“"A single sin can damn a soul.”

Those were the words a priest left you before he was hanged-with most of the village, in the in the tree of the middle of town. Guilty of consorting with vile magick, the witch hunters said, condemning many men and women to hang for reasons obscure.

The funny part is, the hunters were right.

They just got the wrong people.

As the moon hovered over that ghost town, and the witch-hunters took their leave, you opened up the book the priest told you never to open, and read words not meant for mortal man.

It took you 7 days read the book, and find its secrets. 7 weeks to gather to gather the items needed.

And 7 months to work up the nerve to do it.

Now, on the night of the new moon, you utter the ritual, offer the sacrifice, and light the candles.

You are a young man, and you just summoned the devil.

As the candlelight bursts into blazing flames, and the blood is hungrily devoured by the ground, you feel your hair go on end as unearthly sounds bounce through the room-shrieking, laughing, crying. The sound gets louder, and louder, with the flames growing hotter, and brighter…

Then it all stops, and you are left with a dark room, and nothing to show for it.

Then there’s a knock on the door.

Turning towards it, you:
>Open it.
>Tell them to go away.
>Ask who it is.
>>
Ask who it is.
>>
Tell them to go away
>>
"who...who's there?"
>>

>>

>>

>Ask who it is.

“Who...who's there?” You ask, cautiously stepping towards he door. If it’s a villager, you don’t want them to know. If it’s a witch hunter, you better run.

There is no answer, only a slow, steady knock.

You go towards the door, and attempt to peer at who it is. Whoever they are, their face is obscured by a hood, leaving only a vague impression of a younger face. It’s no villager, but not a witch hunter either.

Then lightning strikes, and for a brief moment, you see this stranger’s face.

A girl. Your age.

As you attempt to comprehend what is happening, you notice the knocking sounds continue, and the sounds of rain beginning to fall.

You speak again.

“Hello? Who are you? You don’t seem to be from around here.”

The girl tosses her hood back, showing white hair…

And black eyes.

“I’m Satan. Now, let me in.”

Her tone is neutral, and you can't tell whether it's a joke or something serious.

You:
>Let her in.
>Tell her to go away.
>ask where her horns and cloven feet are.”
>>
Well, now. Let her/it in and bring it to your sitting room.
We summoned her/it. No reason to not be polite with our guest.

>Let her in

You open the door, and she strides in, throwing off her wet cloak and collapsing into a nearby chair.
“Sorry for the disappointing entrance, but I haven’t gotten much sleep lately. I hope you don’t mind.”

Tossing her hair back and fixing it in a bun, you look at her. A lithe figure, cute face, and a demure dress do nothing to indicate this is the Dark Prince of the Underworld, eater of souls, or a variety of other things.

Except for her eyes. They are a cold black, save for a white pupil

As your glances meet, you awkwardly glance away, then stare at her again.

“What is it?” She asks, and her voice has almost a hint of concern. Before you can ask, she snaps her fingers.

“Oh. Right. Contract.”

The candle light dims, and a strong wind picks up outside, deafening you to the outside world. Screams and laughter fill the air in a terrible symphony. Gone is the beautiful girl, replaced an imposing figure in a hood, flaming horns sticking out.

“You, who has summoned me on this most unholy of nights-risks and calls a most terrible blight."

Her voice sounds like grating glass, and the pitch is pain to your eardrums.

“A bargain you have made, with blood you have paved, something you ask for, a price I crave.”

A red hand, dripping with blood and covered with scars and scabs extends towards you.

“Tell me what you want, anything you may say, and I shall accept, and take what I may.

You:
>Ask for revenge upon the witch-hunters

“wait, what?” The flames, wind, and figure drop down, leaving Satan staring at you incredulously in girl form.

“You heard me.”

“Oh, man…” she groans. “You let them see your true form one time…” She mutters.

“Look, it’s a long story, and not one I want to tell to someone like you. Now, what is it you wish for?"

“Why are you a girl?”

She groans again. “Alright, fine. You know how the world was created, right? Seven days, the garden, and all of that.”

You nod, and start to say something, but she raises up her hand.

