Um.. Guys, I am back... ;_;

You are Otto Schulte a twelve year old girl on her way to destiny, you've spent an entire day on a planet - the longest you've ever lingered on one in your life, moments ago you began your treck towards the mess hall and "lunch"

Last week we had a rude awakening, got our name thrown to the wind and gave nikkobar -100000000 Schulte points.

"Those in the light of the emperor, will need sunblock"

Roll rules:

Lowest of first three rolls for things the character is skilled at doing.
Median of first three rolls for things the character is "capable" at.
Highest of first three rolls for things the character is utterly shit at.

You have to "beat" your stats (which for now are hidden by popular demand, this may change) so low rolls are good.

Cont post explained:If there is a post marked at the end with "cont" its becouse your QM is lazy, and can't type fast - or becouse he wants to give you the option to jump into the current events, or offer opinions, if none are offered he'll continue as normal

Disclamer in regards to Re:Spelling: I suck at spelling big time, if anyone actually cares its due to the fact I suffer from Dysgraphia, its the primary reason I got into RP in the first place, trying to practice my spelling. Its not about "don't complain about it!" but rather: "If you've got the time and want to proof read it great! But lets not clog the thread with it, send it to my E-mail! (Yes I do use a spellchecker)

You're already pushing yourself through the ever thickening crowds of the schola mess-halls, a few moments ago you lost sight of Angelina, it was to be expected however in this billowing crowd, still - while elbowing your way through the queue for the sole sake of not getting crushed you are greeted by a familiar sign hanging from the roof before the corridors split once again and you are channeled into one of them by the pure force of the people around you,

Todays menu: "Scrambled Makriln Eggs with Fried Samtik"

Remain cautiously optimistic. These stange, non-paste foods have been okay so far.

I'm surprised Otto hasn't had digestion issues since getting non-paste food to be honest. I guess even dilapidated Imperium science can prevent that though.

Haven't you heard? The Mechanicus found the STC for paste that doesn't cause digestion problems. It's been a major factor in the Imperium's continued survival.

The ever increasing pressure of the crowd suddenly releases as the crowd spills into the larger dinning hall like a great flood spilling out of a drainage pipe, before you spreads a .. slightly different hall then the one you had breakfast in - like you suspected it seems the entire mess hall is actually several separate rooms parted in sections to allow more efficient feeding - its honestly rather interesting that planet born would be able to make a system like this - you suspect its the work of a voidborn as you elbow your way forward, unhindered by your short status, soon however - forced that way by the narrowing path between the food stations and servitors rather then the well meaning of the people - you are all forming a neat row towards the first station, you grab your plate as it is thrust at you by a servitor and continue down towards the feed stations

>>26545853
You peer with narrowed eyes at the food as its being served to the people before you - what is not being flooded onto the plate by pipes from lumbering machines is quickly placed there by multi-limbed servitors - nobody seems to be scraping anything off but "samtik" sounds odd, sort off slithering and reminds you of a index port of a overcooked plasma cooler chamber.. nasty, still you can do little but accept the food as its literally forced upon your plate, still - what's with the "scrambled eggs?" - eggs is that solid stone thing your uncle used to carry in his belt, he'd use it to knock down scrubs from the walls when they gathered outside an old ventilation shaft - "my egg shaped hammer" he'd call it.. are they serving food scrambled with an egg? You are reluctant as you exit the queue, still - the food so far have been worth it but as you look over your plate its seems very.. solid - there are red cushy looking things, with some white gruff with a yellow center

Looking around you see nobody you recognize.

You give the area a quick scan, hoping you'll notice somebody you are at least passingly familiar with, feeling a bit silly as you stand there slowly looking from right to left you notice a.. familiar face - at first you snarl at it, its lak - the double heretic, but he's sitting at the corner of a bench - not "alone" but not really conversing with those sitting a few seats away from him.. still as you look closer he seems a bit off - he's not got that superior look on his face - his shoulder are slumped.. what's up with him..?

You continue to look around but don't really find anyone else you seem to recall - but there are a few somewhat empty tables in the back - or you could sit down among people, alternatively you could go and see what is up with the double heretic.

Well apparently we didn't see Angelina after all, so I'm not sure that's justifiable!

