Evening gentlemen, it's that time again! That's right /tg/, I am returned! After my abrupt exit at the end of the last thread I'm glad to see someone diligently archived the thread. All previous thread here:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Children%20of%20the%20Mountain

When we left off, there was a serious debate over the grievous insult offered to Gronk by the Dwarves. Not only have they killed two trolls, not only have they stolen his gold, but they skinned his trolls and made Tak-Tak wear the skins as a cloak. The debate ended with a vote for training magic and melee. I'm going to have to ask that the vote be recounted however.

Most recent update incoming.

After the night of the crippling, many humans died from blood loss. Still more died later from infection, when their wounds went green and they began to refuse food. Some survived, their wills sharpened by the pain. When they looked at Gronk, he could feel their hate. It was so strong it was almost palatable. In his hind brain, he knew that they would die to kill him, making them a risk. On the other hand, such strength of feeling was hard to create, and would be a powerful weapon if it could be used.

Gronk spent more and more time in conference with his new goblin ‘friend’. He had dubbed him ’Tink-Tank’, and promised to make him chief over all the slaves if he could deliver all he said. It did not escape Gronk’s notice that he had made the same promise to Tak-Tak. He knew that the little scribe’s usefulness had almost come to an end. If he returned with the axes, it might be time for him to have a little accident. Gronk also questioned him about creating a forge, smithy and furnace. The answers did not please him. The goblin didn’t know how to build a forge, and it was a precise art. The heat had to be exactly right, and alterable when the smith choose. This required precise measurements and an attention to detail that Gronk knew he did not have. The rest of Gronk’s days were spent honing his magics, particularly his projections. He knew that a giant flaming troll would inspire fear in the heart of any enemy, a weapon that was just as useful as his new axe.

On a night full of snow and sleet, Tak-Tak returned. He was hardly recognisable and wrapped in a material that Gronk knew was familiar but couldn’t quite place. Although he seemed unhurt, the little creature shook and shivered even when next to a roaring fire. His eyes portrayed a hunted feeling, and he stared at shadows. When at last he was persuaded to talk, his tale was a harrowing one. When he and his troll accomplices approached the dwarven mine, they had been allowed all the way to the front gate. They had arrived and waited, being sure that the dwarves had look outs. After some time, the gates had opened and a small group of dwarves had come out. As they approached, Tak-Tak had walked forward to meet them. Only that had saved him from the fate that befell the trolls. He had gone a few steps when something whooshed over his head. Spinning around, he saw both trolls fall the floor and heard their screams. On his other side, he heard a mighty war cry. When he turned, the dwarves were charging. On their way paced, on punched him in the face. He fell to the ground and didn’t rise.

When he awoke, the little goblin found himself in a pitch black room. It was cold and wet, with a little slit of light coming from a grating in the door. After some hours of this dank, dark prison, a dwarf dragged him out. He was thrown from the gate and told to go back to the temple with a message. The message was this; Trolls shouldn’t try to make deals, they’re not smart enough. We’ll keep the gold, and won’t slaughter you in exchange. When Tak-Tak said he’d freeze before he made it back, the dwarves laughed. A cloak was thrown to him, one that was obviously newly made. It was then that Gronk realised what Tak-Tak was wearing. It was troll fur.

`tis wat I`m thinking to. If we get some reports from our raiding/scoutparty soon I would like to take the hoomietown ASAP. If we remove them, it seems the dorfs are the last enemies in our vicinity(that we know about) maybe we wont have to fight on multiple fronts(fingers crossed)
If we remove these threats we will be given an opportunity to build, train and grow before we continue with raping the world

The news of the envoy’s execution sent a shockwave of doubt throughout the Children. Those trolls had been sent to deal with the little humans had been denied a proper death, allowed only to be slaughtered like animals. And whose order had sent them there? Gronk’s. The Marked one was still their chief, and the chosen of the mountains to boot, but now he seemed a bit less... infallible. Orders were greeted with sullen grunts and carried out without the usual enthusiasm and speed. Gronk knew that he would have to avenge their deaths and the insult soon, or the doubt would set in still further.

