her hypothesis.
>>
You swagger over to Morgan, standing behind her, and gently place your hands on her shoulders, feeling her tense up for a moment, yet relax at your touch, her Noah skin fades, and her hair loses the midnight-blue hue.

Whispering into her ear,"My dear Morgan, they have every right to be upset. You commanded them to go against what matters most to them. It would be as if Adam commanded you to leave Florin, to leave me and your experiments just to see if he could." You gesture to the demons before her.
"They ask for but an apology and I'm sure they shall forgive readily once it is given. You are very close to being one of our little Family, you have traveled with us, you have stayed with us, Ivan's sacrifice was for you as well as for all of us. And a Family forgives should an apology be made."

She glares ahead, and Armbrust returns his own, undaunted by whatever power lies within the woman before him.
She trembles beneath your touch, likely with rage," Honestly, I could easily destroy you all, even without my power..." She's mumbles, embittered, causing Madeleine to step back a bit, along with Kama. Armbrust being the only one unmoved by fear of death or threat of harm.

She finally bows her head," I.. apologize for my slight upon you, and towards your entire family.. Now, if you will excuse me."

Armbrust steps aside," I'm sorry for you as well Morgan.."

"You're sorry?" Morgan seems surprised at that..

The Demon nods, slowly," I'm sorry that you had to be the one to do it. I'm glad though. Be sure that those two others escort you properly. Good night Morgan."

The Noah touches her arm gingerly," Good night... yes... good night to you all..." She looks back to give you a smile and slips from your grip, leaving without another word.

>>25919290
I think that after we get an apology from Morgan we should give her a kiss before she goes on her way. Give and take, and all that.

Shes not that bad.
Although If she pulls anything vaguely resembling this shit again I say set where ever she sleeps on fire and send an anonymous tip to the crimsons about demon infestation
>>
>>25919826
At noon we should always visit Morgan to make sure she's safe and to get any special orders.
For afternoon, we can rotate between the 3 choices every day.

Lets gather the family a couple time a week for partying, relaxing and family nights out.

We should really try to get closer to the 2 new akumas.
>>
>>25919826
Noon-afternoon: Visit Morgan, maybe talk with the two sisters.

Afternoon-evening
Gambling with gypsies, at least until they let things slip. like magic.

Evening-night
Usually turning in Early, maybe hunting with the new member of the family a few times.

Do we know how many people this town has? Could be a useful thing to remember.

The gravekeeper is as bright as a sack of bricks.

He's inconsequential right now. We can ask the family to train him but that it.

>>25920018
wait, are you talking about the kids? what about the Sisters? I like them. especially the Floozie, Jacqueline
>>
>>25920028
Are any parts of the town walled?

Any special geographical feature in the town or near the town?

>>25920071
I like the sisters too, they have a lot of potential. However the gravekeeper is a liability at the moment.
>>
>>25920018
We were all that dumb once upon a time, he just has to get a few more kills under his belt. Plus I want to see the Ice powers.
>>
>>25919851
I still like her, she's charming. Besides, we couldn't enter a relationship of any kind with her if we weren't on equal grounds, it just wouldn't work.

>>25919826
For Noon-Afternoon alternate between visiting Morgan, helping her with her experiments, being as charming as possible and getting her used to us being friendly, caring, but independent, and spending time with the family. Make sure to spend time with the kids.

Other things to do at this time is investigate the town, try the wares of the bakeries we don't work out and try to puzzle out their methods by watching them bake and tasting their wares.

For afternoon to evening, spend more time with the gypsies, get closer to them, teach Schwere more about gambling, as we get closer to them see if we can puzzle out which ones may be special and magical, earn their trust, we can give them all to Morgan in one fell swoop when the time is right.

Most of our evening spend time hunting with the Family, spend some time with the new guy educating him, and visit Morgan. Also go out Hunting with Josephine and Elizabeth, invite them on some excursions with our family. Be friendly with them, and get on their good side.