Anyway, look for some people that look reasonably interesting and not like heretics (at least not sour and unfriendly ones) and sit down with them, then proceed to find out more about them - we must learn more about people, heretics or no, to be effective commissars after all.
>>
>>26546108
Fuck. It's probably a bad idea, but I think it's possible that we can make peace with him.

Approach non-theateningly, ask if we can sit with him. Promise we'll be nice.

You give up a sight, guess you'd best go look whats up with that double heretic, he looks like someone that sold all his sacred oil and lost the money - perhaps he's sad about being such a bastard. Navigating through the crowd and the various tables you approch his position, paying extra attention to avoid losing your food among the various people bustling around, one almost manges to knock you down when he suddenly stands up, almost like home you muse with a inward smirk. - Noting that there is plently of space across from him Lak you move towards him while ytrying to give off your most non-thretening smile you can muster. Letting lose a "harkl" as you stand on the other side of the table.

"Mind if I sit down? - I won't toss mud at you as long as you don't do something stupid" - narrowing your eyes at the last remark.

He looks up at you - surpise painted across his face "Oh, your that girl aren't you? - Good afternoon, you've meet my brother Lakarin before right? Heard about the mud "incident", I told him to lay off a bit - hope he did not cause to much of trouble..?" he gives a very troubled smile a this while gesturing towards the place across from him "And please, sit - its all fine."

"You look down, did he pick on you too? Cause I can give him more mud if you want." you state while sitting down across him, bringing your newfound food up to bare, spork in hand you tentatively give the tiny cushiony-frilly covered red thing a few jabs testing its solid.. very solid consistency, your actually unsure how your suppose to get your spork into this.. its not flowing over it at all.. furrowing your brow at the odd planet food you begin to inspect the more mushy yellow-white substance that while oddly spongy at least flows over your spork when you dig it in.

"Oh, no - its just, he's a bit irritated is all, please don't mind it - ever since we left home he's been worried about Raltin, our older brother - he was suppose to meet us on the ship but never came, he's a full fledged Commissar cadet already, I keep telling him he's obviously just busy but Lak won't have any o- Um, are you alright..?"

"Oh yeah. Planet food is just very strange, making sure there is nothing odd in it - also you said Commissar..? I keep reading about them in these documents" - to which you pat your jacket - and more importantly the hard data-slate hidden in your pocket "Don't quite get it - they are called "political officers revered through the imperium as beacons of hope for Guardsmen" you furrow your brow, underlining your somewhat lack of understanding on the subject as you scoop up a tiny amount of the yellow-white stuff to taste.. you lick it first, and find much like your spork gave away its rather mushy in consistency.. but the taste.. its very reminiscent of original white paste but its got this.. odd taste you can't place, its very well pronounced and makes your mouth water slightly... its a distinct flavor you've never really had.. it carries the flavor under it very smoothly and seem to enchant it - it goes with out saying you've soon begin your quest in gorging this new substance - indeed, planet food is still very good.

"Well, its sort of like that I guess? - Also, you can eat the Fried fish too, just cut into it.." he says, gesturing at his own red "samtik" - why call it fish however..? As you look it over however its revealed how he's sliced tiny chucks out of it with his spork - catching on quickly you continue in a similar manner observing how he does it once before repeating the motion. He continues the conversation as the two of you slowly part the samtik into tiny pieces "Lak always looked up to him - he's honestly always giving me trouble - we're twins, but I am the older one" you give him a glare at this before asking straight out: "What is a twin, everyone keeps not telling me - its very annoying, I can't find anything in my books either aside from "Twin-exhaust pipes" there is a slight silence as his brows are raised before he asks: "You're from a ship aren't you?

There is a slight silence before you respond "You better not be lying to me!" Waving your spork at him.

"I swear to it - its nothing strange" he says, to which you are inclined to believe for now.. there are more important things at stake for now - but you're sure checking if his story holds up in the archives later.. for now this "fish" thing is of greater concern. "Regardless, name's Schulte, by the way - please use it instead of "girl" - "And - you inject before he can respond - tell me about this "fish" thing - how is that related to our food?" He seems to be chewing on the red stuff leaving him silent for a moment before he leans back in the chair and continues: "Its what the food is made off, fish comes from the ocean on planets - its, like a lot of water I guess?" .. it seems your food is made out of water..? How truly curious... you impale on of the chunks on your spork - following your companions example and stuff it into your mouth. So.. fuzzy, you note while moving it around your mouth for a few moment, it seems the other side of it is just a skin of some sort as it slowly begins to split into your mouth - revealing a tarter inside, you chew it slightly, forced to close your eyes for a moment savoring the rich flavor.

