And so we continue with VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST!

Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

You are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home.

You first arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact, and figh off an Imperial amphibious invasion by defeating their leader, Belkan Knight Sir Fleisher.

You then moved on to Ustio, where you helped the beleaguered defenders fend off an Imperial offensive and stage a counterattack ending with the defeat of the Knight leading the Imperial forces in the area, breaking the back of the Imperial offensive.

You then returned to Gallia to help the Loyalists fight the GRA and rescue Archduchess Cordelia. You also finally decided to move on from your past and start a relationship with your longtime friend and XO, Sam. Now, you've been recruited by Lynch to destroy two Valkrur superweapons. You already managed to destroy Stonehenge, and all that is left is Excalibur.

Oh, and you asked Sam to marry you, and she accepted. Nothing possibly bad can happen from this, right?

You're now participating in the Federations offensive into Belka, in an attempt to take pressure off the main offensive in the Round Table, as well as destroy Excalibur.

>Looks like we're sticking with Jager for now!

You stare up blankly at the giant airship as it begins powering up its engines, lifting the massive Excalibur weapon into the sky, where such a thing shouldn't belong. You know that if Hresvelgr managed to gain altitude and reach the open sky, there was no stopping it.

"Okay, we need some ideas!" You yell. "How are we gonna stop this thing?"

"W-well, sir." Arthur points downwards. "See those cables?"

You look down and see a number of massive mooring cables attaching Hresvelgr to the ground, no doubt to keep the airship from floating away or moving too much. You see that one by one, explosive bolts puff as the mooring cables are disengaged.

"If I can reach one of those cables, I can keep it from detonating." Arthur says, his stammer gone now that he was in the thick of battle. "If my guess is right and the Belkans follow proper safety procedures, each one of those mooring cables alone would be enough to keep that airship tethered."

>Okay, we'll head straight for the cables then!

"We'll have to split up." You say. " You guys handle the cable. I'll board the airship."

"Alone?" Tarin blinks.

"If my guess is right, there's a certain person on that ship that wouldn't have it any other way." You say grimly. "Secure that cable."

"Can't we just, you know, buzzbomb it?" Brillant asks.

We're still inside the mountain. Radio signals can't get in or out. We can't use the beacon, and even if we can, we can't radio out to Qyburn to launch one anyways." You look up. "The only way is to physically plant the beacon on the ship itself."

"But how are you going to get on?" Tarin asks.

"Well, I got a way, but you're not going to like it." The Stig says.

"I don't like a lot of things, Stig. I think I can add one more to the list."

"Then get your ass on the backseat and hold on tight." The driver says.

The Stig guns the engine on the Growler the moment you take a seat in the rear compartment. The Growler roars as its engines are pushed near, no, well past its limits. You peek out of the top and see the Stig driving through the scaffolding, zeroing in on an incomplete section that's angled slightly up...

Well shit, he was right in you not liking this.

However, a stray lance rockets slams in the scaffold behind you, and you see a trio of lancers trying to get a bead on you.

"Some cover would be nice." The Stig says.

You spray the lancer team, literally ripping them to shreds with a storm of .50 caliber rounds. However, one of them manages to get a shot off and the lance rocket slams into the ground right in front of the Growler. The vehicle is still in one piece, but you see smoke rising from the engine and a trail of fluids behind the vehicle. The engine's sputtering isn't very helpful either.

"Are you sure we can make it?" You ask nervously.

"I've driven worse." The Stig says, not even phased. You're not sure if he's telling the truth, or just hast he best pokerface in Europa. Either way, you're past the point of now return. The Growler hits the ramp and Stig gives the vehicle everything he's got. With a bestial roar, the Growler gives on last extra burst of speed.

To be honest, you were expecting the Stig to give a big whoop, or some sort of musical cue to play while you were in the air, but alas, nothing of the sort happened. However, it was still a breathtaking sight, as long as you ignored the absolutely lethal circumstances you were in.

The Growler then lands on the side of one the airship's crew pods, and then to your horror, starts to slide. The Stig guns the engine again, the wheels and track grinding against the metal.

"Well, what are you waiting for, you stupid bastard? JUMP!" The Stig yells.

You instinctively leap from the Growler onto the airship. You turn back to see the Stig give you a salute from inside the vehicle right when friction loses gravity, and tips over the side.

"STIG!" You yell, but the draft being generated from the airship's engines threatens to blow you off, forcing you to find shelter. You find a maintenance hatch and pop it open.

