>Welcome to Bioweapon quest, a game which is (mostly) about small scale tactical combat, and getting deadlier.
>Don't be afraid to jump in if you are new!

You are a creature of simple desires. You desire to eat things. With every delicious thing you eat you grow, morph and change.

You are currently in your creator's strange base, or possibly spaceship, all matte black surfaces and featureless walls. You arrived here after you had eaten a delicious man who had offended your creator in some way. You aren't sure exactly where here is, however, as you were paying attention to much more important things on your journey, such as fending off your rather persistent rival.

>cont.
>>
Your heart thuds in your chest. You had just gotten used to the feeling, but moments ago it redoubled in speed and force, almost as if trying to shake you about.

You had been talking to your creator about the rather undelicious 'reward' she had given you, when you caught sight of something that deeply disturbed you. Your mate, carrying your own offspring, is trapped in a strange prison. A cylindrical tank of yellowish water full of bubbles stands by one wall of the room. Inside your mate is struggling with her bindings, two arms are tugging on cables while her third is banging on the surface facing you.

Your creator is prattling on about 'genetics' seemingly completely unperturbed by your mate's struggles, but you know that if she dies, so too do your offspring.

>What do you do?

Well, creator has TRIED to be good to us so far, let's at least ask her what's going on first.

"Will she not drown? I am concerned for my potential offspring."
>>
>>26946640
I would say only slightly concerned. Maybe ask our creator if she will drown, but that's about it.
>>
>>26946700
Let's ask some questions, yes
>>
>>26946650 (You)
>Whoops, pastebin link fell off: http://pastebin.com/3FuwK5Fs

"Will she not drown? I am concerned for my potential offspring."
"Well I stuck an air tube in there, that's why there's all the bubbles. She doesn't seem to want to use it though."

The tripodian creature ceases struggling for a moment and waves a hand at you both, middle finger raised.

Your creator walks closer to the trapped fleshbag, leaning on a table full of strangely shaped metal tools.
"Okay, so it DOES have seditives in it! You got me. But I wouldn't need to put them there if you'd just cooperate!"
>>
"No sedatives. In order to bear my young she must live. And she must breathe to live. "
>>
>>26946919
O if it dies tell me Ill eat it
(sleep)
>>
>>26946919
"Do not distress, meat-thing. I will not allow you to be unduly harmed while you are potentially carrying vital offspring. Won't eat you as gratitude. Your boss was eaten. You disliked him did you not?"
>>
>>26946919
"Make sure she lives...my kind must grow. We show even more people."
>>
"No sedatives. In order to bear my young she must live. And she must breathe to live."
"What? She'll keep breathing. That's the whole point, after all. If she's not struggling then I can take samples!" Your creator's grin gets every wider, "And with samples, I can accellerate the growth! Probably.
"Make sure she lives," you say as you slither up towards the tank, beside your creator, "my kind must grow. We show even more people."
"Does she have to live? That might limit things a bit..."
The figure in the tank makes that gesture at you again.

"Do not distress, meat-thing. I will not allow you to be unduly harmed while you are potentially carrying vital offspring. Won't eat you as gratitude. Your boss was eaten. You disliked him did you not?"
The tripod's ears track around the room, from the floor to the ceiling. Then she makes a wobbling motion with a free hand.

You turn towards your creator, looking up at her face.
"If it dies tell me, I'll eat it."
"Now that I can do!"

Your creator huffs and props her head on her hands.
"This would all be easier and go a lot quicker if she just shut up, quit struggling, and stuck the probe up any one of her three butts."
Your mate, again, makes the gesture towards you.
>>
>>26947183
"Perhaps you should untube her. It is hard to understand what she wants when she can't talk."
>>
>>26947183
Interesting...this gesture...do we have the proper number of fingers to perform it? If so, it may be worth adding to our social repor.
Thank her for teaching us yet more secrets to fleshbag social situations.

Also, what now?
>>
"Maybe we can make some of the water go away, but not all?"

That would alleviate out worries of drowning, we could hear her, and she would still be liquid tube captured.
>>
You recognise the gesture she's making. It means something like... "May someone sting you." If someone stung you, you could bear your own offspring, so it should be a blessing, but your eaten memories tell you it's meant to be taken otherwise.

"Perhaps you should untube her. It is hard to understand what she wants when she can't talk."
"Well I tried it the nice way to begin with, but all she ever said was: 'Nyeh nyeh nyeh, you can't do this to me, I have rights, blah blah, against interstellar law.' Bah! What's the point of being a MAD SCIENTIST!! if you don't break all the rules?"

