Back to VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST!

Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Valkyrian%20Mercs%20Quest
Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/BxU7VTKr

Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

You are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home.

You first arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact, and figh off an Imperial amphibious invasion by defeating their leader, Belkan Knight Sir Fleisher.

You then moved on to Ustio, where you helped the beleaguered defenders fend off an Imperial offensive and stage a counterattack. While there, you also took care of a personal mission for Qyburn, got a new weapon called the Buzzbomb, recruited some new squad members, and helped Isolde regain her honor by defeating the Knight leading the Imperial forces in the area, breaking the back of the Imperial offensive.

You then returned to Gallia to help the Loyalists fight the GRA and rescue Archduchess Cordelia. You also finally decided to move on from your past and start a relationship with your longtime friend and XO, Sam. Now, you've been recruited by Lynch to destroy two Valkrur superweapons.

Welp, you've basically bought out all the regular gear, so we're just going to stick with R&D stuff now.

Spiderweave Armor (PROTOTYPE) - 1200
Constructed out artificial fibers several times stronger than steel, this cloth armor provides superior protection to standard Scout armor with no additional weight.

Radio Beacon - 1500
A small, handheld device that broadcasts radio signals for buzzbombs to home in on. Greatly improves accuracy, though be sure to get clear once it is planted!

Suppressor - 1500
Portable addons to any existing Gallian weapon to reduce the sound the weapon makes. However, they're not quite as quiet as the Gallian-Q, and have a minor negative impact on weapon performance.

Gungnir (PROTOTYPE) - 2000
Combining the best aspects of the Lancaar and Theimer lances, the Gungnir uses special dual purpose lance tips, packed with high explosive and a brand new molten copper penetrator.

War Emergency Power (PROTOTYPE) - 2000
By disabling the mechanical limiters built into vehicle engines as well as injecting more efficient coolant directly into the engine, total horsepower is nearly doubled. However, has a high chance of damaging said engines.

Rocket Tubes - 2000
Mountable on any vehicle, these are incredibly simple but powerful weapons. Can fire a volley of explosive rockets on an indirect or direct firing arc. However, accuracy is extremely low, and can only be used once per mission.

(cont)
>>
>>26079540
High Velocity Armor Piercing Ammo - 1500
Specialized AP ammo that trades out the standard steel penetrator with tungsten, vastly increasing armor penetration with minimal change in weight. However, tungsten is a rare resource, so equipping HVAP increases a vehicle's upkeep by 200.

Fenrir Heavy Upgrade Package - 6000
Upgrades the Type-36 Medium Tank to a Type-36 Heavy tank. Also includes one master upgrade.

Buzzbomb Launch Racks - 8000
Replaces the Vergeltung's aft cargo bay with vertical launch tubes specially designed to hold and fire buzzbombs. Increases the amount that can be called down from 1 to 4.

we really don't need them seeing how they don't work the same way they do in games
>>
So, uh, the only thing I can see near unanimous decision to buy is Gungnir.

What do you want in addition to that?
>>
>>26079900

Yeah but heavy tank shouldn't drop that much in speed. Unless we go full retard and layer enough armor that it is near dead.

Agree with HVAP ammo. And that buzzbomb rack is so expensive yet so godly. If we had some howitzers right now we could become a walking artillery division.

Name: Arthur Asimov

Gender: Male

Class: Engineer

Personality: Pragmatic whenever trying to solve a problem and prefers using his intellect rather than his physical strength. Tends to be alone tinkering with his projects than hanging out with anyone due to uncommon interests (Extremely talkative to those who share interest in engineering, especially about the wonders of "Transistors").

Background: After making some theories on his hypothetical "Transistor", he was sent as an Engineer working at a remote Ragnite mine along the Gallian-Imperial border. At the start of EWII, the miners were attacked by Imperials and were almost wiped out. Of the 30 workers there, only Arthur lived by improvising and modifying tools, weapons, as well as an escape vehicle to survive the assault until he was found half-alive by a hunter. He doesn't like to talk about what horrors he witnessed there and joined the Demons because it was the only job available that allowed entry to a half-insane man.

>NAME: Tarkov

>GENDER: Male

>CLASS: Scout

>ARCHETYPE: Mercenary. He’s primarily concerned with surviving and getting paid, so long as there are Imperials to kill. May have slight issues with authority.

