One year and eight months ago, you were a Magical Girl. Sent over for a typical delivery mission to the Eighth Officio in America. Currently, you're trying to get some food inside you, until something happened that made you feel like you're back in Middle School, again.

Trying your best to hunker down and eat your lunch without attracting too much attention. Friendless and alone at that table in the corner of the packed cafeteria, everyone else - including your own classmates - afraid to even so much as wave at you, for fear of being associated with the transfer student.
>>
>>26388898

The LOSER. The NERD. The weird kid whose family didn't even have enough money for a school laptop, who saved every yen she could spare so she could commute to the record store downtown. To listen to demo CDs, all afternoon, until it was either closing time or the store's owner finally took notice and ushered her out.

You're not that kid anymore, but you recognize deja vu when it's all but cackling right in front of your face, after drenching you in the crotch with the ice-cold glass of icy, lemon-flavored realization.

This has happened to you before. This exact same situation.

The only difference was that back then, you were just a clumsy, tall rail of a girl who liked music too much, and your assailants a group of particularly-nasty upperclassman looking to make themselves feel better by stomping on the new kid. And when they knocked your soda over into your lap, you merely apologized and cried as they laughed.

But you're no longer in middle school, now. You're not even in Japan anymore. And no longer just a harmless, bullied student, but someone who could, if they put their mind to it - take a tank shell right in the chest, keep moving, and then cut in half the tank that had the temerity to shoot you.

With your left hand.

And you're not even left handed.

A fact that probably would be lost to your current aggressors at the moment - seeing as it's that same hand you reached up with and grabbed a handful of the smirking Eighth Officio member's hair. Using that as purchase to jerk her head down and forward - right into the deadly headbutt you've practiced a thousand times since then. The headbutt your friend and one-time savior taught you. A pink-haired friend, loud and cheerful and rough around the edges, who greeted you with a grin as you passed by the convenience store she was squatting in front of, a cigarette pinched between thumb and forefinger.

[1/2]
>>
>>26388909

...You don't really know what happened to her, though. She just disappeared all of a sudden, during your second year. She stopped showing up at the convenience store, or any of the other places you've seen her loiter around in. Vanished, just like that. And no one seemed to remember her or her name.

Except you, of course. You remember her name.

Her last name, anyway.

Kaneda.

You also remember, of course, how she advised you to keep hold of the person whose face you've just slammed your forehead into, and to use that hold to follow up.

And that's exactly what you did. Right after savoring the sound - and sensation - of the girl's nose breaking in the impact. Sure, it stung, and the headbutt did make your ears ring - but you were already moving, pulling the girl downward again as you stood up. Driving her face down into your plate of barely-touched mashed potatoes. The girl in your grasp squawking in pain and rage, spitting curses this way and that before being cut off in a wet, mashed squelch.

Yes, this could be considered puerile, immature by your standards. Taking the low road, so to speak, a thing you've lectured your fellow Eversors for.

But you don't really care about that. Not right now.

"An' when she's sufferin' the indignity of havin' her face ground into the table, that's when you give her what little left of her dignity back, an' throw her to her friends," You could hear her voice lecturing you in that thick Kansai accent she had. "'Ain't really right to hold on longer'n that. After that, well...it's up to you. Let 'er lick 'er wounds and slink away with her support group, or...y'know. Give her another opportunity to embarrass herself by throwin' down the gauntlet. One on one."

"And then?" You asked her, eyes wide, voice hoarse from crying too much.

She grinned at you. "An' then you have fun."

You didn't even need to transform, but you wanted to make a point. A single thought had your soaked, sticky clothes replaced by your costume - fresh, crisp, and smelling of mint and promised bloodshed - the energy gathered by the transformation released in a thunderclap of pressure, knocking over other glasses and billowing skirts and hair. With one hand still keeping your victim's head firmly mashed against your plate, you bite into a gloved finger, ripping off the magically-created white silk and grasping it flat against your palm.

The moment you pull the girl's head back up - her face covered with clumps of processed, buttery potato - it's then that you deliver a roundhouse slap with your degloved hand, putting your entire upper body into the rotation. Your bare hand making a satisfying CRACK of a noise as it connects, sending the girl flying and into her clique - all of whom seem commendably quick-witted and loyal enough to catch her. She stands up, nose bloody, face coated in artificial butter - and you glove sticking to her reddened cheek, an adhesive palmprint of a bitchslap.

