You are the voices in Scott Yellowman's head. Scott is currently infiltrating the central CORT facility to get the prize hidden away in their high security storage area. You are accompanied by your old pal Corporal Burton, a paladin from the Grand Crusade, an ex-bouncer named Charlie, and your faithful minion Fat-Fot-Pot.Currently you are in a storage room full of various electronics, with six signals on your motion tracker coming at you from all directions. The distant sounds of inhuman roaring and scrabbling claws probably means they're not here to say hello."The next floor's too deep for my sword to cut through!" Elyse reports, pulling her sword from the ground. "We'll need to find the conventional way down!""That's nice, but we've got a welcome wagon incoming!" Scott says, tapping the tracker on his helmet."So what? There are three doors around here, pick one and let's get moving!" Charlie says."We're invisible anyway, just stay quiet for a few minutes and whatever it is will forget we're here!" Burton says. "I bet they just heard the noise.""Stay or go, which are we doing?" Elyse asks, looking from the doors to Scott.Last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26739627/Scotthttp://pastebin.com/80icAktCElysehttp://pastebin.com/Szz1ZEzXCharliehttp://pastebin.com/mvs87SkZFFPhttp://pastebin.com/EA0d1LdJSummary Cardhttp://pastebin.com/CMRBUjSB
Elyse, do you have any experience with this spell?http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Move_Earth
Although, the old AD&D Dig spell would likely be more effective.Dig (Evocation)Level: 4 Components: V, S, M Range: 3" Casting Time: 4 segments Duration: 1 round/level Saving Throw: Special Area of Effect: 5' cube per level of the magic-userExplanation/Description: A Dig spell enables the caster to excavate 125 cubic feet of earth, sand, or mud per round. The hole thus dug is a cube 5' per side. The material thrown from the excavation scatters evenly around the pit. If the magic-user continues downward beyond 5', there is a chance that the pit will collapse: 15%/additional 5' in depth in earth, 35%/additional 5' depth in sand, and 55%/additional 5' depth in mud. Any creature at the edge (1') such a pit uses its dexterity score as a saving throw to avoid falling into the hole with a score equal to or less than the dexterity meaning that a fall was avoided. Any creature moving rapidly towards a pit area will fall in unless it saves versus magic. Any creature caught in the centre of a pit just dug will always fall in. The spell caster uses a miniature shovel and tiny bucket to activate a Dig spell and must continue to hold these material components while each pit is excavated.

>>26865602>>26865584"All right, let's get going. Middle door, let's get out of here while we can," Scott says, walking up to the aforementioned door and flinging it wide. It opens into a long metal hall, with a horribly deformed man bounding towards you. The man's skin bulges with several carapace-like cancerous growths, the largest of which gives him a large humpback. He is on all fours, his arms mutated into large wicked-looking claws. His face is twisted into something less than human, a bestial visage with features that look like something a child might sculpt from clay... poorly. The once man continues to advance as you hear something begin to crash against the other doors in the room you have left.
>>26865602Look for loot while enemies are breathing down our throats? Time to distribute tasks.

By sheer DUMB LUCK the bullets hit home anyway, shredding the monster before it can close to melee without nearly a sound. The creature collapses as the others book it over the once-man's corpse. Yellowman takes a moment to be thankful no one can see him or his screw-up, then follows after."Good aim, Scott! You hit all his vitals!" Elyse whispers as the group moves on."Y-yeah. >>26867345>>26867052>48, 88, 14Kept safe by the sphere of invisibility around them, Scott and company wind and wheedle their way through numerous halls and room, this floor a veritable labyrinth. Several times they move silently past barricades set up by CORT soldiers, or sneak away from running battles between the troopers and the cultists. From the way the fighting is going, it seems like CORT is slowly but surely regaining control of their facility from the crazed invaders. Muttering gibberish, men in robes armed only with knives rush machine gun positions only to be gunned down. Men in patchwork body armor armed with battered AKs fire from corners at lines of ballistic shields backed with assault rifles. The hiss of gas grenades going off fills the air.And through it all, Scott and his friends pass unnoticed, leaving the chaos of battle behind them.>88Some amount of luck is with them as they managed to find a large chamber with a heavily guarded elevator going down. Sandbags and machine guns have been set up along all hallways, and it's clear this area is a chokepoint for whatever defensive plan CORT has. Silent and unseen, Scott and company sneak past the twenty soldiers carefully keeping watch, and activate the elevator. The soldiers whirl, but seeing nothing in the elevator as the doors close, they chalk it up to the car being called down.>24The elevator suddenly shakes as several loud explosions rock the area. A few minutes afterward, a 'tik-tik-tik' sound can be heard. The sound of claws on metal.Scott's motion tracker begins to go off. Four signals advancing on the elevator from all sides.

Rolled 26, 18 = 44>>26868333Yellowman fires two bursts from the SCAR, but the bullets ricochet off dense, bony carapace. Burton has better luck, aiming his Impact Cannon up and pulling the trigger. A giant hole explodes upward from the elevator as the mutant on the top is blown into many pieces. Two of his friends drop down from the shaft walls and into the elevator from the top breach. Charlie fires a ten round burst, but it goes wide, while Elyse's blade shears into another, nearly killing it in on slice. One final monster leaps onto the top of the elevator, but does not jump into the interior. The car begins to groan with the weight.
>>26869113The pair of monsters fumble clumsily at Yellowman and Elyse with their long claws, but the close quarters and awkward nature of their mutations gives the experienced combatants plenty of time to duck and avoid the attacks.

Charlie misses with another 10 round burst as the final monster crashes down into their midst, managing to grab Elyse in a choke hold. The energy sword drops from her grasp as she grabs the hands around her neck and tries to pull them free, gasping for air.

