Running late is not quite fashionable when you have such pleasant people waiting on you...

Believe me, this was never my intent.

Alas, we begin once more Faefnir's tale as we come to a certain... climax... Hopefully we won't need to pause in the middle of it...

Right then!

Faefnir, once a gentle yet sad baker and a lovestruck young man. Within this murderous machine they've been united till the demon's death will them apart.

Last time in our telling, the more interesting events in Faefnir's interlude conclude, and he's begun to set up a delightful sort of surprise for the Lord's funeral.

His allies have collected scraps of knowledge that could prove useful or useless likewise.

However will he go on about this certain.. challenge?

Only time will tell, only time will tell..

First, Faefnir's stats and abilities!

I'll be posting the last few updates from the last thread.

Along with the general information acquired to get us all up to speed. <3
>>
>According to Dennis(Armbrust), the Town Guard will not be attending the Funeral, he has recently informed you that it will be open to the townspeople, and that the guard will in fact be gathering everyone together to pay their respects for Lady Florin's funeral.

>Madeleine has informed you of rumors pertaining to an exorcist having come into Florin. Nothing that details The Asher... which honestly surprises you given the pure rage he had for his brother's murder. You almost wanted him to show up so that you could have your revenge...

>Morgan has created two more skulls out of people that the sisters have captured, apostates that didn't even realize they had the gift of magic till it was too late.

>Fonso, the cursed gypsy will be meeting with Morgan today, you'll need to pick him up, or simply let him go to her on your own. Madeleine's words still bother you somewhat.

> Andrea doesn't expect you to work today, in fact she's taking the day off to prepare for the bake of tomorrow's night for the Funeral. If there was a time to speak with her, it would be now.

> Klaire and the children know the city streets better than anyone in the family, they know the routes.

> Pastor James has informed you that the funeral service will be upon the docks and at the lakeside nearest to the church.

>Edward has informed you that the Mausoleum's full. They'll be burning the body upon the water. "No skin off my bones, less work for me right?" He chuckled at that.

> You still can't get in contact with Jacqueline and Lisa.

>Morgan informs you that Maashima, the noah of Pity will be arriving to pay his "respects" during the funeral... and that Alice will be here as well.. Though she will not be directly involved.

>Morgan reports the Crimsons have destroyed nearly all the other demons created since in Florin, save for your family, Jacqueline, and Lisa.
>>
>You don't have an insider for the funeral planning, so you don't know of a way to get to the food or wine besides through Andrea's baked goods. Pastor James will not have any interaction with it, though he may insist to "bless it." It may cause severe suspicion to fall upon him.
>>
With a freshly baked slice of you Black Bouncer Bread, you give The Warm Morning a knock some time into the day, and receive the gentle smile of Andrea.
"Why, hello there Mr. Jacob. I though I told you that we weren't working today, getting ready for tomorrow..."
You squirm a little under her mature, flirty gaze.. much unlike Maddie's. Yet you stand firm, and offer her the bread," This is like the black... err... cake I made the other day. My friends have told me that they really like it."

She touches it and takes it out of your hands, looking upon it in wonder," Interesting... it's black enough to be burnt, yet soft enough to be a fresh loaf... How in the world..."

Your inner devil hides, your mask of innocence the only thing that shows. "Go on, eat it, tell me how it is." You get closer to her, trying to pressure her instead of the other way around...

She looks down to you, an amused smile.
>>
You give a smile in return and push past the door, closing it behind you.
She raises an eyebrow at you. her red hair catching some luster in the sparse light. "Jacob, Jacob, what are you- Oh!" You take the bread with your teeth and push her against one of the counters, grabbing her by her wide hips and lifting her up with your deceptive strength.
She just goes on about giggling at your advances before finally puts a hand on your chest, and snatches a bite of the bread that's jutting our from your own mouth.

"I'm sorry if I've led you on Jacob... I.. It's just hard being a widow for so many years. I've had plenty of men come in and flirt with me... it's..." She starts tearing up after swallowing the bread," It's my own fault that I've... turned down.. their advances.. Like right now." She starts sniffling, tears streaming down her face as her expression contorts, trying to hold back her tears.
You take the bread out of your mouth and offer it to her. She refuses any more with a shake of her head and a raise of her hand.
"You look so much like my own long dead Husband... " She places a hand upon your cheek tenderly, feeling your flesh.

"Andrea... I'm sorry if I've brought these feelings back... You must really miss him... don't you he was good to you, wasn't he?"
The redheaded baker nods slowly, bringing both hands to her face as the tears begin to flow. You hug her, feeling the tears that wash down your face trickle upon your shoulder.
"Let it all out, let it all out... You know... I've heard of a doctor that can bring back the dead...
>>
"That's hogwash" She wipes away a few tears, yet to no avail as she keeps crying," There's no such thing.. The Crimson's told us so.."
You shush her silently," The Crimson don't know the power of love that can transcend death itself." You pull away and look her in the eyes. Once green and white have become green and red from her uncontrollable grief..
"They can't save you.. What say you ask the doctor to bring him back? It would only be for a day... You could say goodbye.. I could meet the man that I remind you of.." You touch her gently, and look into her eyes with a calm seduction, she's entranced by your eyes.

