Let's see... news.

So my best friend of 18 years died last Thursday, she's buried out in the garden. Stupid dog. That said, I did write something to run last week, but got talked out of it by a friend- it was unnecessarily dark and really didn't fit with where we've gone so far. I'll keep it around with the bad end notes I have, ya know. just in case.

Archives here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Strike%20witches%201989
and Character sheet/clifs notes version here http://pastebin.com/zFxWNup1

I'm also in the IRC, should it become necessary to yell at me.

++

The house, on the corner of aqua vista drive, isn't quite what you expected- looking decidedly... suburban. While it's certainly large, upper-middle class fare, it's also not what you figured a retired admiral would live in. Especially not after learning the guy was a shipping company heir to boot- one of those details you never knew.

You'd let Merlin call and set up the details- telling her you just preferred to drive. Honestly, you did- the open road helping you some. You think you're starting to come to grips with what's really bothering you, namely, all this magical shit- but then again, the recent string of mishaps in the air isn't exactly doing your state of mind any good either.

It's not exactly any great secret that Ice has been trying to find any mention in the witch's histories of anything like what Merlin claims you did, without much luck . You're not sure you're really at peace with the concept or not- of course, you're not even sure it was you. Could have just as easily been Merlin- wouldn't have been the first time she's done something out of the ordinary, would it?

1/2
>>
And that probably hits the root of it. You and Merlin, combined, as a team, are just too damned strange for Ice. Slider's already told you- she's always been the good student, even if she was rowdy in school, she passed everything with flying colors. Top one percent of the top one percent of her class, that sort of thing. And here you two are, defying everything she's been taught. On the one hand, it almost makes you want to smile. On the other, you know it's slowly driving her crazy- you don't fit. You shouldn't be, as it were.

And it's rubbing off. You don't doubt you're good in a jet- one of the best the navy has, for damn sure. But before, you were confident that you were just good, and could leave it at that. Now? It's different. Now there's that seed of doubt in the back of your mind that says that maybe she's right, and you're a gnome- stupid name, but serious implications for you if it's true. Honestly, right now, you're anxious to get back to a line unit, if for no other reason than you know you won't have the time to worry about this shit.

Merlin nudges you, motioning for you to park next to a staff car- maybe one of the admiral's old friends, you think. The Harley grumbles to a stop as the front door opens and Georgette greets you, wiping her hands on a kitchen towel.

“Hello Samantha, Frank. Did you have any trouble finding the place?” She asks as you walk up the driveway. “How was the drive?”

[x] “Not bad. Needed the time on the road.”

“Not bad,” you admit with a smile, hanging your battered jacket and your scarf on the pegs by the door. “Needed the time on the road.”

Georgette nods, smiling as you hang the scarf under your jacket. “You still have that scarf?” She asks.

You laugh. “It's a great for riding, yeah. Had to wash it a few times, but my dad told me about a place not far from pendleton that he used for years, little Korean lady that runs the place recognized my name and doesn't charge too much to keep it clean.”

You nod to it. “I'm going to have to start wearing it on flights, seems like no fighter ever designed has adequate cockpit heating.”

Georgette laughs. “Imagine how it is in strikers!”

“Or on deck in the north Atlantic in the winter.” Nicholas adds, joining you in the entryway from one of the adjoining rooms.

You smile and nod, arresting a salute halfway and returning his handshake. He chuckles. “Don't have to salute me anymore, Bishop. Just when I'm wearing the old uniform, eh?”

You grin. “Sorry sir, just reflex.”

He chuckles. “So's the sir? Please, just call me Nick.” He looks past you at Merlin, who's covered herself partway by hiding behind you. “Hello, Samantha.”

“H-hi Admiral.” She says, tentatively.

He chuckles. “Samantha, please. Rank doesn't apply among friends, call me Nick.”

“O-ok.” Merlin answers, still quiet.

He smiles. “Samantha, would you like to talk? There's a spot in the garden I've always liked, by the canal.”

She looks up at you, then at Nick, then back at you, then at Nick again before nodding. “S-sure.” She says.

Georgette indicates the kitchen as the two of them walk out the back of the house. “So, Frank, what happened?”

Clearly this caused a number of flashbacks not just for Merlin, but for a good portion of our unit. Which is bad, as well, as much as we try to stay alive, death kinda seems to ride on our wings. Might want to mention Katya was acting a bit off when we left, and what condition she is in.