To regain the discipline that now seemed lacking, Gronk ordered his trolls to train themselves for the coming war. Axes were handed out and some fire returned to the troll’s motions. With weapons in their hands, they seemed far more willing to obey their lord and master. Bloodlust kept them in line, but would likely turn them into a chaotic rabble in a battle. Again, Gronk was sure he needed to do something. The goblin slaves spent the days practising with their stick throwers, peppering the local trees with bolt after bolt. While not much more than a nuisance to a troll, they would be completely deadly to a dwarf. The goblins also practised rank firing and forming spear blocks.

ok, we need to keep the children busy. we should either go for the humans first, or come up with a clever plan to get the dorfs out of the mountain. not sure it is smart to charge into their fortress... tunnels are prob to small for us trolls.
maybe we should start harassing their aboveground resources and huntingparties, if they have any

Disobedience? UNACCETAPBLE! Is worship-praise time! Demonstrate our mighty powers! Shape stone and fire together, make molten rock-lava. Dumb-fools will love us again. As we do so, talk about how we'll treat every dwarf-thing that we don't eat to a warm-hot dirtbath.

Keep eye on ragnar as we do so, and have Moruk whip up the others into a frenzy. Which reminds this one, Moruk-son is our favored yes-yes? He will be our heir if we die-lose?
>>
>>25994343
C: scout towards Moruk's location and see where the runner you sent to dwarves are.

tell men we go in this war with full force, no troll will be denied this oppurtinity to smash dorfs and avenge blood.

>>25994377
I don't know if anyone remembers, but I mentioned when you first scouted their territory that there are two entrances. The big gate and a small door further up the mountain. The small door isn't big enough for a troll, but is for a goblin.

Crappy ones but better than nothing.
>>
>>25994553

Right. We'll send out a decent sized pack of trolls to capture and interrogate dwarves, and to find evidence of what happened to the last guys sent out.

Apart from that, we should keep training melee to keep everyone distracted. And make sure everyone knows that war is imminent.
>>

It has been previously discovered that a smithy, tools and a forge are required to build any new weapons or armour. The two locations that have such things are Märlas, the human city, and the dwarf mine.
>>
by the way, we send moruk to pillage towns and he's been gone quite awhile. i kinda half expect him to turn up and tell us there is a huge army coming after him in three days.
or be a leveled up badass with more badass goblins loyal to him.
>>
>>25994701

I wouldn't be surprised by either. If this dwarf war goes badly I wouldn't be surprised if he usurped us too.
>>
>>25994343
I don't think we can attack the humans right now, even if there's a forge in it for us.
The trolls wont understand and consider the move a sign of fear toward the Dwarves.

Can we produce lava? if so I have some ideas for what we could do (some of which can be done at the same time)

1. Send Gronk and Ragnar and several gobos and trolls to melt the front gate with lava. Kill those that come to stop it, with more lava
2. Send Moruk with some Gobos and Trolls top side of the mountain to destroy any minor settlements he finds.
3. set up a trap outside the "small door". We'll send in the Gobos to stir some stuff up and lead the dwarves out to us. Then we kill em all.

It response to the discontent in the tribe, Gronk roared that every bearded mountain rat would pay a thousand fold for the deaths and the insult. His first action was to dispatch a raiding party, composed of Moruk’s best trackers, to search the dwarven territory for a few prisoners to interrogate. He as soon as they had a prisoner or two, the trolls were to return. If they located the runner as well, so much the better.

Some hours before they left, Moruk burst through the doors of the temple with the runner sent to contact him and most of the goblins dispatched with him. After he had been informed of recent events, he was filled with the same rage that coursed through Gronk’s veins. Once again, Gronk was reminded how much Moruk looked up to him, as the cunning one didn’t speak one word of doubt or reprimand. His only speech concerned avenging their losses and restoring the tribe’s pride. With him, Moruk brought food, wood, cloth, sheep and rope. None of the resources were particularly exciting, but after being recalled early it was impressive he had as much as he did. He also brought two humans captured while travelling from the city. He had lost two goblins during the raids and and had left their bodies as instructed.
>>
>>25994780
no, we are not at a level to produce lava, we cant do much with earth really, if we combine with ragnar maybe, but we would probably need a turn training magic to find out.
i suggested creating blasting rockballs with our magic before, kinda like small meteors, and they would probably be more within our power range.i still think thats a good idea.

send him with the party. also tell them to prefer not to get into a big settlement, catch some traveling to/from the mountain maybe, or some out hunting, or a small settlement if they find one.

