>Previous quests can be found at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Sky+Sons>I'll post reminders, updates, and apologies at https://twitter.com/RingSpeakerThe time has come to lead the noble Sky Sons into legend and glory, friends. Gather around the speaking stone, and show us the wisdom that will make our tribe into kings of Dragon Pass. It's only by your might and your leadership that we will succeed against enemy tribes, evil monsters, and the very land itself. Come, and see the tale unfold before you of the Sky Sons!>What is King of Dragon's Pass, you weird person?King of Dragon's Pass is a PC game from 2000. In King of Dragon's Pass, or KoDP, you play as a single tribe of celt/nordic bronze age warriors as they settle, colonize, tame, and eventually dominate a foreign land. In this version of /tg/ Plays, I'll run the game for you all, and I'll carry out the actions that you tell me to in the game, then report back with the results. You can be a part of the complete victory or tragic defeat of a tribe made by /tg/ itself, the Sky Sons!
The last time the council ring convened was at the end of the year, mere weeks before Sacred Time. This last year has not been kind to the Sky Sons; we lost our clan leader, Garstal to a hero quest, and were forced to re-organize the council ring in order to satisfy Eurmal's mad whims. Not to mention our assaults on the blight-born Vostangs have yet to net anything except dead soldiers.Perhaps the dawn of a new year will change the luck of the Sky Sons, but what should we pursue in the last few days of this one?
>>26605452Perhaps the most pressing concern is the diminished number of weaponthanes; trolls slew many of our trained warriors this year, and without more, we'll have difficulty protecting caravans or even our tula without stretching our forces too thin. We could take on more warriors in this space before Sacred Time.
>>26605575Thankfully, our food problems from last year are mostly resolved; now we're not at risk of a sudden shortage. Though when we lost some of our farmland to a sudden opening in the earth, we did promise the cottars that we'd cut down more forest to make room for farms. We will need more cattle if we wish to expand and take down more than a few hides worth of trees, however.
>>26605782The profit of our markets has also improved after finally entering a trade agreement with our allies, the Wolves. Now new goods flow into our coffers every season as opposed to every year. We're supporting about as much trade as we possibly can right now, though with more veneration to Issaries, our wealth will increase even further.
>>26606081The Sky Sons have more enemies than allies out in Dragon Pass, unfortunately. An alliance of opportunity was forged with the Blackrocks, thanks to our shared worship of Humakt and our shared respect for duck-kind. The Swamp Ducks and Beaker Ducks also regard us well, the latter for allow them to use our shrine to Humakt and the latter for entering into peace agreements when we first discovered them. The Vostangs are our eternal hated foe, and while we feud with the Peluskis, we do not hold the same level of disgust and sheer rage at them that we reserve for the Vostangs. Relations with the Stag Hearths has not gone well either, due to the intractibleness of their women.
>>26606081Holy crap, we finally got the wolves to trade with us?
>>26605575Recruit more weaponthanes.
>>26606583Sad that we need so many weaponthanes when we've never had a successful raid.
>>26606371I suppose a cattle raid on the Vostangs is out of the question.
>>26606638With 12 thanes total? I'd think so.
>>26606650>>26606638Low on thanes and low on cows, this is not a good situation to be in.
>>26606570They desired access to a cache of gems that Ernaldess found while exploring our tula. Hankorl negotiated the trade agreement while Valensta was off on another mission.>>26606583>>26606614.... unfortunately, Valensta took all of the spare horses with her to market with the Kadarvis. Until she returns with the one she couldn't sell or we acquire them through some other means, we cannot take on more warriors. I apologize for this oversight.
>>26606693Ones she could not sell, that is. Valensta is a skilled trader, but I do not know how much the Kadarvis hurt for horses.
>>26606693Well fuck. At least we have truesword, fat lot of good it has been doing us.
>>26606693>More population than cows>More children than farmersThe absolute WORST.
>>26606693Explore our Tula, perhaps? Can't think of much else to do otherwise, that doesn't cost us funds.
>>26606693We have an awful lot of people sick, are our farmers overworked?
>>26606767Yeah, normally I'd suggest emissaries but we're too poor right now.
>>26606810Too poor to bribe people not to rob us.Ain't that a hoot.
>>26606757Hopefully Valensta will return with many cows from the Kadarvis. At least, that is why we sent her to them.>>26606767>>26606810Ernaldess was our go-to explorer now, but her position on as war leader on the ring means that Voskandora will explore our tula in her stead.>>26606804As of this moment, no, though they have been for the past few years. Chalana Arroy's Curing ritual will hopefully get our cottars back on their feet.
>>26606831Truly we are a cursed people.
>>26606832Make it so then.Maybe we'll find a treasure.
>>26606832While Voskandora explores our lands, the Wolves come with their yearly tribute of goods in exchange for our gems. The increase in silver is always welcome, as is the respect of our allies.
>>26606857Maybe we'll eventually save enough enough goods to build that stone wall.Sure would be nice.
>>26606857While our explorers hunt our lands for wealth, a number of the noble ladies approach the ring and voice many complaints about our new chief, Endal. Some of their complaints are out of his control, while others are disagreements about his priorities as a leader. How should we settle this matter, fellows?
>>26606920I bet Renatha is behind this.
>>26606920Ask who put them up to it.
