Notes on Rolls and Voting:

When I request rolls, each set of three rolls counts for one action. For example, a two-step plan would take the first 6 linked rolls. A particularly bad failure can stop your plans early.

When rolling 1d100, I will consider criticals within the first ten linked rolls. Only criticals that occur in the first three rolls will be counted as "supercrits". This is still the case even if you'd have plan long enough to require more than ten rolls.

When I roll 1d20, the rules are the same, but I only consider criticals for the first five rolls, rather than ten. Criticals in the first three are still "supercrits".

When a plot choice results in extensive debate, I'll try to weed out the most popular trains of thought, and then call a vote on them. When voting, please respond with only a link back to the post and the number corresponding to your opinion. Other votes are discounted.

Finally, note that this is not a democracy; it is a benevolent dictatorship.

Recent Events Summary:

You have entered, and escaped the Archonium. In so doing, you have confronted your Temerity, embraced your Humanity, and helped Abigail achieve balance and return to the world. It's a trial that will sit with you, and her, for the rest of your lives...but it's one you've beaten.

You decided that your priority needs to be finding the Staff of Winds and healing Sir Flint of his parasite. Fang told you the location of the staff - Xile, the floating isles of the wind mages. Unfortunately, Xile is surrounded by fierce winds that make up the core of the spell that encompasses the entirety of Venia, making it totally inaccessable.

However, Fang also located the landing site of the Goddavi family, Flint's ancestors and the sole group that retreated from Xile before they cast the skysever as a countterattack against the Black Hand. If there's any clue to returning to the islands, it'll be there.

When you returned to Haven, you barely ducked a patrol of angels flying over the forest. They've set up camp - right where you need to go.

Do they know about the staff, and the landing site? Or have they merely been able to track your movements? You're not sure, but you're going to find out.

The ground rumbles.

"Whoa..." Flint steadies himself against a tree. "Shadow, is that you?"

<No. Does anyone sense anything?>

"Nothing here."

"No."

~I can't feel a thing~

"...it's coming from below us," Abigail says. "It's...Earth."

The rumbling increases, louder, heavier. You catch Abigail when she stumbles, holding her steady.

The shaking fades, and stops.

"What in the 8 elements was that?" Auriel says. "Abigail, you sensed something?"

"...yeah. Concentrated earth magic. But it was foggy."

Auriel bites her lip. She glances at you. "Shadow, we're almost to the encampment, and they haven't detected us. That earthquake might serve as enough distraction to help us out..."

"But what about Haven?" Flint asks. "Maybe we should go back."

"We've come this far," Adavan says. "Might as well go all the way."

You focus below you. You can't feel anything. Abigail's natural sensory range, surprisingly, is larger than yours. You might be able to get more information if you Focused...but this close to the angels, it might not be worth the risk. Not all your party members are as resilient as you.

What do you do?

You tell your wisp to go scout out Haven and report back once it knows more. It zips off through the trees.

>mana: 57/58

<Let's keep moving,> you say. <We know this encampment is a threat right now, and we have to deal with things one at a time.>

You lead the way through the trees, closing the gap to the meeting stone. You gather at the edge of the wood and peer over the field.

Another patrol briefly flies overhead, then lands on the field, in a cleared, designated section in the back. The encampment itself extends into the forest, and out onto the field all the way to the meeting stone itself.

Whatever they're doing, they're doing a lot of it. There's a flurry of activity over what looks like a few collapsed watchtowers. One of the wood barracks has also collapsed. Angels are everywhere, reorganizing panicked workers and clearing the rubble. You quickly count at least several dozen - at least two units of 40, then, for starters.

Large pits have been dug around the stone. They're almost like trenches, in fact, criss-crossing the landscape. It's transformed from the flat, untouched green field into a dusty, muddy mess.

But you just glaze over all that, because standing in the distance are two people you hoped you wouldn't see again soon - Lucifer, and Damian Vonnegut. They're arguing quite fiercely. Well, Vonnegut is arguing - Lucifer is just standing there with his arms folded. You can feel the powerful water of the crime lord, and the crackling Lightning and Light of Lucifer's aura. It's still odd to you...it seems to bend light. Or Shadow. You're not sure. Either way, there's a sort of distorted bubble around him.

What do you do?