>BACKGROUND: Militia

>REASON: Revenge

A Darcsen born in the Federation city of Nice, Tarkov grew up amongst distrust and discrimination. While the rest of his family were passive enough to take such treatment, Tarkov wanted to get even. Fashioning his own equipment, including bow and trick arrows, the young Darcsen would usually go about burglarizing people’s homes, even the heavily guarded domains of the rich. When the Second War came along, Nice was razed and his family killed. This drove Tarkov to join the military to fight the Empire. However, issues over his ethnicity caused him to be dishonorably discharged.

Stormtrooper
>Personality
Jovial and some would say foolhardy he is fiercely protective of his friends and comrades in arms and won’t hesitate to put himself in harm’s way to help them. He is passionate about his medical background and hopes to eventually open his own clinic, but considers his work in the field far too enjoyable for that to be anytime soon.
>Background
Born into a family of Osean doctors Felix attended an Osean Medical University at his parent’s behest. When EWII broke out he leapt at the chance to get out of the classroom and into the field to ply his trade and promptly dropped out a month from graduation much to his parent’s dismay. He served on the Osean front as a stormtrooper to be close to the people who would inevitably need immediate care. During a particularly large battle his platoon found itself surrounded by imperials and forced to hold in a nearby forest where they entrenched themselves in hopes of rescue. After weeks of holding against imperial attack Felix found himself quite busy as ragnaid became increasingly scarce, but as casualties mounted and as both food and ammo dwindled they were eventually overrun and Felix was captured. After managing to escape captivity he alone returned to Osea. Disgusted with the way him and his friends were abandoned and unwilling to go back to civilian life Felix promptly deserted hoping to strike it out as a soldier of fortune.

2nd:

Name: "Bloody" Mary

Gender: Female

Class: Shocktrooper

Personality: Cheerful (Formerly), Honest (Formerly), Jaded, Cynical, Cruel (to enemies), Bloodthirsty

Background: A 15-year old Darcsen girl who is jaded to the horrors of war and constantly hides her emotions from others, she wears a half-cape with a Darcsen Pattern trim. During EW2 her parents were rounded up in a Darcsen hunt while she hid in her home's attic and saw her parents being set ablaze by a flamethrower outside the house. Mary only escaped by violently beating an Imperial soldier to death with a crowbar after he was about to rape her, an event which would change her outlook forever. For the rest of the war, she served as a child soldier who took a disturbing interest in bayonet fighting, always charging headfirst into the fray regardless of overwhelming odds, earning her nickname "Bloody" Mary. She has trouble expressing emotions so she pretends being a cheerful girl in order to compensate, and when the situation calls for it. Her best and only friends are her machinegun, and stiletto combat knife. In combat, Mary is completely ruthless in how she dispatches enemies. Out of combat, Mary sometimes gets flashbacks of the time she watched her parents burn and when she was going to be raped, she tends to get quite violent or breaks down sobbing at her helplessness during these flashbacks. Mary joined the Demons so she could find the Imperial that ordered her parent's death so she can finally get closure, but it is unknown what she will do when she meets him.

Was Marcus Fenix a doctor?
>>
Name: Charles Manchester

Gender: Male

Class: Shocktrooper

Personality: Usually reserved, but doesn't mind conversation. Professional otherwise.

Background:
A soldier from the Royal Guards, he was a Shocktrooper who served on the line with fellow Royal Guardsman all the way from Ghirlandaio to the Gates of Randgriz, earning himself distinguished service recognitions during the retreat over the Great Vasel Bridge. Wynn even watched the Militia do what even the Royal Guard could not from a fighting position on the wall of Randgriz. After the war ended he was honourably discharged and went back to his home town in the South. Unfortunately the GRA’s uprising hit and Wynn found himself chased out of town, much to his dismay. Does not speak of his past record much if at all, he does however make it a point to get to know anybody he ends up working with regularly. While one would be forgiven for being unnerved by his calm stare, he is usually quite jovial and will merrily carry on a conversation with the men even while pushing the very same men through PT.

NAME: David "That crazy fuck" Ironheart
GENDER: Male
CLASS: Shocktrooper

PERSONALITY: Cold and quiet bookworm normally. Hyperactive and quick thinking in combat. Very to the point and disciplined. Does not understand humor that well. Loves the feeling that his life is on the line and feels that the thrill of risking everything to complete his assigned duty is what makes life worth living. Completely fearless though not foolishly so after all he has seen too many fools rush to death without thinking.

