Your name is Hairy McTerrorcastle. At the age of five, you were identified as magically apt. Taken at age ten to the Fifth Circle Academy, you began a life of study, hoping to master the Magic within you. At fifteen, you and about a hundred other students were presented with the choice of specialisation.

Seeking the knowledge of Summoning and Binding, you ventured further into your education, successfully completing your first class with the somewhat hyper Magister Pythianne.

Having previously studied and grasped the spell they were covering in today’s lesson, you successfully completed it - bringing forth into the material plane, an imp named Bowie.

You have met several other students, and attempted to befriend them.

Class is over for today, and you have nothing else on your schedule. It is currently midday. You planned on asking Bowie for information about Summoning Magic.

I think he's giving us some HIDDEN POWAH.

Yes definitely. "So, how can I be sure to summon you and..." glance at other imps "not a lesser imp."
>>
>>26458155
You ask Bowie for information on Summoning. He's an Imp, and he said he knows a thing or two about Magic - maybe he's got a few things he can teach you?

The red-skinned humanoid only clicks his teeth at you. "Krrr-rk. We are not. Binder, like you, Krrr-ka. We are..." It pauses, flexing it's wings idly. "Tricker. Liar. Deceiver." It nods at this, seemingly satisfied before flicking it's tail.

"Can't teach you. Fleshling different." It wrinkles it's scaled nose as it looks at you with squinted eyes. "But... will help you. Knowledge good. Seeking of knowledge better."
>>
>>26458312
Dont have to be binding, I'll take anything, evocation, summoning, random spells, perhaps youve even got a few friends that want the next big thing in town?

Can we sub "Bowie" in instead of that screech, or is there a spell we can use to play back sounds.
Also, what do you gain out of this? What kind of imp just gives themself away,
>>
>>26458493
He said it himself, they're liars and cheats. He probably just made a bunch of gibberish sounds and expects us to fail. He's obviiously humoring us...

But it's going to be fun figuring things out later.
>>
>>26458424
Ask our teacher, we are still in class.
Apologise to Bowie, we're new to this.
Although, if they're all liars and tricksters, why should we trust him?
>>
>>26458572
Who said anything about trust.
Asking the teach would be good though... >_>
>>

I meant about his name, for all we know he could have given us the name of some super tentacle beast that'll rape us if we can't bind it
>>

Because we bound him? I'd think that would require tem to tell the 'truth', eveen if they can still omit things or misrepresent the truth if they really want to.

"Do you know Imperial?" It gives you a blank look. "No. Telepathic." It snaps at you, with a flick of it's tail. It has no concept of friendship, but it seems to grasp sarcasm quite well. Delightful.

"Can you write it down?" Bowie frowns slightly, but shakes it's head. "Krrr-rk. Only felt. Not seen." Hmmm. Can't write it down... well, you DID hear it. Maybe you can replicate it?

>31

You attempt to repeat the horrible screeching noise you remembered. You honestly have no idea how to do this. You don't even know where to begin. Bowie only gives you a curious look. "Krr-tik?"

You get the feeling you failed miserably. "Um... just trying to say your name." Bowie clicks his teeth again. "Idiot fleshling. Cannot understand. Krrrr-kark." It seems vaguely annoyed at you now.

You scratch your chin. It occurs to you that you never wondered what Bowie gets from all this - he's been very cooperative but the Guide did say that Imps and Hellish entities in general did not work for free.

"Say, Bowie... why are you so helpful? What do you get out of this?" It gives you a glance and bares it's teeth in it's strange smile.

"Ha! Krrr-ka think properly now. Like any fleshling, not understand own actions. Summoning is contract. We take magic, serve in response. That is trade. We give name on... credit." It gives you another scrutinising look. "Krr-ka... has potential."

Not entirely sure what to make of this, you look around for Magister Pythianne. She's... gone. She's probably somewhere else in the Summoning Chambers though.

So let me get this straight, you cant share your magic with us because you don't channel, you have stores of magic harvested from different sources.
Is that right?

