Let's see, news.

Next week's run is kind in the air- long story about that, it depends entirely on how I feel after the weekend. Short story long, I'm having my dog put to sleep on Thursday, and anticipate feeling like shit. Not fishing for sympathy, just warning y'all.

Still working on the writer's pack, it's up to five pages solid and growing, with another couple files. Trying to edit out a lot of the overall plot notes and leave the stuff I figure people would want. worst case there, I'll say just come yell at me in IRC.

Archives are here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Strike%20witches%201989
and the pastebin primer is here: http://pastebin.com/zFxWNup1

The primer works pretty well as a jumping in point if you don't want to archive binge. If you just wanna jump in, just ask, either I or someone else will help ya out with what's going on. Anyway, that's it for news.

++

You can't help but wonder why it is that every doctor in the history of ever keeps their exam rooms so damned cold.

The Coast Guard bird landed at their LAX station- the pilots flying low over the buildings of the airport, trying to not interrupt the Civilian flight pattern. You were both there long enough just for their medics to make sure Katya wasn't going to bleed to death- there had been some worry that a bone fragment had nicked her femoral, but after waking up- and taking enough painkillers to shut down several small mammals- she seemed well enough for the flight to the naval hospital at Pendleton.

You were sent along- you hardly even bothered protesting. While you do honestly feel fine- if sore- it's standard. You're lucky and you know it, though. Most people are out of the air for weeks, if not months following an ejection, and that's just on medical. No doubt they’ll be a board of inquiry on this one, and they may ground you for a good, long time while that's going on... maybe strip you of your flight status completely.

1/2
>>
You can't help but feel that it would kill you if they did. It'd definitely kill your desire to stay with the navy, witches or no.

A few X-rays later, and you're pretty sure you're going to glow green in the dark, but the doc says you're fine- improbably so. Other than the colossal bruise on your ass, you've basically gotten out without a scratch. Now, after talking with him, and rejoicing in the fact that he wasn't going to recommend you be removed from flight status on medical grounds, you sit on in the cold ass exam room, your flight suit open to your waist and your gear laying in a small pile on a chair. Outside, you can clearly hear Nixon and Ice talking with the doc- probably best to brace yourself now, you think.

The door creaks open and Merlin flies in, planting herself squarely just below your ribcage. “Frank!” She exclaims, her voice cracking. “T-They told us what h-happened and I was afraid you... afraid you-”

She buries her face in your chest, crying. You kind of muse that when she's done, your undershirt is going to be even less effective dealing with the cold, soaked through with tears as it's liable to end up. Ice steps inside the door, stepping to one side as Nixon walks in, closing the door behind him.

He regards you briefly before sighing. “Well, son, you're the luckiest driver I think I've ever known. We've got a crew flying out now to look at that wreckage, but it sounds like it's spread all over the end of the field on San Clemente and out in the water off the end of the runway. What happened up there?”

[x] “Don't know, sir. Felt like the bird just quit on me.”

You shake your head. “I don't know sir. Honestly, I've never even heard of a cat acting like that. It felt like it just... quit on me.” you shrug. “You know how sometimes you can tell planes want to fly? It felt like this one didn't.”

Nixon nods. “I know the feeling very well, son, but I can't tell a board of inquiry that.”

You shrug. “Honestly, sir, I've got nothing else. My board didn't even tell me what was going on until after Goose gave us a visual, and it's not like I was really pushing the aircraft that hard- just a couple of yo-yos, that was it. I was thinking sabotage, but they'd have to hit practically every reserve bird on base, and even then there's no guarantee I'd be flying a cat.”

“And Lieutenant Mitchell's high speed pass?” He prompts.

You shake your head again. “Sir, if that did anything, then they need to decertify the entire reserve fleet. You're telling me a supersonic jet can't handle a supersonic shockwave?”

Ice speaks up- the first time she's done so. “It was still reckless and irresponsible, and I'll be talking with her.” She says.