"You...you rice-eating, raw fish-huffing WHORE of a sparkle bitch," She spits, hand going to her own weapons. "You can't fucking DO that to me--"

"Satisfaction." You cut her off, growling out the single word in the now-deafening silence of the cafeteria. "I demand satisfaction."

For a few moments, nothing. Not even a cough, or a weak jeer.

Then.

"Fight." It started as a murmur from across the cafeteria. "Fight." The single word, spoken in English, starts to catch on to the rest. "Fight. Fight. Fight." A few moments more, and it's now being shouted, a single word mantra, a roared taunt, the baying of blood.

[3/4]
>>
>>26388942

The girl in front of you now staring around her, wildly, through her mask of mashed potato. Seeing not only her fellow Officio mates egging the fight on - but also the members of her clique.

"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"

She can deal with that afterwards. Sayaka can cut pain receptors down, though as Kyubey said, it "makes you slower to react". An easy kill is simply to get stabbed, make sure nothing too vital is hit, and stab them back more securely while their weapon's engaged.

It's fine as long as long as you care more over stabbing the fuck out of the other guy more than getting stabbed.

Uh wasnt Malal named Kanade Madoka not Kaneda?
Does this mean that there are two shorthaired badass Meducas running around this timeline?

And if Decu just had a typo then all the Implications make my head overheat.

I mean, god damnit Malal, why did you never tell Sallaka? Just like taking Kirika along with you, this is one of the decisions that are Kharn-Levels of stupid!

Also, lets sum that up: This worlds Kanade Madoka made a wish that turned her not into god, but into Psyker-Freakshow in a leathersuit, she is the right hand of Kharn whose lust for battles is only diminished by her lust for pantsu and may or may not have had a secret crush on Kharn in the past before she was killed by a possibly crazy or just plain retarded monster Kharn just like the majority of the Culexus-Hikis to do.. stuff, which only Kharn survived who continued to be pantsu-on-head retarded even after being shoved off to Siberia.

Did summarize that well or did I forget something?

Inside is what looks to be a small wallet-sized picture of a girl with pink hair and crimson eyes, wearing a magical girl costume that was very, VERY familiar. It was obviously a self-taken photo, seeing as the girl was holding a smartphone up with one gloved hand - the other holding a sideways V sign with her fingers over her right eye. >>26389493
Her wish was very different from any of her cannon wishes. She had a lot of time to think about it.

From the 83rd thread:
>"Dreams," Malal explains, tapping her temple with a gloved finger. "Always got them ever since I was a kid. Not the sort you get from eating too much before bedtime, stuff like that - but really detailed ones. Dreamed of myself in that getup, and I thought to myself how silly it is. Fighting monsters in a DRESS? Yeah, no thanks. So when the mutant cat came to me with the contract, I knew what wish to make. How to make it, too." She smiles again, seemingly full of pride.

I'd like to note that Kyuubey's also allowed a pension for retired Magical Girls, something that he probably wouldn't do unless he had a guaranteed steady supply of grief seeds.
>>

Kyuubey 1. Recruited Malal himself, and 2. Has her picture without helmet on file.

There is a 0% chance that he does not know.
>>
>>26389589
He must have known what Malal looked like.
He had to meet her in person to contract her. She didn't start wearing her suit until after she became a meguca. He also has a picture of her, one that we saw after we killied Kirika. We just didn't know it was her.
>>
Anyone got last thread archived?
>>
>>26389568
Well, there does seem to be a much larger number of Magical Girls running about. More Megucas means more Witches, more witches means more grief seeds.
And without Walpurgis Night to thin the herds...
>>
>>26389589

There was a picture of Malal in his office. He knows. And there was one flashback, I don't remember who, that the narrator walked into Kyubey's office and Malal was already there, putting o no her helmet as the speaker walked in.

Malal had meetings with Kyubey sans helmet.

It would be safe to assume he knew what Malal looked like before they got a visual representation of Faust.

No, she's engaging in Sayaka style Bitch-Emperor-of-Bitchkind-ery, with the pretence they bitched first.

We're talking about close to a thousand Megucas from one Officio alone, with ten (or was it twelve?) Officios.

Even if the numbers vary between those, it'd still make for a heck of a lot of Megucas to keep supplied with Grief Seeds, which may not cut it with simple hunting unless you've got witches up the wazoo.