Another good thing to try is to hang out with Morgan as she experiments and experiment ourself with our baking, try to make some pastries, a sourdough for Ivan, another type of bread. Show that we're not all that different, offer her pastries to try and admire what she's been doing with her own experiments. This'll let us prove that we're independent, have our own desires, but still want to be around with her.
>>
>>25920090
he'll get better over the weeks as he gets more kills
>>
So I was thinking about what Schwere's quirk might be and i was thinking that it might be something like sacrafice, penance or an increased sense of guilt that may have imerged from when she wanted the centaur core for herself instead of madie and may have reflected on that and seen it as rather selfish of her and that she still feels responsible for what happened to ivan but then again i could be way off
>>
>>25920028
We should start stealthy creating new Akuma, in case we're found and need to flee without the Noah. She can't be left without backup, and we don't leave the family behind.
>>
>>25920121

>>25920090

This town, unlike Temes has no walls, however it is seated in a river valley with a lake and a river running through a continuation of the valley.

It's seemingly a place far more propserous than Temes, Schwere informs you that it is because of the surrounding villages through the mountains that make trade and supply Florin. There are barracks, and the guards could considered a standing army when it comes time for war.

>>25920127
>Quirk updated

Reviewing your schedules now and compromising... compiling the summary of mundane kills and events and such... EXP will be rewarded after...

Due to your current track record of squeezing out kills, you'll be given full 50 exp for mundane humans.
When the schedule is organized, I'll ask for some rolls and they'll loosely determine the overall success of certain parts of the schedule.

This will also be the time that the rest of the family gets brought up to level 2.
>>
>>25919992
Keep in mind that our character would have willingly had any of the "family" sacrificed before.

Anyway, that whole deal with Morgan could have been handled much better. Some people in tg just lack foresight.

>>25920018
Case in point.

Morgan can be forgiven. We are, after all, supposed to be a tool. And Noah HAVE abused Akuma before. It's not as if she did it just for the hell of it. Her reasons were reasonable, actually, though clearly baseless to us since we're pretty much adamant on continuing with our current path.
>>
>>25919992
But it was for SCIENCE, and she's really big into that. Totally understandable given her personality.

Never forget the words of Nietzsche "A Man desires two things from his mate, danger and play."

She dangerous, she's playful, what a woman!
>>
Rolled 3, 10, 6 = 19

>>25920220
Well at least we have plenty of places to hunt in the surrounding villages and their villagers.
>>
>>25920170
We really can't. Akuma are made by the Good Doctor, if more are made he knows about it because he's the one who did it.

>>25920176
It was only once, I think I can forgive her trying to blow us up once, she apologized afterwards and other than that has been charming, kind, and good to us. We also admire her creativity in kills, her artfulness, she's graceful and beautiful, and we did once say we were her monster, that isn't going away. When we were sad after Ivan died she was there to comfort us.

Yes she told us to blow up, but her reasons behind it are understandable, we just don't want it to happen again. And now that she looks at us as an equal, and has apologized both for her experiments on us and our family we can begin from a more or less fresh position.
>>
>>25920220
I have a question for you, what is on the upstream side of the river?

We could make this another Temes everyone.

We can build ourselves a small army of level 1 to strike. With the help of Morgan, we could try and produce a very high volume of our oily blood poison, dump it in the river then light it on fire. Then we start a giant blaze in the town and unleash our level 1 soldiers.
>>
>>25920233
>Keep in mind that our character would have willingly had any of the "family" sacrificed before.
I beg your pardon fellow of African decent are you sure your thinking about the same Akuma as I am

>>25920244
Too bad we aint a man then isn't it?
>>
>>25920244
I saw that as less then an experiment, and more of her trying to remove an unknown variable.
>>
>>25920315
Yes we are thinking of the same Akuma.

When did you join in?
>>
>>25920315
We self Identify as male I think.

