Evening fat/tg/uys, sorry I'm late. Had some real life issues, that stuff is cutting down on my /tg/ time! Anyhow, let's crack on. Previous threads are here:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Children%20of%20the%20Mountain

Last thread left us deep in the dwarf mines after winning a victory over some form of enemy champion. He had a magic hammer and magic armour to match. Most recent update and choices coming.

Gronk decided that Moruk and Ragnar could hold their own for a while. It was time for Gronk to live up to the title ‘devourer’. He slipped two claws underneath the golden plate and pulled it up until its remaining straps split. With the bothersome armour out the way, Gronk tore the meat from the shell and began to devour it. The process was messy and sent chunks of meat and gore all over the surrounding area, as well as Gronk’s chest and face, but the tough dwarf meat was hard separate cleanly. It clung together it a fashion reminiscent of troll meat, though with less muscle. This dwarf must have been centuries old to have developed such a rich blood, and Gronk could taste the magic on his tongue. That blue energy had been... effective. He would look forward to wielding it.

All around him, those trolls not already eating began their own feasts. Although it had not been much of a challenge to destroy half readied dwarfs in an enclosed space, the tribe all felt that this had been a victory. They had killed some sort of champion and captured many weapons, this alone was reason enough to feast. For a troll, reasons to feast are never hard to find.

Hurry-scurry to our best-favoured son and ragnar. If we are in luck, the old fool is dead and we can share his corpse with Moruk to gain-learn his magic. Also, hurry-grab the shiny weapon.

When we see any remaining dwarfs, hold-stop the trolls. We need the dwarfs as slaves.

Also, hello OP

When the grey bearded ex-dwarf was a bloody ruin barely contained by his golden armour, Gronk stood. Reaching back down, he gathered the golden hammer into one hand. Its size meant that his claws would actually be easier to use, but he wanted his enemies to see that one champion was already dead. With a harsh bark, he called all the trolls in the cave to attention. They discarded their half eaten carcasses and rushed after him to the exit. As they pounded back up the corridor, Gronk sniffed the air. In this corridor everything stank of dwarf blood, which was unsurprising. The trolls were all soaked in it, including Gronk. Gore and partially congealed blood matted the fur around his mouth, some pieces off flesh hanging from his jaws.

As he neared the cross roads, he detected another scent. It was thicker, and far more familiar; troll blood. He quickened his pace. When they reached the cross roads itself, they saw one troll anxiously scratching the ground waiting for them. He was one of the ones left with Ragnar, and the youngest troll to accompany the group. As soon as Gronk was in ear shot, he began to spill out the details as far as he knew them. Some minutes after Moruk had left, Ragnar said he could feel disquieting vibrations through the stone in the floor. More time had passed before a goblin came running. He reported that Moruk was heavily engaged with the enemy down the left hand passage, and that he needed reinforcements. Ragnar had been very reluctant to go with him, saying that Gronk might also need reinforcements. The goblin had known better than to insist, but the other troll with Ragnar had decided Moruk needed help. With much grumbling, Ragnar had set off. Without slowing down, Gronk ordered the young troll to follow him and set off down the left hand passage.

Well i was looking forward to joining you for the first time in this amazing thread but i have to mow lawns and spend time with my family so ill just vote on this action and come back in a few hours to join in.

I say take a look around may be something of interest in here for Gronk. Then we should go and check on what happened to his deputies.

When they had run about a hundred metres, they found a great pair of wooden doors that hung half open. Gronk shoulder barged his way through them and assessed the scene that greeted them. This room was truly huge, larger than the interior of the temple. At the far end, there was a raised platform of solid stone. The room was filled with long planks of wood, held up by small legs. These planks were covered in food, drink and the occasional body. It seemed there had been some sort of feast here. Now there was a battle. At the far end of the hall, near the steps that lead to the platform, a mass of heaving shapes was visible. Gronk growled and set off across the cavernous hall. As he neared the battle, he indentified the shape of Ragnar on the edge of the fight and that of Moruk near the centre. Ragnar was battling a figure that was dressed similarly to the dwarf Gronk had killed. However, even as Gronk watched it was apparent that the armour possessed no special abilities, as Ragnar crushed the dwarf’s arm under a vicious blow from his staff.