No sooner are you inside when the entire airship suddenly rumbles, nearly toppling you off your feet. Looking out the observation window, you see one of the mooring cables still stubbornly clinging to the airship. Looks like Arthur did his job.

"Captain, Captain, can you hear me?" You hear Alek's voice buzz through your radio.

"Alek?"

"Sir, I got a line of sight on the airship's engines. I can start popping the ones on your side, if you want."

"No Alek, the others probably need you help more than I do." You say grimly.

"Roger that, sir." Alek says reluctantly. "Good luck."

Already, you can hear the cable straining as it keeps the airship tethered to the ground. You're not sure what will fail first, the cable to the ship. Reaching into your pack, you pull out the radio beacon Qyburn had given you. Looking up, you figure that if you reach the upper decks of the airship, it should be high enough to start sending out its signal.

You decide to plant the beacon on Excalibur itself. The weapon was the main objective after all, so you might as well guarantee that it gets destroyed.

Oddly enough, the entire airship is devoid of life. There are no guards, no engineers, nobody. Besides the rumbling of the engines, the ship was eerily quiet. You can't help but feel a sense of unease. You encounter no resistance as you make your way to the bottom of the airship, where Excalibur is mounted. Looking down, you kind of regret your decision. There were no handrails or anything, and it was treacherously windy. Not exactly an ideal place to fight.

You leap down, carefully picking your way through the ancient valkrur stonework, fighting the biting wind until you find it. That crack in its protective superstructure. Inside, you can see the exposed ragnite core that powered the weapon, just asking to be exploded. Grabbing the beacon, you flip the switch to activate. A little green light blinks on and off to signify its activation. According to Qyburn, once activated, the missile would take several minutes to reach the target.

"Jager." You hear a very familiar voice behind you.

"Karla." You say as you turn around. Sure enough, your childhood friend and ex-fiancee is standing there, hear sword pointed at you.

"So it comes to this."

"I guess it has."

"Don't expect this matter to be solved with words." Karla continues. "A Belkan's pride can only be broken by the sword."

"I know." You nod.

"Any last words then?"

Karla, during the course of this war I've been betrayed, shot, beaten, stabbed, and nearly broken. But I've somehow managed to come out with some semblance of happiness. What about you? Has your pride ever made you truly happy? Because I haven't seen you smile in a long time

4, 5, and 0 are generally considered the height of the series.
6 is okay, but doesn't live up to expectations established by 4, 5, and 0.
Assault Horizon is not really a bad game, it's just not a very good Ace Combat game, and the whole DFM thing was ass retarded.
3 was also amazing in the original Japanese, but the English-language release stripped it down to a mere shell of what it should have been, so unless you speak Moon it's not really worth it.

"You're right, it hasn't." Karla smiles sadly. "You're not the only person to lose everything the day I attacked your castle. I threw away our future together for what, a nation? What a silly thing."

"You're not doing this for Belkan independence?" You ask, narrowing your eyes.

"That's such a short sighted way to view things!" Karla gives a mirthful laugh. "You could say, my objective is less 'Belkan independence', and more to abolish the idea of the nation itself."

"...what?" You blink.

"I've had a lot of time to think about this, Jager." Karla begins to pace back and forth casually, as if the wind didn't even bother her. "Every war, every tragedy, every global incident stems from this ridiculous idea of the 'nation' and 'borders'. Belka, The Federation, the Empire, Emmeria, even Gallia. They're all guilty of it! With the power of Excalibur, we can shatter the old ideals, and drag the world screaming into a brand new era! No nations, no borders, just one world!"

Karla then smiles as she paces closer to you. "Just think about it, Jager. No more wars. No more conflict. No more couples torn apart by petty politics. Lasting peace is in our grasp! I won't ask you to restart our relationship, but won't you join me? To make a world a better place?"

You can make a world without borders, that is true, but human nature is always discriminatory, destructive, greedy, hateful and selfish. So what that you get rid of the walls? That never stopped people from hopping over to do harm to others. People will naturally form walls, group themselves around the like-minded and there will still be death and conflict. The only thing we can do is be vigilant and hope that we're fighting for the right side.

As much As I want to agree, the problem with the empire is it has been run by dickheads(counter productive to my argument I know) that want more lands now.

The federation lacked the vision of peace form the new president and the actions he will begin to undertake.

