Hey guys, I've got to leave the house for a a bit. I should be on later if people are interested. Until then, this thread should be dedicated to some meta-game planning so it doesn't go to waste while I'm away.

Here's the previous thread for people who missed out: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26354193/

I'll include an updated map in a following post.

isnt our meta game basically hide underground till we have enough soldiers to swarm the enemy and by that time we should be some type of terrifying zerg, tyranid, flood, xeno(aliens) and those bugs from star ship troopers hybrid of organic death
>>
>>26373911
Bingo. So, shall we trace out a temporary expansion line for each group?
>>
>>26374184
sure what do ya got
>>
Okay. FIrst off, technology concerns.

Domesticate Food Animals (Not Fish): only opening for this is finding where the wool came from. That's apparently around the cyrohydra's lair.
Cartography: I'm not sure if we don't have this. Does the hive have a map like we have the map?
Vehicles (we have the wheel): I figure it's going to be a matter of either getting some help from the elves or the workers figuring things out. We'll probably make a rickshaw first, and then we can try lashing a strong wolf to a big one.
Sub-breeds of wolves (Fighters, Workhorses, and messengers): First thing we need, more hounds. Since we bred some extra, last turn, time to start separating them by desirable characteristics? Ferocity, muscle strength, and land speed?
Explosives: Alchemists are gonna bother the elves this turn.
Axes: We need wood for the siege engines, and the workers need these. And also, they're very... thematic for how our army operates. I figure throwing the workers at trees with a scientific support should do it. I don't think we should ask the elves, but...
Non-insectile anatomy (Haul in some corpses through a side entrance?): Wait for some elves to die, and dig 'em up after?
Glass: I... cannot figure out how to bullshit this, guys. I need some help.

The suggested patterns for our castes are here, and useful for discussion.

>Hunters: spider-like
>Fishermen: shrimp-like
>Observer: human-like mimics and big brained regular observers
>Warriors: zerg roaches but with fire?
>Scouts: fly-like
>Houndsmen: insect mongols
>Workers: tunnelling bulldozers
>Farmers: honey-pot ants
>Homeguard: scorpion-like
>Alchemists: multi-armed scientists
>Scavengers: fly-like
>Clergy: baby factories and moral boosters
>Geneweavers: Abathur
>Tiny Caste (the pilots?): headcrabs? facehuggers? slither? spinal-cord worms? virus?

We're currently doing

>>Queen: Infest
>>>>Hunters: Pheremone Secretion (bait)
>>>>Fishermen: Ballast glands for neutral bouyancy in water (allows better underwater movement and deve lopment)
>>>>Observer: Perfect Mimics (8 more to go

>>>>Alchemists: poison proofing
>>>>Scavengers: Active camouflage
>>>>Clergy: Regeneration
>>>>Geneweavers: Better Geneweaving (3)

and we already have

Queen: Hivemind
>List of Caste specific mutations gained:
>>>Hunters: thermal vision, Webspinning, Fast burrowing
>>>Fishermen: water-breathing, strong waterproof grip, sonar
>>>Observer: non-insect speech,
>>>Warriors: Fire Breath, acid spit

those sound good and for glass we just have to set up a situation were we use our fire breath on the beach
>>
>>26374320
... Christ, i'm an idiot. Thank you, Red.

Do we want the hunters to get venom?

Honestly, the hunters are approaching what i want out of them other than perhaps some stronger webbing, a bit more skill with traps, and then just grind up Keen Senses until they can find someone across the universe.

Observers need to split, soon. I figure we'll make a new set with the mimics and keep the old non-humanoid ones we have and split them that way. Observers get bigger brains, keener vision, and so on.

Warriors... other than electric eeling 'em i am running out of ideas of where to put more weapons on them. I want them to have them all. Then give them resistances up the wazoo and coat them in armor, and make them bigger.
Scouts: Faster, faster, faster. And either they need eagle vision or we need lenses.
Houndsmen: At this point, i'm kind of hoping we'll be allowed to select mutations for the wolves after the infestation.

Continued.
>>
>>26374392
If we can select stuff for the wolves, i want them to get some more legs, make 'em more pointy, give 'em acid fangs, and a pounce fast and hard enough to snatch one of our scouts out of the air, and land running. For the riders, better communications with the wolves, and maybe an internal quiver? Body producing arrow-like spines? I'm running low on ideas.
Workers: I kinda want them to produce everything we need out of their own bodies at some point. LOoking into something along the lines of bees... Paper wasps and honeybees both produce some very useful substances, wax and paper.
Farmers: That honeypot ant stuff sounded good.
Homeguard: I expect living tanks. Moar armor, moar resistance. From here to the grave. Big enough to block a hallway with their corpse. Hercules beetles.
Alchemists: Once they have some fire and poisons resistance, i'm thinking we start using them to make some awful things, and make them hazardous to be around.
Scavengers: I can't decide if i like the idea of them being scavenger flies or more cockroaches. Scurry in, grab tons of things, scurry out. Maybe go scarab and give them a way to affix things together with a natural adhesive, which they can dissolve later at no harm to the objects, and roll their haul away, and make them a pain to rob?
Clergy: Eventually seeing these guys as wandering bonuses in addition to insta-queens. Faster metamorph, and any way to make people around them happy.
Geneweavers: Crank geneweaving until Klax says uncle.
Tiny caste: Yeerks.
>>
>>26374524
No prob man and for the warriors we can jest look up some awesome animals real or doesn't matter that much long as they got awesome shit we want in the hive

