>Going to start early due to being at a family party, might not update very regularly but I’ll do my best.

You are Yuri Ivanov, a Corporal in the Tesenturian Reserve Corp and well….shit happened to you, after partying with some comrades in celebration for a series of peace treaties and creation of a lasting stable democratic government. Meaning that for the first time in its history will ensure that the neighboring countries will cease hostiles and that the government itself will ensure that it will keep together and not fall from the various factions that once plagued the old one thus ensuring a long awaited peace.

Or at least it should have after being enlisted on a patrol along with several new recruits by your closest friend and now superior Sergeant Maya Salko which took you on the outskirts of the city in which you were ambushed by remnants of an old faction. After a couple of skirmishes with the enemy which left your forces with a few wounded, one dead, and you almost dying by the end of a knife but otherwise the battle was a success. However a strange bright light suddenly envelops the both of you in which you managed save her by pushing her out of the way.

Next thing you know you wake up in a land which you had not spend maybe an hour in, in which you were looked upon as some strange being, been blown up, kissed by some little girl, been branded like cattle, saw flying children, kind of threatened by some older man, and was left to care for said little girl who had kissed you and displaying some sort of spoiled princess routine.

….You could really use some aspirin or booze whichever comes first.

>What do you say or ask to the girl as you walk to…wherever those people went?
>>
>>26684583
"Young lady, could I trouble you for an explanation of just where I am, and what this whole 'Familiar' business is about? Because I'm completely lost here."
>>
>>26684583
Probably should ask about the markings on our arm and what it has to do with being "contracted" as that other guy indicated to us
>>
>>26684583

You scratch the back of your head and take a deep breath. Calm down, calm down, she’s just a kid

However you do need to get some information.

“Ki-“You cut yourself before correcting yourself. “Miss, I called you kid since I don’t know your name Vale, Val-something…”

“Vallere, I come from the prestigious family of Vallere, what backwater-“

“Yeah, Yeah, Family’s royalty, you sip golden teacups I get the guise of it more or less.” You cut her down with a wave of your hand in which she puffs her cheeks up, her hand shaking from holding her-stick thing-almost to detonate another set of explosives…

“Sorry” You quickly cover up eyeing the detonator as you then gesture to your RIC (Reserve Infantry Corp) uniform. “But as you could see, I’m not from around here I was wondering what Tristain is? And what is this ‘familiar’ and ‘contract’ businesses?”

“What you don’t know about Tristain, familiars, and contracts?” She looked at you in surprised before slapping her palm onto her face muttering ‘what kind of country bumpkin did I summon’ and ‘even commoners know better than this’. She then moaned for a few more moments before pulling her hand from her face and then looks at you with a commanding expression.
“I guess it can’t be helped but really even infants know about this common knowledge.” She says as she then explains to you what she can during your walk back.

To paraphrase what she said from what you can understand under a lot of babble that was mixed in or just you not understanding the context, that Tristain is one of five countries in which boast some great magic academy? In which we are headed towards. This Vallere kid and her classmates were out here to do some familiar summoning ritual to summon sort of animal or being to becoming a familiar or servant. Then they make a contract or pact in which an agreement is made with runes to symbolize it.
>>
>>26685804

Like the ones that are branded on your right hand right now.

“As you can see..” She then continues on before you putting up you hand to stop her as you use the other to pinch the bridge of your nose and take a deep breath.

“Ju-Just give me a minute, please.” You managed to manage a sentence together despite the massive amount of information that was just processed and assaulted your common sense.

In short, their so much bullshit you don’t know where to begin.

I feel as though we are going to need to be calm in order to deal with what's to come.
>>
>>26685827
>Ask when and how you can get back home, you got to regroup with your comrades because you are no animal to be leashed and got your own stuff to do
>Ask to get to a high place to get a lay of the land, do we see anyone or anything familiar?
>
>>
>>26685827
You stay quiet throughout the rest of the walk slowly getting your thoughts in line in the form of how, what, when.
How do I get the first place?
Easy Answer to that one is you had to be the hero and save your friend from the bright portal thingy.
You…wonder what they’re doing now? Your mind thinks back to Maya, the recruits did they get back okay? Did they get ambushed again coming back?
And what of your comrade who are probably getting up recovering from their hangover and going back on night duty.

Night duty huh?

You look up in the sky to not see one but two moons as the last vestiges of are slowly receding and revealing not one but two moons!, TWO MOONS! In the night sky.

You always liked watching the moon during night duty, even when you were stuck in the trenches or in fortified position at least it was something nice to look at and made a nice last view if you were cut down by some mortar or gunfire.

But seriously two moons? This is ridiculous!

You briefly wonder if you’re slowly going insane, that this is some long dream and that Tesenturian peace was never made and that you’re in some field hospital somewhere probably getting a limb amputated with a war still going on while being hyped up on morphine and other painkillers to hallucinate all this crazy crap.

Heh, One can only dream.

You then shifted your mind to more important things.

What do you do now, certainly it is getting dark and have to organize some sort of plan to get back. However what the kid told you was more or less an outline in what all of this was about or at least it was that way to you there was too much confusing banter and some contexts you don’t quote get so hopefully this Colbert guy can tell it to you in a blunt manner and maybe figure a way back home.

As to when?
>>
>>26687074

“We’re here” The Vallere kid declares and your mind snaps back to see a large gate leading to an ever larger castle that wouldn’t stand out from any fantasy children picture book.
Your mind wavers at how odd this is but you stand firm, your RIC, Reserve Corp! You may not be overall patriotic and some of the things that happened in the Corp you are not proud or even regret especially concerning a certain incident with Maya but you are proud of its training and its adaptability to new environment and situations.

Needless to say compared to everything else that had happened today you almost expected it.

“Why are you laughing?” The kid pointed out her eyes a little narrowed in disgust or maybe a little confusion as you quickly cover you’re, you must not crack now!. “Let’s go back to my dorm and settle in for the night.”

>What do you say or do

> Follow the pink explosive girl, at this time (what time is it anyway?) he might be asleep

'Man I'm seeing two moons as it is. I'm sure I'm just overly tired and seeing things anyway. Not like I'm going to wake up to two suns or something...right?'

>>
>>26687466
Ask Louise. We can explore on our own as well and get the lay of the land, but this is a freaky fucking magic castle, if we wander around without any direction whatsoever we'll get lost and maybe end up somewhere we really don't want to be, and probably not find Colbert.

Wow
>>
>>26689561
I know why couldn't I roll like this when VMQ was around.
>>
>>26689611
I feel the exact same way. It's always when I need to roll silly/unimportant things.

Also I think it's time to wrap things up and continue our delightful chat which I'm sure will not involve Russian headlocks with Colbert another time.
>>
>>26689639
Your are not Russian you are Tesenturian, A proud nation in which it has desperately defended it's boarders against them, the Chinese and the Middle East ever since it's creation/

Deciding that you might as well get rid of the surprises right off the bat, you’d decided to ask the kid on where Colbert lives.

“Huh? You’re not going with your master? “ She says with a frown her eyes a little twitchy and so is her wand hand.

