You are Christopher Phillips, previously just another teenage nerd living in a small English town, and a lot of things have changed in your life since you died.

Not that all that many people know about the ‘dying’ part. You’ve been trying to keep your post-mortem status under wraps. It’s very disconcerting, therefore, that one of the girls sitting in front of you has just discerned it with a single glance.

You’ve come to meet up with a small group of vigilantes and monster-hunters at your school, apparently led by Ajani, a tall, athletic, dark-skinned guy who’s the one who originally invited you to meet with them after you tracked him down on one of his late-night patrols. He’s standing to one side of the long wooden table in the library at which the rest of the group sits, now frowning at you and at the girl in question.

At Ajani’s right hand sits James, your minion (sort of) and the person who originally got you involved in this mess. He asked you to set him up with Ajani, a task which may end up being a lot more complicated than you first anticipated.

You don’t know the names of the others at this table, but there are two girls and one guy. The girl who just pronounced you a ‘husk’ has long, pale blonde hair and a generally fragile appearance, with skin as pale as porcelain, but her tone of voice is imperious and brusque.
>>
>>26411405
The boy sitting next to her seems more frail and nervous in behaviour, sinking down into his seat a little as she glares at you. His hair is ginger and a little mussed, and his skin is pale and lightly freckled. He looks up at you for a second, and his eyes are soft, and slightly afraid. He doesn’t speak, though. The second girl just looks at you curiously, with deep, dark eyes. Her hair is black and arranged in rows of dreadlocks, and her skin is an even darker brown than Ajani’s.

After a pause, the second girl speaks up. “Are you sure about that, Gloria? Ajani invited him to meet with us. I think we ought to evaluate him further before we start casting insults around.”

The first girl visibly bristles. “Insults? It’s not like we’re talking about a person. Just let me deal with this, Esther. I know what I’m doing.”

“So does Ajani,” James interrupts. “There must be a point to this meeting, right, Ajani?”

Ajani looks troubled. “I... just thought we could use some more hands to help out with the research, spread the burden a little. A... husk? Are you sure? He seems fine...” He’s turned away from you a little, looking at James and Gloria.

The conversation falters for a moment. This is your chance to seize control of the argument. What do you want to say?

>“Insults? It’s not like we’re talking about a person. Just let me deal with this, Esther. I know what I’m doing.”
Check your fucking privilege, holy shit...

Say "I seem fine to me too, now could be pretend to be polite huma- PEOPLE here?".
Then rant about alliances being forged from mutual respect and whatnot.
>>
>>26411411
to girl "you seem to have some ideas about who and what i am. for someone who partially recognized me at first sight, wgich means you are not so 'normal', you are too prejudiced."

>>26411591
We should start a Facebook page.
>>
>>26411411
((Okay, writing now.))
>>
"That's not very polite, insulting someone like that."
>>
So yeah, at least one of these probably has a family of Hunters.
Our family is going to get targeted for purging at this rate.
And that's just the start. Our Darkest Self is an idiot if he thinks that he can survive moving so blatantly when there's a fucking Hunter group not just in town, but with their kids also going to the school.

We'll be lucky if our sister doesn't get accosted/kidnapped/slashed on the way home, or either of our parents never coming home.
>>
>>26411705
You step forward and clear your throat, watching everyone turn to you. "I seem fine to me, too. Now, could we at least pretend to be polite to one another?" You look straight at the blonde girl, Gloria. "You seem to have some ideas about who and what I am, which means you're not all that normal yourself. If we're going to work together, don't we need to have some sort of respect for each other?"

Gloria curls her lip. "Respect? Are you seriously comparing yourself to *me*? You're a walking corpse, a puppet, and *I* am one of the..." The quiet boy puts a hand on her arm, and she looks at him and takes a breath. "I am... a part of this group. And yes, not 'normal' as you put it, but don't flatter yourself to think that makes us equals. We don't need help such as yours."

Ajani frowns at her. "Actually, Gloria, we really need all the help we can get. Chris doesn't seem like a soulless husk to me. He's talking to us, for one. I think you're wrong here."