I'm thinking, if we never come across a flying organism to infest and turn into a flying machine, shouldn't we develop a flying cast? Like giant moths that could carry loads of other insects s well. This group could branch off from scavengers. This could also lead to heavy aerial bombing, paratroopers, better scouting, etc.
>>
>>26375215
para trooping bugs and giant moths shooting down fungal infecter spores terrifyingly awesome
>>
we need a flying stinging class (fast attack) and maybe add armor to the soldiers for a storm trooper like class
>>
There's been some confusion over our diplomacy with the elves.

Our goal right now is infiltration, correct? That is why we're being nice to them, right?
>>
>>26375676

We have no hostile intentions towards the elves: in fact, we wish to extend to them out highest honor. That honor being assimilation. We do not plan on killing them, we merely wish for them to join our hivemind. Once we get infestation, I'd think they'd be our first honorary insects.
>>
tht and they are a goldmine of skip forty fucking turns of bad rolls to understand basic stuff. God I want me some bombs.

Actions, should the GM return today

>Hunters: Set traps in the woods
>Fishermen: Fish, continue stocking spawning pool.
>Observer: Talk to elves about explosives
>Warriors: Knowing about the concept of siege weaponry, think about big-scale weaponry. Like a gigantic bow and arrow.
>Scouts: send a small group to STEALTHILY go search the area around and past the cryo-hydra lair.
>Houndsmen: Separate current wolf cubs by primary traits, primarily most ferocious, most speedy, most strength. Breed those groups separately.
>Workers: Start chopping trees from the forest.
>Farmers: Start growing some trees in some of the new farm area
>Homeguard: Work on defenses
>Alchemists: Listen to the elves about explosives.
>Scavengers: Try to figure out a way to haul more things around, using that "wheel" concept we figured out earlier.
>Geneweavers: eat some troll-meat, learn about its traits
>>
>>26377025
Agreed.

And also: let's say we went into battle against the undead lich guy.

Hey guys. I'm back. I'd really like to get Fireproofing for the Warriors, that way in case of, say, starting a giant freaking forest fire, they'll survive it.

My vote for the Warriors evo queue is: Stingers (because it's a good idea) > Fireproofing (increase resistance to immunity) Oxygen independence (No death from oxy deprivation when fires consume all of it, also will allow them to go underwater. Not cross oceans, though, because water pressure.) > WINGS (Mobility FTW) > Hardened Carapace.

Long queue, but that's my vote for the order, at this time.

Also: Captain Barchetta: Does he happen to wear RED? If so, this is his theme song.

Ok, so I'm gonna be gone for the night. If the GM returns, I leave you this advice:

If the undead become a problem, go for the liches. The undead themselves are slow and get confused without leadership. It's their one weakness.

Also, a preemptive strike on the undead might be an ok idea once we've evolved a bit more. Start a forest fire or something as a distraction to split their troops, then blitzkrieg those zombie bastards. If we get explosives, have some flying insects drop them to weaken their line.. Split them up, take down their leadership. You could decapitate their army in one blow, even if we had inferior numbers.

Good luck, and may God save the Queen.
>>
>>26373911
The undead will be raising the Southern Kingdoms (undiscovered) after they destroy them. It will be pretty hard to outnumber them for a while.

>>26374278
>>26374318
>>26374392
>>26374524

This guy is a man with a plan! Just remember that you can also go into improvement mutations. Fire and acid only goes 10 meters right now. You can improve their damage or range if you like. But yeah, there's also Frost, Electricity, and a few other things they could go for.

Geneweaving will only go as high as one development a turn. You can crank it up to rank 4 mutations being developed each turn, rank 1 mutations are also capped at one turn. (This will be time consuming.)

>>26377525
He does wear red and should he have a death scene where he's doing something awesome, I will try to remember that song.

>the undead will be raising the southern kingdom

I think we need to evolve seige caste. Now.
An elephant can handle a situation where it is outnumbered.
>>
>>26378494
they don't know we're here yet, we just need to bide our time until we have enough warriors to back up the eventual siege caste
>>
>>26378522
Well, that's what I'm saying. We need to siege that castle as soon as possible.

Unless we do something incredibly altruistic like building the elves an underground city where they can hide out on a long term basis. Convince them to wait out the storm.
>>
>>26378522
yeah if we do this right we could make it like that one scene from star ship troopers
>>
>>26378547
altruistic? I think its more giving them reasons to start a cult praising us, which is exactly what we want.
>>
>>26378522

If we wait too long who will be left for us to infest?
>>
>>26378595
Well, then put it in quotations then.

I think that's a good plan. Convince them that there's lots of iron down here and shiny bits too. Maybe teach us how to shape iron too. They could use this as a staging ground. Sneak in troops and mercenaries at night, with their families safe and protected by the queen's watchful guards.