I still think he's "factory making" those grief seeds, so to speak.
>>
>>26389682
Twenty Officios, actually.
>>
>>26389639
ive also wondered. with say 2 thousand girls running around in japan alone. even if not all them are doing field work, how many witches would there need to be on a monthly basis for there to be enough seeds to maintain that number of active duty field agents? In major japanese cities where there are large enough populations for witches to congregate and feed. 1 seed ever 2 weeks at the least for each girl maybe? that is a lot. a lot of witch victims. a lot of grim dark.

>That's one heck of a way to subvert it, that blasted mutant cat.

This is actually something he didnt have anything to do with. In the series it was heavily implied that the wishes were fueled by your Karma and this is why your wish always came back to fuck you over: Because it created a karmic imbalance.

Basically: The more unhappiness in your life = the more powerful your negative karma = The more powerful your wish = the more powerful the backlash.

This is what was implied by the Mutant-Spacecat in the series, that Megucas fuck themselves over by making a wish when unhappy and the Incubators just use them to harvest the karmic energy.

If I remember correctly, most of them are not on actuve duty and do paperwork or whatever, so not consuming magic and don't need any grief seeds. That's why there is an active duty roster.
And I think there was at least one officio that does witch hunting exclusively and probably trades the harvested grief seeds. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

>Oh, as for Q and A, How does Kyubey and the other officios get enough Grief Seeds to support all of their magical girls? Do the coobs just suck the despair out and reuse the same grief seeds, or are there just that many witches running around to kill? Is it just one officio that mainly focuses on killing witches and they sell excess Grief Seeds to other Incubators?

>Part of the answer is secret, but I'll tell you what I can.
>The part about recycling grief seeds is correct, but there are witches all over the world to fight, yes. There's also the deal with Officios having an active duty roster - at any one time, only a fraction of the Magical Girls in an Officio are using their Soul Gems. The rest are going about their daily lives, untransformed and not accruing any 'despair' but still earning money by doing other mundane assignments (such as research, clerk work, or even community service). There is also one Officio that is dedicated completely to hunting witches, but we'll get to that soon.

Your pink-haired friend - your only friend during Middle School, at that - seemed to have a lot of wisdom and experience, even when she looked younger than you by a few years at least. She was way shorter than you, anyway. And her hair was cut in a rather boyish style that you always thought looked cute on her, despite how much it made her look like...well, a boy.

With the stuff she talked about and the things she taught you...she might as well have been.

Besides teaching you how to properly headbutt someone without hurting yourself too much - she also taught you how to play the crowd you'd be attracting if you took action. She knew that you didn't really have that kind of violence in you back then, besides that one surprise attack - and you'd inevitably get ganged up on if you let her recover.

This was, of course, the same situation back then. As confident as you were about your abilities - you have no doubt that you could easily reave this cafeteria clean of enemy heartbeats if they let you get a blade each in both hands - but you remember that you're not Kharn. You're not Kirika. You hold yourself to a different ideal, even if it was a constant uphill battle.

Kaneda taught you to intimidate. To not resort to violence - and murder - the first opportunity that presents itself. Looking dangerous is just the same as being dangerous - the only difference was that the former tended to involve much less needless bloodshed. Much less needless dying.

You will not be the first to start a war between two Officios. You will not be the one to spoil this first meeting. You will not have that kind of mark on your record, and on your conscience.

So, like you've learned - you're going to play the crowd.

"Well?" You ask the girl softly, gently, your voice carrying across the cafeteria despite the din. The shouting dwindles, then stops, the pregnant silence slamming down hard on the bloodthirsty crowd. "Are you a bitch or a coward?"

[1/2]
>>
>>26389868

The crowd's jeers and catcalls make the girl's potato-ensmeared face redden. Her hand still on her holstered weapon, the joints of her glove creaking with how tightly she's squeezing on the grip. You could see it in her body language - she wants to do this, but at the same time she's...hesitant. Unwilling. Only now recognizing just what she's done, and is completely flabbergasted that you've managed to turn her entire home team advantage against her.

You'd have let her leave with what little of her dignity remained here, but...well. She did ruin your clothes. Clothes that Kyoko bought for you, on the rare occassions she went with you during a shopping trip.

Stepping forward amidst the jeers - the girl immediately backing away and bumping against one of her friends - you thrust your gloved hand right into a discarded slice of strawberry cake. You take hold of a familiar grip, before drawing it out in a slow, silken hiss. The brilliant blade of one of your manifested swords so pure, so sharp, that it sang as its edge cut the very air that you dragged it through.