BRIEF BACKGROUND: Born in a small town in Emmeria. He decided to move to the Ustio and join the army around the start of EW1 because he felt his life was too boring as it was. Once there he took to miltary life with ease and surived many battles others died in due to skill and pure balls to the wall insanity. Afterwards he left the army and wandered joining up with mercs for a time before eventully leaving due to beliving the missions they did weren't exciting enough for him. Currently is around 35 to 38 years old.

One day...

>>26080954
You are Elsa Konig, simple hunting eking out a simple existence on the Imperial frontier. Sure, it was cold, barren, and unspeakable dangerous out here, far from civilization, but it was home, and you were happy with it.

Winter was coming, and you had to be prepare for the coming storm. Now that you were old enough, Mother and Father were expecting you to pull your weight, and you didn't want to disappoint them. You already managed to catch a few rabbits with the traps you set earlier, a respectable but still meager catch. You really wanted to impress your parents, to show them that you weren't just a kid any more.

And a chance presents itself. You see a deer just a few hundred feet away. A magnificent stag. Forget the meat, if you could get those antlers, you could sell them off for quite a profit in town. The trick, though, was that you had to catch it.

You stow your extra gear into one of your hidden caches, and then grab your...

You decided to opt for the bow today. Sure, it didn't have the range or the power of the rifle, but you could always recover the ammo if you missed, which mean Father wouldn't be so cross with you.

Now, the problem was just getting to the deer...

Well, before you start, you pause to check the wind. Damn deers had a very good sense of smell, so one wrong step and you go hungry for the night. You carefully slip your glove off and try to feel for the wind. Fortunately for you, you're downwind from the buck, which means scentwise, you've got the drop on him.

You carefully nock an arrow in your bow, but don't pull on it. No use wasting your strength unnecessarily. You slowly creep in a large circle to get behind the buck, the softly crunching snow being the only thing giving away your presence.

>He can't see you. Try and get a bit closer.

Judging from the distance, you think you can make the shot. The buck doesn't seem to be alerted to your presence, and seems to be digging through the snow in an attempt to find edible grass. You don't want to risk getting any closer, since in addition to smell, deer had really damn good hearing. A snapped twig or some hard snow would give you away.

Taking a deep breath, you begin to pull back on the arrow and aim it at the buck. You aim a bit high to compensate for gravity, and opt to go for a body shot.

You exhale and release.

Your arrow sails through the air, but it's a bit too high. It sails just over the buck and lands in the snow with a soft thump. The buck hears it and its head shoots up, darting from side to side. You think for a moment that you'll have to settle for rabbit tonight, but breathe a sigh of relief when the buck doesn't bolt. However, it's active and alert, which doesn't really bode well for you.

Instinctively, you duck down to the ground, pressing yourself into the snow. It's uncomfortable and cold as hell, but it's better than losing your prey. Thankfully, your camo cloak is enough to fool the deer, but it's still clearly antsy.

So you stay in the snow and wait. After all, an impatient hunter was a hungry hunter. Besides, this made things more exciting. You grin as you eye the buck. This wasn't going to as simple as setting up rabbit traps, and you wouldn't have it any other way.

And thankfully, you seem to have escaped the buck's attentions. The animal finally turns around and starts moving off at a slow pace, probably to look for more food. You finally get up from your prone position and brush off all of the snow that had clung to your clothes, sending flakes of the white powder showering to the ground.

Now it was time to get back to stalking. Judging from the direction the buck was going, you've got a good idea of where it might be headed.

You wait until the buck is well out of hearing and sight before you start to move. You begin to sprint to a nearby hill that has a good view of the surrounding forest. You believe that if the buck is trying to head to the more fertile fields outside the forest, it'll have to pass by that hill. Now the question is if you can beat it there. Normally, you'd have no trouble running to and up that hill, but it's winter, and everything's now under at least a foot of snow, which only adds to the energy you have to expend to get there.

Unfortunately, you spend a bit more energy than you would've liked getting up the hill. When you reach the top, you're afraid you might have guessed wrong or missed the buck, but you catch movement at the edge of the forest and see the buck breaking the treeline.

Normally, a bow shot at this distance would be no problem, but you're still a bit tired out from having to get here in a hurry, and your fatigue might affect the shot. Then again, the buck is in a wide open field now, which means you won't have any obstructions.