>>25920319
That's what SCIENCE is all about. Removing variables. Making sure there is one and only ONE variable in the experiment. Only then can it be said to have truly tested a hypothesis.
>>
>>25920275
By "Create", I meant driving to grief and persuading, causing them to cry out to the Earl. Like we did with Ivan and the kids.
>>
>>25920312

Upriver lies the spring in which the meltwater comes from . This place is quite close to the source. If you desired, you could poison the source and kill everything near the river until it hits the sea.
>>
>>25920406
This is an interesting plan to say the least. We could do that as a backup if no other options are available.
>>
Rolled 5, 19, 15 = 39

Might want to discuss that plan with Morgan and the Earl, if we can get him. May be a bit too big for us.

>>
>>25920406
Easily traceable to this town, but VERY effective, especially if we travel downriver and "comfort" the survivors. What towns lie on the river?
>>
>>25920406
Maybe we can make a container of sorts that we can fill with poison and break when needed. Imagine their surprise when they find that the river water only adds to the flames rather than quench them.

I have priorities, priorities that overrule my duty/desires as a fa/tg/uy. When RL demands actions that take me away from here I do so. As do we all I believe.
>>
>>25920406
Even better if we get human bandits to do it. It is obvious that the war isn't going well for our side. If we can promote more war amongst humans with no obvious Noah or Akuma involvement though... Well it might just lighten the load on our dear Duke.
>>
>>25920319
This is true.

It's not as if Morgan's worries are baseless. We do have the potential to BE loose cannons (not necessarily rebels). However, the issue did not come out all that organically. We've only ever showed loyalty and a desire to please to the Noah.

So either Morgan jumped to conclusions or just a little awkwardness from Duke.

>>25920534
Let's go with that. But add in 'keeping watch over current events' whenever we hang out with the family. News is important.
>>
>>25920525
It's probably going to take hundreds of tons of the stuff to infect the river. We really should talk to Morgan about this.

I'm pretty sure that her major impetus for testing that in that fashion was because of Adam. And I think she was hoping that we would disobey that.

We won her heart at least two times by her count, perhaps more by now, and honestly she has understandable reasons for testing that, perhaps she want too far or Adam made her to go too far, but we can forgive. She's pretty much Family and she apologized. The reasons we were able to resist her orders is because we are the type of Akuma who won her heart, she wanted us to resist, to disobey, to be more equal.

WMG guy here. I was thinking that the Earl may keep us around for protection against another Noah following in the footsteps of the fourteenth. Actually had assumed that was the reason that the Earl made the orders from Noahs possible to ignore in times when it conflicts with personality especially since one of the major facets of every Akuma's personality is the desire to serve the Earl. Also I'm reasonably certain the guys talking about back when we were willing to sacrifice the family are thinking of the first few threads back when we were planning on letting Ivan die to the exorcists to get the heat off of us.

Having been properly employed by "The Warm Morning" You enter in on your first day to see the gentle woman that runs the establishment, a rather pretty middle-aged woman by the name of Andrea Flower, and quite notably, often covered by it from chest to heel.
"Oh, why hello there Jacob, it was Firebrand wasn't it? So good to have along! What with winter and the lack of influx from the farms, we've been baking like never before! Say, Jacob, you've worked in a bakery before, right? Have you ever... Put a bun in a young woman's oven?"
The question catches you off guard and you blush furiously at the question,"I, why ever would you say that? What would give you that idea?!" This is what you say, however on the inside, you sweat heavily with how... aware she is of horrible bakery pick up lines..
She almost seems to purr at your reaction," Sayyy Jacob, I'm a widow, wouldn't you know... and you're a healthy boy, would you be interested in buttering my muffin for a toss in the flour?"
Oh satan.. It's like she's reading your brainwaves or something, how?! She closes in on you, an older woman's body carrying the scent of flour, cherries, and other baked goods.
With a cluck of her tongue, she marks your nose with flour," Time to get for work young baker, time's awasting and I need to show you how we operate.
"I, um.. uh..." Your circuits are about fried from the blatant flirtation..