>sneak in alone, try to find out what they're doing
>sneak up on the two bigwigs, try to listen in on the argument
>open attack while they're disorganized; distract the angels. Send the party in to try and find what they can

You chose counseling.

After walking for some time slightly inebriated by your own capacity for information distortion you find a door.

Rather, a door is placed in front of you. Just *poof*! Door. There was even that elevator bing sound that they have at ritsy places.
You analyze and observe every inch of the door, it is most certainly a normal door. It even has a knob! Unlike those much less friendly but far too common doors with long handles.
Those fucking putrid double-steeled artless handles that grant insight into nothing but how wayward the modern world in how its mass produced materialism has gone so to show
that appreciation and faith towards gently crafted handles and latches and keys are ignored and shafted and left in dumps to be of an era forgotten- but wait, this isn't

You've chosen to open the door.

Every single nerve screams as if your skin was ripped off and exposed your fragile body to a class ten hurricane of bear urine. Every single good memory you have and feeling that you've kept has
been striped from you for all eternity, and you will now bask foreverially in your incongruent self. What a shame.

The reasoing behind your action can easily exist for seemingly marginal things, at the excuse of greater emotional conflicts within, and still be just as distant from reality and passion as the greatest extremes of naivety.

The game is over, you've made your choice.

That was fun! I swear to never do this faggotry ever again.

You creep out into the field. There's plenty of holes and trenches to slip in and out of, and when those don't work, you edge between lumber and piles of dirt. Steadily, you close the gap to the two men.

" - without more time," Vonnegut says.

"I don't want excuses, I want results."

"My men are already bone tired. This fucking earthquake didn't help anything. It'll be done when it's done."

"That's not good enough," Lucifer says.

"It'll have to be."

Lucifer steps closer to Vonnegut until he's looming over the shorter, rotund man. "Do I need to remind you who you're talking to?"

Vonnegut's face darkens, but he lowers his voice. "I can't work them harder. We've been at a breakneck pace for a week, now. What can I do?"

"Bring in some of your slaves."

This doesn't outright confirm that you don't need 10 per roll though.

But it's worked in the past regardless, so if nothing else, SM doesn't care about all 10 that much even if it's in "the rules."
>>
"...that business isn't as profitable as it used to be," Vonnegut says. "I've been shifting resources away from that. Investing in other areas."

"Well, -make it- profitable." Lucifer's gaze bores into Vonnegut's face. "You get free reign because we let you have free reign. If you're not useful when we need you, then why shouldn't we replace you?"

"I'm the best there is," Vonnegut snaps. "Don't toy with me."

"Sandalphon himself is expecting immediate progress on this mission. We thought the staff was dead and buried. We thought it wouldn't be a problem. We were wrong, and I need your men to dig faster. This is enemy territory, and we're extending ourselves at a time when myself and my battalion could be well-used elsewhere."

Vonnegut eyes the angel for a moment. "It must be a pretty big damn problem for all this effort. Just how powerful is this staff?"

"Powerful enough to warrant the Most High's concern," Lucifer says sharply. "Get your men to work. Or get your slaves here, or dig yourself, if you have to. Whatever it takes. The longer we're exposed, the greater chance of unforeseen risks."

"Like what, exactly?"

"And here I thought you were the best," Lucifer says. "Yes, I'm sure the greenskins and the wood elves and the wolf freaks will just let us sit here in piece, in Yi Fang's own backyard, and dig up their land. By the Light, Vonnegut, either pick up the pace or I'll find someone who can. And I'll be sure to make your failure demonstrable motivation for the next in line."

Lucfier stalks off. Vonnegut's face is red with fury, but he clamps down and keeps his mouth shut. Once the angel has taken his distance, he wanders toward you and kicks a pile of dirt into the trench you're hiding in. It showers over your head. You keep still, and he doesn't seem to notice you. He folds his arms and stares at the ground, thinking hard.

You decide that you need to inform the party of what you've learned before making any hasty decisions. You keep still, and eventually, Vonnegut heads back in the direction of the rows of log barracks.

You're about to slip out of the trench, but before you do, a shine catches your eye. You walk forward.

There's exposed metal in the dirt. Steel - with a greenish tint. Adamantium? You brush your hand along the dirt, revealing a strip of the stuff. You walk along the trench, dragging your hand, curious as to how far it will go.

And then you round a corner.