The fear I have is them getting cabin fever-ish and deciding to go out on their own, where they'll be killed.
>>
>>26378626
The world is supposed to be as large as the Minecraft world. There are others out there, its just a matter of finding them.
Also I just realised is the Zombie in the Mikey pit completely devoured? We need something new for them to be initiated with
>>
>>26378626
nothing but the undead and unless there's a land bridge somewhere they still have to cross the ocean which we should be gaining control of in a few turns

The hunters set traps in the woods. They may be a little obvious to humanoids.

The fishermen have enough fish to stock both spawning pools. They also manage to find a huge fish. Not as big as a whale, but still pretty big.

The Observers (94) learn that the explosives were first developed for mining. They had later been weaponized against the Highborn in the War of Nepherat. It turned the tide by evening the playing field against the spell-slinging Highborn who had once dominated these lands. It was first developed by the Dwarves who have seemed to disappear since then. To make explosives, you need an extra flammable powder, something to ignite them, and a casing to hold the reaction until it bursts at high speeds. They probably have some in the Southern Kingdoms if it hasn't fallen to the dead yet. (Observers learned how to make and use explosives. You need the materials before you can make them.)

The warriors manage to create a huge bow and arrow, but none of them are large enough or strong enough to fire it. (The elves mention something "Ballista")

The scouts search around the cryo-hydra lair. They can see it in a fight against a huge, hairy creature. The creature is gargantuan, has a pig-like snout, huge spikey teeth, and massive claws. It swipes at the Hydra, but is cut short by one of the heads grabbing its claw and wrenching it to the ground while the other heads get control of other limbs. The last thing the scouts hear as they're leaving is the crunching of bone as the Hydra snaps them up and the fierce shaking as it tries to break the creature up into bite-sized pieces.

The houndsmen try to separate the pups, but at this point, there is no telling what these pups will turn out to be like.

The workers fell trees like mad. If you didn't know any better, you would say that humans lived here.

The farmers plow the fields with their mandibles and plant the seeds. Only time (and the random number generator) will tell what will become of them.
>>
>>26378806
The homeguard construct a double gate system they call a portcullis. Enemies get trapped in this part while guards up top spray fire through the holes.

The Alchemists hear from the Observers how to make explosives.

One of the scavengers comes up with an idea of a wheel on a container. This is yet to be tested.

The Geneweavers eat some troll meat. They learn that trolls are weak against fire and acid as well as how stupid they are. It is unproven, but maybe this is the cause of Mikey Syndrome. They also learn that trolls have no real internal organs and that is what makes them slightly stronger than other races in combat situations since a shot to the chest won't kill them outright. They also learn that a Troll's greatest weapon is his recovery rate. They believe that it has to do with an organism within their skin which is why acid and fire seem to work so well.
>>
Should we have an expedition to the south? Might run into the lich there and give him what for.
>>
>>26378930
>as well as how stupid they are. It is unproven, but maybe this is the cause of Mikey Syndrome.

We have to test this by having a worker eat nothing but Troll from caste-selection to see if it causes him to become a Mikey
>>
>>26378930
study the organism more
>>
>>26378954
naw man the lich would beat us unless we got realy lucky
also yes >>26378969 you know for science
>>
>>26378989
Could we develop anti-magic? Is that possible?
>>
>>26378996
We could develop immunitiys to the damage caused from magic, like fire resistance to resist fireballs but not just Anti-Magic because we're not magical beings
>>
>>26378996
If we do get Anti-magic, I bet it would be something like Blanks vs Psykers in 40k.
>>
>>26378996
probably not but that doesn't mean we couldn't just over whelm him through higher numbers or bug blitzkrieg or both
>>
>>26379023
Yeah. Blanks were exactly what I was thinking. Obviously it should be a specialized mutation with some downsides, for balance.
>>
>>26379023
I think you'd have a better chance of developing antimatter than antimagic considering you would probably have to have a knowledge of magic to know how to counter it.
>>
>>26379040
this.
After we get Mutation and Stat-list, lets figure out what we're doing next turn
>>
>>26378989
Your scouts have seen at least 2 litches together.
>>
>>26379064
after we get bug whales we should look for uninhabited islands to settle and start production of more troops
also >>26379070 queen dammit there's more than one
>>
>>26379040
I think we should do bug blitzkrieg.

Three specialized cavalry castes:
1. The lancers (current equivalent is the houndmasters). Basically the bug version of a knight.
2. The seige caste (homeguard derived)
3. The Lifter caste (airborne, carry "boats" full of soldiers or large rocks/bombs, derived from the scouts or scavengers). Bug equivilent of a Huey helicopter.

The blitzkrieg strategy isn't just about tanks, but a coordination between heavy armor, mechanized infantry, and air support.
>>
>>26379118
my point was more do both
but your right our swarms will still need good coordination good thing we have hive mind
>>
>>26379153
Well, I don't think coordination is the problem, it's just that if we try to do a tank-only blitzkrieg, we'll fail.

We need all three elements of it. Once we have that, and numbers, we're good to go. We'll out maneuver them, overwelm their flanks, and in some cases just straight up ignore them like the Germans ignored the Maginot Line.
>>
So... what are we doing this turn? Probably should see what that big fish is.