She starts nodding at that," If.. if you really think he exists, then I'd look for him. I'd love to see me Leo again..."

You shake your head and rest it upon her chest," You don't seem to understand... he finds you."

Without the door opening, you suddenly hear a voice from behind Andrea," Indeed, I listen to the pleading hearts ripe with misery... The people lost without their dear ones... Miss Flowers, I would do you a dear service and restore your Leo to you..." There he is, from out of nowhere, the Plague-masked Doctor...
You notice that the smell of Lilac is hanging upon the air... Odd, that.

Andrea turns to the man with a gasp," Oh, you... You... You're... So you're the doctor?" She seems to relax from the surprise, growing nearly drowsy, you separate yourself from her... Eyes entranced by the doctor.

"Yes, indeed. Call out the name, my goodly little baker. Call out the name and be returned to him." He seems almost... bored? Not as... amused as he often is.

Andrea, in a trance, nods," Leo... My dearly beloved Leonard Flowers... I kept his last name. return him to me."
>>
With a tap of the cane, he tosses it up and grabs it with a flourish, an Akuma skeleton appearing," Oh Faefnir, always the busy bee... or are you going by Jacob again?"
He turns to Andrea," Ah yes. Here is your long-lost Leonard Flowers, he is returned to you as a demonic monster that's going to be killing you and wearing your body as a flesh suit.. Now is the time to scream."

Andrea screams... Lazily?" Ahhh..." As though stuck in a daze."

The newborn Akuma roars, and lunges out," Andrea! Andrea! How could you turn me into this?! I'm a monster! Andrea!!!"

In the whole display, only the Akuma seems to have any enthusiasm for this event.

The Good Doctor's kept his eye on you the entire time, unflinching even as the demon begins to ravage the body with what would be its first weapons.

The Doctor yawns llazilty, the mask opening up like an actual mouth," Hello my dear Jacob. How are you this... Fine and early morning? Apologies if I seem a touch... drab. I'm much more of a night person... Don't get too many grieving people in the morning... And Alice? Ohhh, Alice never sleeps, possibly why she's Ma- Nope! not going to say it. Not going to suffer a half day in wonderland again..

Once more faced with the Doctor, you are taken aback by his change in overall behavior and the strange trance of his... victim?
>>
>>26142142
> Andrea doesn't expect you to work today, in fact she's taking the day off to prepare for the bake of tomorrow's night for the Funeral. If there was a time to speak with her, it would be now

We did this. so now it is time for this

>Fonso, the cursed gypsy will be meeting with Morgan today, you'll need to pick him up, or simply let him go to her on your own. Madeleine's words still bother you somewhat.

Pick him up. And bring Maddy with you if you'd like.
>>
>>26142255
We've still got the Duke with us. It would be rude to leave him without seeing if he has anything to say.
>>
>>26142247
"I do apologize for calling you so early, my Good Doctor. I just really had to get this out of the way sooner rather than later. I'll be sure not call for you so early unless it's something REALLY important."
>>
>>26142255

So much zeal here! Loving it!

Andrea's little situation is not yet over.

Ah, and to recollect Maddie's words... She blamed Morgan for Ivan's death and spoke of her... distaste that you're still associating with a woman that ordered you to die.

As for the Good Doctor...

>[] Excuse yourself politely.
>[] Attack him, he has to die.

Yes, yes it would. I thank you for coorecting my breach of etiquette. Ask him if he'd like some bread as well.
>>
>>26142320
>excuse yourself politely

>>
>>26142320
Ask the Duke if he would like something to eat. His malaise is clear and you would like to ease it.

Then ask him about the baker. Why does she seem...stunned?
>>
>>26142320
Ask him about other Noahs, perhaps he can help put us on the trail to other Noahs as our working with Morgan is currently causing.... friction in our family and we would prefer to leave after the funeral.
>>
>>26142320
Hand him some bread and the excuse yourself politely.
>>
>>26142433
He already have us a list of places where the other Noahs may be. We're just stopping by at Florin for now.
>>
>>26142392
>>26142436
So wait, why would we want to excuse ourselves without speaking to him?

And as for my earlier..... outbursts towards the plans of noah know this, my heart and soul are your tool and ally against God and the fools who praise him. Please allow my actions and those of my Family to alleviate any doubts you have."
>>
>>26142528
exactly. also, we should let the Doctor at least go and take a nap before he has to do any more work.
>>
>>26142142
Okay, it being open to townspeople means we can get most of our people into place easily.

If skulls don't breathe we can put them under the docks in wait for the signal to start doing their thing. Jacqueline can hide in the water, not sure about Lisa though.

We'll want to take Fonso to Morgan, and to personally meet with Maashima if possible.