“Don’t worry I’ll come back…it’s just that he promised me a few things and it’s a man thing.” You say as you make up a haphazard excuse and by some miracle it works as she then nods and gives you directions to Colbert’s house (or rather by Louise’s explanation a shack in which he does ‘experiments’

….Not sure if it’s safe to say you live with your work but then again you often spent time sleeping in a foxhole with explosives either attached to your chest or in a bag near your vicinity. After getting information on where your dorm is you then head straight towards Colbert report without any incident or getting lost in the process.

Then again it wasn’t hard to see a worn out shack in which probably wouldn’t look out of place with a bombed out Tesenturian town and quickly patched up.

You then walk towards the door and then knocked on the door in which after a few moments te doors opens revealing Jean Colbert in his night wear which consisted of grandfather Pjs and a nightcap while hold a candle.

“Oh, Mr.Ivankov I didn’t expect you to see me right away” He says with a serious disposition though is somewhat weakened as he tries to stiffen a yawn before motioning you into his workshop.

As you entered, you are surprised by the various books and a table with what seems to be machinery on a table. As you sit in a small chair he sits in front of you his eyes staring at you almost measuring you before asking.
>>
>>26689890
“What is it you want to ask, I’m sure Miss Vallere has answered some of your questions but I’ll try to fill in some blanks or things you felt it wasn't needed to tell a sixteen year old girl.

You begin to ask the first question that came into mind before it came to a screeching halt.

Wait, that kid…that girl is sixteen?

She doesn't look a year over twelve, thirteen tops!

You then shake your head as you try to focus at the task at hand.

>what do you as Colbert.
>>
>>26689919
Ask him to give us some more information about where we are and what the world is like.
>>
>>26689919

In particular, ask him about familiars and magic.

If he asks, tell him a few things about our world, but leave out the weaponry.
>>
>>26689919
"I like to think that I'm not stupid. And the only explanation that makes sense is that this is not the world I'm from. Or I've gone utterly crazy and this is all in my head, but that's a useless assumption to make.

So I'm going to need an awful lot of information due to the fact that I just got kidnapped from my home. And yes, I am somewhat bitter about that.

What exactly does it mean to be a familiar? Does this contract, which I will remind you was forced on me, have any magical methods of reinforcing itself or forcing me to obey Miss Vallere?

How does magic work? I don't need a full expose, just a basic explanation of it and what it does.

What is the technological level in this world?

What is the current geopolitical situation? Are the various countries at peace or war? How stable is the situation?

How in the hell do I get home?

How is that girl sixteen, I mean have you looked at her? She doesn't even look like a teenager."
>>
>>26689919
"Is it common around there parts to take people from other lands or worlds and force them into servitude by making them into familiars?

I'm going to be honest, that's all kinds of fucked up."
>>
>>26689919
Sorry, Feel asleep but general consensus is to talk about familars and magic (The latter) you barely got a reference of from Louise (and you take with a grain of salt)
>>
OP, can you give some information about why your writing style is the way it is?
I have a few tips for you, but they are pretty trivial and don't make sense if you already do these things:

- Type your posts out in text editor, in a full-screen window. This allows you to have a better grasp of the flow of your text.
- It might be good to step away from the PC for two or three minutes after writing a post. Once you come back, read over it again. Only THEN should you post it.
It also allows you to have a better idea of the content that you are trying to create.
- It seems like you are trying to keep your sentences shorter now. I appreciate that.
- Keep in mind to close all punctuation marks when proof-reading your post. You seem to forget quotation marks and parantheses all the time.

I like your quest on a conceptual level (I simply love Zero no Tsukaima crossovers, even though all of them are shit) and you seem to at least be capable of keeping in character. Becoming better at writing will make your quest much more enjoyable.

Sage for not contributing.

>>26692515

I am, it's just a little hard trying to form the exact dialogue right now.

Also Anon, I'll try to keep this in mind though usually my grammar is not very good to begin with so I'll do my best.

>though usually my grammar is not very good to begin
Just having a good outer form is already helpful.
I read through all of Twilight. And from what I'm told, it had horrible writing, which I didn't even notice.
(In case anyone wonders: I loved the clusterfuck of everyone emotionally abusing everyone while claiming to have the moral high ground. It's fucking hilarious and all the haters just don't know how to enjoy a book)

Opinions, son, opinions...
>>
>>26693298.

You take a moment to compose yourself as you gather your thoughts into a coherent matter. Finally you look to the man in front of you who can give some concrete answers as to what the hell is happening.

“Hear me out Mr.Colbert.” You begin looking at the man with a level gaze though he can probably see through that you’re straining to keep calm. “I’d like to think I’m not stupid but considering the things I seen just recently, I may be considering to file myself for insanity if I can’t make sense of all this right now.”

He nods motioning you to go on he probably as question of his own but is willing to wait for your questions.

“First, what is a familiar I got the gist of it from Pinky but what does a contract and me being here have to do with this?”

“Well I can assume that Miss Vallere has already told you that a familiar assist in its master to perform various duties in which cannot be done by themselves or too menial for them to care.” He explained while you nod in understanding this already before continuing
“Magicians...”

You groan hearing the word you heard this in passing that this is a ‘Magic” academy but sort of filtered it out in some blind hope that it was a misunderstanding or the kid was trying to bust your balls.

I think from what you’ve seen you should know better by now.

Apparently magic is real!

God, if you were a medic you’ll be scarfing down aspirin and painkillers like they were candy.

“You okay?” He asked as you tell him to never mind yourself and continue. “Right, Well magicians have this ritual to summon their familiar in which they make a contract with them.”
>>
>>26694040

He lets out a pain smile. “And after many attempts Miss Vallere succeeded in summoning one.”

Wait, Wait, Wait, the kid did?

“So…the kid brought me over here and…that kiss” You said before trailing off as Colbert finished for you.

“Was the method of the pact and you were contracted.”

“This is bullshit!!” You yelled before standing up from your seat as you begin to boil over and begin to raise an arm at him. You did not train at the age of fifteen like everyone else in your country, went to survive several years of war where many of them did not make it, and to finally see peace in your country only to get Shanghaied to Merlin’s magic funhouse.

Colbert looks at you with mixture of patience and understanding as if dealing with a frustrated child.

This is a magic-

You shuttered a brief moment.

School and seeing that he’s way older than any of the kids, it’s safe to assume he’s a teacher.
A teacher dealing with an unruly student.

You take a deep breath; you’re a soldier a disciplined one at that and taking your frustrations out on someone will not get you anywhere.

…You’ve seen a glimpse of that before and it’s not pretty.

“I’m sorry, please continue.” You finally said after a few tense moments before plopping back in your seat. In response he gazes back at you pausing for a few moments before speaking.

“If it’s any consolation this has not ever happened-“He stops putting his hand on his chin before slowly finishing. “…before?”

He sounded hesitant but you give him the benefit of the doubt considering it has been a long day.

“Well what about magic?” You asked still shuttering at the word and to your surprise he smiles.

“Well if you want to know more, you are welcome to come to the classes I think you’ll have better insight though you must escort Miss Vallere though.”
>>
>>26694088

You frown at this considering that she was the one who brought you here in the first place but relent and say you’ll think about it.