>>26606920Does Endal not have good leadership?
>>26606950>>26606964Renatha is not behind the anger of these women; it's actually Arene, a former member of the council ring. The women repeat their complaints, and demand that something be done.>>26606986His is Good, but Arene's is Excellent.
>>26607006Right, I was thinking Arene was Renatha. I get them Ernaldans mixed up.Anyways, we need to have arene killed.
>>26607006Either dispute or remind them of their duty.
>>26607006Reminds them of their duty, yeah.
>>26607006If we're good enough at arguing, debate it.If you don't think we're up to the task then I suppose we should just remind them of their duty.
>>26607042>>26607091>>26607110Thankfully, the band of nobles do listen to our lawspeaker, Kulbrast, as he points out that Endal is our proper chief and they are sworn to follow him. Perhaps his difficulty is in speaking to Stag Hearths, not women.
>>26607131Valensta also returns, bringing over two score of cattle with her. A very welcome sight indeed.
>>26607147Hey, 6 horses! You know what to do with those.
>>26607147Unlike Valensta, however, Vosokandra comes back empty-handed. Though, I would not call this cause to be concerned just yet; after all, Ernaldess explored for two seasons before finding the gems that the Wolves desired so much.>>26607161Valensta traded six horses, she didn't acquire them. Though I do not now precisely how many she left with; perhaps she did not sell all she took to market.
>>26607190Oh, sorry.Still, we made a hefty profit. The cow to horse rate is 4 to 1.
>>26607235Very true. Valensta is the most skilled trader in the entire clan, and is eager to take silver and cows from other clans.>>26607190Speaking of the situation of our warriors, some of the thanes approach the ring and demand that we take on more. Satisfying them shouldn't be too difficult, since it is what we desired in the first place.Should we send Valensta out on a mission to find more thanes, or accept any that step forth? Or take another path that the clan desires more?
What's the mood of our clan at the moment?
>>26607267send Valensta out for two or three seasons or as long as it takes, really
>>26607267Woo, free warriors!
>>26607273Our failed heroquest has not inspired a lot of confidence in the clan. Overall, they are dissatisfied, the farmers are shaken, and the thanes are resolved.
>>26607024Well, I'm pretty sure we could find use for her abilities, such as making her our emissary. *cought* to Cragspider *cought*.
>>26607315if the thanes are resolved, we could maybe get out of this with a poem and seek out weaponthanes by our own schedule.
>>26607321Trolls are already raiding us enough, we should put it off until we are on better footing.
>>26607296I don't think we'll need her to trade for a while so send her for as long as it takes.
>>26607346Yeah, but this gives us weaponthanes without having to waste an action. Win-win.
>>26607296>>26607399Valensta will spend two seasons abroad searching for strong sword-arms to serve the clan. Hopefully she can lead them home just as she led home the cows she took from the Kadarvis. And with that, this less-than-fortunate year comes to a close. Thanks to the last bit of trading, however, we do look a bit more prosperous than we did a year ago. Our failed heroquest and change in leadership still stings, however.
>>26607413Buncha goods, very nice.
>>26607413And indeed, fortune smiles upon us this Sacred Time, and the omens are good for avoiding kinstrife this coming year. Given the enemies that surround us, the last thing we need is to fight amongst ourselves. And the omens for crops aren't poor, either. So, now, what should we give magic to this year? Heroquesting may not be wise, given our failure this year. We still hold the ire of the trolls, so some magic to war would be prudent as well. We have many sick, so healing magic would be useful, too.
>>26607413Whoa, new shrine to Chalanna arroy? Interesting, although I've always find it to be kind of worthless.
>>26607463Shit, has our reputation fallen since last Sacred Time?
>>266074632 crops2 war1 herds1 health1 trade
>>26607557Looks like it, back at the middle.
>>26607546We have many sick farmers, to the point where it was interfering with our ability to harvest crops. The idea was to use her Curing ritual until they were better, then enact rites of Healing when we took many injuries in combat.>>26607557>>26607582Not since last Sacred Time, no. It's the same as it was then.
>>26607616Yeah, but you don't need a shrine to get curing. You can just sacrifice a bit to her and she'll cute some right away.
Should we invest in diplomacy?
>>26607567I'd do this, except switch war and health, because I don't know if we'll be able to raid that much.
>>26607699This is true, though the shrine protects us from maladies incurred after we sacrificed to her, and will keep our people healthier overall.>>26607754That is up to the clan ring. Magic given to Diplomacy will help us interact better with our neighbors, such as when attempting to establish trade relations, end feuds, or start alliances. If this is what the clan desires, then investments there are wise.
>>26607784War helps in defense as well.
>>26607802Would diplomacy magic have any effect if we don't send out emissaries?
>>26607830It would have less of an effect, but it could help us in certain events. Such as if the Stag Hearths lobbied more complaints against us, or if our carls desired for us to try and make peace with the Peluskis again.
>>26607860Isn't our main diplomat busy, though?
Well invest the magic and be done with it; Let's get this train wreck a rollin'.
>>26607881Valensta is our best trader, but Hankorl is a good diplomat and trader as well.Does this satisfy the desires of the ring?
>>26607950I don't exactly know what we're planning for the year ahead, but this should be ok regardless.
>>26607950Looks good to me.
