Once again, the time has come to serve your Mother and Queen.

You are the Rozoolliim, an insectoid-race that lovingly and dutifully serves your Queen: Rozooll, God-Eater and Mistress of the Sands.

The last thread was documented and saved by a kind Anon. You can find it here: http://pastebin.com/x0HVGUq1
This Anon deserves your love and praise.

On the last episode of Insectophiliac Hive Rangers:

Tauzel, Protector of the Sands, spoke through your Queen and offered the Rozoolliim a place as his favored children, for them to act as his harbingers, and aid in his return to power in this world.
Presented with a choice and Tauzel's Heart (the last relic of his power and spirit) the Queen looked to her children for an answer.
They claimed that as their mother and provider, Rozooll was the one true God. With this in mind, she made her decision: to claim Tauzel's power for her own.
She devoured the relic and gained extraordinary power. She grew in strength, size, and is now able to access the Aether: the pool of magic that, by unknown machinations of the Gods, the Rozoolliim are barred from.
The Hive shifted worship from the Desert/Oasis to Rozooll as a result.
~
In the early days of the Rozoolliim, before the Queen gained a dying God's power, a diplomatic convoy was sent Westward. They never returned...until recently.
A single Worker limped back home, talking of creatures who attacked them on sight.
With her recently acquired powers, Rozooll divined that one of her children yet remains somewhere to the West, as a captive.
~
The Queen birthed a single, large egg. An unusual occurrence.
After study and inspection by the Curious Ones, they concluded that Princess must be within! The Queen has named her Mazooll.
~
Measures to make personal quarters for the future Princess have been taken. Tunnelers have been given this task.
~
Great advancements have been made in farming and cultivation, considered necessary for the Hive's ever-growing requirement for food.
~
A group of 5 Warriors and 1 Tunneler were dispatched to explore Eastcave, a large structure made of square stones, recently unearthed by Tauzel's sandstorm. They are a day past their expected return.
~
1 Scavenger failed to return after sundown. This has never happened before, but perhaps it is of no concern?

workers > farm the fruit and the shrooms
nomads > what are those fuckers?
warriors > patrol, 2 groups of 5, search for potential atackers and the thing that killed our scavenger. the rest guard the nest

Nomads are a caste evolved with thicker shells, adept at repelling the desert heat. They are capable of farther travel, though they aren't very fast.

Change my vote on the elderly to this >>25921822

>>
>>25921619

The Curious Ones have much work to do:
1 is to start preparations for construction of a main gate.
Another is given an odd task: To develop a form of documentation. The Rozoolliim have no language, having communicated with a weak form of extrasensory. This could take a while.
The third is to keep watch and study over Mazooll's egg. Progress can and will follower as it develops.
~
The subject of the elderly now being an issue, courses of action are being brooded on by the Queen. Some suggest eating the weak. Others suggest use as fertilizer. Further discussion will be needed.
~
The Queen resumes her task of breathing life into the colony.
She lays a clutch of 9 unfertilized eggs.
~
Workers start construction of the Gate. This will take a little while.
~
Cultivation and Scavenging return 5.6 units of food.

~
Nomads resume worship of the glorious God-Queen Rozooll.
The Queen reports happiness at this.

Consensus needed on the stated objects before turn completion.
>>
>>25922652
I think we should keep the hive secured at all cost. If we start sending troops to die for troops that might already be dead, we are fucking ourselves in the ass. Our Mother is our main priority. If we leave the hive unguarded, might as well kill ourselves.
>>
>>25922691
Warriors remain on guard. Take a curious one off of the language project and put him on helping with the reinforcement of the gate along with workers. We need to make sure we don't drowned down there. The scavengers and what is left of the workers can cultivate. If scavengers leave the hive, they could die in the upcoming (possible) storm. Also, have a worker to fertilize the egg, then continue working on the gate.

A Curious one and several Workers continue construction of the Gate.

Ready the warriors in case shit gets ugly...

~
The Gate nears completion!
~
Harvest returns 7 units of food.
~
A team of 5 Warriors and a Nomad are sent to receive whatever figures are approaching from the East. They return shortly after with...
the Eastcave dispatch! Unfortunately, they are short 3 Warriors...
They have much to tell of Eastcave...it's huge. As big as the Hive. Maybe even bigger. But it's dangerous...there are many things in there that kill. Living things. Sticks with sharp edges. Fire spit from the walls. But there are also beautiful things inside. Big stones, shaped like big faces. Even many that look like the Queen!
They relay that a big chamber was found, with a strange object inside, but an enormous creature lives within. The dispatch, fearing for their lives, escaped.

Sticks with sharp edges?