>>26869828Pastebins have been updated to this point.
>>26869844Yellowman shoves the barrel of his SCAR into the monster's mouth and fires a three round burst, shattering its skull and dropping it to the ground just as the elevator lets out a cheery 'ding' and opens its doors to a large antechamber. A picture of a padlock on top of a shield is stenciled into the wall, reading 'High Security Storage.'"Well..." Scott says, shaking off a bit of blood spatter on his leg. "At least we're in the right place."Navigating the level is made exceptionally easy by the invisibility sphere, enabling the group to bypass patrol after patrol of heavily armored guards. Eventually, Scott's card picks up a reaction in front of a metal door sealed shut with a computerized lock. There are no guards in sight.
>>26870201>Computerized lock>No guardsWell.I say this looks like a trap. Everyone look around and make sure we're not gonna get jumped. FFP, Scott, maybe Burton too: get ready to hack that panel. ..Or should Elyse just photon sword around/through the door?Charlie, whatever opening we use or make, Gertrude should be awesome for roomsweeping just in case. I am fully expecting an ambush so if we open the door, stand to one side of it instead of in front of it... And be ready to shoot anyone trying to get in that's not us. I also suspect SUDDENLY BUMRUSHING once we breach. This is it, folks. Let's not get sloppy with the goal in sight.
>>26870201Charlie, switch to Gertrude. We'll need to clear a room.Scott, set your ART Specs to do an ultrasound scan of the door, see how thick it is. Also check your Motion Tracker; anything moving inside? Is Burton trained in hacking electronic locks? Scott could do it, but better someone who's got a higher skill rating than him.Elyse, have your Energy Sword out and ready to cut through the door.
>>26870201>>26870380Actually, have Elyse drink a Potion. She's down to 6HP, may has well get it back up before a possible boss fight.
>>26870201Scott, better take the Yautja combistick and attach it to one of your belt or hardpoints. Might need a near indestructible melee weapon, just in case.
>>26870489>>26870437Elyse drinks a potion as Scott brings out the combistick and attaches it to his belt.>>26870380>>26870320The ART Specs reveal the door is four inches thick. The Motion Tracker reveals nothing."Sorry boss, I open locks the same way I do everything else. With gratuitous explosions," Burton says, patting his cannon.Charlie brings out Gertrude and stands ready as Scott hesitates."Should I hack it? Or maybe Elyse should just cut it?" Scott asks.
>>26870536What kind of electronic lock is it?Card Key only? Or does it require a passcode, finger/palmprint, or iris scan?If it only requires a passkey, we should consider ambushing one of the security patrols with a knockout spore cloud.
>>26870536Cutting will probably trigger an alarm. We need to be subtle. Take a little time, look for other ingress, even just for FFP to scout.
>>26870583Fat has a look around, but the door seems to be the only ingress point.
>>26870611Then it sounds like we'll need to use the Electronic Toolkit we have to try to hack the lock. Another idea is to mind-control one of the security guards to open the lock, but there's no guarantee any of the patrols will have the passcode.
>>26870626Start sticking the blade into the gaps of the door.
>>26870626Wait, first.Scott, I remember an episode of MacGuyver that had this. >>26871134Scott, see if you can hurry up the process by using the Electronics Toolkit you have to run all possible combinations directly into the lock.
>>26871134Aren't there a ton of possible combinations for a 5 digit number? Why can't we just punch the lock the go?
>>26871188Sure, give me a Hack check with a +20 modifier.>>26871200None of these.
Rolled 92>>26871387Come on, Scott, don't let us down now!
>>26871396>92>92 + 10 Hacking + 20 bonus = 122 of FUCK YOU, ELECTRONIC LOCK
>>26871396Scott links up his toolkit to the lock and presses a few buttons. The device stops on the combination of 06241, the door opening with a click."Why didn't you just do that to begin with?" Elyse asks."Shut up! That's why!"The room beyond the door is a small room of polished metal, featureless except for the lights in the ceiling. The same sort of hallway extends past it to another metal door with a passcode lock.
>>26871498Okay, let's hack the door again.
>>26871498>another passcode lockGoddammit.Alright, let's try this again.Scott, get some chalk powder, blow it on the keypad.Once we've got the numbers, run them through the key generator on your toolkit.Double passcode systems like this always use a different code for the second door.
>>26871498Well, shit.Use the ART Specs to check for trip lasers or other invisible nasties. If there's nothing, sneak up to the next door and try the chalk trick to see if it's the same code.>>26871551>>26871553Guys! Trap check first! This is way too plain!

>>2687163732+8= 40 on the dot.Scott notices several thin lines of laser light, so fine as to be almost invisible projecting across the hallway at knee level. It should be relatively easy to bypass them.
>>26871887Well then. Step over lasers, receive door. Once there, chalk dust the keypad again to see if it's the same numbers. Get hacking tool ready just in case, and same advice as before: stay from in front of the door, Charlie has Gertrude ready, and everyone gets read y have shit go down.
>>26871930You step over the lasers and chalk the door, revealing 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 as the numbers. Scott readies his hacking tool. If you want him to hack, roll 1d100. You got +20 due to knowing the numbers.
>>26871887Alright, proceed and avoid the laser sensors, pointing them out to Elyse and Charlie. >>26871971Well, looks like those hacking lessons from Mouse sure payed off, huh Scott?
>>26871998Scott, Burton, scan the room with IR and Ultraviolet, as well as ultrasound.Scott, ARE we actually getting closer to the prize? Check the Racer Card.
>>26871998...Seriously? Not even NERV has this many doors locking up Terminal Dogma!Oh, alright. Check for more lasers and such, and let's repeat this shit again. Oh, and also >>26872031. Rolled 58>>26872142We're going to fail eventually.
>>26872176Between his own sharpened senses and the heightened awareness granted to him by the ART Specs, Scott is able to detect and bypass a series of twelve explosive panels set into the floor.
>>26872237Same deal as before. Dust the panel, and let's get hacking.
>>26872237Let's hack again after avoiding the panels.
>>26872392When Scott dusts the panel, none of the buttons have fingerprints on them.
>>26872421Okay, no easier hacking this time.. Still needs to happen, though. So hack time is now.Burton, check our six. Full-spectrum with the ART Specs.
Rolled 98, 46 = 144>>26872447Scott starts to set up for a hack job, but the moment he tries to access the passcode lock, an alarm blares and two sentry guns pop down from hatches in the ceiling. The guns immediately swivel around to lock onto Scott, opening fire!
>>26872569>98, 46The first sentry gun fires a burst dead on at Scott, draining his shields and battering apart the ablative plating built into his armor. The second has far less luck, being deflected by the mastercrafted adamant plating added onto the suit. Scott collapses against the wall, unwounded so far, but completely offguard from the shock."Shit, I was looking in the wrong direction!" Burton says, whirling around from his rearguard position to train his Impact Cannon on the sentry guns while Elyse brings up her sword and Charlie his riot shotgun.>Shields down.>Ablative armor down.