>>26607950The magic is sent out, with our hopes for a better year with them. Our first bit of news isn't pleasant, though; Gadrostan, a skilled hunter and follower of Odayla, has died at the age of 65.
>>26607985Survival, I hope.
>>26608062With the rituals for Sacred Time complete, we enter into Sea Season. A bit of good news is that the cows Valensta procured has more than doubled the amount of land our cottars can add to our fields. We did promise to clear more land when a gaping chasm opened in our fields; now may be a good time to clear the forests and gain more farmland.
>>26608116Destroy the elfhomes!
>>26608116Take on 15 more hildes.Leave some wiggle room so those that die and get sick or wounded don't lead to the rest being over worked. And yeah, cut down as much of the trees as we can. They make it easier to raid us.
>>26608154>>26608162The Sky Sons take axe to the wild lands, and once they are done, we have more worked lands than unworked ones. Our tula is so vast, though, that there are still plenty wild spaces left in our home.
>>26608201We shoulda taken more pastures to displace more elves.Ah well, At least we have a good bunch of cows.
>>26608201While we uphold our promise to the carls, they come to the council ring once more. Led by Jarosar, they complain of our failed raids the last few seasons, and the impact they've had on the clan's ability to farm. This is an opportunity to improve the attitude of our farmers, if we so choose. How should we respond to these requests?
>>26608251Persuade him he's wrong.Because he fucking is.
>>26608251What do they want us to do, not get raided by trolls? Yeah, we'd all like that.
>>26608382I think his desire is for us to not assault others at least for a little while, in order to lessen the strain on the fyrd. Less raids means less counter-raids, after all.
>>26608374Attempting to persuade Jarostar against what many believe was less fruitful than hoped. Given the lack of loot taken from the Vostangs the last few seasons, it's easy to see why.
>>26608251Let's curtail our raids for a little while, then.
>>26608422You'd think, but even the people we've never raided seem to have it out for us.
>>26608374>>26608511Why would you try to reason with carls? They're going to carl no matter what.
>>26608511Our decision has done little to raise the spirits of our cottars and carls; we'll need to take some more drastic actions if we want to raise their moods. Though on a better note, our sick are recovering much better, thanks to the intervention of Chalana Arroy and a more balanced workload.Valensta has not yet returned with more warriors; she should return sometime in Fire Season, hopefully. What should we do with the rest of the planting season, fellows?
>>26608601It's not reasoning, it's persuading.It's worked before!
>>26608603Lift their spirits with a surprise early raid!
>>26608603Ooh, almost enough goods for a stone wall. That'll be handy.
>>26608603Can't think of much else to do besides exploring.Normally I'd say try trading some but we need those goods for fortification and our best trader is away.
>>26608658Maybe if we explore somewhere, we can find either goods, or some sort of resource to get more goods so we can get our wall up.
Who are we in debt to?
>>26608684True. However I don't think it's a good thing to have our already small amount of weaponthanes far from our tula during fire season.Maybe in earth we can have them branch out more?
>>26608658Indeed; perhaps come Fire Season, our markets and crafters will have made enough profit for us to build a stone wall to protect our tula.>>26608682>>26608684>>26608715Vosokandra stands ready to search the darker regions of Dragon Pass on our order. Should we send her out of our tula, and perhaps into the wilds around us in hopes of treasure? Or keep her close to home?
>>26608732I'd like to send her further but in the harrowing fire, I don't know if we can afford the risk.
>>26608696Quite a few tribes, unfortunately. We owe favors to the Arnorings, Blue Spruces, Boskovis, Karandolis, Kadarvis, the Narris, the Orlevings, the Rakstanti, the Taralings, and the Wolves.
>>26608787Yeah well, you can't get water from a stone so good luck to them.
>>26608808For now it just means that we should be honorable if they come to us for aid, and if we happen upon a surplus, giving it to them without being asked will make others see us better.Voskosandra sets out to our tula, hoping to find riches and treasure once more. In the meantime, a gargantuan monster of chaos with a taste for mutton looms upon us! All agree that we do not have the might to slay such a creature on our own, and that we need aid to do so. Where shall we seek it; in neighboring clans, from Uroxi, or from the Storm Bull himself?
>>26608869WHATTHEFUCKNever saw that before. Are we going to die very soon?
>>26608869Oh shit.Get some Uroxi warriors up in here. We've seen the prowess of their warriors, even if the one in question was a filthy traitor who served the chaos-wielding Vostangi.
>>26608941Hopefully not, if we can destroy the monster before its tastes change from sheep to farmers.
>>26608869Uroxi warriors live for this shit, let's get them
>>26608869Send for Uroxi warriors, tell them that it drops rare equipment, but they can only fight it if they gather a group of 40.
>>26608869Ah. I wondered about the consequences of that failed heroquest. That answers that, huh?
>>26608982Elmal is no longer guarding our stead.
>>26608956Farmers nothing, that nigger has a taste for temples and fortifications.Get some Uroxi to kill it dead.
>>26608952>>26608959>>26608974Two Uroxi slay the terrible beast, but after it's consumed two of our horses; a loss we can ill afford. The Storm Bulls advise us to give proper deference to their god in the future, something that many see as wisdom.
>>26609011I bet the Vostangi are behind this.
>>26609029>VostangiOf course... The classic two-man con.One of them summons up a chaos beast and sics it on us, while the other claims to be Uroxi and kills it.