Your tiny trench opens into a huge excavation pit that had been opened on the other side of the meeting stone. Beams of steel and adamanium soar back and forward over the clearing. Huge plates of the metal are exposed. Men are working hard with picks and shovels to clear the stone and dirt, carting it up tamped-down ramps and dumping it off in the trees. A few angels appear to be working with some uniformed men to lay down enchanted track to speed up the transfer of debris to the ground level and rebuild a few support beams that collapsed in the earthquake. Tunnels rimmed with the metal lead off into darkness, lit by small orbs of magical light.

It's quite the operation. Your friends definitely need to hear about this.

>con't
>>
You manage to make it back in one piece. Thankfully, they haven't been discovered. You tell them everything you've learned.

Auriel rubs her chin. "Vonnegut, eh? Slimy bastard. Just slimy enough to turn his back on Lucifer, maybe."

<What can you tell me about Lucifer?>

Auriel squints. "He's not like Sandalphon. The Most High believes he's in the right. Lucifer is ambitious, clever, and a suck-up like you wouldn't believe. He enjoys being number 2."

<What about his magic?>

"Unique, isn't it?" Auriel asks. "He was a lightning mage. Most of them worked with Raijin, but Lucifer stuck with Hyperion - what he saw as the strongest side. His magic repels attacks, magic, everything, and he's faster than a bolt of lightning. In swordplay I could beat him, but his sheer speed always wore me out over time."

<How does it work?>

"He didn't talk about his magic much - keeps those sorts of things to himself. But once, I pried a bit out of him. He said it's less that he bends things out of the way, and more that he bends the world around himself. Whatever the hell that means. Anyway, watch your back if he gets a bead on you. We shouldn't take him on unless we're sure we've got him trapped."

<Understood.>

"While you were out there, I was watching the angels," Auriel says. "This is all just Lucfier's crew, no one I'd be able to convince. Good news is, I don't care about killing opportunistic bastards. Lucfier's battalion was always a bunch I thought we could do without. Bad news is they won't hesitate to kill us

Flint gestures back to the field. "So, this isn't a construction project as much as it is an excavation. What are they digging up? Something my family left behind?"

<I suppose so.>

"But what's that big?" Flint's eyes widen. "...elements. That's it. The airship is buried right here!"

>con't
>>
"That makes no sense," Adavan says. "If that was so, we'd almost certainly sense the dynamo. I mean, it's right there."

"...I wonder." Ila frowns. "When we met with the orcs and the elves, before, I didn't sense anything then. Maybe it's hidden, somehow? Sir Flint, does that sound possible?"

"Well...if they escaped while the Black Hand was attacking, before the skysever was activated..." Fliny shrugs. "Stands to reason they were well concealed. Damn, I want to get in there! Who knows what we could find!"

"I think our best shot is creating a distraction using this Vonnegut character," Adavan says. "We can guarantee him safety in Archon."

"I don't know," Auriel says. "Vonengut was someone we tolerated, not trusted. Maybe we should just make our own distraction."

<And then what?>

"Well, Donovan's the expert here," Auriel says. "You could go inside with him and try to sort something out."

What do you do?

You manage to sneak back into the encampment without incident. You find Vonnegut standing on the edge of another widening trench as the men expand it deeper and along another side of the metal plating. It does seem likely that it's the airship in question...but you can't really get a good view of whatever it is, considering it's mostly buried in the ground.

Vonnegut uses a brief magic spell to carve stairs from the dirt in a switchback fashion, then walks down to inspect the plating further. He wanders off a bit from the main focus of the digging, peering into a hallway-like tunnel that hasn't been extended out too far. This is your chance.

What do you say to him to try and get him on your side?

Vonnegut leaps back from the hole. He stares at it, glances over his shoulders a few times, and begins searching around himself. "...shadow?" he says quietly.

<You have me. I hear Lucifer's been giving you a hard time.>

"Where are you? Show yourself."

<In the middle of an angelic battalion? No, not at the moment.>

"Well...what the hell do you want? Ah...of course. You want the staff, too."

<You're an enterprising man,> you tell him. <Your current partner doesn't seem to be too keen on your continued success...or survival. I could offer alternatives.>

"That's none of your business."