Removing the empire from the equation will cause the federation to EXPAND into former empire lands which will begin another age of conflict. Emeria might then decide to attack or aid partisans from the former imperials.

"You may have a point." You concede. "The world does suck, with all the world wars and Europan wars and everything in between. But the fact is, Karla, your method won't work either."

Karla stops in her tracks, and you instinctively take a couple steps back and continue. "You won't change the world by putting a gun to its head, Karla. All you'll do is trade one bad situation with another. Let's say you do succeed. What then? Where will it stop? Even if you can play the benevolent ruler, what about your successors?"

"It looks like there's no convincing you then." Karla draws her sword. "It looks like fighting must be the only way to settle this."

"Yeah, looks like it." You sigh.

"I have an extra saber, if you'd like." Karla offers.

Guys, this is what she wants. She wants to be able to tell herself that she had no choice. Belkan Knights are big on chivalry. Force her to choose between her insane goal, and running through a man who has no intention of fighting her, a man she once loved, and she will break.
Remember an early thread, MC said that trying to make Paladin Fall was a viable approach to the Karla situation.

"For all is worth, I'm glad you were trying to make the world a better place." You say, giving her a genuine smile. "At least that tells me somewhere in there, you're still that knight you wanted to be so badly."

Karla just freezes there. Not sure what to say. It certainly looks like you've hit her in a very vulnerable emotional spot. She said words couldn't turn her, but hey, it couldn't hurt to try, right? The beacon was already planted, and you were sure at this point Karla couldn't do anything about it.

"Karla, this is stupid. I don't want to fight you." You drop Var mk2. "Just give up. It's either that, or you're just going to have to kill an unarmed man."

For the first time you can remember. Karla seems uncertain on what to do. The confusion and grief clear on her face.

You know it would start small: visits in prison, short chats, that sorta thing. We might even show a sliver of kindness and bring her some home cooking, maybe even a gift or two.

Things would get more intimate from there. A stolen kiss, a quick grope. Before we know it it would turn in to a full-blown affair, with her living in a summer house nestled in some quiet valley, a stunning mistress to complement our warm-hearted wife, laden with child.

And from there? It could go anywhere from there.

You slowly walk towards Karla, and she closes her eyes, expecting you to take her life.

As if you'd ever do anything that cold hearted.

Instead, you kneel down and give her a great big bear hug, for the first time in years. Karla gives out a little gasp of surprise at the move.

"W-what's the meaning of this?" Karla blubbers.

"There. It's over now." You smile and take her hand. "Come on, let's get out of here."

Karla just sniffs, wiping away more tears and wordlessly allows you to pull her up to her feet.

"You were always like this, you know." Karla mumbles "You always seemed like a better knight than me."

"Don't be silly. I could never be a knight. Too stuffy and uptight." You laugh softly. "Now, uh, how the hell do we get off this thing?"

"Well, we could just-" Karla then pauses and blinks. "What's that buzzing sound."

"Buzzing- OH SHIT." You just then remember that you had already set the radio beacon, which as relaying targeting information to an incoming buzzbomb.

The same beacon barely a foot behind you.

"Karla, we need to get off this airship, and we need to get off of it QUICK." You say. "Like, RIGHT THE HELL NOW."

"All I have is this." Karla says, picking up what looks like to be a huge backpack.

"And what the hell is that."

"Parachute." She says, tossing it to you. "Put it on."

"Para-what?"

"Newfangled sciency thing. Jump off and pull the cord and you supposedly won't die." Karla shrugs. "Never tested it myself."

You're about to protest that last point, but the buzzing is getting louder. You quickly sling the parachute on, but notice Karla isn't putting one on.

"Karla? Why aren't you-"

"I only brought one, okay!?" Karla yells, her face flushing red. "I was seriously expecting only one of us to leave this airship alive!"

"Honestly." You shake her your head and pull her close. "Jump off and pull the cord, right?"

"Yeah." Karla nods, and holds on to you tight.

"Here goes." You say, and leap into the empty sky.

Or, well, Sam is stable, supportive and encourages Jager to let the past go and work towards a better future for himself. That could be why we went for her.

There is so much samefagging and waifuing in this thread it's disgusting.

There are by my count 3 anons that are all wanting MC to give Karla this dick and Karla route regardless of Sam being pleged and married following an involved plot after Karla betrayed MC in the first place.