...we chose not to eject earlier. If we had (no comment on whether or not it was the "right" decision) then maybe we could be worrying about this
>>
>>26195689
That's not the problem. The problem is the witches would've had to be fucking on top of us to catch us before we get the ground, needlessly endangering themselves.
>>
Nixon sighs again. “Alright, son. Let's assume the salvage team is going to find it was an unrelated mechanical failure. What happened after the engine flamed out?”

“I thought I could still save the bird, sir.” You say, sadly. “We only punched out when I felt the right side start to dip, when it started that roll. If it hadn't done that, we'd still have the plane, not a wreck.”

Nixon and Ice look at each other, and even Merlin stiffens somewhat.

“Son...” Nixon says, hesitantly, looking back at you. “Son, both of the witches and the coast guard crew say you punched out as the bird was still skidding sideways, a couple of seconds before it started to roll.”

[] “They must be mistaken, sir. We only ejected when it started the roll.”

The Cat was behaving funny but we were just putting that up to us not having flown that plane in awhile. It seems to me that it is implied that we were given a plane meant to fail or one that had serious problems with it. We should wait till analysis of the wreckage before we fully conclude that we over flew the plane, doubly so since Frank seemed pretty relaxed and was just putting the planes through the motions and not doing anything really crazy.

Cracking a joke is inappropriate, and seriously suggesting we can see into the future regardless of canon is outlandish.

[x] “They must be mistaken, sir. We only ejected when it started the roll.”

You shake your head. “Sir, they must be mistaken. We only ejected when it started that roll.”

“Frank...” Ice says. “What did your instruments say? What about the horizon?”

You frown, trying to remember. “I can't remember. It was all pretty fast.”

Nixon sighs. “Look, son. If this were coming from anyone else, I'd accuse them of ejecting when they screwed up and things got too hot for them. Coming from you, though, and after hearing what these girls have said about you...”

Ice grimaces. “Sir, I'm not letting those cloak and dagger freaks get hold of my pilot.”

Nixon laughs, looking over at Ice. “I hardly think the brotherhood is cloak and dagger freaks, but he's certainly your pilot.” He turns to you. “Listen son, I only came here to see how you were doing and get your side of things.”

“We,” he indicates himself. “Can't touch you. Old deal with the witches- if we stick a pilot in with them, he's got most of the same privileges as one of them. Part of that is we can't ground you- only your commander can. What we can do is bar you from all aircraft that don't belong to your squadron. That's already been done, sorry son.”

You sigh, suddenly saddened. Yeah, you'd outgrown tomcats, but they're still your first jet, damnit. Still, you put a half-smile on. “Sounds like a good deal for the pilot.” You say.

“And I want two things out of you,” he continues, ignoring you for a second. He holds up two fingers. “First, I want you to tell me you understand that multimillion fighter aircraft aren't your personal toys. Second, I want your word that You'll never do something like that again.”

You grimace, aware of what Nixon's doing for you. “Of course, sir. I'm sorry you had to ask.”

He waves that off. “Son, I was your age once too. Things are just different when an airplane costs several million dollars instead of a couple hundred thousand. Just make sure it doesn't happen again, got it?”

You nod. “Yes sir.”

He sighs and grins. “Well son, I'm glad you're both ok. Miss Litvyak just got her cast fitted.” He chuckles. “Ya know, witches are a funny bunch. She turned the most amazing color of red when they cut her flight suit off her leg.”

He grins again. “Nice leg, at that.” he chuckles. “Alright, son. I need to go back to the office and handle this board. Commander, make sure our boy here gets some rest. I'll give you a yell if the brotherhood plans to pay him a visit.”

Ice nods. “Will do, sir.”

Its either sabotage or our gnome powers literally ruining every plane we fly, the former being not our fault and the latter being completely out of our hands and almost completely unforseeable. Either way we need to get someone to take an actual serious look at things and never ever fly without Merlin.