Look for Pythianne. Meanwhile, ask Bowie about the nature of contracts and what exactly it is the Imps get out of them. Also, ask if there are other things Imps and their kind want from fleshlings?

>Right on the nail.

"Well. I'm going to look for the Magister." You leave the main chamber and look around. You have no idea where you are or where to go. Bowie tugs on your collar and points down a corridor. "That way."

Thanking the Imp, you head down the dark corridor, and decide to ask it a few more questions whilst you have the chance. "Say... I don't suppose there's a way we can learn how to harvest magic like you do?" Bowie flicks you with his tail lightly and gives you an annoyed glance. "Just checking."

"Krrrk. We know of fleshling before. Great fleshlings that stole life and power from all. But not in our way." He's probably referring to the Magi of ages past, likely ones that practiced Blood Magic.

"Why do you want our magic? Do you need it to cast your own spells?" Bowie points you down another corridor and considers the question. "Not 'need'. Magic give power." You don't bother asking it why it wants power.

"Is there anything else Imps want from us 'fleshling?"
"Us? No. Power is all. Others?" Bowie shrugs as best he can, wings flexing.
"Others want others want. Most want Magic. Some are... different."

You arrive at a small door - the iron plaque clearly reads 'MAGISTER PYTHIANNE - SUMMONING AND BINDING'.

You briefly consider whether to knock or to listen in, before deciding to eavesdrop. Mischief away!

Bowie's ears twitch only slightly but otherwise it makes no moves to do anything else. Pressing your ear against the wood, you can clearly hear two voices and a soft... snoring?

"... but that's why you really should be more careful Pythia. Summoning's numbers have been declining. What will we ever do without it?" You're fairly sure that's the Archmagister's voice.

"Jasper, as an educator, my goal is to inspire! And what inspiration could they need if not that of the cute and adorable?"

"I'm just saying Pythia, Lyssa has been very insistent that you don't summon anything too... horrifying. There was last year's incident with the Herald you remember?"

"If you're worried about the students being irresponsible, then we should drive home the dangers of unsupervised magic!"

"All I'm saying is please consider... cutting back on it a little. For the student's sake." You hear a sigh.

"... Alright. I'll try and stick to elemental spirits from now on, and basic outsiders."

"Thank you Pythia. Now, if you excuse me, I have a lecture of my own to begin."

He's heading towards the door.

You knock on the door. No sooner than when your fist had left the door and began descending for another knock does the door swing open.

Sitting a mahogany desk, littered with books and scrolls is Magister Pythianne whose turned to face you, her face shifting from vague curiousity to positive delight when she realises it's a student.

Archmagister Jasper is present, as you figured he was. What you didn't expect however, was the fact that he is currently riding a llama. He gives you a friendly smile and a "Hello!"

Reclining on a couch opposite the desk is... the Magister in white. Vann you think his name was. He's... sleeping. Huh.

Bowie settles on your shoulder, talons gripping you lightly. "Ah! McTerrorcastle wasn't it? Come in, come in! You had questions? Well, I have answers! That's what I'm here for, after all, you know, teaching, educating." She says excitedly, practically shooting out of her chair to pull you into the room and all but pushing you into one of the cushy armchairs in front of her desk.

"I just wanted to say how cool the class was. The Daemon, I mean. Awesome." Jasper gives you a scrutinising look, but nods at your words.
"See Jas?" Pythianne puffs her chest out, causing her cleavage to bounce slightly. "The new generation knows where it's at!" The Archmagister makes a disinterested hm of mild agreement in favour of studying you for a bit more. "Well, I'll tell Lyssa maybe her worries are a tad unfounded this year. But! The lecture awaits! Onwards, noble steed!" The Llama begins to trot away.

Pythianne turns to you as the door closes itself behind Jasper. "I also wanted to know about um... well, learning Bowie's name." Pythianne glances at the Imp who clicks it's teeth.

She gives you a thoughtful look, turning a tad more serious before nodding. "Well, if you want to learn it's name, it's not as easy as learning say, my name."

