Predator Quest: Episode 43

You are Three-Claw, a Yautja hunter of the Cloud Viper clan. You have been tasked by your clan Matriarch to investigate breaches of forbidden knowledge by clan Weyland on the planet Fey'lenn, or Pandora, as it is known in the human tongue.

You, Sharp-Strike, and Quick-Shadow stand with your backs to the wall. Further down the circular corridor is the warden's chamber, where Sword-Dancer should be. There are two guards watching over the entrance. They're wearing heavy armor and sporting plasma casters. You'll need to dispatch them if you want to get inside.

Do you:

A. Create a distraction and see if you can lure one of them over.
B. Rush them and take them head on.
C. Approach them with your hands up and ask to see Sword-Dancer.
>>
>>26555177
A.

We should have had Ashen-Blade and Burning-Scythe enter the complex. Death comes for us, and I fear we won't be able to defeat it.

You activate the holo-emitter on your mask and project an injured warrior down on one knee, slowly walking out and leaning against the wall. One guard extends his claws and steps forward. You wait as he comes closer, and quickly take him down with your combi-stick. Quick-Shadow strips him of his mask and plasma caster, dashes out from around the corner, and puts several shots into the chest of the lone remaining guard.

Together, you break through the door and enter the office. You see Sword-Dancer, a regally dressed female, sitting calmly at her desk. She seems to be directing what's left of her guards.

She looks up, and does not seem perturbed to see you. Quick-Shadow rushes over to her trophy rack, pries it open, and begins to rummage inside. You train your plasma-caster at Sword-Dancer.

"Found it," he tells you, lifting up his spear gun. He ejects the clip and extracts one of the spears. He stashes it in his pocket, and reloads the gun.

"Oh don't tell me it was in there all along," Sword-Dancer mutters in exasperation. She turns to Quick-Shadow. "What? You're not going to thank me for keeping you alive for so long? Without me, you'd be a corpse by now."

"Right. Thank you for the daily beatings. I appreciate it," Quick-Shadow quips. He peers at a console along the far wall, and turns to you. "I'm going to see if I can access the blueprints of this place and find us a way out. Don't trust her. She's a power hungry traitor, just like the others."

Sword-Dancer turns to you. "You know they'll kill us all. They're already at the second cell block. It's only a matter of time. But we can help each other. Why don't you hear me out."

Do you:

A. Agree to hear her proposal.
B. Stay silent, and keep the targeting beam on her.

You quickly blink your plasma caster's targeting beam, to remind her it's there, and tell her, "Speak. Make it quick."

"I have a shuttle. It's on the roof, and hidden from sight by the façade of a comm dome. I also have a private lift right behind this office."

"Then why are you still here?" You ask her.

"Well, one, I managed to restore the power to the lift just as you entered, and two, the roof is crawling with Ebon-Claw's lackeys. As you can see, my resources are running thin. Help me clear the roof and I can get us all out on the shuttle. I should also remind you that the shuttle is keyed to my biometrics; only I can fly it. What do you say?"

Do you:

A. Ask Ashen-Blade to scan the roof and see if there is indeed a shuttle there.
B. Ask her how you can trust her not to fly off by herself after you clear the roof.
C. Tell her you'll think about it.
D. Agree to the proposal, and tell her to get moving, now.

Ask Quick-Shadow what Sword-Dancer's part in the coup against their Matriarch was?
>>
>>26555656
>B. Ask her how you can trust her not to fly off by herself after you clear the roof.

Don't contact Ashen-Blade. We don't want her to know we have allies outside of the complex.

Unless we can contact him secretly. If that is possible, add A as well.
>>
>>26555716
>>26555681
>>26555711

>>B.

"And how can we trust you not to take off alone, when we're distracted with fighting Ebon-Claw's warriors?"

She clicks with exasperation. "Because I'll need someone to man the gun turrets. It's a military shuttle."

You turn to Quick-Shadow. "So what's her part in the coup?"

"She used her position as a trusted aide to pilfer every single piece of security data about the palace, including security codes, blue prints, patrol schedules, and comm relays, and gave it all to Death-Gifter on a silver platter. If it werent' for her, the palace could have held out for ages.

A. Ask Ashen-Blade to scan the roof and see if there is indeed a shuttle there.
B. Tell her you'll think about it.
C. Agree to the proposal, and tell her to get moving, now.