<I'm making it my business. What I want from you is simple - a distraction. I need time to investigate the excavation.>

"...and in exchange?" Vonnegut says. He turns, and folds his arms behind his back, peering over the work crews from his vantage point.

<I have friends in high places in Archon. They could offer you support, new opportunities.>

"Places in Archon tend to shift rapidly."

<This particular friend is in the highest place.>

"...Fang?"

<That's right.>

"Damn. Of course you're working with him. He would be interested in Obis Vin, wouldn't he?" Vonnegut taps a finger on his wrist. "...so you can give me a way out. I'm going to need something else, Shadow, if you want to secure my services."

Vonnegut considers your words for a time. "...and...what of Vampiria? The Black Lady?"

"Markets, Shadow, markets." He gestures to the excavation pit. "I've dug and re-dug the lands I live in. I need to expand. Elbow room, if you will. Like you said, I'm an enterprising man. There's no fun in asserting dominance in places where I already own everything."

"...I won't reveal your presence here," Vonnegut says, "but...I can't just move on air and promises."

The ground rumbles.

The earthquake intensifies quickly. Vonnegut spreads his legs and arms to keep his balance. It gets louder...and heavier. A crack appears in the soil nearby. "You wanted a distraction?! Get moving!!"

<What's causing these earthquakes?!>

"Doesn't matter! Now, or never! I'll try to keep Lucifer running around!" Vonnegut secures his hat with one hand a slides down a stream of ice that materializes in front of him.

You leap out of the open pit and sprint back toward your allies. A crevice opens in the ground in front of you. You leap across it and keep moving - but you can feel the earth magic swarming inside.

You're almost to a tree line when another break in the earth appears - but this one explodes, more than rips. Five robots are on you in an instant. You backpedal quickly, deflecting the arm-blades left and right. You're too off-balance to make an opposing strike.

A beam of light slices one right through the chest, and it falls to pieces. Suddenly, a reaper appears in the air beside you - and cuts down another robot. Whips of spirit slam another to the ground, then contort and trap it in a tightly-knit ball, squeezing, contracting until they slice through the metal entirely. Another machine turns to stone - its shadow frozen - and the reaper cuts it down, too.

Flint dives out of nowhere. His sword, hot white, slams through one of the robots, but gets stuck in its core. The machine backhands him, and he's sent sprawling across the grass.

You leap on top of the damaged robot.

Auriel is already at Flint's side. He's dazed, and there's blood running down his forehead. Her hand glows, and she passes it over his head.

Flint blinks back to awareness. "Ah...shit." He wipes his forehead. "...doesn't even hurt. You're good at that."

"I wouldn't have to be if you didn't charge in like an idiot!"

"But Shadow needed help."

Auriel sighs.

You grab Flint and hoist him to his feet. <Thank you, my friend. But we need to move.>

You turn back.

The encampment is overrun with robots pouring out from the cracks in the earth. They're crawling up the from the trenches. Groups of them are attacking the angels, and more are jettisoning themselves into the air. Green earth and white light dance in the sky like fireworks.

You feel a huge shock of power. A gold-white beam of light traced with lightning scrapes the sky, vaporizing half a dozen robots together - but there's more where that came from. Lucifer has his work cut out for him.

We don't know. At all. We turned DOWN the opportunity to find out also

I think it has more to do with the Rogue Faction of the automatons - that steward was recovering cores from - tipping the scales of that fight.

You plow through the melee, taking point. You can take the most punishment, and you use that to your advantage, clearing a path to your destination.

There's too many for you to track. More come from the sides - still more emerge from behind. Normally you'd be overwhelmed -

- but this time, you're not alone.

Flint takes your right flank. His sword slashes through anything that makes it past your flurry of claws and blades. Adavan works just behind the two of you, tossing ropes of magic to keep the crowd under control. Ila follows up behind, staying quiet, and then backstabbing any robots that tried to come up behind you herself.

Abigail stays in the center of the party. She summons another reaper, and then another, and another, until she's controlling four at once. Two of them stay on the ground, and the other two dominate the air above you, keeping the fliers at bay. It isn't long before the fast-movers start picking easier targets.

Auriel stays in the center of the party and uses her magic like a shield, watching everyone's back. Nothing gets to Abigail, or to anyone, for that matter. Together, you're an organized wrecking ball of death.