The important thing isn't the crash though. Thats affecting the people around him and thats being taken cared of. Like Nick helping Merlin.

[x] “Crashed with someone else in the back seat.”

“Crashed with someone else in the back seat.” You say, shaking your head. “I thought I had it- I did have it- I...I don't know.”

“You crashed? Again?!” Captain Blackwell's voice comes from the kitchen as you step in- you stiffen and salute by reflex. “Jesus Christ, Bishop! Why the hell do you hate aircraft so much!”

“Emile!” Georgette chides, planting her fists on her hips. “Not in this house!”

Captain Blackwell looks suitably admonished. “Sorry Mama.” She says, looking at her feet. “I just- What happened?”

You shrug. “The bird felt like it didn't want to fly. Other than that, not sure yet, ma'am.” You respond, indicating Merlin and Nick, outside. “It shook my RIO up pretty badly, she wasn't there.”

Georgette nods. “And Samantha called because she wanted to talk to Nicholas.”

“Why would she want to talk to papa?” Captain Blackwell asks.

“Because he knows what it's like.” Georgette says, simply, stirring a pot of something and indicating you should sit at the table. “And because he thinks their commander is in over her head.”

“So I've heard.” Captain Blackwell supplies, dryly. “We haven't even been in for a day yet and I've already had calls from the academy, asking about Lieutenant Commander Bishop and Lieutenant Wells.” She shakes her head, then looks at you. “What are you, Bishop?”

>>26477843
she didn't know that, in Gensokyo people stay dead when they're killed, and maybe becoming a ghost.

I have no idea whether you're agreeing or arguing with me.
>>
>>26477809
the waifu wars is an understandable evil. we're dragging in /a/ by having this based in an anime.

with /a/ flooded with waifu warriors, you should have known this.
>>
>>26477883
Another thing about being a prof. writer: There's the matter of planning, idea review, and other things PF regularly ignores, relying on his raw talent alone.
>>
>>26477597
That wasn't permanent. Just aftereffects of Keine's intervention. Think of what happened to Ford and Arthur after they got rescued in HGTTG.
>>
>>26477905
It really does need plot though. Not once a week raids. I know he was building up to a massive operation of some kind but we never see anything actually happen other than force build up.
>>
>>26477929
>implying

People are naturally attracted to certain characters, and are gonna argue about who's the best no matter what. And /a/ hates this series of quests
>>
>>26477938

I'm pretty sure he could've come up with something saner than a fucking Luchadore, he even admitted it was pretty stupid.
>>
>>26477925
If you're the one who finds him being a professional writer funny, more agree than disagree. He has the talent alright, but not alot else.
>>
>>26477929
Hey now, some of us are euqal parts /tg/ and /a/ and know how to leave the waifu shit where it belongs, although if the writers wanted to keep this shit from getting out of hand, they need to set a clear winner from the beginning and show the develop meant of the relationship, not give us this murky water shit we've gotten in almost all SW quests.
>>
>>26477900
that can still be done.
>>26477905
some how in the back of my mind, he just might be doing that. putting it down as a quest here, he's stress testing the orginal story in a sense. or something like that. (shrugs) just a passing idea.
>>
>>26477906
>in Gensokyo people stay dead when they're killed
Not true, Eiki can reincarnate people when she judges them.
>be one of the current problems
Uh, what?
>>
>>26477960
They do?
>>
>>26478003
Most of the SW fans on /a/ didn't like how SWQ shits on the lore/characters. I think both are alright, but they are very different.
>>
>>26478003
When ever SWQ or a spin-off is mention they say 'Not Anime related' Bullshit. The worse ones hate the fact there is male MC's. I wish I could discuss the quests in /a/.
>>
>>26477983
Are you surprise? It's /tg/ and most writers are far more familiar with planes and guns than they are normal romance. Hell look at this Quest with Ghost trying to pull action scenes for any and all reasons.

>>26477995
reincarnate is not the same as resurection, reincarnate would have him being born as a kid in gensokyo with maybe some of his memories.