"What do you think, Haztoraxifeliv?" Your not sure what exactly she says, but the harsh guttural noises and screeching sounds echo in your ears, a tingling sense of warmth. Bowie blinks in surprise before giving the Magister a shrewd look.

"Not really. Do you use magic to help or is there like a crash course I can take?" She giggles lightly at you and leans back in her chair. You can hear slight mumbling behind you followed by more snoring.

"A crash course? Well, I suppose I can offer one. You don't generally start learning about names proper until later though. The basic gist is..." She pauses, trying to find the way to describe it.

"Focus on what you feel when you hear it. Infernal names aren't sounds so much as they are... feelings. As for how I did it so easily sweetie? Practice mostly. Practice with a lot of different Infernals. It gets easier to understand the name and really get a hold it's meaning."

You turn to look at the Imp perched on your shoulder. It looks back at you. "And you expected us to understand that on our first go?" It flicks you with it's tail in mild annoyance.

"Don't blame it dear - it's kind of like discussing colour to the blind, or music to the deaf. It's not that you're blind per se, so much as it is you've never experienced it before." She waves her hand at one of her shelves, and a book zips into her grasp.

"Here. 'Dissertation on Daemons' by Atrocitus. Don't let his name bother you, it's really quite informative. Eager students get me all excited to teach!" She squeals again, hugging herself as she does so.

"But, if it's your little friend's name you want to learn, the best way to start is to listen to them say it. I could probably help, but it'd be considered rude for me to teach you their name. Especially whilst their right there!" She giggles again. "Is there anything else I can help you with, dear?"

"What other kinds of daemons are there, exactly?" She scratches her chin lightly at this hmmm'ing under her breath.

"Feasibly? Infinite. Part of what we do here at the Fifth Circle Academy is actually research into Magic, pushing it's boundaries and learning the extent of what is and isn't possible." She hugs herself again, swaying slightly with another squeal of excitement. There's a snort behind you, but the snoring resumes again.

"Just thinking about all those potential things waiting to be summoned gives me GOOSEBUMPS!" She pauses slightly to regain her train of thought, having been distracted by imagined things you probably don't want to think about.

"In terms of Infernals though, the main ones you'll probably concern yourselves with are Imps, Hounds, Keepers, Incubi/Succubi, Devils, and Daemons. Those are the main 'categories' I suppose you could call them, but their are others and variations within them."

You nod slowly, noting those for later research or thought. She gives you a serious look. "There are the more... individualised outliers but I'd advise you heavily to avoid them in general. The last time someone tried to even contact one... well... it didn't end well." You assume this might be the 'Herald' incident. It might be worth looking into.

"Do you have some free time we could do some summoning in? I want to practice this spell I read about, ah, Ahazi's All Seeing Eye."

She blinks at you slightly, before giving you a sly look. "Doing a bit of snooping are we hmmm? Got your... EYE on someone?" She laughs at her little joke. "Of course!" She points out several times she's free this week, but regrettably notes she has some overseeing to do soon right now. "If you keep the Eye around, try not to get up to too much mischief with it." She gives you a wink for good measure.

"Well... if you don't mind me asking, what's your favourite summon?" You try to put on a more 'friendly' tone.

She squeals.

"Ohhhh! How could I choose just ONE? I mean, there's the Gurgling Terrors, the Eater of All Things, um... if it's Infernals, I'm really partial to Daemons, I mean, how can I not be, all those spines and carapace, and the way they speak and aaaah..." She sighs dreamily, staring off into the distance.

"Elementals, ohh, I really do quite like the Lightning ones. The static's really tingly and it's not that bothersome. Celestials, the Choir of Heaven is absolutely divine!" She giggles again at her little joke. "My main focus is on a different plane though. The Entropic plane. I... oh I can't choose a favourite from there." She sighs wistfully.

"Incubi and Succubi? Do people really summon those?" You try to phrase it as though you are surprised without giving away that you were harbouring thoughts about doing that yourself. She gives you a sly look anyway.

"Of course silly - teenagers exist after all. But yes, people have summoned those before. Most magi in history weren't particularly picky about where they could draw power from. And well, perverts exist in every area of life."

