@GhostAdjutant

Your codename is Delta Phoenix. You were once a ghost of the Terran Dominion. AFter Arcturus Mengsk died and Korhal fell you defected from the Dominion. Now you fight for freedom and attempt to unify the fringes against a coming Zerg threat. The Dominion continues to hunt you, as do criminals and bounty hunters.

Your task is impossible - and that's optimistic. The fringes are spiraling into civil war, losing planets to the Zerg and Protoss, and the Dominion is preparing it's ships to reclaim the worlds for the crumbling empire. Even with your skilled crew you're starting to doubt your mission is even possible. But you still have to try.

Adjutant A.I. online.

Good Morning, Commander.

I have completed the report of casualties from our previous mission, and the report on Planetary activity while repairs to the Daluke were completed.

Note that all systems are at 100% and our combat readiness is currently optimal.

You head to the bridge. In the downtime between missions the hallway leading from the Bridge to the Living quarters has been converted to a shrine to the Fallen. One of your SCV operators has wielded the words below to the top structural beam:

>"IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN. WE WILL NEVER FORGET THEIR SACRIFICE."

There are a multitude of names, pictures, KIA readouts, lit candles on the railing, flowers, a single stuffed purple dinosaur, hand-written letters, and a memorial itself below the words. Most of the names you recognize. Some, regrettably, you do not. There's still plenty of space, and you know it's not all of the names yet.

Charlie's on the Bridge. Investing so much in medical facilities might be the only reason she's alive and awake right now.

>"Dee. Nelhav just finished her report on the research from the Changeling. We've been able to create a new type of suit - Chameleon suits. They're able to run stealth reactors without Psionics. Can't armor them yet, but this is big. With the reverse-engineered C-20A rifles and the Project Shadowblade equipment, we're equipped to produce Spectres. Y'know, if you decide we want to."

This isn't the first time she's suggested this since she woke up. She hasn't said much about Whiskey's departure but you can tell it hurt her massively. She stayed with you despite everything, however.
>>
>>26292752

Can we sell or trade some of our minerals for Vespene?

Regardless we should still purchase gas here. Can we bring up the starmap?
>>
>>26292829

Also yes lets trade supplies and minerals for vespene.

Chameleon suits are modified HE Cirus suits, Commander.

>New Albuquerque: The People's Republic of New Albuquerque (PRNA) and the New Albuquerque Confederacy are at war. PRNA is a communist totalitarian government, while the NAC are a republic. The NAC is losing the war.

Alright wow...good news on the suits then. That means we can stay stealth eternally right?

We should buy enough vespene for two way trip to our next destination, enough to get back to Murric if we need to.

As for the world, I wanted to go to the old Hive world...but

>"Set course for the Gas Giant."
>"Aye aye, Commander. XO to all stations, prepare for warp jump."

The giant replaces Murric in the window, as do several small dots... and one very large one. You look to the scanners to identify it. A massive Zerg life form is dipping tendrils into the Giant. They're mining here too.

>"Sir, scanners indicate it's harvesting terrazine."
>"What could Zerg want with terrazine...?"
>"Lieutenant, patch me through to Nelhav. Launch the alert fighters and prepare to engage. Looks like they're planning on bugging out. "

The woman's face shows up on one of the main screens. She's looking at the same feed you are, a Leviathan gathering Terrazine.

>"Zat creature is clearly some sort of Zerg orbital command unit. Zee opportunities it poses are immense. Although I cannot fathom why zee Zerg vould vant terrazine. It is possible zat zey are using it to create their own psionic breeds. Commandah, if zis is zee case, I suggest vee intercept zee creature und, at zee very least, kill it."

You look to the XO for his recommendation.

>"It's big. A Yamato will wound it, and wraith and Valkyrie teams can play interference with it's defenders. We can either kill it outright and pick up whatever pieces don't get sucked into the Gas Giant, or we can attempt to... board it with a science team."

Discussion phase begins.
>>
>>26293628
XO, boarding it with a science team would be suicide wouldn't it?
Nelhav, what benefits would boarding that thing be?
>>
>>26293628
No boarding. Just kill. We already have an intact changeling and dead infestor for research opportunities.

Also I support Yamato alpha strike, followed by strikecraft assault.

Question: Can the Leviathin jump out from where it is, or would it have to put distance between it and the gravity well of the gas giant first?