“Don’t interrupt. It’ll take longer. See, that whole snake thing? That snake just wanted to learn more about the world. I, Satan, second-in-command to god, had to listen to its request, and I said yes. Then he wanted to know what the apple was, so he got God’s creations to eat, go demoted me to underworld manager, because apparently it’s my fault what the snake did with it. Now, the reason I am a girl, ks because the fellows who wrote the bible decided having a female lead hell wasn’t scary enough, so they changed it to a guy.”

She sighs, and looks at you, arms crossed.

“Now what is it you wanted?”

You shrug.

“Did you forget? Was it something about revenge? Power? Attraction?”

You shake your head. “Not really. I just wanted to see what would happen.”

“WWWHHAAATTT?” She yells.

“Don’t you realize I’m stuck here until we make a contract? Do you really want to be with the devil for the rest of your life?” She demands.

“What could go wrong?”

She stammers, then a hard look comes into her eye.

“Fine. Then I won’t tell you about what you need to do to save your town for the witch-hunters.” She turns away, her arms tightly cross

You:

>What do you want for breakfast?

She turns to you, an evil grin on her face.

“Don’t you want to know about the hunters?. Tomorrow, they shall burn this town. Unless, you corrupt the seven avatars of virtue in this town. Get them to commit the sin most grievous for them, and I shall grant you my powers to defeat the hunters. What do you say?”

“So, bread and cheese?” You say, ignoring her words.

She lets out a large groan, and collapses onto the bed.

“This is like talking to a stone wall.” She mutters, pulling the covers over herself.

“How about-“

“NO.” She interrupts, and with that, she ceases talking to you.

You shrug, and blow out the candles, finding a peaceful sleep despite her heavy omens.

The next morning, you wake up to a fire going, and the smell of food.

It’s Satan. Cooking breakfast.

As you walk over to the table, yawning a thank you, she glares.

“I didn't do this for you. I just didn't want t eat your swill, and I just happened to cook a little extra, is all.”

With a small hmph, she drops the pan on your table, and takes her food to the corner.

As you sit down and eat, you watch her flip through the ritual book, muttering to herself.

“Incantation of forced offering, summoning satan, ode of sleep…where did you find this book? It has all the rituals I’ve ever seen, and then some.

You shrug. “The village priest had it.”

“Interesting.” She says.

The conversation lapses, and you attempt to fill the silence.

“So, you have a nice dress. Who made it? The tormented souls of weavers, from the heartstrings of the accursed?”

“Very funny.” She snaps. “I did. It’s wool. From sheep. Normal sheep.” She says, before you make a bad joke.

As the churchbell rings, she looks outside.

“Seven hours.”

You ask:
“What? What does that mean?”
“Do you want to come to mass?”
“Can you stay here and not cause any trouble?”

She stiffens immediately, and her face turns red.

“Don’t you have something to do?”

You leave for mass, departing with one final remark. “"When I get back, let's go for a picnic. It's not every day I meet a pretty girl."
As you leave, she finds herself alone. She’s not sure what to say. This is the first time this has ever happened. She slaps her cheeks to try and shift her thoughts, but sits there unable to.

She mutters to herself.

“Seven souls. Seven hours. Seven items.”

She watches as you walk away.

“Will you save them, or sacrifice them?”

Meanwhile, you take breath of the fresh air outside. Ah, the village. The bastion of your life, your castle in the dirt. As you look around the circle, you admire the seven buildings. You and seven girls were all that was left after the hanging.

Callista, the nun from the Church, who leads the mass.
Tabitha, the gloomy mayor, who lives in the town office.
Cecilia, the weaver who works for others, spinning her wheel.
Dorothy, the blacksmith, forever pounding away in the forge.
Portia, the guard who stands watch in the tower.
Hannah, the archivist who looks over the town files.
Kaitlin, the farmer next door, who always provides for you.

Together, you all stayed in the ghost town, making it habitable once more. As the bell rings for mass, you watch as the day progresses as usual. Everyone, save for Dorothy, head to mass, laughing and cajoling with each other. You wave to them all, and:

>rush to the church door to open it for everyone.
>(Unsuccessfully) Try and convince Dorothy to come to mass
>Dig through the dead priest’s things, and try to find out about the book.