I wonder if we could develop such tools. If we take the same principle as a hoe, and perhaps extend the blade...
>>
>>25923412
The next few batches of eggs should be theirs to fertilize.
The tunnelers should improve the hive, possibly dig deeper to give more space for upcoming generations.
Send a couple of nomads south to see if there are any friendly civilizations.
If the Queen can lay eggs, have her lay eggs. Until the princess is mature.
Continue cultivating like before.
>>
>>25923412
queen> lay eggs
workers > farm them fruits, farm them shrooms
nomads > worship
warriors and scavengers > make 4 teams of 4 scavengers and two warriors, and one team of 5 scavengers and 3 warriors, and go scavenge, if possible, take down any big animal using the warriors so we get some extra food

curious ones > continue researching in specificied projects

tunnelers> expand farm land, make refuse pile for dead bodies of old insects
>>
>>25923537
The the thundering shitstorm coming our way, I don't think it's wise to send out warriors and scavengers. I figured since all the nomads are doing so far is worshiping, a couple could be used for their real purpose.
>>
>>25923503
But we would need more shiny bars.
We should have the curious ones figure out how to smelt our ore. Then, we can make as many sharp sticks as we need.

Or steal the "sharp" part and apply it to, say, metal claws that fit onto our obligatory ant-mandibles. Assuming those are obligatory.
>>
>>25923583
they should be back by sundown, not really sending them far

also, nomads are slow, and if scavengers cant cover much terrain, we will end up with even less food
>>
>>25923631
Well, theres nothing stopping us from drafting a design.
>>
>>25923636
The nomads are looking for civilization. They are more resistant to the desert weather. I don't expect them to make it back, but if we don't try, we won't know.
>>25923631
This seems like a good idea. The gate should be done next turn, so the curious ones should work on it then.
>>
>>25923683
Are curious ones even needed for the gate anymore? If not, have them work on the weapons.
>>
>>25923683
but leaving the scavengers alone got one missing, i dont want to afford more losses. and anyways... the scavenging parties are coming back soon. the nomads could explore.

>>25923683
the same curious one that made the door could have ideas about how to improve it now, maybe we just need to give him metal that he himself could smelt.

>>25923752
ongoing researchs are:
one guy is studying the cocoon of marzool (the princess) with this we could get a stronger princess

the other guy is trying to make a written language

and there is one guy fooling around with the door.

... i do preffer to use the metal for traps, so we could have the curious one at the door investigate how to make them.
>>
>>25923833
Yeah we should figure out a way to smelt the ore. But we shouldn't send soldiers out to help scavengers because there are enemies and they already took out three of our soldiers.
>>
>>25923958
>Don't defend our scavengers, our soliders will get killed by the monsters

What?
>>
>>25923958
man... >>25924005

the soldiers are there to protect the scavengers, if they can bring something bigger, sweet bonus, but their mission is to protect them scavengers, then come back. and we have plenty of soldiers and nomads to take care of defense of the nest
>>
>>25924005
Our scavengers haven't been touched. Only one has went missing. We know we have enemies, and those enemies have already fucked us enough. We have a limited amount of soldiers and so far, two seemingly powerful enemies.
>>
>>25924070
i could give you that, but if any other scavenger gets lost and i want fucking patrols
>>
>>25924048
Nomads don't defend shit, don't pull that. If you want to have soldiers defend scavengers, alright. But we should have at least ten stay home to guard the Queen.
>>
>>25924105
>>25924108
How about a compromise. The ten stay back and the rest are fair game to use. Fair?
>>
>>25924070
Uh, yeah. Because we haven't been sending our scavengers into dangerous areas. If they have an escort, they can take more risks, and thus, more reward.
>>
>>25924143
seems fair to me, also... where is op?
>>
>>25923412

The Gate is completed!
A fusion of metal and stone, with some branches for reinforcement, it's a formidable obstacle for any would-be intruders.
~
The Curious One is given a new task: try and replicate the things described in Eastcave. Work on this will commence.
~
The Worker-fertilized clutch hatches into larva. D'awwww...
~
No longer feeling safe sending Scavengers on their own, several teams of Scavengers and Warriors are sent out. It's considerably slower with the Warriors tagging along, but it's definitely safer. All teams report back at sundown.
~
Cultivation and Scavenging return 7 Units of food, in addition to a crate found in the wastes! Inside are assortments of...some kind of strange food? Additional 5 Units acquired.
~
The Queen births a fresh clutch of 12 unfertilized eggs.
The Hive is starting to get a little crowded...
~
The Nomads continue to worship Rozooll.

1. More eggs
2. More rooms for farming and living quarters
3. Train our warriors against each other while they're busy doing nothing
4. Nomads go into desert looking for anything interesting, reporting back upon seeing ANYTHING of interest without checking it out.
5. Scavengers scavenge, specifically looking for renewable food sources
>>
>>25925067
More specific...