"Maybe we can make some of the water go away, but not all?"
"Well I suppose I could... but I like tub-"

Your creator is interrupted when a massive crash echoes through the walls and floor of the room, followed by a long metallic groan.
"Oh. Oh my. Twelve!" Your creator grabs your mandibles and looks directly at your eyes. "We have guests! It's been forever since I had guests! Although technically they're still here..."

A siren begins to play from somewhere under the floor, as more shuddering echoes through the foundations. A undelicious voice pipes up "Intruder alert" every few seconds.
>>
guests might mean Deliciousness. Ask where they would be entering from and lets go eat.
>>
>>26947515
We should go greet them. Or possibly consume them. Let's find out!

What a sad thread, trying to run at the same time as Valkyrian mercs and Bleach Quest.
>>
>>26947766
These threads never get too big
And running at the same time as bleach quest is hardly a problem, it attracts all the idiots and keeps them happy

And there is nothing stopping anyone from participating in both this and VMC. I am doing it myself
>>
>>26947678
But let's be sneaky about it. Surprise them when they try to surprise us!
>>
>>26947515
ask her if she knows where they are at and what they are. also, get a rundown of the facility so we don't go in blind.
>>
"Who are they?"
"Guests! Probably armed and incredibly unpolite, like they always are. Hopefully they won't break my power coupler again, I don't want to be stranded in this backwater asteroid belt for another six months."
"Where are they? I want to eat them!"
"Excellent! I had just the same idea. From the sound of it they're in the hangar."
Your creator stands and walks over to an otherwise blank wall.
"Come this way, and we'll have a peek."
But have already left, slinking back down the corridor to where you arrived.

A wall slides up behind you, hiding the room and your mate, and the corridoor opens up in front of you. Many side rooms are opening, and odd scents and sounds come forth from them. Strong acid with a caustic hiss, lush foliage and birdsong, dense earth and clattering, each one different.

When you reach the hangar itself, you find it too is changing. Many thinner wals are rising up out of the otherwise featureless floor. The air vehicle is still smouldering in the centre of the room, but it lies on a slowly rising platform.

In one wall, behind the vehicle, the wall is lit up by a bright light, slowly tracing a man-sized arc out in slag.

>Ideally, you should be able to jump in at any time. If you need clarification on anything, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be happy to answer as best I can. I intend for this quest to mostly run 'in the moment'.

You quickly scurry up the walls, leaping between the thin fake ones that break up the space, and the heavy solid ones that mark the walls of the hangar. As you do, the lights in the roof begin to descend, creating a dark space for you to hide in. You scuttle across the roof, hanging from your suckers, and position yourself above the intrusion.

Soon, the glowing point reaches the floor, and the entire section of wall is forced in by a metal plated boot. An armored body follows the boot, revealing a large, trunked, helmeted figure holding a hefty phaser in its hands. A cone of light shines from beside the tusks that protrude from the helmet, lighting up the dark walls.

Three more delicious meatsacks climb through after it: two humanoid, with one much smaller and lighter then the others; and one unarmoured and seemingly unarmed, and apparently without legs, who flies on leathery wings as its whiplike tail follows.

>cont.

Rolled 35

>>26948358
Yeah, same i'm just catching up on the story while i wait.
>>
The lightest humanoid, wielding a single small phaser, throws a small disk out into the hangar.
"Clear. Breathable." The foremost figure takes off its helmet, to reveal a mass of twigs and leaves on top of lined skin. A Silph. It checks its wrist. "There's a source of heat just past these walls, keep an eye out."
The one you can only describe as average also removes its helmet, revealing a human with a mangy beard. It throws its helmet and phaser behind it, and draws a different weapon: a two barreled firearm. "I do love when there's oxygen."

A voice which calls out from inside the hole. "We are being watched." The very words seem to emanate deliciousness.

Your heart thuds in your chest. As you regard the four delicous things below you.

With a hiss, you leap downward, colliding with the silph. You knock her to the ground as she drops both her phaser pistol and drag her by the neck towards the new, and rapidly cooling, hole in the wall. Beyond it, you see a narrow metal den, many pipes, handles and netting line the wals, and you get a brief view of a fifth figure. It wears white armor, in contrast to the solid colours of the others, and appears to wield no weapon.

Then the white figure thrusts an arm towards you, and a wave of pure delicious hits you full on. Your teeth lose grip on the green armor of the silph as you are knocked back outside and across the hangar floor.

"Hostiles!" the bearded human in the yellow suit shouts, pointing a bright light at you.
The huge creature points its oversized phaser towards you.