I say current problems because well a chunk of the readers never asked for 'self righteous crusade against gensokyo'

But could we just drop this before it derails the thread.
>>
>>26478017
Eh, if I wanted to follow the lore and characters in complete goosestep I'd read some doujins. The fun of a quest based on something like that is impacting/changing shit
>>
>>26478017

Funny, I like SWQ specifically because the changes PF made to the lore and background, despite how he handled the story later on.

>>26477977
I was the guy who found it funny, anyway, his inclination towards shenanigans doesn't help him either.

I know plenty of fanfiction writers who deserve to get published, unfortunately, Planefag isn't one of them.
>>
>>26478050
Those are yurifags, the worst kind of people on /a/
>>
>>26478089
>SWQ specifically because the changes PF made to the lore and background
BINGO! I love this fact, it could have some work done on it but it's still better then SW proper.
>>26478091
It's not just yurifags that bitch about it but they are some of the worse.
>>
>>26478089
Yeah that's one of the many things stopping him: the sheer impulse to do some sort of hijinks. Sure it'd fly on neckbeard websites, but on the professional scene, it takes far more than sheer randumb humor to cut muster.

I believe he hasn't reined in such things because with his level of talent he gets away with it in most places and thus feels no need to improve upon it.

>>26478091
that or from /u/, one of the two.
>>
>>26478083
>Are you surprise? It's /tg/ and most writers are far more familiar with planes and guns than they are normal romance

/a/ Strike Witches fans in general don't know shit about normal romance, and I'm pretty sure they're a crowd that we don't want to cater to whatsoever, if at all possible.
>>

It helps that SWQ, and Strikers '89, and tank witches and all of that play up the fact that magical girl child soldiers is hell without going full grimderp.

Not particularly, and I don't think they're as bad with romance as you think they are, they just never try because I think they believe the audience wouldn't like it, but fuck, there is a reason there is always some romance in alot of action flicks, dual nature of the hero and all that fun shit.

hard to believe considering the waifu wars and the fact the girls are part of the draw to somethign SW related. The lack of witches in most of the related stories are why they're not as popular.

[] “I sure wish I knew, Ma'am.”

“I sure wish I knew, Ma'am.” You respond, trying to keep your voice level. “I'm half afraid- you know what someone said? Merlin told me- she overheard it. They said I'd burnt that cat out. Something about me, I cause jets to just fall apart.” You sigh. “What if that's true?”

“Do you believe that?” Georgette asks, looking over her shoulder at you.

“I- Not really. You say. “But there's a lot of people that attribute a lot of strange things to Merlin and I, so....”

“So you think it might be true.” Captain Blackwell says.

You nod.

“You two are a strange combination, true,” She says with a snort. “But most of that's probably because we've never seen a gnome- oh, don't look at me like that. You think anybody who wasn't could have survived Tanana? Let alone the shit you did over Japan.”

You shake your head, thinking. True, the last few times it had come up, the witches- Slider and Ice, especially, felt certain you were a gnome, and you'd dealt with it just fine. It comes as no great revelation that your captain thinks it's true too.

“We've never seen a gnome working with a witch this closely. Hell, I can count on my hands the number of gnomes that even worked with witches in general over the past fifty years, let alone in the same aircraft.” She shrugs. “It's entirely possible this kind of thing would happen with any other witch, given the same time.”

“But it's still a big deal?” You ask. “I mean, you said it yourself, captain. You weren't even home a day, and they were already calling.”

She nods. “Sure. Because it is unusual, and they're not sure, either.”

“But you are, Emile?” Georgette asks.

She nods. “Yes mama. I am. This it just a gnome and a witch working together in the same aircraft. I'm sure we'd see the same thing in, say, a tank.” She motions to you- for your benefit, Georgette still has her back turned. “Papa told us about that one pilot he met during the war- remember? The one he caught trying to steal ice cream?”

Georgette laughs, and nods.

“Well,” Emile continues, “If he'd have flown with a witch gunner, say, maybe we'd have seen the same thing.”

Georgette shrugs. “So you think it's just their bad luck to be the first, Emile?”

“Bad luck? no.” The captain says. “They're going to be the ones taught about in every academy- I'd be shocked if Lieutenant Wells didn't start finding herself swamped by offers to teach at academies after she's out of the Navy.”

She looks at you. “What about you, Bishop? You given any thought to what you'll do if I'm right?”

[x] “Not really, no ma'am.”