>>A. Ask Ashen-Blade to scan the roof and see if there is indeed a shuttle there.

You tell Sharp-Strike to keep an eye on Sword-Dancer, "...and vaporize her head, if she even looks at you funny." You exit the office for a moment so she can't hear, and open a comm link with Ashen-Blade.

You give him a short summary of Sword-Dancer's plan. "Look on the roof. Do you see the shuttle?"

"I see the comm dome. Not sure what's underneath it. One moment, let me do a deep scan of it with my optics."

You wait a short moment for his response. "Got it. Yes, there is a craft under the dome, but it's a small sports shuttle. Only holds one pilot, no more."

You curse.

"Any luck on finding us a way out?"

"Steel-Arrow thinks he's on to something. He's checking it out now but we'll need to give him time. It's a .... one moment. Something's coming in. It's Death-Gifter's personal shuttle. He's going to land on the roof! That could be your escape route."

"Right," you tell him.

You return to the office and turn to Quick-Shadow. "Anything?"

"According to these blueprints there's an underground waste disposal tunnel that runs all way to the edge of the city, but I'll need more time to get the details.

You turn to face Sword-Dancer. She looks at you expectantly. "No time for that, hunter. The enemy is almost here. Decide quickly."

Do you:

A: Confront her and tell her you know that her shuttle only has room for one - the pilot.
B. Tell her you'll pass, and figure out your own escape plan.
C. Tell her you'll cooperate, and for her to activate the lift.
>>
>>26556035
confront her. if she dissembles, shoot her. take the waste exit
>>
>>26556035
>C. Tell her you'll cooperate, and for her to activate the lift.

Time is, indeed, of the essence.
>>
>>26556035
C with a twist. It's obvious now that she intends to sell us to death-gifter on the roof so let's see if we can use the lift to get at least a few stories up, then waste sword-dancer, seed the elevator with drone mines and send it up to gift them death.
>>
>>26556035
Tough choice.
>>
>>26556035
D. Kill Sword-Dancer and take the tunnel.
>>
>>26556035

>>
>>26556035

He hasn't shown himself yet.

>>
Looks like A/B won. OP probably started writing though.
>>
Alright, so we kill Sword-Bitch, take the tunnel and contact Ashen-Blade telling him to get us extraction. Not sure if they can get a ship.

This is not a vote, just a discussion.
>>
>>26556092
>>C. Tell her you'll cooperate, and for her to activate the lift.

You turn to her. "Fine. Activate the lift."

You say to Quick-Shadow, "We're leaving, now."

He hurries over to you and whispers, "You're not actually thinking of trusting her, are you? You know she's just going to leave us for dead."

You glance at Sword-Dancer. She places her palm against the back wall and a door slides open, revealing a lift. She steps in.

You pat Quick-Shadow on the back. "I know. You'll just have to trust me," and walk into the lift.

He grunts, but follows.

Sword-Dancer presses a button, and the lift begins to move. "No stops," she tells you. "All the way to the top."

"This is stupid," Quick-Shadow mutters. "We go up, the door opens, they shoot us dead."

Sword-Dancer reaches up and removes one of the panels covering the roof. She reaches within and pulls out a pair of heavy plasma pistols, one in each hand. "Not if we shoot them first," she tells you.

Suddenly, you hear Steel-Arrow's voice over your comms. "Right. I found a way out. There's a waste disposal tunnel that connects the prison to a facility on the edge of the city. You should be able to access it from the lower levels."

Do you:

A. Tell him you've got another plan, and continue riding the lift up.
B. Hit the stop button and reverse the lift.

>>
Kill her quick. Don't want her to get a shot off and hit our friends.
>>
>>26556380
>>B. Hit the stop button and reverse the lift.

"Change of plans," you tell your comrades, and hit the stop button. There's no response. You hit it again. Nothing.

Sword-Dancer raises a finger. "I told you, no stops. It's keyed to my biometrics. Only I can control it."

Do you:

A. Tell her you've found a better way out - a waste disposal tunnel. It'll be much safer than going to the roof.

B. Threaten to shoot her if she doesn't stop the lift.

C. Shoot her, and use her finger to stop and reverse the lift.

God damnit I told you guys not to enter the elevator.