"She's got a sword!" One of the Eighth's girls gasp, and the chanting starts again. Apparently thinking that you're about to turn this little encounter into a bloodbath.

Americans.

The chant stops dead again as you throw the blade over to the girl - a mere flick of your wrist sending it spearing at a downward angle, stabbing right into the floor between the girl's booted feet.

The moment she looks up at you is the moment you spread your arms open.

"You know what? Here. Take the first shot."

You couldn't help but grin the grin Kaneda had flashed you, once, before walking up and punching your bully right in the teeth.

"Take that sword. Cut me anywhere you want. And don't hold back."

There's a moment of stunned silence before the entire cafeteria explodes in a long, loud roar of cheering.

[2/3]
>>
>>26389873

"Play the crowd, Sayaka-chan. Anyone can win a fight, but winning the crowd? You can get your ass beaten to a pulp and they'd cheer for you no matter what. And whoever had the balls to fuck with you won't even have a face to show her mom."

Amidst the cheering, it's here that the girl finally seems to capitulate. She rips your glove off of her cheek, before spitting on it and then throwing it at your feet.

"FUCK YOU, WHORE!" She screams. "YOU'RE NOT WORTH THE FUCKIN' AMMO ANYWAY! I DON'T NEED THIS!"

She leaves in a huff, pushing past the baying crowd, her clique in tow. Just like how your bully stormed out, covering her mouth while grasping the front teeth Kaneda had broken off.

Deja vu indeed.

The entire crowd slowly gets back to what they were doing before the altercation happened - but not without you getting friendly taps on the shoulder and your hand being shaken. You allow this to happen, trying not to appear too relieved that it didn't turn out to be a massacre - and how friendly they seemed to be, even after you practically humiliated one of theirs in their own headquarters. You even got a nod from a particularly-important looking Magical Girl at the far corner of the room - the insignia on her simple-looking black baseball cap, along with her coat, marking her out as the Warmaster of the Seventeenth.

...Well. You also avoided getting into a scrap with a Warmaster AND starting a three-Officio war.

This day is full of surprises.

With things more or less settling down, you walk toward the sword you'd just offered to your opponent, for her to cut your stomach open with - and it's here that you hear a voice behind you. Speaking in perfect, if slightly-accented Japanese.

"Heh~ So you're the canary we're sending down the tunnel, huh? Well, for someone who's supposed to be the thick, short-tempered prodigy of Kirika-chan that we've heard so much about, you didn't make CHA your dump stat."

...What? What the hell is she talking about?

You tap your fingers against the blade's handle, and it immediately disintegrates into nothing as you turn around, your cape unfurling behind you. Whoever it was wasn't Kirika, and it wasn't the strange girl from earlier.

What greets you is...well, you're not too sure how to describe her?

But the words 'thieving, scheming cat' comes immediately to mind.

No, she's not an actual cat, but if anyone could have such a cat-like expression on their face...she had it. The kind of cat that smiled and purred while you petted it, all the while planning how to best disembowel you in your sleep.

...Same color of hair as Kyoko's, though, just cut in a relatively shoulder-length hairstyle with most of it tied in a neat blue ribbon. A rather slender, shapely frame encased in a brilliant sky-blue...china dress, was it called? Cheongsam or something. Yeah. A thick leather belt, much like Mary's, slung loose over her hips, with some sort of metal rod with buttons and ribbing and wires hanging from a metal ring attached to said belt.

And amber eyes. A darker sort of amber than Mami's own.

How do you react?

You glance at your ruined...lunch thing, then at your ruined glove, before shaking your head and looking back at the girl. You remark, dryly, that not everyone can be like Kirika Kure - and you say this with such dryness that it's obvious that you would rather throw your own Soul Gem into a blender than be like your rank leader.

The amber-eyed girl in the fetching cheongsam giggles at this. "Hah! A sense of humor, too! And someone frank enough to speak her mind, even if the person she's talking to can easily relay such insubordination to her direct superior!" She crosses her arms underneath her ample chest, staring at you pointedly as if waiting for you to plead for her to look the other way.

You disappoint her then by shruggiing here, returning her look - clearly conveying how little you care about being told on. What's Kirika going to do - demote you? One of her ideas for a disciplinary hearing is for you to fight her barehanded while she used her fucking claws. If you managed to get a hit in without being cut once, you got away with whatever you did scot free. Get even so much as a nick and it was spending a night locked in the Silent Room with three blades sticking out of your stomach.