“Great.” He says with a small smile before standing. “While I have some questions of my own to ask of you but I think I have some….research to do so I’ll wait on it till later not to mention that it is late.”

He stiffens a yawn before continuing.

“I still have time for a few more questions though so feel free.”

You decided that you’re satisfied with the explanations for now and quickly left to the dorms.

While the area of the school is big it was not hard to find the dorms which were another large castle-esque tower and after some confusing twist and turns you finally reached the room.
With the pink little girl child sitting her arms crossed and her foot taps impatiently.

“So you’re done” She stated a little annoyance in her voice. “Geez, a familiar is supposed to wait on her master not the other way around well we’ll fix that eventually so got anything to say to your master.”

“Fine then, we’ll talk tomorrow.” She said as she began to remove her uniform. While at any other time like let’s say before any of this magical bullcrap had happened you would have questioned this but frankly you’re just too tired to care.

Not to mention she doesn’t have anything worth mentioning to begin with.

“Hey, where do I sleep?” You asked as she then pointed to a small pile of hay in the corner.

….Well you have slept in worse conditions, you gave a shrug and then pulled out the sleeping bag (which was a glorified blanket and mat) from your standard G.I. kit and placed the rest of your equipment near you for easy access. The kid gives you a questioning look probably due the method of how you’re setting away your stuff but doesn't question it as you crawled inside and instantly knocked out.

The gears of your mind turn as you wake up a bit before dawn judging that the sunlight has not fully come yet a habit that you have grown used to ever since your training days due to necessity in order to shift watch duty or among other things and fear of getting attacked at night. Thankfully now that Tesenturian peace is now achieved you can maybe be able to relax and start sleeping in more without sleeping pills or booze. Now you should get ready and get out of this straw bed.

Wait?

Straw bed….

You take a moment to look at your surroundings to note a fancy medieval-esque room, the straw bed and your sleeping bag you’re currently using, and a much larger bed not too far from you were a pink haired girl was currently sleeping.

You cradle your head with your arms, it wasn't a dream.

The patrol, the ambush, the summoning, the explosion, the kiss, the flying kids, Colbert, and finally sleep.

Your body begins to shake uncontrollably, the cradle hold on your head begins to tighten, and your breathing becomes erratic the thoughts of yesterday’s events assault your mind and virtually your common sense.

No….You cannot lose yourself not now, you are currently in a unknown place with no estimated time or method to get home yet, you are a disciplined solder of the RIC breaking down now is not an option.

Your body begins to relax and the shaking has stopped and your breathing is back to normal.
Good, now we can get to the task at hand.

Although waking the girl might not be a good idea but it looks like she won’t wake up anytime soon.

So you have some time before the sun fully rises or the girl to wake up so…

>What do you do

Deciding that the girl might not be waking up for a while you've decided to scope out the area and familiarize with your surroundings. Under the guise of a light jogging exercise you circled around the school trying to see anything of importance.

The results were mixed…at best.

While you managed to get an idea of the major facilities like the baths, the parts of the castle from an outside view which seem to be a dining room by the smell of the food being sent there, the teacher’s classroom and offices from the older people begin settling their things, and the boys dorm which you can tell due to a few early risers coming out from the castle. In short you managed to make a rough mental outline of the more noticeable parts of the outside.

Anything like points of surveillance, elevations, and places where one can sneak in or hide in case of emergencies however it will have to do for now. By the time you finished you noticed that a few more students are now active and currently headed towards the smell of the food you noticed before and considering the actions of the little girl before it might be best to head back.

However once you returned there was something that was not there before.

It was blue, scaly, wings, and very big.

You feel the gears of your mind slowing down a pace as you recognize the beast.

You remember as a child that you used to read books one of the few luxuries that can be afforded to a child in the war torn country of Tesenturia. You always read of the magical world beyond the bomb shelters, or the craters that sometimes litter the streets. It provided a distraction that a kid would enjoy like picture books of amusement parks and carnivals, old comics of superheroes fighting against evil, and stories of wizard and witches using magic for various means.

However one of your favorite fantasies was always stories about knights of old either fighting with or against dragons. The scaly, mighty beasts that can fly higher than anything else and can defeat anyone with their fiery breath of death. Beings that for you as a boy were an existence above the fighting and can come and go as they please while you were stuck in place.

Ultimately they were just a fantasy that does not exist in reality merely a distraction to help forget for a moment the sounds of gunfire that can be heard from miles away or sounds of planes and tanks filling the road and air to meet the enemy.

It is ironic that the things that you thought of as a mere distraction or fantasy will appear before you many years later.

Especially a being that you always admired as a child.

Though you've thought to meet Louise as soon as possible as the priority but…you were sure she must be still sleeping.

After all girls (Maya being the exception to the rule) always claimed of needing their beauty sleep and surely the girl is still curled in her bed.

It’s not that you want to get a closer look at the dragon or anything but since you’re here taking a few minute detour won’t hurt.
>>
>>26710023

These excuses running through your head as you inch closer to the blue reptile carefully not to make it notice your presence your heart beating excitedly not like in the battlefield but almost back when you were a kid. However your sneaking was in as the dragon perked his head up its emerald eyes staring at you with a mixture of curiosity and...hunger?

Its nostrils expand and contract as it charged towards you and out of reflex you reach for your pistol knowing that your rifle will be no good in this case but then pause as you realize you still didn’t load bullets into the revolver. This pause was enough that any move at this point was useless and you closed your eyes bracing impact and the result was nudging?

You slowly open your eyes to see the dragon using it’s snout to nudge the part of your pack that houses the G.I. kit and your rations.

The standard Tesenturain Military Ration often consisted of some saltine crackers; some can of strange dried mystery meat, a candy bar with the texture of plastic, and a packet of instant coffee.

The taste is edible for the most part to soldiers in the front though after eating it for long period of time will cause major disgruntlement.

You remember one such incident in which you and a friend had to restrain Maya from beating some poor soul with a two week old Ration box in order to get at the fresh produce that was finally delivered to the front.

And this dragon wants to eat it?

What do you do?

>Give a box to it, it’s clearly hungry enough it consider eating it

>Probably not, you are not sure if it’s dragon consumption safe.

One of the first arcs in canon revolves around the "Staff of Destruction", which is actually an LAW.

You decided to give her a box of rations rationalizing that you’re near a source of food and not in any need of serious rationing for now. In the worst case you still have four more boxes even if you do give the dragon one.

With a shrug you decided to open your pack and take out a ration box in which the dragon eyes it with a gleam in its eyes.

“You know, I can’t guarantee for the taste.” You warned the dragon as you wave the box around forcing its eyes to follow the food in anticipation. “Just to clarify your ‘master’ wouldn't get angry if I did give you this?”

You asked the dragon in a joking mood though you had to force yourself to say ‘master’ considering you might be in a similar position if this is not cleared with that kid though you were mostly just speaking out loud since it might not understand….

It nods very energetically in response.

You pause.

“You can understand me?” You asked clearly a little confused on the way it’s responding.