"Wrong? Me? Look, you insolent..."

"That's *enough*, Gloria." Ajani is staring her down, and after a tense pause, she folds. "Very well. But don't come crying to me when he stabs us in the back."

"That's not going to happen, Gloria." Ajani turns to you. "All right, Chris, meet the team. James, Gloria, Louie and Esther. Mostly they help me with research, although Gloria comes out on patrol with me now and then. Hopefully with more eyes on the books we'll spot more intel. Any questions, or shall I get to the briefing?"
>>
>>26411879
"Let's get to the briefing first. I'll save my questions till the end."
>>
>>26411879

"I'd like to ask questions later, at a better time, if you don't mind."
>>
>>26411879
Shrug and give Gloria a dismissive "I think you got issues Freud would have written volumes about" shrug + look kind of combo before tuning her out.
>>
>>26411879
"go on, please. i suspect this briefing will answer some of my questions."

Because our comfort zone and pride just got violated?
>>
>>26412129
A lot more than just our comfort zone and pride stand to get violated. Such as our continued existence.

We don't yet know if they have any magic or magic weapons on their side; since they've been chasing down the supernatural, I suspect they have some abilities to make us permanently dead.
>>
>>26412077
"I'll save my questions until after the briefing. Maybe it'll answer some of my questions anyway."

Ajani nods. "Okay. So here's the situation..."

He reaches into a backpack that was lying on the floor by the table, pulls out a map of the town and unfolds it, laying it out across the table. There are a number of red marks dotted across it, and Ajani marks off three more. "These are the latest batch of husks I've dealt with. They're starting to cluster up more. I think we might be pushing them into more of a defensive mode, which hopefully means their source is somewhere around here." He draws a rough circle around the general mass of red marks, covering most of the south and east side of town. "Do we have anything more on that missing girl?"

Esther frowns. "Got into the morgue computers. Pictures fairly low resolution. Big claws, definitely. I'd need to look at the body itself, really. It's probably gone to a funeral home, though."

"Okay. Louie, anything in the books?"

Louie speaks up for the first time - he's got a bit of a stutter, but it might just be nerves. "We, uh, checked for animal demons. Most of them would have eaten more of the corpse. It might still be a werewolf - the attack was pretty close to the full moon. Or someone with control over animals."

James leans in. "Like a mage or something? Or a witch?"

"Y-yeah, or a druid maybe. If those exist, I don't know."

Ajani smiles. "Pretty much everything seems to exist. Thank you, Louie."

((Cont.))
>>
>>26412364
“Okay, so we’ve got the animal attacks under investigation. Isabella’s still a source of concern, but James is keeping an eye on that, aren’t you?”

“Of course, Ajani. Anything you need.” James is putting on his best innocent smile.

Gloria leans over the map, examining it. “If we’re getting closer to the source of this plague, shouldn’t we step up patrols? Why don’t we bring some of the bookworms out with us? They can hold a sword as well as anyone else can. Not as well as us, I mean, but enough to do some damage. What do you think, Chris? You think you can keep up with us?” There’s a dangerous look in her eye, like she’s testing you.
>>
>>26412370
"Fighting's honestly not my strong suit, and my marks in PE aren't that great, either.
"Though, about that animal attack.
"My little sister's was attacked by a huge dog, or maybe a wolf. I was able to drive it off with a kitchen knife I nicked from my mum's good silver when I heard about Sally Chambers going missing. Sounded like burning when I hit beast with it. That's all I've got right now."
>>
>>26412370
"i prefer more...delicate solutions, but i can keep up to most anyone. dont expect me to jump on the rooftops though" smile to ajani. work our charms."I think bookworms should keep to the books though. I wouldnt want them risking their lives against claws and such outside of their comfort zone. They would be more help that way anyways."
>>
>>26412491
dont tell anything about sister yet.
>>
"Don't worry, I'm gonna throw Morale Balls at you to help you fight better."