You shake your head. “No excuse, Ma'am. I should have known better.” You say, trying both to placate her- a futile gesture, you know- and because it's the truth. You should have known better- but from what?

Ice is clearly not placated. At all. “Hmph.” she grunts. “You're not getting it out of it that easily, Frank.” She says. “You know what happened when they said you'd crashed again?” She gestures to Merlin.

“Samantha about lost her mind, Rachel disappeared, even the twins- the Twins! Were running scared for a bit. We didn't know what had happened until Goose managed to get a call in, and that was only after she'd landed at LAX.”

She pauses. “We thought we'd lost you all over again.” She says, her voice a tiny whisper.

[x] “It'll take a lot more effort than that for you to get rid of me, boss.”
[x] (apply hug.)

You hop off the table, taking a second to hug Merlin reassuringly before zipping up your flight suit and grabbing your gear.

You stop by the door and enfold Ice in a hug- doing your best impression of Slider. She wheezes.

“It'll take a lot more effort than that for you to get rid of me, boss.” You say, quietly. “But something about this whole thing doesn't feel right. I want Merlin to investigate the wreck if she can.”

Ice shakes her head, but returns your hug. “That's way beyond our authority.” She says. “Admiral Nixon hinted that they think there's criminal negligence, at the least. Jets don't just quit like that, do they?”

You let go of her and step back. “No,” you growl. “They don't. That's why I want Merlin to help if she can. She can talk to it, at the very least find out if they were doing something they shouldn't have been.”

“I- Yeah. I'll see what I can do.” Ice says, nodding and, amusingly, trying to not be completely blatant about trying to re-inflate her lungs. “Listen, I have to talk to Patty and Nicole.”

She pauses. “Talk to, not chew out. I'll save that for later, just so everyone else is clear on why we're not doing this anymore. Why don't you go collect our wayward Russian and see if she's good enough to head home yet.”

[] “Got it, boss. I wanted to go check on her anyway.”

>>
>>26199971
Perhaps we can test a variety of topical applications to see if certain substances increase or decrease the conductivity of the magic. Of course, we'd have to set it up as a totally different experiment with it's own paramaters and testing phases. We wouldn't want to spoil the results of the first.

[x] “Got it, boss. I wanted to go check on her anyway.”

“Got it boss.” You say with a nod. “I wanted to go check on her anyway.”

Merlin hops down, wiping her eyes on a paper towel and blowing her nose. She follows you out the door, a step behind you, if just barely.

“S-she's upstairs.” Merlin supplies, but otherwise, she's quiet. For some reason, you get the feeling that, of the people involved, she's taking it the worst. Shades of Alaska, indeed.

Upstairs, the duty nurse points you to a room- where Katya and a doctor are talking. She notices you, and the doctor half turns, nodding to her before leaving the room. You notice her room is damn near bone-chillingly cold too. The hell is it with hospitals and cold?

“Hello Frank.” She says sounding somewhat subdued. “Are you hurt?”

You shake your head. “I came up to see how you were doing.”

She smiles slightly. “Broken in two places. It is difficult to control where you are going with a parachute. Goose has asked if I would like her help, but I am thinking of letting it heal naturally. I could use the time off, no?”

“S-So you're coming home with us?” Merlin asks.

Katya smiles, more genuinely this time. “No, not yet little sister. I will stay here overnight and allow them to look at the bones some more. The doctor has said they are worried that if one of them shifts incorrectly, it could sever an artery and I would not live to make it to treatment. They do not think it is very likely, but they are insistent.”

She shrugs, slightly. “I need the time here to think about some things anyway. But if you do not mind, I am rather tired. Thank you for coming to check on me.”

You nod and step out, closing the door behind you.

“Did she seem sad to you, Frank?” Merlin asks as you walk back towards the elevators.

You shrug. “She's on a lot of painkillers right now,” you say. “They juiced her up pretty good at the station. It can screw with you.”

Merlin nods. “I believe you.” She says. “But I think I'd rather leave it at that.”