You briefly consider lunging for the white one who can throw its Deliciousness around, but it is behind all the others, and in the dead-end of their transport vessel. Instead you give the group a gesture to indicate you would like to mate with them. Then you leap, springing onto the wall as a beam of energy scars the floor where you were and then spring off that wall as it shatters when a second beam hits it, leaving just the lower half of the temporary wall standing.

You run along the tops of the temporary walls, darting about to try to lose the spotlight, but it stays with you. The Human's weapon fires, and you are pelted with a spray of metal pellets. Most of them miss, and the rest don't seem to be able to get through your scales, having lost most of their power at this range.

You drop behind the walls, out of sight. Voices echo around.

"Thanks for the save."
"It was trivial."
"Thanks anyway."

"It seemed pretty scared," one says, sounding as if its voice was coming from a phone.

>Short break while I grab food. Apologies for being slow today.

Its all good, its giving me a chance to catch up
>>
>>26948970
It seems they know what they're dealing with, or at least that the creator has dangerous creatures running around her lab. Lets lure them into one of the bio-rooms we scented earlier, may be able to inflict some casualties in areas they can't react as well in.

The psionic is #1 priority. The ability to lash out at us (and presumably detect us) is too dangerous for us to leave alone, especially when in the company of the more conventionally armed teammates.
>>
Rolled 92

>>26949075
I vote and roll for luring them.
>>
>>26949117
Lure them, then take out whoever they leave to guard their exit/rear.
Sever their vocal chords if possible, and if successful on silencing them, drag them behind a wall and chow down.

If they're dumb enough to actually leave the one in their infiltration ship unguarded, go eat that instead.
>>
We got to think up a way to split them up guys.
Either that or we start making hit and run attacks. Hurt dudes bad and get the fuck out of there no time to eat.
I think we should get the plant one first since she is the weakest.
>>
>>26949232
We do have poison and other dangerous liquids in our bodies so hit and run might be good, but that raises the risk of getting hurt and making a mistake more.
>>26949165
So is the right choice.
>>
A new voice hisses over the top of the others.
"You two, find out what's burning."
"Roger."
"You come with me, we're going to find that thing and put it down. We're only here for her, but we can get extra if we bring back any of her creations.
"Okay."
"You... do your thing."
"Understood."

You see the flying creature rise above the maze of walls and begin circling. You scurry around the wreck of the vehicle, and then make your way back to the corridor of rooms.

When you reach the end of the maze, you stand under a light and look up at the flying thing. You hiss at it, baring your mandibles as you wonder if being able to puff out your feathers would help.
Sure enough, the Delicious Airborn Meatsack spots you and dives towards you.
"There he is, right side, go!"

You run down the corridor as it closes the distance, much faster then you on the ground.

>Which room do you go towards?

>>26949462
A flying creature eh?
We'd do rather well in a forest, wouldn't we? we're an ambush predator after all...unless the room is really open. If it is then they'd be able to fly above us.
>>
>>26949462
I say forest and birdsong or earth scent and mechanical clattering.
Loud places are distracting to prey.
>>
>>26949462
Hit this forest. We got a chance to take someone out without their back up fucking things up.
>>
>>26949462
Forest and birdsong
We can ambush effectively from there

Also see if there is a female in there, we can add more brood mothers for our spawn
>>
>>26949653
Why don't we focus on eliminating the invaders, hmm? Females are nice and all, but not getting shot is better.
>>
You follow the corridor as the flying creature gives chase. The twists and turns seem to slow it down and you make it to the path that smells like forest a good ten lengths ahead of the thing.

You scuttle inside and find a large room, easily twenty lengths in either direction and at least twice that tall. Increadibly bright lights shine down from above, which hurt your eyes to look at. The room is filled with tall trees with lush branches, and many undelicious things fly about from tree to tree. There appears to be a path leading through the overgrowth that strangles the base of the trees, winding to the other side of the room.

A particularly fat undelicious thing is startled by your arrival, and squarks at you.
>>
>>26949653
Now I image a whole room of tubes housing all types of women carrying offspring that were sired at different times. So that we have offspring coming in in shifts so we're never overwhelmed by them.

> Ah Number Seven seems to be doing extremely well, we need to keep an eye out for Number Eleven though, she might give out before she performs her duties.

The delicious creature circles around near the entrance, searching for you. It's path grows wider as it grows bolder, and soon enough it is within striking distance.

You leap out, net held in front claws, and use your wings for extra speed.