Alright, this is the plan.

We get all 7 girls and Satan, and we get the fuck out of here.

Found a new town with our 8 new wives and an abundance of fire buckets.

Method:

Go to church, and tell everyone that you'll be holding mass today, in the priest's unfortunate absence.

Then, with all the others in-tow, head to Dorothy's and try to talk her into coming to your house, might be an easier sale than church.

With everyone there, we tell them we know the witch hunters are going to pull some shit, and then we bail as a group, all 9 of us.

Rifle through priest's stuff/Convince Dorothy

As you meet them all, it’s a common sight. Tabitha trudging along in her grey robes, nervously fending off Cecilia’s energetic greetings and enthusiasm, Portia, carrying Hannah’s books as she obsessively pours over another, and Kaitlin, standing aside from the group, smiling happily. You walk to her her, and start up a conversation.

“Morning, Kate.”

“Morning, my friend.”

“Shall we try and convince Dorothy?”

“Always.”

The two of you walk over to the Forge, where Dorothy tirelessly hammers away at a piece of metal.

“Mass, Dorothy.”

“Not coming. Work to do.” Her sentences are short and terse as always, a familiar sight. You and Kaitlin jibe and jest at her, until, finally, the Bell rings, a final call for mass. Shrugging, the two of you head, to mass, where Callista begins the ceremony. As her voice squeaks out the virtues and goodness, you look around at the others, who encourage her, urging her to finish the mass despite her extreme nervousness. They won't miss you.

You decide to slip away, and rifle through the priest’s objects.

An hour passes by, and you have nothing to show for it. You're not even sure what you're looking for. You decide to:
>Slip back in for the ending of mass, and ask permission to keep on looking through.
>Keep on looking. Callista won’t mind.
>Go back to Satan after mass ends,
>>
>>25994139

You slip in for the end of mass, and shout encouragement at Callista to finish the ceremony. As she pours the wine, nervously twitching and stammering, the encouragement makes her close her eyes in concentration, and then…she gets it.

An impromptu applause springs up, and she curtsies embarrassedly. As the mass ends and crowd leaves, you stay behind.

“Good mass, Callista.”

She blushes and stammers nervously.

“Y-You t-too…” Her hand twitches, and she drops the bowl she was carrying. As both of you go down to pick it up, your hands touch.

For a moment, you feel the warmth.

Then she yanks her hand back, and hastily picks up the bowl.

“S-so, w-what c-can I help you with?”

You say:

>(Lie) I want to look through then old priest’s things. See if he left anything for us.

“A-alright.” She stammers. “J-just let me know if you need any help, okay?” She rushes off to the backroom, leading you alone in the church.

You head to the priest’s room, and start searching for something, anything, overturning musty books, and tattered robes. Then, you find it.

In his desk, the bottom of the drawer can be lifted up. As you pry it open, you find a weathered piece of parchment.

“A single sin can damn a soul. That is what the witch told me before we burned her at stake. It seemed to be an acknowledgement, a confession of the crime. But as I look back, I wonder. Was the phrase meant for her, or for me? Will I suffer because I burned a repenter? While the rules are clear, my heart is not. I have saved her book, that book of rituals. Perhaps, in here, I can find the answer. What is right? What is wrong?”

If there’s anything interesting in this room, this should be it.

“What are you doing?”

You turn. It’s Satan, leaning through a window.

“Trying to find something more about that book. This all intrigues me.”

“And why aren’t you living your life? There are only 5 hours left in it. Can’t you spend them wisely?

“It’s a bit of a waste, don’t you think?”

“Witch-Hunters in the distance!” Portia’s voice carries throughout the town, and you can feel the air grow still, and something shatter in the next room.

“Hold this.” You toss the note to Satan. “It may be some sort of clue about that book.”

You rush to the next room, where you see Callista hyperventilating on the floor. You yell out the window. ”How long till they arrive?”

You get a response back. "4 hours!" Portia yells.