Sound good.

We should probably tell the elves that when the undead are defeated, they can keep their underground city along with the ruined city to the west. It'll be the home away from home for their traders.
>>
>>26379958
I think I remember seeing it at the top of a thread.
>>26380012
Shhhh. The Undead will never be "defeated" and their city will be too "desolate" and "destroyed" for them to move back in. They can stay with us. For as long as they need

Why not both?

Why don't we subtly gain a foothold in the newly reconquered city with traders, observers, homeguard, and mimics and then mind control the inhabitants.

The elves are not suspecting this. They think we're lawful good.
>>
>>26380263
Do we really know what they think of us though? I'm not saying they're plotting against us but I'm not saying they're not
>>
>>26380263
its just easier to infect them while there in the hive now that's not to say we wont do it with others just not with the elves
>>
>>26380311
We could lure quite a few settlers to the city, but I see your point.

We'll just have to wait and see which option is the best. If they're the last elves in the region, then infestation is good. If there are other cities that have survived, well then we'll have to be careful.

It's certainly a charade I'd like to get over with.
>>
>>26380346
Patience brother, we've got to get the necessary mutations before we can go around controlling people. It'll probably take 30+ Mutation Cycles just to get all of them, and more if one of them fails. I love your zeal for bringing more under the control of our All-Knowing God Queen, it brings warmth to the heart of a middle-aged Admiral without a fleet to see such zeal in the younger clutches.
>>
The hunters try to hide the traps, but it seems like they're getting more obvious.

The fishermen try to identify the bigger fish, but don't seem to know what or where it's from. Mikey throws it back into the ocean yelling "Be free, Willy!"

The warriors practice surprise attacks. They get the idea of possibly using webbing with arrows, but that would have to be done perfectly to be a success.

The scouts follow black sand beach. The stretch of it goes on for a while.

The Houndsmen practice shooting on the run. They are able to hit with both bows.

The workers and homeguard set up various tree traps involving swinging logs and an avalanche of lumber rolling down the mountain.

"Asking us if we want an underground city is like asking us if we wish we were dwarves. We wish to be under the sun though we know that this may not be possible. Should the Southern Kingdom fall to the damned, I would consider seeking out a land that has not embraced death." ~Barchetta

The farmers try to get some tilling done, but Mikey keeps messing with the trees.

The Alchemists try to work on making a slow burning solvent that would work on metal, but nothing seems to take. Mikey lit himself on fire.

The scavengers can carry heavier loads than they normally would be able to with this wheeled container. It is hard to use in rocky areas though.

The Geneweavers suspect that this strength cannot fully be gained. They hypothesize that her holiness may be able to give the hive troll regenerating properties with improved eat and adapt.

The Mikeys happen upon a city that's in mid strife. Catapults throw rocks and bombs into the undead ranks and war machines. Once most of the siege weapons are gone, a dragon mad of bone descends from the sky and rams itself into the front gate as a host of undead flood into the city. The elves detonate bombs to cave the entrance in and cut down most of the dead that got in. The undead war machines, at this point out of projectiles, begin hurling heads into the city in a last ditch effort to spread pestilence. This covers the undead retreat as a litch blights the ground. The elves manage to spur some grappling hooks onto the bone dragon to prevent its escape. They splinter the wing bones with maces as the dragon fights to free itself. It bites one of its captors in half and claws another one right through the chest before the elves take out its femur and tear it down. The city safe, the Mikey Brigade decides to make this place their pet project. The Observer walks up to the walls and shouts, "We wish to know what is happening. Will you let us in?" The guards are bewildered that bugs are talking to them. "We share a common enemy. Let us share knowledge." The elves let you inside. You can tell that this city is on the front line of this war. It has fared better than some, but the walls are crumbling and the undead only relent to become stronger.

Could work well. Especially if, after a succesful bailout, we introduce the elves we selflessly rescued to them and offer to help rebuild the damage in their city. One big act of kindness and their doors are open to us. This is, of course, when we take them all for the hive.

Two points of contention: I think putting the Sub-Queens in a cart and having the wolves pull it would be smart and an advancement and having the workers dig the tunnel instead of the Sub-Queens and Houndsmen travel overland is safer. As long as there's no sudden strikes of Mikey

That gave me the best idea I've had yet. Once we turn whale into a bug boat, and hopefully using Geneweaver-dickering we can make more of them. We take some of the bugboats, and put wheels on them. We then have Trojan Horses, but that are made of whale

>>
>>26382341
Hopefully it will be possible without too much micromanagement.

We should really start organizing them into workgroups/armies.
>>
>>26381757
The hunters, thank the queen, hide the traps correctly this time.

The fishermen catch some fish. This is the first time in a while that fish have gone directly to the hive.

The warriors practice their surprise attack method. It's starting to show some promise.

Your scouts happen upon an elven caravan going from north to south.

The hound seems to be able to carry the container well.

The workers expand downward into the mountain. They find a type of stone that glows red. It is brought to the queen right away.