...we need Louie. We really need him. In a maid dress.
>>
>>26412364
>These are the latest batch of husks I've dealt with
Well. Good to know that these people have already killed. Killing us won't be a difficult thing for them to do, then.
>>
>>26412536
i doubt the husks they killed are much similar to chris.
>>
>>26412525
>dont tell anything about sister yet.
The attack on our sister's friend is already kind of public knowledge, you know.
And also that we have a sister.
All information that they can easily get as soon as they dig into our background.
Besides, we already told Ajani about the attack on our sister last night.
>>
>>26412567
>i doubt the husks they killed are much similar to chris.
Yea, but they might be able to convince themselves otherwise.

>>26412518
Sounds good enough.
>>
>>26412370
((Okay, writing now))
>>
>>26412631
"Fighting's not exactly my speciality, but I can keep up with pretty much anyone. Just don't expect me to jump across rooftops." You smile at Louie, who's looking nervous. "Maybe some of our bookworms should keep to the books, though. We don't want them risking their lives when they'd be more help here." Gloria waves dismissively, and Louie relaxes.

"We'll see about extra swords," Ajani interrupts. "I don't think we have enough to give one to everyone. Gloria has her own, of course, and I might be able to lend Chris one. Esther, do you think you could lend a hand?"

Esther looks doubtful. "If you think that's what we need, Ajani. I'm much better with the books, though."

Gloria runs her hands over the map, tracing Ajani's circle with her index finger. "I shouldn't think we'll need more than three people to cover this area cleanly. If Chris is willing to come along with us, that should do nicely." She's got a distinctly smug smile on her face.

"Okay, so, patrol tomorrow night, me, Gloria and Chris. I'll see if I can rustle up a weapon for you, Chris. If not, just hang back and watch our backs. Husks are only really dangerous when they catch you by surprise. Gloria, can I have a word in private?" Ajani nods his head towards the stacks, and the two of them go off together, Gloria glaring at you behind his back.

James gets up and claps you on the shoulder, smiling cheerfully. "That went well, I think. Welcome to the gang, Chris. Anything else you need to know?"
>>
>>26412910
Nothing pressing, but could you tell me a bit about who those people... /are/?
Especially that Gloria girl. I don't like those looks of hers.
>>
"Is Louie into guys?"
>>
>>26412910
((Okay, writing now...))
>>
>>26413238
"Well, mostly I just... don't know who any of these people actually *are*. Especially Gloria. I got a weird vibe off of her."

James sighs. "Yeah, Gloria. She thinks she's God's gift to, well, everyone. Arrogant as hell, totally self-centred. Good fighter, though. Louie here, he's our little lost lamb, aren't you Louie?" James pats Louie on the shoulder, and he flinches. Esther pipes up, "Dammit, James, you can be such an ass. Leave Louie alone for once." She sighs, and turns to you. "I'm Esther. Hi, Chris. I'm sorry about Gloria." She gives you a slightly awkward smile. "She's just a bit prickly about new people. From what Ajani's said, husks don't talk, or go to school, or do much but shamble around." She nudges Louie with her elbow. "H-hi. I'm Louie. Uh. It's nice to meet you."

Esther sighs again. "Right, I guess we've got more books to look at." She turns to the shelves.

"Huh. Uh, James, is... Louie into guys?"

James gives you a positively wicked grin. "Oh, I don't know. Hey, Louie." He walks forward and puts his hands on Louie's shoulders, leaning in so their faces are close together. "How do you feel about guys? Does Ajani... excite you? How about Chris?"

Louie stammers a bit. He's clearly blushing. It makes his freckles stand right out on his cheeks. "Uh... maybe? I... thought you said that Ajani..."

"Shush. That's all the answer I needed." James grins, and lets go. Esther sighs. "You are such an arsehole sometimes, James."

What do you want to do now?
>>
>>26413540
go hang out with Jill and Avril
>>
>>26413540
Talk to James about Isabella. We don't want these guys getting caught completely unaware of her new Corruptor friend.
>>
>>26413540
We need to go back to lunch, find Jill, Masami, and Avril.
And warn them that there definitely is a Hunter group in the school, and we need to be careful.
>>
>>26413779
We'll have to be careful how we give that information to them, though.
Ajani and his group have already hunted undead like us before, and depending on what we see tomorrow night, letting them know about our condition could mean a quick trip to a wood chipper.