Charlie fires a three round burst with Gertrude, managing to damage one of the guns, but it's a moot point as both of the sentry guns suddenly explode in a hail of burning metal. Burton lowers his cannon."That's the sweet thing about heavy weapons," he says, grinning. "Love the AoE."Elyse spells: 7/9
>>26872806Well then. Elyse, slice this fucking door open. Remember not to stand right in front of where you're cutting! It's time to be done with this place.Burton, check our six.
>>26872820"Got it!" Elyse says, plunging her sword into the door and carving through it while Burton swings his gun around again. A few seconds later the door falls inward with a loud clang. Another hallway greets Scott's eyes, but this one is different. At the end of the hall is a standard door, and the walls have the High Security Storage logo stenciled on them, with the addendum "HSS Containment Room 3-b."
>>26872915Alright. Check for traps. The goal's in sight. Once we've sure of what's going on, I want Elyse to use another spell and warp the entrance to this hallway we just came through shut. Think wall of the metal the hallway's made of, but thickened over the doorway. This is to be done BEFORE we go to the portal itself.Because I DO NOT WANT anyone sneaking up on us this close. This portal is OURS.So to be clear, order of business is thus:1) Use ART Specs to check for traps2) Once traps are checked for and dealt with, Elyse uses a spell and seals the way we came once we're all inside. This seal should be at least a foot thick.3) Defeat final obstacles4) Acquire portal

>>26873051It looks like there are tiny hatches and pistons in the walls and ceiling. ART Spec scanning confirms this, identifying large steel slabs designed to slide out. There is no obvious trigger mechanism. It seems to be a series of emergency barriers or the like.
>>26873124Well, alright then. Elyse, seal up our entrance. Everyone, be all the way careful. These things are probably fast-deploying. Do NOT stand in their line of travel.

>>26873331Yellowman, save here just incase we decide we want to do some sidequests later. Otherwise, whip out the Gauss, see if you can recharge your shields and have everyone get ready to plunge into a Final Boss Fight, most likely one who will like going "Haha! Now you face my TRUE FORM!"
>>26873331Proceed CAUTIOUSLY.Elyse, you're the fastest of us. If these security panels start moving, be ready to tackle people out of the way if they're fast. And for the love of all good deities in the Meta remember to go with whoever you tackle! Crushed Paladin is NOT on the menu!Everyone else, be ready. Just a little more...Once we get to the portal, everyone goes in at the same time... >>26873372 sounds like a thing. Boss Fight could be incoming so be ready for anything!
>>26873384"R-right," Elyse nods as everyone gears up and begins to move down the hallway. A little more than halfway to the door, bulwarks of metal slam down behind the group, then slam down in front of them a moment later, trapping them. A voice emanates from a hidden speaker."Ed is impressed that you managed to get this far, but annoyed you set her back so much," a young female voice says. "If this was a normal game, Ed might consider conceding by now, but it isn't. Ed needs that wish, and you're not going to take it from her. Just sit there until Ed has the book, then Ed will let you go."
>>26873556Seriously?Elyse, cut these walls out of the way. Ed did us a favor here by triggering them. We don't have to worry about them crushing us now."Not happening, Edward. And for the record you don't go around just tasing random people... It's rude! And I doubt Spike, Jet, Faye, or Ein would approve of such behavior!"
>>26873591Elyse begins cutting, but the steel wall segments are at least seven feet thick. It may be possible slowly carve out a tunnel, but it'll take time to cut chunks out and have someone pull them off.Edward laughs."You don't think Faye-Faye would approve? Did you forget her profession? Did you even really know her?" Edward laughs again. "Ein... Ein wouldn't, no. Jet would. You're no random person. You're someone in the way of a big fat bounty, and the taser isn't lethal or anything. Spike..." Edward's tone drops noticeably. "...well. When I win this race, we'll see what Spike has to say."
>>26873638>Picking up tomorrow. Erratic updates until 7, then steady on.
Rolled 62>>26873638It'll be faster if we can convert some or all of this steel in our way into oxygen. Maybe if we have Elyse use a transmutation spell, we can get through. Also, Ed's got a point. Faye, Jet, and Spike would all approve of what she's done so far.
>>26874400Nah, it doesn't have enough lazy super dodgey martial arts for Spike to approve. Though honestly we need to tell her what happened to Spike and offer to bring her with while we try to find his ass.
>>26873638Is is just me, or is she trying to get Spike back after the Guard recruited him and he disappeared?
>>26877398She probably is, or getting the Bebop crew back together. Though Spike died in the Canon we recruited him from (though Ed probably doesn't know that). Which is really, a big waste of a wish. The TG, or at least, those members of the TF38 Command Staff with some Meta-Transit capable assets would be looking for Spike and Holtz, and getting the crew together should be possible with her own wits, not using a Meta-resource to force them back together. So we pump Ed full of StickNShock bullets when we find her, and get the book, and play that poker game with Charlie and Elyse. Burton, too, if he wants in.
We might as well ask first. If it's what she wants, we can add her to the game and give us a 50/50 to a 60/40 chance of getting someone on the Guard's side to win the game. We'll probably be able to help with Elyse's wish, and we can at least pay Charlie for his trouble and try to drop him off at home.
>>26877498You can't reasonably lump someone else's wishes with yours, or lump multiple wishes into one sentence.
>>26877498Are you asking Ed to join the poker game?
>>26878932I say no.It makes no sense for her to accept. She's in the lead, all other competitors are far behind her, she's got us trapped, and as far as she and us knows, there's currently no End Boss guarding the Book. Why should she give up a 90% chance of victory for only a 25% chance of winning the poker game? It's illogical, irrational, and she's actually serious about winning this Race unlike her usual happy-go-lucky attitude towards everything.
>>26878060We CAN get back to the Transpace Guard, find Spike and reunite him with Ed, pay Charlie for his help and send him to a place he wants to go (probably Vegas), and almost certainly help Elyse out. Literally everyone wins.I want to say yes, because she may still be behind us.
>>26879439>find Spike and reunite him with EdHow long would that take? We don't know where he is, and he doesn't have a Meta-capable transponder beacon or communicator that we could track. Also TF38 is being disbanded and Sylphe already indicated that the current Transpace Guard is becoming increasingly difficult to work with because their undefeated record is making them arrogant.Ed would be trading in an assured package of what she wants given to her instantly for a maybe of getting what she wants on an undetermined schedule.
>>26879680>>26879439Well if you want to try negotiating, tell me when you put together an offer you think will work. Otherwise, I'll be waiting on your action.
>>26880239Action: Have Elyse cast a disintegrate spell to turn the steel barriers in front of us into ash. There's one anon that wants to try negotiation, but he'll have to come up with an offer.