As you pull Callista onto a chair, the door busts open.

It’s Kaitlin. As she stresses and fusses over Callista, you stand to the side awkwardly. There’s nothing to be done.

You clench your fist, and go back to where Satan was.

“Picnic? I did promise, after all.”

“Fine. Though, I suspect you have some questions you want to ask.”

Or, we make the picnic so nice that she'll kill the witch hunters for interrupting it.

I don't think you're really grasping the core concept of this picnic, friend.

It's a lovely day, it would be a shame to waste it not eating with 8 beautiful girls.
>>
>>25994929
Indeed so.

>>25994368
Why can't we romance Satan without changing her into your typical dumbshit girl?

It's picnic time.

>>25994856

You are struck by a thought.
You need to cheer everyone else up as well.

“Could you wait here, for a minute?”

“Why?” She asks.

"There’s other people in the village, too. We need to cheer them up, somehow."

You run back down to the village, and yell at the top of your lungs. “Picnic, in the pasture! Now!”

As everyone sticks their head out, You wave and point.

On top of the hill, you name everyone as they come up. Callista, Tabitha, Cecilia, Hannah, and Kaitlin. Dorothy refuses to move, and Portia is keeping an eye out back in the town.

The air is nervous, but everyone is doing the best to maintain their composure. You wonder why they aren’t noticing Satan, then you realse what she said earlier. She’s like a ghost. Only you can see their presence.

As they talk amongst themselves, Satan speaks.

“The Seven avatars.”

“Excuse me?”
>>
>>25994931
How do we make the 7 other girls forget about the Witch Hunters and their own impending and painful deaths?
>>
>>25995043
Yes, I know.
Although, this is just a meeting about how they're going to escape really.
>>
>>25995043

"Seven Virtues. Chastity. The nun, Callista. It’s why she shirked from your touch.
Tabitha. Temperance. She maintains her composure, a sober balance, keeping it in check.
Cecelia is charity. Watch. She brings so much food, but partakes in none of it. All she has goes straight to others.
Dorothy is diligence. She works at her forge endlessly, until her fingers are dust.
Portia is patience. Ever vigilant, she watches and waits, never turning angry or impatient.
Hannah is humility. In those books, she has learned so much, yet refuses to learn or boast about any of it.
Kaitlin is Kindness. She cares for all the others.”

She looks at you with a steady glance. “If you want to save them, you’ll have to make them break the virtue they embody through their own power. But…there is another way.”

“What are you doing? Join us!” Kaitlin tugs you into the circle, and you talk, attempting to cheer everyone up.

Small smiles meet you, but you can’t quite put the big smiles on their faces. Still, the picnic ends on a lighter note, and the group of you head back into town.

3 hours left until the world ends.
You:
>Try to get more information out of Satan.
>Help one of the other girls.
>Wait for the Witch Hunters to arrive
>>
>>25995056
>>Try to get more information out of Satan.
Well, what's that other way?
>>
>>25995056
>>Try to get more information out of Satan.
Guess we'll ask you, you tsuntsun bitchqueen.
>>
>>25995056
Woah, what the fuck, I was hoping for more out of this picnic.
>>
>>25995056
>>Help one of the other girls.
Do that first then at the picking do.
>>Try to get more information out of Satan.
>>
>>25995056
Well Ladies, I believe it's time for me to make up for my burden on your lives, in the next three hours you should all flee from the incoming with hunters, while I set up a diversion for then here.
>>
>>25995056
I have the sneaking suspicion we can save them all by burning for them. Might as well seek more information. Might be worth telling the girls what happened as well, or even telling them of the price you've been told (as well as that there is an alternate price)
After all, if they need to do that for power to be gained, it would seem them not doing so is also important.
>>
>>25995056
And the other way is?
Also do i need to ...break every one of them in order to save all if i dotn choose the other way?
>>
>>25995056
Gather them all at Dorothy's forge.

Tell them everything, tell them to flee, tell them you'll hold the town and provide time for them to get away.

Tell them to run as fast as they can.