>>26609011Er, wait, no they don't slay the thing; I misread what the response was. I apologize; this is the first time I've seen this event myself. The terrible creature continues to loom over our tula. Should we take the advice of the Uroxi, or perhaps trust in our own power and attack the thing on our own?
>>26609011Can we afford to sacrifice right now?
>>26609011We learned that lesson the hard way, we should get an Urox temple up, posthaste.
>>26609057We can't afford NOT to sacrifice.Make it so, may the storm bull grant us his scouring winds.
>>26609057Can we afford to be eaten by a chaos monster? Sacrifice that shit.
>>26609056I say we dress Kenstrel as a horse and use him as bait to distract it while we sacrifice to Urox.
>>26609011>Two Uroxi show up>We lead them to the monster>It's busy eating all our horses>The Uroxi point at it>Oh, well here's your problem. Looks like you've got chaos beasts. Big 'uns too. Thanks, guys.
>>26609098>>26609107What gifts are appropriate to invoke Urox's protection?
>>26609137I bet they're going to charge a consultation fee for that, too.
>>26609139Let's sacrifice goods. It might put us a bit further behindin getting the stone wall, but we can't eat goods.
>>2660913915 goods and 15 cows.So much for that stone wall.
>>2660913920 cattle is standard, right? We're in a desperate situation, but we can't exactly afford a big sacrifice, so 20 should do, and cattle instead of goods, because Urox is a cattle, I think.
>>26609172Why would we kill cows to gain the approval of a bull god?
>>26609196Cuz he likes blood.
>>26609196You're sending the animals to his realm, and he wants to be with his kind.
>>26609169>>26609171>>26609172The monster continues to plague our tula as we make our offerings to the Chaos Smiter, but the god-talkers say that Urox received our gifts and gave us his blessings in combat.I can think of no other time to attack, fellow thanes. Should we trust in the Storm Bull and slay this foul creature?
>>26609219Naw it doesn't work that way.Cow sacrifices don't go over well with Uralda for instance.
>>26609229Yes, we're not in a position to go asking for favours.
>>26609229Fuck that was a lot of cows.Nothing else to do now but ATTACK
>>26609229Don't got much choice otherwise aye?
>>26609229We have the two Uroxi Warriors with us and a bless from Urox, so there's nothing left but to slap some shit
>>26608869Truly we are a cursed people.
>>26609229CLEAVE AND SMITE
>>26609262Maybe it will be so stuffed from eating all our cows sheep and horses it will fall asleep.
>>26609252>>26609254>>26609257>>26609289The foul monster lies dead. Its body may have polluted our tula, but at least it is no longer consuming our livestock. Urox be praised.
>>26609294Maybe it will fall asleep after it's done FUCKING YOUR MOM ALL NIGHT!Wanker, we kill the beast now. End of the line.
>>26609307Great, now we have a dead chaos spot on our tula. Lovely.
>>26609307Well shit. Have we lost much farmland?
>>26609307Fucking chaos. Even when you win against them, you lose.
>>26609307Well that could have been worse.
>>26609307After the hubbub of the chaos assault dies down, Renatha reports that the carls are thankful that we honored our promise to them, and that their spirits are lifted. A bit of welcome news after such a poor turn of events.
>>26609307>Down 25 cows, 15 goods, who knows how many horses and sheep, 1 weaponthane, 1 magic, some cropland.A few more victories like that and we'll all be dead.
>>26609354Great. Make up for the sinkhole and then a chaos orgy pollutes our land.
>>26609334>>26609329>>26609409Despite the noxious form of the rotting chaos beast, it does not affect our ability to grow crops or keep our cattle. It must have died somewhere out in the woods, perhaps. And with that, Fire Season is upon us. Neither Valensta or Voskandra have returned yet, so the traditional raiding may want to wait until they return with more stout warriors. Invoking Urox's favor against further chaos may be a wise action to take. Or whatever else is the clan's desire. I await your orders.
>>26609428How many patrols do we have? Maybe we should beef them up a little
>>26609428FIVE horses?Fuck man.
>>26609473We can't, we don't have enough horses.
>>26609428Let's get righteous with Urox. Maybe with the favor of he and Humakt, we can finally defeat the damned Vostangi.
>>26609428Time to bunker down and farm our losses away?
>>26609473Half our thanes are on long patrol, while half of the remainder are on close patrol. We could put more of them on defense, but no time to rest or train will lead to them growing weary and irritable.
>>26609516Naw. We should wait and get a Stone Wall first.Fortifications only have the upfront cost and help in all raids after that. And a stone wall is POWERFUL.
>>26609556Unfortunately, we lack the resources to construct a wall of stone just yet, and our best trader is still out searching for more warriors to defend us with. We can afford Urox's aid right now, however.Should we ask for his aid once more, or pursue something else in these sweltering days?
>>26609604Of course we can't afford it right now, but we will be able to very soon.
>>26609604Urox is busy, let's improve morale with a good old fashioned raid.
>>26609556>>26609525I see the wisdom in this. Very well, let us bide our time.
>>26609604Urox can wait.
>>26609634We're not strong enough right now, and the carls are about to revolt. A raid wouldn't help mood, and would probably just result and us getting cattle raided.