>>26880796Elyse chants loudly and raises her arms, a thin green ray lancing from her outstretched hand to the barrier in front of the group. The barrier shimmers then turns to dust, leaving the way to the door open. Everything is silent for a moment."...God DAMN it!" Ed shouts over the hidden speaker. Please roll 4d100.
Rolled 43, 3, 48, 70 = 164>>26881239You know Ed, if all you want is to do missions with Spike again, we can arrange for it, he was working for us, and still technically is. He's just a little lost at the moment.Want a job that'll help you find him?

>>26882247You had Charlie reroll a 2 back in the elevator fight.
>>26882634You're right. Pastebin will be updated accordingly.
>>26882686When ed can win the prize that gives her what she wants instantly, she has no reason to work with anyone that will only give her a "maybe" for finding Spike. But if you do succeed with that "maybe", it will be deliciously cruel to her when it takes a long time to find Spike the hard way with low success!
>>26882634As part of preparations from >>26873372Scott's shields were supposed to have been recharged. Would that have drained a third of an E-Tank, or a quarter?
>>26882890I'm going to say third.
>>26883087Then Scott is back up to 7HP (2 from recharged Shields, and the Adamant Plating is good for absorbing 1 Wound per Battle, and has therefore reset).
>>26882247>>26881290"How stupid do you think I am?" Ed asks, her usual way of speaking gone as the emergency bulkheads that hadn't deployed immediately begin closing down on you. Scott jumps over, under, then away from the bulkheads near him, rolling to a stop in the area made safe by Elyse's disintegration. Elyse immediately leaps into the same area, and is followed by Burton and Fat Fot Pot. Charlie's luck runs out, however, and only his head passes into the safe area, several bulkheads pressing down on him and pinning him to the ground. He gives a scream of pain."This... really... hurts!" he says as everyone regroups."You should be dead," Burton says. "How strong is that armor?""I dialed down the force of the bulkheads so it'd pin, not kill you," Ed says. "I'm not a monster. Geez, it looks like even that wasn't enough... Time for Plan C!"Two more bulkheads slide over the door, the last two in the room as the loudspeaker goes quiet.>Charlie loses 2 Wounds and is pinned.
>>26883308Elyse, use your energy sword and cut a section of the bulkhead out above Charlie to get him free. Then get to work on the barriers protecting the last door. Burton and Scott, help move the sections of cut out metal aside.
>>26883365Hmm. Burton's Impact Cannon is based on particle impacter technology; it should be able to do significant damage to modern Earth-equivalent steel alloys. Scott, Burton, if you fire the Impact Cannon at the blast panels that are protecting the door, will the blast be dangerous to you if you're standing 7 feet back, which is how much distance you should have.
>>26883439"No, it shouldn't," Burton says, hefting his cannon. "Want me to give it a shot?">>26883365"Right!" Elyse says as she begins to cut into the steel. As she does so, the invisibility sphere finally fades away.
>>26883489Well, we've already used the Impact Cannon in an elevator and in the previous hallway, so we know we can use it in enclosed spaces. Do it, Burton.
Rolled 11, 58 = 69>>26883554Burton fires the Impact Cannon, a massive hole immediately ripping itself through the twin bulkheads. A second shot and the bulkheads, along with the door behind them, tear free from their moorings and sail into the next room. The next room is a large antechamber with a sealed vault door squarely in the center. Two heavily armed and armored CORT soldiers leap aside from the flying debris caused by Burton's cannon. Without a work, they roll into firing positions and begin opening up on the unknowns before them.Meanwhile, Elyse manages to cut away a large chunk of the bulkheads and is pulling Charlie to safety.Scott's card begins to pulse violently.
>>26883635One of the soldier's shots go wide, but the second manages to hit Yellowman's shields with a burst, draining some of the protective energy away.>Yellowman loses 1 Wound from Shields.

>>26883635Scott, Burton, take out those guards. Scott, fire one smoke grenade and then switch to StickNShock rounds and take them out. Burton, your Cannon can do splash damage, catch them in it. Broken bones will heal, and it's better than being dead.
>>26883757>>26883746Flash Frag or Smoke?
>>26883889Eh, Flash/Frag. ART Specs have flash compensation, Charlie and Elyse aren't looking this way, either.