>Cont.
>>
>>26031620
Gronk speeding charge now brought him to the battle’s edge. All around him, goblins and dwarves hacked and chopped at each other. This was a tight skirmish, both sides having lost all cohesion and discipline that they might have had. Some dwarves had no weapons or armour, only whatever they had been eating with. Others were clearly reinforcements, who wore plate mail and wielded one handed axes and shields. Troll slaves and mountain rats tussled and pushed, each side winning minor victories on the edge, while trolls decided the battles out come in the centre. Heavily armoured dwarves with pikes were attempting to bring the trolls down before swarming over them and removing their head with hand axes. It wasn’t the most effective tactic when dealing with sheer amount of trolls present, but had already brought down several. Moruk had several of the pike’s hooked heads caught in his body but appeared the view this as a minor detail, preferring to focus on murdering as many dwarves as possible.

As Gronk watched in admiration, Moruk threw several dwarfs dozens of metres in the air by grabbing hold of their pikes and heaving. But Gronk realised this was not enough. On the platform, more dwarves were arriving. All of them wore leather armour and held stick throwers. The distance and their half helms obscured their faces, but Gronk saw the fear and reluctance in their motions. They aimed their throwers down and fired. The short, sharp hail of bolts left many dwarves dead and many trolls injured. On the platform, the dwarves were frantically reloading. Moruk was lying on the floor, clearly alive but badly wounded. Several of the dwarves around him had hidden from the bolts under their shields. Now they approached the downed troll with axes raised.

Should Gronk use magic to attack the dwarves with stick throwers or to attack the dwarves around Moruk?

REGIMENTED TROLLS - HUZZAH
>>
Gronk was swift to act seeing the cunning one in peril. He thrust out a fist, sending a fire ball shooting across the intervening space. It struck one dwarf full in the chest, causing him to topple over and scream his lungs out. The other dwarves looked at him in astonished awe, as opposed to running or raising their shields. Before they had even tried to locate the projectile’s source, another downed one of their number. Then Gronk was among them, his axe flashing brightly before covering itself in red. Blood seemed to hang in the air for a second before showering the surrounding area. On the dais above, the dwarves were still stuffing bolts into their throwers and winding with all their might. The stairs were still several dozen metres from Gronk, and now he and his uninjured trolls were now in the firing line. As his head flicked from one side to the other, searching for an escape, he saw Ragnar. The shaman was hefting the metal shield used by Grenfar to charge the door. While unlikely to stop a shot from a ballista, it would probably stand up to a few stick throwers. Grabbing Moruk by the arm, Gronk heaved him to Ragnar and got managed to get all three of them under the shield. When the bolts came, a few struck those bits of Gronk that were sticking out but most clanged off the metal surface. All around them, trolls roared out in pain before falling to the floor. None of the cries were those of dyeing beasts though. Instead, they sounded like the trolls were getting angrier. Some of the trolls who had arrived with Gronk had charged towards the stairs. They had taken the majority of the bolts, enough that they had fallen to the floor looking like hedgehogs.

>Cont.
>>
>>26032474
Gronk tossed the shield to one side and hurtled after them. He sprang over them as they struggled to climb to their feet while picking out bolts. Several started to follow him, moving sluggishly as their bodily systems did their best to counteract the damage. When Gronk gained the top of the stairs, he was greeted with a sight quite unlike that below. The wooden planks here were spread with fine white cloths and covered in food that caused even a mouth used to goat and goblin to salivate. There were no bodies either. A door on the back wall was clearly the exit that had been used to flee the fighting, but the dwarves with stick throwers were standing firm. They were nearly ready to fire.

Roaring the incantation at the top of his lungs, Gronk wreathed himself in cascading flames and charged. The first dwarf tried to raise his weapon but was sent flying from the platform before he could. Gronk’s battle cries and the dwarf’s screams seemed to give many of the other dwarves the incentive they needed to throw down their weapons and run. Not all of them did, but enough that the others were unable to fire without hitting their comrades for a few precious moments. Gronk seized his chance, throwing his axe and charging still faster. The axe swatted three dwarves off the ground before it struck a column several metres back. Severed dwarf torsos landed around it. Gronk contented himself to using claws and fire to massacre the other dwarves. Without the unity their firing blocks had given them, they were unable to muster enough bolts to even slow him down. Here and there, pricks of pain registered in his mind but they were never more than a nuisance. Most of the fleeing dwarves were caught and eaten by the following trolls before they reached the door. One last dwarf stood before Gronk, though this one showed no fear. With his back straight and his head held high, he fired his bolt straight into Gronk’s face. It rebounded off the fleshless side, causing little damage and no pain as Gronk still felt nothing from that side. Instead of killing him quickly, Gronk stopped moving and stood in front of the dwarf. He tossed the blood spattered golden hammer and the bearded one’s feet, letting a grin spread across his face. The little one’s shoulders sagged and his head dropped, just a second before Gronk swiped him off the platform to fall to his death below.