Yes, planet food is alright.

"Emperor guide your path" he respond as you being to trud away towards the exit, handing your plate on the way out to one of the many lumbering servitors that flank its sides with their mechanical arms reaching for the sky like branches as they process the various plates they are handed.
The exit is easy enough, its less of a crushing crowd as you seem to have left at a good time, still the corridor is soon flooded properly as you enter into the main enter/exit area - al bit in a different section, parted by a chest-high wall.

Once outside your lungs are filled with that odd "outside" air again - its not unpleasant but you prefer the indoor one, it did not tickle your nose as much, still, if the large chrono hanging on the wall on the tall building to your left is true your next lesson - which a quick check on your slate confirms - won't start until fifteen minutes, you've got some time before you're bound for the "military staging area.. which apparently if this slate is right is further outside the area of the schola - down the Western gate, and following a small path.

"mud" with small buildings sticking out - it was behind the schola from where you saw it from up above so you never saw it before... far down you see deep trenches in the ground, people running and the wind seems to carry the sound of foot trodding towards you...

Continuing down the path you are greeted by the sound of voices screaming, low tremors seem to shake the ground.. what is this place?
You continue downwards the increasingly rocky road, dirt soon billowing around you in clouds as the black-material path is taken over by a harsher dirt path, shrinking in size and growing more and more rocky, looking up into the sky you notice how the sun have already begun to set.. the lowering of the sun almost seem symbolic as you walk closer and closer to the dirt filled field - its not long however until you notice a large white beam have been laid across the road - you saw it from a distance truthfully but only up close do you see its intended purpose as several rough looking adults seem posted around it, two piles of what looks like pillows with.. odd metal wires on top stand on either side where a large metal rod seems to be resting against them...

"Oi, you there, first year - Commissar Rim have you down by E-block, that way!" - one of the men points at you, while the other seems to lift the large white beam to allow a few students past - no doubt including you. "How did you know I wa-" you being but are shut down by him replying "White mark on your jacket arm - now hurry, I ain't got all day, E-block, hundred paces that way" - he points towards the side, and a large collection of.. ditches and hills - and silvery things you can't make out from the distance. Deciding you'd best hurry before the adults gets angry for you being tardy you continue down the path towards the supposed "E-block" sure enough, after a minute of observing the brown alien terrain around you a group of familiar faces seems gathered - in particular you notice Angelina, and.. nikkobar and his oafs, your class seems gathered.

As you approach you give out a quick shout "Hey, Angelina - what's up" to which she turns around with a "Oh, hello shulte - the teacher is coming back soon, hurry in-line!"

"I just talked to Laks twin brother. He's like Lak but also not. We could call him not-Lak I guess. He doesn't seem that bad. What's going on here?" you state, while leaning on your heals and craning your neck trying to watch above the crowd casually. "Nothing much, a teacher showed up and told us to wait.. no clue what we are doing yet, but we'll see no doubt" Angelina says with a dismissive tone seemingly at the moment somewhat preoccupied with sorting out her jacket "It's always like this isn't it? Wait here, stand there - its like we are cattle sometimes.."

"Really?" you remark "It was always like this on the ships.. not being efficient and where you are suppose to be makes the emperor sad!" you response with an affirmative nod - remembering your Aunts favorite saying when-ever you'd ask to get to stay up a bit more to read, or skip a menial task in favor of something fun. She looks at you with a raised eyebrow but then shrugs and smiles "Well at least you tried to talk to them - that is good" she says "Yes, I tried to take your advice to make peace with Lak and his twin, his brother is not that bad.. guess if Lak says sorry I'll forgive him"

"That's good - you ne-" you never got to hear what she wanted to say as the crowd suddenly snaps to attention as a car.. or well - it sort off looks like a car from the ships but, bigger - and more bulky, and it seem parted in several sections or something - a tower or something standing on top of it. Still, its fast as it slides to a halt in front of you - its rear suddenly opening only moments later, just like the back of the ship that came to get you from the voidship.. several large men steps out - clad like the rough looking men from before in uniforms - they reminded you of the Void-Guard but seemed.. more .. sturdier, and dirty - their heads hidden behind their helmets visors, lead by a man with a red cap.