Rolled 9, 89 = 98>>26884058YAY
>>26884085Yellowman attempts to fire a flash microgrenade, then a frag in quick succession, but the two CORT soldiers are already jumping away as the projectiles slam harmlessly into the vault door. Even the flashbang doesn't appear to do anything, the soldiers' training and headgear apparently helping them resist the normally disorienting effects. However, one of the soldiers does fire a burst of assault rifle fire that goes wide. A moment later Burton's Impact Cannon hits him square in the chest, causing blood and gore to shower over everyone present as the body is blown to bits. The second soldier fares far better, though the blast catches him as well. Shaking off the wound, the fighter plucks a grenade from his belt and hurls it at Scott and company. A hail of shrapnel and concussive force bursts over the group as the grenade goes off. No one escapes harm, though no one is in danger of dying. Fot falls unconscious, the blast wave battering the tiny alien against a wall.>Everyone takes a Wound.>Fot is KO'd.
>>26884238Burton, take him out!Scott, fire a burst of APDS. Elyse, Charlie, you okay?
>>26884238Is Charlie free yet?

>>26884491Yellowman, what's their cover like? Can you airburst right over them?If yes, the next 2 grenades in series are high explosive and frag, and the final one is a WP.Keep that in mind.
>>26884491>>26884526The enemy manages to nail Yellowman with a sustained burst from his assault rifle just before Burton's cannon and a burst from Yellowman's SCAR tear the remaining guard to shreds. No one is left to guard the massive vault door.Scott's card continues to pulse, warning of the proximity of another racer.>Scott loses 2 Wounds.
>>26884837Scott, quickly recharge your shields. Elyse, can you handle a group heal?Fat's Sap can be used on others.
>>26884912Should we have Fat try to revive Fot with the sap?
>>26884945No, if Elyse casts a Mass Heal, it should restore him anyway. Then that's 2 uses of Sap for someone else instead of a redundant use of the Mass Heal.
>>26884912"Of course I can!" Elyse says.>Elyse can heal the entire group 1 Wound with no roll needed if you choose. Cast the spell?
>>26884837Scott, ammo skip to empty for the launcher, and load the following in sequence of firing:Frag/HE/Frag/WP/HE/WP.
>>26885015Yes, cast the spell. That should clear the damage from the grenade. Let's see: Scott suffered 4 Wounds. 2 were absorbed by his Shields and 1 by Adamant. So he suffered 1 real Wound, which would be healed by Elyse's spell. He's recharging his shield and the Adamant is good for his next fight. Charlie suffered 3 wounds total, and Elyse heals 1. 1 of those wounds would be absorbed by his armor, meaning only 2 can be healed. The other can be healed by FFP's Sap.
>>26885229Elyse, FFP, and Burton only suffered the 1 Wound from the grenade, so her mass heal spell will clear away that damage. The only real question is if those 2 Wounds Charlie suffered from being pinned went directly to his Wounds counter, or if 1 was absorbed by his armor.
>>268852751 was absorbed.Elyse spells: 5/9A shower of golden light rains down on the party, sealing shut most of their wounds and re-invigorating them. Scott sighs in satisfaction as his injuries vanish."Some days it really pays to have a cleric or pally around," he says. "All right, that's that, but we still need to get the vault door open.""Should I just cut it?" Elyse asks, raising her sword.
>>26885667We can assume that Ed is attempting to get there as fast as she can due to not having more bulkheads open, though we may not be able to track her using Yellowman's card. She bumped right into him at the start of this course and Yellowman's card didn't even pulse. This could mean that either Zangief and Rufus are closing in with the group OR that the Ghost is now closing in to get a shot at that wish. While it behooves us to move as fast as possible, it might not be a bad idea to search for any leftover traps on the vault door and such.I'd have whoever has the ART specs to watch over the hall/room in whatever vision modes would defeat cloaking and/or invisibility. Some others may want to search the guards for access keys or any other things that might allow entry into the vault. If nothing is found, then we may want to have Elyse to attempt to slash it open.Does this sound like a good plan to everyone?
>>26885667This feels like a trap.
Rolled 24As you wish.
>>26886368There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the vault door.
>>26886618Well alright then.Time to lower our guard completely and go through the door.
Elyse, could you cast Find Trapshttp://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/f/find-traps.Should have thought of this last night.
>>26886644"No need," Scott says, dusting himself off. "I'm pretty sure there's nothing there.">>26886791"I can," Elyse nods.If you want her to cast this, roll a d100.And you still need to decide whether to cut open the door or try something else. The guards had nothing but weapons and ammunition on them.
Rolled 28>>26886985To find traps.
>>26886985How does the vault door look like? Does it have any apparent locks or other features?
>>26887297Elyse spells: 4/9Elyse sings a hymn and her eyes flash gold for a moment as she looks around."I don't see any traps. I think it's clear!" Elyse says. "So... am I cutting?""I think I can blast through it," Burton says, patting his Impact Cannon.
>>26887323No it does not. There doesn't seem to be any readily obvious means of opening it.
>>26887345Before cutting, take another quick survey to identify structural weaknesses. Then blast said weaknesses from the farthest possible distance.
>>26887345I'm more partial to blasting through it, but one quick test.Yellowman, shoot a single shot from Waldorf at it.I want to make sure it isn't made of some type of metal that reflects energy weapons.
>>26887430Scott draws Waldorf and fires a quick shot at the vault door. The burst of plasma melts off a small bit of the round, steel door."Doesn't look resistant to me," he says, holstering the weapon."I was hoping it wasn't going to come to this, but please stand aside," a female voice says. Scott looks around, but there is no sign of the speaker. Elyse and Charlie begin slowly scanning the room as Fat, Fot, and Pot zip around on their hover-discs."The Ghost..." Burton growls."I've got my sights lined up on you, so don't try anything. I don't want to have to fight you. Please, stand aside," the voice repeats.
>>26887590Yellowman, check ultrasound, her cloak should only be thermoptic, not physical.Lucky for us the ART specs have a DNI, right?
>>26887590May we ask what you intend to use the wish for?
>>26887688Using Ultrasound imaging, Scott sees that the Ghost is right in front of the hallway out, her rifle trained right at him.
>>26887766Now for the hard part.Yellowman, is your rifle leveled close enough for a grenade to be a threat? If so, mark the target on both sets of ART specs, and fire a grenade and dodge, and then engage. But first, negotiate. Escalation of force and all that.
>>26887746"I'm going to use it to save a lot of lives. I'm going to use it to undo a terrible, terrible mistake," the Ghost says. "Can you say you're going to do the same?""Well... uh... I'm sure my pleasure planet will provide a lot of jobs that might be good for the econo-" Burton begins to say. Scott and Elyse glare at him and he cuts himself off.
>>26887809"Wait, which Starcraft canon are you from?"
>>26887590>>26887766>>26887809Scott, glance skywards. Are there fire sprinklers in the ceiling? Water is a good way to defeat cloaks so the others can see too. Maybe figure out how to trigger them; possibly with a burst nearby from Waldorf or a fire alarm somewhere?Burton should be able to see her as well. This looks like it's gonna get ugly real fast.
>>26887809Wait.In your reality, was the leader of the confederacy Kingston?
>>26887846"I'm not from one of those," the Ghost says. "I bought this suit and had it modified from a ComTrader merchant years ago. My home is..." she stops, suddenly. "...somewhere else."