As for Zack, seems like everyone prefers to purge first, ask questions never about werewolves like him. We need to start being more careful. Our Darkest Self is an arrogant ass that's going to get us permanently killed, our family purged, or both, with his overconfidence in his powers.
>>
>>26413840
Yeah, we need to be careful about it, mention that we used to be friends with Jason a long time ago and that we have major suspicions about what he's gotten into, and that he's siding with Isabella now. If we can't hide what we are, then we need to go borderline full disclosure and let the group know that we're being targeted by a demon thing that really wants our blood, and we definitely still have a soul.
>>
((Writing now.))
>>
dont give them jack shit till we get some information from them. firstly go ask ajani and gloria what these husks are about? who are they? where do the come from and how? who is controlling them? could just tell them to be careful about isabella and her friends.
>>
>>26413918
"Okay, thanks, James. This has certainly been... informative."

James gives you a distinctly sultry smile and licks his lips. "Oh, any time. Me and Louie will be waiting, won't we Louie?" He jabs Louie with his elbow. "Won't we, Louie?"

"Uh... y-yeah. We'd love to have some more help with the research and the monsters and stuff."

You find Jill and Avril outside, sitting at your usual table. Masami is sitting on one side of Jill, Avril on the other. They look to be talking fairly peacefully, though. As you get closer you catch snatches of conversation.

"... still a totally awesome film," Jill is saying.

"Seriously?" Avril replies. "It was a cheesy cross between 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' and 'Night of the Living Dead'. There was a reason we were the only ones in that theatre." Jill turns to Masami as you walk up. "What do you think, Masami? Was it a good film?"

"Uh... it was very funny sometimes? I liked that vampire man, Bela Lugosi? I'm not sure about the film as a whole, though..."

Avril sighs. "Oh, hey Chris! How'd your meeting go? And more importantly, that 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' thing we watched on Monday, was it horribly cheesy, or good?"
>>
>>26414283

"Well, I enjoyed my time."
>>
>>26414283
"We saw a movie? I was sure we were doing something else."
>>
>>26414283
"Good because it was horribly cheesy, but I would've enjoyed my time either way. The meeting could've gone better, but we can talk about that later. Apparently they've had trouble with guys vaguely like me in the past."
>>
>>26414283
(Awesome, I'm finally around for MHQ.)

The meeting went well, it looks like at least some of them aren't extremists. Um, one problem. They have somebody who seems to know what people are on sight and she didn't take kindly to me. We might have to deal with her at some point.
>>
>>26414283
((Okay, writing))
>>
>>26414616
"It was good because it was horribly cheesy. But I'm pretty sure I would've enjoyed my time whatever we were watching. Didn't you?" You grin at Avril, and she smiles back at you. You can see Masami blushing out of the corner of your eye.

"Anyway, my meeting went okay. It could've gone better, I guess - they have someone who knew what I was on sight, and didn't take kindly to me. Apparently they've had trouble with guys vaguely like me in the past. We might have to deal with her at some point."

Avril nods. "I'll see what I can do about supplies, preparation, that sort of thing. If you do have to deal with her, try and get her into the woods, we'll both be stronger there. Does this girl have a name?"

"Gloria. Blonde hair, very pale skin. Enormous ego, apparently reckons she's God's gift to the world. I don't have any classes with her, but we're going out patrolling tomorrow night."

"Okay, I'll ask around, quietly. If she can identify you she might be able to identify me too, so I'll have to be careful. And don't forget about us with all your new friends." Avril grins and gives you a deep kiss. There's a beat, and then Jill gets up, walks over with a determined look on her face, and also gives Avril a nice, long kiss. Avril chuckles, and kisses her back. "Mm. We should do that more often."

Masami clears her throat. "Um, so, are we going to watch more films? Or do... other group stuff?"