"I am Commissar Rim, welcome to your first Practical."

"Todays lesson was suppose to be active dueling - the art of fighting one-and-another with light single hand based weaponry, a good way for training new recruits." - he begins pacing back and fort as he takes in the crowd before him "This lesson however, is in my mind to weak - training you to fight a single regular opponent is pointless, the enemies of the Imperium is numberless, and we are always undermanned and outstaffed - with only our guts and the emperors light keeping us safe!" - the last sentence he literally screams out as he grasp his fists before him, his voice seems to cut to your very core, giving you slight shivers as he continues: "Therefore today, you will partake in a much harsher training - you will partake in a battle arena - this (he gestures out towards the trench-filled fields) battle arena"

The oafs behind him quietly seem to be emptying out their bags on a hastily folded out table, small black guns.. you remember seeing one before, on the ship.. you played Guardsmen and Xeno's enough to know what a gun was.. seen enough vids to know what they do...
"These are Nil-II-Pattern Las Pistol, a sturdy weapon of the imperium, these are training guns - their output not enough to break bone, and certainly not enough to kill with regular shots on an armored foe, still - they sting, and more importantly - they look just like the real thing, feels just like the real thing."
A tremor seems to be let lose among the crowd as he mentions they are un-lethal, a collective held breath let lose in relief.
"Yes, these guns are not lethal - therefore, we've put a MK III Pattern Las pistol among them, there are exactly seventy guns - and forty of you, one of you might get the gun, one of you might not - todays lesson is simple: Eliminate everyone else, survive until the lesson is over.. "
"Now since most of you have never seen a real weapon, I've arranged a demonstration..."

He gestures at his companions, two which rushes off to the vehicle..

Our experience playing G&X should serve us well in this lesson. First thing is to learn the weapon. find somewhere out of the way, and practice firing. We could always work with Angelina to begin with, after all, survival is easier when there is someone watching your back. Then, eventually, we can have an honourable duel, assuming we make it that far.

Moments later they exit again, dragging a .. man between them - his head covered from sight by a brown bag, the man made no attempt to escape his bond as he was forced on the ground in front of you, the two oafs quickly goes to work on putting him in a kneeling position, facing away from the "Commissar" and the rest of you - towards the ditches "This man was found wanting in the service of the emperor, and by forsaking his post to fornicate with his own personal interest left us all in peril - as such he's sentenced to death, as his continual existence is an affront to us all" - and at this, the man unbuckles his holster - you notice the heavy black item inside as it slides into the air, and comes to rest next to his face - a long crude barrel, a sinister looking skull on its side glaring back at you from between the wings of an aquila

"By the power vested in me, in the name of the Imperium - I hereby find you wanting before emperor gaze, for cowardess in the line of duty I sentence you to death" he states, each word seemingly carried by the wounds around him as he lowers the gun, pressing it against the mans neck, hidden behind the brown bag. He nods to the burly men and they drag it off, revealing the face of a young man, tears tricking down his face as he looks onto the ground with hollow eyes, he could not have been much more then fourteen you panic to yourself before his face suddenly deforms, a sickening "crack" goes of as the Commissar finger tightens around his trigger, his head seems to burst before you, as all life fades from his flesh, the man collapsing into a pile as a pink fluid begins to flow out from what remains of his mouth - the upper part blasted away by the beam of light, that seemed to pass as soon as it came, leaving only a straight hole from neck to face - both his eyeballs are still there, one have popped, its substance running out next to the fluid - the other fared better, resting, looking at you, with a cold intense gaze

The smell is what hits you next, as the chared flesh of the boys former face hits you full force, it makes your eyes water from the force of it, "Take him away" you hear the man in the red cap state calmely, and the two men that came for him hoists up his body, taking no heed to the slow trickle of blood and brain matter flowing out from the remains of his face, as the substance seems to get caught on his teeth, overflowing slightly before rushing down his chest, and now - the man carrying him over his shoulder's back - you notice one of them crushing the remaining eye under foot as he stomps away through the puddle of gore left behind, you can't help but notice how the corpse, for you can't think of it as anything else.. life having left it already seem to swing from time to time as it bobs away, each motion seems to bring about a new wave of gore from his flesh, the air stinks of it now - burnt meat, gore left to rot.