Exhaling again, you let the arrow go and it arcs through the clear sky like a bird of prey. You see it reach the apex of its climb before gravity snatches it and falls back down to the earth. Directly on top the buck. It strikes the buck on the back of the neck, causing it to topple over and spasm and twitch wildly as its spine is severed by the arrowpoint. You silently congratulate yourself on the shot, and wish Father were here to see it. You vividly remember how he'd laugh and pat your head whenever you made a good shot like that, and you always pretended you hated it.

You shake your head. You're still on the hunt and you need to focus. Even though you've downed the buck, you need to get it back home before it got dark, and you did NOT want to be stuck out in the forest at night. Father always warned you there were worse things than bears and mountain lions hiding in the trees...

When you reach the buck, you're surprised that the animal is still alive. Its wild thrashing and twitching has subsided somewhat, but it's still trying to move around. There's no way you can move it while it's still alive like that.

While you COULD just lay back and watch the buck slowly succumb to its wounds, you could just imagine Father standing behind you giving you a good smack to the side of the head. According to him, the Hunters' Code was that on a hunt, you always shoot to kill and never just to wound. You don't make your prey suffer any longer than you have to. You do recall a couple of fellow hunters you know who get their rocks off shooting a deer's legs off and watch it bleed out. You don't really want to associate with any of those freaks.

So, you raise you bow and drive an arrow straight into the buck's skull. This close, there's no way you can miss. And just to make sure, you pull out your hunting knife and slit its throat as well, staining the snow beneath it a crimson red.

With that, you sling your bow around your shoulder, grab the buck by the antlers, and begin to drag it back to your cache. You have a sled there you can pile the carcass on, which would make transporting it home so much easier.

If there was one thing you really hated, it was being the hunted instead of the hunter, and right now you were really feeling like the prey in this situation. You fight the instinct to stand and fight, and instead decide to play things smart. You break and run off into the forest to look like you're bugging out, though once you feel you've gotten a safe distance, you double back from a different direction, returning to the area you ditched the buck carcass at.

As you creep forward, making sure to stay hidden, you notice the buck is still there. That meant one of two things, either everything was just your imagination, or these guys were being careful.

You decide to stay and wait the bastards out. This was your forest, after all, and you sure as hell weren't going to let a pair of losers just poach from you like that. After what seems like the longest half hour EVER, you finally see movement in the trees.

Yep, it was definitely two people. They look a bit haggard with clothes that are a little too worn, but they're pretty well armed and big. Out here in the wilderness, outside the reaches of the law, outlaws and criminals were actually a pretty common thing. You were taught not to trust anybody that you didn't recognize from town.

The two men are armed with ancient and beat up looking hunting rifles, which you're honestly not sure if they worked any more or not. However, you really don't have any intention of finding out. The two strangers cautiously approach the buck.

Your first arrow flights straight and true, burying itself into the shoulder of one of the strangers. He screams in pain as he falls down, thrashing in the snow.

"Agh! That fucking bitch!" He screams. "She's still out there! Get her!"

His partner raises his rifle and fire, taking a chunk out of a tree two meters to your left. You then remember that since you're using a bow, it's easier to see where your shots are coming from.

Your instincts kick in and you begin to move to a different location to avoid getting spotted or cornered. You suddenly realize that you're smiling as you duck and weave your way through the trees. Hunting game was one thing, but things just seemed infinitely more exciting when the prey started shooting back! Adrenaline surges through your veins as you sprint to you next firing position. Trying to catch your breath, you draw a new arrow and fire at the second stranger, who's still firing at where you were last hiding at. The first man manages to scramble to his feet, but with his shoulder disabled he can't use his rifle, so he opts to shout orders and firing directions to his partner. Fat good that's doing them right now.

Unfortunately, your shot is a bit rushed and you're still tired out from all that running you did, and your shot is off, just nicking the second stranger's side. The first stranger points in your direction and starts yelling at his partner to turn around.

You check your quiver. You've only got five arrows left.

Taking a deep breath, you lean out from behind the tree you were hiding behind and take another shot at the strangers. At this point, the injured one has already pointed out your position to the one with the rifle, and he swings around to zero his sights on you.

Your heart goes cold when you see the man's rifle line up directly at your face, and you prepare for the worst. However, the worst never comes. The gun makes an audible clicking sound and the stranger realizes in horror that he's out of bullets.

Well, you've still got five arrows and ones already nocked and ready to go. You let it fly, and it flies straight and true, burying itself right through his left eye socket. The man then drops to the ground, dead as the buck lying next him.