>>26556495

>>26556522

>>

>>
>>26556480
>>B. Threaten to shoot her

You paint her head with your targeting beam. "Do it. Go back down, or I'll vaporize your head," you tell her.

"Fine, but you do realize Ebon-Claw has probably reached my office by now? He's likely to have have discovered the lift by now and is attempting to scuttle it."

Seeing no reaction from you, she clicks in frustration, and reaches over to hit the stop button.

The lift jolts violently. Suddenly, she lashes out with her elbow and catches you square in the jaw. You loose a bolt from your plasma caster, which sails over her shoulder and into the lift wall.

She lashes out and whips Sharp-Strike with her plasma pistol and slams her back into Quick-Shadow. She is exceptionally strong, even for a female.

The lift is small, and is already crowded with the four of you. There is very little room to move, which you're thankful for, since it makes it much more difficult for her to aim and level her large pistols.

She whips out with her leg and buries a knee in your pelvis. You grunt in pain.

Do you:

A. Rush forward and attempt to wrest control of her pistols.
B. Extend your claws and attempt to stab at her abdomen.
C. Put your arms around her midsection and attempt to grab her waist.
>>
>>26556609
>A. Rush forward and attempt to wrest control of her pistols.

You rush forward, and place both hands on her left pistol, and press down with all your weight. Sharp-Strike, following your lead, wrestles for control of her other pistol. Quick-Shadow leaps onto her back, but is violently thrown backwards from a rear head butt.

Even with two hands, you are having trouble overpowering her single arm.

Do you:

A. Attempt to twist her wrist and force her to let go. (DC: Hard)

You strain your thumb and manage to pop the switch which ejects the power pack from the pistol with a hiss.

Quick-Shadow once again leaps onto her back and begins to pummel her with his fist.

She grunts, and twists her torso hard, slamming Quick-Shadow against the wall. You take this chance to rush forward and kick her hard in the knee. She slumps forward and howls in pain. She drops her disabled pistol and swings her fist at you. You dodge, and her fist slams into the lift's control panel.

You feel the lift descending.

Sharp-Strike is still wrestling with her remaining pistol.

Quick-Shadow gets up once more and wraps his arms around her waist, holding her steady. You launch a kick at her exposed abdomen, but she blocks it.

Suddenly, the lift reaches bottom, and the door hisses open. You turn your head to see Ebon-Claw and five of his warriors busy rummaging through Sword-Dancer's office.

You gesture at the fleeting Ebon-Claw. "Take him down!"

Both you and Sharp-Strike fire a stream of plasma bolts at his back.

Ebon-Claw turns, sneers, and shouts, "Die!"

He whips out a device and begins to press it frantically, to no effect.

Suddenly, he crumples backwards as one of Quick-Shadow's large calibre spears slam into his chest.

His remaining warriors, disheartened, begins to retreat. The three of you rush out of the lift, into the room, and with some effort, take them down.

You walk over to Ebon-Claw. He's still breathing, despite a gaping hole in his chest.

He looks at you. "Impossible," he whispers.

You lean down and stare into his eyes.

"So what was the plan? Kill Quick-Shadow? Take down Sword-Dancer? So Death-Gifter can take power and hide your conspiracies? Is that it?"

He looks at you, coughs weakly, and whispers, "War... war is coming."

He lifts his arm and attempts to reach his wrist computer. You quickly stamp your foot down and stop his attempt. He vomits out a stream of blood, and dies.

You rip the storage slate from his wrist computer and stow it in your belt. You contact Steel-Arrow.

"Where's the tunnel entrance?"

"Exit the warden's office, turn left, and Look for a maintenance hatch. You don't have match time. They know about it too, and are sending men to collapse it. I managed to stop the first batch."

Suddenly, the lift behind you closes, and you hear a whirring noise, signalling its ascent. They must have found out a way to breach the control system.

Do you:

A. Make haste and search for the tunnel entrance.
B. Put some drone mines on proximity mode near the elevator.
C. Stay behind cover and wait for the lift to come back down, then fire on everyone inside.
>>
>>26557612
B
>>
>>26557612
A.

We'll need those mines to collapse the tunnel behind us.
>>
>>26557612
B
Then make for the tunnel.
>>
>>26557612
A

He said go fast, we go fast.
>>
>>26557612
>A. Make haste and search for the tunnel entrance.