D:research magic, combine our superior fire magic and ragnar's superior earth magic.
rest of the tribe and slaves keep training.
>>
>>25994812
maybe our gobbelins should play a major part in this dorf-fight, send all of them into the mountain, as incentive they could purrhaps be allowed to claim the dorf stronghold as their home.(a bit over the top, I know. just brainstorming here) especially if the tunnels there are to big for us. they could mine and craft weapons/armor for us, and keep the dorfs-slaves in check.

Gronk must lead this attack, the glory must be his to restore the tribe`s faith in him.
Moruk can join, but not have an important role

>research magic
>>
>>25994812
Lets go ahead and arms every troll, if fully armed then defer to melee training. (I'm assuming we lost some weapons on the goblin raid)
>>
>>25994854
Scouting in previous threads has revealed that the dwarves seem not to hunt, as their above ground territory is rife with animals. Their above ground territory is almost empty of activity, except for when they come out and dump spoil there. If Moruk leads the war/scouting party then they will act with more initiative.
>>
>>25994914
moruk proved his worth so far.. let him lead the party, tell him you trust him not get caught or killed and put more shame on you and the tribe. that should prevent him from rushing to his death.

a good warrior and a god are far too apart. its no help being paranoid when he literally worships us.

After Moruk and his escort left, Gronk decided it was time to remind his tribe who had defeated the flame and bent it to his will. He spent a full day twisting pillars of fire around the interior of the temple, sometimes having them engulf a particular troll only for them for appear unharmed a few moments later. Gronk had such complete control of his flame that he was easily able to make it harmful to some, merely warm to other and intangible to still more. Some of the humans were roasted in a ritualistic fashion, acting as one of the first cooked meals the trolls ever ate as a tribe. It was glorious.

Moruk returned within less than a fortnight, with two still wriggling dwarfs clutched in his claws. The bearded little rats proved very susceptible to being held above a roaring fire. They quickly squealed that the small door high in the mountain leads to an abandoned shaft, long since stripped of all valuable resources. They said that it was a quick route from there to the gate, and was unlikely to be guarded. However, the gate would be. It was over watched by five dwarves at all time, two to watch and three to man the ballista. It had been the ballista that had brought down the bull trolls, as it was geared to fire two bolts at once. It could fire unseen from the shadows once the gate was open, but took a long time to reload. Threats from inside the mine were unheard of, so there was little to no patrols inside. When Moruk asked them if they’d be missed, they said that a search party would already be on the way. When Gronk dug a claw into one’s leg, they changed their tune. They had been dispatched to Märlas to see if there had been any news of trolls there. They also related that the threat of trolls was being treated as a joke inside the mine, people pretending to see trolls around every corner.

If they realize and they probably do realize that the invading trolls would go through the abandoned shaft and right before they get there they'll collapse it on us. It smells too much like a trap to me.

If we go through the front it won't be so bad we do this. We break down the door and let a troll take the ballista bolts. We drag the injured troll back outside to heal himself then we fucking pepper the inside with stick throwers and we rush in with the trolls
>>
>>25995510
Slowly, in front of his other prisoner, in the most gruesome way possible.
>>
>>25995488
great news, great indeed..
time to run to blood and war.

>F: War (specify who/how/where)
we should probably discuss tactics after the option is voted?
>>

It's been mentioned numerous times that the abandoned mine shaft is too small for trolls. Only goblins can fit through it. Otherwise, all viable.

>>
>>25995492

Eating them would be good for troop moral, and it sounds like we've gotten all the information we need anyway. Did they know the exact location of the ballista? If they do we should learn that first.

