'Farezz has brain damage!' Edition

"The untested grow weak.
The weak perish.
Those unwilling to change, fade into history."

Come and sit by the Flamestone pile, children!

Brief Recap:

The marauders attacked the Hive with vicious tenacity. Tunnelers were hit the hardest.
~
The hatchery was breached, with a small band making it past the lines of soldiers, hoping to kill Rozooll.
~
Through sheer size, intimidation, and no small amount of torture, the Queen warps the mind of the Captain, the only surviving marauder.
~
Through the horrifying, yet informative advent of vivisection, the Rozoolliim now know a great deal about human anatomy. [+5 on rolls vs. Humans]

Can we into part mammalia mutations?
>>
One Tunneler has survived and The Spire was slightly damaged in the attack.
There's currently a large amount of bodies littering the Oasis and Hive.
The Queen feels the strange, yet familiar sensation that can only mean mutation is just around the corner...

Scavenge-gather all bodies. Consume them!

Everyone else, restore our hive! Build the spire bigger, make the tunnels wider and longer!

>B) Worship our queen
>A) Scavenge the bodies, any who survive mind break them
>>
>>26161238
Set up PASSIVE ACTIONS now, like warrior patrols, passive food gathering, warrior training/sparring, hive expansion with the worm queen (the remaining tunneler can stay home for a bit until it fertilizes some eggs), Curious One research of anything lying around and especially any books from the town we took over, and having the cultists organize the insects in worship.

Stop mindbreaking survivors, the queen needs to conserve her energy.

Next evolution point proposed: Matrons. Details in next post.
>>
>>26161582
-Matron caste. This would be a strain of insects that fulfilled several functions, including that of lieutenants, which the questgiver mentioned previously, enabling them to increase the efficiency of an action passively; if we had one constantly on duty with the scavengers or the warriors or the workers, the actions they undertook would be likelier to succeed and bring in better results - nothing gamebreaking, just effective. Matrons would also add a small per-insect bonus to every clutch of eggs, as they would breed when the queen would provided they were close to the hive, adding one or two eggs to the clutch. They would function as replacements for the princess should something bad happen, creating further security, and potentially share the queen's ability to lay eggs that had the genetic qualities of creatures they ate, making them mini-bioreactors that let us try out various qualities; the queen would have to eat the resultant offspring for traits a matron created to be more widely adopted. They could also help us in recouping evolution points, which are rare and hard to get as it is, and manage well enough in combat to lead warrior packs without weighing them down.

To keep them from being overpowered, we would be required to maintain one of them for every ten or twenty adult insects or drastically lose hive efficiency, and could not have more than one of them for every five adult insects, creating a matron 'limit' - further upgrades might change these numbers, allowing them to become more effective. They'd also probably require a heap of food, due to the high metabolic requirements of their complex anatomy, and the death of a matron might send nearby bugs into a bad state, be a blow to morale, cause frenzy, or worse.
>>
>>26161607
This one likes this. Matrons will be good-great for our hive. Afterwards, perhaps invest into the longer-life span maybe-yes. Bugs only live a month right now yes-yes?
>>
>>26161607
I like the frenzy thing, sounds kinda like nids to me, with the cut off from the hive being jarring, even damaging to other insects.
>>
>>26161238

The Scavengers are sent throughout the Hive and Oasis above, looting any valuables that the marauders may have had.
Between the last battle and the poor upkeep of their weapons, only a handful are salvageable.
(+4 daggers, 5 swords, 4 spears, 2 bows, 1 magic weapon)
~
In light of this great, but costly victory, the Rozoolliim praise their Queen for her strength in battle. Their praises bolster her strength, fully recovering her Evolutionary fatigue.
~
While looting through the bodies, a total of 14 marauders are found to be alive, but wounded.
What shall be done with them?

>A). Let them live. They could prove useful.
>B). Kill them. They shall serve the Queen in death!
>C). Write-In
>>
>>26161704
I think we should mind break them/have our new slave tell them to do what he says
>>
>>26161704
C: Interrogate them
>>
>>26161704
Nah.

We can use them as a warning to others.