Avril turns to you. "You're the one with all the plans, Chris. Any thoughts?"
>>
>>26414961

"Well, I have some plans to do. I still need to go out with Jill alone, for example. Maybe you too, Masami."

"Well, I do enjoy spending time with you all, and I did have some plans. I've got a date with Avril tonight, and I still want to go out alone with Jill sometime. And maybe you too, Masami."

Jill blinks at you, and then murmurs "Um... that might be nice. Some time." Masami just blushes and looks down at her hands. Avril smiles and kisses you again.

"I won't have much free time in the next few days, but I can try to make some time for Sunday. And maybe we could all go to the park tonight, before I go off for my date with Avril. Oh, and Jill, did you talk to Avril about your aunt? Maybe we could go talk to her at lunch time tomorrow?"

Jill looks nervous, but she nods. "Okay, Chris. Tomorrow." Avril hugs her, then turns to you. "Yeah, we talked a bit about it. Jill's mother just makes me more and more angry every time I hear about her." She gives Jill another hug. "Don't worry. We're here for you."

You sit and chat a bit more about films for the rest of lunch. Masami has a long list of various Japanese films and anime that she recommends. You've never been much into anime, although Jill apparently knows a few of them and Avril has some recommendations of her own.

You're getting your stuff together after school when you see Miss White pop her head into your classroom. "Ah, Chris. Do you have a moment?"

((Cont.))
>>
>>26415754
She walks over without waiting for an answer. "Mr Miller's notes are all disorganised and I've got a lot of work to do. I noticed you consistently get very high marks in History. I'd like you to help me out with various things. Marking homework, distributing worksheets...”

Miss White hops up onto the desk, next to your bag. She’s very close to you now. She must be a fairly new teacher – at this distance you can tell she can’t be a day over 25, at the most, and she’s very good looking. She smiles sweetly at you. “I could do with help with all sorts of things. And of course I’d be very grateful to you for helping me out. What do you say?” She holds out her hand.

>>26415770
"Miss White, are you trying to seduce me - I mean, scout me?"

Miss White chuckles. "Ah, teenage boys. One track minds. I need a teaching assistant, Chris. Someone to give me a hand with homework and lesson plans. Besides, if I were caught doing anything like that with one of my students I'd be struck off. I'd never work as a teacher again. So how about you start thinking with your upper brain, okay? Can you help me out?" She's still holding out her hand for you to shake.
>>
>>26416191
Not sure about the whole counter seduction bit but other than that I'll toss my lot in for this.

I'm a bit leery with shaking her hand since that's basically sealing a deal and we don't know if she's normal or a supernatural being.

"It's just homework, worksheets and lesson planning that you need? Okay, I'll do what I can to help with that, within reason." You shake Miss White's hand. She chuckles slowly, holding on to your hand and stroking her thumb across your green fingernails. "Splendid. Absolutely splendid." She hands you a small piece of paper. "Come by my house some time Saturday or Sunday and we'll go over things for Tuesday, all right?"

Miss White gets up and leaves. When you open the folded paper, there's a house address, and also a mobile phone number, with the note "Call me if you need anything".

You head to the park. Jill, Masami and Avril are all waiting.

"Hey, Chris. What's up?"

"I just had a kind of weird interaction with your aunt, that's all. She wanted me to help her out with History."

"So you'll be a sort of teaching assistant? That's really cool. My aunt sounds like a nice lady."

Avril laughs, and leans over to give Jill a peck on the cheek. "Only you would think that was cool, darling."

"I don't know, there was kind of a weird vibe to the whole thing. We'll see, anyway. So, what do we do now?"

Jill smiles. "Actually, me and Masami had a few ideas... but not right now. You two go enjoy your date first, okay?" She's grinning now, and so is Masami.

What do you want to do with Avril?

[]Take her to the cinema again. It's worked well enough so far.

Let's go for at least a little peaceful romance

Roamance!

[]Walk through the park with her. Enjoy the flowers and trees.

Well, that wasn't ominous at all
>>

Yay. Quest time.

