@GhostAdjutant

Your codename is Delta Phoenix. You were once a ghost of the Terran Dominion. AFter Arcturus Mengsk died and Korhal fell you defected from the Dominion. Now you fight for freedom and attempt to unify the fringes against a coming Zerg threat. The Dominion continues to hunt you, as do criminals and bounty hunters.

Your task is impossible - and that's optimistic. The fringes are spiraling into civil war, losing planets to the Zerg and Protoss, and the Dominion is preparing it's ships to reclaim the worlds for the crumbling empire. Even with your skilled crew you're starting to doubt your mission is even possible. But you still have to try.

You've just finished transferring the Adjutant A.I. to a newer model body. It should improve her calculations significantly, although you wish Henderson would stop making comments about her chassis.

One wraith goes down. Then four. Then five. Then six. One of the laser batteries strikes the bridge and blows open the window. You hold on to the handrail of the Commander's Podium, but several of your bridge crew are thrown into space before the metal seal slams shut over the window.

>"XO, this is engineering! We've got a reactor breach! They scored a lucky hit with that Yamato, I need all hands and all damage control down here pronto!"

Several systems light up red. Damage is significant across multiple decks. How your crew could manage to be so incompetent is beyond you.

You head to the brig, to interrogate the enemy commodore personally. You briefly reflect on the hallway memorial as you pass by it. Several more names will be on it before today is over.

The commodore has a cybernetic implant and serious scarring. He's an older man and you have no doubt that he's an extremely experienced veteran.

He's wearing typical manacles and sits behind the table in the interrogation room. There's an armed marine in each corner of the room.

>"Ah, the infamous rogue ghost. My briefing included you, but I did not expect to encounter you on a routine mission."
>"What is the purpose of your mission?"
>"Officially, we are investigating the radio silence of this poor undefended colony. But I think you and I both know the real reason we're here."
>"Have you deployed ground teams already?"

The man leans back in the chair, his vision straying away from you and towards the various guards.

>"Multiple. I expect they'll all surrender when they've realized what happened."
>"And do you have any idea what they've recovered so far?"
>"I'm afraid I was far too busy being shot at, old bean. But before we continue this conversation I need to know if I can expect to survive it."

>Awaiting input...

For once you decide not to be greedy and load up the starmap.

>Jungle World XTYU003: Edge of Protoss space. Protoss ruins on planet. Feral Zerg infestation.
>Gas Giant 09812Z "Henderson's Fart": Composed of Caslon, Hydrogen, Helium, Terrazine, Vespene, and some Alcohols. Vespene mining station in orbit.
>Continental Planet 34R75 "Xander's rock": "Mineral, Vespene, and Jorium deposits. Hostile psionic wildlife.
>Volcanic World HA002: Zerg Hive clusters in full swing. The planet is all but lost to the swam.
>Urban World Kilaro: Criminal Elements are at war with Kilaro's Fledgeling government. Supplies are in high demand.
>Space Platform A-22-OP/Tarento: Abandoned space platform over a Dominion-Loyal Corporate Nationalist government. Government is all but a Dominion puppet state at this point.
>Nohallan: Ice Planet home to viking Mercenaries. They are wanted by the Dominion for multiple piracy operations. Hostile wildlife and environment.
>Barren World JZ01919/ Dick's Paradise: Mining Platform over a planet high in inorganic salts. Zerg broods planetside have stopped all mining operations.

With the changeling breakthrough I had a thought. Charlie has been wanting to make specters for awhile, but instead what if we just train normal people how to be competent special ops personnel? This way we can have a lot more than just us running around and if we actually find a "cure" we can make those who survive into actual specters.

You have the ship set a course for new Albuquerque. It'll take about a day for repairs to be completed, and you'll be in orbit around New Ares for that time.

If you have the desire to speak to any crew now would be an optimal time, Commander.

You stand on the bridge. The metal shielding over the damaged window still sits in place. The Nomad floats outside of it, repairing the damage.

>"Credit for your thoughts, XO."
>"Bad stroke of luck today, sir. But our combat effectiveness isn't anywhere near where it needs to be. We might want to consider getting our hands on a shipyard so we can make some significant improvements to the ship."
>"You're saying I should look at assaulting that Dominion shipyard?"
>"Not yet, sir. We'll need a heavier fleet, first. But if we can get the Daluke properly outfitted we can punch a hole through a planet."

You nod to him slightly, and watch the repairs for a few more seconds. Eventually you grow tired and give the XO the bridge. You pass by the bar in the living quarters.

Mia, Henderson, and the pilots and crew of your flight deck have gathered.

The pilots stand at attention and salute you. You dismiss them with your own brief gesture. Mia looks at you with a grim determination.

>"Is there a problem, Captain?"
>"All due respect, Commander, but I don't like your move one bit. I understand forcing a surrender, I understand losing pilots, but you handed the ship right back to that Dominion officer. Who's to say he isn't going to jump right back to Dominion space the first chance he gets?"

Henderson, ever faithful, chimes in to your defense.

>"That was different. I didn't just kill half of her wraith pilots."
>"Only 'cause you didn't have a battlecruiser."
>"I'm just saying, you've made mistakes before, Commander."
>"Not in judging character I haven't."

You can sense that she's angry, but not at you. She still feels like justice hasn't been served for her wingmen. As long as you keep her distant from McCarthur it shouldn't be a problem.

You continue on past the bar to the adjacent Mess Hall. The remaining members of the Helldogs, Barney, and Jessie are at a table with your cook.