>Cont.
>>
>>26032888
i hope we get some dorf prisoners. it seems like we massacred them all in our lust for blood.
>>
>>26032888
Now Gronk turned and surveyed the battle field below. Almost all the dwarves down there were dead. Here and there, a few still battled with the goblins but they were surrounded and soon to die. All over, trolls were pushing themselves up and plucking bolts from their hides. Three lay still, their heads some metres from their bodies. Moruk was already running up the stairs to join him. Ragnar, meanwhile, helping pull a pike from the nearest troll’s back. On the platform, seven trolls were eating the last of the stick thrower wielding dwarves.

>Should Gronk press on while the remaining dwarves are on the back foot or wait for a few more trolls to heal and join him?

With a glance at Moruk, who had just made it to the top of the stairs, before gathering up the hammer and striding towards the door. A single mighty blow from his shoulder knocked it from its frame. Getting through was a struggle, but Gronk was far larger than any of the others. Few doors would allow someone of his magnitude through unhindered. Surveying the scene and sniffing the air, he saw and smelled no dwarves. He smelt dust and saw an ornate, but clearly rarely used, passageway. The walls were covered in shields that, although once well polished and cared for, has acquired a thick layer of grime. In the dust on the floor, foot prints were clearly evident. They stretched still further into the mine, away and down the corridor. Gronk smelled old dwarf down there, and knuckled after the smell. The other trolls followed him single file down the passage, their furred shoulders giving the shields on the wall a better cleaning than anyone had for years.

As the smell grew stronger, Gronk’s ears pricked. In the distance he could hear voices raised in the common tongue. The passage had reached an iron door, covered with bars. Through the space between it and the floor a chink of light and the voices emerged.

>Should Gronk tell the trolls to be quiet and listen to what their saying or begin to batter down the door?
>>
>>26033476
Well we gained one of his abilities from just a few fingers and although he is not our equal in any way he is a valuable ally with combat prowess and insight into the rest of the world I say we have him give us his favorite spell casting arm to eat in exchange for not killing him that way he will regrow his arm no harm done and we will most likely have his powers if not rinse and repeat.

We're single file in a hallway, and, judging by the old voice, this old dwarf could be some sort of champion like the ones we've previously encountered. We don't want to batter the door and alert them to our presence, as that gives them time to get ready for us to pour through the chokepoint.

Gronk made a universal gesture for silence, raising one claw to his lips. The trolls behind him slowed and stopped, doing their absolute best to obey the implicit command of their leader. Gronk pressed his shaggy, blood smeared head to the door, his ear a few centimetres from the floor. On the other side, he heard two voices raised in argument. One was deep and earthy, much like that of the dwarves he had interrogated. The other was far lighter, reminding him of the screams of the humans whose hamstrings he had severed. The human voice was calling for a retreat via a back tunnel, one that lead to far lower on the mountain. The women and children who lived here could be allowed to escape at least. Gronk wasn’t good at emotion in human voice, but no-one could miss the edge of desperation in the man’s voice. The dwarf voice said that no true dwarf would ever flee their mountain, that they would hold to the last. Behind Gronk, a troll growled and coughed to get the dust from his lungs. On the other side of the door, the voices ceased.

Gronk was now conflicted. If he allowed this back tunnel to be used, most of his potential slaves would escape. But if he sent trolls back to warn the others, these leaders would almost certainly flee deeper into the mine.

I'm sure that someone will find out what happened to this mine anyway. The mine isn't there for nothing or for mere self-sufficiency, I think... It must surely be supplying another town through trade. Once that trade dries up, somebody will have to come to investigate.

Killing the leaders, however, seems like a good immediate solution to the problem.

>>
>>26034871
Sounds good to me.

>>26034812
We should allow Moruk time to recuperate, then send him and his trusted Goblin scout team to survey the human settlement's defenses from a distance. We can also ask Ragnar about humans, like you said, then ask him whether or not he has visited the human settlement (apparently called Märlas, as mentioned in Thread 2 Part 2).

Moruk and his men also apparently attacked the outskirts of Märlas before, and we faced some human defenders at the battle against the goblin camp. That gives us some experience in fighting against them, so maybe we can remember what their tactics were like.

On this note, no expedition has ever been made further north than the mountain the tribe moved to recently. Nor has one been made east. Only the west and south have been explored. It has been mentioned that the further north you go, the less is alive, but it has also been said that the Children come from the southern most mountains.
>>
>>26035387
When we get back we should scout out everything around our home.