We can set the mins later. RUN!
>>
>>26557612
Already voted for B, but as an addition, lets set one mine to observer mode and leave it behind in the office to evaluate the effectiveness of the trap. We need to know if anyone is coming at us from the rear.
>>
>>26557612
>B.
Throw a single mine on to the elevator and leg it to the tunnel. We can place another mine at the tunnel entrance after we've entered it.
>>
>>26557639
We don't have time for that. That they are coming from the rear is a certainty.

We need to move, fast. It's not just our lives now. Ashen-Blade needs our help.
>>
>>26557651
Doesn't take long to throw a mine down.
>>
>>26557612
A

time is of the essence
>>
Tie between A and B.

Tiebreaker?
>>
>>26557681
Here.

>>26557626
>>26557632
>>26557634
>>26557676
A.

>>26557620
>>26557630
>>26557640
B.

A wins.
>>
A
>>
>>26557694
Right.

A's have it.

Deciding time is of the essense, you quickly turn and sprint through the door, with your comrades following close behind. You follow Steel-Arrow's instructions and locate the maintenance tunnel.

It takes some effort to pry it open. You peek inside. It hasn't been used for a long time. You descend quickly to find a tunnel that extends into the distance.

As you begin to run down its length, you hear a clanking noise behind you. They've managed to find the hatch.

You look at your belt. Three mines. If you place them carefully and focus their blast long the same slice of the tunnel, you may be able to collapse it behind you, but you're concerned doing so may cause an avalanche and cause the entire tunnel to cave in.

Or you can set the mines to proximity mode and slow down your pursuers.

Do you:

A. Setup the mines to collapse a section of the tunnel.
B. Set the mines in proximity mode and slow down your pursuers.
>>
>>26557743
B. Set the mines in proximity mode and slow down your pursuers.

Don't want to die in an avalanche.
>>
>>26557743
A. Setup the mines to collapse a section of the tunnel.

EARTHQUAKE
>>
>>26557743
A
Set it on a time delay mode. Doesn't matter if a few get through, as long as majority of them don't.
>>
>>26557743
>A. Setup the mines to collapse a section of the tunnel.
>>
>>26557765
Good idea.

((Not voting, just talking))
>>
>>26557765
i'll back it. let it go off twenty seconds after the last one is set
>>
>>26557765
>>A. Setup the mines to collapse a section of the tunnel.

You signal your comrades to cover you as you quickly set up the mines. You set them to remote, and resume your run.

You hear footsteps grow closer. You hit the button and trigger the explosives. The entire tunnel shakes violently. You turn to see a cloud of dust billowing behind you.

You continue running forward for few more minutes, when a panel falls down from the ceiling, and a figure drops down. It's Steel-Arrow.

"Good you made it. Come on, we don't have much time left."

You quickly climb up until you reach the surface. You find yourself outside of a large waste processing complex. You look towards the city. The entire district seems to be in lockdown.

Ashen-Blade approaches you from a distance and greets you. He pats Quick-Shadow on the back. "Good to see you." He looks at you. "Death-Gifter is still alive. It may not be safe to stay in the city. On the other hand, it may be difficult to leave. What's next?"

You say:

A. "Quick-Shadow has data incriminating the Night-Prowler ruling council. We need to get this data to my Matriarch and make it public."
B. "We return to the arena, and lay low. Death-Gifter won't make a move on us in public."
C. "We go back to Death-Gifter's house. We wait for him to return, and we kill him. As long as he's still alive, we won't be safe."
>>
>>26557881
>A. "Quick-Shadow has data incriminating the Night-Prowler ruling council. We need to get this data to my Matriarch and make it public."

Death-Giver is going to be desperate. He'll do whatever it takes, even in public.

We need to get the data to the Matriarch. We need to get Quick-Shadow out of here. It is not safe.
>>
>>26557881
>A

We got what we need, lets get out.
>>
>>26557881
A. NOT b, thatd be stupid. and C would result in political problems with the clan
>>
>>26557881
A
Shame about the tourney. Sharp Strike seems like he can handily win it. But clan business comes first.
>>
>>26557881
A. The mission comes first, tourney was just a cover after all.
>>
>>26557881
>A. "Quick-Shadow has data incriminating the Night-Prowler ruling council. We need to get this data to my Matriarch and make it public."