You laugh, ruffling her hair over her protests.

She uses a puff of breath to blow a loose strand out of her face and grimaces at you. “Well, what are we going to do all week, Frank? They're still working on our jet.”

[] Well, we could always go visit the colonel. He's asked me about meeting you before, and they didn't tell me I couldn't fly civilian owned planes.

I confess I'm getting feeling of really bad Dread now. we must cheer up Katya ASAP. that and we need to get Goose or a healwitch on her leg asap as well.
>>
Alright, so ghost hinted in an earlier thread that of the 3 main girls, 2 of em have some kinks.

Slider I would peg as the most vanilla in the sack of the three. Her flirtatious, crazy attitude is probably a front so that others wont see her crippling low self esteem. The only type of men she seems to attract (save our steel winged hero) are the ones who view her rambunctiousness as looseness, which only goes to reinforce her negative self view. Most likely will be very reserved, and request the lights off, or at least until Frank can help her shed her metaphorical skin.

Katya is clearly an exhibitionist. While not quite to the level of the friendly neighborhood Ruskie Stalker, Katya clearly holds Frank dear to her heart. So much so that she would clearly flaunt their sexual escapades for the squad to see that Frank is, indeed, HERS. Plus, she is Russian, and god knows how fucked up they are.

Ice on the other hand is a whole shit ton of kinky. Major daddy issues will probably lead to incest roll play, or at the very least she will call Frank "Daddy" at some time during coitus. Plus, the fact that she in a position of power over others probably means she is super submissive in bed (much like how CEO's and other powerful men tend to be). She wants, nay, CRAVES domination.

She asked Fronk to leave personally. Right now just isn't a good time, they want to keep her under observation for tonight. They will do it, that's why we have hospital's so some is always available. When she gets home, we can talk to her then, but don't rush it.

Has she ever been that badly hurt before? She might still be recovering from shock, so don't think too much into it, trust the doctors and nurses to take care of her. If we put on a positive outlook and keep it up when she returns it will rub off on her, we can't go suicide watching her just because she's a little sullen.

Trust me, let it go, let the doctors do their thing, we'll bring her back to base the next day, put the crash behind us for the most part, and help Katya get better. While she's resting maybe we can read her a book or start to learn russian with her help.

It would do her good to talk to someone in her native language, and if we do well, we can impress Konstantina with our tongue.

[x] I don't know, Merlin. Why, did you have something in mind?

“I don't know, Merlin.” You say with a shrug. You're kind of surprised by Katya's reception- you'd figured she'd at least be slightly more happy to see you. You blame it on the painkillers.

“Did you have something in mind?” You ask.

Merlin hesitates and then nods. “I- I think I'd like to go talk to Admiral Mackintosh.” she says. “I... Frank I was so scared when they said- said you'd crashed.”

She's not tearing up again- not quite- but you can tell it's coming. “I... I just don't know what- what I'd do if you d-died.” She says. “A-and they said I could always talk to them if I wanted and...”

You hug her before she can continue, pulling her up off the ground. “I'll have Ice get us passes. And drive us up there tomorrow.” You say. She nods, weakly returning your hug.

“I-I'm sorry Frank.” She says. “I-it's just that...”

“Don't worry about it, kiddo. We'll go talk to them, then go see Santa. You'll feel right as rain.” You say, reassuringly.

“T-Thank you.” She sniffles.

You set her down. “Ya know, I should have asked you to fly before I got grounded. I know all this stuff on the ground has to be boring.”

She smiles weakly. “I-I don't mind. It's not that bad, I spend a lot of time down in the hangar with the crew working on our jet.”

She grins a little more strongly. “M-maybe if you didn't spend all your time flirting with the rest of the witches-”

“Shhh, Merlin. Hear that?” You interrupt. “Know what that sound is?”

Merlin edges a step away from you as the elevator slows to a halt. “W-what?”

