Let's go for some more VALKRIAN MERCS QUEST!

Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

You are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home.

You first arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact, and figh off an Imperial amphibious invasion by defeating their leader, Belkan Knight Sir Fleisher.

You then moved on to Ustio, where you helped the beleaguered defenders fend off an Imperial offensive and stage a counterattack ending with the defeat of the Knight leading the Imperial forces in the area, breaking the back of the Imperial offensive.

You then returned to Gallia to help the Loyalists fight the GRA and rescue Archduchess Cordelia. You also finally decided to move on from your past and start a relationship with your longtime friend and XO, Sam. Now, you've been recruited by Lynch to destroy two Valkrur superweapons. You already managed to destroy Stonehenge, and all that is left is Excalibur.

Oh, and you asked Sam to marry you, and she accepted. Nothing possibly bad can happen from this, right?

You're now participating in the Federations offensive into Belka, in an attempt to take pressure off the main offensive in the Round Table, as well as destroy Excalibur.

And now, having just liberated an entire camp of Darcsen prisoners from Imperial captivity, you're left to deal with what would probably be the most challenging part of the mission, helping Tarin deal with her father issues. You don't really know the full story, but you know that she's nervous about her father's opinion on her life choices, something you unfortunately don't have much experience in. However, Tarin was pretty much family at this point, so you were determined to stand by her no matter what.

By the time you get back to Fardan, the majority of the Darcsen prisoners had already been shipped to the rear. Those supply trucks weren't going wait for them, after all. However, a small number of them, the captured fighters, had opted to stay, and Tarin's father was one of them.

The other Demons begin disperse to take care of other duties, but Tarin stays by your side.

"I... I don't know if I can do this, sir." Tarin bites her lip. "What if he gets mad at me?"

"Then my extreme disapproval will be the least of his problems." You ruffle Tarin's hair, something that would suicide for most other men. "You're damn good at what you do, if and that's what you want to keep doing, then nobody has any right to say otherwise."

"A-alright." Tarin nods. "Let's go then."

Well, you're sure and and Tarin can handle this by yourselves. Plus, you doubt Tarin wanted anybody else getting tangled in her personal problems. Hell, you're pretty sure the other Demons genuinely believed she didn't have any. You both make your way back to the quarter of town where the partisan fighters have made camp. This time, however, you don't get any glares or stink eyes, but instead respectful nods and salutes as you pass. Seems like word of your liberation of Daznow spread pretty quick.

You then reach the hotel Mack and his men have commandeered as a temporary headquarters. The guards at the door let you in without a second glance, and Mack is there to greet you.

"Great timing. Edwin's ready to see you two." Mack says, leading you through the lobby. "Careful, though. He's still a bit under the weather from the camp conditions."

"Is he okay?" Tarin asks, panic creeping into the edges of her voice.

"Ah, nothing some food and a couple days rest can't handle. You of all people should know it would take more than a week or two of imprisonment to do him in!"

"Right..." Tarin nods absentmindedly.

Man, she really was almost a completely different person whenever her father was mentioned.

Mack leads you to one of the suites, where you see the apparently infamous Edwin of the Winter Wolves sitting up in a bed, reading a stack of papers while chewing on a piece of bread. The man certainly had a work ethic, that was for sure. He turns to see who came into the room and his eyes widen and the bread drops from his mouth.

"Tarin?"

"Dad!"

You actually don't even see Tarin move. It's like she's next to you one moment and suddenly she's embracing her father on the other side of the room. Absolutely terrifying.

"And who's this young man here?" He asks, nodding his head toward you."

"I'm her commanding officer, and her friend." You say, saluting. "Captain Jager Sturmfuhrer of the Demons of Randgriz."

"Commanding officer...?" Edwin's frowns as the gears turn in his head and he finally makes the connections his paternal instincts had made him overlook. "Tarin! What have you done?!"

Tarin suddenly shrinks away, as if she'd received an electric shock. "I-I came back to find you!"

"Why would you do that?!" Her father frowns. "We risked so much, sacrificed so much, to make sure you could live a peaceful life, and now here you are, back in the middle of a warzone! What were you hoping to accomplish?!"

Tarin blinks and tries to say something, but it looks as if she can't quite get the words out of her throat.