Keep them imprisoned, and release one once in a while to warn others not to fucking try to kill our kind and take their chitin and sell it to people.

Any that seem willing can also settle down in that town we depopulated, it probably needs more adult males. I suspect they're probably rough-and-tumble desert raiders, but this way we can get more use out of them.
>>
>>26161745
This-this. We must learn how malleable the marauder are. Having another group of humans that obeys us seperate from the town would be good-better.
>>
>>26161853
We already mind broke their leader and we know all he knows it is doubtful that they know anything more.
>>
>>26161881
Very well. We-us must do as >>26161826 says then. We msut have a stronger, healthier population in that town. Perhaps once we have matrons, we could send one or three there-there to keep an eye on things?
>>
>>26161704
Incorporate them into the swarm
>>
>>26161704
>>26161936
How about this we have the queen access their minds and erase their memories of who they were then we have our human cultists build them back up to worship us. More human cultists wouldn't hurt.
>>
>>26161980

Let's try it, but if we make this a regular thing and it angers someone capable of determining that we're doing this kind of stuff it will come back to haunt us.

Maybe the next large group of sentients we come across we shouldn't murder half of and eat much of the rest, especially if they have skills.
>>
>>26161980
This is best-best. We will have more cultists! But don't wipe the leader and make him a high priest or something. Put one of the old cultists in that position.
>>
>>26162083
We already got a high priest and the cultists we already have came to us to worship. :)
>>
>>26162079

A glorious fusion of man and insect, working together in harmony for the betterment of the hive!
>>
>>26161704

Deciding that there's already been plenty of marauders to devour, this group could prove resourceful in other ways.
They are brought before the Queen. Most appear fearful, likely assuming that they survived the battle only to become a feast for the great creature hulking above them. However, after a few moments, nothing happens. Rozooll strains herself and enters their minds. Images race by, the lives and memories of these dozen men flashing before her. Most seemed to have come from poor, peasant-like backgrounds. Apparently, at least a few only took up marauding as a means for money, with no true ties to a trade group or lord. With this in mind, should Rozooll...

>A). Warp them? Rozooll can attempt to Dominate them, like the Captain. Could ensure loyalty, however, there's always the moral repercussions.
>B). Extend an invitation among them. If they truly had no previous ties, then perhaps they'd be willing to make one to the Queen. A bit riskier than Domination, given that they'll retain free-will, but it looks better to any outsiders.
>>
>>26162237
>B) Definitely B
>>
>>26162237

These men were only following orders. A means to an end. The great benevolent deity she is, Rozooll extends to them an offer:
"You have slew my children and worn their hides to further your cause, but I am not without mercy. If you travel West to Kaalun and serve as guardsmen there, your lives shall be spared. Your wounds will be tended to until then. I will assume your answer is yes?"

The men, shocked, nod in disbelief. Perhaps they did not expect a monster as demonized as Rozooll to have a merciful side.
They are brought to the Arena to be tended to by the acolytes in the meantime.

>F) Hive Improvement
Make burrows around the desert where patrols, scavangers and exploration parties can wait out the night or sandstorms so we have some protection against the desert for our people even outside our hive. Tunnels that connect the burrows to the hive are optional since that would have the risk of someone else finding a burrow and going through the tunnel straight into the hive unless the tunnel or burrow itself was properly hidden. Then check the underground river.

eh, sure, dispatch them to help then.

>>
I'm proposing a rota of fertilization where we target the following proportions, in terms of which caste fertilizes what eggs. This is for when we've solved our current shortages:

1/4th workers (we need food, workers get food)
1/4th warriors (we need protection as a close second, and warriors keep dying, better replentish them)
1/8th tunnelers (oh man, these guys are useful and we need miners)
1/8th scavengers (let's collect more things, all of the things)
1/8th nomads (scouts are a good thing)
1/8th reserve/replacement of aging and dying members of other castes, determined as needed