After apologizing, you talk to the guard a little more. Your language skills improve. You can now speak more advanced elven language. Ghrindis, a female elf, teaches you about all of the different kinds of Mer (elves). JukMer, wood elves from these lands. They have an attunement to the wood here. It's not that it's magical, but this is where they chose to make their home. The GiganMir, Dwarves, shaped the underground to the west. They were known for their overflowing coffers and mugs. It has been a long time since anyone has heard from them. The OrMir, Drow, are suspect for the GiganMir's downfall. They were known to fight the Dwarves from time to time over the underground. The RueMir, Snow Elves, live far north of here in a tundra plain. They mostly keep to themselves. And finally, the Highborn, said to be the direct descendants of the oldest of Mir. Once a proud people, brought to their knees when the others rose up and fought off their tyranny. Not many of them exist anymore. The Undead's use of magic makes them a prime suspect of being risen dead for the old war.

The farmers do some more farming. It doesn't seem like any of these new trees bare any fruit though.

The Homeguard practice guarding in the case of a siege. They do a horrible job.

The Alchemists use strands of hunter silk to adhere a slow burning solvent to the sword. It works like a charm.

Your observer asks if they would like assistance in fighting on this front. You are brought to see Commander Sig, the sole survivor of Tethe'Alla. A gaunt elf stares through you. "I remember you from the battle. Your kind held the front during the battle. You wish to aid us again? We're losing people every day and the dead show no signs of stopping. It seems that when a strategy works, they march all of the way through with it, but when it fails, they back off and reform their ranks. Their ranks are endless so I don't see why they're pulling back even when a strategy doesn't fully pan out for them. If there is any assistance at all that you can give us, we will take it.

I think this proves the theory that the undead cannot think much on their own. The liches plan it all, and must communicate the whole plan beforehand. In the heat of battle, the undead can't improvise - they simply follow through with their plan. Being on the defensive against the undead is problematic. A surprise attack would devastate their ranks, as they'd have to wait orders. Bug Blitzkrieg is the path to follow.
>>
>>26382864
>"If their ranks are endless, then we must find their source. Their hivequeen and master. When she dies, then their warriors will scatter and be hunted down."

Ultimate plan: we strike their flank where they least expect it and catch the lich when he's trying to figure out what's going on. He does not think us sentient and will assume that his minions are having trouble with some stupid bugs. Like most villains, he will think that it's a job that has to be done by him if it's to be done right.

>>26382912
Probably a good idea to build the nest in an area separate from the elves. That hive should produce mostly warriors and be fed with a small fungal farm or by caravan from the central hive.
>>
>>26382982
The Mikeys are all present. They're not causing havok this early. They might start eating the undead in front of the elves soon.
>>
>>26383020
This also proves that the elves are vulnerable to mass wave tactics. A strategy we might wish to employ ourselves should the need arise.

I think we should keep the queens safely in our hives. We don't want any of our sacred mothers to fall into the hands of a necromancer. If we are going to attack, we should breed a massive amount of warriors and houndsmen first. At this point we should have weaponized explosives as well - we can have our flying scavengers work as aerial bombardment, lighting and dropping bombs on the undead ranks.

The reason why their ranks seem endless is because every assault on the elven city yields new undead as well. They hold all the cards while on the offense, but will crumple if caught off guard.

Until then, lets lay low, evolve, and breed.

Scavengers: keep at it
Geneweavers: keep focasing on geneweaving
MIKEY'S QUEST:explain what the elves are getting as back up also ask for a place to set up shop
Clergy: 4 of you start morphing into subqueens

Is this a good plan? Also we have 129 unassigned. I would like 1 of them to be fed nothing but Troll to see if eating troll causes them to Mikey. Any ideas on how to split them would be appreciated

I vote this one.

The lich are unaware of our presence, so far as I know. Our hive is perfectly camouflaged on a cliff face, only we know where the entrance is.

But yeah, if we're going to preemptively attack, we should do it before this elven city falls. If they fall, the undead gain even more manpower.
>>
>>26383381
i like this
>>
>>26383241
Mutation failed. The Geneweavers and Queen managed to save some EVO points. It should be this turn that they get it (provided rolls are done right.)

This is why next major mutation (queen mutation) is going to be to have our dead bodies fall to pieces on death. I'm thinking that, with all the fireproofing and how we have no wooden infrastructure, bursting into flame might be a good idea.

Looks like it's this one.

Where is this sub-queen morph going on? At the elf city or one of the hives?

We failed one earlier so we just need 3 more EVO points don't have tose yet.
5 Holy Clergy, 53 Warriors, 30 Homeguard, 4 Scavengers, 4 Observers, 4 Hunters, 4 Fishermen, 20 HoundMaster 4 Scouts, and 1 Alchemist to be the test dummy for only eating Troll.
Is that a good Caste split to you guys?

>>
>>26383381
The hunters come back with a lot of food.

The fishermen have a relatively bad haul today, but with both spawning pools, they don't have to do all that well anymore.

The warriors keep practicing their surprise attack. Nor real progress made.

The scouts don't know how fast or far the convoy is going, but the observer notices that they are transporting gray grain. (I can't believe you managed to find this)

The farmers catalogue all of the tree seeds that were planted. They continue tilling. The crop this time around isn't bad.