A: Gather wood for burning inside the dwarf home.
F. War. Goblins sneaking in and causing chaos, opening the gate if possible. Then the trolls rush in.
>>
>>25995574
second option,
train melee for trolls and formation for goblins.(to be more effective at fighting both close and long range.also untrained prisoners have a better chance of putting up a decent fight with a good formation.)we should give some of the moruk's soldiers the command of the formation.

>>
>>25995492
Magic-practice yes-yes. Tunnels are tight, narrow. Good place to send great jet-blasts of flame. Practice this, with Ragnar performing practice on making big stone-rocks roll 'round corners to crush-smash. Flame and stone will clear our way in the mines, so that no dwarf-meat can stand before our trolls!

Also, we must prepare our home. We are too vulnerable here. We live in big cave yes-yes? We need to wall off entrance, with big gate. Another wall beyond that, for nice open area for goblins and goats. Secondary wall can be our first defence, and if it falls everyone goes into the cave. Yes-yes, is good plan for future. We WILL be attacked someday, so we must plan-plan
>>
>>25995713
We live in a temple building with a door, though not a terribly strong one.

Can I remind everyone that we can choose two actions, and that you must specify how you wish to go to war.
>>
>>25995710
gobbelins are expendable, send one third of them in the small entrance, let one third wait there as backup with sum trolls.
last third comes with our mainforce to the large door
>>
>>25995756

send a select troop of goblins through the small gate to destroy that ballista. give them a reasonable amount of time to do it (1 hour? depends on the distance etc. really) while trolls wait, when the time is up, charge.
hopefully goblins will be successful, but even if not, we'll be ready for the ballista.we have a lot of metal shields and stuff that we cant really use. use gronk's fire to melt them into a big, about troll sized ?shield?.it doesnt need to be pretty. have ragnar cover it with stone to keep it together and add handles.a strong troll will go through the door first holding this, it probably wont stop ballista from hurting him but it'll keep from dying and he'll be back up again in a few minutes.

ragnar opens the gate, shielded one takes the ballista shot, after him tribe and then slaves rush through the door.

once inside first job to destroy the tunnels while wrecking havock.dorfs will be stuck in their tunnels and once we clear the rest, we can regenarate and deal with the trapped ones as we see fit.
>>
>>25995844
The metal shield is viable, but will hardly slow a ballista bolt down.

>>25995756

How many goblins can we bring-send? Can we trust slave goblins to fight? Send twelve loyal goblins and two trolls to back entrance. Everyone else, with us. Oh, and kill-eat humans before attack for big feast. Yes-yes.. Am supporting this while giving a bit more detail>>25995756 Yes-yes

We leave three trolls and six trusted goblins back at home. What is home's name? Does home have name? We should name home Me think name should be Castle-Den. Strong but homely, yes-yes
>>
>>25995980
You specified using lots of the metal to make a shield as well. That's a fairly significant detail.

>>25995986
That's a point. Are the prisoners being sent in?
>>
>>25996003
Prisoners can prove themselves in death. Any that survive will be strongest, will be useful. Prisoner-meat dying is good, seperate the strong from the weak. Prisoners-meat will be in front ranks, like in any good skaven army
>>
>>25995844
I like the shield.

I think we should send in the goblins through the side door to create chaos (the dont need to destroy the Ballista just distract the users). Once they've done that (and lets give em a half-hour to do so, an hour gives the dwarves to long to call for reinforcements) have Ragnar bust the gate open with a boulder and let the Trolls enter the mine.
From there we find a choke point and simple roast any dwarves that come out, meanwhile Moruk will run raiding parties to take out any minor settlements and find any escape routes.
The dwarves will die or surrender and we'll take the mountain.
Done.
>>
>>25996023
Good enough for me. By the way, the moutain that the temple is on is called God Eata. Might help with finding a name.
>>
When he deemed the dwarves squeezed of all their useful information, he decided to show the tribe what was coming to all the mountain rats. Taking the larger of the two creatures, he dangled it above his fanged maw. After letting it wriggle and shriek for a few moments, he let it go. As it landed, its shrill was cut off by a crunching, splattering sound. The other dwarf looked on in terror, his eyes widening as Gronk gestured towards him with a growl. His surprise was cut off when Moruk tore his head off and tossed his body to the blood hungry tribe. When both carcasses had been completely devoured, Moruk, Ragnar and the tribe looked to Gronk. The marked one lifted himself to his feet, facing the fleshless side of his face to his audience. As he straightened, he drew in a deep breath. Then he let it out in a roar of hatred that let them all know what was to happen; it was time for war.