“Not really, no ma'am.” You answer with a slight shrug. “I'd always just thought I'd go career and stay with it till they wouldn't let me fly anymore.”

The captain shrugs. “The way you're going, that might not be that much longer. I've already heard that you're restricted to VF three aircraft from here on in.” She grins. “Of course, it's not unheard of for a pilot to make his way pretty far up through having history with witches. Ask Admiral Nixon about that sometime.”

“Emile...” Georgette says in a warning tone.

“Sorry mama.” She says, again.

“Emile, why don't you show Frank around a bit? Supper is about ready, but I need to set the table.” Georgette says, turning around.

She nods. “Come on Lieutenant Commander. Might as well see a bit of the place while you're here.”

The house, as it turns out, is quite nice- smaller, perhaps, than you expected, but then again, there's only the two of them living here. A Bren light machine gun is mounted above the fireplace.

“Mama taught us how to shoot on it.” Captain Blackwell says, noticing your gaze. “A bit different from the M-16 we carried in my day, but I like to think it made it easier in the long run.”

You nod, looking at the pictures- framed school pictures, one of your captain, you think, leaning against a mustang, the keys dangling from one hand and a grin on her face.

“My first car.” She supplies. “Bought it new, back in '67, just out of the academy.”

/a/non here. These quests suck because you niggers can't write cute girls to the point where SW's paint-by-numbers cast has almost double the charm and appeal of any given character in here. SWQ and its derivatives only seem to have the asinine, childish appeal of DOING IT RIGHT, and I shouldn't have to explain how treating the Strike Witches setting as a place to create serious drama is a mistake of the highest order.

tl;dr
Strike Witches Quests are tryhards.
>>
Other pictures hang along the walls- a portrait of an old joint fighter wing, eight witches, including a younger Georgette, arrayed in front of a Fighter- you can't ID it- in a hangar. A faded unit patch shows a bird of prey- eagle, maybe? Gripping a cracked red hexagon in it's talons, a lightning bolt peircing it's prey. Above the bird, the patch reads 502nd Joint Fighter Wing, and below, it bears the legend Brave Witches.

“Mama's unit, from the war.” Captain Blackwell says, smiling as you look back at her. “After the Gloire went down.”

Framed paintings of a pair of ships- you easily ID the battleship California in one, the other, you're not sure- looks like a light cruiser, maybe a destroyer. “The cali I recognize,” you say, “But what's this other one?”

“The Gloire. Mama's ship in the earlier part of the war. Light cruiser with the french navy. Went down in the north Atlantic taking on three martian dreads.”

“Three dreads? In a light cruiser?” You ask, kind of surprised. “Either their skipper was nuts or...”

“He couldn't outrun them- they were working an ambush. He died on the bridge early on, the man that took over, LaCroix, he dispatched mama to save the ship's logs and give warning. She ended up being picked up by the California when papa dove into the water after her. The two dreads weren't a match for the royal navy battlegroup sent to hunt them down.”

2/3 (oops)
>>
“I thought you said there were three?” You ask, looking back at the painting.

“The Gloire took one with her.” Captain Blackwell says, simply.

A few other pictures dot the walls- including Captain Blackwell's official picture- the one taken when she received command of the Saratoga. She sighs when she looks at it.

You're about to ask what's wrong when Georgette calls- dinner's ready.

[x] “Don't dwell on it cap. We heard what happened, you did a hell of a job.”

While the captain doesn't exactly engender the easy kind of friendship you've formed elsewhere, you can't not say anything. It isn't in you to just be quiet.

“Don't dwell on it, cap.” You say, shrugging. “We heard what happened, you did a hell of a job.”

She nods. “I still lost people, Bishop. Nothing can change that. Thanks for your concern.”

You don't quite know what to say to that, really.

You stand at the table, looking kind of lost, as Georgette sets down dinner. “Sit, sit!” She orders, putting down a basket of rolls. “Nicholas will get the drinks. I hope you drink Milk.”

You nod with a smile and take a seat next to Merlin, who, for her part, looks no different than before. Then again, you ask yourself, she wouldn't look different at all, would she?

The dinner- roast beef- is excellent, challenging even Rosalie's cooking. You'd almost, almost consider the high heresy of calling it as good as your mother's cooking, but nothing is as good as mom's cooking. Nothing.