Now they all want to forget that she is batshit evil crazy. Wave their magic fingers and think their waifu is fixed and have their happy ending.

Where this is approximately between 7-8 anons that don't want to waifu her, but rather spare her and anywhere between see justice done to just let her go, or refriend her. No waifu mode.

There 1 one anon who presented a good point and voted to kill her. But I think that's crazy, a good point but crazy. Then again love is crazy.

My vote personally is to plant the charge, say goodbye and take the last parachute and jump.

And for a brief moment, a second sun formed over the Hydrian Mountains. The buzzomb, guided by the radio beacon, hits dead center on Excalibur's weak point, igniting its ragnite core and setting off a chain reaction that engulfs not only itself, but the Hresvelgr carrying it as well. In an instant, what was the physical symbol of Belka's unstoppable might was turned into ash, smoke, and falling debris.

Everybody present could remember exactly what they were doing when Excalibur was destroyed.

---

Sam and Schnee were both slumped against the smoldering ruins of his tank, both utterly exhausted. Sam had literally used up all of her lance rounds knocking out Schnee's tank, only for the massive knight to pop out of his hatch, is armor and clothes on fire, as he tried to cut her down with his broadsword. It took some last second moves with her lance, as well as some desperate hand to hand fighting, to hold him off. Now, the both them were just too exhausted to continue.

Meanwhile, Fleisher and Dietrich's tanks were totally slagged, but Fenrir and Kilroy weren't that much better off. Both knights, who were trying to redeem themselves for their past failures, decided to try and stay in their tanks to very end, only to get pulled out by Julia and Headcase because what kind of tanker would want that die like that.

----

Heloise was meanwhile under the ruins of the bridge, her lagged trapped under a fallen beam. Ramirez had been doing everything he could to protect her from the encroaching guards. Every time, he'd stop by to check on her, as well as to restock on ragnaid and grenades. She could've sown every time he came back, he was carrying a different weapon.

Finally, Ramirez returned, not with a weapon, but Williams slung over his shoulder. Fortunately, Ramirez was considerate enough to keep him alive, and he deposited him gently next to Heloise. She could only smile and stroke his hair as she used her last ragnaid on his wounds.

Oh yeh she's definitely off her rocker and taking pills like candy.
But even while doped up, straight up chasing down a car/straight up fighting an entire platoon of professional soldiers twice is still a little bit over the top.
Still entertaining, but its my least favourite arc.

Alek and Elsa were busy trying to hold off a security team that was trying to retake the observation tower. It was pretty hectic actually, sniping guys at point blank range and tossing thrown grenades out the windows. Alek of course was pretty miserable, but Elsa was having the time of her life.

---

Things were kind of quiet for Tarin, Brillant, and Arthur. Up until they saw Excalibur explode, and realizing they were right under it, had to haul some serious ass to avoid being crushed.

---

Meanwhile, a maintenance crew performing damage control didn't notice that they suddenly had a new member in their midst, carefully trying to avoid attention whenever guards passed by.

---

As for the Stig, well, an Imperial security team moved to secure the wreckage of the Growler after it fell from the Hresvelgr. However, when they inspected it, they found nothing. Not even a body.

---

To say that the parachute ride was a bit hectic was a major understatement. It was a goddamn miracle that your parachute wasn't torn up from the heat and falling debris. However, the landing was a bit harder than you would've liked, sending both you and Karla sprawling on the ground. Fortunately, you both had enough strength and presence of mind to scramble to your feet and get clear of the falling Hresvelgr, where you were then confronted by dozens of very angry Imperial guards.

"Release the princess!" One of them yelled at you.

"Stand down." Karla says, stepping forward. She's limping a bit due to the hard landing, but it wasn't anything to serious, according to her. "Stand down, and give me that radio."

The guards, perplexed, follow their Princess' orders and lower their weapons. One of the hands her a comm set, no doubt wired to the entire base.

"Attention, all Imperial and Belkan forces in the Hydrian Facility." Karla speaks loudly and clearly. "It's over. Lay down your arms and surrender. No more blood will be shed this day."

The guards look at each, then at Karla, and then back at you.

"Fuck it." One of them says and drops his rifle. "I just wanna go home."

There are grunts of agreement, and the other guards similarly toss down their weapons and walk away.

Suffice to say, General Freyberg was quite surprised when the Imperials started surrendering en masse. But then again, he suspected it had something to do with the Demons.