"This, is the tool I will give you" - the teacher states with a slight smile, "Try not to kill to many of yourselfs, I'd have nobody to watch die tomorow, now get to the table and choise wisely"

Pushed forward by the crowd moving, rather then by your own will you find yourself crossing the small space of brown earth between you and the table.. the guns are already being picked up one by one by weary, or sometimes eager hands all around you... you'd best take one quickly..

You grasp at one of the guns, as you hear the commissar chatter in the background - for some reason however you can't seem to quite make it out, sound in general seems.. lost on you for a moment as all you can seem to think off is the smell of burnt meat, the same smell you'd find inside a burned out ventilation shaft, it seemed to get to you, as the group begins moving - your legs follow as you cradle the black metal piece in your hands but your mind seems vacant - its odd really, you try to focus but the eyes.. the single eye on the ground, crushed by a boot seems to re emerge inside your mind, over, and over again - your thoughts seem to slow to a crawl, as if the pink substance from before had somehow gotten inside your own brain, clogging it down... your barely aware of the Commissar suddenly announcing you are to split, and run in separate directions.

It takes one of the burly men jabbing at you with a arm for you to suddenly sprint into action.

And you sprint..
Sprint..
sprint.

Before long you simply stumble into a hole, rather by mistake then any design on your part - it hurts, a bit, but its not to bad - that's when your bowels suddenly give in, and you feel yourself hurling over the brown parched ground, your lunch comes up first, and just when you think its all over the smell hits you and another wave of pure bile forces its way up your throat, you aren't sure, when you finely manage to pull yourself together how long you've hurled for, but its been long enough to manage to coat your own jacket in it... but right now, you don't quite seem to care, as you notice the black weapon resting next to you - discarded on the ground.

"Fight to the death"

You grasp at it with trembling fingers...

The black mass of your weapon felt heavy in your hand, not just its pure weight but the way it seemed to press into your hand securing itself in your grip like a toddler grasping for its mother it felt almost sickening holding it, this one could be the one - a tool of death capable of unloading ... untold destruction. You tasted the word, death, the end - you'd seen a man die before, your uncles friend, he had been a old gray man you barely remember. Still, cutting someone down? Could you do it? Inside your hiding spot you suddenly heard the teacher blow his whistle and your mouth suddenly fills up with bile.

Its time.

Today someone might die, seated there inside the small hole you felt more exposed then you'd ever felt in your entire life the urge to gag increased when you heard that sickening sound again, "crack" - the sound of a las-gun going off, a sound that seemed to echo for just a second to long, dragging your legs inwards you close your arms around them, huddling together on the ever darkening soil, the sun slowly setting shrouding the world in a gray color stealing mist.

Another crack,

You felt tears boiling up, here you where - alone, on a planet far away from your uncle and aunt expected to fight to the death...

You grasp harder around the black weapon, squishing it into your flesh as you try and calm yourself - you begin to count the seven ways of cleaning a Referal engine block, something you've done several times to help your uncle out in his work, it does not really help however - every time you hear a crack of those horrid weapon you feel your bowels shift, you keep imagining it happening to everyone, yourself, Angelina, your aunt, uncle - friends. You had been in fights before.. but shooting someone, ending the life of another person.. your not sure if you even could ... kill.. nikkobar, let alone someone you'd never meet, yet this weapon in your hand might be able to.. or you might run into someone that could be able to.

Still, you press on - your mind tells you to work, do something about your current situation - so that's why you push yourself to your feet, despite the sinking feeling in your chest - looking above the corner of the ditch your in, outside the world seem still.. but still you hear the sound of Las guns going off all around now - you can't see them however.. where they in ditches like your own? - Peering at either side of you, it did seem to continue in both directions like a winding corridor, but both sides have sharp turns for some reason, cutting your vision down... your at a loss for what to do.