So, when Nick asks you what you think, you respond as best you can- “It's the best I've had in a while.”
He chuckles at that and nods, agreeing. “She's great with roast like this.” He says, nodding to the platter- half gone by now. “Of course, I think her frog legs are the best.”

Georgette giggles at that, and Captain Blackwell makes a noise of disgust. “Papa!” She chides. “Not around guests, please.“

Nick, for his part, just laughs.

You help to clear the table after dinner, heading back out onto the back patio with everyone. On the way out, you notice a framed newspaper- French- with the headline “Amour Francais, fait en Amerique” and a picture of a one-eyed Nick embracing Georgette while she kisses him.

Georgette notices, and smiles a bit. “That was taken in nineteen forty three. It caused quite a stir when Nicholas and I fell in love.”

You chuckle. “Aren't all witches like that?”

She laughs. “No, no. Not at all. Clostermann kept her relationship quiet, for the most part. But she helped so much during the reconstruction that the papers always had plenty to talk about anyway.”

You're outside for an hour or so when the phone rings.

“I've got it.” Emile says, getting up to answer it on the fourth ring- right before the answering machine catches it.

She pales a bit, then sets the headset back down in it's cradle. “Bishop, Wells. You two get back to your unit. The reds invaded Iceland.”

Well, currently he seems to be leaning towards Ice, Katya, and maaaaaaaaaybe Slider. You don't see anyone pulling for Mav (which is kinda a shame, given her namesake you'd think she'd play more of a role in things).

Gotta say, I don't think it's a good idea for Frank to just pick one in the middle of all this. At least to do so openly. Right now VF-3's gotta keep their heads in the game, and while they ARE military, it's primarily made up of teenaged girls, most of whom are attached to Frank to one extent or another. There's already enough drama as is.

Yoshika completely regen'd Young's liver, and she was going off of raw power with no technique. An experienced trained healwitch is probably capable of a lot of things, especially considering her saving Frank's life earlier.
>>
>>26481264
Well, even if Fronk does pick a girl, don't expect to the waifu fags to let the issue go. Like in VMQ, the MC finally hooked up with a girl 2/3 of the way in, and some people were STILL complaining about how they didn't get the pairing they wanted to the very end.

Way I see it, in terms of pure character interaction, Ice is probably the one. She's the one who's changed the most because of Fronk. She clearly likes him but is trying to be a responsible CO.

At the same time, Ice is probably the girl who, even if she doesn't get the man she's in love with, and while it would hurt her for a long time, she'd still cheer him on in the end. It's kinda funny how she thinks Slider is better for Fronk and Slider thinks the opposite. They both deeply care for him.

Sounds cruel, but until Katya's 100 percent, she's gonna be outta the game.
>>
>>26481571
don't remind me that the Katya fans's mindless devotion more or less resulted in Maverick and Goose getting ignored and whole threads being mostly wasted due to there being NO FUCKING DEVELOPMENT.

It's like they only like her because she's an older Sanya that idolizes frank to the point of putting out on demand

the other witches are not his wingmate, it takes a lot of time and effort for a lead and wingmate to work well together and form a bond, and randomly swapping one out for another because you couldnt be arsed getting a heal witch to make sure your wingmate is in the best possible care is fucktarded and going to get people killed
>>

Well, we're on our way to another major story arc, so we'll see how things shake down. Honestly I think VF-3's been living the most charmed life possible, all things considered. They've ridden the edge for so long, they have to slip eventually. Iceland is likely going to be...hotly contested.

I do have a suggestion for Ghost: Write longer story posts. I know the three hundred character limit eats all the dicks now and forever, but I think if you stretched the exposition a bit more, you could alleviate some of the complaints people have had (some, you'll always have people crying over their favorites).
>>
>>26481671

>>26481634
The 'other witches' were his wingmates for longer than he's ever known Katya. She's a good fighter, no one is saying otherwise, but everyone in the squadron who was there from the beginning would do anything they could for eachother.

Katya's the outsider. A good person and great witch, but stop pretending she's the 'only' option for a wingmate.

Shit, they even have a proper steelwing to fly with Fronk. VF-3 can make up a temporary loss.