Gronk spent a little time debating on whether a few bulls should be left with the humans, but decided that the females could easily handle a few hobbled manlings. All of the goblins, excepting females, were forced to march at troll pace towards the dwarves’ mountain. All of the slaves were armed with stick throwers and spears, while Moruk’s chosen dozen bore swords as well. The slaves had been given clubs, knives and stick throwers, but no bolts. Moruk scouted ahead with a few trolls to assure that the army was not detected before they reached the mine. As the group approached foot hills, Gronk split the goblins into two divisions. Moruk’s chosen would lead the prisoners in via the abandoned shaft, aiming to destroy or disable the ballista and kill any guards at the gate. They would have one hour to complete their mission, to be determined by a strange device that Ragnar owned. Once the time was up, the trolls and the rest of the goblins were to charge the gate. If all went to plan, it could be unbarred from inside.

>Cont.

>>25996275
If not, Ragnar would destroy it with his magic. If he failed as well, Gronk would eat him and use his flame to destroy the gate himself.

here comes another epic war tale, nice.
i'll go take a shower and be back to catch up to it.
>>
Moruk went with them to the abandoned shaft, before returning to stand by Gronk. Ragnar’s device was a sort of bulb of shiny air, which sand flowed through. He said that when the sand stopped flowing, it would be time. As they waited, Ragnar and Moruk twitched ad paced, often checking the metal shield that Grenfar, the bull troll selected to lead the charge, was carrying. It had taken half the weapons looted from the encampment to make, and it didn’t look pretty. It was blotchy and thin in some places, but thick and rumpled in other. Ragnar and Gronk had worked at it with their magic, but it hardly looked like something that would stop anything that could fell a troll. Partly, it was there to protect Grenfar. Mostly though, it was to make sure he didn’t think he was being mindlessly sent to his death. While the others could hardly contain their anxiety and battle lust, Gronk stood stock still. His eyes were fixed on the ridge that hid them from the gates. Drifts of snow played across its surface, twisted and tugged by the wind. When Ragnar gave the word, he shifted his piercing gaze to Grenfar. The troll shouldered his burned, rolled his neck and set off. They began at a jog, moving up the pace to a slow run. In the middle, the goblins ran flat out through the knee deep snow to avoid being crushed under the trolls.
>>
>>25996472
As they neared the gate, they saw that it stood ajar. Several corpses had tumbled out and blood stained the snow. Gronk’s sharp ears picked up the clang of metal on metal, and his nose the sharp tang of adrenaline. Things were looking up. With the gate a little open and a battle in progress already, the dwarves were unlikely to be able to fire their weapon. He roared, which seemed to signal a release from all the trolls. As they closed the last few dozen metres, a terrifying cacophony of bestial sound filled the cold air. Grenfar reached the gate and started to push the gate open. As he heaved, more of the scene inside became apparent. In a circle around the gate were the goblins, slowly being pushed back by a line of armour clad dwarves. In the shadows near the ceiling, Gronk thought he could see the flash of metal there as well. It seemed that both gate and ballista were embattled. When he reached the gate, he shoved Grenfar inside and started to push it himself. Just like everything else he had ever encountered, it bowed before him. With one gate open, the trolls could enter.