With a growl, Gronk span and glared at the offending troll. Moruk, who stood behind him at the end of the line, dug his claws into the young bull’s back. Gronk spoke quickly in trollish, doing his best to describe where the escape tunnel was. He told Moruk to take the loud troll and his goblins to apprehend them. Moruk’s face twists when he realises he will be left out of this conflict’s climax, but he nods and drags the other troll with him. Only now Gronk turns and slams his bulk into the door. Its hard metal surface bruises his arm and crushes against his muscles, his skin tearing as he heaved. There was no room to use momentum or weight, so he was forced to resort entirely to strength. As he heaved, he felt the pins of the door hinges shift in their sockets. Twisting his legs up against the wall behind him, he puts the whole force of his body into the push. As he starts to doubt he can do it, the door rips free of the frame and flies across the room. Gronk scrambled up and rolled into the room. It wasn’t a room really, more of a cross roads. Three rocky passages stretch away into the distance, each one hardly lit and exuding a feeling of incompleteness. It seems clear that this part is where the mountain rats are actually digging things, whereas the rest was where they lived.

Down the left hand path, Gronk smelt human. Down the right, he could faintly sense the scent dwarf. Down the centre, however, he can see a flickering green light and feel the tingle of magic. No scent that he knows comes from it.

>Which passage with who?
>Gronk
>6 bull trolls
>>
>>26035554

Three for human, three for dwarf, Gronk to face magic alone.

I'm not even sure it's a good idea. It just seems really dramatic.
>>
>>26035609
Seconding this. Searching each tunnel at full force would take too long and allow them to escape in the meantime.
>>
>>26035609

True. The dwarf may be harder to interrogate, but I'm sure we could find ways to make the human talk.

Gronk quickly sent his trolls down both outlying passages in groups of three, with instructions to capture rather than kill. He himself strode down the central one. It was roughly hewn and still had wooden mining props holding up the ceiling and walls. The floor had various digging instruments scattered across it. Whoever had been mining here had left in a hurry some time ago, judging by the thin layer of dust on the tools. The dust also had a set of foot prints in them. The big Papa hurried on until the tunnel levelled out into a completely different kind of cave. Unlike the rest of the mine, this part was built with black marble on the walls and carvings of strange letterers and pictures covered the floor in twisting circles. Gronk stepped into this black space and saw that the entrance was not a door or traditional opening. It had been hacked through the wall as though whoever was mining had no idea that it was there. Looking up, Gronk saw that this room stretched far into the distance above him. From somewhere he could feel flowing air and see a tiny beam of sunlight. The floor was lit by the strange green light, the source of which now lay in front of him. It was a raised platform of black rock, not as smooth or reflective as the walls. On the flat top side was a green rock that seemed to emanate fire and light. On the other side from Gronk, a black bearded dwarf glared at him. He began to snarl at Gronk in common.

“You drove me to this, hateful beast! Had you not come here, this thing would have been consigned here forever! Now I must wield it to slay you and your kind. You’ll never understand what you've unleashed on the world.”

>>26036095
It's not really trollish but we could distract the dwarf by saying something like:
"would you really unleash something worse than my kind on the world Dwarf"?
would give him pause enough for us to pop a fireball in his face.
>>
>>26036225
Whatever is happening is already set in stone.

I think we'll be throwing the thunder hammer at him first, so that'd be the time for a snippy one-liner, but I don't think Gronk is elegant enough to say something like that.
>>
>>26036268
True.
He might be smart enough to know that he doesn't want the dwarf anything with that evil rock...
>>
So saying, the dwarf reached down and grabbed the rock. Gronk instinctively knew that something was wrong, that the dwarf shouldn’t, couldn’t touch the rock. With a bellow, he hurled the hammer at him. As the dwarf’s hand touched the stone, the hammer struck the pillar that the stone rested on. Both hammer and pillar exploded outwards, slamming Gronk against the rocky debris. As the dust cleared, Gronk could still see the dwarf. He was standing exactly where he had been, his finger tips still connected to the stone. It seemed to be stuck to them, and was crackling with energy. The dwarf’s face a was a rictus grimace of awe and shock. His whole arm was shaking, as if the stone weighed a great deal. With another mighty crack, the dwarf flew back from the stone. Now it hung in the air unsupported. In a strange flash of insight, Gronk realised the pillar had been there contain it rather than support it. Now it was, as the dwarf had said, unleashed. He had said he meant to wield it, but it did not seem as though it was going to be controlled now. As it floated there, something in Gronk’s head started to twang and vibrate, causing him to roar and bellow in agony. He thrashed on the floor and clutched his head in a vain attempt to diminish the pain. In his head, he heard something. Through the pain, he felt a presence. As he concentrated on it, he suddenly felt his knowledge of it broadening. It was very old, as old as the mountains themselves. It was angry that it had been imprisoned and angrier still that the dwarf had thought to control it. And it hated Gronk for saving it. Most of all, he felt its hate at being beholden to another. So it was trying to kill him.