Then go through the book for anything we can use to defend the town.
>>
>>25995056
>Try to get more information out of Satan.
We only have 3 hours, and breaking the Virtues of 7 girls isn't going to happen that quickly.
Let's see if we can enter a Contract.
>>
>>25995125
>>25995114
Gather all the girls at Dorothy's forge and make a contract with Satan to teleport them far away, to a safe place.

Then kiss Satan goodbye and hold the town alone.
>>
>>25995125

>>
>>25995068
>>25995073
>>25995086
>>25995097

Stepping behind the group, you wait until they are out of sight. Then, you turn to Satan.

“You said there was another way.”

She nods once. “There is another way to save them all. But, the price, I fear, is not one you would pay.”

“Tell me.”

“From here, the world splits into seven paths. If I split your soul, you can go on each one, and save one girl. But only one. Can you harden your heart, and chase only one, knowing it would damn the others?”

You consider her proposition carefully.

You could save each one.

But at the cost of the others.

“What’ll happen after all seven paths have been completed?” You ask, fearing the answer.

“I don’t know.” Her voice is honest, almost fearful.

You say:
>I’ll take it. A slim chance is better than none.
>There has to be another way.
>>
Guys, we should trust in our own powers and hope, trust in the girls powers and hope they escape.
>>
>>25995175
Hey, fuck you.

The picnic was a solid plan, but OP cheaped out and flashed by it without giving us a chance, thereby rendering the concept moot.

>>
>>25995187

>>
>>25995177

And that slim chance seems worse than the witch-hunters and attempting to flee and set up elsewhere.
>>
>>25995177

>>
>>25995125
As a matter of fact some are very very easy.

> Chastity. The nun, Callista
Do i even need to tell what we can do here?
rape ofc.

>Tabitha. Temperance

Let her see what we do to callista

>Cecelia is charity.
Burn her house

>Dorothy is diligence
Burn her forge and her creations with it

>Portia is patience
Send her as the sentry to watch for with hunters coming and do nothing

>Hannah is humility
Tell her only she can save the town with her superior mind and skills, and we cant do anything withot her, make her search for spells, rituals etc.

>Kaitlin is Kindness.
Give her a choice, she can either rape and torture callista or get raped by us

>>25995223

>>25995177

Okay lets do this, tell everyone the picnic is over for now and tell portia to watch for the witch hunters coming and tell her we will be planning something and never to leave her position without notice.

>
Tell her only she can save the town with her superior mind and skills, and we cant do anything withot her, make her search for spells, rituals etc.

After that is done tell callista and kaitlin that you may have found a way to save the town and lead them to the church basement.

Underneath that face lies a cruel, cruel heart. Go, then. Destry what they stand for, so you may save them. But, I wonder. How will you make them give it up, voluntarily?”

Satan’s face grows hard, and she snaps her fingers. Your body tingles momentarily.

“Here is where your grand plan begins. With each one you corrupt, so I shall grant you a taste of my powers for the next. Go. Now.”

Her fingers point towards the town, and you walk forward, determined.

“Go..and lose yourself in pursuit of the good…” she mutters.

She will be extremely sorry that she can't do anything for anyone else.

You must make her selfish to counteract Charity. Gluttony.

You must make Callista beg for the D. Lust.

You must make Tabitha argue for extremes. Wrath.

You must make Dorothy give no shits about her work. Sloth.

You must make Portia go Leeroy Jenkins.

Hannah's plan is fine.

Dunno about Caitlin.

I could be wrong about of them, theology is not my strong point.

As for self sacrificing, lol no.
It wont do anything , witch hunters will burn everything and they will catch the others easily because they will have horses.
>>
Weighs the same as a duck?
>>
>>25995577
Well, we are assuming they're here to burn the place on the testimony of someone with a title of prince of lies. That said, while there may be some deception, I suspect that the witchhunters may well be perfectly fine with just burning the place down, just in case.

>>25995583
And that's one of the reasons I said they should stay in the church

That hard glance. That boy who will destroy himself.

Something…something’s wrong.

Why do you feel this conflict?

You turn back to Satan…but she’s not there.

You are sitting on a mat, watching the others as they talk and converse.