Look at the C&C Red Alert timeline; see where preventing one mistake led to: a world with ever growing horrors and wars. Scott, you can't allow her to change a Canon. You know what lies down that path? The Timeline Wars.
I would like us to back away from the large door, leaving us at least 40 feet from it. Elyse will cast this spell on the door, using it as the center of the burst. This will allow us to avoid the negative effects of the spell, while making the ghost and door worthless (as well as some metal objects on the other side of the door).http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Transmute_Metal_to_Wood
>>26888010>Scott, you can't allow her to change a Canon. You know what lies down that path? The Timeline Wars.Depends, if it's an outside change or effect, then it'd be better to change it. "The things I've heard about your group have been rather mixed, so you'll forgive me if I leave out a few details."The Ghost heaves a sigh. "For a long time I lived in a place that was as close to earthly heaven as I believe humans can get. A place aptly called Eden. Not as long ago I decided to leave that place and travel through the myriad worlds that exist. I sought to help others build up their own little pieces of Eden, thought I could help the people that I thought needed help so badly... for a time I did."The Ghost is silent for a moment before her voice drops. "...then I undid all the good I'd done and more thanks to one stupid mistake. In my arrogance, I had an audience with a terrible power, a mysterious ogre mage who ruled over a vast demi-plane. Certain I could escape at any time, I attended and sought to discover what his plans were through clever wordplay. It was a trap. The mage was just a shell being used by a race of otherworldly entities. They... captured me. Took my knowledge. Used me as a tool to awaken and control a slumbering god, whom they now use to spread their foul kind throughout the planes."The Ghost's voice fills with urgency. "I MUST have that wish! Properly worded, I can undo what I've done! I don't care what happens to me, but the worlds ravaged by those monsters and their slave-god shouldn't have to suffer for my own stupidity and arrogance!"
>>26889056...The lady makes a compelling argument.Though I'm not sure just how powerful the wish will be.
>>26889056Oh boy, rampaging meta-capable godlike beings.I thought we were done with this shit after wannabe Chaos gods funtime jamboree.
Ah. "Properly worded". That's going to be very tricky unless you're some sort of ancient and wizened interplanar lawyer/mage. Even then, that's assuming that the wishing artifact doesn't have a mind of its own and decides to pull a monkey's paw and twist the wish around to something that would make the situation even worse. Come to think of it, why would the race organizers even let the racers have such a powerful artifact? Perhaps they are attempting to destabilize reality, or perhaps the wish isn't really all that powerful. It certainly wouldn't be powerful enough to affect the Gamesters, that's for certain. Or maybe it isn't a wish at all.
>>26889056Well shit. Possible options.Option 1: We offer to get the guard to help out with fixing this. This does technically fall under our jurisdiction.Option 2: Elyse gets the Grand Crusade to help. Much more in line with what she'd want, as the GC is about improving realities, not restoring them.Option 3: Let her have the wish. It's possible we could get back home anyways, especially since Sylphie MAY be able to come back for us.
>>26889056I think this merits a team huddle.
Rolled 96>>26889056Ghost. We completely agree with you. They shouldn't have to suffer. But it isn't your fault that evil exists. But you can also know this. Wish granting objects almost always cheat. Either by twisting your wish or by literally fulfilling it, they almost always cheat. The wish I want to have is to be sent back to my sector headquarters. If you are willing, we can join up, head to my homebase and show those bastards what being a hero is about.
>>26889275You forgot Option 4, convince her to come with us, promise Charlie and Elyse proper jobs/relinks, get TF38 together, and add a few more god kills to the big fucking list of things we've slaughtered in the name of canon preservation.
>>26889261Actually I was wondering about that, did the gamesters mention anything about the wish?I was under the impression that it was just them using their vast wealth and resources, not some kind of magical device capable of altering multiple realities.
>>26889322Eh, that's why she said she was going to word it properly. She knows damn well that wish-granting machines can be finnicky as fuck. Also considering what we did, it's kind of hypocritical.I propose we team up with her for now, and if the prize really is a wish without any limitations, she gets dibs.
>>26889380Why? We could use it for superior purposes and then just Katamari her canons back into proper functioning, and *we* could wish for multiple forms of physical copies of the current canon-scape maps since the old ones are all fucked up.
>>26889330That's included in option 1.
>>26889056Right. Another Oma Desala. And you know what her attempts to fix the problem resulted in? Rather than face the responsibility of what she had done, she kept on doing the same, and it never would have gotten as bad as it had gotten if she had just stopped Anubis in the first place instead of trying to find a way to stop him without sacrificing herself.>>26889341>>26889380Read the first part of the Race; they specifically say it's an item of power which will grant a wish with limitless power.