- - - - - - - - - -

After a few days you arrive one morning and the owner;s not there, yet you've pucked up quickly on her methods of madness, being a machine and all. This is clearly not beyond you, despite how convoluted some of her methods are.
>>
You get to work making things for the morning among tarts, pies, and other interesting pastries.. This bakery works with a lot of fruit and it's been giving you ideas for something special.. however none of these treats "pop" for you.. You consider putting them into something more like bread... or more of a cake-like thing? You'll have to experiment later..

In your early morning work, you're interrupted by the yawn of a drowsy, and half-naked Andrea Rose, walking to her water basin, drawing it into a glass and walking back upstairs... You had full view of her front and rear areas of "business" and she didn't seem to notice or care that you saw her..

Later in the same day she comes down, fully dressed and nonethewiser. She congratulates you on doing such a good job starting up, especially with her sleeping in from a hangover. With an arm over your shoulder, her chest presses into your side...

There's something hot in here and it isn't your heart...

- - - - - - - -
>>
After another several days, you have the morning to yourself once more and after checking to see that the woman is still heavily asleep, you take ash from the Oven and begin experimenting, throwing some actual fresh fruit into your built in oven out of curiosity.

You feel an aweful, wrenching pain from the fruit exploding and bleeding within your body and you hastily remove the product to find that it's a perfectly charred black brick of a load with fruits dotted through, blackened in much the same way. With a shrug of your shoulders, and giving into the temptuous call of a new treat, you bite into it only to taste the most gawdawful thing you ever have.

You spit it and damn near wrench into a chamber-pot in the other room.

Andrea comes down at the noise and she tries the bread, spinning jumping, and going all sorts of everywhere," THIS, this looks so foul, much like a turd from a cow forged into a brick... but it's.. it's so good... how, tell me how did you make this!?"
"I... I don't remember... I just started throwing ingredients together..."
"You'll throw them together again and again until you replicate this wonder before my eyes! Come on Jacob, it couldn't have been that hard right? Right?"
The next few days are spent with you trying to recreate something you can never make in front of her.. Or hell, something you're loathe to make ever again.

You visit Morgan every other day of the week, at first she's wary of you, scared of what you might say or feel about her. It's an odd thing, as she still treats Lisa and Jacqueline much as she would any other, and judging from her small outburst before apologizing the other night? The same to the res of the family... However she seems to regard you, and you alone as an equal despite being an Akuma, a monster created by the Good Doctor..
She asks you here and there for specimens, easy, inconspicuous ones for now. She lives up to her name as the “Ability” of the Noah well, coming along in her secret research in the church Basement, since the Florin Mausoleum's proved to become a bit to risky with Lady Florin's funeral approaching.
Her progress has manifested in controlling the latest subject with rods implanted in the brain... She's been obsessed with the brain and muttering on about mana concentrations and how it must be dictated by the brain.

On days when you aren't seeing Morgan, you're off with Kama and the children now and again. Often, you find that Wendel's taken to carrying a wineskin as of late, seeming a bit tipsier around you.
>>
Kralle just seems to be waiting excitedly for what the next kill will be.. it seems as though she's starting to take after Kama..
“Kama, is it really alright for Wendel to be drinking in public? He's even staggering..” You whisper to her with your eye on the dirty blonde boy.
The demon-woman gives you a gentle slap,” My name's Claire now, Jacob, remember that, okay?”
You nod, roll your eyes,” Right, right, why is the kid drinking Claire?”
She giggles,” Why, because it's funny and he lies it.”
Kralle jumps up and down before you, giggling mad,” Funny and he likes it, funny and he likes it! Say, where are we going next? I'm thinking I want to get a girl with a pretty, I'd like to see a girl in a pretty dress,” She mumbles to herself as the party walks through the woods, getting some distance from Florin to hunt out the other villages.
You've brought Edward along, though he seems quiet as usual, nothing out of the ordinary.. though you're getting the feeling that he doesn't like walking all this way... and get the occasional groan,” Sleepy... Tired... Let... rest...” However with a word, you get him to pick up his step... he's not much for personality yet it seems...”
>>
>>25922805
A bit lazy, this guy is.
>>
Rolled 57