By the time you reach the tunnels, you've slaughtered at least a hundred robots - but even /more/ continue to come. You're about to go inside when you feel something big - something huge - swirl out of a crevice.

It feels like a dynamo - one of earth. It's moving fast, but luckily, it seems to have pinpointed on Lucifer.

What do you do?

We should give wispbro standing orders that during scouting missions when shit goes down he should suicide so we can resummon and grab the info, since it seems we don't have a long range telepathic link to it.

"Let's get inside before that thing comes after us!" Auriel shouts.

You and Flint lead the way. The rest of the party follows closely.

Most of the tunnel is still caked with dirt, but you can see where the adamanitum shines through.

Lights flicker on around you. The party comes to a halt and glances about.

<Was that you?>

Auriel and Flint both shake their heads.

"...let's keep moving, we're too close to stop now!" Flint charges ahead. The hallway lights up as he runs down it, as if a spell is activating just from him being there. Wary about leaving him alone, you flicker back up to his side, keeping yourself one step in front. The rest of the party sprints to keep up.

You reach a wide, round chamber. For a moment, it's dark. You and Flint take a few steps inside.

The lights flick on all at once. Various panels and screens flash and glow - most of them are blank. You can feel magic flowing through the walls, though it's quite weak. One of the screens in the back has words formed via strange pictographs. You Translate them. "Emergency Power - 5%. Stealth Locked." The top of the room is lined with adamanium beams and dirt - and you wonder why this place isn't buried. But then, you realize that thick glass separates you from the ground.

Auriel whistles. "Makes a girl want to fly."

In the center of the room is a round dais, set with seats that swivel on an axis. An odd sort of picture appears over the table and hovers in the air. It looks like a map, but it's three-dimensional, not a picture.

"Xile tech," Adavan says. "They were noted cartographers. Let me see..." He puts a finger on the picture, and sweeps it to the side. The picture rotates with the motion. "I'm impressed."

You notice a flashing red node on the map. It appears to be above the ground, though. Flint points at it. "What's that?"

Adavan shrugs. "Not sure. Let's have a look around."

Your party members spread out. You linger near the door, keeping an eye out for any unexpected guests.

You feel a small bit of magic, and tense up - but it's your wisp!

It zips around your head, and begins to feed you a series of images. You see Haven, safe and sound. A picture of Hamil with a hand raised in greeting. More forest as it travels back...and then, the battle. It seems the robots aren't attacking Haven, then.

What exactly are they doing here, anyway?

You wander over to Auriel and Flint. They seem to be working some of the buttons on the center table.

Auriel taps a few keys on the command console, but doesn't get a response. She huffs. "Piece of junk is too old."

"Let me try," Flint says. He sits down at one of the chairs and randomly mashes on the keys.

"Yes, I'm sure that'll work wonderfully."

"It was worth a shot," Flint says. He grins. "Besides, I just wanted to touch it. Can you imagine? My ancestors flew in this ship! This is my ship! Ha!"

"Right," Auriel says. "Well, we've got a lot of pirates swarming us. Orders, Captain?"

Flint gives her a mock serious-nod. "All power to the lower thrusters! We need altitude!" He jabs a finger into the console. "Fire the cannons!"

Flint hisses, then recoils, holding his finger. A little bead of blood forms on the tip. "Damn! That really hurt!"

"That's what you get," Auriel says. "I'm the captain around here."

MAGI-GENE CODE CONFIRMED

COMMENCING MAIN DRIVER IGNITION

The ship rocks under your feet. The power readout in the back flies to 100%, and then switches new a new label - "Reactor Power - 35%". The number climbs rapidly.

"Sir Flint?!" Abigail stumbles back from where she was poking about a tangle of exposed wires. "What's happening?!"

"The ship's activating!" Adavan says.

"How do you know?"

"Magitech! It recognized Flint's ancestry!"

You hear a tremendous howling wind. You feel it, now - the dynamo of the ship, spinning below you. The power jumps higher, and then higher, overwhelming your senses.

"Uh - uh - uh - what do I do?!" Flint shouts.

"I don't know!" Auriel shouts back. "I never learned Xilen, I can't read any of this!"

A flashing red button glows on top of the console. It grabs Flint's attention. Desperate, he reaches out for it.

<Wait!> you shout. <I can read it!>

Flint's hand stops. "Well, what does it say?!"