We'll want the Pastor to "bless" the stuff that'll be drunk first with Jacqueline's venom, our venom is kind of obvious, and if possible to mix some of ours in with the stuff to be drunk later.

>>26142320
[X] Speak with him about something.... (Please choose a subject/dialogue)

Give him a inclined nod of our head, put on our best smile.

"It's good to see you again Doctor, I apologize for the early hour.

I must admit you don't seem quite yourself, would you care for a loaf of bread to cheer you up? I just made a lovely sourdough, I'm sure Alice would enjoy it, it would work quite well with jam or preserves spread on it accompanied by a strong tea.

How goes the search for the rest of your dear Family?"

Also ask about his thoughts on what Morgan has made. Ask if he has any thoughts on the funeral we're going to crashing.

And honestly we should ask what his thoughts of us are, avoiding the issue won't do us any good. Something along the lines of

"So Doctor, I assume that you have heard the results from Morgan's little experiments concerning myself and my family. Quite an odd occurrence I must admit.

I assure you though we are your ally in all things and we share the same cause."

>>26142489
Fuck if I know, he's a good source of information and good to talk to. It doesn't take much time to chat.

>>26142433
I happen to like being around Morgan, yes she was a jerk, but she apologized and we're rather close to her.

>>26142531
Don't say we are his tool, we aren't in the least bit his tool. We are his friend, his ally, but not his tool, and we do not say as such.
>>
>>26142320
[X] Speak with him about something.... (Please choose a subject/dialogue)

We may not see him for a bit, may as well get some talking in.

Offer bread, ask if he's doing alright.

Also ask why he smells like Lilacs and why Andrea was quite so apathetic about her death. It's kind of odd.
>>
You give the gentleman before you a polite inclination of your head to properly greet him," It's good to see you again my good doctor, I apologize for the early hour, it seems I have way with despair." You punctuate the with a mischievous grin, eliciting a couple clucks of the man's tongue.

"It is never to early to give birth to a new demon.. By chance.. Will you be adding this one to your family as well.. Faefnir?" The doctor's bespectacled mask seems to peer at you almost warily.

Behind him, you see that the skeleton has begun to devour the body of Andrea, crushing through flesh, bone and cloth alike. Her expression still seems so distant, as though this isn't really happening to her..

The smell of Lilac still hangs in the air.

You reach into your jacket to access your oven, pulling out a loaf of the Rampart Russian Bread..

You're about to offer it.. however there's a strange apprehension in the air.
>[] "Why yes, I will be, unless you'd rather me not?
>[] "Yes, is there a problem?"
>[] "No, she's all yours."
>>
>>26142880
>[] "Why yes, I will be, unless you'd rather me not?

We need a strong group, since we'll be going to look for the other Noah, is our reasoning. Also waifuing. But he does need to know that shameful secret.
>>
>>26142880
>>[] "Why yes, I will be, unless you'd rather me not?
"If you feel she would be of greater use elsewhere then by all means, but with the Cross hunting down so many of my unmet brothers and sisters she may not last long without a more.... family environment."
>>
>>26142948
let's go with this.
>>
>>26142948
This
>>
>>26142948
This is good.
>>
>>26142880
"I have two things to ask first. Firstly, why does it smell like Lilac? Is it why Andrea is quite so distant and apathetic about her death? What does this Lilac scent do?

Secondly, would you mind telling me the general survival rate of Akuma? If I remember correctly for each one that is born another dies keeping the number from growing. As I suggested to Morgan those who are raised in a family environment tend to fare much better.

As for Andrea, I had thought she would be joining me. That does seem to follow how we've done things so far. Aside from the very beginnings of the Family I do not invite Akuma from outside my Family to join me, but those who I had a hand in bringing about the despair that called you remain with me. So has it been with Madeleine, Ivan, with Edward.

Why do you ask Doctor? Do you have pressing need of this one?"

Also after our short talk offer him the bread to share with Alice, suggest that it would be well with jam.
>>
>>26143081
>Why do you ask Doctor? Do you have pressing need of this one?"

That makes us sound snotty.

We do not have a right of claim over any of the Akuma that the good Doctor creates. Acting as if just because the Doctor doesn't immediately need a fresh newborn Akuma that it should fall under our power is.....well, you can see how that could be taken. We're trying to set ourselves up as something apart from the Noah Family, but that does not mean we are their equals. Equals in mind, but not in power and leverage.

We want Andrea because we believe we can nurture her the best. But we can't put any sort of claim over her. It's like a country who says they know how to better use another country's resources (not just land or materials, but the labor force as well) and, thus, should have a claim over it.
>>
>>26143081
So, offhand, that second comment of yours indicates we could in fact endeavor to replace all Akuma with our own, what with their increased chances of surviving.
Though I'll note that since we haven't found a good way to spread out, we'd be a centralized target.
Just a thought.