>>
>>26482138
>not an excuse to have jet battles.
That is literally the reason for at least half the story. PF started writing SWQ because he was bothered that men and their awesome planes were completely sidelined in "canon" Strike Witches. The story is about the characters, sure, but it is also about their actions. They are military pilots. They fly planes (and magical plane legs) in war. I like SoL, but expecting a story about a fighter pilot in a war to not have jet battles is like expecting Moby Dick to not have whaling
>>
>>26482215
And of course during all this Konstantina is lying in Frank's bed, very confused that he's not there
>>
>>26482217
PF actually had Minna develop some, otherwise we'd ahve more people trying to shit things up out of spite
>>
>>26482255
Sure. I'd argue that Katya has also developed somewhat as a character as well. That doesn't have anything to do with complaining about jet battles in a story about fighter pilots though...
>>

Do you mean character development? Honestly these are little things off the top of my head that I doubt will convince you, but here goes. We've learned that Katya:
>likes books
>likes chess
>is worried about her family in mother Russia because she defected
>didn't get along with her previous commander
>was something of a celebrity in the Russian military because of her family name (this had its ups and downs)
>served in Afghanistan and doesn't like to talk about it
>Is absolutely terrified of losing Fronk after he went all white knight to save her when she defected
>Due to same saving, somewhat idolizes(idolized perhaps?) Fronk as the man who can do no wrong
>Last thread either reconsideration of Fronk-idolization or reconsideration of relationship with Fronk (we don't know yet)

Those are off the top of my head, and some of them might be OOC knowledge gifted to us by Ghost, I can't recall
>>
>>26482475
Valkyrian Mercs Quest. Finished up a week or two ago. Fantastically written, I'd recommend you read it in the archives...ended up being like ~50 threads iirc

Those are all valid points. I'm not the person you're trying to convince, mind you. I agree that those are all evident of character development, but I highly doubt that some of the people here will agree.

It's funny, honestly. All the fighting and whining probably does way more to hurt Ghost's sympathies towards waifu'ing than help it.

Yes, shenanigans are all well and good, but I wouldn't put it past PF to have us lose a secondary witch or a gnome or a large ship under our care. Remember how poorly Young reacted when his little sister showed up to war? Yea, imagine if he watched a witch go down in flames...he would become alcohol
>>
>>26482862

The first one hit an engine block, wasn't enough to take it down.
>>
>>26482862
Having events occur in a story is not railroading you titanic moron.

Fronk and Merlin are not the perfect team. They can't win the war alone, and they can't even win battles alone. Alaska should have proven that to you, but you're still insisting on bring that shit up every time you feel your favorite character isn't getting screen time, you use it to cry 'OMG RAILROADING'.
>>
>>26482862
>Wasn't that due to one of the missiles being off target?

Both were direct hits.

>I doubt it'd happen, it's not how SWQ works.

Yea no, this is SWQ 89, where we see OPFOR witches losing legs and the MC purposely targeting cockpits on occasion.
>>
>>26482907
Besides the missiles, the matter that we didn't clean up the other things allowing others to help would have affected things if not for some anon thinking in vidya terms that all they had to do is take out the main target and everything would be alright.

SWQ has a general vibe of fuck yeah! leaving the more serious stuff to the other stories/quests. If SWQ was going to serious up, it'd have done so long ago, and doing so in the future it come off as a certain cool guy jumping over some sharks.

>>26482910
It did slow it down though which could have brought time for other things.

>>26482929
By the way you're presenting it there was nothing to do to save the ship not matter what we choose, so in a way that's a railroaded event.

Not that it matters as it's just a game to you.

And the character stuff? way to grasp at the strawman. People like you are why SWQ-universe stuff are hated.
>>
>>26482985
Eh the one shark twin is missing a leg more due to someone's amputee fetish than real drama as it's never brought up for dramatic things.

And I said it'd never happen in SWQ to answer the question of the chance of it happening in SWQ proper ,not here where it's a bastard mix of bleach (tons of characters), bad 80's action movies about killing commies, and air combat.
>>
>>26482990
>SWQ has a general vibe of fuck yeah! leaving the more serious stuff to the other stories/quests.
Were you not around when MC got robo-stabbed? Or when Sanya almost brained Minna because of Martian mind-beams? Or when we legit pointed a gun at our superior officers? Or when Robin showed up? Shit used to be serious...and I'm not confident that PF won't ever turn it back that way, given the opportunity.
>>26483041
He's talking about the dogfight where we basically buzzsawed off a Russkie witch's leg with the machinegun and watched her plummet into the Bering strait.