>>26609662It's fucking ridiculous. EVERY RAID against the Vostangi we've outnumbered them and killed more of their people with almost no casualties.AND WE'VE STILL LOST EVERY TIME
>>26609687Perhaps the spite of our men has them focusing on direct confrontation, rather than profit? I dare say, raiding them with such a bias is foolhardy. We ought to go after someone else for once.
>>26609662The clan mood was improved when we held our word, but no one can yet call it positive. More failed raids will indeed lead to more quabbles, omens against kinstrife or no.>>26609687It was the same way when we were assaulted by trolls; we relied on our fortifications to protect us, and they found no way to enter our tula.If we truly wish to strike at the Vostangs, we should weaken them before going for a mortal blow. Perhaps by having Eurmal curse them, or by trying to destroy their fortifications instead of just taking plunder.
>>26609725What, and piss our neighbors off even MORE?At least with the Vostangi we know where the hate is coming form.
>>26609742>If we truly wish to strike at the Vostangs, we should weaken them before going for a mortal blow. Perhaps by having Eurmal curse them, or by trying to destroy their fortifications instead of just taking plunder.
>>26609742Destroying fortifications is really, really hard though.
>>26609777>Can't succeed at plunder, the easiest kind of raid>Decide to try and make it easier>By attempting the third hardest kind of raid
>>26609768Having Elmal curse them is awfully appealing...But sacrifices are expensive
>>26609814Err, Eurmal I mean.
>>26609814So farm up, bunker down, capitalism ho!As far as that's possible in KoDP... getting 'rich' always takes so long in this game...
>>26609858So what would you have us do for this season? Simply pass the time until our emissaries return?
>>26609858Shame we're not super powerful like you know who. They LIKED getting raided, because it meant fertilizer for their fields and another 200 goods each time, with horses as icing on the cake.
>>26609876What else could we do? Explore that tula some more?
>>26609897We're still waiting for Vosokandora to return from an exploration. We could send another out, but I'm not sure of the wisdom of it.
>>26609934We are? Where did we send her?
>>26609934So we should chillax and just farm away right?
>>26609934I 'spose just wait then.Nothing more we can do.
>>26609934Sending an emissary out to ask for gifts from those in our debt is also another option. The Blackrocks might gift us with silver to finish building our walls.>>26609963At the end of Earth Season. She should return swiftly, assuming no foul luck befell her.>>26609970>>26609972If that is the desire of the clan, I will do so.
>>26609970We could try a cattle raid.Of course, if we get caught then we'd be powerful fucked. So yeah, nevermind.
>>26609983People being in debt to you makes them more lenient to you though. It's a good thing.
>>26609983>Sending an emissary out to ask for gifts from those in our debt is also another option. The Blackrocks might gift us with silver to finish building our walls. What are the chances of success for that? And what are the scenarios of failure. If failure just means we had some dudes walk a lot, big deal. But I don't want to see more resources going down the drain you know.
>>26609983Oh, you mean the lady we sent to get more Weaponthanes?Or an actual explorer?
>>26610022An actual explorer. One of our best combatants and a worshipper of Vinga.>>26610020By Orlanthi law, clans are honor-bound to return favors owed when called upon unless they are literally incapable of fulfilling what was asked for. Asking for more than the traditional amount will earn us the ire of our neighbors, and asking for less will make us appear generous. The only opportunities for failure are if whomever we approach has nothing to give, or if the caravan is attacked while traveling.
>>26610086Of course, sending out a group asking for favors leaves less thanes around the tula to defend.
>>26610110This is true as well. While Voskandora is exploring our tula, they meet a man who dresses himself in scales of bark. He utters a prophecy, in which we will become embroiled in a feud over stones, after which we must give away one of our treasures, else we will fall prey to more beasts.Almost everyone on the ring considers him mad, though Kenstrel sees a kindred spirit and wishes to adopt him. What should we do about this unique man living on our lands?
>>26610086So what I'd like to say is that we'd ask our weakest allies for gifts.Since they're weak, there's a big chance they'll ask us for a gift sooner or later, so we'll have our influence back.Sounds solid right?Of course, if we can only get gifts from powerful clans, I'd rather keep that influence for later, when we're back on our feet.
>>26610201Shit, I never had this event.
>>26610201Bah, it's just random gibberish. No way should we give our treasures away.Maybe we should trade blacktail for a less mortal treasure though.
>>26610201Search to adopt him I suppose, although I doubt we'll have any luck.
>>26610244Are you sure?
>>26610263Of which part?
>>26610282That bark-man is just a madman.
>>26610201>>26610201What are his exact words about the treasure and the beasts?
>>26610326His entire prophecy is in the image.
>>26610326Well, we'll see won't we?My bet is the rock he's talking about is the War-rock of that one clan.
>>26610344It cuts off at dispute?
>>26610201Do nothing.Time will test his prophesies, we can do no more.
>>26610371Sorry, uploaded the wrong pic. Here's the full text.
>>26610201Looks kind of like the Teller of Lies...
>>26610384>>26610244At least now we have the crazy man's prophecy; if he turns out to be correct, we will know what to do come that time.
>>26610402>>26610402Slimy monsters? I'm sure we can handle them.Treasures are valuable man, giving one up is crazy.
>>26610415Now you mention, for a prophet he sure uses events that happened very recently.