"What kind of role does summoning really serve in the Empire though?"

"Well! It depends on what you prefer to summon really! Elementals are always useful and considered the 'pragmatic' choice - lots of cities like having an Elemental Summoner to help them with general things like watering the crops, construction, you know that kind of thing. Most people use Infernals and Celestials as servants and helpers. Devil's trade knowledge and secrets for... various things, and Celestial's are great if you aren't good at healing. As for the Entropic plane? Research!" Her eyes light up again.

You thank her for her time and leave, taking the book with you back to your dormitory.

You pass a few students you don't recognise on your way back, and find your room much as you left it. Jaqul hasn't returned from whatever it was he was doing today, so you have it to yourself.

You crack open the book and begin reading.

It's... not what you expected. Atrocitus certainly knows what's he talking about, but it's so buried deeply in melodramatic waffle, it makes your head hurt just thinking about it. Every three lines or so he insists on reminding the reader of his greatness and, well, atrociousness.

Still. You learn a bit about Infernals in general. Of interest, he mentions the benefits to understanding an Infernal's name.

Not only does knowing the name give you a way to summon them properly and consistently, knowing their Name can also be used to empower the Summon in a way. Infernals, he writes, are 'limited' by the material plane, and being by understanding their name and thus, their 'essence', it is easier to bring them into the material plane with a 'truer' form. Whatever that entails.

Tired of Atrocitus's melodramatics, you turn your attention to Bowie. "Guess I should try and learn your name huh?"

It grumbles at you slightly but grudgingly starts repeating it's name.

After an hour of practice, he bids you farewell and leaves in a plume of smoke. You think you've made some headway on learning his name though.

You greet him, but apologise. "Sorry. I'm heading to the library right now. I'm doing some independent research for my Summoning class." Lutharius nods at you in understanding.

"What was that like by the way? I heard someone fainted..."

"It wasn't that bad. I summoned an Imp. I think the Magister likes me." You leave out the part where she kept babbling about monstrosities and horrors. "What about yours?"

He pauses. "He was... wearing a dress. Nobody asked him why though. Other then that, it was pretty good! Mostly we just covered magical theory." You nod at him, bid him farewell and head towards the Library after a brief consultation with a map.

The Library is a large, pristine building, with a great pair of wooden double doors. Pushing them open, you are met by surprisingly cool air and stone architecture. You can see a small square-shaped ring of stone that seems to function as something of a desk. Piles of books and scrolls litter it, and a small bell with a note attached that says 'Ring for service.'

You glance around. You can't hear or see anyone else here. There doesn't seem to be a map of the Library, but you can see countless stone shelves, most of them far larger than you, all bursting with books. Various wheeled ladders of differing sizes litter about, probably for the use of those who don't know how to levitate.

It takes you only a mere minute to get tired of Atrocitus's longwinded megalomania. You glance up to see if the Librarian is coming having heard nothing, but immediately recoil in shock. Mere inches from your own face, a figure you can only assume is the Librarian gazes at you with wide, unblinking green eyes.

"Yes. Hello." He says in a soft voice, staring at you from behind a pair of small rectangular glasses. He's wearing a set of grey robes that signify his position as a member of Faculty but he's not a Magister outright.

You decide that you're going back to your dorms to study. For all you know, staying in the Library will make you turn out like the Librarian. It doesn't seem like that bad a fate but you have dreams. Dreams of money, wealth, and power. You are Hairy McTerrorcastle and damn it, you are not risking it!

You thank him once more, a little awkwardly, and turn to leave. You realise you didn't specify a period of time, and turn around to do so only to find him gone.

You can't even bring yourself to be surprised at that. You can, however, bring yourself to leave before this place starts to get to you.

The trip to your dormitory is uneventful, but you pass Jaqul, who only nods at you and mentions he won't be back at the dorm until near curfew. Looks like you have it to yourself.

You plop the four books down on your desk, next to the previous ones, and look over your haul.

The first one you picked up, about planes - Planar Encyclopaedia by Scholar Devayth. You give it a brief skim, and find it very articulate but dry. It's a very complete guide covering planes and planar denizens but nothing that screams out 'I'M A SPELL'.