Do we know how to cripple a Leviathan in terms of FTL travel? Because if that wouldn't destroy the intel we want to gather, I'd say a Yamato strike could pretty much make it impossible for the thing to flee. If it wouldn't destroy it, that is.

>>26293712
fuck that they can research its corpse after we nuke it into ash.
>>
>>26293772
There are several tenatacles hanging from the underbelly of the beast into the gas giant's atmosphere, sucking up Terrazine. It's likely being stored in some internal organs.

I have no other information at this time.
>>
>>26293794
kinda hard to research ash for anything useful
>>
>>26293756
...alright then.

I propose we make an initial Yamato shot to cripple the beast.

If the Leviathan is properly immobilized, we have the valkyries clean up any remaining air units with the support of half our wraiths while the other wraiths provide close air support.

We will infiltrate near the head with every dropship, loaded for maximum close combat with at least a marauder or two just in case.

If the Leviathan is NOT crippled sufficiently (due to a bad roll), we just kill it dead and deprive the Zerg of the terrazine.

Sound good?
>>
>>26293785
If you had to estimate, Nelhav, if we did do something as crazy as boarding the creature, what would it do? It's a zerg creature itself, isn't it? I doubt it would just let us waltz in and slice a piece of it's brain off.

>"XO to weapons control. Fire main cannon. Cripple enemy target."

The read sphere forms in front of the ship, then launches itself through the middle of the Leviathan and into the gas giant. The creature's guts spill out and are sucked into the massive gravity well, and it begins to spiral towards the Atmosphere.

I have calculated the Leviathan's trajectory. You have 12 minutes until you are too deep in the gravity well for Recovery, Commander.

The Leviathan's head is easily the size of a Command Center. Acid drools from it's mouth in the Zero gravity, and your dropships maneuver past the slowly billowing green clouds of liquid.

>"Star Reaper coming in low. Package is away. Enjoy your opening, ground teams."

The Valkyrie sails past, followed by several missiles. The frigate pulls up, and the missiles blow a hole in the creature's carapace.

Both dropships enter the wound, and you land on the fleshy interior of the Leviathan.

>"Didn't know you were a Medic, Doc."
>"I am not typically a medical doctor, Jessica, but I fear I am better at it than I am viff a gun."

You step forward through the hallways. Creep runs thick on every surface.

>"Boss, can we maybe just -shoot- Zerg from now on? I'm gonna have to spend hours cleanin' this gunk off my gear."
>"Zis is amazing. Zese capillaries provide motor function to zee lesser strains. By use of muscle contraction I imagine zat-"
>"Contact! get down, Doc!"

You turn around to the sound of the C-14 fire. A swarm of Zerglings is approaching from the rear. Your single-file squad is in an uncomfortable position.

>"Commadah, vee must move forward, zis capillary connects directly to zee neural netvork, und vee cannot fight zhem in closed spaces!"
>"Move and shoot, Squad!"

You're at the front so you lead the way as the Zerglings chase the rear.

>"Man down!"
>"Keep moving Dana, that poor bastard's already dead."
The vein opens up to a large chamber. Hanging at the center of it is a large mass of tissue that you assume is the brain, given that it's so grooved. Several neural bundles connect every which way, to the walls, ceiling, and floor.

Your men exit into the room and form a concave firing arc. The Zerglings aren't any match for them once they're able to bring all the guns. The remaining Zerg have no choice but to fall back.

>"Zis is amazing. I vill need several seconds to collect zee samples."

You look around the room. You don't see any other entrances but as far as you know that could easily change. Nelhav climbs one of the bundles and starts hacking away at the brain. That's when you hear it roar.

>"XO to Delta team. I have detected movement with subsurface scans. Everything's coming for you. Get ready to hold that position."
>"We have Air superiority yet, XO?"
>"Cleaning up, sir. We can get anything you need down there."

What are your orders, Commander?
>>
>>26294732
Have the battlecruiser calculate our aproximate location and have it rip everything around us to shreds
>>
>>26294732
Can we set up any traps?
What's our equipment?
Firebats at the front.
>>
>>26294732
Detected movement, huh? Can the Wraiths or Daluke accurately track the movement and fill it full of lasers?