>Walk through the park.

on another note, Gloria seems like a total gem huh? All the blondes in this school are total tsundere for Chris.
>>

>[]Walk through the park with her. Enjoy the flowers and trees.
As much fun as it is banging Avril basically everywhere can we atleast try to make this a normal date? Or as close to normal as we can possibly get.
>>
>>26417512
She totally wants to skewer us with her sword....if you know what I mean.
>>
>>26417533
we can "try"... But its not like Avril isnt a fey. Notorious for being loose and spontaneous with thier sex drives.

I assume she is desperate for some Dead chris body.... If you're smellin' what i'm stepping in.

>[x]Walk through the park with her. Enjoy the flowers and trees.
we'll and up eating on her favorite bench.
>>
>>26417755
You take Avril's hand and lead her gently along the park's pathways, stopping occasionally to look at the flowers or to dance on the grass for a little while. Avril shows you how to hold your hands so that the sunlight best catches your fingernails. You can't really feel anything, but she assures you it's good for them. Once, she slips off her shoes and dares you to catch her as she darts away across the grass, finally ending when you pounce upon her and the two of you tumble to the ground, exhausted and laughing.

It's starting to get darker when you finally make your way back to the bench where you started, arm in arm with Avril. It seems Jill and Masami have been sitting here talking for the last hour or so, although when you ask them what the "ideas" they mentioned before were, they smile coyly and refuse to say anything. Jill insists that you'll find out "soon enough".

You're still trying (and failing) to press them for details when a small bird flies up to Avril, sits on her shoulder and chirps excitedly. She steps away from the group for a moment, then comes back, smiling. "Chris, Jill. How would the two of you like to come to dinner on Sunday with my parents? There'll be venison and a nice feast, not just salads, don't worry. I'm not going to insist that you come, but I'd like you both there."

Jill smiles. "I'd be honoured, darling. And what about you, Chris? You're coming too, right?"
>>
>>26417210
>"Come by my house some time Saturday or Sunday and we'll go over things for Tuesday, all right?"
>Miss White gets up and leaves.

friday night we should call her and tell her she never really waited to hear our answer about coming over this weekend. we are too busy this week to spare any time (which is not a lie, with all this hunting and wolves and dates and such). we could start working on it next week.
>>

Of course. Wouldn't miss it for the world

"Oh, am I going to meet your parents and be introduced as your boyfriend this time? Should I panic?"
>>
>>26418854
we are way past there. remember giving some of our soul to her father? after we raped her... we were kinda already her boyfriend then.
>>
>>26418854
We are calm and collected. Not one to panic over something like this.
>>
>>26418832
"Of course, I'd love to come. Hopefully this meeting won't be quite as heavy as the last time I met your dad."

Avril smiles. "Hopefully. I mean, it *will* be a formal dinner, but it shouldn't be too much pressure."

"Oh, uh, speaking of formal, should I pick up some wine or something? What's an appropriate dinner gift for a King of the Fae?"

Avril looks confused for a moment. "Uh... wine? No, no, he's the one giving you a gift. That's the whole point, he's powerful and bountiful enough to be able to give away something, specifically food and drink, without expecting anything in return. That's why you don't normally eat or drink anything in a Fae hall, because you have to give something in return."

"So this dinner is kind of a political thing?"

"Not exactly. I mean, sort of, but only in the technical sense - he's the king, his dinners are expected to be gifts rather than bargains. Giving him something in return would probably be a bad idea. Or at least it would all be really complicated and political. Just come as you are. Or..." Avril looks you over and frowns. "Okay, maybe come a little bit fancier than that. It is a royal feast, after all."

"Okay, okay. Fancy clothes, got it. Anything else you can tell me?"

Avril shrugs. "Nothing that immediately springs to mind. Oh, actually, try and wear a red shirt or something, not a white one. I know most of your good shirts are going to be school uniform ones."

Is there anything else you want to do before tomorrow?
>>
>>26419302

tomorrow evening go to town for shopping. we cant live on with just the nerd wardrobe anyways. this dinner is as good an excuse as any to get some classy clothing.