>>26610438Valensta finally returns to us as well, with nine strong warriors in tow. Now, everyone agrees, the Sky Sons have more than enough to defend themselves, and even enough warriors to perhaps attack another clan if we so chose. Everyone breathes easier now with almost double the amount of thanes we had at the beginning of the season.
>>2661050924 thanes?Now that's what I'm fucking talking about.
>>26610509Do we still only have 25 horses?
>>26610509Both Vosokandora and Valensta returned just in the nick of time, as the Oak Trees come once more for Sky Son blood. Thankfully, we saw them approach, and with the full might of the fyrd, we match their footsoldiers and have double their trained warriors. How should we go about protecting the tula?>>26610540I can't look at that right now, but I believe these new warriors bring their own horses.
>>26610558Charge, drive them off?
>>26610558That stone wall sure would have been nice right about now.Fucking Chaos behemoth.
>>26610558I dunno man, I'm bad at combat.Just do whatever we need to do to win with a good win margin. We don't need more losses.
>>26610580Shame we haven't done Orlanth's heroquest, that Klanth treasure would be incredibly handy.
>>26610580>>26610597We quickly make our way to the Oak Tree lines, bringing our blades to them while they were giving sacrifices to the gods.Once battle is joined, Fantarl is challenged to a duel by an enemy Humakti. Under the laws of their god, Fantarl is supposed to accept, but this opponent will offer a challenge to him. How should he deal with this foe?
>>26610655HONOUR OVER DISHONOUR!
>>26610655LET HUMAKT JUDGE
>>26610689>>26610723The fight was honorable, and the better man stood after the duel. To die in combat is one of the highest honors for a Humakti; Fantarl now resides in his god's stead.
>>26610762That sucks. We better still win the battle.
>>26610762Rallied by the victory of their champion, the Oak Trees press hard and manage to take two cows from our herd. However, they pay dearly for the two heads of cattle, while we suffer little. A loss, yes, but far from the worst we've endured in recent days.
>>26610762God damn it.
>>26610796While we tend to our wounded, an injured Uroxi makes his way to our tula. He claims that he was ambushed by worshippers of Chaos, and seeks aid from the Sky Sons. How should we treat this unexpected visitor?
>>26610796>Vastly outnumber them>Inflict massive casualties>Still lose the battle
>>26610829He's probably a fucking Vostangi... But I suppose we owe him the benefit of the doubt after the Uroxi helped with our little chaos problem.Tend to him and then lend him warriors to fight Chaos.
>>26610762One of our best men. Succeeded in gaining us a treasure from a heroquest even. He'll be missed, but he's with Orlkarnth now.
>>26610829Let him stay. Perhaps this will turn the favor of Urox to us, and aid us against the Trolls and other forces of Chaos which have plagued us of late.
Rolled 2>>26610903>>266108591 we keep him, 2 we send warriors with him.
>>26610829We had a chaos monster on our tula, we need all the Uroxi help we can get, let him stay as long as he wants.
>>26610966Our warriors follow the Uroxi to the place where he was ambushed, and slay the cultists. The battle was gruesome, but in the end, we triumphed over Chaos. The Storm Bull would be proud.
>>26611006HOLY SHIT WE HAD A CULT ON OUR TULA?Do these events randomly pop up, or did we just destroy the source of the chaos beasts?
>>26611054Destroyed A source of chaos beasts. Not THE source. This should result in less chaos encroachment on our lands however.
>>26611054No, the Vostangi are, unfortunately, still alive.
>>26611006By the time our kin are back on their feet, Earth Season is upon us. We can rest safe now that the Oak Trees and the Vostangs are likely to be too busy with the harvest to try and attack us again. The question then becomes: what should we do while the cottars bring in the harvest? Now could be a good time to send Valensta out on a trade mission, if we want the last few goods we'll need to construct our wall or to trade one of our treasures. Or we could call upon favors, explore our lands, or make sacrifices to the gods. Whatever the clan desires, I will strive to deliver.
>>26611054Semi-random, however some events are signals of certain things. Like this one tends to pop up when Chaos is strong around your lands... But sometimes it will pop up even when it isn't, leading to a waste of time.Hard to know for sure, y'know?
>>26611006Take that, Vostangi!
>>26611118So close. A few more seasons and we should have it...
>>26611118We don't really have anything we could afford to trade for goods. We need cows since we're still low, and we're dangerously low on horses already.Trading a treasure for something like goods is right out.
>>26611118Yes, trade for goods to complete our walls. We've suffered sneak attacks far too often; we must defend our people!
>>26611187We could send someone abroad on an exploration in hopes of finding goods.
>>26611184There is the option to trade food. We have almost enough to last us until next Earth, and the harvest is not yet done. It may cut us a little close, but it's what we can give up if we want silver. Is that the path we should take? Or do we want to go another way?
>>26611251If the harvest turns out bad next year, this is going to look like the worst decision ever."You HAD food, and you sold it? For a wall!?"
>>26611375Yeah. I say we hold off on the trading.
>>26611385So what instead? MORE tula exploration?
>>26611375>>26611385>>26611424In that case, the idea of exploration was tossed around. With the threat of Fire Season raids gone, we could let our explorers venture further afield, and find greater and more mysterious treasures. Do we want to send Voskandora outside the tula?