>>26142948
Is what I suggest though.
>>
>>26143276
We can't have all the Akuma, it'd be far too centralized, that sort of thing wouldn't work. Besides without the Doctor's ability to control Akuma and look through their eyes and so on it just falls apart, and while we can command them we can't do it to the same level he can nor can we spread ourself over that wide an area.

What we suggested to Morgan was using the Skulls to lead and nurture packs of Akuma, to imitate our methods, they'd still remain under the Doctor's control in that case, but it'd stop the Level 1s from being easily discovered as the Skull could keep them from going on random stupid murdersprees and make them keep up the masquerade of living. The Skull could also match any Crimson Mages that would otherwise be able to kill a Level 1 Akuma.
>>
>>26143337
so, my plan is that we keep turning people into akuma, and take maybe 1 or 2 every now and then that interest us, and let the duke have the rest.
>>
>>26143337
Less that it is immediately practical, more that the good doctor might understandably not wish that state to occur at a later time.
As in, we potentially are a threat in some fashion, should we manage to continue to grow in strength as we have.
>>
>>26142880
"Well, I had been planning to keep her as "Andrea" is an essential part of my cover here and I'd rather not have Level 1 shenanigans mucking things up. That said, I would be willing to pass should you ask it."
>>
>>26143359
also, I think we should have Jacqueline and Lisa travel with us after this. not as family, but as a group of allies. also, if Morgan will continue to travel with us after this, they will be helpful in capturing any Crimson Cross Mages we come across so we can make them skulls. and then when with each skull, we gather like 5 new akuma, and then send them off with the skull as there leader.
>>
>>26143359
I'm thinking if we're the one who turns them we keep them, unless we have enough people in the family already. The Doctor has plenty of other sources of despair to draw from, he can have all those, we just want the ones who we are directly responsible for their calling of the Doctor.

Besides, we don't particularly want a HUGE family of Akuma, it'd be difficult, we wouldn't know them all personally, it just wouldn't work out. We probably won't even take all of the ones who we create once we hit a good size, though the occasional replacement may be needed.
>>
>>26143416
Before coming to such an arrangement, it'd be best to test the waters with the Duke first. So don't bring up something like that at this time.
>>
>>26143406
While this is true, I think the Noah are concerned that mere proximity to us is capable of turning Akuma from their control given enough time. They might not actually be wrong you know.
>>
"Why, If you feel she would be of greater use elsewhere then by all means. However, with the Cross hunting down so many of my unmet brothers and sisters she may not last long without a more.... family oriented environment.. If you don't mind my asking, and allow me to be more proper.. Could I welcome her?" You retain your composure and give a slight bow before turning to the counter and cutting the bread properly with a knife.

The subdued screams carry on in the background, yet seem to draw no attention from outside.. you do notice that the walls have taken on an...odd color. Likely a spell he's cast? It would only make sense.

You hear the heavy, yet paced steps of the doctor behind you," Ah, well.. There is no reason for you not to keep her. After all you've done the most work in the process of making her.. So hard to bring some people into despair after all." You feel a hand on your shoulder, gloved, cold, a firm grip, and an oppressive presence.

You never felt this way about the do0cto0r before..

His voice is gentle, yet calculated," Go ahead, this one is all yours. And, is that bread for me?"

With a chill down your spine," Why, yes. Of course." You turn around and you see his mask's eyes nearly crazed yet.. comical?
The expression quicly relaxes into his usual sort," Why, thank you. Always so kind to me."

You shrugs your shoulders casually as you offer him the bread with a slice of cheese," I believe in family after all. You are my maker, my father. You are due such respect."

The Doctor places a hand over his heart, or perhaps lack-there-of, obviously touched," It.. is quite good to hear of that.. Is there anything else you'd like to discuss this morning Faefnir? The gnashing of flesh certainly does good to wake a man up.." He takes a smalle bite of the cheesed bread," And you certainly do have a way with bread if I do say.."

It occurs to you that the smell of Lilac still permeates the air,"Say, this smell.. It's... strange.. What is it?"
>>
The Doctor takes a seat and waves, a pair of cups and a teakettle appearing. The kettle pours itself into each cup, and the doctor offers you one, that you graciously take to complement the bread.
"Concerning this.. perfume.. It is a side-project of Morgan's. She thought that the smell of death and plague hung a touch strongly on my person as of late. She enchanted this fragrance and well.. You see the result.." He seems a bit disappointed at the end."
Thoughtful," Does this concern Andrea's odd behavior? She does appear..
"Hypnotized? Enchanted? Dull? Heavens me, I know! I can't stand it. She's the fifth one I've made with this seductive scent and it's just so awfully boring. Honestly, she thought that this would speed up the process.. indeed it does however if I'm not using my charms I'll simply lose them! We need to increase the production ofAkuma though.. so alas, I'll need to bear with it."
At a sip of your tea," Oh, I see... Well.. Speaking of Morgan, what of her.. invention? The converted humans? Ah.. Well, what could we call them?"
The doctor chuckles at you," Oh dear, Alice was quite creative when the first was brought to her attention. She named it Harlequin and threw a mask on its face... THough, failing such a flamboyant disguise, I'd like to call them Skulls, to remain simple. Their command of Akuma is not unlike yours, however.."
Your expression flat," However they don't supersede the command I have over my family."