>>25923047
Could be a trait growing, though that won't be good if he goes off on his own. Staying to one place is a recipe for disaster, and not the bread kind.
>>
Upon a separate excursion, you try to tear Eliza and Jacqueline away for the trip, however the demons hastily claim that they have duties to the church, and that they may not come with you.
It seems that they've been avoiding you recently... And Lisa hasn't been speaking at all.. They do seem pleased by the invitation though.

Another trip with Wendel Kralle, Edward and Kama....

You choose to go further East, upriver and note the source-spring this time... The hunts have been good of late, Kama's reached Level 2 after slaughtering half of one of the nearby villages, diverting the attention of the crimson cross to the remainder.. by Armbrust's advisement however you've begun to find that this team, save for the recently 1.5 Edward, is quite keen about speed.

Only, when you'd begun your kill upon those that wandered the outskirts of the village, you had not anticipated that it would be a trap laid out by the Crimson Order.
Kama, in her Level 2 form, would sweep by in her Weasel-shark form, slashing out the legs of the poor bystander, only to be stopped short from the kll by a powerful barrier array... At once, you felt the urge to jump out and assist your comrade, yet it was then, as she was trapped by the barrier that two Crimson knight Mages stepped out of the snow, hardly shivering due to the slight warmth from one of their accursed talismans. Of the two men, one focuses on Kama, adding strength to the barrier with his own power, the other speaks with the man, thanking him for his bravery, even as he begins to weave power between his fingers, preparing a proper spell to finish her off...
>>
> How will you strike them?

>Edward has gained the ability to shoot shards of Black ice and whip up flurries of snow.
>Kama's ability allows her to fly upon the air and create invisible blades from whipping her armscythes and tail-sickle.
>Kralle has gained an incredibly light and quick frame with the beginning of Insect-like wings upon the back, and her claws have sharpened into viscous talons.
>Wendel's power of Lightning magic has increased, allowing him to cast explosive bolts with enough of a charge...

Schwere has informed you, these barriers of theirs will block magic and physical attack alike until they are properly overloaded or dispelled.
>>
>>25923129
Hmm..

Perhaps cloak the battlefield in a blinding smog, then stealthkill one, and have Kralle stealthkill the other?
>>
Rolled 41

>>25923129
Edward carpets the barriers in snow, while Wendel charges his magic. You take the guy charging his magic, Kralle/Kama should serve as distractions if they can see past the snow, trying to get them to hit the Akuma that are a threat. Once Wendel charges the magic, overload a barrier, then swoop in for the kill.
>>
>>25923115
Are both of the Crimson's outside the Barrier?

Have Edward whip up as large a flurry of snow as he can in order to block line of sight, it'll keep the villages from knowing what's going on, it'll keep the Mages from seeing us sneak us on them, it'll make the screams more terrifying due to them not knowing what's happening, and it'll be fun.

Wendel goes after one of them, getting behind him and using the fact that the snow is conductive to drop a few bolts of lightning on him frying him inside his armor, which is also conductive, very convenient that, and Kralle is incredibly quick and should be able to get behind the other one and rip him apart with her talons before he can do anything.

Kama will make holding the barrier difficult by throwing blades of air at any weak points in the barrier, focusing on a single place.

We'll assist on whichever one is the most difficult to take down.
>>
Edward and Faefnir obscure vision with snow and smoke.

Wendel shocks the one about to attack Kama, then Faefnir and Kralle rush into melee. We keep the smoke thick and poisonous.
>>
>>25923129
We have to focus on the man casting the offensive spell.

I say we attack him along with Kralle using our incredible speed.