Unfortunately the Empire didn't want to wait. The Invasion of Gallia left many without peace and without a choice *wince a little at that*. I understand you tried your damndest to get her to safety and I can respect that, but you need to understand that we're part of your fight now, whether you like it or not. It's a shame but now we all have to make sure your efforts weren't in vain, this war needs to end and we're close to being able to making sure it does.
>>
>>26278380
Seeing your subordinate was in need of assistance, you step forward and put a reassuring hand on Tarin's shoulder, which immediately ceases her trembling. You then look at Edwin, with your own look of severe disapproval to match his.

"A few things sir. First off, Tarin made the same choice as anyone who could -to find her family. Second off, She will have a peaceful life. My noble homestead has been restored as a school, and it will need teachers. Any Demon who wishes will be able to live and teach in safety and comfort with their families"

Edwin looks at you, and then Tarin, and then sighs.

"Fine. I can accept that Tarin is in a military unit, but I have important information pertaining the facility holding Excalibur, but my one condition is that Tarin not participate in the mission to attack it.

>>
>>26278670
>You're going to tell us regardless.

I can appreciate you don't want your efforts going to waste after all this, but consider everybody else in this war that have lost homes family or even their very lives. This war needs to end, we're so close to ensuring it does and you want to begin making deals that could potentially put that hope in jeopardy?

I'm afraid we're all out of choices now either this mission succeeds or it fails, whether it does or doesn't is entirely up to you Edwin.

Edwin blinks at those words and looks at both you and Tarin. You suddenly realize what he must be thinking.

"Um, nothing like that, sir. My fiance is somebody else." You say a bit too quickly.

At that, Tarin suddenly turns crimson red and turns away so that you and her father won't see. You hear Mack in the background trying, and failing, not to burst out into laughter.

"The point is, sir, is that I trust Tarin to keep herself alive and I trust my squad even more to be there for her if something does happen. Edwin stops and think long and hard, and then finally looks back at his daughter.

"Tarin, do you really want this? Do truly want to fight?"

"If it's to protect my friends.... and my family, yes." Tarin says, her confidence returning. "I'd do anything to make sure you, or the Demons, don't get hurt. Even if it means putting my own life on the line."

Edwin sighs. "I guess this is what I get for sending away my little girl. She's grown up so much when I wasn't looking."

"But, it's not to say you didn't do the right thing!" Tarin says. "Gallia was -is- a really great place! I was just hoping that you'd come with me there someday."

"Train..." Edwin smiles and then turns to you. "Okay, I guess I've changed my mind. Give me a few minutes and we'll organize a meeting with your general."

Both you and Tarin are then shooed out of the building. The moment you're outside, you see Tarin give the biggest sigh you've ever seen, as if she had been holding her breath the entire time.

"Thanks, sir, you really helped me out there." She says. "I'm really sorry about dragging you into my personal problems."

>>26279373
Actually I think people were torn until Sam revealed her feelings and then her getting shot. Those things alone easily tipped the scales.
>>
>>26279303
>>26279401
Merc said all routes were possible.

We just didn't take it during the "date". We could have ended up with Heloise too during the time she was drunk in Ustio but we didn't take that one either.

It was when Sam forced us to choose that we actually had to choose something.
>>
>>26279388
It hasn't officially happened. But we joke about Tarin x Ramirez and how their progeny would be gods among men. And they've been seen hanging out more together. (Don't know why Brilliant is there too, except he could use more scenes)
>>
>>26279457
I kind of wanted to wait after dealing with Karla to choose a romantic route but after Sam confessing her love and getting shot. It did tip the scales to say yes.

Not that it's bad, but with a bunch of interesting cast of female characters, it always leaves you thinking what if?

Well, honestly, you're kind of wondering what Ramirez is up to. You suspect he's still running that little fight club of his, so you decide to go check it out. It's right where you saw last time, though there were even MORE people there, if that was even possible. You even note quite a few Darcsen partisans in the crowd, as well as the ring.

"Yo! Boss!" You see Ramirez wave you over.

"Hey Ramirez, looks like your little side business is booming." You say.

"Yep! Totally called it, you know. These guys needed to blow off some steam, so I provided the market for it!"

"Pretty ingenious."

"Well, just gotta think like them, is the secret."

"So, think like a simple meathead, right?" You grin.

"Sure, I'll help you guys out." You say, rolling up your sleeves. "Who're we fighting?"