It nods again followed by a “kyuu kyuu” sound.
“…” You stare at in wonder yet again though you didn’t think dragons were stupid back when you read those fantasy books but you didn’t think it understood human speech quite so well either. “So it’s okay”

“Kyuu!” It nods.

Sighing, not wanting to agitate the poor dragon you open the box and open the can of dried meat much to her delight and made small sandwiches with saltine crackers and small bits of chocolate in it. Overall you are slightly unsure add the chocolate into the impromptu sandwich was a good idea but then shrugged considering that you did warn the poor thing.

On a side note you pocketed the instant coffee because…it’s coffee.

You toss one of the sandwiches experimentally at the over grown lizard in which easily swallows it.

“KYUUUU!” It cries out its eyes sparkling in pure delight.

It likes it…

You now begin to wonder if your government was even planning with human consumption in mind.
>>
>>26711951

You then begin to feed the dragon the sandwiches even making it do tricks in the process. Though a part of you is having fun for the first time since coming here…

A piece of your childhood dies inside seeing what you once seen a mysterious majestic creating doing the ‘Roll over, sit, and stay routine’

Losing all track of time you hear a loud almost shrilly voice echoed.

“HEY YOU!” You turn around to see a fuming pink haired kid followed by who you assume to be another magician. She’s has a healthy dark tan and has bright red hair and a well-endowed chest in which she doesn't even bother to cover possibly aware of her own sexuality. “What are you doing here! As my familiar you must escort me at all times! I let you go see Mr.Colbert out of kindness but if you wander on your own then I will have to punish you.”

“My, My, Zero so you really did summon a human as a familiar and he doesn't even listen to you just what I expect from the ‘Zero’” She comments with a small condescending smile as she takes the time to look at you.

I felt an involuntary twitch on my brow before taking another deep breath to calm myself down. I seem to be doing that a lot lately.

“Okay, look, Louise,” You said to the smaller girl pinching the bridge of your nose with your left hand. “I just got here yesterday so I don’t have my head around all this ‘Familiar’ crap just yet, and you’re just, what, assuming I’m magically going to know all this crap I’m supposed to do?”

I mean your mind barely comprehends that you are using your right hand to toss another treat at the blue dragon and then patting its head for doing a good job.

You’ll probably start laughing hysterically if not for the situation at hand.

“But-but.” The girl stuttered as she stamped her foot in the ground. “But that’s what a familiar does, it’s natural for one to do so by instinct.”

“Um, if you hadn't noticed I’m human, a normal flesh and blood human.” You reminded the girl holding back the phrase ‘war-weary’ since she did not have to know that especially with her friend and ‘fido the magic dragon’ here. “I can’t read minds so if you expect me to do something you have talk to me in order to communicate what you want or expect me to do and I’ll consider it.”

After your somewhat impromptu lecture, the girl looked like she as fuming and about to burst into a tantrum.

“Well anyway good morning to you by the way.” You said trying to shift the direction the conversation that will most likely end in more shouting and possibly detonating more explosions on you or something. “We have much to discuss today.”

You then turn to the red head that seems to barely hold her from laughing out right. “So who’s your fri-“

However before you finished you were cut off by the kid as she yells “WE’RE NOT FRIENDS, THE VALLERE AND THE ZERBST FAMILY HAVE BEEN BITTER ENEMIES FOR---“
>>
>>26718731

Your mind begins to slowly shift back towards the dragon as the slowly pat its head and it ‘Kyuu’ in response apparently hitting a sweet spot. Though it wasn't like you were tuning her out you've been through your share of long mission briefings so you learned to filter information if needed. Apparently their family has feuded for a few generations due to the close proximity of their houses and something to do with one family member seducing another somewhere along there leaving a rivalry between the two.

In response you lonely give a nod and an occasional “Sure, Sure” and “I see” which more less agitated her more as she puffs up her cheeks wondering if you even paid attention. However it was at this that Miss Zerbst dam finally broke as she then let out a laugh kind of befitting of noblewomen.

“Oh, I haven’t had a good laugh in such awhile and how you deal with this ‘Zero’ is so hilarious.
She says while wiping a tear off her eye. “Not to mention how you seem to get close to Tabitha’s familiar is also quite interesting.”

She crosses her arms emphasizing her already noticeable bosom and asked. “Do you have a name?”

You decided that since you’re a familiar it might be best that your….partner, yeah let’s go with partner. You are not in your right mind if you’re going to refer to her as master.

“Ki-Miss Vallere.” You say once more catching yourself from referring to how you think of her.

“Since If I understand this relationship isn’t the summoner supposed to introduce the familiar or something right?”

You haphazard this guess due to the fact that if summoning a familiar will probably be some sort of boasting and the fact they normally don’t talk back so might as well keep her some pride.

“Ri-right.” She nods as she puts a hand on her chest and declares. “This is my human familiar….uh?”

Her eyes then widens as she looks back to me with a look of realization in her face.
You’re kidding me…

She doesn't know your name?

In hindsight she never really asked and you were too busy in trying to find out what the hell just happened to really tell her.

“Ohohoho” The Zerbst laughed once more probably figuring the same thing you did. “You didn’t name your familiar, does he even have one as should have expected this from the ‘Zero’.”

Her laughter still continuing as she snaps her fingers and suddenly a large red lizard with its tail on fire appears crawling towards her. She then proceeds to pet it with no small amount of smugness to the gesture. “This is Flame, she’s a fire salamander from the fire dragon mountains and-“

You interrupt her as you toss a bit of ration sandwich much to the dragon’s despair at the lizard as it charges forward to grab the snack cutting her off.

Now you’re really worried seeing that the lizard is eating treat with such enthusiasm that you really wonder if these were made for human consumption.

“Well….” The Buxom red head blinked in surprise. “Now I can how you managed to grab Tabitha’s familiar attention….Mister?”
>>
>>26721743

“A pleasure.” She smiled before turning around and heading towards the cafeteria as each step she take you can tell she’s moving her hip purposely in a seducing manner and with a wave of her. “My name is Kirche the Ardent do remember my name.”

And with that she was gone.

Well that was certainly interesting you stared at her for a moment longer before turning back to the little girl who seems to be at critical mass from what is likely anger and embarrassment.

Well your plan has more or less backfired on this girl.

“Um, Miss Vallere…” You said slowly as you reach out to her but stop as you suddenly see her hand reaching for her wand.

Not good, you have to think quick or else you may end up losing a limb.

Then you a though occurs to it may be a long shot but it’s better than nothing.

“Miss Vallere, you are a noble am I correct!” You in a loud firm manner similar to what your drill instructor used to do minus the bottle of vodka and the boxing glove….

But you’re digressing so let’s get back to the point.

“Oh course I am but!” She immediately tries to rebuttal but you cut her off.

“You’re ashamed and embarrassed in front of your rival no less due to not asking your familiar’s name!”

“o-Of Course! And-“You cut her off once more.
“However this is the reaction she wants you to have!” You explain making her eyes widen in surprise. “To make you shout and scream like a child, to make a tantrum and a scene so others will think of you as the same way!”

You take a step forward to embolden yourself as you continue. “Now as a noble is this proper behavior to uphold?”

“…no”

“Is it proper behavior for a noble to cry over every mistake?”

