Unknown and untouchable thing rule the worLd. Oh, they ruled you. You are one of them, now.

You have seen things that have looked back, things that never did, and things that could only exist when you saw them. You have had your souls nibbled by the P-O', and have eaten half the soul of a black, silvery hound.

You were the eye in the shadow, the mouth on the wall, and the touch of nothing.

Your existence is impossible and improbable, but you dO.

Where?

Questions that you have long forgotten, or those you will forget.

What is a question?

There's a strange realization, that yes, you can ask - a thing that was forbidden since unknown and unseen.

>Sanity Increases

>A question is the way to understanding.

Yes, you are somewHere. Here.

It's something that has straight lines where it shouldn't. Something that is closed where it could be open.

Hesitant steps. Footsteps.

It's dark here. Something is looking at the darkness. At you.

He hasn't seen you open your eyes and he might get scared if he does. But he is still, frozen in that moment of reaching out towards the darkness, towards you.

His other hand is clutching something in the middle of his face. Even if his face is all wrong, with two eyes instead of any other, better number, and it's the face that has teeth, not everything else - nor anything else.

The creature is still pinching it's nose as it's fingers make contact.

That's a human. You probably should have know that. Or not.

He is trying to grasp onto something without form - and the outcome of this connection is unclear.

This Human, however, he doesn't believe in things that you have seen - nor he does believe in you, he thinks he is doing something entirely mundane, like checking out a weirdly misshapen corpse of another human.

"What is it?" There's a shout from another place, outside.

the policemen are good enough to bring many talking machines, even if they only ever whisper a single question. "Who's there?" Some of them are wrapped into different clothes, others are bare, whispering out to the world.

Alexander babbles in protest, but you know better. The phrase likes him. It was his, to begin with, but you have reuinited them again.

However, it had grown and changed, and Alexander screams as he is introduced to his own child.

The Echoed Phrase rejects him after a while, keeping his voice to himself.

"Who's there?" You ask, as the human concepts echo within youself. They are Strange and different. Love is the first to go - if you are one, why would you need love.
Bravery is something that stays, in a sense - if you ever had a question of what it is, its taking a step forward without glancing back.
Fear lingers in all of your human minds, but stays out of inhuman shadow that you cast.
There's You and the rest of the world.

There is a legend. Well, obviously, it's more of a story than a full blown legend, but it's only because it's recent.

They say that there is a flat thirteen on the seventh floor. No one lives there, because it can't be found by everyone. But it is there, nonetheless.

You might laugh at me, or call me insane, but I have seen the door - old, battered door, marked with a police badge.

And if you put your head to the doors, you hear a little child chuckle merrily, a burning engine of a car that's trapped inside of the room.

Then, a number of steps, and a loud sniffing noise - someone trying to taste you from behind the door. If you continue further, you might hear a question.

Usually, it is a simple one - "Who's there?".
Other times, it's a more difficult one - "Why?"
Sometimes, you might get lucky and hear an impossible one. "Just what is this Love?" A little girl's voice asks. If you linger, you will always hear an answer. "I wouldn't know, child, all I have left, is Despair."

And then, the door might creak open one bit. That's where you have to run. Run and never look back. For if you look inside, the one that lives there might notice you.

You wouldn't want that.

Now go, leave me alone, forget what I have just said. Move away from this place.

Because if you keep thinking about all this, you might just get a call.

A call from an unknown number, or an echo in a radio show you are listening. It will ask then - "Who's there?"

And whatever you answer. It will be a wrong one.

Pray that you never have to.
>>
>>26509247
That was fun OP even though i was the one that killed us Planning on doing anything else in the future?
>>
Anyway, it has been fun. I can answer random question and stuff.

The idea was to play a being with 0 sanity, and you had a chance of reaching any of 100 and 0 again - at first, you had huge bonuses for sanity gain and couldn't lose it much, and as it went, sanity loss was increased.

If you had given the child some feelings, that would have thrown you to 100 sanity. There would have been a different ending.

>>26509289
Hah, glad you had some fun.
The prologue could have been more polished, but I actually miscalculated the time needed for me to do so, but it's the usual result in the rare quest I actually do.

And yes, I pop up from time to time but too rare to be of note. Next time you're playing an obscure quest, it might be actually me there, watching. :D

>>26509048
There were two objectives, 0 and 100. Both would have ended the game. At first, you couldn't lose sanity as easily, too, but at 50 it was a fair game to both sides. I would have ended it whenever I would have gotten tired, too.