Also tell us which direction it's coming from (Delta can try to psy sense as well) and then deploy ourselves in a firing arc in that direction with the firebats to the fore.
>>
>>26294771
Also use psi radar to see whats around us and after that we use astral projection to look for any possible entrances and call in fire support from air units on concentrated zerg forces
>>
>>26294732
Have bayonets ready and keep all guns pointed toward the entrance. Have Delta use her astral projection to go around and looking for any new tunnels that may be forming or old tunnels collapsing as well as relaying what type of forces are headed at us.
>>
>>26294771
>>26294810
I completely support this motion.
>>
Firebats on either side of the doormarines\medics behind them, make it a killing zone. Delta should cloak and be prepared to launch i-rad and hellfire grenades when the enemies become too concentrated. Otherwise she should snipe and provide intelligence.
>>
>>26294810
>>26294825
These two - I second.
>>
>>26294732
>Anything we need
A dropship of firebats and medics would be lovely. Maybe a few marines or marauders, depending on the type of Zerg that are approaching. Non-warrior strains, so probably not Roaches...Hydra have good range though, so we should make sure to help snipe them.
>>
>>26294771
That would be excessively dangerous, Commander.

>>26294782
You do not have any mines to set up traps.

The Nomad is capable of construction.

SCVs are capable of construction.

You have enough time to request additional units before the Zerg force arrives.

>>26294809
Firing on the ship you are currently in violates all standard safety protocols, Commander. Issue that order at your own risk.

>>26294810
You still sense no additional psionic lifeforms.

Astral projection through muscle tissue does not reveal anything relevant at this time. If it closed and can open you cannot determine it this way.
>>
>>26294864
>SCVs are capable of construction.

>>26294864

>>26294902
Bunker's build fast. less then a minute infact.

No guys its alright, Bunkers like most Terran defense structures build really fast. Less then a minute, maybe 30 seconds, or so? I forget exactly.
>>

It takes 40 seconds to construct a bunker, while a Nomad can place a prebuilt auto-turret instantly. However, the Nomad can't reach the brain chamber, but can reach the dropship LZ.

>>

>>

SCVs and Infantry units can relocate auto turrets.

>>

>>
>>26294989
Damn it, then we can't build a bunker in the brain chamber...we should get out of here quickly once the doctor is done.

Have the Nomad set up turrets and kill the creep in the LZ. If this will be as fast as I picture, we may not need a bunker...

Will it be fast?
>>
>>26295001
How many avaliable auto-turrets do we have? I want half of them in the brain chamber and half in the LZ.

>>

The drop pods land at the LZ and several marines and SCVs disembark. Two auto-turrets are placed there, and the other 2 reach you without incident.

>"Reinforcements are here and we've got a bunker goin' down, boss. Just a matter of time, now."

You stay near the brain itself, the long range to any wall will make it easier for you to snipe any random openings.

The firebats spray their flames over the floors, clearing the creep for the bunkers. Minutes pass before the bulk of the Zerg make their way across the giant creature to the brain at the far end.

You hear them long before they come. The thrumming of immeasurable claws. The beating of countless wings. The slither of untold stomachs.

The comforting sound of auto-turrets. You'll need to remember that they exist in the future. They don't overheat. They don't reload. They don't know fear. They just kill.

>"Targets left! We've got another opening!"
>"Firebats repositioning! Medic! Medic!"
>"Stop drop and roll. Always makes me laugh."
>"You want a piece of me, Zerg!?"

Spines pelt the walls of the room, several hit the brain as well, doing more harm than good. The beast's psionic presence slowly fades until you feel it die. Slowly, more and more tunnels open. Between your defensive positions and reflexes a single Zergling doesn't make it through.

>"It iz done, Commandah! I can't get anything else. Vee need to leave!"
>"Pull back! Get everyone to the LZ!"

The bunker unloads and marines pile through the exit.

>"Man down!"
>"Lost another marine!"
>"Jessie! Shit, boss we've got to go back!"

Henderson rushes past you. The Medic's being cut off by the overwhelming numbers. You follow him and take the wounded Medic by one arm.

>"Can you walk, Jess?"
>"Don't think so, Henderson. Hand me a gun and let's get out of here."

He hands her one of his two C-14's, and spits out a cigar stub. You cover them as the last person out, watching in futility as the auto-turrets and bunker are overwhelmed.

As you reach the transports several Zerglings are clamoring over the top of it. You take potshots as you jump after it, grabbing on to the landing strut at the last minute.

You hang on tightly, and radio the Daluke.