The second, is named only the 'Book of Names' in black flowing script. It has no author. You flip through the yellowed pages. The first few pages talk about Infernal names, but the remaining pages seem to be composed entirely of just names. Names and portraits. The portraits all seem to be of horrifying and increasingly fiendish Infernal denizens.

The third book is titled 'Treatise on Summons', by 'Lanius'. It's concise, and details several experiments into the nature of Summoning. It touches upon Magic Circles and you pick up on something interesting 'Astral Projection'. Might be worth looking into.

>cont.
>>
>>26461527
The last book, 'Incubi, Succubi, Omnibi' talks in depth about, well, the titular Daemons. It goes into vast detail about the different ones the author summoned (who remains nameless). It classifies them by what they ask for in payment (but does mention this is not an accepted practice - or at least, wasn't at the time).

The author seems to know an awful lot about Incubi, Succubi and Omnibi.

Sounds by far the most practical and easiest to read. We can work on target demons once we have a firmer grasp of summoning in general. The books aren't going anywhere, and even if they do, they'll end up back at the library one way or another.

>>
>>26461729
>>26461703

Honestly, we'll have a better idea for a mid-term goal if something happens.

For now, we're driving the plot. Being able to summon and reliably control a succubus is in fact a good goal. Succubus tend to be low-to-mid powerful, both with charms and demonic magic. Maintaining self-control with one in the room is a good bar to leap.

That said, we don't know anything about succubi in this setting. Something to look into. Hey, we've got the book right there, how convenient.

If the plot comes and bites us with a quest hook, we can change tact and work on whatever is relevant, be that a summon that can support allies or something more directly violent. While we're in charge of developments, rather than reacting, I say full steam ahead with the succubus.

Let's face it, we're Hairy McTerrorcastle and by god we do what we want. And what we want is a pair of extraplanar tits with which to start a sex ring.

>succubi encourages more students into the summoning school of magic
>inadvertently save the magister's school while making ourselves some sweet cash

All part of the plan.
>>
>>26461822
Hypno Jew, if that were the case, it would have been done before this.
Obviously something is wrong with them, or summoning them is actually really hard.
At any rate, we will do it eventually, but skipping everything in favour for it is a bad idea.
>>
>>26461822
For that to work we first have to bind a Succubus to our will, no easy feat I might add. We are a teenage boy in the peak of hormones, we are an easy target for Succubi they would crush us.

I never said we should dive in headfirst. Of course we need to study up about what they are, what the catch is, and if screwing them is dangerous and whatnot.

Besides, summoning is clearly a dying art and succubi are maligned therefore there is a market to be filled. Also, there's clearly only a few hundred fully trained mages or less, so please.

I'm making a goal. We'll figure out if there's pitfalls on the way, but no need to shoot something down when you don't even know where the ammo is yet.
>>
Rolled 81

>>26461902
I agree actually. We're probably like... ten quests away from succubus summoning anyways.
>>
>>26461852
>we don't know anything about succubi in this setting
Nope. We know that they're low level things. Very low level. When we asked the magister about them, she said that it's mainly teenagers summoning them. And she also didn't give any examples of things they're good for.

People who are so dead set on succubi want them because sex demons. That's it. Virtually any of the other things our teacher talked about would make a better goal. Or just being able to summon Bowie effectively. But no. Succubi.
>>
Rolled 34

>>26461957
You're assuming a lot, but that is a good point. Still, that doesn't mean we can't figure out something better for them.
>>
>>26461923
This. I get the feeling the anti-succubus camp just doesn't want to turn things into an ERP session which is understandable, but overly cautious. Especially when our head teacher is described as being stacked and clearly nothing bad came of it.
>>
>>26461957

>But yes, people have summoned those before. Most magi in history weren't particularly picky about where they could draw power from.

I think you're extrapolating too heavily. Sounds like they could be useful.

If you're right, and they are easy to summon, then they'd make better practice because we aren't very strong yet.