You sink down along the wall again, supporting yourself against it for just a moment, you almost feel like crying but, this was a lesson, and so you'd at least try it right..? As such you begin walking towards the left, at first a hand on the wall for support but soon it falls down, resting on your side, as you stumble forward, the dirt getting in your nose as you hear a distant thundering sound, far away at first but soon it grows louder, a grumbling sound of the trench shaking, you feel your entire body rumbling along with it.. what in the name of the emperor was that? Looking above you can't seem to see anything but the ever darkening sky, but the world is still shaking.. you'd best hurry away from here you muse and being to double time it, turning around the first corner - being rewarded with a similar corridor when it suddenly strikes you:

"What is someone is behind the turns, waiting for you?"

More carefully you approach the next one, peering around it you are greeted with the sight of a .. person, he's clad in the same clothing you've got - and appears to be looking out of the trench standing on a pair of boxes, leaving him exposed, you can't see the persons face, but.. he can't see you either at the moment. In Character, Schulte would probably take aim at the person and call to them. Pulling the trigger would be a 'flinching reflex' if the person did something to startle her....

If it were a film, that would be the time when A) it was Angelina, B) she gets an accidental Headshot, and C) It turns out we had the real gun...
But this is not a film, thusly all three of those possibilities are highly unlikely...

You slide back behind cover, keeping your gun in one hand, grasping onto it like glue, it was a horrid weapon.. but for now it was your only protection, it was quite strange to think like that to be honest.. still.. you quickly weight your options, you could just shoot him.. but the idea still left you feeling a bit queasy.. honestly, who'd like shooting someone? - No, perhaps you could team up instead? You'd not mind some help keeping Nikkobar off your behind if he actually did show up, still odds are he'd react hostile.. you'd seen scared people do that before, getting the jump on him would get the whole ordeal in your favor - there was this one holo you watched of someone.. you think, that did something like that - it was all a long time ago..

You slide around the corner and level the gun, trying in-vain to stop it from shaking to much before deciding to steady it with two hands "Hey, you!" you call out to the boy, whom quickly turn around to look at you, he's not familiar, a high-cheek boned face, with a few pimples around his mouth - and mouse-brown hair cut short much like your own, he narrows his eyes at you before quickly raising his own gun - pointing it at you! Seconding this. Try to look convincing, like a ship's officer.
>>
>>26549861
Might as well try something like this.

"If I wanted to shoot you I would have done that already. I'm not planning on hurting you. What I want is a partner. We work together, watch each other's backs, and keep each other safe. We should be a lot safer and be able to deal with anyone who is working alone. What do you say to that?" you stand with your chest puffed out, trying to give a air of authority, you remember seeing a proper explorator - one of the senior one of the Enginseer Prime of your ship, you tried to emulate his feeling, your not quite sure how well you pulled it off however - as indeed, your not even augmented as he was, still you await the response, sweat beginning to pour down your neck as you have a sudden urge to scratch it, but try to resist it, not taking your eyes off the other person for a moment.

"Well" he states after a long while, looking towards you... "This is a competition, and I ain't angering the Teacher by teaming up!" bringing his gun to bear at you, ready to pull it off!

>Roll for initiative! Give me a 1d100.

You press the trigger of your weapon, and it goes off - just as you feel a blinding pain in your leg, collapsing down on the ground you are barely aware of the boy on the boxes falling on the ground in a pile, leaving you alone on the ground, grasping at your leg - the boys gun had hit your knee head on, the pain coursing through you with every heartbeat - when the teacher said they packed a sting he was not lying, tears rolling down your cheeks as you howl in agony you try and sooth the pain, but touching it only makes it worse - for a moment, you fear the knee is gone or something equally horrying, but it seems there is no blood coming from you, but moving seems almost impossible, every attempt you do at sending the urge to move down your leg is meet by sourging head-splitting pain.

Your vision is already getting groggy, but what are you suppose to do now? Your on your back in the mud, with nowhere to go.. at least the boy seemed to have taken your blast as well - he was not moving, but his clothing seemed intact as far as you where concerend... You need to do something stat, before someone finds you like this.

>And with that, Commmissar quest X comes to an end for this evening, thank you all for partaking in this quest tonight, special thanks again to our drawfriend for his sketches!

>Its now 02:18 GMT+1 and our time is at and end, we did push a bit longer then usual however

>Like always I'll be around for a few minutes while I wind down for bed, answering questions about Commissar quest and life in general.