>Cont.
>>
>>26036361
Through the haze of pain, Gronk saw something else. As it focussed on felling the troll, it had neglected the dwarf. On the ground next to the mountain rat laid the golden hammer. It seemed a little worse for wear, but still had an aura of power. He hefted it in both hands and rose to his feet. Swinging it over his head, he brought it down on the green rock. Instead of exploding or knocking it out of the air, the hammer stuck fast to it. There was a tight sensation in the air, the feeling just before the fuse reaches its termination. Hammer and rock sent sparks flickering into the air. Almost imperceptibly, the hammer was being forced upwards.

>Should Gronk grab the rock, the hammer or the dwarf? Or should he run?

Suddenly, the pain in Gronk’s head was gone. Unfortunately, thought seemed to have gone with it. With a belligerent scream, he shoved himself up and charged the tableau. Without thought to hinder him, Gronk snatched the rock. He pulled it from under the hammer, which swung past and took a chunk out of the floor, and held it in front of his face. He pressed with all his might to crush it, while roaring his dominance against it. All the while, the thing assailed the walls of his mind with its prodigious power and experience. Yet it found no entry in the seamless wall of animal rage. However, Gronk was slowly slipping back into being. And as he did, the pain returned. Before the freedom of the rage left him, he made one last action. He stuffed the rock into his mouth and bit down. With a crunch, the rock gave way.

With his simple mind, Gronk had not pondered much what the thing he was fighting might be. The dwarves had come across it in the early years of their mining, breaking into its chamber by accident. The miners that reported the find said that they had wanted to go closer to it, to hold it. One had tried and had been slaughtered by his comrades. Each knew that none were to touch even as they knew they had to have it. When the elders of the dwarf clan had gotten the information, they went there themselves. It was clear to them that this thing needed to be bound even more securely than it already was. The thing had been old when the world was young, a being of pure energy. Yet it had been chained by the gods that once strode the world. In its long imprisonment, it had slowly developed consciousness. When the dwarves found it, it had tried to make them want it to be free. Instead it had made them want it too much for it to be free, and want it to be free too much to see it held. When the elders re-forged its chains, it had stopped caring about freedom. Yet now it was in its grasp. The hammer was old and powerful, but not half as old as it. The dwarf had trained his whole life in controlling his mind, but a dwarf life is the blink of an eye to a captured star. But this other thing was different. It didn’t know or care what the rock was, it only wanted to dominate or destroy it. Behind Gronk’s fierce strength was a determination to outlast mountains. A mind like that had not been seen since the god times.

When Gronk bit down on the rock, his will had matched itself since a being that had existed since before the earth had been formed from dust. And that being had found itself lacking. In his animalistic rage, Gronk had destroyed a being older than the mountain itself and eaten its corpse. On the ground in front of him, the dwarf had an expression of mute terror on his face. As Gronk crunched the green rock through his teeth and into his gullet, he reached down and picked up the dwarf. He held him aloft, and was about to eat him too, when something pounded inside him. He looked at his chest and saw green light pouring off him like smoke. It touched the ground and turned it to ash, spreading out around him. The dwarf in his hand gurgled once and disintegrated.

God Eata!!!!!!!!

The mighty chief of the Children of the mountain twisted and span inside the black room, watching as the green light melted the walls around him. The power was his, but not something he could control. For a few seconds, he tried to marshal it with his words like he would his flame. Nothing happened. As he stumbled through the fast vanishing floor, he kicked something. It was the golden hammer. Reaching down, he took it in one hand. Some of the green things knowledge had come to him, filtered through his own understanding. The green light was pure power, untwisted by limiting shape or form. It was not meant to be contained and could not be housed in a mortal being. It was only his indomitable will that was keeping his body together. The hammer wasn’t as powerful as the stone, but could kill Gronk with a single blow. The power was his, but wouldn’t obey him consciously. All the pieces of the puzzle rested in front of him, but he couldn’t seem to force them together. Then it clicked. With a below, Gronk smashed the hammer into his own face. It coruscated off the green light like ice off lava, sending a blast of fire and shot of superheated air into what remained of the cave wall. It wasn’t enough. Again and again, Gronk struck himself in the face with the golden hammer, sending wave after wave of energy into the surrounding cave. Slowly, the light stopped destroying his surroundings, focussing on keeping him alive.