You catch it from below, wrapping the net around it. Before it can even react you have it entirely bound: its wingflaps are crumpled tightly against its body, and its tail is caught inside one of its wings.

You crash into one of the trees, and catch onto the rough bark with your claws. The net gets caught on one of the low hanging branches and the thing snaps at you with razor sharp teeth.

You loop some loose netting around its mouth and yank on the thread of the netting, so the whole thing tightens. You doubt it can break free anytime soon.

A close examination of the trapped things underside reveals a slit, but your stolen knowledge tells you that this species hides its genitals internally, so you are unsure.

CONSUME
>>
>>26950304
We need some proper combat mutations. We got be something other than an ambush predator at some point.
>>
>>26950383
>They haunt me, anon. Always watching, always waiting. I thought I was free.

You grab the net with a foreclaw, and scurry up into the tree canopy. Below you the chasing figure enters, and you can just make out the green armor through all the leaves before it runs into the underbrush.

You bite into the bound creatures neck, delighting in the delicious lifeblood that sprays out, coating you and spilling down to the forest floor below.

>Pick one of:
>Whipcord tail - Stabby and slashy! Not good at grabbing, balance or anything much else, though.
>Null-g bladder - Allows you limited flight even without wings, or even air. Rather vulnerable to impacts, and is rather messy if burst.
>Gills - Filter water for energy!

>Paper Making recharged [1/1]

You've been doing too much shadow quest Redaeth.
>>
>>26950579
>Whipcord tail - Stabby and slashy! Not good at grabbing, balance or anything much else, though!

Null-G bladder seems like kind of a weakness against guns.
>>
>>26950579
>Whipcord tail!
Can we actually combine it with our venom? Like, lose the ability to inject venom through bites, in trade for getting it in our tail?
>>
>>26950579
Tail is the only good choice here since we won't be needing gills for some time.
>>
>>26950618
Why not both?
>>
>>26950579
While fishy lungs sound good
were currently in space
get them tails
>>

>>

We xenomorph now.
>>

Should combo nicely with teeth.
>>

Whipcord tail
>>
>>26950621
We dont even need to breath anyway.
>>
>>26950618
>You can! You would no longer need Fangs
>>26950636
>Both would require two biomorph slots. You only have 4 free, minus one for this current morph.

>How about a vote:
>[ ]Tail venom spine
>[ ]Envenomed Fangs
>[ ]Both?
>>
>>26950579
The tail. The answer should always be the tail
>>
>Null-g bladder

When will we ever get another opportunity for this?!
>>
>>26950685
True, but the added energy from water can be a great boost in underwater events.
>>
>>26950699
>[ ] Both
At least for now, since we still have slots free. We can devolve one or the other later.
>>
YES, missed the last thread, and missed you too, toque. will catch up and hope it keeps going
>>
>>26950699
Both
Wanna get a size upgrade next
>>
>>26950699
Both, we can switch them out later, when we get more stuff.
>>
>>26950699
Both sound useful for now and we can always change it later.
>>
>>26950699
I would say both but that would just waste a biomorph slot. The tail can be cut off, the fangs can't. I vote for venom on the fangs. Also, would having venom on both increase the amount of usable venom?
>>
>>26950699
Both
>>
>>26950699
Tail I think. It would have more reach
>>
>>26950751
We could catch a boot to the face and break our teeth.
>>
>>26950833
Shhh, those are technicalities.
>>
The end of your body begins to extend and harden. A whiplike spiney tail hangs below you. You swish it from side to side, lashing at the tree you are hiding in. Bark splinters when you hit, sliced off from the impact. Your tail has limited, it's almost like hard rubber, flexible, but strong. The force comes from your body, and the momentum you give the strikes. From a barb on the top of the tail, near the end, deadly venom drips.
>Deadly Neurotoxin [3/3]
>Both fangs and tail use the same resource bank, for simplicity.

From below you hear a shout. "Found you!"
Phaser blasts fly up into the tree canopy and leaves next to you catchs fire. Another a branch falls as a blast blows through the thin wood.
>>
>>26950915
Time to GTFO!
>>
>>26950915
right, lets try out our new weapon. Use the trees as cover to get close then tail whip. Use neurotoxin as well.
>>

>>26950915
Time to test out the new tail.
>>26950938
Like said.
>>
Must stay awake...so sleepy...oh well atleast I'm getting some homework done..
>>
You leap from tree to tree, carying what's left of the net with you. It's mostly intact, except for the large holes where you got a bit emphatic while you were feasting.

Phaser bursts keep arcing up into the tree tops, but they aren't too close to you. You have some difficulty finding the silph on the floor below you; its green armor and leafy 'hair' causing it to blend in.