Wendel and Edward can shoot lightning and snow respectively at the mage maintening the barrier to disrupt him.
>>
>>25923129
have edward whip up flurries of snow, along with our smoke, to cause some chaos and make it harder for them to see around.

we focus on killing the one that's targeting kama

kralle and wendel work together to busy the other mage.kralle makes quick attack and get away before getting caught, while wendel supports krelle and suppresses the mage with electricity while kralle is not attacking.

our first objective is saving kama while others keep the second mage busy.
>>
>>25923129
Hassle the guy trying to cast the kill spell while Wendel powers up a powerful bolt. when he's ready, have him fire on the guy, hopefully killing him or stunning him long enough for us to kill him. then have Kralle go in and kill the guy holding up the barrier.
>>
>>25923129
Let's see if the barrier reacts to extreme changes in temperature like metal does:

Blast it with a steady stream of poison and fire, then have edward follow up with his ice. The others can support by keeping the crimson cross crew distracted.
>>
Also, Scwhere is with us? What's her special ability?
>>
Rolled 52

>>25923363
I'd say ice, then fire if we do this. Already cold out, why spend more energy doing the same thing? Alternatively, see if those amulets and shields of theirs protect them from the heat. Roast them in their shells, like the cowards they are!
>>
>>25923404
she is not with us, but her special ability is gravity.
>>
>>25923129
Have Kralle attack with her speed to overload the barrier, and then Wendel can zap the ones who were inside.
>>
>>25923495
I don't think there are any mages inside the barrier, if they were inside Claire would just rip them apart and slice them in half.
>>
half of the strategies consider mages inside the barrier, and half consider them outside.

A woman works in her bakery, cleaning up after a good day's work... She thinks about that strapping young man that's been helping her with work lately.. He reminds the Baker of her late husband, It's been more than a few years since he's passed away, and she's young, she's pretty... The young man hasn't spoken much of all about having a lady in his life..

And isn't he one hell of a baker...

A man enters her door, bringing the cold in with him, it's begun to snow, and he stares at the buxom beauty.

"W-why hello there! It's a bit late for fresh goods, though I could sell you some at a bit of a discount if you'd like?" The woman smiles warmly and the weathered man says nothing. His eyes look as though he hadn't eaten for days, though that wasn't why he was starving so...

The man stumbles forward, no lurches at her, the woman nearly dropping her broom as she shyed away.
"I'm sorry, would you please leave? I don't provide that kind of service to.. customers.." Her voice trembled with fear, as she swung the broom, only for it to be caught by a mighty hand, peeling away slowly into an iron claw, the pits that are the man's eyes deepening as his jaw begins to tear into an aweful, gaping maw.

The Woman's fear leaks out of her body as sher scrambles away. wishing that the young man could be here, yes, yes, he would save her from such a monster, wouldn't he?

However it is all too soon that sh'es backed up into a corner, nowhere left to hide as the demon-man closes in, reveling in her terror.

She grabs things and begins throwing, tossing, anything to get this monster to run away...

One of the things goes straight into its mouth, in entirety and it snaps its maw shut, spasming and twitching like made shortly after.

The creature flees into the streets as it begins to fall apart, a disgusting mess... From its maw, there's a black, brick-like bread hanging from the jaws...

The Evil thing grimaces, what is this horrid thing that denies the baker her fate?!

We had an 81 showing on not exactly the hardest combat action we've ever seen. The crit was after the first 3 rolls, we had it all under control, there was no need to do it aside from making it a bit more impressive of a kill and calling it closer.

People wanted to call this thing closer to us because they thought it'd be nice and polite to us, that it wouldn't ever have downsides for us. They were wrong.
>>
>>25924417
I wouldn't bet that it was an Akuma.

>>25924474

>>
>>25924511
*LE GASP* THE THING IS YOU!
>>
The combat strategy is like second nature due to the bonding experiences you've all shared from later hunts, you all understand your strengths, and how to undermine your weaknesses.