Screw it, this game is awesome and I have it installed, I'm going to play along side this thread
>>26611438Got a full view of the map?
>>26611438Eh, sure. Might as well. Not much else we can do.
>>26611483Pretty much what you see is what the Sky Sons are aware of. We haven't explored past the boundaries of anyone's tula before.
>>26611460Play on hard mode and see how long it takes to lose.
>>26611438Let's look into some unexplored area. They're probably not as chaos infested as our tula.
>>26611517 We technically have, because some of those events don't show up on your own tula.
>>26611517We went to Quivin mountains that one time.Lotta good that did us.
>>26611438Explore to the west.
>>26611537I guess I should be more specific, the path west of the Fire Quartz tula looks interesting.
>>26611496>>26611537Voksandora journeys north into unexplored territory, hoping to bring back wealth, knowledge, or anything else that could assist the Sky Sons. It'll be some time before she returns, given that she's exploring thoroughly and going quite far afield. The harvest continues on without interruption, our stocks swelling with plenty of food for the upcoming months. How should we spend the last few days before the cold comes for us?
>>26611602Send Valensta to trade with the Wolves for some goods.
>>26611683But what do we trade for them?
>>26611602Oh shit, that's a nice harvest. Maybe we can afford to trade food after all.
>>26611683By dark we should have enough good for the wall either way.
>>26611700Perhaps trade food for more cattle and horses, then?
>>26611602Have someone explore our own tula while the others are exploring abroad.
>>26611726I suppose we could try.Horses are really expensive though.Whats the food to cow trade ratio?
>>26611700>>26611726We don't want to spend down to zero goods though, because then we won't have any left for emergencies, so get some goods anyway.
>>26611726Don't trade for goods.>>26611778We'll get more goods in storm season and more at year end from our markets. We'll have plenty of buffer.
>>26611768>>26611770>>26611789Valensta takes the familiar path to Wolf territory, laden with grains freshly pulled from the earth and dreaming of profit. While Voskandora travels north, she encounters a group of bandits. She's quite the skilled fighter, and has a few warriors following her. Should she engage the bandits, or find another way around them?
>>26611831Combat is probably her best option. You only sent three thanes with her?
>>26611831Ragged, malnourished brigands cannot stand against the might of our warriors. Teach them the error of their thieving ways.
>>26611831>Combat: ExcellentThe only thing we have to worry about is blood ruining her nice clothes. KILL THEM ALL.
>>26611831Better not be wizard-backed bandits.
>>26611846>>26611869>>26611874>>26611882The brigands turned out to be a bit more threatening than the ones we encountered in our tula, and deal some wounds to Voskandora. She does return to us, thankfully, to rest and heal. Perhaps explorers going outside our borders will need more accompaniment in the future.
>>266119333 thanes is just too few man. Always have at least 5.
>>26611933Truly we are a cursed people.
>>26611933While our explorers deal with outlaws abroad, we're forced to deal with outlaws closer to home. Tusk Raiders charge into our tula and steal some of our harvest, and now the question becomes what to do about these interlopers.
>>26611933Damn, got lucky. I expected a wizard to surf a spear through Voskandora's head.
>>26611970Send a war-party I suppose.
>>26611970Murder them.With or without magic.
>>26611970Let us turn these raiders against the hated Vostangi.
>>26612023>>26612043Our warriors are ready to bring vengeance to those who would attack the Sky Sons, but first, who should lead the war party? Ernaldess is the ring's best fighter and the best solo combatant, but Karendra has better skills in leading warriors.
>>26612054Knowing our luck they'd probably just take our money and tell the Vostangi.
>>26612139Ernaldness is the only one there who worships a war god, unless you consider Orlanth one, either way pick Ernaldness.
>>26612139No, Combat IS what determines how good Warleader they are.
>>26612188Odayla's not really really a "war god".
>>26612188>>26612222>>26612250>>26612261As the hands-down best warrior in the clan, Ernaldess is sent to lead the war party against the tusk raiders. Given that we're unlikely to be raided, we could put a full war party against them, but there is still food to be harvested; sending too many footmen would lessen how much we pull in. Thanes, however, we can send as many as we like.
>>2661226812 thanes, I think we need 6 to leave behind for patrols.
So I just got the game and I can't run it. There's a matching support option for the problem I'm having, which is that my screen resolution changes but the game doesn't run. Their solution was to kill processes for Google Chrome and Windows Live Sign-In Assistant, but I'm not running either. Anyone else have this problem?
>>26612268I thought it was dark season already, since we sent out Voskandora at the second half of Earth.
>>26612335Are you playing the GOG version, or a different one?
>>26612350With the number of warriors we sent and the skill Ernaldess exhibits in combat, the Tusk Raiders are easily killed. It's unlikely that they'll menace our tula once again.>>26612350Events happen before seasons change.
>>26612408The last of the harvest is taken in, and snow blankets the tula as Dark Season falls. Thanks to our markets and alliances, we finally have the resources to construct a wall of stone around our home. Should we go ahead and fortify our position, or do something else with our wealth?
>>26612408I have the feeling they'll be back.
>>26612408>>26612408Eat it tuskfaggots.
>>26612433MR RING BUILDERPUTUPTHATWALL
>>26612420I have the same version, and I had the same problem, so here's what I have: make it run in 640x480, disable display scaling, and run as adminstrator. For some reason, that makes it work. Don't know which part in particular is the problem.