No other choice
>>
>>26557927
>>A.

"Quick-Shadow has data incriminating the Night-Prowler ruling council. We need to get this data to my Matriarch and make it public," you tell them.

"Right," Quick-Shadow agrees, and takes out the spear projectile from his belt. He twists the top and unscrews the tip. Inside is a small data chip. He hands it to you.

You slot it into your wrist computer and bring up its contents. It's a series of communique between Night-Star and several of his compatriots, and should be sufficient to incriminate all of the current ruling council.

You quickly dispatch a message to your matriarch under high encryption, and relay it to your matriarch.

"Done," you tell Quick-Shadow.

"What's next?" He asks.

You say:

A. "We lie low in the city and wait for word from my Matriarch."
B. "We get out of the city on foot, and make for Clan Fire-Forge territory. It'll be a few weeks of walking, though."
C. "Let's head back to the space port and see if we can't sneak aboard one of the cargo freighters."
>>
>>26558028
>B. "We get out of the city on foot, and make for Clan Fire-Forge territory. It'll be a few weeks of walking, though."

We can't run the risk of being captured. No one here is injured, so we'll be able to. If I remember correctly, Burning-Scythe is from Fire-Forge, so we may have friends there.

I want to get out of this snake-den.
>>
>>26558028
>A. "We lie low in the city and wait for word from my Matriarch."

All options are risky though...
>>
>>26558028
B. Space port will be completely locked down. TSA^10

Remember when we came here? Their security measures were already drastic. It's going to be a thousand times worse now.
>>
>>26558028
>B. "We get out of the city on foot, and make for Clan Fire-Forge territory. It'll be a few weeks of walking, though."

We're uninjured and fully armed, we can hoof it to friendlier territory rather than risk getting caught.
>>
>>26558028
question on B, distance wise, how far is Fire-Forge territory away, because a few weeks would mean several hundred kilometres
>>
>>26558028
B

we Yautja SAS now

heres hoping we find the Yautja equivalent of a LRPV
>>
>>26558085

About two hundred kilometers, but presumably, you'll need to be careful about dodging patrols.
>>
>>26558028
B, please tell me there isnt a hidden xeno hive somewhere that the prowlers use to dispose of political prisoners
>>
>>26558113
>please tell me there is a hidden xeno hive somewhere

Fixed that for you.

Some recreational Xeno hunting would be just the thing to blow off some steam. Remember, the only things that actually threaten us are aquatic wildlife, half-death synthetics, and other yautja. Xenos are smalltime.
>>
>>26558055
Ah, Burning-Scythe is from Gold-Bastion. But not to worry! It's Steel-Arrow who is from Fire-Forge. Even more convenient.
>>
>>26558113
worse-theyve been importing the fis.......
>>
>>26558126
>and other FEMALE yautja

FTFY

also, you can add elevators to that list
>>
>>26558143
Ok, females and elevators, you're right.

Males yautja haven't been a problem.
>>
>>26558146
we should just tell Librarian-tan that some bad Yautja female was bullying us, she would destroy them
>>
>>26558090
>>26558078
>>26558073
>>B.

"We get out of the city on foot, and make for Clan Fire-Forge territory. It'll be a few weeks of walking, though."

Steel-Arrow looks to the distance. "May as well get started now, then, while it's still dark."

You agree, and the 5 of you begin to head away from the city.

Along the way, you take care to evade Night-Prowler tracking teams and manage to make good distance each day. You reach a small Fire-Forge hunting village a few days into the second week.

The hunters there greet you, and after hearing of your plight, places you on to a shuttle and send you on your way back to Cloud Viper territory.

Along the way, you make your report to the Matriarch. She informs you the Empress's agents are already in contact with the deposed Clan Night-Prowler Matriarch, and a plan is being hatched to retake the city from the traitors.

Quick-Shadow leans back, and is at last relieved.

Archived here.
>>
>>26558180
woo, hopefully next arc we can kill alot more shit indiscriminately instead of trying to be a sneaky detective
>>
>>26558180
That's a relief. See you next thread.

>He looks at you, coughs weakly, and whispers, "War... war is coming."