You've stopped fearing what Kirika Kure can do to you, is what you're trying to get at.

"...You know what? I'll add 'stupidly brave' to your Traits," The girl says, still grinning, and apparently still going on with the RPG terminologies. "It makes me kinda miss home, you know? But then again, I've been here nearly all my life." She holds out a hand. "Amber. Amber Nakajima, Eversor. Miki Sayaka-chan, right?" You glance at her hand for a moment, before reaching out and shaking it. With your bare, ungloved hand. "Mary picked you up earlier, right? Did she make the Mickey Mouse joke yet?"

Yeah. Yeah, she did. And called Kirika a spicy dish that originated from India.

"Hah! I should've known!" Amber giggles. "...Sorry about that. New Warmaster's still a bit new to this, and she's one of those simple types that really don't mean any harm to anyone but has a way of saying the wrong thing without meaning to. A bit naive, but she tries her best. Can't really fault anyone like that, now can you?"

No, you suppose not. ...Wait, so she's actually Japanese?

"Yeah." Amber blinks at you. "I...thought the last name and perfect Japanese would give that away." It's here that she suddenly switches to a stilted, almost stereotypical mockery of your native language - the overly-melodic, overly-elongated vowels of a typical American trying their best to get their tongue to work. "Or should I speaking like this day-soo ka? Nay, nay, Mickey-chawn? Mitsubishi, Sashimi, Nissan?"

...

"Aw, not even a giggle?" Amber's smile falls. "That usually gets at least a chuckle! Or a sensible chortle!"

It wasn't very funny, anyway.

"Ah, well. Them's the breaks." The red-haired Eversor shrugs, seemingly giving it up for now. "Anyway, I got sent by Malal-chan to pick you up, lead you to where Operation Blackburn's taking place." She grins again. "I was having a bit of trouble picking you out from the other girls, here - we have a few visitors from other Officios too -" Amber nods at the Warmaster from earlier, getting a nod of her own in return. " --but you were kind enough to help out by breaking Cooper-chan's nose and embarrassing her in front of half the Officio."

Well, you didn't come here to start a war, and that bitch shouldn't have started something she couldn't finish. You're glad it helped out, though.

"Hee. Well, I also thought you wouldn't like what they're serving here, so..." She takes something from behind her, and you spot it as soon as she brings it around. "Come on, you can snack on that while we blow this joint."

An apple. Fresh, red, plump. Looks pretty crunchy, too.

The same kind of apples Kyoko loved to chomp on.

[2/3]
>>
>>26390681

She tosses this your way, and you catch it easily. "Here, snack on that. Should help with the dehydration and get you enough sugar for what you'll be doing."

You thank her just as she leads you out of the cafeteria. After buffing it slightly with your new gloves, you take a large bite of the juicy fruit as you follow her deeper into the building itself. Heading towards one of the waiting elevators nearby. Your eyes somehow getting drawn to her rather curvy posterior, enhanced by the tightness of her dress and teased by the high slit of the dress itself. ...It's almost up to her goddamn waist, that slit. Quite a bold fashion statement.

...Probably would look good on Kyoko, though. You make a note to get something like this for her.

You still couldn't help but examine her posterior as the both of you step into the elevator, doors closing behind you. She steps forward to press at one of the many buttons on the lift's control panel.

"It's really nice of you guys to fly all the way here to do this for us, you know. For Sabrina-chan." It's here that her voice loses its sing-song, lively quality - delivered now in a sincere, sombre voice. "Did Mary tell you that even our biggest silent room can't hold her any longer? Sooner or later, either the entire thing's going to give out or she will. One of them, anyway. Either way, it's bad news." She turns to look at you for a moment, before facing forward once more. "Thank you, Sayaka-chan."

How do you react?

[]Don't thank me. It's Malal's idea. I'm just here on an errand.
[]Accept her thanks with the same sincerity and gravity.
[]Grunt something in acknowledgement as you pull up her skirt to check her underwear. See what kind she's wearing, so you can buy the same for Kyoko.

Jeane doesn't need to be a magical girl, she was already a hardcore motherfucker. There's a fan theory floating around that she's basically an alternate universe version of Gene from God Hand. Low health but insane hand-to-hand attack power and maneuverability. She would have successfully torn Travis's heart out with her bare hands if Shinobu hadn't caught her by surprise.