"Only the biggest and meanest Ustians these losers could drum up." Ramirez motions to the other side of the ring.

You see a massive mountain of meat that only superficially looks like a living person, sitting on a poor wooden stool that's clearly straining underneath his weight. Flanking him is a very familiar looking Ustian you clearly remember made threats against one of your squad and tried to sexually harass another. You see he's a lot more muscled than the last time you saw him, and you're pretty sure you don't need three guesses to know why.

The thing about spice is something I can agree with but it's true that many romantic couples tend to get less interesting after finally getting together due to there usually no longer being an obvious conflict between them. Stories kind of thrive on conflict so it can get pretty boring if something isn't there.

Well, you couldn't let Ramirez upstage you like that. Your MANLY PRIDE depended on it. You're not even sure what that's supposed to mean, but the moment you stepped into the ring you weren't exactly thinking quite clearly.

You pull your own shirt off, much to the delight of the female spectators, and the simmering jealously of quite a few male ones. Ramirez gives you a respectful nod.

"You ready to do this?" You ask.

"I was born ready, Boss." Ramirez responds.

"Ramirez, let's kick their fucking asses."

Eh, I don't think spice is all there is... And while our relationship with Sam has been progressing, something about it feels very one dimensional. Jager may be putting his past behind him, but has he matured or grown? And maybe that's asking too much from a blunt instrument obsessed with ending the war at present.

>>26281258
I'm sorry to complain. I like Sam for the most part. But does she have ambitions? While admirable that she has stood by Jagger so long and that she overlooks his simplemindedness and incapacity to do paperwork, what does she get out of the deal? When did she start falling for Jager? Why? That seems like stuff that is important that never got fleshed out.

I voted for the Sam route. And while "I like you" and "I like you too" is beautiful in an "I accept you unconditionally" sense, it doesn't seem like a strong reason for being in a relationship without an explanation of the development up to that point... because some relationships dont even get to that unconditional acceptance.

Also, ferris wheels, big breakfasts, walking in the park and binge drinking are okay... but it can be a little mundane and we ARE gearing up for the final battle. Doing something that stands out from the small but significant moments would be important - especially if one of us could die in the battle for the end times.
>>
>>26281258

Why don't we just have Jager and Sam have a meaningful conversation and then have sex after the scene fades to black, and we pick up from the next day?

>>
>>26284247
>>26284345

You both are wrong.
Sam organized everything, Isolde stops any distractions, Elizabeth gathered the intelligence needed for the event, Julia ferried everything around as well as managing logistics, Tarin is taking pictures with a special camera made by Heloise. Together they will drool over the Jager and Ramirez sandwich

Well, thanks to being trapped on the ground, it's actually rather simple for Ramirez to grapple the Mountain's arms. Trapped between the both of you, the Mountain finally utters a single word.

"Uncle!"

With the safety word yelled out, the fight is effectively brought to an end. The closing bell rings and the crowd cheers. Money is exchanged and unconscious fighters are pulled out of the ring. You and Ramirez walk out, and you brofist each other.

"Hey man, you ever need some more excitement, you know where to stop by." Ramirez grins.

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." You grin back

However, those grins instantly melt away when you see who's waiting for you outside the ring. Well, you didn't mind Tarin's presence, but you see Sam there as well, with a very stern look on her face.

"You dropped this." Tarin says, back to her usual stoic self, and she tosses both of your shirts back to you. "Sorry about not making it to the fight, Joe. I had a few personal issues to tie up."

"Ah, no problem, Tarin, Boss here filled in for you and he didn't disappoint!" Ramirez laughs.

"Jager... you.... you..." Sam looks about ready to explode.

"Yeah, yeah, I know Sam." You sigh. "Breaking fifty regulations and I'm not supposed to go beating up other people willy nilly..."

"Shut. Up." Sam says, putting her finger on your mouth to stop you from talking. "You. Back to our room. NOW."

And with that, Sam grabs your arm in an iron grip and starts dragging you away, not even giving you a chance to put your shirt back on. You take a quick glance back at Ramirez and Tarin, who both give you a big thumbs up before you're pulled out of sight.

Suffice to say, you pretty much missed that briefing with Freyberg...

>And that's it for tonight! We'll be starting the FINAL BATTLE next thread! Be sure to be back Sunday 6-7pm PST! See you there!