Callistia. Tabitha. Cecelia. Kaitlin. Hannah.

Here…is where you wanted to be. Now, what was it you wanted to do?

>Sacrifice Self

How does a dead man, a self-condemned man at that, enjoy the last, blissful moments of his life?
He simply does.
You take a look at your friends.
Callista, whom you all have helped with her sermons.
Tabitha, whose gloominess you always tried to cheer up.
Cecelia, who has given all for the sake of others.
Dorothy, down below, who works endlessly to provide tools.
Portia, who waits, watching endlessly, even now.
Hannah, her nose always in the book.
Kaitlin, who was always there.
These, you are sure, are the memories you will take to the grave.
“I need to talk with you all.” You hear your voice absurdly calm.
“The witch hunters are coming.” They all are silent, knowing you speak the obvious.
Here it comes. The big step.
“I…want to save you all, no matter what it takes.”
Murmurs. Whispers.
“To that end, I want you all to flee. I will hold off the witch-hunters.”
Immediately, they each burst out, with a complaint or counter-argument, but you ignore it all.
“Please. This all I ask.”

The air is heavy with silence.

Then one nods, then the other.

The six of you descend into the village.

Portia reluctantly agrees, and Dorothy…well, you know her. The group tugs and coerces her, before finally settling on throwing the anvil and tools into a cart so that she may continue her work.

As they get in, planning on a route out, you pass each of them.

Callista gives you a small, formal hug.

Tabitha, is crying, and in her hug, smears you with tears.

Cecelia gives you a gentle kiss, a wordless message

Dorothy nods once, the break from her work the sign of your importance.

Portia gives you a firm handshake. “Go get them.”

Hannah hands you a book describing fortifications and weaponry. “I hope it helps you.”

Kaitlin smothers you in her embrace. It says what she cannot.

They all step into the cart, and you bid farewell.

Now, you sit in an empty town, with nothing but the blowing weeds for company.

She shakes her head.

“I cannot grant such a power to you, nor anyone. I t is far beyond my capabilities

“Then, what can you give me?”

“This.”

She waves her hand, and the spellbook comes to life, pages aflutter. Ode of sleep, rain of fire, all and more come alive, their energy carving bright red marks into the ground You can feel the magic sparkle and jump in the air, weaving and twisting. As the last ritual is set, the book turns into ash.

“My dear knight, you are ready.”

“Then, you must be my lady, might I ask for a token of affection, from a lady to a knight?”

Her face blushes, then she nods, once. She cranes her neck forward, giving you an awkward, if sincere peck on the cheek.

>"It doesn't matter, you don't need it. I'm already yours".

With those words, you confirm who you are, and why you are here.

At long last, the stage is set. The fallen angel, and her lone knight. God’s army and the force of the divine.

All the cards are set, the puppets , ready for their final dance.

Now, long last, is where it all shall collide.

Life, death, heaven and hell.

Perhaps, there is but one thing that we can be sure of.

This devil knight will fight to the bitter end.

As the moon falls, torches rise.

Tonight, the Witch Hunt will face what they have sought for so long.

The devil himself.

They ride on the town the accused of witch craft long ago, a town now glowing red.

They reach the town, and see naught but pure evil.

Satanic symbols adorn the walls, and the town reeks of death. The poison of the village encroaches them, dropping many.

But there are many more. For tonight, the witch hunters have brought enough to turn light to day with their torches.

As they charge forward, swords and armor glimmering, the horses and soldiers fall, their bodies consumed, and their spirits sucked out. Their sleep brings terrible nightmares, and their minds are devoured from the inside out.

These knights, who have never faced fear, now know what their victims faced. Even faced with the name of traitor and an execution, they turn tail
and run. Brother kills brother, and underneath that abominable spell, the army tears itself apart.

As the straggled remnants pull themselves together, they see him.

Seven feet tall, wielding a twisted spear and shield, a knight clad in black armor stands before them. The horns on his helm drip fire, and his very step corrupts the ground.

There you stand, the last guardian of this village. There stands the army.