The workers begin work on a tunnel going from the hive all of the way to the Elven Front. They manage to go quite a distance.

The houndsmen set up the most docile of wolves to containers.

Observers think of how to chop a tree faster than our ridiculous mandibles. They come up with a hatchet for those trees that are too big for us to cut.

The homeguard keep practicing, but they're still lacking.

Mikey tries to mix the flammable material into the hot liquid. It ignites in a funny way and harms the production.

The scavengers don't know how to improve this container.

Maybe we should give the acid spikes to the homeguard. Make them kind of like roaches.

>>26383805
>>26383966
WE HAVE TO STOP THAT GRAIN RIGHT THE FUCK NOW
>>
>>26383966
why ? can you explain
>>
>>26383805
Mikey Quest: "We are going to bring in a few of our underqueens to give birth to new warriors to aid the town with. Is there anywhere suitable" the observer asks. Sig, with a slightly disturbed look, recommends the house towards the back of town. Many of the people who lived in that area fled the city when things got bad. The Mikeys start digging a basement for the place and barely cover it when the clergy arrive. They start their underqueen transformation right away.
>>
>>26383966

Why is this bad? Does the grain infect them because the undead have corrupted it? I missed something
>>
>>26383989
I think we're going for an Ultralisk feel with the Homeguard. Our Warriors can spit fire and acid at the same time and our resident Roaches

>>26383998
Do explain. I don't understand how them bringing them the blighted grain.....oooooohh
>>
>>26383998
>>>>Corrupted wheat fields
never mind yeah we got to stop this shit
>>
>>26383998
Basically, that grain is coming from the north (where the undead rule). That grain is blighted to make the elves sick. It is also the reason that the undead pulled back. They want to weaken the elves at the front so that they can march right on through. Honestly, I didn't think you guys would have caught this, but the observer was a beast.
>>
>>26384035
Seige caste is ultralisk, but the homeguard will still be around.
>>
>>26384044
Just to be the devil's advocate here, what if they're bringing it to them to research it? Also should we bring the South City food if we have the chance
>>
>>26384099

also the tunnel can help with that
>>

>>
>>26384092
Or not. I think we have a new caste for those who are the complete opposite of Mikeys. Any idea for the name of this new Heroicly Competant caste
>>
>>26384099
That could be the case, but we need to warn them and burn the grain if they don't know. And I don't think there's anything they can do.

We may have to start a "feed the elves" program.
>>
>>26384139
syekim how bout this
>>
>>26384158
This Observer shall be the first in the new Competent Class Syekim. Should we have them teach the Mikeys how to not suck? Or should we keep the Mikeys incompetent?
>>
>>26384185
No the Mikeys are our special caste. They are useful for fodder in dangerous expeditions that other castes aren't stupid enough to sign up for.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcNLuH1XWfI
>>
>>26384185
well we do need suicide squads of fanatics and honestly a fanatic trying to regain there's gods blessing might be more useful then someone who just got a pat on the head
>>
>>26384259
Yeah. Mikeys are a redemption through death kind of caste. They will die one day. And it should be a glorious death.
>>
>>26384225

This is gonna be a little controversial, but if we can figure out how he survived the shinification, i want that to be the new mikey joining ritual.

The hunters come back with a relatively poor haul.

The fishermen, also get a poor catch.

Warriors don't believe that they can do better at this point. They feel like the only way to find out if it works is to actually use it.

The observer tries to explain what is wrong with the grain and the man driving the cart dashes off. Neither the Observer nor the scouts were able to catch him.

The houndsmen try a charge, but they miss. This is new to them after all.

The workers continue tunneling their way over to the Southern Front.

The observers try to think of better ways to move things up heights, but all they seem to think about is using a stupid amount of birds. They're sure it doesn't work, but their curious minds want nothing more than to test it.

The farmers do not farm good.

The homeguard are getting better, but damn do they need work.

One of the Alchemists suggests crushing up dried flammable herbs into a powder.

The scavengers scavenge a bunch of food from the forest and haul it over to the Elven city. They use it to help feed the Mikey Brigade as well as the underqueens.

The mimics introduce themselves to the elves. They're a little startled at first because they look something like the picture, but take to the mimics better than expected. The elves tell them how a ballista works (This can be made next turn).

Will continue with Mikey Quest separately.
>>
>>26384911
Things to consider: Ask elves if there's anything disturbing or upsetting about the mimic's form. Fixing now will make lives much easier.
>>
>>26384911

>>
Just had a brilliant idea.

Alchemists: Work out an antidote to the gray grain.
>>
>>26385096
But that might require test subjects, unless they get lucky.

Wait! The Mikeys!
>>
>>26385096
GIVE THIS MAN A MEDAL! We just need to pray to the God Queen that another Mikey doesn't arise. We can send the scouts to the Northern Fields to get some more.
>>
"Put those bones over in that pile to be consecrated," and elf orders as many more elves pick up the dragon bones and move them into another pile. You can see them hard at work repairing the wall.