I was thinking about feeding stuff to Rozooll, like we did that giant worm, and getting a wierd mutation out of it.

Though the "eat a sword - grow a sword-hand" idea is cool too, and we DO have 2 points to spend...
>>
>>25925147
No--let's become Rust Monsters.
>>
>>25924943
A) Shift scavenger focus to look for firestones and other useful stuff rather than food. The farm's got that covered for now.
C) Nomads explore immediate aboveground surroundings
F) Tunellers have at it.
>>
>>25925177
And continue smelting research.

In fact, OP, I think we can agree to just continue that until we've got it.
>>
>>25925147
Well, that would be cool. I think the "eat sword, be sword" would be a bit over-powered. I really think we should have a caste with wings. Shit would be so cash.
>>25925161
Surely you jest.
>>
>>25925199
Think of the possibilities! We march out, disintigrate the enemies weapons and armor, then lay into them with out own!
>>
>>25924943

Tunnelers continue to expand the Den.
In doing so, they find 3 shiny ore chunks, and 2 Flamestones.
~
The Queen lays a clutch of 11 unfertilized eggs.
~
The old clutch of eggs hatch into larva.
~
A Curious One inspects the dead Scavenger's body. The cuts are rough, but whether that's a testament to the method of attack or the days spent in the harsh desert are mystery.
~
The Nomads are sent to explore. They return a bit past sundown. All are uneventful, save one:
He reports seeing a small convoy of creatures, traveling from the West. They are heading straight for the Oasis! He thinks they saw him, but made no attempt to harm him. They should be here in 1-2 days.
~

But we couldn't use technology. You know, that thing we are exceptionally good at? Yeah, no. Sorry, but it would hurt us just as much as the enemy. A lot of enemies will have magic, so we need technology to make up for it.
>>
>>25925252
But if we make it a controlled rust, then we gain an even greater technological advantage.

First we deploy the Rust caste, and destroy their technology, then we pull them back and deploy our regular forces with all of our tech.

>>

we need more curious ones, we are researching too slow.

have a worker fertilize those eggs, our big as fuck farm could benefit from that

queen lays eggs.

how about we use our evo like this?

one point into a mayor evolution for the queen, so she gets the power to absorb the abilities of things she eats, and transmit them to a caste, by example, we feed her a lot of birds to her, she births a new flying caste.

the other points goes into something similar for the princesses, so every princess has their own unique castes to her service
>>

They infiltrate the enemy, and sabotage (after stealing new and novel designs) all of their tech before the invasion.

yop
>>
>>25925523
Not really. Have you seen sand cannons and actual canister shot? If we can just get our soldiers to have a good enough compression and expelling force sand will do just fine. It'll certainly incapacitate fleshy stuff from a decent distance, blinding anything with eyes, and absolutely DEVASTATING the enemy at short range. Think of it like a shotgun.
>>
>>25925624

>>
>>25925580

>>
>>25925645
We will have to wait a little while. Remember that evolutions also take time and energy on the Queen's part. She could die from too many in too little of time.
>>
>>25925645
Does worshipping even -do- anything? Why waste a caste on something with no discernible effect?

Anyway, we should probably, instead of making a new caste, improve the ones we currently have. Like trying to make those damn Curious Ones more common, or fertile.
>>
>>25925710
That's a good idea. But just to make sure, does everybody want the "you are what you eat" evolution?
>>

I think it's dangerous. It'll hurt chances of diplomacy if we're horrible monsters covered in blades and acid sacs.

We can make it organic. A spit gland with power in mind instead of creating acid which would require specialized materials and time to replenish would work fantastically.

>Almost instantly reloading shotgun with infinite ammo that can blind, incapacitate or even kill our enemies outright

Imagine ten of our soldiers just BLASTING the shit out of an enemy formation. Any sort of shield wall they set up just gets fucking wrecked, we charge in, refill our canisters during the charge, and blast them again when we get there. They're fucking destroyed.

>We back away as they advance, refilling our canisters
>Another volley of sand, the enemy advance slows to a crawl as half of the tunnel is filled with enemy dead dying wounded and knocked down
>We can crawl backwards and refill our canisters faster than they can crawl through the tunnel towards us
>Continuous sand shotgun blasts
>Tunnel is absolutely chock full of enemy dead

The look of certainty falters, if only for a second, at the sight of the Great Queen looming before him. Rozooll sees this, much to her satisfaction, but he quickly masks it, if only for the sake of his followers, with grim determination taking over once more.
He takes a step forward, Warriors tensing and blocking his path to the Queen.
He tries once more to communicate, but to no avail. He makes a few gestures and Rozooll understands: He wishes to try and communicate mentally.
Concentrating, Rozooll's eyes turn a brighter shade of orange and the creatures gasp, one even shuddering.