You take another bite of the apple Amber had given you, chewing for a bit and swallowing - before replying. As much as you appreciate her gratitude - something rare nowadays, anyway - you can't take the credit for this benevolent mission yourself. This is Malal's - the Equerry's - idea, and you're just tagging along on an errand.

...This is a really tasty apple she's given you. Not too sweet, but delightfully crunchy and juicy. It doesn't make you feel like you're eating sand like Washington apples do, either.

"Ah, I see. But still, the fact that you're here...well, it gives me hope that not all of the other Officios are cutthroat and selfish, you know? I'm glad at least some people can still stand to be nice every now and then, even though it doesn't really pay off in the long run." She turns to glance at you again, and she smiles as she sees you eating the apple with gusto. "Tasty, huh? Grew those myself, you know! My own crossbreed, too! Genetically modified to be one hundred percent delicious!"

Really?...You've heard about genetically modified fruit before, but you've always bought organic. It is pretty delicious, though, and...surprisingly, you feel somewhat lighter, more energetic, after polishing it off. You must have been more thirsty and hungry than you thought.

You wipe your gloves on your skirt as you ask her about what she said, earlier. Of course people can still be nice now and then - and what does she mean, it doesn't really pay off in the long run? That's a cynical way of looking at things, isn't it? People are nice not because they want something in return, they're nice because it's the right thing to do, period.

Amber blinks at you, before shaking her head, a small smile curling her lips. "...Hee. Well, don't change or anything, Sayaka-chan. I think we need more Magical Girls like you."

[1/2]
>>
>>26391180

...You shake your head as well. She's not making sense again, but whatever. You're not about to lecture someone else that you've only just met on morality.

You instead ask her what kind of underwearing she's wearing with her dress. Nothing weird, of course, you just want to know.

"Oh~? Sayaka-chan wants to know?" The cat-like expression slides over her face like an automatic mask. "Hnn, well, if it's Sayaka-chan..." Amber simpers, before reaching down with one hand and lifting the hem of her dress. Pulling it up and out of the way, the slit helping here immensely to show you her underwear.

...What the hell?! It's normal, everyday, white underwear!

"What were you expecting?" Amber says innocently, smiling.

Well, for one, you weren't expecting any!

"W-what! How...!" You get the satisfaction, here, of making her blush, her eyes going wide. "That's...that's lewd, you know! You can't go commando in this, everyone would see!"

It's then that her expression turns sly despite her blush, looking at you with a sidelong stare. "Or...or is that what Sayaka-chan wants? Does Sayaka-chan have that kind of taste, wanting me to walk without any underwear whatsoever, for everyone to see everything at the slightest breeze...?"

You blink to reply, before realizing that she'd been closing in on you as the two of you had been talking. Close enough that she's backed you up against the elevator wall. Her soft frame against yours, enough that you can feel her warmth through your own clothes. Smell the milk-scent of her skin.

...HER FACE IS TOO CLOSE. HER FACE. TOO CLOSE.

How do you react?

You're no stranger to unwanted advances yourself, but...for fuck's sake, you didn't even feel her get close to you until it was too late. All but pinning you against the wall of the elevator. Briefly, you contemplate grabbing her by the arm and then slamming her down into the lift floor with a hip throw - that's usually your tactic for anyone who tried to get fresh with you - but again, she was from an Officio that Malal, and therefore the entire Ninth, wanted to make nice with. Some...concessions had to be made.

And she's just teasing anyway, right? ...Right?

It's with both gloved hands, gently resting on her bare shoulders, that you firmly but carefully push her off of you. Telling her that...that you're flattered, yes, but you're taken. You could see how she would have taken what you said earlier the wrong way, though, and you...you apologize for the confusion. You only wanted to know because you were buying the same outfit for your significant other, and you wanted to make sure everything was to spec. You had no desire to have sexual relations of any sort with her--

A look of utter despair and defeat replaces her sultry smile, and Amber hangs her head. "W-why...? I can't...am I going to be lonely the entire time here? I can't even score with someone from my own country...?" A low, mournful wail rises from her throat. "Is my tombstone going to read, 'Here lies Nakajima, She Never Scored'?"