You ponder your next move.
>Hit and run - slash with the tail!
>Go for the kill - Stab and bite and fight!
>Leave - It's too hard to spot, go eat the others or lure this one out.

>Use poison y/n?

The poison causes intense pain, so if we inject them, their screams will call others. Then we can ambush the others.

You drop to the floor, catching your fall with your wings right before landing in a soft bush. You slink through the undergrowth towards the silph, weaving around treetrunks and ignoring the birds that fly away from you.

The delicious wood critter has stopped firing and is creeping along the path. Its eyes dart around the trees, looking for you above. You stop yourself from giggling too loudly.

The silph pushes something on the arm of its suit, and speaks in a low voice.
"I think sarge is down. Team two, do you read?"
There is a burst of static and it shakes its arm.
"Blasted piece of crap." it mutters under its breath.

When the creature's back is turned you leap out from the bush that conceals you, covering the distance in a moment. You slash at it with your, hitting between the armored plates on its back and shoulders, and scoring a deep gash with your envenomed spine. "Ahhh!" it screams.
>Deadly Neurotoxin [2/3]

It spins to face you, but you leap away into the bush, changing direction immediately as phaser blasts sear foliage behind you.

"That fucking burns you bitch!"

You glance back at it while trying to escape. It doesn't seem impaired by your attack though.

Rolled 86

I second this one.
>>
>>26951404
>You ate all of it, as well as bits of the net and the tree you were standing on. All that's left is a blueish red smear on the tree and forest floor below you.

You call out to the thing chasing you. "Would you like another? I got it from the blue Flying Meatsack. They were delicious!"
Your answer comes in the form of three phaser blasts, blowing chunks out of the tree near you. You continue scurrying through the undergrowth.

You scale up a large tree, staying on the other side of it to remain hidden, using your claws to climb quickly.

You wait quietly on a branch above and soon the Delicious noises of your persuer approach. You wait until the silph is below you before dropping down onto it.

Somehow your prey notices you and manages to raise its arms in time to block your claws on its armored plates. You slash away anyway, shredding the embedded electronics, but unable to harm the creature directly. You whip your tail down at its stomach, but the blow is absorbed the ceramic armor on its chest, which shatters from the force of the blow.

The phaser fires, searing your scales on your chest, causing pain to lance through you.

>cont.
>>
You jump away from the thing and as you leave you whip with your tail horizontally at its legs. You manage to hit something, and you hear an echoing crack. Pained cries chase you as you flee more phaser blasts. You take another hit on the wings, melting scales and wing membranes.

You are bleeding. You are hungry.
You prey's breathing is ragged, and you can hear it whining.

It has stopped chasing you.
You peer through a patch of dense vines, and see it shuffle slowly toward the exit, dragging a broken leg along the ground.

>Mantas
Huh...I'm starting to wonder if old earth just had a massive nuclear war, and all the animals got turned into sentient species.
Neat
>>
>>26952016
>On that... I'll show a little of my hand:
>I think using real life animals as a basis is good because it gives the players something to work with and visualise. It's also a classic sci-fi trope to have 'bug aliens' and such. I try to mix it up, for example your mate is a 'tripod', triangularly symmetric creature with three arms and three legs, but it's hard to describe them in the short amount of time and character I have available. "Space stingrays" conveys a lot of meaning in very few words and allows one to visualise it, which I think is important if you want to know where to stab to find its heart.
>>
>>26952087
if you base any of them on something which exists, run a quick google image search, we might be able to visualise this easier. thanks for the thread
>>
>>26952087
Oh, well that's fair enough then I suppose. I wasn't complaining, course, a universe filled with sentient animals is pretty funny to imagine (and perfect for the quest's premise)
>>

that means that the Biomes that the good doctor has running are actually lobotomized sentients
>>
>>26952258

>>
>>26952352
zombies don't evolve though
>>
>>26952352
>eats only brains
No, we eat *psychic power*. Because the psion shot a wave of what we sensed as 'deliciousness' at us to knock us away. The deliciousness we sense in sapient beings is latent psionic power. I guess that power is the fuel we use to evolve.
>>
>>26952369
Not with that attitude, they don't.
>>
Rolled 53

>>26952415
If we're a psi-vore we _desperately_ need to eat psychics.

If Deliciousness is a psychic phenomena, psy powers might allow us to eat things faster.

Eating more is even better than Showing Them All.

We might even be able to eat one of those bloody multibody things if we could get a few upgrades there. (Cheating Deliciousness keeps ringing away!)