The injured stranger then begins to panic and tries to flee back into the forest.

You decide to chase after the stranger. The bastard had the nerve to try and steal your kill, and you had to make sure that he had to pay.

Plus it seemed like the more fun thing to do.

You sprint after him, following his blood laced tracks in the snow as he attempts to escape, every so often glancing back to see you approaching him.

Without missing a beat, you pull out your hunting knife and press it against the man's throat.

"Okay, start talking, asshole." You hiss. "Why the hell are you out here? Trying to steal my food? Get your rocks off stalking little girls in the forest?"

"I'm not telling anything to you, you bitch!" The man snarls.

"Wrong answer." You say as you grab the arrow still buried his shoulder and twist it, smiling at the pained screaming he makes in response. "Let me ask again, what the hell are you doing out here?"

"S-some guy paid us to follow you! T-that's it!" The man cries. "W-well, he also wanted us to grab you and bring you to him..."

The man whimpers, and you get the feeling that's all you're getting out of him. However, you're still disturbed at the fact that there's somebody out there who has a keen interest in you.

Considering where we live, you grow up fast. So we aren't a regular little girl, these guys tried to kill us, he is wounded(finish the kill), Elsa today is a bit of a nutter so she probably already was at this age, merc's description already informed us we enjoyed hunting them like this. Lots of in character reasons to kill him.
>>
>>26088201
"What kind of guy are we talking about here?" You ask, pressing the knife closer on the man's throat.

"I don't know! All I know is that he's some rich guy. Offered a lot of money to us! That's all I know, honest!"

Scowling, you briefly consider killing this sorry excuse for a person, but you think better of it. No fun or honor in gutting a defenseless person here.

"Get the hell out of here." You scowl, taking you knife off the man's neck. "Next I see you in my forest you're fucking dead."

The man nods rapidly and flees into the forest.

By the time you get back to the buck carcass, the adrenaline has already worn off and you begin to feel extremely tired. However, you persevere, and manage to drag the buck all the way home.

However, when your each your humble little cottage, you see that it's surrounded by Imperial soldiers. They see you and let you pass, leaving you wondering just what the hell they're doing here. However, you don't want to make a fuss so you leave the buck outside and enter your home.

"Mom, Dad, I'm ho-" The words catch in your throat when you see a goddamn Imperial Prince sitting in your living room. Mother and Father are sitting across from him, looking both incredibly uncomfortable and anxious. You really can't blame them, though.

"Ah, so you've finally returned, my little Elsa Konig!" The Prince says happily. You see Father's expression darken slightly, "I must say, you far exceeded my expectations."

"Haha. Hahahaha." You laugh awkwardly, trying to deal with this newfound situation. "Dad, did you marry me off again?"

However, the look your father gives you tells you that this is no joking matter, and your laughter suffers a premature and grisly end. You turn to the prince, who still has that pretentious smile on his face.

"I've been traveling the Hinterlands for months now, trying to find myself a new personal huntsman. At first, I considered recruiting your father here, but when I started hearing the stories about you, his daughter, I thought that maybe I would be better off recruiting you!" The Prince laughs. Oh god that laugh was really annoying. "We'll be leaving first thing tomorrow morning."

"Whoa, I don't get any say in this?" You ask.

"You are being GIVEN THE HONOR of being in the entourage of an Imperial Prince!" The Prince says rather sternly. "Refusing such an offer would not only be besmirching me, but by extension the Emperor himself!"

You give a look of horror to Father, already realizing what's happening. You're being taken away and there's nothing any of you can do about it.

"B-but my family relies on me for their livelihood-"

"No worries. I already paid them a king's ransom for you. They can live like kings for the rest of their life! Or at the very least move out of this backwater!"

You feel the urge to scream and yell at this bastard, maybe even punch him for good measure, but Father shakes his head.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have other matters to attend to." The Prince stands up and walks out of the cottage flanked by a pair of his guard. It has now just occurred to you that this guy had never given you his name.

"I'm sorry Elsa, there's nothing I can do." Father says sadly to you. "You'll have to be brave, for all of us. When you leave, you may take our rifle with you, as well."

"But I can't! It's so important to you!" You wail.

"You'll need it more than I do." He says. "Anyways, I was planning to give it to you when you were of age. And I'm proud of that buck you brought in today."

You don't know what else to do but hug your parents and cry.