Either way, I'm the anon that rolled that 100 for the third book. I'm totally on board for getting to know Bowie and broadening our knowledge base before going for succubi. It's called a goal because it's something to work toward, not something to do immediately without regard for everything else. But barring any other quests, succubi sex ring, because why the fuck not? And along the way we become bros with Bowie and learn something more practical like a elemental or a gratuitously violent demon.
>>
>>26461957
Succubi are still the most interesting thing to summon at the moment and they fit Hairy's character. Bowie's cool and all but he's too cryptic, which is the opposite of what a Succubus would be.
>>
Rolled 75

Its just the entire feel of our focus on it. It feels fetishy as all hell, and right now I'd prefer to focus on getting actually powerfull
>>
Rolled 83

>>26462108
We're focusing on getting powerful. I'm only pushing for it because summoning is clearly heavily regulated and I think some influence would be useful. It's more of an "en route" goal to power. We're going to learn a lot just by figuring out how to safely control them anyways, which is good practice for controlling REALLY powerful outsiders.

>>
Rolled 54

>>26462228
As I've said, I've never said nor implied that we do so. In fact, I've frequently advocated getting book learning for power. Just because you tl;dr things doesn't rewrite intent.
>>
>>26462244
Well, first of all is learning how to learn names, because otherwise if we come across something like a arch succubi by accident and can't learn her name, it's very low in chances to ever summon them again.
Next would be learning what plane we want to specialise in, which is why we got the first and second book.
>>
Rolled 22

>>26462299
We've already established we aren't skipping steps, and it's already been established that we're going to attempt to gain the ability to learn names. Seriously, could you try bringing something new to the table?
>>
>>26462330
Excuse me dear sir, but was I responding to your argument with the other idiot?
No I was not, I was making a small point to the man I linked my post to, not yours.
>>
>>26462299

On that note, I'm in favor of specializing in the Celestial and Demonic planes. Elementals are boring. Who wants a big candle or a rock golem when you can have a plague demon or metatron?

The "Entropic" plane also sounds rather fascinating...the magister seemed to be interested in it for her personal research. I can't imagine what kind of summons it holds, though, seems rather vague as a category.

You place 'Treatise on Summons' on the desk and open it. Despite it's academic and formal nature, you find the writing makes it very easy for you to get a quick grasp on all the concepts and details. The writer, whoever they are, would've made a skilled educator indeed.

>SPELL LEARNED!
>Magic Circle (Abjuration)
>DC (Varies)
>The Magic Circle is a spell utilising Runes as a foci. It is often used as a containment spell, containing summoned monsters or dangerous experiments. Clever Magi have sometimes used them as traps, luring opponents into the circle and activating it.

>SPELL LEARNED
>Astral Projection (Summoning)
>DC (Varies)
>The caster projects themselves into a plane. Different planes are harder to access. Failing the roll may mean the caster enters an unintended plane. The caster is not harmed during the Astral Travel, but may make enemies and allies alike. This spell is often used to learn about the denizens of a plane in a safe(r than usual) manner.

>SPELL LEARNED
>Channel Summoning (Summoning)
>DC (Varies)
>A very basic spell that is often used to maintain a Summon for longer. The DC is same as the DC for the original spell, but includes a cumulative +10 for every cast until the Summon is dismissed. Add 1d4 hours to the Summon's duration.

>Skill improved! +2 Abjuration, +2 Summoning.
>One hour has passed. It is now around 5pm.

I'm in favor of Book 1. It's dry categories...kinda like species names in biology. But you just gotta put your nose down and memorize it.

Also, I want info on all the categories of summons so we can make an educated decision on what to practice with first.

Rolling for Planar Encyclopaedia.

The books dry information is easily organised and accessible, but numerous. Thankfully, though, it is easy enough to absorb the information on Infernal Planar Denizens, the area that is quickly shaping up to be your expertise.

Imps (Infernae Magus)
Small winged humanoids. Commonly summoned by beginners, talented mages in their own right. The more powerful are known as Imp Lords, and are not usually summoned unless they take interest in the summoner.