“PLANE RIDES!” You yell, snatching her up off her feet and running out of the doors.

she's already did that back in Alaska. but it could be chalked up to a tail-crushing as well.

Because he is a sexual sadist. You know that funny feeling you get when Rin does that thing with her mouth you like? He gets those from hurting people. And he likes to use electricity to do it.

You mean boners right? And just because Slider hasn't kissed anyone doesn't mean that she didn't get bullFucked by a big strap-on ied at witch school.

I'm sorry, I don't get boners from rape.

>not a strap-on dragon dildo

All lewdness aside. I think we should narrow in our focus on Ice and konstantina. Force a confrontation, either KGB will win and we'll go to carry off our wounded Ice while Konstantina is happy she's proven herself for her "love".

Or Ice wins, and Konstantina feels unworthy of us because at her pinnacle she was beaten by a mere american witch with Frank watching. We then offer her the chance of joining her comrade at the base and taking a new shot at life, while we escort our boss home.

Either way we win and wind up with us licking the Icing off the cake. and Konstantina is happy or defected and recovering happy.
>>
>>26202415
Nah I'm just messing with you guys. I don't really mean to hurt anyone's image or anything like that. This is just some after thread fun. Personally I love ll the girls in a completely platonic way and hope that they all find happiness.

To be honest, I want a Russian Witch Cat-Fight more.

Because.

In the air multi-witch furball that ends in them all deciding to gang up on Frank when he lands?

Bonus points for Katya having a tiger familiar.

I guess Katya takes what ever she can get.
>>
>>26202437
I could actually see this happening, it feels like a strikewitches thing to me and would have tactical significance too, it gives us a shot at taking out one of the top opfor witches in the world and a chance at another defection. Or Ice learns she has to step it up, she will either break and leave the airforce, or toughen up after we give her some...orDers and go back to it till she wins.
>>
>>26202552
I honestly don't see the appeal for her. What's the rationale behind it?
>>
The sad thing about the whole waifu-war thing? I used to like Katya. I really did. I was really, honestly torn on whether to support her or Ice. But seeing the way her fans acted just... well, it killed her for me. And that's why I'm an Icefag to this day.
>>
>>26202600
What, the appeal for Katya as waifu?
>>
>>26202605
war never changes
>>
>>26202552

Well, to her, Frank's interesting. He's the first guy she's really been around that doesn't care she's a witch, couldn't tell her Grandmother from Jesus (well, maybe he could tell her from Jesus, he'd have trouble if it were between her St.Mary though), He's good to the others, and he's got a natural heroic streak she likes.

now, if you had said the twins.......
>>
>>26202619
Yeah. I mean I get the whole 'granddaughter of CANNOT HAVE' but... Is that it?
>>
>>26202594
I'm split between Konstantina and Ice like this guy>>26202605 and I would love to see a combat to determine who should recieve frank's reciprocation. Of course the way it is now, Konstantina doesn't stand a chance.
>>
>>26202642
I know that this is still Cold War America, but didn't some of the crazy shit that the SWQ-501st got up to make it into the history books, even if Sanya was a russkie? Or was it all classified/Fronk never was into history
>>
>>26202011
and when all the talk about the other girls and Merlin is left out? well, i guess she likes to watch it all.
>>
>>26202594
>airforce
Bitch you'd better take that back. We are in the mother fucking NAVY, and don't you EVER forget that.
>>

Oi, oi.

No worming Slider out of the romance options!
>>
>>26202699

Frank's actually a history buff, but he kinda narrowed himself down to the pacific theater. the stuff the 501 got into did, in some cases, make it into the history books, though a lot of their activities were black.

that said, several witch comix series were made following them post war.
>>
I personally don't really care who Frank ends up with since all the girls are cute in their own way. I just want something to happen already the constant arguments back and forth are grueling.
>>
>>26202494
>all decide to gang up on Frank when he lands

I see nothing wrong with this.
>>
>>26202753
Oh, I love this part about the comics.