Let's discuss it this round and implement next round.
>>
>>26163508
And obviously this won't get us perfect results, but with other efforts it should dial down the random factor.
>>
>>26163508
The next batch of curious ones will be fertile because of the last Evo we should work them into it perhaps onto the reserve slot.
>>
>>26163563
Someone confirm this and I'll switch down to fifths and tenths, with a clutch size reaching 30 eggs it'll be worth it.
>>
>>26163603
>http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26101977/
[Evolutions granted: 2 minor]
[Future generations of Curious Ones will now be fertile. Queens dig brainy guys.]
[Tunnelers have evolved small, grooved spines along their shell. They vibrate at intense frequencies, shifting the dirt with ease. 'Swimming' through sand and loose soil is now possible. Only 98% plagiarized!]
>>
Adjusting rota:

1/5th workers (we need food, workers get food)
1/5th warriors (we need protection as a close second, and warriors keep dying, better replentish them)
1/5th curious ones (oh god we gotta tech up)
1/10th tunnelers (oh man, these guys are useful and we need miners)
1/10th scavengers (let's collect more things, all of the things)
1/10th nomads (scouts are a good thing)
1/10th reserve/replacement of aging and dying members of other castes, determined as needed

Discuss and implement soon? Though the current clutches oughta be about replacing our shortfalls (warriors, workers, tunnelers)

The Oasis waters, seemingly forgotten, are tested at length by the Rozoolliim. Small, but tasty-looking creatures swim around inside. 'Fish', one acolyte deems them. How odd! After numerous failed attempts at catching them, the Warriors realize that spears make an excellent tool to capture fish. And they're very tasty!
~
Rozooll resumes laying eggs after what feels like an eternity. She lays a clutch of 10 eggs.

The 30 larvae grow into their shells. Of the 30:
12 are Warriors
9 are Tunnelers
5 are Workers
4 are Scavengers

While manning the broken Spire, a few Warriors note that several shadows have been seen. However...these are in the sky...

"The untested grow weak.

This one is sorry. This one will be more obedient. But this one insists that we send the shiny ore to the human-town. Can make into weapon-arms, will help warriors be mightier. Or perhaps tools. We also have extra food, perhaps can pay with excess food for labor of turning shiny-rocks into weapons-tools?

Implement rota here >>26163696 as a standard, but current clutches should be equal parts tunnelers, warriors, and workers for now.

Implement division of fertilization duties, allowing for broader genetic diversity. If we have three eggs to fertilize and select only the best warrior, that's fine, but we'd probably do better if we picked the best three warriors instead so any flaws one had would not be passed down to the entirety of the next generation. This translates into some kind of minor bonus, to make OP's life easier. (This means a flat bonus to actions of like +5 because we less inbred-incompetent and less random factor in clutches.)

Wall do not serve the same funtion as armor bub. I agree that in the long run individual techs will be pointless as our growth will overpower it, but generally beneficial things like farming methods, tactics and architcture will still benefit us and tools and weapons have a place while the hive is young. I am in favor of curious ones in rota
>>
>>26164205
It's a standard thing for them, they only pass on one set of genes per generation and that works in limited fashion.

We have the complexity going for it to be a factor now, just ask your local phylogeneticist.

I personally think we're getting to far into the technology tree here

We put a valuable evolutionary point in scientist fertility. Feels like its a bit of a waste
>>
>>26164295
That sounds like a vote for the rota next round, if not this round. THE HIVE NEEDS YOUR VOTE TO STOP THIS CRIPPLING INBREEDING, CAN WE COUNT ON YOUR SUPPORT?
>>
>>26164300
No what I'm saying is we should stop steering into the technology tree. For god sakes our chart even says we're shit in it. Why are we gonna specialize in shit when we could over come our technological needs with evolution?
>>
>>26164328
Then implement Rota and

>Hive improvement assign workers and tunnlers to make queens sanctum more temple like and larger so it is easier and more effective to worship.
>>
>>26164295
Rats, Mice, insects: don't suffer from inbreeding in reality
>>
>>26164364
We have to earn those points though...
>>
>>26164409
We earn them by consuming