"I know wish granters cheat, but it's a risk I have to take. If your wish is just to be sent back home, why do you need a wish for that? I saw your friend pop up in that last world, couldn't you have caught a ride with her?" she pauses. "Even if I took your offer, how do I know you'll be able to succeed? Why don't you just let me have the wish, and I swear I'll do all in my power to help you find a way home?"
>>26889056"And what guarantee do we have that you will properly word the wish, and that it will have all of the consequences you want, and won't have any unintended side-effects or consequences?"Yes, they're obviously a Meta-Threat that needs to be taken down. But you've already admitted that you've made a mistake; can we really trust you to not make another?"
>>26889513Did it happen to be The Avatar?>>26889513Listen, we're up to, what, 5 God Kills? Ebon Night, wannabe Eva Chaos... Who else have we killed or contained in the god-range of power in our latest assignment?Lady, this is what my current superior is BEST at, brute force containment and correction of meta contaminated reality.
>>26889513>I saw your friend pop up in that last world, couldn't you have caught a ride with her?"We couldn't take that ride, because the Race was still on. We couldn't take the chance that the wish could be used to create unforeseen consequences as a result of a Racer's wish. "Just like we can't take the chance that you'll have unforeseen consequences as a result of yours."
>>26889545>Who else have we killed or contained in the god-range of power in our latest assignment?Chaosbringer and Sapphie.A case could be made for the Mammon Machine and Queen Zeal, as well as Dr. Grimm.
>>26889623Oh yes, Chaosbringer for sure, Sappie maybe.Still, we can easily tell her about Chaosbringer as a paralell situation for how we can fix her realities. We already did it. And given the scale she mentioned, getting TF38 to reassemble the Katamari for it is easily done.
Guys, don't forget, Ed is already going towards the prize as well, and she outright refused to work with us. We don't know what else she has in her bag of tricks, and she could be ahead of us.
>>26889527"I could say the same thing about your Guard. There's been a lot of nasty talk about what your new 'Editors' are up to," the Ghost says. "That's why I'm being stingy with the details. I don't want your army posturing and puffing at my home's door.">>26889545"No... I wish. What? Really, now? Can you prove that?">>26889573"So you don't want the wish used in general?"
>>26889848We should have detailed AARs including battlefield recordings of most, excluding the Chaos battle because of the nature of the fight itself. As well, not to say that its inevitable, but with the knowledge of that fact that you've got what is likely a SUE infestation causing significant meta contamination, my superiors can't ignore the damage. No matter what we're going to have to check it out, its out job.
>>26889848We don't want the Wish used in a way that causes a mess we'll have to clean up. Hell, maybe we can word the wish to bring all of us, Spike, Holtz and you to the Guard and we can get the Katamari back together to save your world.
>>26889943Do "We" know that Holtz is missing?
>>26889896"What the hell is a SUE?">>26889943"Then look over the wording I've prepared and tell me it's not ironclad. Don't you realize you have a chance of screwing up with your wish as well? I can appreciate your desire to help, but against this foe... I am wary of using brute force. This way will undo the damage done as well as prevent any further loss of life."
>>26889848>"So you don't want the wish used in general?""That's right. At most, something small-scale and contained to a single Canon after the main plot has been completed. Charlie's wish for owning a New Vegas-style city, for example, could fit right into a DLC or something after the Courier's journey. Even Burton's own pleasure planet could be tucked into some forgotten Outer Rim system of Star Wars, or some backwater corner of the Delta Quadrant with a deal made with the Q. "Elyse I can trust to adhere to Kreuz and the Grand Crusade's understanding that changing too much leads to unforeseen and undesirable butterfly effects."As for the Editors...can't say much about it since we've been away during the restructuring, but if they really are getting out of hand, then they're going to be in for a bloody nose and a mouth full of broken teeth."
>>26889996Meta contaminants with reality altering powers, very dangerous without proper protection, usually with mind control out the ass.But beyond the point, we also don't know what kind of wish granter we're dealing with, for all we know it's monkey paw or evil ancient artifact book style.
>>26890016Didn't we run into a "Wish Granting" god a while back? Completely screwed Sam over with a simple wish of "I want to be male again".
>>26890000>>26890016"Main plot? Wh- Ah. So you're paranoid that the wish will be something like a monkey paw. The greater the wish, the harsher the blowback. It's not. It's a book, and my wish, though carefully worded, is simple. I'm going to go back to when I was about to walk into that throne room with the knowledge I have now. Then I'll just teleport out, NOT spring the trap, and promptly go informing anyone that will listen of what's really going on there," the Ghost says. "Time travel is always a bit iffy, but this is a simple change, and the way it's been worded shouldn't cause a time paradox or causal distortion."
>>26889996>SUE"Supernatural Unbalanced Entity. A parasitic entity that feeds on and manipulates Humanity's collective unconsciousness. "As for the wording...alright. Let's see it."Neither one of us is going to be budge; at this rate, either Ed, Zangief, or Rufus will catch up to us.
>>26890192"What's the exact wording? Are you going to simply give yourself of that time the knowledge you have now? And why so late as to be walking into the throne room? Why not earlier? You're already in there trap then, since you're already in their demi-plane, and there's no guarantee you can escape. And then there's the fact that we're talking now, and that if you use the wish like you want, you wouldn't take part in the race, you wouldn't win it, and it WOULD cause a time paradox. How are you going to save the past unless you create an alternate set of timelines? And only the ATN does that."
>>26890291>>26890199"I have a copy in my pouch here," the Ghost says. "And it has to be that precise moment or the wording doesn't work. It uses a lot of obscure facts about time travel and the planes to work. If you don't already know about them, I can't spare the time to teach you."A small folded document of several pages appears in the air as the Ghost flings it towards Scott."We're burning time here," the Ghost says. "Let me have the wish. All of you seem to be wishing for things that can be got through different means, but I need to have something of this power for the plan to work. There's no guarantee you'll win against what I've unleashed, no guarantee anyone will! This wish is the best hope billions of innocent people have at getting their lives back. Please... Please, if you value anything at all, let me have that wish!"
>>26890442Scott, Burton, FFP, Elyse. You're all Meta-Aware operatives. Read through the wording; does it pass muster? Our lead is disappearing by the second, and we need to know if the wish will be used properly or not.
>>26890477Have Charlie take a look too. He may not be a Meta-Operative, but he's from New Vegas and the man knows a Con Game when he sees one.
>>26890442What about the Time Paradox? If you make the wish, you have no reason to come to the Race meaning you never make the wish, meaning you come to the race to make the wish, and so on? Those aren't appreciated. And what about all the OTHER knowledge you've gained? How do we know that won't be abused?
>>26890547"What other knowledge?" the Ghost asks, confused.>>26890477>>26890525Everyone huddles around the document.Roll an Intelligence check for Scott, Burton, and FFP. Charlie provides a slight bonus from looking it over, but doesn't get a roll himself.