With a snap of his fingers, the doctor chuckles," Yes, just that! Yet they will indeed be useful given your suggestions to Maitora as per their use. In the upcoming harvest, I hope you will do well to taking the mages alive for this purpose, it would certainly do well for our effort."
>>
>>26143720
>She named it Harlequin and threw a mask on its face...
the doctor put my idea in, yay
>>
>>26143720
"I'll do what I can Doctor, I quite enjoy Morgan's work.

I do hope that Skulls can create more of themselves, it would be much faster than Morgan making every single one.

Could you tell me some more about Maashima? I haven't met him and would hate to leave a poor first impression.

There is a small something I have wondered, do Noah dream?"
>>
With a nod and another sip of tea, you eye the newborn demon as it finishes eating Andrea, the human skin boiling out over the bones," Yes, of course. It would be my pleasure. Say.. From my understanding.. Morgan infuses the... Skulls with the power of Noah, yes? Dark Matter?

The Doctor nods at that, letting you go on.

"Perhaps... Would it be possible for them to create Akuma with your blessing?"

The doctor nearly drops his cup of tea, sets it down and raps his fingers against the mask.. or perhaps this is his head?
"That.. That could perhaps be arranged... If they could move about without arousing suspicion... Perhaps garb like myself.. This.. this should indeed be arranged.. With even ten of them working despite not being as.. swift as I, we could double, perhaps even triple production.. A brilliant suggestion Faefnir.. Quite brilliant... Perhaps I had been wrong about you.." That.. odd crazed look appears again upon the mask, as he rises. A chill running through your body again.

"Pardon?"

The Doctor's mask returns to.. "sanity" again, as he waves off the question. Oh now, nothing, nothing. Nevermind. I MUST be leaving. "Tata!"

A hole to a mad world opens up beneath him and he falls through before it closes... Only for it to open up again upon the table and a child-like hand reach for the bread on the table, obviously attached to an arm, it walks its fingers over to the sliced loaf...

"A moment my dear." You speak gently to the shy and, giving it pause, the fingers pivot toward you, and the hand seems to be standing there, waiting shyly like a kid with her hand caught in a cookie jar.

You grab a small bottle of jam from the pantry and a few more slices of cheese, spread the jam upon one slice and hand it to her while pushing the rest forward.

The hole opens up and her body pops out to grab the assortment. She pauses, to stare at you... It's Alice in her Noah form, midnight blue hair and amber eyes. She stares at you oddly before slipping back into her "rabbit hole" with the items.
All is quiet for a moment before she pops back out, just her upper body., you see that she's still wearing her lacy little dress despite the cold of winter still upon England.
With a little smile breaking upon her face, you see that there's a smudge of jam," You're not a bad Akuma I think.. So.. Be careful. Adam's lost many of his eyes here. We're not sure what's going to happen at the funeral."
She starts to slip back into the portal, stopping with just her eyes above the surface," Morgan likes you. Don't hurt her or I'll send you into Wonderland..."
She slips the rest of the way in, and then a hand pops out with a finger pointing out."Oh, and I'll need bread tomorrow for the tea party! I'll stop by here in the morning!" And finally, she's gone.

You never even got to tell her that she got jam and cheese on her dress...

You're now left with a bloody mess all over the baker floor, and an Andrea that's standing perfectly still in the middle of it all. Staring blankly with an almost guttural growl passing through its llips... or perhaps.. stomach?

"Andrea my dear, clean this up. It's unsightly." You say with your tone of command and she gets right to work.

Interesting, truly interesting that you can command others like this, you smile at that, yet it turns into a frown as you recall the things the duke had said.
>>
>You have things to be doing... Next had been the delivering of Fonso to Morgan... yes?
>>
>>26144221
Let us go!
>>
>>26144221
yes, this will be most amusing I hope <3
>>
>>26144221
>>26144241

There was mention of bringing Madeleine along for this... Is it something we'd like to do? Perhaps anyone else?
>>
>>26144221
probably put up a sign or something that will signify that the shop is closed due to sickness. also, tell Andrea that after she is done cleaning up to go up to her room, close and cover the windows, and wait for us to come get her.
>>
>>26144267
We could bring her, to show her that we want her arround us.

Lets also close the bakery for a while.
>>
>>26144213
So....
>Morgan likes us
>Road thinks we're a good Akuma
>Pity is ?
>Bond seems to support us wherever they are

>and Adam is simply beside himself with all our surprises lately
>>
>>26144267
hm.... I'm gonna say no.
>>
>>26144221
I believe that is our next step.