“No…”

“Is it proper that a noble especially that for the House of Vallere to rise up over such with dignity and poise!”

“Yes!” She shouts he small body shaking not out of purely anger but restraint and pride. “As a member of the House of Vallere so of course such things wouldn't bo-bother me at all”

She was clearly struggling but she’s not blowing everything up so that’s a good sign though you feel a little bad at manipulating her pride like that but you try to comfort yourself by saying it was for the better good.

It was either her pride or your limbs afterall.
You gave her a pat on the back in which she immediately shrugged off. “I do not take pity from a commoner!”
>>
>>26725135

Oh okay, she still a bit snippy but maybe a more ‘proper’ introduction.

“I never did give a proper introduction did I?” You said offhandedly as she responded with a snort, elegant indeed.

“No need, I already heard it when you told your name to that Zerbst degenerate.” She said and turned her head away from you.

“Ah but I never gave her a full introduction though.” You said as a matter of fact and see looks at you with a glare.

“Don’t tell me you gave her a fake name.”

“Not at all.” You replied with a wave of your hand. “Only a part of it.”

“Oh really, then what is it?” She asked taking the bait.

You then stand at attention according to military protocol and practice though I avoided saluting her since she’s is not a commanding officer. “Corporal Yuri Ivanov member of the Reserve Corp to the Tesenturia Government.”

“A soldier?” She asked a little confused before a bigger question appeared. “Tesenturia?, What is that?”

“My home country.” You replied still in your stance.

“I never heard of such a country…” She shook her head before a sound erupted from her stomach in which her face reddens again

“Breakfast?”

“Breakfast, we’ll finish tis later.” She finished as she began to walk towards the cafeteria and you slowly followed until you felt a small tug on your pack and turn to see the blue dragon holding you back.

“Sorry but I ran out.” You smiled apologetically as you pat the dragon’s head with your right hand while the other emphasizes that you ran out by shaking the empty ration box. “I have others but I need them in case of an emergency.”

“Kyuu.” Its eyes start to water a little clearly disappointed in which to be honest with yourself you feel a little bad.
>>
>>26725163

“There, There.” You soothed the dragon. “Tell you what, If I find anything tasty I’ll give you some.”

This immediately perks it up as its eyes now glisten with happiness and gives you a long lick of its tongue covering you in saliva.

Ugh, you’re happy it’s happy but still…

“Okay, see ya.” You said your goodbyes to the dragon and followed her to the cafeteria.

….

Once you get there and are now dried of dragon’s spit you’re explained that it is a Dining Hall not a cafeteria not that made it made much of a difference but you let it go. You we’re then explained that the Dining Hall was divided by three who sit tables by the corresponding year excluding the teacher who sits on an upper level. The kid is seated in the middle since she is a second year much to your surprise since despite knowing her real age this only helps cement the fact she might be a sixteen year old girl.

Your first thought to this is because she is malnourished as a noble but those thoughts were quickly dashed as you saw the food served on those tables.

Needless to say being malnourished was the least of their problems as just looking at the spread was enough to make your mouth water.
So after being instructed to help seat her in you were to seat beside her and eat but were stopped by the pink haired kid who then pointed to a bowl on the floor

…with a piece of hard bread and some watery soup with bits of meat in it.

You turn to the girl with a small glare of your own in which in turn responded. “Normally, familiars stay outside of the dining room so I had to specifically request it which was not easy.”

“And the food?”

“Normally because you are a commoner and I can’t just spoil you outright.” Louise explained her line of reasoning as she coolly turns to you. “Also I’m still a little angry that you humiliated me in front of the scion of the Zerbst family.”

Raise an eyebrow at her. Keep our voice low so that others don't overhear.

"Miss Vallere, would you mind informing me how much humiliation and shame would be placed upon you and your family should your familiar act out in full view of everyone here? I don't think either of us want to find out.

I am willing to be polite and cordial and play by the rules your society has set up. If you treat me with a modicum of respect and kindness I will cooperate with you.

However I am utterly unwilling to be treated as an animal.

So one of two things will happen. I will either be seated at the table as befits a human being and eat from the same spread as everyone else and I will behave myself, or I be granted food from the table and go and eat with the dragon, the dragon who seems to be the most agreeable company I have found here so far."

You brow twitches though the food in front of you is better than what rations you received in the front and your fine with that however to sit on the floor while everyone else if eating food several grades above you in a table, is almost insulting. Even the officers’ of the regular army back home didn’t have the balls for that and kept to the officer’s quarters when mealtime came.

Not after a few masked individuals wielding a M14, a Springfield Model 1863 Rifled Musket, A Mosin Nagant, and a box of military rations came and mugged a few of these officers that tried. Those who were accused even yourself included who did not ‘know’ anything of said mugging was dropped of the charges and eventually others who were accused (mostly members of the Reserve Corp) of the same crime were dropped as well.

No one knew who were these individuals and were never caught at least by those regulars.
However just like back then this cannot be tolerated (though you had no part of it).

"Miss Vallière, does your family make your butler and maids eat off of the floor like dogs as well?" You asked with whisper in which no one but you and her could hear and a small glare in which was returned to only the two of you.

“No, but they are employed under the Valliere family and so…” She was trying to explain but was cut off by you.

“Are Human beings like me. I know that I’m a…” You pause for a moment trying to say the word until now you referred either something else or as a third-person never as yourself. “Familiar but I am still a human and would like to be treated as such and not like an animal grabbing for scraps in the floor.”

“What do you want me to do about it then?” She asks her eyes still levered to yours. “If you’re asking to be seated at the table then no luck since it’s only reserved for students.”
>>
>>26727383

“That’s fine, at least let me sit in the courtyard or in the servants quarters or whatever even sitting next to the dragon is better than sitting in the floor like a feral beggar.” You bargained not slipping out that you are getting a little annoyed at seeing little brats eating delicious food while you are on the floor with a less than stellar meal.

“Fine, but you’re not getting any of the food on the table your still being punished.” Se relents as she returns to her breakfast and you agreed.

Highest Roll: 18

That you’ll get any food on the ‘table’ but swiping said food in which is not technically on the ‘table’ but in your hand or your pack so you’re not technically lying.

Though the kid might was weary in the beginning she let her guard down as you ate your watery soup and hard bread however when she did you managed to swipe more than your fill especially this soufflé that you managed to take from some pretty blond boy’s plate when he wasn’t looking and didn’t notice you at all. You even managed to stuff enough food in your pack that even the dragon will enjoy.

This was easier than taking officer rations from the regular army (which is only a metaphor and which you did not participate directly or indirectly which said crime.
---

After eating your fill you and the kid went to her first class together in which since you’re a familiar are able to escort her to. What amazes you is that once you entered was something similar to a large briefing room that was converted from a college lecturing hall you have once been to. In there were a large array of animals to the more common cats, owls, and toads to more exotic creature like the Zerbst’s Salamander and some….Lovecraftian eyeball monster thing that the kid told you was a bugbear.