>>26612433Let's go with the wall, we've already hyped up for it.
>>26612502It's a pretty nice wall.
>>26612455>>26612502The cottars spend the cold days depleting almost our entire stock of trade goods getting the resources, but a thick and sturdy stone wall now encircles the tula. Defending our home should now be much simpler.Valensta also returns through the winter snow, bringing us 5 horses and 8 cows from the Wolves.
>>26612529Pretty great wall even.
>>2661255150 Bushels?Acceptable I suppose when you consider how much horses are worth.Shame we suck at raiding so we never get more, normally I have more than I know what to do with.
>>26612551The wall was finished just in time, as it turns out, as the trolls descend upon us once more. They used the cover of snow and darkness to approach us, and they outnumber us. But we're in a strongly defensible position, thanks to our fortifications. How should we go about protecting the Sky Sons land, fellow thanes?
>>26612478giving that a shot..
>>26612588Should we try using Elmal's Amber?
>>26612588Man, why the fuck are the trolls so pissed at us?
>>26612695We could, but its use is most potent when we skirmish. Which is something the Sky Sons do not excel at.>>26612706Because we have the Iron Spike.
>>26612588Sit on top of the wall and laugh at them.Trollkin are weaker than humans, so I don't know if you can really consider us outnumbered. What sort of battle plan would take the most advantage of our new wall?
>>26612588Drive them off. What does Skirmish beat again?
>>26612721We didn't give the Iron spike away to the nice troll lady?
>>26612727Probably some form of evasion.>>26612748No, we chose to attack her.
>>26612748No, because she didn't say please. Also, she killed 3 of our guys.
>>26612766We chose to ATTACK HER?Wow. No wonder we got fucked by trolls.>>26612775All we we had to do was ask nicely and she'd have given us a cool treasure for it.
>>26612766Yeah, let's try evading then. Give our walls a test siege.
>>26612727We attempted to fall back to the safety of our fortifications, but the trolls caught us before we could make it. However, the saying "Always be afraid of a cornered Sky Son" proves to be true, as we slay many of the trolls with few losses.
>>26612822I'll take your word for it
>>26612478Well I've determined that it isn't the resolution or running it as the admin. So, hate to sound like I know nothing about computers, but where is the option to disable display scaling? windows 8 btw
>>26612815We promised to keep it, though. What kind of clan breaks it's oaths? A stickpicker clan, obviously.
>>26612775She only killed our guys because we decided to attack her.She-trolls are crazy super powerful.
>>26612822>>26612828It totally super happened, though!
>>26612831Damn, I never used Windows 8. You're on your own, unless someone else knows how to do it.
>>26612836Yeah, a promise to followers OF THE PHARAOH.That's no oath at all.
>>26612853Alright, well thank you for the help anyways. I'll get this up and running yet.
>>26612836Bah, I would side with trolls over Lunarians any day.
>>26612850Delivering such a decisive victory puts the warriors in high spirits, while the cottars continue to be glum. Snow still chokes our lands, making trade or exploration difficult. How should we spend the last of these cold days? Perhaps by offering sacrifice to the gods that have sheltered us? Or by replacing the losses we've taken in recent days? Or pacifying the carls?
>>26612856>>26612888Damn, I think I remembered this event chain wrong. Are we going to get a visit from someone offering sorcerous tools now?
>>26612917Naw but it's no surprise we're having such trouble with chaos.
>>26612913>spare food>poor moodI think we have the ingredients for a feast.
>>26612917Only if we don't give the spike back.Personally I think turning it over to the she-troll is best, since that way you get a treasure you can keep.
>>26612934Feasts take cows too though.
>>26612934In these dark days, a gathering of friends and family around good food can indeed lift spirits and perhaps build bridges to those around us. Shall we celebrate the victories we've one and the challenges we've overcome?
>>26613027That would cost like 70 cows.
>>26612934Not poor mood, UGLY. At that bad a feast isn't really going to work.
>>26613053>>26613073So perhaps feasting isn't the most desired of ideas. In that case, what is the will of the clan ring? Perhaps sacrifice to Issaries to give us more trading potential, or Urox to protect us from the chaos surrounding us?
>>26613158Perhaps Vinga for more luck with exploration? She has two blessings and both are amazing.
>>26613227That's not a bad idea, but now that I look at it, we're in autosage and it's pretty late. I think we'll end it here, and on Thursday, we can try calling on Vinga's favor. This thread will soon be archived up at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Sky+Sons and you can find updates, apologies, and reminders about the Sky Sons at https://twitter.com/RingSpeaker. Thank you everyone who participated tonight, and I hope to see you all next time! With hopefully less chaos as well.
>>26613287WE made it to autosage? Impressive, especially considering there were literally no posts besides your own for the first hour.
>>26613287Wow, we've BEEN at autosage. Impressive.Lotta good events this time. And by that I mean interesting and bringing out a lot of response type of events, like the Chaos whatsit one.Managed to restock our thanes and FINALLY get that wall too, meaning all the goods we get from here on out are spending money for whatever we want.
>>26613287It was fun.Sweet dreams, OP.
>>26613287Seeya next tuesday OP.
>>26612876Well I got it working, and goddamn this game is harder than you guys make it look. I went from great to fucked in like two years.