Scientist fertility isn't gonna make that faster
>>
i say we evolve genetical memory, so we dont have to lose time training our soldiers nor training our workers, yet they are born with the knowledge of the past generations
>>
>>26164364
our chart says we're good at tech, what the fuck?
>>
>>26164364
Actually, our chart says were good at it. Diplomacy and magic ar our weak spots. Evolution is either slow or only partially controlled, both of which make it unable to cover everything. Plus, we cant evolve arhitchture or new farming tech
>>
>>26164364
Our chart says were the best at tech
>>
>>26164328
OP allowed it might make sense. Let's not be pasting this stuff at the drop of a hat.
>>
>>26164364
Because our technology was exceptional? It was our magic that was abysmal with only the queen being able to cast spells. Also evolving takes alot more effort, either need to get evolution points somehow (only ones we've gotten so far, are the 2 from consuming that god's heart and the 1 from racial trait) or alternatively find some unique lifeforms to consume which would require us to be able to actually find em and kill em. Evolution is more of a long term goal.
>>
>>26164364
>not trolling, just can't read
oh, okay
>>
>>26164430
we are good at tech, yes

does tech mix well with "hiper evolutionary insects", no

so we have a problem with people that want super tech, and the ones that want evolution as a form of tech
>>
>>26164486
...It synergizes fine. You need to check your privilege.
>>
>>26164395

>>
>>26164500
oh that was a overall overview, myself i believe we should evolve each caste to serve a "general purpose" and then use tech to put the specialty.

like evolving workers with several arms, and outifitting each arm with a different tool
>>
>>26164539
there is like twenty versions of that same chart
>>
>>26164139

sounds good, implement both if the second thing gives us a bonus

The larva grow into their shells. They're pretty weird lookin'...they have 6 limbs like the others, but they crawl and skitter around on all of them. They even display great skill at scaling the walls of the cave, even adhering to the ceiling itself...
What should this New Caste be called?

The 11 eggs hatch into larvae!

The strangers found in the desert were, after some time pantomiming, invited back to Greenhome, by the scouts. They don't seem comfortable around such strange creatures, but they are friendly, making conversation with the Harbingers, who also relay to the Curious Ones...

~
Rozooll tests her newly acquired Clairvoyance on the strange figures circling above the Oasis...there's only two of them, but they are massive flying creatures, with sharp talons and...a deep hunger in their eyes.

At first I thought you meant asking for the CV of the flyers and offer them jobs, but then I realised you meant the spell. It was a fun notion though.

Maybe we should ivest into tourism? All we need to do is extend the burrows of our patrols, establish some farming and a clean water source. It would improve our image towards outsiders, plus we could become a trade center.

The travelers have a pleasant talk with the Harbingers and Curious Ones. A lot of pleasantries are exchanged and the strangers reveal themselves to be rangers for a kingdom far to the south, on the border of a great 'jungle'. Whatever that is. When asked about the creatures circling above the Oasis, they retain their composure, but their tone becomes quiet serious:
"If there's only two of 'em, odds are it's a pair of Rocs. Nasty birds with an appetite as big as their wingspan. They must've liked the way you guys taste if they're stickin' around this long..."
They share a few more of their fruits in exchange for some mushrooms and fish, luxuries they've been without for some time, and even show the Workers how to cultivate the fruits.
They kindly excuse themselves after a day of rest and promise to send word of this to their king, when they return.

Lure the rocs down to the ground with a few dead insects, or a pile of dead fish, or some tunnelers that can retreat beneath the earth, or even the worm-queen as a last resort (she can probably survive their attacks.

Get them close to the hive, close enough to allow the queen to attempt mental domination, and have her dominate one into attacking the other. Once both are sufficiently wounded, we can have warriors shoot them with bows if necessary to subdue them further.

Once we get them properly beaten down, try restraining them and bring them before the queen for some real domination. If this fails, kill them and eat them, and save the feathers. Roc feathers are usually either valuable trade goods or magical components.

Combination of tunnelers, warriors, and scavengers

Allow the corpse to be on top of the densest part of the tunnel so that it doesn't collapse but when the creature comes in to feast the ground around it would collapse surprising it. Then the scavengers would go at its tendons on the wings and leg while the warriors are heavy enough to grab onto it and keep it on the ground long enough for the scavenger razor sharp arms to do its work
>>
>>26168118
Have the queen get in telepathic contact with the rocs and send them thoughts of food on the surface below, this should attract them to us.