If I remember correctly Andrea was taking the day off to prepare for the funeral anyways so tell her to shut the doors, close the blinds and windows, close the curtains, stay inside. Have her clean things up, and if she is up to it prepare ingredients for baking after everything is spic and span.

>>26144267
I don't think there's any need to bring anyone with, we can handle it. Also, Fonso and his buds would be wary as hell about a stranger coming with them for this.

>>26144299
Hopefully we'll meet Maashima before the funeral.
>>
>>26144267
Anyone remember the reasons as to why this was brought up?
>>
>>26144267
sure, nothing like having some muscles and tits just in case
>>26144279
we need bakery open to bake our bread for the funeral in a few days and "closed for sickness" would be suspicious
>>
>>26144322
yeah, and a lvl 1 akuma killing all who enters isn't?
>>
>>26144322
Read the second post, she's already taken the day off. The store is already closed, we just need to make sure that nobody comes in, which is what locking the door and closing windows, blinds, curtains, and so on is for.
>>
>>26144267
Yes, we should. We can show her that Morgan not going to try to do anything to us and that Maddy is needed. Thar we can depend on her.
>>
>>26144344
>implying we wouldn't order them to NOT kill everyone who walks in
>>
>>26144322
>>26144344
>>26144355
What these guys said. We don't have to worry about anyone entering the bakery.
>>
>>26144367

As a note, Level 1's, especially new ones are very simple creatures. Given orders must likewise be simple, and others may need to be reinforced.
>>
>>26144355
true, but don't say sickness. this is our only in to getting bread to funeral without suspision. keep everyone out and we can maybe get some of the family to the funeral as helpers to deliver the bread?
>>
>>26144382
fair point, but i think we can assume that like with Kama, the children and Edward we'd go ahead and put a default don't randomly kill for our new family members
>>
>>26144357
hm... but isn't Maddy working at the tavern? or is that just during the night?

>>26144367
>implying that no one will notice she isn't acting normally.
but, moving along, shop is already closed for the day. maybe we should come back later and make the stuff for the funeral since she most likely lost her ability to bake for the time being.
>>
A bit off topic, but am I the only one that finds it a bit odd that we encounter so many exorcist? They are supposed to be scattered all over the known world and they aren't exactly numerous.

I believe the church may have a way to detect akuma activity, so they can keep their forces where there are actual demons to fight. I don't mean the exact location, but the general area.
>>
>>26144427
yeah, if we show her some of the basics she can help
>>
>>26144464
in the 1400's, that might be the case. and besides, the known world isn't that big.
>>
>>26144490
might not be the case*
>>
>>26144464
remember, book time the whole world is known, her only a fraction is even known to most people
>>
>>26144507
*here
>>
>>26144464
also, they do have a way to detect akuma activity.

>what's that, you say? a bunch of people have been disappearing around this area? AKUMA!
>>
>>26144530
Yeah, we've been killing for a while and the Crimson already suspected the presence of demons.

It's just a matter of how long it takes for them to get a message out to the Order.
>>
>>26144464

I'lll let you know.

You're onto something. However...
It's not quite what you think...
>>
>>26144552
apparently, not long, since there is an Exorcist in town.
>>
>>26144267
also, I'm actually changing my vote to yes, take Maddy along if she is not busy working at the Tavern.
>>
>>26144490
The known world still includes all of Eurasia and north Africa.

Keeping 5 exorcists in the same area of England seems like a weird choice for the order.

>>26144530
Informations didn't travel really fast at that time.

>>26144571

There is something else that can see through our eyes right?
>>
>>26144571
There's the rub.
>>
>>26144571
we should develop this>>26144043, with one addition
>comes in two types, Battle and Recon
>Battle can grow and harden, and give minor bonus if eaten as said above
>while Recon loses these abilities and is small, quick and lasts longer while eating it allows you to "see" what it recon ed
>>
>>26144612
yes, but they might not be equally spread around the world. maybe they are having some trouble getting into certain places because of the locals.

who knows, maybe we'll be the ones who make it to Japan(Edo) and turn the majority of the population into Akuma
>>
>>26144681
>Herro Akuma chan, have you seen Duke sama?
>>
>>26144670
We might have to upgrade our Creation Oven a few more times before living bread becomes possible.
>>
>>26144681
We could also travel to the new world and convert the Aztec to akuma worshipping by mimicking their gods with our akuma form.

I jest I jest

Maybe not.
>>
>>26144726
>Oven is currently (5/5) on upgrades
>>
>>26144745
That's the Blast Furnace, not the Creation Oven.

That's Ash.

>>26144740
We are Quetzalcoatl, bring me dough for my bread mortals!
>>
>>26144740
Honestly, I'm looking forward to the point in time where we leave Europe.

But for now, we'll be stuck in this country until we investigate the other Noah locations.

It's now time for the evening-night events!

It might get easier if we upgrade the Creation Oven.

Like how the Prestige upgrade for our Smoke Magic lessened because we upgraded our Furnace.