>Was a bit overwhelmed at the responses tonight, was great seeing you all post.

>Been contemplating running tomorow as I've got the day off.

>Also, been thinking of doing a proper talent tree for Commissar Quest - yay/nay?

>Sage is great, to let the thread drop of the board, now that we are not running.

>Proper talent tree

Yes, yes, and oh god please yes.
>>
>>26550152
Dammit Otto, get up , grab his pistol and start blasting shit.

Oh wait, its over.

Balls.
>>
>>26550186
talent tree? oh hell yes

Also any chance on gaining perks for spectacular things schulte does?
>>
>>26550186

another thread tommorow would be nice, though be careful not to either burn yourself out or deplete any plots/plans you may have prepared.

Talent tree falls down to if you feel that you need one, and that you can do a good one. Too many things use them incorrectly with stupid progression... and I mean 'tier 2 unlock is better than most tier 5 ones' kind of bad...
>>
>>26550152
Aw nuts.
All for the best though. We were clearly not in a good state of mind.
I just worry about somebody we know getting killed.
>>26550186
I'd be very interested in a talent tree. Not sure I'll like it, but I'm interested for sure.

Looking forward to seeing what prevents you from running next Saturday <3
>>
>>26550186
Voting yes for talent tree. A nice mechanic, should be very useful to us.
>>
>>26550186
I'll follow whenever it is, since you're in my timezone (the number of quests I can't interact with because they're on at night is beyond count). A talent-tree would be interesting, but I'm not sure how we'd earn said talents yet, so until we know more about that I can't tell for sure how nice a talent-tree would be.

Thanks for running!

The basic idea would being things have it parted into "Shooty" "Melee" "Commisary" - with better names, but it would be the basics, Shooty would contain things that improve our shooting - example might be at low ranks being able to add 10 to your shoot rolls, and at max being able to reroll a failed attempt - Melee would be similar, and would allow you to weild more exotic, perhaps teach you cool tricks with a blade - Commissary would cover oral things, speeches - rousing the rabble, being a political officer, which would have things like inspire and heroic pressence perhaps - later they'll diverge into diffrent paths, specic shooty, melee and inspire/terror paths in the Commissar path.

Not sure yet, might be cool - might not be?

>>26550244
What I am worried about, I'll sleep on it!

>>26550241
Possible, I'd probably base it around stuff from the Warhammer 40k rulebooks - similar traits etc.

>>26550276
Thor be damned!

>>26550312
The idea you've got "training point" you lot get to use during weeks lectures - was thinking of using strategic time at the end of threads to let you decide what you want to practice untill next thread primary.

>>26550186
maybe if your implementing a skill tree implement an xp system?
>>
>>26550337
Yes, either that or pure XP from encounters 'ala Warhammer RPG style, could also work.
>>
>>26550336
Sounds interesting, but I'm thinking everyone would max out that Commissar tree as fast as possible with a token point or two in Guns or whatever so Otto can wield a weapon without hitting herself. Not sure how you'd prevent that, really.
>>
Personally, I prefer fluid trees. It allows for a greater degree of customisation, albeit at the cost of linear progression...

Then again, I created a 5 page concept diagram for a 'simple' base construction chart... so I may not be the best person for 'simple', 'quick' or 'easy'...
>>
>>26550424
Simple, your in a war zone - and you won't always have a grunt or two to stop the bullets, if you are expected to lead from the front, you'd better know how to handle yourself.

Simple terms: I'd deal with it the same way I do if it was DnD, some stuff in the story will catter to your skills, others.. not so much. Being able to do pretty speeches won't help when behind enemy lines and tyranids are barreling down on you.
>>
>>26550443
I can see that, sadly I doubt my skills for creating a compelling fluid tree. Regardless, I'll be sure to send you that sketch, after sleep.
>>
>>26550458

alternatively, you could always have cross-tree abilities, such as you want the grunts to shoot more accurately? how can you do that if you can't even hit the broadside of a barn?
Want to fire your gun in melee? how can you do that if you can't block or parry?
>>
>>26550518
Ah, yes - that might be a good way to make people contemplate splicing into diffrent paths yes.

Personally think we should go melee, if the earlier threads taught me anything, its that Otto belongs in the fray.