<Central Destination Control Override.>

The ship groans again. According to the screen, the reactor is now at 85%. The party is gathered around the command console, everyone clinging to whatever surface is available.

"What the hell does that mean?"

"Central control..." Auriel snaps her fingers. "Xile was a huge airship port. They had magitech that allowed them to automatically dock airships, and remotely control any of their own...so...this light's flashing. It's on. That means the ship is overriding that automatic control...if we press it, the autopilot should turn back on."

"...so...we're not going anywhere, right now."

"Shadow, what does that say?" Auriel points at the map.

You lean in closer. You notice a word under the red dot you didn't see before - it's quite small. <...set destination. But that's just in the sky...> you words trail off. <Xile.>

Auriel nods. "We push that button, we're going to Xile."

The ship rocks again. All of you look up. Even with the force of wind growing below you, you can feel the exchange of magical power up above. The robots and the angels are going all-out.

"And if we don't push it, we stay here?" Ila says.

"Maybe..." Auriel sighs and shakes her head. "No. I can't fly a ship piecemeal with Shadow translating. I need a real crew."

"If we stick around," Flint says, "how long are we going to last? This is our ticket to the staff! Xile! The Goddavis!"

"This sounds like suicide," Adavan says. "We're trapped between a rock and a hard place. Even if the ship can still fly, would the it even survive a trip to Xile? Would it get past those constructs? They attacked this place for a reason - and this is probably the reason. We need to get out while we still can."

"But how would we reach the islands?"

"Maybe we don't. Maybe this is the end of the road."

"But - "

"Sir Flint," Adavan says, "I understand how you feel. But our lives are on the line. Is it worth pushing the envelope?"

"...maybe he's right, Sir Flint," Abigail says. "We can find another way."

"...Ila?" Flint asks meekly."

"Dangerous either way," Ila says. "I will follow Shadow."

Flint looks at you, determined to find support somewhere. "Shadow. The staff. The parasite. My heritage! This is it!"

We want the ship intact.
We want the dynamo
Flint deserves to keep his heritage.
having two airships (one working, one in need of repairs) for haven would go a LONG ways towards making it a respectable place - even the ringed city had two.

Our path is simple.

Take off, gun for the digging machine APC Robot, and steal it's power core for the noiralev. DON'T consume it, and then stall lucifer as best we can.

>>26666357
>If we have to leave the ship behind, we can just take the Dynamo out of it.

Well, remember it has a Wind Dynamo. Chances are it can outrun anything else in the air, and it supposed to be protection against the Skysever - we can exploit this to our advantage.

If we can tank the skysever better - especially with earth magics reinforcing the hull - then the angels CAN'T pursue, though they will be angry enough to try.

The best thing we can do is bait them into following, getting targeted by the sever, and flying off into the sunset taunting them - and forcing them to land where the remaining robots can get them because they CAN'T just fly away.

The -Sky- Sever was the end of the war, not the beginning.

And if we want to bait them to death, just go up into Xile, the winds there are far more lethal than forcing the angels to just fly a long ways.

Alright, renaming the earth tree the Fully Operational Battlestation tree now.

>>26666616
>Fuck.
>Once we get some more resources we are going to pimp that ship SO hard.
>Let's remember to come back here to scavenge some delicious materials later.

Actually, xile should have plenty of this stuff just lying around....
>>
>>26666668
>we want a beard of stealthily angry wisps
I don't really want summon tree, but...
I love the idea of making our human form entirely out of whatever summons we can fit.
>>
>>26666668

Spinnaz.

Shadow spinnaz.

Just to rub it into the angels a bit more that we jacked their ship, made it better, and then jumped it into their base and are killing their dudes.

....>>26666555
>a mobile mana pool fueling the jump drive directly,
waaaaaaaaait, if we put a mana pool in the noiralev, can we set up a teleport gate from it?

and then the Noiralev (which we will have to rename) became the FULLY OPERATIONAL BATTLESTATION it was destined to be...

maybe we could steal all the guns from Sandy's ground-bound battleship... the one with the super guns...

So many things could go wrong, really.

The Erebuster!

Auuuuuuuuuuuugh
>>

Leave the name, it's fine.