"Well? What are you waiting for?" Karla says, looking back at you. "I'm pretty sure she needs you, you know."

"Well, what about you?" You ask. "Are you going to be okay?"

"I don't think I'm going to be 'okay' ever again." Karla sighs. "But.... I'll try to clean this up. I've got no other choice."

"Why don't you come with me? I never did introduce you so Sam." You say.

"W-what?" Karla blinks. "Do you really think that's a good idea?"

"Well, last I saw, she was going to shoot lance rocket into one of your knight's faces, so I'm pretty sure you'd want to see if they made it, as well."

"That's... a good point." Karla nods absentmindedly.

So, the both of you start the lonely journey back to the other side of the assembly chamber. Since you were in the Growler when traversing the chamber earlier, you never realized how GODDAMN FAR it was.

However, one bright side was that you were able to link up with the rest of you squad along the way. You find Tarin, Brillant, and Arthur unhurt. Alek and Elsa are a bit worse for wear, but otherwise okay. It also seemed that Ramirez and Williams worked together to pull Heloise out from under some wreckage and were both supporting her. Elizabeth just seemed to pop out of nowhere, as usual. At first, the Demons were wary of Karla tagging along, but considering you were vetting for her, they didn't really have any room to argue.

Finally, you reach the area where you left Sam off. Part of you as afraid that she didn't make it, but another part of you refuses to acknowledge that, telling you that there's no way she'd ever die. Not in a place like this.

"Hey, Cap." You hear Sam call out to you weakly. You spin around and sprint over to her.

"Sam!"

"It's fine, I'm alright!" Sam grins as you pick her up in a big hug. She then blink when she sees Karla standing behind you. "Whoa, what's SHE doing here?"

"Just here to make sure her own men were okay." You say.

"Congratulations, Samantha Welings." Karla smiles and shakes Sam's hand. "Jager's a good man. One of the best. You hold on to him and never let go, is that clear?"

"Yeah." Sam nods, a bit confused.

"We will." You affirm. "You know, we're planning on branching out into education after all this is over. Feel free to visit us any time."

"I'll think on it." Karla then bows to you politely. "Next time, then."

Karla then walks off to where Schnee, Fleisher, and Heinrich are gathered. They just look down solemnly at having failed her, but Karla just lunges forward and hugs all three of them, to their combined surprise.

"So.... what exactly happened?" Sam asks you, a bit perplexed.

"It's a long story." You sigh. "Come on, let's get the hell out of here."

"Yeah, let's-ah!" Sam stumbles as her legs give way under her. Obviously she was still exhausted.

"Do you need, assistance, Milady?" You say a bit jokingly, sweeping Sam up into a princess carry.

"You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you'd make a really great knight." Sam laughs. "Has anybody ever told you that?"

"Yeah, a few." You shrug. Then you lean forward to kiss her long and hard.

The rest of the Demons just groan and go on ahead without you. Finally, after a small eternity, your lips finally part.

"Let's go home, Sam."

"Yeah, let's." Sam smiles.

Bad end wouldn't of meshed with the mood/choices we've made. I'm pretty sure more brutal/edgier choices would've gotten bad end, but we played this quest very idealistically and the end reflects that.

Also, about the end, Karla still pretty fucked up. I'd be worried about her doing some more stupid shit, all for the greater good, of course. She's proven that she doesn't exactly have the most realistic expectations or perspective.

Yeah, and what a way to end it. This has been one hell of an experience, start to finish.

What really gets me is how you made all the characters so damn memorable, including Jager. I was worried that the PC would just echo everyone and have zero real personality, but he really came into his own as the quest progressed.

EPILOGUE

Shortly after the destruction of Hresvelgr and Excalibur, Belka eventually capitulated to the Federation, under the condition that it remain independent from both Imperial and Federation rule. Since the Federation wanted to pull its forces out of Belka as soon as possible reinforce other fronts, (as well as a certain favor called in to President Harling), they largely agreed to the terms. However, the Belkan monarchy was abolished in favor of a democratic government. All of its standing military forces were disbanded, with the only exception being the Knights, who were restricted to civil defense and other civic duties.

However, what should have been a period of great turmoil and unrest in Belka actually turned out to be a smooth transition of power, mostly thanks to Princess Karla Hohenzollern's personal acceptance of the terms. While she was no longer a Princess, she was still the Grand Master of the Belkan Knights, meaning she still carried a significant amount of influence in the country. In either case, once the Federation occupation forces and international monitors left many years later, Belka would eventually become a free and independent nation similar to Gallia.