Impossible odds.
You:

Lancer's Master was under the false assumption that the contract he signed would benefit him, as long as he ordered Lancer to commit suicide. So he entered a contract whose terms would largely benefit him completely, then upheld his end of the bargain.

And then he was sniped in the head and killed seconds after signing a contract saying that the other side of the contract would die if they killed Lancer's Master. lel exact terms in a contract.

>Charge into the fray.

The time for talking is done. All that is left is the bloody and bitter end. You pick up your spear.
Now.
You will damn yourself, and destroy your body to the core, so that others may live.

With a great and terrible roar, the knight throws himself into the lances waiting. His path carves a body path through the bodies, ripping and tearing, painting the canvas of the battlefield with a deep and bloody red. His spear pierces their holy wards, and his feet crush all who would oppose him.

Here, on the battlefield, a man finds both sin and salvation. As he spins his spear, all fall beneath him. Whatever these man stand for, whatever they hope to idealize, it falls beneath bloody steel. Now, they come to a realization that their victims had known long before.

Their God had forsaken them long ago.

Some turn and flee.

Others fight, hoping to redeem themselves.

There is no difference.

All shall fall.
>>
>>25996604
It's not like she could of, I dunno, intentionally mislead us into thinking she wasn't a slut. That's not something Satan would do. Nooooo.

Goddamn it I hate you.
>>
>>25996623
As you wade through the battlefield, swords and lance bite into your body.

The pain hurts. But it is not nearly enough. Lances impale your body, and it has become a pincushion for arrows. Swords stick out of you, and your body is
a mockery of a mere human’s.

But you gave up your humanity long ago. Nothing shall bring you down until your task has completed. You cannot stop. Not now, when your goal is so close at hand.

Dropping the spear that weighs you down, you crouch low. The pauldrons on your shoulders, dog with razor-sharp teeth, will be your weapons. Perhaps sensing your desire, they come to life, roaring and gnashing. You charge once more, ripping and tearing, your jaws as sharp as a thousand swords. The enemies fall like grain, and now...and now, as you sit upon a throne of corpses, you sit, king of the battlefield.

Not a single man will live to tell the tale. Not a single one shall go unpunished for his crimes. Now, they are safe.

Now…you….can…………………..rest.

Underneath a moon stained with blood, the devil knight, who has sinned for his salvation, dies.

He awakens ona grey sand, overlooking a grey sea. A voice speaks, both everywhere and nowhere

>Tell me, Knight. Was this what you wanted? To die, and your soul cast where not even the devil can take it? To wander that grey abyss forever and a day, alone? Surely, you must wish for something else. To be reunited with the seven you saved.

both options seem good yet bad.
the wandering forever might make us a ghost that can't interact with things.

meeting the seven might make us a monster that hunts them down.

Instead what we should wish for is to be reborn as the black knight, searching out Satan's worshipers and teaching them to love their lady, and forget their hatred. To fight those that murder in the name of a vengeful god. To prevent monsters like us fro ever existing again.

>Stay
You want to see the seven again.

How could you not?

You gave everything for them…and yet…you could not. To do so would forgive your sacrifice, and take away their safety. Surely, your task is done. You inform the spirit of you decision.

It chuckles. “Of course. You humans shall wish what you wish.”

A light breeze blows, and a message is whispered in your ear.
“If you should ever reconsider, all you need to do is ask.”

You sit, alone on the beach. Nothing but the sounds of waves, and sand.

You attempt to build a castle, or even a mound, but you can leave no traces behind. The waves erase all, and soon,
you content yourself with wandering, up and down the shore.

Then you hear it.

Sobbing noises. You run, wildly, and as it begins to rain, you run harder. You run, and run, only for the sobbing to stop.
It is replaced by another sob, like something else, and the rain flows faster.

It tastes like tears.

You sit, and consider your decision.

As if on cue, the spirit’s voice rings in the air.

“Undo your sacrifice, your past, and accept a new one. One, where she has no power, and cannot damn you or your friends. There, the seven of you can happily live, and and you might be able to save the eighth.

It takes you a moment to realize it is laughing.