Finally, the hammer shattered. The blast of energy destroyed the last remnants of the opposite wall and the whole cave, all the many miles that it stretched upwards, began to shake. The green light still hung in the air around him, but had stopped burning through the walls. However, his fight to stop it levelling the cave had... well, levelled the cave. He charged for the exit and sprinted away. He reached the cross roads and flew up the dusty passage way. By now, nothing was shaking. He reached the grand, cavernous room and stopped. His trolls were still down below, eating the dead. Far less of them now, as many must have left with Moruk, but still at least a dozen. They seemed so calm and unconcerned. Didn’t they know what had happened!? Only Ragnar seemed to feel that something was amiss. The shaman was a little while away from most of the trolls, sitting on the floor and staring into nothing. He kept reaching up a hand to massage his head, so maybe he too had felt the disquieting force of the stone. Gronk turned around and walked back a little way. He lifted up a dwarf corpse in one hand and examined it in a dispassionate way. The bearded rat’s head had been caved in by a claw, while its leg had been bitten half of by a partially interested troll. The green light that leaked from his fur caressed the body, making parts of it shrivel and fall off. Gronk concentrated, bringing his will power to bear. The light froze mid-movement before retreating into his body. As he relaxed, it didn’t come back. Now he reversed his desire, forcing it out and into the dead dwarf. Now it came with a vigour, turning the dwarf into a pile of ash in scant seconds. So. He could use it to destroy, but indiscriminately. As he shifted, he saw that the rock where he had been standing was now coated with a thin layer of ash. Not given to introspection, Gronk grunted and turned his attention to the next task; finding the dwarven leaders.

With quick, easy strides, he moved back to the crossroads. Now he knew why such a sturdy door had been placed there. Where once had been a middle passage, there was now a caved in blockage. The air was full of rock dust, but the marked one could smell blood coming from both passages. With a sigh, he set off.

>Which passage should Gronk choose?
>Left: Humans
>Right: Dwarves

>>26037720
Human was weak and cowardly chase the Dwarf.

There will be plenty of humans for the killing later, if the attack on Marlas goes according to plan. Let them flee, and let them tell stories of trollish brutality and power.

Clearly we are going left. And I'm afraid that will be the last update. Next thread, I fucking swear we'll get around to building a civilisation, not the cut scenes that I did this thread. Theses are fun, but not really what the thread is about.

So stick around for the last update, when I will choose the time for the next thread.
>>
>>26038010

Don't worry about it! Cut scenes break the slower-paced action of civilization-building.
My last session was basically one big cut scene, too.
Thanks for the fun thread, Scriv!
I've been lurking since day one, but I'll try and participate more often.

I have never participated but I love reading this thread. Its awesome.

Always glad to have a name fag on board, makes it so much easier to keep track of people. I like cut scenes too, but this thread and last thread have been cut scene heavy. I wish I could join the insect thread, but it's very late here. I need my beauty sleep.

Gronk began to knuckle his way down the path, wondering what had happened to his axe. After a few moments, he remembered throwing it at some dwarves before pursuing off into the tunnels. It was a relief to now that it wasn’t buried under the mountain. He quickly neared the end of this branch of the mine and found nothing but smells to guide him. He could easily smell the blood and sweat of the trolls, and was just able to pick up the humans past it. It took him some minutes to catch up with those who had been making the smells. He had sent three trolls after the humans, believing there to be only one human. Now he saw that there had been three, each stranger looking than the last. The first, currently pinned under the claws of one of the trolls, had a beard like a dwarf. Except that it was pearly white and reached down to his ankles. His clothes were blue and purple, embroidered with gorgeous emblems. The second had a face that had clearly been born to fight. The nose and mouth very strangely twisted into an unattractive smirk, and that was before the scar tissue and abrasions were taken into account. This human wore strange leather armour that interlocked like scales. On his back was a sword that almost big enough for a troll to use. Gronk couldn’t see how he used it. Finally, there a thin sallow faced man wrapped in black clothe and covered in knives. He eyes were darting constantly from side to side, searching for something. Gronk growled. These three were a complication.

>End for tonight.