>>
>>26419765
refuse to see ms white on the weekend because we are busy. gotta show her the cold side and gain some control over her. besides, we really have better things to do. like shopping and befriending a werewolf.
>>
>>26419865
suppose Miss White is a succubus?
>>
>>26419900
we dont have enough information on her, so thats as good a guess as any looking at what we know of her.
>>
>>26419765
You smile at Avril, and give her a wink. "Let's leave Jill and Masami to their devious plans, and have a little fun ourselves, shall we?"

Avril smiles back at you, and leans over to give Jill a quick kiss. "Why don't you and Masami go and discuss your ideas around the corner, darling? Chris and I are going to be busy finishing our date."

Avril straddles your lap as the other girls retreat, leaving the two of you alone. You partially unbutton her shirt and then lift it up over her head, pinning her arms inside it. Avril grins at you and leans forward, kissing you deeply as you lift up her skirt...

***

It's Friday afternoon now, during your free period. You've located Jill, and the two of you are planning to drop by Miss White's office and talk with her. Is there anything you want to discuss with Jill beforehand? And what's your plan once the conversation begins?
>>
>>26420336
tell jill "i am not sure how this conversation will go. i hope it goes all good but if not, be sure of yourself and stay strong. i am gonna be staying strong near you so feel free to lean on me if you feel yourself slipping."
we dont want to talk much to start with. let white tell what she will. tel jill to ask "my mother was quite vague about your past with the family, i want to know what happened from you" to start the conversation. we can go on from there.
>>
>>26420336
"Just talk to her and find out the truth. If you get uncomfortable, give me a sign and i'll step in to distract her while you head out."
>>
>>26420429
and if she gets seductive, be the usual cold chris.

>>26420448
that bad. you are telling her to run. and alone. if things get so bad we can just take her out of there ourselves.
>>
>>26420467
.... this is a conversation, about family matters.

not an interrogation behind enemy lines.

Jill's a big girl. She can handle walking through a school alone.
>>
>>26420429
second
>>
>>26420548
>She can handle walking through a school alone.
After we got outed as a potential undead to the Hunter team, and definitely to the Angel, you don't think we're under watch and our acquaintances scrutinized?
>>
>>26420548
wut? i didnt in any way indicated that she cant take a walk around the school alone. the problem was about running away part. and it still is. as a big girl she should be able stand through this conversation. if she can not, then instead of making her run away while we 'distract the enemy' we could just take her outside since this is not 'behind enemy lines'.
>>
>>26420597
They're a bunch of dysfunctional teenagers, not MI6. It's not like they can inconspicuously tail us, we know what they look like.
>>
>>26420597
sure, but murder or attack in broad daylight in the middle of a school, towards some random girl who happens to be our friend, is not something likely to happen.

We can afford to lighten up in this situation

As for the hunters specifically, they have offered us the benefit of the doubt for now.
>>
>>26420597
actually, isabella's gang and team tentacle monster are a much bigger threat to jill.
>>
>>26420336
((Okay, writing now. It's now gone 5am, so we may have to end on a not-so-dramatic cliffhanger point. Sorry, I did *have* a dramatic cliffhanger planned, but I think this conversation is going to take long enough that we might not reach it.))
>>
>>26420627
lol its just a conversation. If she feels uncomfortable talking to her aunt, she can leave. we step in and make an excuse for her.

What i suggested was exactly what you wanted, I just typed it different
>>
>>26420742
no, its not what i wanted. i can see clear difference between these.
>>26420429
>>26420448
anyways, it was just two different suggestions. no need to discuss too much on it.
>>
>>26420735
we gunna get fukt on this hunt arent we? thats the planned cliffhanger. whatever it is, we shall prevail.
>>
>>26420735
"Okay. Come on, Jill. Just... talk to her. Find out the truth. Feel free to lean on me if you need it, but this is your conversation to have, really. She's your aunt, after all."

Jill looks a little nervous, and clutches your hand, but steps forward and knocks on Miss White's office door. It swings open after the third knock.

"Oh, hello again Chris, and... my goodness, you're Margaret's daughter, aren't you?" She crouches down a little, bringing herself level with Jill. "Hello, Jill. My name is Miranda. Do you remember me?"