“I am the keeper of the river Styx, and Judge of Souls. I am the arbitrator of Limbo, and one who follows your story very carefully.”

“Why?”

“Because I enjoy a good tale, and none interest me more than yours. You, who have cleaved morality in twain, and seeks the heart of the devil herself.”

"This, deal, what do you keep on offering it, and what did you mean by you might be able to save the eighth?”
The spirit nods.

"I figure you would ask. What I offer is another string, another twist, of destiny. For right now, you stand at several points. Your death on a throne of corpses. Your first attempt to summon Satan herself. At a picnic. All of these paths, which flow, in and out of existence. She spoke of seven paths. You showed her an Eighth. I tell you, ten exist. What is selfishness? What is selflessness? You stand in the sands in Limbo, unable to ascend, unable to descend. Cast out of heaven, an unable to reach hell, here you wait, a specter in forgotten sands. This spirit tells you the honest truth. You are stuck in this beach, from now, until eternity. Was it worth it? Only you can decide.

Their happiness for their lives. Yes, you have saved them, and you will not lose what you fought so hard for. All the opposite sides. Can you risk a death for yourself? Surely, it will not end well.

Here it is, at the end.

You are happy.

They, who are alive, are not. But they are safe.

Happiness for safety.

Indeed, it is not perfect. But neither is anyone.

Here, in the sands, your tale ends. A selfless knight.

A selfish knight.

Here he waits, patiently,

Eternally.

Alone.

We could have carried on in dozens of ways, but nope, "endless sand, can't do shit about it, sorry mate."

Fuck.
>>
>>25997520
...
WE COULD HAVE CARRIED ON BY ACCEPTING THE CHOICE WE WERE OFFERED.
He brought us to purgatory, yes, but therein he gave us a chance to redo what we worked four hours for to get the good end.
We decided not to do it.
If we had redone it, we

maybe
wouldn't have ended up where we did!

You waited on the beach. Waited as the tears of rain fell over your body. Waited as you were turned to dust. Waited until you had forgotten even your own face. Then, you waited some more.

Several eternities past, then something new. Memories struggle to come together, and you remember the words 'walking' and 'sand.' Something that is not the master of limbo has come. As if on cue, the winds blow, and you find yourself alight.

A person.

as the master offers him a deal, you remember one offered to you long ago.

Is it too late to answer?

Of course not. The breeze flows, and you hear the words.

“If you should ever reconsider, all you need to do is ask.”

stuff. However, I am seeing a large amount of resistance for this. My idea of the finale was this. That fight for the final happy ending-the best one. The ending you have right now leaves the people who loved you missing you, and you are gone. If that is what you want, fine. If you want me to write some better happy ending, fine. I thought this would be more entertaining, but I want to give you the ending you want. So tell me. We can make whatever you want happen.

>>
>>25997824
Why are the others unhappy anyway? Seems like it came out of nowhere.

Sure, they'll be sad that someone gave their life for them, but they'll come to terms with it in time, and that's what we bought them after all, time.
>>
>>25997806
.... But that's not how this particular cosmology works. We know this isn't how this particular cosmology works, the QM has explicitly told us this over and over again and some people are still going "Just dig! Dig in the plane of endless sand! It has to work eventually, right?"

This, we earn our glory and our defeat. If we pick the worst outcome, make sure we get the worst ending. It means nothing at all if you just give us the good end epilogue.

On a side note, the inclusion of the word "waifu" in the title, though appropriate, may have given some questers the wrong idea about the pacing of this story (did not expect shit to hit the fan quite so immediately). Seven days might have been a better period leading up to the hunters arrival than the roughly fifteen hours from the time of summoning that we had...

It's a plane.

Giving away your soul means you get sent there, but an entity exists for the sole fucking purpose of ferrying to heaven and hell.

I'm pretty sure limbo exists as a holding tank for the souls that are disqualified from entering heaven, hell or purgatory. The only reason the ferryman can go there is because his job includes depositing souls in limbo (no, they can never find or interact with each other, that's a feature of limbo). Any angel of rank could get here and get us out though, so maybe you should start praying? Worked well enough for the hunters.