Rozooll can hear the thing in her thoughts now.
Now that a connection is established, there are a few ways to handle this:

Rozooll speaks first, projecting her voice into his mind.
"Who are you? Why do enter my home, so sure of yourself after killing my children?"

The creature, shocked, replies:
"I assure you, my Queen, I have done no such thing. Though I do know who did. I would be lying if I said that it wasn't my people, but my followers and I are innocent. We have traveled through the desert for many days looking for you and after finding one of your children, we know we were close. Every acolyte within 50 leagues felt the death of Tauzel and feared whatever creature was responsible. But my acolytes and I...we knew there was TRUE power in that act. We have come to serve you, however we can."

Is he lying? There seemed to be SOME truth to his words, but these are strange creatures. And of the same kind that have killed your children in the past. Can he be trusted?

>A) Accept his fealty. His kind could prove useful in future endeavors. Who knows what knowledge they could provide?

"...my Queen, I had no knowledge of this. But if your child still remains in my home, I know where it would be kept. Allow me to prove my loyalty by returning home and returning him to you. Then we may deliver retribution to the snakes who have so cruelly culled your children."

>>
>>25927591
The sacrifice is for the Queen to eat. She gains evolution, just like the worm and the heart. We don't know when we will get another Evolution point. This could get us more. We will always find food and metal and technology.

I can accept that.

Begrudgingly, but still
>>
>>25927644
So, have them bring the captured Rozoolliim and his captured back alive. It doesn't matter how they do it. They can make them think they are going to a magical land for all I care. Or they can knock them unconscious. Once they have brought them back, the Queen will eat them, and then they will have proved their loyalty and received Rozooll's blessing.
>>
>>25927667

And from eating them, we can get ants with hands.

Pretty much everyone in the thread gets their way this way. Win.
>>
>>25927503

After a moment, Rozooll replies:
"Very well. In doing this, you will prove your devotion to me. But know this, little creature: should you betray me, should you even ATTEMPT to return to your home with deceit in your heart, no distance shall separate you from my wrath. No cave shall be deep enough hide. No amount of magic in this world will be powerful enough to keep my children at bay. Leave now and return swiftly. Time vital...for you, that is."

The man drops on one knee
"I, Medinh of Kaalun, swear to accomplish this in the name of Rozooll, my Queen, Mother, and God. I shall return with your child and the people responsible for the deeds done to you, or die trying. I will return in four day's time."

With that, the man stands, beckons to his men, and leaves the Hive, out into the stormy night.
>>

The Tunnelers finish expanding the Den, with a new capacity of ~250 Adults. In the process, they have unearthed 4 Flamestones and 8 shiny ore chunks. Wow!
~
The Nomads continue to worship their life-giving Mother and God. Rozooll's spirit is bolstered. And says she feels a little...different. What could that mean?
~
One of the Curious Ones produces a small, pointy object. He had stolen it (or maybe he flat out took it) from one of the Strangers during their visit.
Work towards weaponry will continue.
~
Next turn, the Tunnelers will start work on making sinkholes and pockets along the hive, to make the Hive more defensible.

The Curious Ones are tasked with further weapons developments. They are quickly able to replicate the object stolen from one of the Strangers.
Development!:
[Technology Unlocked: Daggers]
[Weaker and less range than spears, but can wedge even between Rozoollim carapace. It could probably just as easily hit weak points on other races...]
[1 shiny bar, 1 branch, 1 hide = 2 daggers]
~
Harvesting yields 7.9 Units of food.
~
A group of 10 Warriors, accompanied by a Scavenger are sent down The Tunnel. They'll be back soon...
~
The Queen lays a clutch of 10 eggs.
~
The previous clutch is fertilized by one of the older, stronger Warriors. Whether this makes the generation better, who knows?
~
The 9 larva grow into their shells. Of the 9:
4 are Tunnelers
1 is a Warrior
1 is a Nomad
2 are Scavengers
1 is a Curious One!
~
The Nomads are sent out to explore the surrounding desert. A few are sent Westward, to follow and locate the settlement where the Strangers hail from.
~
The young fruit trees in the Oasis have reached maturity. Food production is increased.
~
The Tunnelers toil in making alcoves and pockets in the Hive walls, for defensible positions. During this, 3 shiny ore chunks are found.

With that, my children, I will wrap up the story-part. For now. I'll hang out a little bit and shoot the breeze, answer questions, and participate in discussion for a while, or until the thread dies.