It lets us wave it in his face that it was -his- ship that we stole, crashed, then fixed and started shooting his face with.
>>
>>26666837
Watch. It'll be our physical tree shard too. It'll be as STRONK and GO FAST as us; if not more so.
>>
>>26666858
B-but... Erebuster.
>>
>>26666858
>It lets us wave it in his face that it was -his- ship that we stole, crashed, then fixed and started shooting his face with.

Nope nope nope.
Check dis.

We rename it the Hyperion.
Suck it, ringed city!
>>
>>26666887
I'll second that name.

>>26666883
Booo!
>>
>>26666883
We kind of went through that whole "Erebus is dead" thing. Not really a name Shadow would use.
>>
>>26666887
>We rename it the Hyperion.

Just think of all the jokes and grating annoyance every time they have to talk about it, whenever it shows up.

"Sir! Scouts have spotted the Hyperion!"
"Hyperion? He's back? WHERE"
"The airship, sir!"
"Fffffffffff SHAAAAAAAAADOOOOOOWWWWWW!" (richards impression goes here)
>>
>>26666910

Hmn.

better run this by auriel, first.

Equal chances she'll love it or want to kill us for it?
>>
>>26666910
My sides. We are totally renaming it The Hyperion.
>>
I say we keep this ship and the Noiralev, let Noiralev keep its name, but name this ship the ____D____.

so, plans for the Flagship of our burgeoning air fleet...

1) Jump Drive - dedicated power source.
2) Magically Reinforced Adamantium - Power from Core Alpha
3) Shields - Main draw from Core Alpha, dedicated back-up Dynamo
4) Heavy Bombardment Cannons - Power from Core Beta, Multi-Elemental Booster (gives the attack a secondary element)
5) Point Defense Turrets - Main draw from Core Beta, dedicated back-up Dynamo
6) Shadow Sanctum - Shadow Mana Pool. Teleport Keystone locked onto it.
7) Repair Drones - approximately a dozen simple, compact golems specialized in repairing damages to the ship
8) Crew Quarters - everything from bunks to mess halls to recreational facilities.
9) Armory - contains an array of weapons, from bows to swords to spears, both enchanted and mundane, made from steel and Adamantium.

What else should it have?
>>
>>26666910

"Sir! We've recieved a letter from The Shadow! It's offering an alliance against the demon lords ransacking kelvere, and inviting us to a diplomatic summit aboard ..."
"Well! out with it!"
"Aboard his airship, the Hyperion, sir."
"SHAAAAAAAAAADOOOOWWWWWW!"

>>26666982
auriel WILL kill us for that one.

Though, speaking of her, now that we have the band together - we need to get the spirit mages who are here with us to help her train/learn her spirit magic. Last I remember she was kind of... timid/afraid of it.
>>
>>26667010
>auriel WILL kill us for that one.

I think it would be hilarious. We have to at least suggest it - I want to see the looks on Flint and Auriel's faces.
It'll be great.
>>
>>26667010
Yeah, she'd probably be more willing at this point. Though she really doesn't like demons/summoning and Spirit is linked to that. Kind of makes me worried about a confrontation with Abby in the future.
>>
>>26667003
10) A superweapon void beam cannon powered by our own energy in times of need, called The Shadowy Appendage.
>>
>>26667003
>so, plans for the Flagship of our burgeoning air fleet...

If anything, we're 1) limited to the noiralev's hull and 2) if we refit it all, it will take time effort and magic.
But if we do so, we should install a Shadow Chair - its like a captain's chair, except designed to accomodate the hooking-in we did to it during the flight from Ringed City.
So that when we're manning it directly, we can FUEL it directly.

>>26667028
That can be our lead-in to discussing the renaming with our crew.
"So, auriel, you've been with the angels for a long time. You understand how they think, how they act. i want to rename my ship, and send them a message - and I need to run something by you...."
>>
>>26667050
>10) A superweapon void beam cannon powered by our own energy in times of need, called The Descartes

This is a cool discussion and all but half of these suggestions are out of character, and the other half may very well not be possible.

Speaking of cozy settings by /tg/, Skyland was pretty great too.

Sort of relevant too considering where we're going.

Why are all the good QMs NOT basement dwellers?
>>
>>26667554

Because they are successful.

>>26667554
The ability to write a good story must go hand-in-hand with a good social life.

>>26667554

because having a life, friends, and a social life is WHY they write so good, which is why they own so hard