You try not to stare at it too much because you feared it’s looking into your soul.
>>
>>26727405

Well since you are technically like them you were not allowed a seat so you opted to stand in military fashion being the kid who earned the laughter and mocking from her classmates. Though except the Zerbst girl who surrounded by boys vying for her affection only gave an amused smile and only gave the two of you a slight wave before proceeding to talk to some smaller blue haired girl with glasses reading a book.

When the teacher, a middle aged woman named Ms. Chevreuse the Red Clay the lessons finally began.

Colbert was right in attending the class in which you took note of the ‘magic’ of this world. Though filtering the teacher’s lecture you remember that they’re five elements which were fire, water, earth, air and void the last one bring a lost art. You also learned that these elements can be stacked together to perform more powerful spells like transforming any base metal into gold and etc. There was also something that classifies the power in which it has something to do with dots or shapes that you couldn’t get a grasp off due the class increased rowdiness in mocking the pink haired kid in which she ended up arguing with some fat kid.
Ms. Chevreuse tried to calm the class and to the point of sticking red clay into some of their cheeks just like in her namesake. However there was still some grumbling and even accusations that I was some paid thug to pretend I was a familiar in which at that point, Ms. Chevreuse gave the kid a chance to do magic to prove them wrong.

That was when everything became silent.

That was eventually replaced with protest and fear even the Zerbst girl who was mocking the kid earlier this morning was warning the teacher not to do it due to what the kid was capable of. Still despite it all probably spurned on due to the negative comments she accepted the challenge.

On a side note the one with blue hair and glasses that was reading the book besides the buxom women promptly walked out.

Your training as a Combat Engineer kicked in as you suddenly dove under the desk planting your hands over your head for protection and as soon as you do a loud explosion could be heard echoing across the room. After a few moments when you thought it was safe you popped your head over to see the damage.

In short it was total chaos.

The familiars were started and were going out of control, the students who were not unconscious from the blast desperately trying to reel them in, the poor teacher unconscious on the ground which was ground zero. As for the kid while being on the verge of indecent and covered in soot she seems to be okay even saying that it was a ‘mishap’.

When you take a look at all the property damage you can safely say as a professional that this is a little more than just a mishap.

What do you say or do?

You've decided to wait it out since considering the amount of work she has to clean will take forever not to mention you might as well use the time to talk to her about a few things as well. So you tuck yourself back under the desk unless someone will see you and maybe insist that the kid will do the work alone.

And sure enough after the dust has cleared and the teacher woke up she immediately scolded the kid for ‘reckless magic’ and as you predicted she was sentence to clean up the entire room without the use of magic.
You hear her go up the stairs and announced that classes were cancelled for today and dismissed the students. Once the sound of student’s footsteps was gone and thinking the coast is now clear you pull yourself out of your hiding spot.

“So you need any help?” You asked the kid who seemed to have cleaned up and managed to get a spare uniform from somewhere.

“The teacher told me not to rely on any magic.” She mumbled as she grabbed a nearby broom to sweep the floor.

“Well technically I’m not magically just a normal human.” You countered as you looked around to see if there was any debris to clear. “Also since no one here you can say you did alone so you won’t get in trouble.”

She then became quiet for a moment probably weighing her options before finally relenting and tosses you another broom.

As you begin to clear the damaged goods and sweep the soot off the walls and floor in a military precision. However you were being very weary since you might be dealing with magical stuff and while there may not be another explosion you are careful nonetheless.

“Hey” You called the girl as she picks up pieces of the exploded desk while you handle the more bulky work. “I’m glad you’re alright. This sort of thing happens often in this school?”

Her head lowers clearly sulking about what had happened.

“You know what Kirche and the others always call me Zero.” She says slowly almost in the same tempo as the broom she is using to sweep.

You shrugged as you clear out more of the room.

“It’s because every spell I cast has zero successes.”

“What about the spell that you used on me so that I can understand you?” You asked though you have an idea of what the answer to that might be.

“Mr.Colbert said to be careful when you pulled that metal toy.” She explained as she pulled her wand and twirls it around in a mock cast. “And since you were my familiar it was my duty to rein you in and shut your yap.”

“So the spell…”

“Yeah, was a failure.”

“Actually was a success…” You muttered putting a hand your chin in thought.

“What?” She asked surprised as she drops the broom in her hand.

“I told you that I was-am a soldier.” You pointed out as I continued. “That was trained in Combat Engineering.”

“Combat Engineering?”

“My main duty besides fighting was to construct fortifications; clear them, disarm, and arm explosives.”

“Explosives…?” She repeated clearly confused in which you nod.
>>
>>26730745

“Yes explosives which mean I know a thing or two about blowing things up.” You continued to explain further. “What you did to me back then were more or less similar to a stun grenade in terms of its purpose is non-lethal but is more like a concussion grenade in its nature.”

You mumble as you think about the properties of the explosion and the differences between the one used on yourself and the ones used on the stones.

“Then what does that mean?” Louise asked as she now grabbed your arms now seeing some form of hope. “Does that mean, I can properly do magic!”

“I do not know.” You stated bluntly as he hopeful eyes now dashed to disappointment. “I do not know magic and the property I know of that of science so it may not be applicable to each other.”

“Then what should I do?” She slumps down the soot dirtying her uniform.

Seconding this.

Make sure to start with smallest/weakest spell possible. Also need a safe area away from others to practice at (anywhere inside is right out. Explosions are more dangerous in enclosed spaces after all. Also she gets riled by others easily, so she may concentrate better with as few hecklers as possible).

"Well one theory is that you naturally use the Void element. I mean you have probably tried spells from every other element. What I don't get is why they think it is funny that you cause explosions. “That means you need practice.” I responded while scratching the back of my head.

“Probably.”

“What do you think I’ve been doing all my life!” She responded back suddenly standing back up to face you. “All I wanted to be is successful at magic to live up to my noble title and linage but…but…every time it always blows up in my face.”

“Then perhaps you’re looking at this the wrong way or at least practice-wise.” You stated coolly before explaining further. “Did you try to figure out the nature of why they explode?”

“No, but that’s because there were a failure.”

“If you were truly a failure at this magic stuff then you would have not cast anything at all.” You pointed out. “Just because the explosion prematurely happens doesn't mean necessary there is a problem with the explosive itself but something with the wiring, the timer, or the detonator so if you find the something off with the mechanics then you find the problem.”

She tilted her head in confusion at the terminology that you used but tries to grab the context nonetheless. “So if I try to find why I make things explode…”

“Then you can find the problem so it can be fixed.” You finish for her. “If nothing else you can use this practice to figure out how your explosions work, and try to find a use for them.”

She stays silent for a moment probably contemplating over what you said.

When Louise tries to search about her explosions try to subtly gain as much information from magic as you can to discern what you're up against. This will grant you the perfect excuse to get knowledge from different areas of magic without suspicion.

Even if we find a solution we do not tell her, after all, she did kind of kidnap you and you can milk information from this ordeal.

As a combat engineer, what's the extent of our technological and egineering knowledge?

Could we jury-rig a steam engine? Make our own gunpowder? Cast a rudimentary Cannon?
Or are we just limited to repairs to existing devices?
>>
>>26739867
Even with our existing devices, if we can find someone to duplicate them (like a powerful earth mage) we might have enough firepower to kill just about anyone. Black powder muskets are about the extent of what the Tristanians have, so if we can get someone to manufacture mosin's we should be good. As an added plus, mosin's are capable of standing up to the pressures exerted by a black powder loaded cartridge.