>Continued in a minute or two

It worked. We weren't lured into a trap and all killed. I'm a little surprised, but so very very happy.
>>
>>25996512
Never under estimate the arrogance of a powerful opponent. There was a couple of shaky moments in the discussion, but you pulled through,
>>
With their Big Papa leading them, the trolls hit the dwarves like a storm. Gronk cleared the goblins with a single mighty bound, landing with a crash on top of the centre of the dwarves battle line. His great axe flashed left and right, each sweep passing clean through bodies, limbs and heads. Once the bull trolls hit the line, this little skirmish for the gate was over. Some dwarves attempted to stand against the tide of fur and hate, but most simply ran. They didn’t get far, as the goblin slaves had taken up position on the ballista platform. A hail of bolts destroyed the fleeing rats, leaving at least two score dwarves dead for not a single troll life. There were a few goblins broken on the ground, but what was that against such a victory? Quickly gathering his bull trolls, Gronk set off deeper into the mine. After only a few moments, he reached a cross roads. To his left was a broad tunnel light with many torches and decorated with helmet like mounts. On his right was a narrower tunnel with less lighting, but the smell of dwarves wafted more strongly from it. It came from both tunnels, but with more potency from this one.

Who should go where? Specify in post.

Ragnar is going to be a big thing in these tunnels. Earth magics can be devastating when everyone is surrounded by stone. Gronk gave out his instructions quickly, eager to keep his opponents on the back foot. He sent Moruk with a few of the older, less easily impressed bulls down the left path, while leading all but two of the others down the right. The entirety of the goblins followed Moruk, while Ragnar was left to guard the cross roads with the last two bulls. Moruk looked like the very image of a warrior troll, his claws drenched in blood and his eyes glazed over with battle lust. He kept enough of a grip on himself to acknowledge his orders, before setting off down his designated tunnel. Ragnar looked less pleased with his role, though he hid it well.

With a quick gesture, Gronk wreathed his axe in ethereal fire and set off. The younger trolls took to chanting his name as they moved, as though it was a mantra to bring victory. They pounded along the tunnel, each troll detecting the scent of their enemies but being unable to see a single one. After a few hundred metres, the tunnel levelled out from the slope and lead to thick door inlaid with an iron grill. With a contemptuous roar, Gronk kicked the door down. Nothing would stand in the way of his vengeance!

Inside was a tableau of preparation. The room was full of arms and armour, and dwarves frantically getting themselves ready for battle. As the dust cleared from the fallen door, Gronk saw several dwarves helping a grey bearded little mountain rat into a particularly shiny and ornate suit of armour. Everything in the room had frozen when Gronk levelled the door, and you could have heard a pin drop. Suddenly, a dwarf moved for a rack of stick throwers on one wall. In a surreal motion, all eyes followed his movement. He snatched one up, aimed at Gronk’s head and fired. The bolt slammed into Gronk cheek, on the fleshy side of his face. All eyes in the room were fixed upon the quivering piece of wood and metal. Slowly and deliberately, Gronk reached up, yanked it out and snapped it in half. As the two halves of the bolt hit the floor, everyone moved at the same time. Some dwarves grabbed weapons, some armour. Several tried to run, but found nowhere to run to. The grey beard pushed away his attendants, leaving his breast plate unfastened. He hefted a golden hammer in both hands and moved towards Gronk with the manner of a champion. For a moment, Gronk was perplexed. Did this little thing that smelled of age, rot and defeat really mean to fight him? Surely not. But then Gronk sensed something from the hammer. It gave off a sublte tang of magic, as though a thunder storm had been forced into it’s metallic frame and was trying to get out. That hammer was worse than fire to a troll, realised Gronk.

Should Gronk fight fair and square, or smother the grey beard in flames?

FLAME ON
>>
Gronk narrowed his eyes before thrusting one fist forward and pushing a word out from between clenched teeth. Fire issued straight from his fist towards the grey beard. Around him, the trolls spilled into the weapon room. They hacked down dwarves as the struggled to arm themselves to resist, making what could have been a battle into a one sided slaughter. But as the fire engulfed the grey beard, Gronk heard a chuckle. Suddenly his flames died in his hand and he saw the dwarf striding forwards. He had a sneer on his face and the hammer was spinning in his gauntleted hands. Once again, Gronk tried to summon his fire and once again it died in his fist. Gronk narrowed his eyes and glared at the oncoming little thing. Even without his magic, he was still Gronk. He would show this old one who was the mountain’s chosen son.