Daemons (Infernae Militis)
The most common denizen of the Infernal Plane, Daemons vary wildly in power. Some Daemons are affiliated with different Elements, but all are characterised by a predominantly male-appearing humanoid figure, and vicious combat strength. Once used as shock troops by the Great Summoner Lords.

Devils (Infernae Diabolus)
Devils are very commonly summoned by those seeking something, be it power, wealth or specific things. Devils are always willing to sell what they have, but their prices are strange and alien. Some will ask for your chance at true love, others will ask for years of your life. Others will only smile and give you what you want. Devils are incapable of lying, but should not be trusted regardless. Incredibly hard to bind, a Devil can usually be trusted to show itself out if there's no deal to be made.

Succubi/Incubi/Omnibi (Infernae Femina/Masculus/Semimas)
A close relative of Devils, the Succubi and their ilk can be identified by their price. They possess a different category to ordinary Devil's due to their nature - Devil's seek what they want for alien reasons, but Succubi replenish their power via 'feeding'. Some feed on emotions, others on bodily fluids. Others drink from life directly.

Archdevils/Archdaemons (Infernae Diabolus/Militis Superior)
These powerful figures ascend from the ranks of ordinary Devils and Daemons when they have accumulated enough power. Rarely summoned unless sought out personally, they no longer take much interest in the Mortal world. Tend to command large hosts of their brethren, and jostle with each other for power.

Fiends (Infernae Monstrous)
Fiends are monstrous creatures, subsisting on slaughter and bloodshed. Like Daemons, they too were used as tools in Wars, but to bind a Fiend is almost impossible, their raging minds living only to kill and rend.

Hounds (Infernae Bestis)
Varying in size and power, 'Hounds' are a catch all term for the various infernal animals.

Shadow (Infernae Umbrus)
Shadows and other Infernal Denizens, whilst by no means enemies, are not 'allies' by any stretch of the word. Shadows tend to be silent and speak only when asked to once summoned. They are frequently used as Spies.
>>
>>26462940
The Infernal Plane

The Infernal Plane is rarely travelled to, for even as an Astral Projection it is a place of great discomfort. The air is filled with unholy screaming, and sears with maddening heat. Whilst semblances of Civilization can be discerned as existing based on the words of the Denizens themselves, it is organised in a way that makes no sense to mortal minds.

Primary Long-Term Goal:

Work with Bowie until we're awesome and he's an Imp Lord. Assist him in taking over a slice of the Demonic Plane. Rule the multiverse as father and son.

In other news...Daemons are our main combat summon. Imps are good for magic. Devils and Succubi are a bit grab bag, but could be useful - same for Hounds. Fiends make good suicide bombers to ruin an enemy's day. Shadows for spying and learning the weaknesses of our enemies so that we may tear their world from them piece by piece before we finally kill them.

>You appear to be flying off the rails! Would you like some help with that?

You settle down for a bit of Astral Projection. Magister Pythianne expressed an interest in the Entropic Plane, and deciding to throw all common sense and self-preservation to the wind, you decide to pop in and say hello. After all, if Magister Pythianne likes it, it can't be that bad can it?

You breathe in and out, relaxing yourself as you began repeating the chant in your head, focusing your Magic. It's a little disconcerting at first, feeling like your falling but slowly. At times it feels like you punch through some very thin paper. At some point however, the falling stops.

You open yours eyes. The world is black and white. You look down at yourself - you're naked. Clothes are apparently not a part of Astral Projection. Fair enough, you suppose. It's just the mind after all.

You look around. The ground reaches up to the sky like claws but when you look up, all you see are clouds. They swirl and dance slowly, a riveting ballroom waltz. It's silent. All you can hear is the sound of your soft breathing, and your steady heartbeat.

The ground beneath your feet is solid, and feels like dirt. It is a pitch black, however, and you can't define it at all. You look around to maybe see something. Anything.

A tree. In the distance. It seems so far away, but you can make it out clear as day. It's decaying branches are devoid of leaves but there's a single fruit hanging from the branches. You think it's a fruit. You can't tell.