"May I ask about your defense strategy here," your observer asks. The elf looks over at the observer with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, rebuild, re-equip, re-prepare. We smooth out the walls so that the undead can't climb it. That didn't stop the wraiths or the dragon though. We're lucky we can cut them off from the rest. We thought the wraiths were our biggest problem because physical attacks go right through them and there are a lot of wraiths, but seeing the kind of structural damage that dragon did makes me think otherwise. Sig had it all figured out though. He knew that the undead would try to knock our front wall in so we rigged the sides with explosives to collapse any breaches. After that, the undead started running. Probably because their cannons were busted. Our overall plan? All I want to do is survive as long as I can."

"How can we be of assistance," your observer responds.

"If you ask me, any way you can. If you can build a sturdy wall, if you can fight, whatever!"

"May I inspect the bombs? I may be able to reproduce them." Mikey chimes in.

"Here," he says as he hands Mikey a bomb, "just don't blow yourself up."

Observer Mikey inspects the bomb. He pulls out the fuse and shakes out the inside. It appears to be some kind of black powder that is very flammable. He figures that the pressure causes the iron to burst, sending shrapnel in all directions at high speed.

Everyone agreeing on this one?
>>
>>26385456
Yes but with Warriors spar with the Homeguard because the Warriors really need something productive to do
>>
>>26385427
I would, but i kind of want battle axes soon. They're very in line with our aesthetic. And then i can make halberds for the mounted troops. Which will be awesome. Since halberds are best polearm.
>>
>>26385456
Yeah, but I'd like some surround training so we don't have a repeat of last time.
>>
>>26385490
Shit. Um. Yes.

Hunters: Go out egg-hunting, and gather them together.
Fishermen: Explore the waters by the black sand beach, looking for a source of heat. I assume the volcano is underwater, since we didn't get mentioned one on the land.
Warriors: Train one-v-many tactics, and how to deal with being flanked and surrounded.
Scouts: Trace the tracks of the convoy back to where it came from.
Houndsmen: Keep Trying.
Workers: Keep going
Observer: Try making the Armored Mikey process repeatable.
Farmers: Farm Moar
Homeguard: Get Better.
Alchemists: Work on an antidote to the grey grain
Scavengers: Search the battlefield around Elf City for any remnants of undead weaponry.
Mimics: talk to elves about magic. If any of them have it, we might be able to learn how it works (and how to resist it)
MIKEY'S QUEST: Talk to the elves about the grey grain, and ask what Consecration means. Active mikeys do work to help based on your old specs. Whenever the queens start up, half workers, half warriors until stated otherwise. Workers build the wall, and if our stuff worked, coat it in wax. That should be nice and impossible to climb. Warriors pad out the garrison, and get into position to use acid shots on incoming wraiths.
>>
>>26385479
Didn't we already make Halberds?
>>26385510
Homeguard can practice surrounding The Wariiors
>>
>>26385412

Guys... what if we live inside the volcano? The cliff is on a mountainside. The water we drink is from deep within and is warm and smells of sulfur.
>>
>>26385522
Nope. Hatchets. Don't have anything axelike other than that.
>>
>>26385537
Then our beach would be black sand.

>>26385537
OP wouldn't do that, right? The ground water just has a bit of dissolved sulfates in it.
>>
>>26385538
Wait, they were shitty stone halberds yeah Hatchts are cool.
>>
>>26385570
We're NEAR a volcano. not in one. It's too cold.
>>
>>26385510
Is this okay with everyone? I kinda want to move on.
>>
>>26385549

If you look at the map, it seems like that beach is also just east of us. Then again, the map is MS paint
>>
>>26385599
It's apparently far enough we couldn't see it from our mountain
>>
>>26385538
Actually, you guys managed to make stone halbards a while back but it's stone. Not iron.
>>
>>26385598
Yes of course. Warriors can spar with Homeguard later.
>>
>>26385609

So, we've got some molds to make. Holy shit.
>>
I'm also surprised that you guys figured out that the black sand was obsidian and not gunpowder. I was sure you guys would check that first.
>>
>>26385645
A Beach of gunpowder would be really awesome though, just for the laughs.
>>
>>26385510
Is this what we're doing for now?
>>
>>26385666
Yessir
>>
>>26385645
Gunpowder doesn't occur naturally. It's a mixture of charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter. And the volcano is a great source for sulfur.
>>
Oh, guys. Soonish, we need to figure out acid-resistant metal. So we can drop bombs with an acid layer that will then coat the shrapnel when it explodes. To add agony to injury.
>>
>>26385677
I still figured someone would try it lol.
>>
Weird question, Klax. Has any elf been sick around us? Like, coughing, sneezing, fever, any of that? I'd like to know IMMEDIATELY if we observe that.
>>
>>26385719
Why?
>>
>>26385727

I wanna make a plaguebearer for the purposes of weaponry later. But we don't know what "sick" is. So we can't very well do that.
>>
>>26385704
We can attach them to the Iron Mikeys.
>>26385727
The Hive Alchemist has his reasons
>>
>>26385748
Oh. That's diabolical.
>>
>>26385765
I'm also responsible for the mikeys. I'm kind of an awful person.
>>
>>26385789
Remember when the initiation was to eat some of the zombie?
>>
>>26385806
Indeed. We need to figure out worse things to do to the mikeys. I'm wondering if we can turn them into suicide bombers for key strategic wall-sappings.