Sometimes in life there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO. You're making assumptions based on nothing other than the fact that you are buttmad that you are not getting your way in a game where multiple people are involved.

You're pretending that you know FOR CERTAIN that the Kitty Hawk could have been saved. Are you fucking clairvoyant? You can't know these things. It's not possible to know.

What if we saved the Hawk, but in the process Katya was killed while protecting us from the Soviet fleet? Or Ice? Or Slider? Or anyone, really? What if we got a bad end and we were killed along with Merlin?

Your entire argument is "B-B-BUT OTHER PEOPLE VOTED AGAINST ME! THEY WERE WRONG! MY DREAM SCENARIO SAYS WE COULD HAVE WON FOR SURE!"

People like you might hate people like me in a SWQ thread, but everyone else hates /tg/ because of people like you.

>someone's amputee fetish than real drama

its a fucking great way to introduce a witch flown steelwing, adds backstory and a sense of believability to the characters and makes them interesting

all without being fetishy
>>
>>26483087
Technically that was Katya. We set her up for the shot, and she shot that Russkie witch's leg off.

...By the way, we've seen that witch again, but we decided to muck around in the pool instead of investigating.
>>
>>26483119
I'm curious to hear the story behind them going through flight training on steelwings. We need tot talk to them in a non-prankwar context
>>
>>26483041

Problems with your post aside,

are you implying Ghost has an Amputee fetish?

Hue

>...By the way, we've seen that witch again, but we decided to muck around in the pool instead of investigating.

uhh, i didn't think that witch got rescued
>>
>>26483152

Wait, that witch by the pool REALLY was that ruskie witch?
>>
>>26482990
>>26483112
At the end of all things, this is a story on the internet about magical girls that fly plane legs. I can understand being somewhat frustrated with each other, and I really should be inured to this by now, but ya'll could probably both afford to turn it down a couple notches
>>26483152
I thought that was an unrelated American witch without a leg? Huh
>>
>>26483184
YUP.
>>
>>26483198
I never got that impression, which was why i didnt vote to investigate it

now i sads

Whoa, WHAT. This I did not know!
>>
>>26483194
magical girl child soldiers, mind.
I agree that there's a balance to be struck between fun and grimderp, and I think that's been done so far
>>
>>26483198
>Cue anon frantically talking to every female amputee on base
Ghost set himself up for one hell of a trollercoaster
>>26483217
It's not even a balance between fun and grimderp. I think SW89 has done that fantastically, and SWQ did it well for the first 1/2-3/4 of the quest. I was just talking about how buttmad two anons were over their differing interpretations of a story written online
>>
>>26483254
Meh, I dunno about that. You wouldn't have known it was her if not for me. YOU'RE WELCOME, GOOD BUDDY.

This actually puts my prospective SW quest into question...

Though speaking of grimdark, an attended IED would really fuck up a tank witch's day.
>Be inna iraq
>Come under small arms fire, put up shield
>Pipe bomb beneath you detonates and shreds through your torse

I just tend to assume that you guys are working the one-two punch angle

>>
>>26483383

It's not that I mind- You'd have gotten to talk to her a bit, and her marine savior, but it's not like they were gonna be major characters.
>>
>>26483362

Well since it has already come to this, could you say the rational why she wasn't in a holding cell? Even for her own protection? There most have been alot of servicemen who lost friends onboard the kittyhawk.

WELP if Ghost already has plans for that russkie which it looks like I'll have to come up with something else for that SW quest I was thinking of.
>>
>>26483409
well they are now, seeing as we know about it and shall wage a crusade to find her, though it will be funny when we comb the base to find her, finally meet her and go "uhh hi, I helped blow your leg off"
>>
>>26483416

Do the other ruskie witch.

The one who surrendered in the face of 3 tank barrels after seeing her comrade get the mozambique drill.
>>
>>26483416
you need to get into the swq IRC with Ghost
>>
>>26483411

Just been released into the protective custody of the academy there in San Deigo. You didn't see her witch minder because you didn't talk to her.
>>
>>26483437
Which was why I was sort of asking about it when the thread began. I didn't actually know she showed up again 10 threads ago.