You head towards the tree. You're not sure how long it takes you - time in different Planes passes differently to the Material Plane but you aren't even sure how far you've moved. You think you're closer. Are you closer? You can almost touch it...

You reach out with a hand, grasping lightly at it. It's... not anything you've really seen. It's like a solid orb of light, attached very lightly to the tree. It only takes a small tug to pull it from the tree.

It feels... it feels solid. Not cold. Not warm. It's just... there. You contemplate eating it. Can you even eat whilst projecting? You're not sure. But hey! What could go wrong right?

You bring it to your lips and attempt to bite it. Your teeth scythe through it easily, soft and pliable. It feels... smooth. It tastes...

Loud. You hear it in your eyes a song. It sounds... like a lullaby? You frown, looking down at the 'fruit'. It's a pitch black inside, and the 'juice' oozes from it, thick and viscous. The song plays for a little in your head before stopping.

You lick the juice experimentally. A few more notes play in your head.

Huuuuh.

There doesn't seem to be any other strange musical fruit trees in your sight. The clouds continue their strange dance.

Looking at the tree it seems very much gnarled. It, unlike everything else, is in shades of grey and in places a stark bright white. It's branches droop down, ending in thin, brittle fingers.

The music seems familiar somehow.

You dance. Why the hell not? Strange creepy music is playing in your head when you bite into a ball of light that oozes black viscous liquid.

You learned to waltz in your previous years - the Academy has an annual dance and you managed to get a date each year. You move smoothly and gracefully, almost imagining a partner in your arms.

Your name is Hairy McTerrorcastle, and you are naked in the Entropic Plane, dancing a waltz to a strange tune in your head.

You aren't sure for how long you were dancing, but at some point the music ends and you decide the dance must end as well. You give a mock bow to anything that might have been watching - the clouds, the ground, the trees.

Trees. There's another tree. It's... new. It, like the other, is old, worn, and droops to the ground. It does not have any strange orbs of light though.

No, nothing of the sort. It has a man, swinging from his ankle on a rope attached to the highest branch though.

"Hello." The moment you say hello, his eye snaps to you. 'Eye', because you now realise the other one is pitch black. Or missing. He's wearing white robes... or at least, something like them. His clothes, however, show no sign of obeying gravity.

"Oh̶ m͜y̵.͘ My, my, m͞y̕,̵ my͘.͏"

You frown slightly. You... aren't too sure what he just said. You think you have an idea though.

"Are you a native of this plane? And if it's not too much bother, could I ask why you're hanging from this tree?"

"H̵a͞ǹg͝i͡n̸g?̵ ̷W̧h̀at̛ ̀h͢a̶ng͜s g͟oes͠ ͡d͟o̷wn but we͏ go ùp͞.̛ ͝Do ̴y͟ou ̧ál͠w̧a͞ys҉ st̶a͝n̨d҉ u̵po͝n͞ t҉h̸e ͞śk͝y s͏o?͠"

You're fairly sure he just said you were standing on the sky. But...

You're falling. Almost as if on command, you plummet towards the 'clouds', and land in soft, forgiving... sand. The Hanging Man dangles above you laughing uproariously in a strange, almost discordant voice.

"Not so, but they do say we all stand beneath same sky is it not?" You brush yourself off slightly. The cloud-sand-something is a tad rough but very fine and smooth, and shifts and changes to winds you cannot feel or hear. He(It?) laughs again.

"Do you mind if I ask you who you are?"

He laughs again, swaying slightly on his rope.

"... Can you help me learn how to Summon?" Your beginning to find this... whatever it is irritating.

You contemplate how exactly to dance but you can't dance without a strange musical apple. How can you dance without music? You can't, that's how.

"We need music." You declare to him. He swings lightly, seemingly building up speed before he inverts himself again, this time a mere few feet from you.

We are only on page 5. It will take five or more hours until this thread dies. On the other hand, those who left after you declared the end of thread would be far more likely to rejoin with a new thread.

Yeah, pretty much this.

I'm gonna bet a lot of people don't realise you're continuing; so it's probably worth another thread anyway.