God dammit, i can't remember the process for producing nitroglycerine. Stupid memory. Can't remember half the fun stuff from my chemistry degree.
>>
>>26385838
Once we figure out bombs we just melt the bombs to them during the Armorering process! Take that with as many grains of salt that you require to make that make sense, because I have very little clue on how Science works.
>>
>>26385869
uh, that'd certainly work if we can figure out a detonation scheme. I know a lot of explosives can be set off with acid, but they're pretty high-end, and i'm not sure the GM wants us working with plastique
>>
>>26385510
The hunters go out picking eggs off the cliff face today. Mikey gets hungry so he starts throwing the eggs at a passing bird, knocking it out of the sky and eating it.

The fishermen notice an underwater volcano that billows out plumes of obsidian. The larger chunks seem to fall to the ground, but small granules tend to be swept over to the beach by the current.

The warriors really suck at one vs many tactics. When surrounded, they just don't know what to do.

The scouts follow the tracks of the convoy north back to the original Elven city that you found (Tethe'Alla). The tracks go further than that, but your scouts don't want to risk being caught by the undead.

The houndsmen improve considerably at jousting. They might be ready for combat.

A worker manages to pop his head up under the basement of the house you commandeered. Your tunnel system was a success!

The Observers use a pulley to dip a Mikey into the liquid Iron. He writhes in pain and squirms in the pulley system until they manage to get him into the water. This was done masterfully. Had they done any worse, Mikey could have been blinded or killed.

The farmers start to get to work on finding a tree that bears fruit.

Mikey fucks up the whole defense system when he decides to pour acid down the portcullis as opposed to fire. This eats through the stone and Mikey falls through. They have to fix that portcullis.

The alchemists don't know where to begin looking for an antidote. They will probably need a lit of that grain and a lot of time.

The scavengers find a bunch of old equipment that was undoubtedly used in the Elven war. They're not sure how much of it is salvageble though.

The mimics ask the elves about magic. "The JukMir haven't been known to use magic. It's fabled that our queen and a few of the nobles might use it, but it's way beyond our reach," Barchetta replies.
>>
Well, it looks like soldiers get extra training.
>>
"What do you know about the gray grain," the observer asks.

"gray grain," Sig cuts in, "where have you seen this grain?"

"In the north. We believe it makes you sick."

"I'd rather be sick then starving. Our food shipment is late."\

"What is consecration?"

"We bless the corpses so they don't come back."

The Mikey's help out around the town lifting heavy stuff and helping prepare defenses.
>>
>>26385921
I'm guessing after Mikey Quest this'll be the last turn. However, I would like throw these suggestions our for next turn:
Workers: Fix Portculis
Warriors spar with Homeguard
Scouts and Houndsmen follow tracks
Scavengers get some blighted wheat for alchemists
Observers continue to create Iron Mikeys
Mimics ask Elves about Tactics to use when surrounded, they seemed to do well for themselves during that battle.
>>
>>26386042
Sounds about right. This probably needs to get archived before it 404's
>>
Hunters: Go out egg-hunting, and gather them together.
Fishermen: Bring back any substances from around the volcano. Especially anything yellow and foul-smelling.
Warriors: THink about how to make the hatchet more battle-worthy.
Scouts: Practice long-distance flying.
Houndsmen: Keep Trying.
Workers: Start honeycombing the area around the hive with small tunnels, giving us a lot of ways to make the place easy to ambush enemies in, and move around in.
Observer: Make some metal halberds.
Farmers: Farm Moar
Homeguard: Fix the defenses.
Alchemists: Play with the bomb parts and figure out how to replicate all the bits.
Scavengers: Haul in food for the elves, in exchange for the shipment of grain when it comes in. and the people bringing the grain, for questioning.
Mimics: Talk to elves about cartography, and see if they'll contribute to our knowledge of the world. (Some basic ideas of where other things are)
MIKEY'S QUEST: (How long until the queens are ready?) Keep helping with the defenses, mention the wraith's weakness to acid and ask where they tend to come in
>>
>>26386069

Should actually be ready now, but I'm ready to archive this thread. I'm going to have some stuff to do tomorrow so I was thinking about starting tomorrow's thread a little later.
>>
>>26386056
Archived :)
>>
>>26386109
Any idea about when, so i don't miss as much thread this time?
>>
I have some job stuff to take care of so I'll try to start up as soon as I'm done with that. I can't say how long though. At its latest, I would assume 6 PM central which will give us about 8-10 hours of game time.
>>
>>26386152
Can we get whether the mutations went off?
>>
>>26386117
If you arrive late I'm sure you'll have enough time to read up before anyone gets a list of actions posted. Leaving actions open ended may get creative responses from people, but it also takes a while to get people to vote on things. You guys have been exceptional about that.
>>
>>26386112
...

Guys.

guys guys guys

if our observer at mikeys needs to see anything, it's the consecration.

holy shit holy shit.
>>
>>26386163
The previous mutations worked. I do my success rolls on here so you guys get to know how it went.
>>