As for the war in general, the inability for either side to gain a decisive advantage, as well as growing war weariness among the populations of both sides eventually gave President Harling and the Emperor enough clout to force a truce and the official end to the war. In the end, the Federation gained a bit of Imperial territory, as well as reparations from the Empire for damages. However, many Federation politicians were unsatisfied at the lack of a decisive resolution, though that's a story for another day.

GENERAL ADOLPHUS FREYBERG

After a surprisingly successful campaign driving into the heart of Belka, Freyberg was promoted to Supreme Commander of the Federation Armed Forces, a post he was rather reluctant to take since all he really wanted to do was go home to Ustio and retire.

Fortunately, he was "convinced" by Harling supporters to drag his feet in mobilizing a renewed Round Table campaign, leading to the eventual peace treaty. Freyberg finally got the opportunity to retire back to to his homeland, though this time with a significantly larger pension.

You can still find him in his home city of Valais, either relaxing at his new beach house or giving lectures to young Ustian officers.

COLONEL LEONARD LYNCH

While most of the plans Lynch set into motion during the war were largely successful, some would say that he got a bit TOO ambitious. After the war, the Albian government decided to perform an audit on all war expenses, and realized that nearly all of the money earmarked for black operations had been marked as spent. When confronted with this, Lynch steadfastly refused to divulge what hundreds of millions of Federation credits were spent on, citing that was the point of the black ops budget.

Suffice to say, the Albian government was not amused and slashed the AIS's budget for the next few years. But, Lynch is a patient man, and after several years, it became clearly evident that the AIS was a badly needed institution.

It was said that Lynch actually smiled when the Albian government reluctantly restored his budget, and even expanded it beyond previous wartime levels.

After the end of the war, Captain Davos and the crew of the Vergeltung immediately resigned from the Albian Navy to officially join the Demons of Randgriz. They still patrol the Gallian seas with the captured Imperial u-boat, keeping an eye out for intruders, and occasionally playing pranks on unsuspecting civilian shipping.

When asked if he would ever retire, Davos said he'd sooner jump overboard with a cannonball tied to his legs than do something like that.

GENERAL DOMEL WELLINGS

Due in part to his many duties and accomplishments in the Gallian Civil War, General Wellings was promoted to the Gallian Armed Force's Command in Chief, effectively giving him full command of Gallia entire military might.

With this new position, General Wellings worked tirelessly to eliminate corruption and nepotism from within the military power structure, emphasizing meritocracy instead. While mostly successful, he was never able to completely eliminate the endemic problems to the Gallian officer corps. However, on accomplishment he did achieve and is particularly proud of was promoting Darcsen equality in the armed forces, allowing larger numbers of them into the regular military, as well as allowing them to apply for officer training. He is still serving with distinction in his role as Commander in Chief.

After the events of the Gallian Civil War, General Wellings realized Novak's talents and vision and had him promoted to General. Quite an accomplishment for a school instructor and ex-Nameless. In either case, Novak used his newfound power to form the Gallian Secret Service, Gallia's answer to black operations.

Also, since the Gassenarls were disgraced at the end of the war, Castle Gassenarl was seized by the government and converted into a military stronghold, similar to Ghirlandio. Novak was granted command the newly christened Fort Novak, which is also the official headquarters for the GSS.

He continues to try and expand Gallia's intelligence and special operation capabilities, stressing that these were going to be how wars will be fought in the future.

Some times she'd disappear for months on end, only to show up again with odd souvenirs, like Imperial wool hats, Emmerian picture books, and shrunken heads from the Erusean jungles. Suffice to say, she's become GSS's unofficial scrounger, able to find literally anything you need... for a good barter, of course.

While tempted, Isolde did not stay with the Demons, nor did she return to Belka. Instead, she decided to "follow her own knightly path". Taking nothing but her motorcycle and whatever it could carry, Isolde drove off for parts unknown.

However, evidence of her presence constantly pop up in various areas of the Federation and Empire, particularly in the areas hardest hit by the war. Stories tell of a pink haired knight riding in on her mechanical steed, righting wrongs and defending the weak wherever they are preyed on. There's even one particular story where she got into an honest motorcycle joust with a gang leader, though that was most likely an exaggeration.

The most recent stories tell of a companion who rides with her, a former Imperial soldier she seems to be on very good terms with. The last known reports on her movements suggest she's heading back toward Gallia.