You lounge about the bakery, preparing some ingredients for the day of the funeral while Andrea cleans her own blood off of the floor.. or rather.. her former lives' blood. That's an odd thought isn't it?

You mull over life after death once more.. After all, you are the afterlife for at least two people.. One chained inside you and being made to watch all of the horrible things that you do...

>Exp gained: 100
>Exp Total: 100

Ah, you feel her despair run through you now at the casual cruelty you just imparted unto a gentle baker... Indeed, it upsets you as well. Though that's absolved with the new baker added unto your growing family..

She rises from her work, the blood gone and into a basin of water. giving it a deep, muddy red color.
Looking to you, her expression is flat," What... Do... I... Do.. Next?" Slow, she tastes every word, almost as if she's trying to figure it out.

You finish off the tea that the duke had poured for you, and set the cup down before rising from the little table and strutting over to the dismal new akuma," My dear, you have done quite well. What say you..." With command in your voice," Lock the door after I leave and lay in bed until I return. Do not answer the door. Do not leave. Do not hunt.
Understood?"

The demon squints her eyes at you, before opening them wide," Yes... master... This..one.. understands. She will.. Do as.. You ask.. No... Command." She looks at the door and you leave, hearing it lock behind you... A smile broadens your face.
Oh, how this one will grow...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

After rounding up Maddie from The Lady's Rest, the two of you walk for some time, she tells you of recent rumors that the lords and other nobles will be warring again with the smallfolk due to some error in communication and the wrong men being shot by arrows. She giggles at that. Men warring amongst each other while demons walk their lands...

A miserable.. irony, isn't it?
>>
>>26144877
"Such a sad situation. What is the world coming to nowadays." Smile like your head is going to split in two.
>>
>>26144877
So that is what the armistice was for.
>>
>>26144877
So who are the smallfolk? I'm not too familiar with European history.
>>
>>26144877
>>26144877
>A miserable.. irony, isn't it?
Miserable irony or perfect opportunity? War brings death. Death brings tragedy. Tragedy brings the Doctor.

We must milk this war for all it's worth. Hello akumas made from sad widows and orphans.
>>
>>26144952
the pheasants, obviously.
>>
>>26144952
Anyone who is not a noble or land owner.
>>
>>26144877
It is kind of funny, if only they did that more often, and targeted the Crimsons.
>>
>>26144998
The Crimsons are easy enough to spot, so it seems unlikely.

Been far too long since we've had an old fashioned massacre.

War against the pheasants?

Talk about an idea straight out of a cuckoo's nest.
>>
>>26145036

>>26145041
I know, right!? those damn pheasants, always making noise and crapping everywhere. this also applies to peasants
>>
"Such a sad situation. What is the world coming to nowadays.." You say with a smile that splits your face.
She returns with her own, a deadly crescent.

She goes on ahead to the church, whilst you painstakingly change into Rickton and stash your armor elsewhere to proceed in your fineclothes.. Or rather, his, yours... Does it matter?

Fonso seems reluctant at first to go with you alone, yet he does so due to your rapport with him. He promises his brothers that he'll be back by nightfall, and off you go.

On the way, you inform him that indeed, the apostate hides within the church, harbored by the priest. He agrees to enter only after having her come outside to meet with him. A gypsy's trust very hard-earned...

Morgan wears a heavy black skirt and gray cowl outside to ward off the cold and snow, her approach is swift, and hurried. Obviously placing emphasis on her haste as part of the "act.." or perhaps...
"Hello there, greetings. I am the apostate that our mutual friend informed you of." A hand extended, long black painted nails almost like claws adorning her fingers. She whispers to him," We must hurry lest we be seen, come now, come now."
Fonso is wary a moment as he gives a sharp look to you, and then back to Morgan," Show me a spell first, quickly, and small."

With a roll of her eyes, she rotates a finger upon the air and generates a small black flame." Satisfactory?"
With a nod, Fonso follows on.

The three of you soon find yourselves in Morgan's where Madeleine awaits, already having liberated herself of her overcoat from the effort of appearing "normal" Nothing but a saucy maid's skirts and blouse to be found with her. "Hello there, I had been waiting to meet the boy.. Is it true friend? He bears such a mark? Let us see, let us see!"

Fonso appears immediately bewildered by the additional person, he turns to you," Not one, but two. Have you led me into the grips of a witch? Am I wrong to call you a friend?"

>To dispel a gypsy's fear..
>>
>>26145121
This woman is an assistant to the apostate. I'm too busy to get every little thing the apostate needs, the pastor has his duties to the church, and Morgan herself just can't walk around town. So this woman runs the errands for her instead.
>>
>>26145121
"Relax. she is just the wench from a local tavern that the Guard frequents, and a contact of mine. She is harmless, I assure you."
>>
>>26145121
Say that she is an acquaintance from your days at the church who was exiled alongside you, and she is there to guarantee that nothing that is not meant to happen occurs.