"Um... yeah. I do. Can we talk inside?"

"Of course, dear. Come in, both of you."

Miss White sits down at her desk, gesturing to the two of you to take the spare chairs next to it. Jill gratefully sits down, still holding your hand and almost dragging you off your feet.

"My mother never really told me much about what happened, why we suddenly couldn't see you any more. She just went on about how evil you were. I want to know what happened, your side of the story."

Miss White - Miranda, apparently - leans back in her chair, pursing her lips. "That's a very long story, Jill, and I'm not really at liberty to share all of it. Some of it isn't my story to tell. The short version is that a lot of lies were told to me, and then I found out a lot of truths. Some of them weren't truths your mother was prepared to hear. So she decided it was better to cut contact with me than to keep hearing my 'heathen lies'."

((Cont.))
>>
>>26421168
“Okay. Um... what sort of lies? What sort of truths? Can you tell me that, at least?”

“I think you already know a lot of the lies, Jill. Your mother has been telling them to you for most of your life. As for the truths... those are really the sort of thing you have to find out on your own.” Miss White glances down at Jill’s hand, the one that’s clutching yours, and smiles. “But I think you’re getting there. Now, if there’s nothing else, I still have quite a lot of work to do. Will I be seeing you this weekend, Chris?”
>>
>>26421185
"sometime Saturday."
>>
>>26421185
"we would still like hear the story that is yours to tell. it would be helpful jill."

"i dont have any spare time this weekend. i can spare time for monday earliest."

>>
>>26421372

>>
>>26421372
"I might have some time Saturday, but I'm not certain yet. I might have to see you on Monday instead. And we would still like to hear that full story of yours."

Miss White smiles. "Of course, but another time. I don't have enough time right now to do it justice, even if we talked into lunchtime. And like I said, large parts of it simply aren't mine to tell."

She waves you both goodbye as you head out of the office. Jill is still holding your hand, but seems a lot less nervous. She's also smiling a little bit. "That was... actually pretty okay. I think I'd like to talk to her again. Hear more of that story."

"Yeah, me too. Let's go find Avril and Masami. And you never did tell me what those 'ideas' of yours were..."

Jill laughs. "Can't a girl have some secrets? I told you you'll find out soon enough."

You've wrapped up a little warmer this time. But going out on patrol with Gloria and Ajani is still pretty chilly, not to mention tiring. Gloria hasn't looked back once after her initial, brusque "Keep up". Ajani has dropped back to give you a hand now and then, but even he's mostly concentrating on scanning the terrain. Suddenly, the two of them come to an abrupt halt. Ajani points ahead, where a group of shadowy figures are slowly walking through the darkness. "Husks, there. Look at the way they move." Gloria nods. "Weapons?"

((Cont.))
>>
>>26421771
Ajani slides the bag off his back and pulls out a long, straight sword with a broad blade, a wide, blunt tip and a spiked pommel. He hands you a smaller weapon, a large dagger with an H-shaped pommel that puts the blade in line with your knuckles. Gloria doesn’t appear to be armed, but she’s wearing an ankle-length white leather trench coat, so she could be hiding all sorts of things under there. She sticks out like a sore thumb against the darkness, but doesn’t seem to care much.

Ajani grabs the edge of a low wall nearby and he and Gloria haul themselves up, carefully balancing their way towards the shambling figures. You make your way carefully along the side of the wall behind them, keeping a close eye on the enemy.

Once they’re close enough, Ajani hops down, bares his sword and starts hacking away. Gloria makes a dramatic leap off the wall, her white trench coat billowing out behind her like a pair of wings, and rams a shining longsword through the head of one of the figures. You never saw her draw the blade, and you’re not sure where she was hiding a three foot long sword, but she moves like the white-handled sword is almost an extension of her arm.

You start to edge closer, trying to get a better look at the things they’re fighting. Suddenly, you feel an icy cold hand grip your arm with tremendous force. You cry out, and Ajani turns to you. There’s a look of shock and fear on his face as he sees whatever it is that has you in its grasp.