By the time they finished cleaning it was a couple of hours before lunchtime so you escorted the kid back to her dorm room. Once you arrived at the dorm you told her that you have some things to do and you both agreed to meet at the courtyard before lunch.

Taking this moment of free time you decided to do an equipment check on all weapons and supplies will be a good idea since you never had a chance since you got here. So once you find a nice secluded spot you unpacked your equipment and gave it a once over.

Light Weight Body Armor: Built for maneuverability it can stop sidearm ammunition easily and to some extent rifle rounds as well to a much lesser extent.

Combat Engineering Kit: A standard engineering kit used for quick repairs and help set up minor defenses/fortifications.

Demolition Kit: Equipped to help set up or defuse explosives it comes with pliers, wirecutters, a mine detector, and a few pounds of c4, etc.

2 RGD-5 Grenades

3 RDG-2 Smoke Grenades

Standard Military Kit: Sleeping bag, tin Cup, 6 Days’ worth of Military Rations, Coffee packet, poncho, and leftovers from breakfast.

Judging that your equipment is satisfactory, you take a look at your rifle and side arm to see if there was any damage on their part. While you did check your rifle when Louise blew you up it was only a once over but after a more in depth look and cleaning your relieved that it is still in functional order. Even the Bayonet which is still clean and can still attach to the rifle.

The revolver the one Maya gave you, the one you resolved to give back to her after the patrol, you suddenly grip its familiar bloodstained handle.

It’s cleaned...as much as it could be.

It functions well…after the abuse.

You gave a mental sigh, it seems Maya did take good care of this for you and then clear her mind of her as you gave a final look at your cleaned weaponry.

You then packed up all your equipment and decided that maybe since this is a school there may be a library of sorts. Your curiosity peeks at what type of books a ‘magic’ school will have and maybe we can find something that can help the kid as well.

Highest Roll: 16

You then venture forth to find the library and while you have no idea what the interior of the Castle-like school and no directory in sight you asked directions from one of the local maids. The maid gave easy instructions on how to get there and while you may have taken a wrong turn or two, you've managed to get there without much difficulty.

Unfortunately however once you started to browse through the selection, you’d realize a major problem.

You can’t understand the writings.

While it seems you can recognize the alphabet they may be using but the wording is nothing but gibberish to you. Seeing that this is a useless venture you have to think of something else.

>What do you do?

>Go meet Louise ahead of time and wait in the courtyard

>Do something else?
>>
>>26740444
>What do?
I say we go to Colbert and pester him with questions about this world. We still have no idea what we've landed in, apart from the fact that there's magic and this school teaches it.
>>
>>26740444
Visit Colbert and ask questions about the world and the races in it, common creatures, basic knowledge that people here don't really think about.

Or go and visit the dragon and spend time making friends with it, you never know when a friendly dragon is going to be useful.
>>
>>26740444
Visit Colbert find out how to get back home. Being forced into slavery is fun an- wait no not fun the other one HORRIBLE thats the one. We want to get out of this situation ASAP.

Well, we're a twenty-something soldier, not a 14 year old kid, so we're not really as manipulable or under control as the canon protag was. I mean, we just essentially told Louise that we were going to the library and she just let us.
>>
>>26739867
Well, just about anyone could make a simple steam engine after seeing it once since it only really requires less moving parts than a repeating crossbow.

Considering the level of technological developement, if you find a guy who makes clockwork parts, you can replicate most of WW1 tech since you've got a guy who can make accurately measured metal parts.
>>
>>26740616
I agree, once the shock wears off we will realized that a veteran soldier has just been forced into slavery by a tiny, horrible human being. We just have to NOPE it out of there and never return. Once we are free, we can start the revolution. Fighting is in our blood after all.

Hell, we have in our possession all the tools we need to assassinate a monarch.

Mosin Nagant? favored weapon of the most prolific sniper in the world.

Grenade? Looks like something harmless to them, can insta-gib a group of people.

C4? We can kill one of those fancy flying boats if we manage to plant some. Or we can raze a castle for that matter.

TL;DR= If we get our shit together we can become a stealth God of War.
>>
>>26739867
You specialized in construction and demolition.

You can perhaps patch some existing equipment but besides some basic ideas or concepts, you can't quite make something like a engine or complex gun. Not without research and lots of material
>>
Visit Colbert and tell him that you want to go home and ask him jokingly if he wants to help you pioneer interplanetary space travel.
>>
>>26740788
>>26740766

The real beauty of this situation is that we don't really need to be near the little pink terror. Hell, if we pimp our ideas out to the highest bidder we could conceivably jump start military tech ahead a few hundred years. If we get a country interested in our ides we could have them working on building bolt action rifles and WWI style tanks within a few months. Magic does go a long way. Whats more, we wouldn't need to necessarily build a working engine or anything like that, we could give them the idea, and then work as a kind of R&D director figuring out what kinds of magitec combination works best.
>>
>>26740788
So visit Colbert is a go?

Give me a roll
>>
>>26740788
Not to mention that if we decide to side with the local monarchy we can teach them about proper Field fortifications, strategic mobility (assuming we have a basic grip on logistics, which we should as an engineer), and even though we aren't a medic we should be able to explain the basic logic of having field hospitals and medical attachés.

Poor OP, only 3 threads in and we're already planning large scale disruption of the established setting.

Well, you probably could make a steam engine yourself just by looking at it.

It's really just a piston attached to a wheel and a blast chamber attached to an air tight water tank.
There literally are like 3 moving parts in the entire thing in it's simplest form.

Piston has two moving parts and it's attached to a wheel so that makes two.
Afterwards you just start attaching stuff to the wheel.

Of course considering it's a primitive engine it won't grant you much power unless can make it sturdier, lighter and larger.

I...somewhat suspected this however to such a scale is somewhat frightening though I'm sure it won't go that far depending on the route we go due to someone's mother

True but the old steam engines still require material we do not have on our person, and currently do not need at the moment.

Also the first steam engines had a tendency to explode if not careful, something you are not looking forward too.

NO, destabilizing the setting is a very good thing, we were press-ganged into slavery for christsakes. Plus, if OP does choose to let us run wild it would be a marked improvement over the established story path.

But if OP decides to follow the story, I say we act like the war weary soldier we are. For instance, if we are shoehorned into fighting the blond fop, I say we kill him with the hand-nugget, not questions asked. (I'm assuming that if OP chooses this path we won't get to refuse the duel)

We need to get it through our heads that we are a single man in a land where children can kill us for sneezing on them without repercussions, they all see us as filth beneath their toes.

Thats ok though, our whole lives we've been shit on by others, our country ravaged by bullies hell bent on owning our little scrap of earth. We beat them back, we made them bleed for our land so much that they all eventually gave up. We are part of that steel-soul legacy, and fuck anyone who looks down upon us, who treats us like shit.
>>
Rolled 14

>>26741211
We shouldn't kill anyone, especially not children. If we want to change anything we have to capture both the minds and the hearts of the public, and we're not going to get that if we gib some arrogant twat over a ceremonial duel.