>"Ground teams are free, XO."
>"Copy that. All batteries, firing solution on Bandit actual."

The streams of lasers shift from the zipping aerial battle over the Leviathan to the beast itself. Several explosions rip it open as the terrazine catches fire. The flaming husk sinks into the gas giant's atmosphere, starting a massive firestorm on the planet's surface. Massive being relative, it's but a little dot compared to the overall planet. You pull yourself into the Dropship.
>>
>>26295879
Okay see guys?
Relatively awesome, no one lost, nothing happened.
Now, imagine what we would have gotten if we just blasted it.
THAT BEING SAID, XO, SCAN THE FUCKING SYSTEM, DO WE GOT ZERG INCOMING?

Total Casualties: 4 Marines.
Acquired research: Leviathan Neurological samples.
Air support is eliminating remaining Zerg hostiles.
The Nomad has begun construction of orbital vespene refineries. Estimated cost is 1,000 minerals.

Additional defenses:
Fighter Hangar: 500 Minerals / 500 Gas
Missile Turrets: 600 Minerals
Long-Range Sensors: 125 Minerals / 100 Gas
>>
>>26295928
Quarantine everyone aside from the Doctor and us.
And go through checks with them.

>>26295938
If it only comes out of one place on the planet, yes.
>>
>>26295928
There are no Overseers to produce changelings, Commander.

>>26295938
It's a gas giant, Commander. Although you have started a massive firestorm it is physically impossible to mine and burn all Terrazine and vespene available within the next 3,789,000 years.
>>
>>26295954
How much Gas do we have at the moment? Definately construct the Missile Turrets, but lets always have enough gas for three jumps or so.
>>
>>26295951
While that may be a little extreme, I would like to make sure we clean ourselves off. Decontaminate the ship and check everyone's vitals and blood. Make sure they're who they say they are.
>>
>>26295954
Right, definately make those turrets.

The other things can wait until we get some gas in.
>>
>>26295968
We have 90 gas after purchasing gas for jumps on Murric, commander.

We can leave the Nomad with available resources, and once gas production begins it can finish defenses.
>>
>>26295968
You know, we should have an 'emergency gas for jumps only' store.
>>
>>26295954
That should be acceptable then...unless the Zerg REALLY want that Terrazine, I don't reckon they'll bring another Leviathan to waste on this place.
>>
>>26295938
IT IS A SMALL FIRE

WHY IS EVERYONE IN THIS QUEST ILLITERATE AND A MORON?
>>
>>26295954

Sensors first, we need to keep watch. Then turrets and hangar.

Check whether the zerg have been making a move on Murica or elsewhere in the sector. Since she knows where we are, the broodmama could strike somewhere else where we are weak.
>>
>>26295964
Ah, alright, I'm over worrying then. Good then...good. That mission went well. Yay
>>
Nope, not leaving this place until we are sure that the zerg aren't coming immediately.

>>26295996
The Daluke can cover sensors, I think missile turrets are more important and... well... we can only afford turrets right now.
>>
>>26295954
Build the missile turrets immediately. Once we have enough vespene, build the sensors. Then the hangar so that we can have a permanent defense force here.
>>
>>26295993
I was worried that a big fiery giant would burn up a lot of gas down there, yes. Sorry. Just making sure.
>>
...
IS THIS KIND F SHIT WHAT YOU IDIOTS GET UP TO WHEN I LEAVE FOR A WEEEKND?
FUCK.

also, does anyone have a link for quest 27?

>26294732
Blast the fuck out of it to try and vent/kill zerg in the capillaries.

Also, consider falling back INTO the narrow space, firebats on each end, kneeling, with a marine behind covering.
Other marines pass him loaded rifles when his is dry.

You come out of Orbit over XTYU003. There are token feral Zerg forces, and the Protoss ruins are over one mining site.

There are several candidates for base commanders.

>>
>>26296852
House. With her experience deploying ground troops, she should hopefully be able to erect a defensible position and route out zerg forces on the planet. Give her enough resources and supplies to get started with a command center, barracks, and a few barracks, along with several companies of marines. There aren't exactly humans here to recruit from, so we need a solid defense to start.

Have our base(s) on Murric start a recruiting drive for people to come here to work at our compound. Once we start getting a trickle of Murrican workers, we can start to really expand here and wipe out whatever zerg forces are present. Hopefully, of course.