You billow out a haze from the smoke of your furnace with your manipulation of smoke even as Edward adds in his own twist of a smokescreen with a flurry of snow.

The children are already on the move, targets locked as they slip through the smog.

You see bursts of flame and lightning flung through the air, though going the wrong way.
The Mage's counteraattack..
You see a man running, coughing from the smog. The man that was bait...

You zip around the clearing and cut him off, trailing a thick haze everywhere that you go, catching him from a blindside and snatching away the screaming man.
A talisman appears before you as an almost reflexive respons however you unleash a burning gout of flame from your jaws, turning it into nothing but a sheet of paper.

You are quite sick of the crimson and their magic.. gripping the man firmly betwixt your metal claws as he screams and flails against your mechanical strength.

It is your good fortune that the mages fight blind, you hear Wendel's proper discharge rip through the air in a thundering blast, cleaving through the smog and snow.

You sense that the fighting has ended, as that odd shiver runs through your body again... What... is this ... you wonder, once more... Just what is it that's watching you?

As you ponder this, the barrier holding Klaire is destroyed by the combination of her own overwhelming offensive potential and the children's own attacks from the outside.

You draw the smog back into your own body to remove the evidence and see that the two Crimson cross members are still alive, though just barely...

It matters not who does the deed... However it's the honor that matters.

>>
>>25924551
I'd like to learn the recipes from her first, and now whatever it is it's not exactly happy with the bread we baked and by extension possibly us.

>>25924531
>Detain them for Morgan's experimentation.

She needs important data and serious magicians make good data, hell, she might get more secrets out of them than we will. Obviously we strip them off all their clothes and talismans before we take them and we'll give the talismans to Morgan for investigation, keep them restrained, and all that jazz. We don't want any complications. I'd suggest a Mr. Stumpy but that might kill them in their current health. Maybe breaking their hands as well.

>>25924596
If we can't take both take the one who's bleeding and have Edward make sure he doesn't bleed by freezing the site oft he wounds but nothing more, less possible brain damage, the other we let the children share as they performed the kills.

You turn to the human that's still struggling in your claws, and turn back to Wendel, your reptilian features pulling back into something of a demented smile with your burning eye-sockets.
Wendel quickly reverts to human-form, and takes a swig of his wineskin only to find it empty. THe kid throws it down as his face blushes," G-g-goddamnit.. I'm all out of my... My... My Drink! What the hell is this? Say, we gonna be killing other people? I need a refill!"
Klaire floats beside the child and pats him on the head, gently, a shark-like weasel-snout grinning with her humor," Oh now, now, calm down Wendel! We have prsents here now anyway!"
He chuckle low and maliciously within your throat as you look to the man that has since lost consciousness at the sight of you "family" You shrug and crush his throat, No reason to deal with him further after all. "Now, onto the fun part. Wendel, Kralle. We're taking the bleeding one alive. You're free to have the Shocked one.. I'd like you to see him... pulled apart.. in half? Yes... Grab an arm and a leg, make a wish, and pull. The one with the larger side will have their wish granted."
The wish both look at you, mystified and immeadiatley revert to their demon forms, grabbing the fried armored mage by each side with recently developed jaws and begin their game of tug-o-war.
Klaire cheers the both of them on...

With a point," Edward, freeze the wounds, he's not losing anymore blood. We need him nice and preserved, We'll bandage him later.
>>
Edward comes out from the snowdrifts in full, his Robotic body as black as frostbite, and a cold blue energy radiates from his eyes and veins throughout his body... If you had to guess, his core should become a cryo-heart soon, just as Wendel's taken to becoming a dynamo based on respective elemental affinities.
Edward groans about," Do I really have to? Dragging back this lump's going to take forever... Not to mention keeping him from dying of my cold..." His speech has come in.
You nod," Yes, we're doing it for our Allies, the Noah." THe word "ally" still sounds strange to you... Where it had once been Masters, or creators... how things change...