...Well, now. That's a bit harsh! You're sure she'll find someone--

It's here that her shoulders start to shake, as if she'd started sobbing, and you couldn't help but feel sorry. Probably had really slim pickings among the Officio, with only Americans to choose from. Maybe you could--

"Ahahaha! Did...did you really fall for that?!" Gone is the tragic, mournful tone from Amber's voice in an instant as she looks up, all smiles and bright eyes. "Hahaha OH MY GOD YOU DID! OH WOW, the others won't believe me! Lemme just..."

[1/2]

>>26392266
So she's dancing in a chrous line, so she's guarding her while she's changing, so she's having a bath with her, so she's checking out the ball field. It doesn't mean Sayaka wants her dick, just being friendly.

Admit it, when you were in the showers in high school, you looked, you hang out with the guys, horseplayed with towels and shit. Same thing for girls, just cuter, and sexier.
>>
>>26392309

She pulls out her smartphone from somewhere behind her. "Right, just look here, Sayaka-chan! Hahaha...'Here lies Nakajima, She Never Scored', that's brilliant..."

...That wasn't very funny.

"Well, I thought it was! Uh...wait. You're too close. You're too close, Sayaka-chan! I can't take the picture--"

. . .

You're not going to recount what you did to Amber after that, because it doesn't need repeating, and frankly you're appalled at her. Resorting to that kind of humor...people who can trick other people, acting that way? That's the worst.

The Elevator Ride ends continues in silence, and ends in silence - with Amber clutching at her bottom while walking on ahead. You follow close behind, your cape trailing behind you.

"Did you have to hit me THAT hard, Sayaka-chan? And that many times...?" She murmurs to you, sounding quite petulant.

Just enough to teach her a lesson, you tell her quietly, keeping your eyes firmly set ahead.

Amber pouts at you, before turning away. "Hunh. I'd like to see you try looking so cool when I tell you that I actually got turned on by it."

...You've no reaction to that. Well, you do, but you have the sneaking suspicion that you'd personally lose if you dignify her statement with it.

Anyway. You're supposedly at the very basement of the building - fifty stories underground. Where the most powerful Silent Room of the Officio was placed, designed for high-profile, high-powered prisoners. Legend had it that the Warmaster before Mary - Dahlia Marigold - had wild, berserker rages that warranted her being locked in that particular Silent Room. To calm her down long enough for her Soul Gem to be cleaned. Every single time, a hundred Magical Girls died simply getting her into the room itself.

At the very end of the very long corridor you followed Amber in - you see Malal and Kirika, talking in hushed tones with Mary. The American Warmaster-in-training gesturing at what appears to be a pile of shoddy-looking metal by the massive iron doors leading to the Silent Room. Malal seems to notice you finally, and she nods at you and Amber. Kirika and Mary do the same, the former smiling while the other looks...well, quite sombre.

"I see Nakajima found you." Malal's vox-corrupted voice echoes in the sterile chamber. "Nakajima? How many bodies?"

"None whatsoever. No-kill run, although there was a nosebleed. Other than that..." Amber shakes her head, and somehow this warranted Kirika cursing rather audibly underneath her breath. Reaching into the pockets of her coat, she hands Malal a single hundred-dollar bill.

...Wait. Did they just bet on you...?

"No time for that," Malal cuts you off. "We need to do this as quickly as possible. This Silent Room's Anti-Magic Field is just about to be breached." She hands you what looks like...well, it looks like a heavy obsidian collar, solid black except for a single hinge, with a rubberized inner edge. There are faint lines of crimson light etching themselves on the black metal. "This is the main and most important component of the modified Culexus Suit. Lengthy explanations aside, this is what regulates a Culexus' abilities. It's modified to match hers exactly, but it won't turn on unless it's properly calibrated."

Okay. So why isn't it being calibrated now?

"Because it needs to be worn by the user to calibrate it." Kirika cuts in, a sadistic smile curling her lips and baring her teeth. "This is where you come in, Sayaka-chan. You'll be going in there and putting the collar on Sabrina-chan."

I'm inclined to disagree.

Wait a fucking minute. This Sabrina person just melts people's faces off, doesn't she? If you go in there, you've got no Magic! And thus, no regeneration!

"That's why we're going to turn it off." Malal replies patiently. "She's...well, I won't sugarcoat things, but she's been in there for a year. She's probably gone crazy, maybe even feral. We can fix that easily, but we need to get this first around her neck." She holds up the collar, again. "Open it like this, then fasten it like so. Simple, right?