As well, we usually have enough on our plate to deal with without having to clean up butterflies from wish-related shenanigans.
>>26890634That's no good. >>26890651She comes from a Meta-Aware Faction. All of her knowledge is meta-knowledge. Her knowing things doesn't cause reality distortions.
Eh, I'm in favor of just letting her do the wish.I mean if you think about it, isn't the whole "back to normal" thing pretty much exactly what we did, with the Void Engineers having the policy of "don't use the wish machine, too dangerous"?Are we going to be hypocrites out of the unsubstantiated belief that we're the "good guys"?
>>26890727I'm more worried about the time paradox. There's also the chance she's lying or trying to change an event that's suppose to happen.
>>26890727I mean we altered time and space a lot more, retroactively un-happening different mostly unrelated events.Comparatively speaking, altering just one decision seems less risky.
>>26890727We knew how we were going to word the wish then, and the Void Engineers never asked. We're asking to see her wording now, to vett the wording and make sure that it doesn't have a loophole first. There's a difference between not giving her the wish until we're sure she's worded it right, and never giving her the wish at all. There's also Charlie to consider, who should be given his fair chance since that's what we promised him.

>>26890765>>26890634You look it over, and though a fair amount of the terms fly over your head, you can't detect anything terribly out of place. The wish seems to account for everything you can think of, creating a sort of 'time loop' to counter paradox creation while still allowing for the correction of the mistake. Essentially the wish would isolate the affected worlds and 'reset' them to the state they were at before the interference of the slave-god, and 'reset' the demi-plane to where it was just before the mistake was made. It is fairly complicated, so there is a risk, but significant safeties have been created, and there are multiple 'failsafe clauses' entered into the wish, including one final failsafe that undoes the wish itself if things go horribly awry at the cost of the wisher's life.
>>26890901Alright. Since all failsafes seem to be accounted for, I think we can safely have Scott, Burton, and Elyse give up their stake on the prize. Charlie is still has his stake though; it wouldn't be fair to make him give up his stake so close to the end, when we gave our word to stick with him till the end.We can fend off the other Racers, if the Ghost will engage Charlie in a single game of chance. A single round of poker; how's that sound?
>>26890963Yeah that's the best we can do, provided Charlie is sticking with his casino.
>>26890901>undoes the wish itself if things go horribly awry at the cost of the wisher's life...Wow, she IS serious about this.
>>26890929>>26890963>>26890999>>26891064"All right, I'll stand aside for this. Burton? You too," Scott says."Awwwww, but a pleasure planet!" Burton says, his face looking anguished."Burton!" Scott says."Ah, all right," the heavy weapons expert grumbles."Elyse..." Scott says, turning to the paladin. She shakes her head."No need to ask. This is the sort of thing I was going to use the wish for anyway. To help so many people... I'll stand aside gladly," Elyse says. "I guess that just leaves you, Charlie.""Aw, nuts," Charlie says, scratching his head and looking at the paper one last time. "I knew something would come up. It always does.""Well, hang on. We can still have that poker game, just between you and the ghost here. That sound all right?" Scott asks. Charlie throws up his hands."Naw, doc. I've been a lot of things in my time, but to condemn whole planets for my own gain? That'd make me king of the rats. And I told you I ain't no rat. Tell you what, toots," Charlie says, pointing at the ghost. "I'll SELL you my stake in this. Cheap, too. Ten thou in caps or their equivalent.""Done," the ghost says, her voice sounding almost hopeful. "So... So you'll let me have it?""It's looking that way," Scott says gesturing. "Now all we need is to bypass this door.""My teleportation works by line of sight. If you can just get a small hole bored in there, I can retrieve the item," the ghost says, decloaking and stepping forward. "Thank you... Thank you so much. You have no idea what this means to me... >>26891236>>26891218The ceiling suddenly explodes inward as a monstrous hand covered in bony carapace slams into the vault room, clumsily grasping at the ghost and the box. The ghost immediately teleports to the edge of the room to avoid capture, while Scott, Elyse, Burton, and Charlie roll out of the way. Fat Fot Pot zips away on his hoverdiscs with ease. The monstrous hand withdraws, revealing a huge tunnel that goes all the way up to the surface of the GeoFront, and the foul visage of an Invader peering down."Well, FUCK," Charlie says.

>>26891485>>26891527Scott fires his weapon uselessly up at the giant, the SCAR not having the power needed to damage such a collosus. Charlie, with the Enchanted Gauss Rifle, manages to do a lot better, nearly putting out one of the creature's eyes with a sustained volley of magical hypersonic bullets. The creature roars in pain, clutching one eye and distracting it long enough for Elyse to cast her spell. All the metal in the room save for the gear the group has melts into one giant liquid pool of steel, then lances upward like silver lightning. The Duelist is slowly getting up a mile or two away from where it was apparently pounded into the ground."Not what I was aiming for, but it worked," Elyse says."OK, we're clear of nasties, now how about we get out of this place?"