If you want to get fancy you can even say that she is the reason for the excommunication.
>>
>>26145121
embrace his shoulders and give him our best smile
<Wrong to call me friend, that hurts. While I'll admit my friends my be a bit...eccentric at times I hoped you would count yourself amoung them. Many people are shunned and hated by the church, but we must all hold strong togewther to survive. I promise, if anyone I know could tell us anything about your affliction its my friend Mordan. And as for Maddie, other then maybe getting a little friendly you have nothing more to fear from her then myself."
>>
>>26145192
this works too.
>>
>>26145200
>>26145192
Something between these two.
>>
>>26145210
No physical contact. I don't think we're at the point that we can comfort him with physical gestures of camaraderie. He needs logical and believable explanations. We'll give him those explanations.
>>
>>26145121
"My friend Fonso, if I have led you into the lair of witches then your hand must proclaim you a devil. All of us here have reason to avoid the eye of the church, and indeed the church very well may call all of us here heretics, heathens, witches, but none here are bad people.

The saucy one is a contact of ours, she listens in taverns among other things, and while she is an eccentric tart she is quite sweet once you get to know her.

And the lovely apostate knows more of magic than any other I know outside the Church and is not bound to their edicts and demands, I can think of no one else who could help you as she can.

Now calm yourself, it shall all be well."
>>
>>26145306
there we go, that's the one.
>>
You wave your hand at his suspicions, no need for any of that here after all," "My friend Fonso, if I have led you into the lair of witches then your hand must proclaim you a devil." You say with a sweep, regarding the two lovely ladies that now have their attention on you. Morgan with a raised eyebrow to you, and Maddie with a sharp glare at Morgan before looking to you with a relaxed, yet haughty expression.
You carry on," All of us here have reason to avoid the eye of the church, and indeed the church very well may call all of us here heretics, heathens, witches, but none here are bad people.. Well, save for myself." That gets a chuckle from Madeleine from the irony of the situation.

"The saucy one is a contact of ours, she listens in taverns among other things, and while she is an eccentric tart she is quite sweet once you get to know her.. If you catch my meaning." Fonso looks over at her, only to receive a wink from Maddie.
"He's right you know... I'm quite a.. warm person when you get to know me.. Speaking of which, I've heard little about you from Rick here."
Fonso sours his expression a bit, almost trying to hold back a smile, or perhaps his overall expression," Ah... I'm... Sorry. I'd lose my family if I found comfort in a woman that's not of the Romani... Rickton, Though, I can see where her place would ... come in with all of this.." He seems to concede at that.

"Good for you to calm yourself mate, all's well after all.." You take a swig of a wineskin, before raising it to Morgan,"Well then, you going to have a look at the man's mark or no? Fonso go on and show her."

The Gypsy removes the red cloth and reveals it to Morgan, whom looks upon it with an identifiably keen interest. She runs a few tests, intermingling her own magics with the mark, requesting approval and explaining her actions to the man, keeping his fears properly dispelled.
>>
As Morgan works, Madeleine scoots over to you, where you've taken to sitting upon a table, and places her head on your shoulder.

The two of you make further smalltalk and the like right up until Morgan finishes her.. ahh.. assessment. "You have met a demon in the past, and its claw pierced your hand, yes?"
Fonso says nothing to that.
"It reacts to the power of evil, you have felt it throb before in Rickton's prresence, yes?"
Still nothing.
"It's throbbing hard right now isn't it?"
Fonso blushes, and hard.
"You want to take it out, you want us to see its... power."
Fonso loses it, as does Maddie.
He's the first to get coherent however. With an accusing point at the Noah,"What the hell is upo with the way you're saying that?! It's... it's not throbbing it's just.."
Madeleine comes out of her fit, snickering," Hard?"
"Shut up!" The gypsy yells, throwing the marked hand to his face, the lines of the marks glowing a deep and deadly red..
"I'm feeling a power gather... Usually I use it to break something before it starts to hurt too much... It rarely gets like this.. and right now.. No, lately.. theirs been a lot going on.. And the power's... Built up? I guess you could say."

Morgan smiles madly at the man... Obviously she appreciates this turn of events...

>Anything you'd like to add?
>>
>>26145662
Oh my god.

All that innuendo.
>>
>>26145662
>Hard? Throbbing? What more could we add?
>>
>>26145662
Oh god Morgan.

You're too fucking innocent to be a mad scientist.
>>
>>26145662
Ask him about the demon he met. How did he survive that encounter?
>>
>>26145662
i don't have anything to add.
>>
>>26145662
"I'd be slightly worried about you if you get throbbing, hard, and built up in my presence instead it being due to these lovely ladies.

I kid, I kid. Fonso, could you tell us about the event that led to your hand becoming as it is now, the more we know the more we can help.

And you might want to show us your hand when you aren't holding it all in anymore, that could help us."
>>
>>26145742
This. In addition, ask if by breaking something he means punching, brute force, or is it something more unusual.

Perhaps we have something down here we could sacrifice to the hand... that glows with... gorram it. I see what was done there.