Have the elf mage call down some lightning if he can, or just make loud explosions approximating thunder as best he is able, WHILE the queen is dominating one of the rocs. Fear should make them more confused and less able to resist.

At the height of the confusion, have our troops launch arrows at them.

>>
>>26168248
Construction wouldn't take long snares are simple and resource effective. However, I agree that using Elf binding magic is the most efficient option so far.
>>
So.
We call in all warrior patrols and set everyone spare to worshipping in an attempt to boost the queen's magic.

We bait them with a pile of fish, our own people on the surface maybe, and telepathically sent thoughts of food.

The elf uses his magic WHEN IT IS MOST OPPORTUNE to distract the rocs just as they're striking/taking the bait. This creates fear and confusion.

At this point we use mental domination to turn them on each other, and collapse the ground beneath them, to flush them into a tunnel.

We also attempt to tie their feet and maybe wound them with tunnelers or whoever has the best implements.

And we try proper mental domination, aided by any tricks the elf has.

A trap is set for the pair of Rocs, consisting of food stores (-3 Units of food) left out in plain sight. The Rocs descend and start squabbling over their meal, unaware of what was about to happen...
~
Ronin conjures a single, great stormcloud above the Oasis. A small flash lights up the area, followed by a deafening rumble...the sound unsettles the Rozoolliim, but not nearly as much as the Rocs, who just expected a quiet meal. They panic, letting out cacophonous squawks. They're completely unaware of the next stage of the trap...
~
Cowering from the sudden formation of thunder clouds above them, the Rocs snap at each other, fear driving them to turn one one another. As their squabble rages on, they're totally unaware as the ground beneath them caves in. Rozoolliim come flooding from the mouth of the Hive, readying the next stage of the trap...
~
Attaching ropes to the Crawlers, they start to skitter around the great feathered beasts, slowly tying them down. They thrash in a panic and in the confusion, kill a few of their attackers...however their mental defenses are weak in their fear, priming them for the final stage of the trap...
~
Rozooll, in tandem with the worship of her children in the hatchery, seizes the opportunity to reach out and dominate the creatures above her. She's able to easily reach into the mind of one, but both at once is too much for Rozooll to handle. However, with this one under her sway, she could...

>A). Kill the other Roc. With it bound, it would be relatively simple. However, if it gets free...

If that's not an option either, may as well let it go. Killing off potential mates for our roc is not a good idea.

If we can tell they're the same sex, though, just kill the other roc and eat it.

How big are the Rocs?

How long can we keep the panicking one binded? It'd be bad if it broke loose while it was in our tunnels.

>>26168892
>>26168849
Other anon says we don't have a sleep spell, but that wasn't what we were thinking of.

Up to what degree of control do we have over our dominated creatures? Telling one to go to sleep is different from a sleep spell, right?
>>
>>26168849
We don't necessarily need a sleeping spell from the elf. Anything that would help the panicking Roc calm down would help.
>>
>>26168694

Rozooll attempts to calm the dominated Roc down...it loosens up considerably, allowing it to be dragged into the Arena below ground. The other is still struggling against its bindings, attempting to free itself. Rozooll is still having to maintain a level of control over the first Roc. The other doesn't seem to be able to break free, though.
~
It seems as though the Rozoolliim have acquired two rather...unorthodox pets. That second Roc may be a problem, though...
>>
>>26168981
Gotta first determine who is the male and female

If both are same sex eat one and tame the other to be a mount. If not get them to breed with each other and out comes an egg
>>
>>26168981
Get the first roc into an enclosure, seal the exits, and dominate the second roc.

Helo from worshipers and the elf mage may be of use. Maybe the acolytes know more magic than just how to make a cult ritual work.
>>
>>26168981
>Rozooll is still having to maintain a level of control over the first Roc. The other doesn't seem to be able to break free, though.

Wait, I'm a bit confused about this. Was the first sentence supposed to refer to the second, panicking Roc and the second sentence to the first dominated one?

Regardless, we may want to spend a turn on improving our control over the wilder one.

Also on finding their nest, if they have one. If they have any children, it'd be good if we could tame them.