Both combatants stepped forward to bring their weapons in front of their bodies. Gronk instinctively knew that he couldn’t let that hammer strike him, but was still confident in his chances. He was two metres and a half taller than his rival, and clearly much stronger. When he brought his axe down, he half expected is blow to knock the dwarf from his feet. He was therefore surprised when the dwarfs parried without apparent effort and span the hammer in a backhand flick to connect with Gronk’s leg. If the marked one wasn’t so quick, the duel would have ended then. Clearly this dwarf was more than he looked, somehow powered by magic. Gronk switched tack, backing off a few steps. The dwarf gave a predator like grin and advanced, only to be hit in the face with a rack of weapons. Gronk reasoned that this would distracts him enough for a follow up blow, and was rewarded when his axe struck the dwarf’s shoulder. There was a shriek of metal on metal and the dwarf fell to one knee. When Gronk looked however, it was his axe and not the armour that had been damaged in the collision.

>>
So the dwarf had a magic hammer and magic armour? All the better for when he was dead. As the dwarf rose to his feet, Gronk kicked him in the chest. Although the magic seemed to stop the impact from damaging the dwarf, the force sent him flying across the room. Gronk made a quick survey of the room, and saw that the battle was done. The dwarves that had filled this room not moments ago were now plastered across the floor and walls in little pieces. Many of the bulls had already started feasting, but the smarter ones were watching the golden dwarf. He was old and struggled to rise, but seemed completely unfazed by being thrown across the room. However, Gronk could see that the strap of his breast plate was still undone, providing a gap in his armour. Moving fast, the Big Papa hit him with another of the wooden weapon racks, sending the grey beard tottering back. Dropping his axe, Gronk lunged forward and plunged his knife into the dwarf’s side. He drew back just as fast, wary of the glittering hammer. The dwarf slumped against the wall, one hand pressed against his wound. He seemed to be muttering something to himself, and Gronk realised what only a second soon enough.

Even as Gronk hurled himself sideways, a bolt of blue energy arced from the dying grey beard’s fingertips and struck a troll’s shoulder. That troll howled in pain and dropped to the floor, but it was a look of defeat that passed across the old dwarf’s face just before his eyes closed. He’d missed the chief. Gronk straightened up, and saw that both the troll that had been struck and the grey beard were dead. As he glanced across the room, he saw his trolls all staring at him, waiting for his next move.

Gronk decided that Moruk and Ragnar could hold their own for a while. It was time for Gronk to live up to the title ‘devourer’. He slipped two claws underneath the golden plate and pulled it up until its remaining straps split. With the bothersome armour out the way, Gronk tore the meat from the shell and began to devour it. The process was messy and sent chunks of meat and gore all over the surrounding area, as well as Gronk’s chest and face, but the tough dwarf meat was hard separate cleanly. It clung together it a fashion reminiscent of troll meat, though with less muscle. This dwarf must have been centuries old to have developed such a rich blood, and Gronk could taste the magic on his tongue. That blue energy had been... effective. He would look forward to wielding it.

All around him, those trolls not already eating began their own feasts. Although it had not been much of a challenge to destroy half readied dwarfs in an enclosed space, the tribe all felt that this had been a victory. They had killed some sort of champion and captured many weapons, this alone was reason enough to feast. For a troll, reasons to feast are never hard to find.

Al right guys, that's it for the night. Hopefully I'll see you all in two days for the next thread. I'll archive this then head off.

Vote them up if you liked them, it's my personal ambition to have thread one get to epic status.

Good game guys, I set a couple of pit falls but you dodged them all. Close run with the dwarf. See you in two days.

another epic night. i wish we had a few more updates.

when the quest is finished(hopefully not anytime soon), you should write up an epilogue where "Gronk the Marked, The Great Devourer, Ash-Eyes..." is worshipped as a god of war through out the continent.

See you then. Great session.

I have something in mind for the epilogue, but I agree. I hope this has the interest to go on for a long while.