Edward hisses out a frosty breath over the wounds, freezing them shut with more precision than he'd give himself credit for.

The children finish their game by the time he's done, Wendel won, and he wishes for more liquor...
>>
>>25924982
And he shall have more liquor when we return home.

Once Wendel and Kralle are back in human forms give them hugs and ruffle their hair, we may as well take a more fatherly role.

And Edward really does seem Lazy, or he just likes bitching.

Given that he has speech now we can ask if he has a name he'd like or suggest one for him.
>>
Almost two weeks after your near-exploding incident, you find her frustrated within her workspace, her papers, and notes thrown everywhere and the corpse of the Crimson Cross prisoner with nothing but the skull left.

“I'm sorry Faefnir, I know it must have been risky bringing this on in, especially with how the Crimson's patrols have increased since their loss..” You hear her muttering from the corner of the church Basement..
“It's just not working... I was so happy when you brought this one to me as well... I was overjoyed that I'd be able to work on the brain of an actual mage... I'm sorry, we're going to need to clean it up.”

You remember how it had been when you took this one in... It was difficult, sneaking the thing in through cart covered with sacks of flower, and then with the fact that it had been a Sunday, with people staying with Pastor James even after Mass to have thir souls saved by god...
That demented man had said that his favorite part of the job was confession... To hear what sinful things people had been up to and thought a few words would absolve their souls of... What a laugh, he'd say...
He was the one that helped you check for talismans. With armor removed, the talismans were rooted out from his person and properly burned as to not accidentally trigger the unstable mana infused within.
>>
At least the pastor was useful..
After all that trouble, the corpse is here, and dead... Morgan in the corner, nearly crying over the loss of an ideal specimen... How she must feel right now...

You touch the corpse and feel the cold of it creep through your fingers... its' been dead for some time, likely she failed last night and has been down here since, yet as you try to pull your hand away, the thing grabs you and gasps out a breath,”M-my... Head... Get.... Out....” The thing falls back onto the table, and you look at Morgan.
She doesn't look up at you,” It's a failure, it's no good for infiltration with its head like that, though it is similar enough to a noah that it can command Akuma and cast spells with Dark Energy instead of Mana, like us...” She grips her scalp, nearly pulling her hair out,” Grrr, why, why is this the only solution for extended control?! This is bloody awful! Hideous even!

>Morgan has created her first Skull...
>>
>>25925136

Edward doesn't want to pick a name, he feels like responding to more than one name would be too much work.
>>
>>25925187
I would like to ask Morgan about a way to produce a lot of akuma blood poison.

Something along the lines of
"As the ability of Noah, I have a puzzle for you. I want to create a back up plan to eradicate the town should people the order starts suspecting us. My plan would require a lot of akuma blood poison, more than a hundred time what my veins hold. "

>>
>>25925197

>>25925187
Woohoo! Start by comforting Morgan a bit, wrap an arm around her, and put the other hand on top of the hand gripping her scalp, we don't want her to pull out her pretty hair.

"Morgan darling, I know it is not pretty, but calm yourself. You have accomplished so much here, more than most ever could, you simply don't see it.

You have discovered a way to match the Crimson Cross's mages, a way to create intelligent allies who can command Akuma a ability restricted to Noah and myself.

Usually a Level 1 Akuma is found quickly and killed, but a group of fledgling Akuma under the direction of one of these creations would live for so much longer as they would be taught caution and be told what targets to attack and which to avoid, the spellcasters of the Crimsons would be countered and no longer could they rely on them to fight the Akuma, the Akuma can accomplish so much more with the aid of your creations instead of being snuffed out in their childhood. You can create families and warbands now with these creations of yours leading them and helping the Akuma grow.

And if they can cast spells could they not disguise themselves? Yes, there are flaws in your creation, but you can improve on them with time. Look at what you have and take pride in it, for it is wonderful."