Yeah. Simple enough. But wait, why couldn't Malal just go with you, then?

Malal is about to reply, before Kirika cuts in again. "Isn't it obvious, Miki? The Equerry's too valuable to risk being killed here. Without her, the entire Ninth would go ass-upwards--"

"--I was about to reply that I'll be guarding the entrance if she tries to escape." Malal finishes sourly. "There's a possibility she'll fight too much and we can't get the collar on her. If she gets out of here, well...it'd be like bringing in an infection vector of flesh-eating bacteria into a playpen full of babies. The rest of the world'll be slime in their empty shoes if she gets out. I'll take her out before she can even cross the treshold." It's here that you could somehow feel Malal smiling at you. "I'd like for us not to et to that stage, though - so try your best, Sayaka."

Right. See, that right there? No pressure at all.

"Oh, don't be such a baby, Miki. You're the strongest regenerator we got. You probably won't even break a sweat." Kirika grins as she leans back on the corridor's walls, frilly-sleeved arms folded underneath her chest. "This'll be child's play for you."

Well, it's just that you've never encountered something like this before. Burns, sure. Dismemberment, sure. But this kind of thing? Never.

"It's almost like burning in a way, I guess," Amber murmurs. "Just not without the fire and the happy, warm feelings. Everything just starts to melt or fizzle out into a soft, smelly heap of mush."

Wonderful. ...So do you have any equipment to help you at least?

"Oh, yeah, of course!" Mary nods, before pointing to the loose pile of metal earlier. "We were gonna give you bomb squad armor, but the last one disintegrated after the last time we tried. That's all we got left. Should help in getting closer to her at least!"

What? All they had left is some misshappen sheets of iron--

...Wait. No. They're not just loose metal - they're actually a serviceable suit of armor. The greaves, the gauntlets are sort of workable, and the chestplate would fit you, you think. The only thing you're not sure about is the helmet - it looks like someone was trying to install too many circular eye holes and didn't stop at 'two'. The visor eyeholes, molded to look like gaping pits or something, seem to take up nearly eighty percent of the actual helmet, bringing to mind a looming monstrous creature from the deep. The grinning mouth grill, now trapped in an eternal grimace, doesn't help things much.

"Like it?" Mary grins, completely misreading your reaction. Or disappointment. "It's not typical metal, so it should take a few minutes or so for Sab to eat through it. ...Well, dependin' on her state of mind, anyway."

It's here that Amber looks down at the disassembled knight armor instead. "...Hey! Wait a minute, you stole that from my lab!"

"Yeah, I...did?" Mary blinks slowly at Amber, before turning back to you. "Anyway, Mickey, just put 'em on. Malal and I'll help you get some of the trickier bits."

"But that's from my lab!" Amber protests. "That's a collector's item, you know! I stole that off someone rich!"

"Well, whatever it was, it's gonna help us get Sabrina back," Mary says, seemingly determined for some reason. "I promised her. The Officio promised her. And I'm not about to start my fuckin' carreer breakin' promises." She looks at you. "Mickey, uh...I'll just go right out and say it. This'll really hurt. Sabrina ain't here in Sub Zero just because she gets cranky. I'm askin' you to step into a world of pain, here." She takes a deep breath. "If...if you don't want to..."

Both Malal, Kirika and Amber are surprisingly silent as Mary waits for your answer. You glance at the Silent Room doors, before shaking your head and picking up the helmet from the disassembled pile of plate armor.

You'll do it, of course. You can't say no, not now, and less so when she told you about the promise. You're not about to break someone else's promise, too, even if you were to carry it out for them.

That's not the kind of person you wished to be, after all.

"...What did you wish to be, Mickey?" Mary asks, then, as you take the armor and start putting it on yourself. You've never seen this kind of armor before, but...somehow, you know how to wear it. What piece goes where. How to cinch the fiddly leather straps that secure everything in place.

With the helmet in place - the visor up to let you see more, before entering the Silent Room - and the Culexus hardsuit collar gripped tightly in one hand, you chuckle a reply.

You wished to be a hero.

Isn't that what Magical Girls are supposed to be?

What if this is actually a timeline post Ruri and post another reset? One were Faust got upset things didn't turn out the way she wanted or expected, so she reset it and tried to set things according to her canon, namely Sayaka being Oktavia, Mami deceased (we haven't seen a single mention of Mami in this flashback(?)) now that I think of it?