War crimes are war crimes, anon-kun!

And? There is not Geneva convention here. Those children have within them the power to kill us with a single word, they treat common folk like slaves, and they certainly won't give you the same respect you give them.

The duel with blondy? The little shit embarrassed himself and felt the need to beat a random commoner to death to sooth his bruised ego. You think getting punched by a metal golem won't hurt? More importantly, you think anyone would care as you bleed out into the ground? In the original story, when Saito put up a fight the blond one immediately switched to golems armed with axes and swords. If we see a metal monster coming at us with the intent to harm us, we will eliminate the problem.

We are not a Marine or a Spetsnaz comando, we are a man trained from puberty to fight and kill. We started off as a child soldier in a country beset on all sides by enemies much better equipped and far outnumbering us. Car bombs from the Middle East, shelling from China, and airstrikes from Russia were the bread and butter of our adolescence.

Eliminate the Golemns, threaten the blondy. The fact of the matter is that if we kill anyone it's going to come down on us like a ton of bricks. Do you think any of the teachers will tolerate us to live after that? we'd get our shit kicked in before you could say revolution.

There's no need to be so blatantly antagonistic so soon. We won't descend to their level, if we want to spread the ideals of our homeworld to here, we have to uphold them ourselves.
>>
>>26741393
I agree with the fact that whenever somebody projects lethal force to us, we respond in kind.
Shoot them to the hand they use to cast spells with if they're somebody that matters, they can fix that shit anyways.

I think we should keep the grenades for a time when we need to repaint the walls with a larger group huddled together or just against targets impervious to bullets.
>>
>>26741138
Guys, I have to head out for something, I'll be back as soon as I can.
>>
>>26741516
We're not even in fight with the guy yet though, so no need to worry about that just yet.

If it seems like he tries to actually take our lives, we respond in kind.
However, unlike Saito, we probably won't end up in that situation to begin with because Ivanov is relatively sensible man who has a will to survive.

He probably would reject the entire duel outright even if he was challenged considering that so far he has nothing he needs to defend in here and the aftermath no matter which way it ended, would lead into so much problems that it just wouldn't be worth it.

You are a soldier and you don't show off when it comes to killing and this means he would most likely die.

You guys all raise good points. Looking back on what I wrote it does come across as a little too violent. What I was trying to convey was that the MC has a very different mindset than the original protagonist of the story. As a man raised in a perpetually war torn country, and as a child soldier to boot, our decisions can reflect that ruthless pragmatism that we have ingrained into our soul. I imagine that a combat engineer in this kind of fighting force received extensive training surrounding IED's, how to damage supply lines, and all kinds of traps. A small country fighting a bloody guerrilla war against invaders should have churned out quite the soldier.
>>
I vote we don't kill anyone.
Not yet anyways

Right now we're a nobody that somebody could just kill in an alleyway and he probably could get away with it because we're an outsider nobody would miss.

I say that if we are ever challenged to a fight or duel, we should show our opponent that we mean business.

We don't kill Guiche. We beat the crap out of him, and then teach him the art of rugged, Eastern-European manliness. It's not his fault he grew up sheltered from the real world. Also, we need to see if acoustic guitars are a thing yet.

You decided to look for Mr.Colbert since as of right now he seems to be the one who knows all the answer.

If only you can find the bald bastard!

You checked his workshop and from what the people you asked for directions to his classrooms which ended up empty and no one really knows where he went. You had more questions for him and it seemed he wanted to ask some as well but for him to suddenly be gone?

Dammit, where the hell could he…Ow!

You wince as you grabbed the shin of your right leg and hopped on your left due to the sharp pain.

“Oh, I’m sorry I wasn’t paying attention.” A maid apologizes as she runs up from behind a cart that apparently hit you. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, Yeah, I’m fine.” You ensured her after taking a deep breath before setting your foot down before smiling at the maid. “See? All better.”

“I’m relieved.” She places a hand on her chest obviously letting go of a breath she’s obviously been holding before looking at you more closely. “I never seen you here before are you new here?”

“Eh, you could say that.” You replied scratching the back of your head. “Name’s Yuri Ivanov.”

“My name is Siesta.” She says with a smile before her eyes widen in some sort of realization. “Wait, Are you the human familiar everyone is talking about?”

“Huh, everyone is talking about me?” You asked wearily not liking the idea of people ‘talking’ about him, normally that means it could be a good or bad thing.

And you’re sure you haven’t done anything good lately.

“Oh, don’t worry.” The maid obviously picked up your tone. “It’s just we heard Miss Valliere has summoned a human commoner, it’s nothing bad just us help gossiping.”

Well you guess you can take some comfort in that. “By the way have you seen Mr.Colbert?”
She responds with a shake of her head and you in response give a frustrated sigh.

“Well I best be off then nice to meet you.”
Siesta said as she tries to push the heavy food cart which is filled with foodstuffs and delicate deserts which is probably the reason she accidentally bumped into you being too focused on sending them to their consumers to watch what was ahead of her.

Then again neither were you focusing on trying to find that professor.

>What do you do?

You decided that since you were going in the same direction as her and you’re not sure where Colbert was, you’ve decided to help her out.

“Thank you.” She smiled as she accepted your offer to help and handle you several trays filled with desserts, sandwiches, and lunches. “Now shall we be off?”

Over the course of the short trip there you asked her various things she heard from the gossip. What you received was mostly a bunch of meaningless nonsense and bullshit such as the old headmaster sexually harassing his secretary and some blond kid is two timing two girls.

Highest Roll 16

However what you did pick up from your filter was some Phantom Thief was stealing from the nobles of their various jewels and other valuables.

The real reason for you picking that up was less about interest and more from the fact that you are pocketing various biscuits, sandwiches, and a whole Soufflé into your pack. You briefly wonder if dragons could eat this but shrugged thinking that if it could eat your rations with glee then this should be just fine.

When you finally get to the courtyard and do not see Louise yet probably due to you being a bit early.

As you and Siesta distribute the various meals and deserts for the nobles who decided that eating in the courtyard in such a sunny day will be nice, you’d take a moment to relax seeing some of these kids enjoying and chatting peacefully in their respectful picnics.

You almost feel bad for taking some of their food.

‘Almost’ being the keyword here.

Then as you bring the next set of trays to distribute to the next group of nobles you overheard their conversation.

"So, Guiche! Who're you going out with now?"

"Who's your lover, Guiche?"

A small group of nobles kids in which they were jokingly press the boy in the center about his love life.
>>
>>26747798

"'Go out?' I hold no one woman in such special regard. After all, a rose blooms for the pleasure of many." The one in the center proudly proclaimed while doing various poses with a rose in his teeth leaving you rather speechless.

How can someone say something like that purposely without feeling humiliated?

Well you can at least give him some credit he has great taste in Soufflé.

When you were about to leave this group you notice that out of the many poses her was doing a small vial fell out of his pocket and rolled towards your feet.

What do you say or do?
>>
>>26747804
Pick it up, take a look at it.

"Hey, Guiche is it? You dropped this."