Elizabeth eventually resigned from the AIS to pursue different opportunities. Normally, with a operative of her skill and security clearance, a stunt like this was tantamount to suicide. She now works full time for the Demons, teaching prospective students the fine arts of infiltration, deceit, and sabotage.

Also, unknown to everybody but a select view, she still writes novels in her spare time under a pseudonym, and basically has the trashy romance novel market cornered.

TARIN/JOE RAMIREZ

Throughout the war, Tarin and Ramirez always had something of a unspoken respect for each other. After all, they were both gods of the battlefield in their own way: Ramirez being nigh on invincible and able to do almost anything in a pinch, and Tarin having the best infiltration and close combat skills around. By the end of the war, that mutual respect eventually evolved into something.... different.

They've only recently made their relationship public, much to the surprise of pretty much everyone.

Currently, they both instructors at the Sturmfuhrer Academy, and are the most feared and respected of the school faculty. Their classes have a 90% failure rate, though anybody that can survive to the end is guaranteed to be destined for greatness.

KARLA HOHENZOLLERN

After the war, Karla stepped down from her position as Princess of Belka. However, she retained her position as Grand Master of the Belkan Knights, and worked tirelessly to reorganize them into a civil defense and peacekeeping force. She also used her influence to make sure that the transition from monarchy to democracy would go smoothly. She even opened direct diplomatic ties with Gallia, tying the two nations closer together.

Thanks to her new perspective on life, Karla no longer tries to burden herself with trying to change the world, and is perfectly happy with just doing whatever small good things she can.

Rumors persist that she might be considering marrying Sir Erik Schnee, though such rumors are unfounded and unconfirmed.

Isn't Schnee like...twice her age at least?

JAGER STURMFUHRER/SAMANTHA WELLINGS

Jager and Sam returned to Castle Sturmfuhrer, where they were officially married in a big, impromptu ceremony. They then began to split duties. Jager would continue to run the mercenary and military aspects of the Demons, making sure recruit potential members as well as making sure they were still a viable fighting force. Sam meanwhile became the Headmaster of the Sturmfuhrer Academy, ruling the campus with an IRON FIST. Usually it's Jager that has to come in and tell her to loosen up a bit.

They're both happy with their current situation, and are confident that they can handle anything that comes their way now...

Some say that the GSS operative known only as "Mr. 47" is a myth. I'm here to tell you that he is not.
>>
>>26326276

Tarin and Ramirez are obviously going to produce triplets. One will receive all the dominant genes, one all the recessive (and be a whiny bitch about it), and the third will receive a mix of both but will never outshine the exploits of his siblings

"Come on, Sam." You yawn, sitting down on your bed. "We've got a lot to do tomorrow. Let's get some sleep."

"Ummm... Jager, I got something to tell you...." Sam says, stepping forwards nervously.

"Oh, what is it this time? Heloise and Williams making out in the kitchen again, or Tarin asking you what sex is?"

"N-no! Nothing like that!" Sam stammers. "Well, it's just..."

"Yes...?"

"I'm pregnant!" Sam squeaks.

"Eh?" You blink. "EH?!?"

"Yeah..." Sam nods.

"Oh man..." Your thoughts begin to race. "So much to do, we gotta prepare for the baby-"

"Babies."

"What."

Sam gives a weak smile and raises two fingers.

"Twins."

>And that's it for VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST! It was certainly a wild ride, but I think it was worth it! Now you guys can finally start getting some sleep!

Well, it's been a fun game. This is actually the first quest that I ever joined and I loved it. And the fact that a got a Crit on the last roll of the game was like a cherry on top. Anyways, I want you guys to know, after all the jokes and the yelling and the attempts to get me to stop rolling, I just want to say... I fucking hate all of you. And if we do another quest together, I will hate you assholes some more. May the dice gods smite you ALL!!!!

Was going to guess Quadruplets, ha! In all seriousness it's been a wild, great, crazy, and several other words I can't think of due to Sleep deprivation, which I thank you for but that's something I think I'm actually going to miss. Good luck to any future endeavors but after this I'm sure most of us anons will be taking apart and losing sleep, Good run as always Merc Command. Also THE TWITTER!!!

I'd say thats in the "better" category. If it gets mentioned in there on anything resembling a regular basis, its probably because the Quest in question is controversial in a bad way.
