Predator Quest: Episode 53

You are Three-Claw, a Yautja hunter of the Cloud Viper clan. You have been tasked by your clan Matriarch to investigate breaches of forbidden knowledge by clan Weyland on the planet Fey'lenn, or Pandora, as it is known in the human tongue. Your investigations have ultimately led you to Earth - where you will strike out at Weyland-Yutani's headquarters.

You and Burning-Scythe begin to analyse the signals being pumped through the inactive synthetics. You discover these synthetics are inactive for maintenance, and will automatically be rebooted for service after two hours, ready for patrol through the R&D levels.

By subtly manipulating the controls, you can drastically change the parameter balances.

Do you:

A. Increase paranoia
B. Increase aggression
C. Minimize aggression
D. Minimize attention

>> D. Minimize attention

You tune the parameters to minimize synthetics' sense of attention. This should make them effectively blind, and extremely easy to sneak past.

The changes take into effect immediately. You also discover a back door channel with which you can implement and hide a remote worm for further sabotage.

Do you:

A. Implement a worm which allows you to remotely hack the synthetic's ocular systems, allowing you to see what they see. (DC: Medium)
B. Implement a worm to allow you to remotely deactivate them. (DC: Medium)
C. Implement a worm to allow you to remotely control their every movement. (DC: Hard)

You implement a back door which allows you to remotely deactivate the drones at a moment's notice.

You have the choice of inserting additional backdoor controls, but Burning-Scythe reminds you that you risk detection by doing so.

A. Implement a worm which allows you to remotely hack the synthetic's ocular systems, allowing you to see what they see. (DC: Medium)
B. Implement a worm to allow you to remotely control their every movement. (DC: Hard)

You quickly disengage your probes from the diagnostic systems, not wanting to risk detection. You suddenly hear footsteps inbound. It's a patrol, coming to sweep the area. You quickly make a gesture to your team to leave the area.

You exit the synthetic maintenance bay in a hurry.

As you make your way back towards the lifts, you hear a lot of commotion coming from one of the weapon storage bays.

Do you:

A. Get back to the elevator bank and go to a different floor.

>>B. Investigate the commotion over at the weapon storage bay.

Deciding to see what the commotion is about, you carefully make your way through the maze of corridors towards the weapon storage bay.

You hear the thumping of a power loader. You take a peek around the corner. The loader seems to be carrying a pallet with two autocannons strapped to it towards the cargo lift.

Three technicians walk alongside it, dragging a grav sled full of ammunition.

You listen in on their conversation.

"Any idea why we're hauling friggin' cannons to the R&D lab? Wonder what they're shooting down there."

"Xenoborgs."
"What?"
"You heard me. They're strapping guns to xeno morphs and rewiring their brains to remotely control them."
"Bullshit. I call complete bullshit."
"Whatever. Come on, let's just get this done so I can go home. Did you remember to request security access for the cargo lift?"
"Yep. Let's go."

Do you:

B. Turn around and head back towards the elevator bank
C. Turn around and head towards hazardous material storage.

>>A. Follow the technicians towards the cargo lift.

You maintain your distance, and follow the cargo haulers towards the lift. The group is greeted by four synthetic guards, standing in front of the lift doors.

They exchange some words, and all eight of them step into the lift.

As the last grav sled full of ammunition rolls onto the platform, however, warning lights begin to flash. The technician puts the sled into reverse and backs out.

"Damn. Over the weight limit," he grumbles. "You guys go first. Send the lift back up for me."

The technician driving the power loader acknowledges, and closes the lift door. You hear a deep whine as the lift descends, leaving the lone technician with his grav sled waiting patiently.

Do you:

A. Ambush the technician and knock him out.
B. Stalk over to the lift doors under cloak and be ready to enter the lift once it arrives.
C. Leave the lift alone and return back to the elevator banks.

>>B. Stalk over to the lift doors under cloak and be ready to enter the lift once it arrives.

You and your team carefully sneak past the the technician and press yourselves against the walls flanking the lift doors while under cloak.

You wait patiently until the lift returns, and the doors open. The lift is empty inside. The technician flips a switch and engages the grav sled, moving it forward. You make a gesture to your teammates, and follow him in.

The doors close, and the lift descends. A while later, the doors once again open, and you find yourself deep in the bowels of the Weyland facility. Immediately in front of you is a large storage room, filled with unmarked crates. The technician exists, and drives the grav sled forward.

A floating spherical drone approaches him and begins to slowly scan the cargo.

You motion your team to hide behind a wall of crates, out of sight. A light electrical arc jumps from Sharp-Strike's arm as his cloak drops, but a split moment later, his cloak re-engages once more.

"Anti-cloak gas. Concentration is dropping, since we shut down the drone misters, but some are still present. Be careful." Burning-Scythe tells you.

You hear intermittent gunfire in the distance.

You and your team exit the storage facility and through the maze of corridors. You identify several key areas; personnel dormitories, equipment lockers, and offices. However, the anti-cloak gas concentrates towards the more high security areas are still too high.

You do, however, notice several highly secure networks which you cannot access without the proper biometrics, including retinal and fingerprint scans. You do, however, discover the servers behind these networks are all hosted within the building.

With nothing left to do in the office, you carefully back out.

>>D. Return to the storage room.

You take a trip back to the storage room.

The room is lined with crates of various sizes. After performing a cursory scan, you find most of the crates contain munitions and various parts of human ships.

A long, rectangular crate placed against the back wall catches your attention. This particular crate seems to be about 15 meters in length with a square cross section of two meters by two meters.

You approach it, and scan it with your visor. It seems to be filled with some sort of fuel. Burning-Scythe takes out his plasma cutter and cuts open a small hole in the crate.

You peek inside, and find the contents to be a booster engine - as mounted by the smaller human ships. It seems to be in perfect operation. The fuel, you realize, is highly flammable.

Do you:

A. Attempt to see if it's possible to activate the engine.
B. See you can puncture a hole in the tank and let the fuel slowly seep out.
C. Place a drone mine on the booster and set it to detonate remotely.

You set your sights on the data archives. Half way there, you notice two groups of synthetic guards changing shifts. The new group, you recognize were the inactive ones you encountered on the engineering level.

The new guards stare straight ahead and completely ignores their peripheral vision as they march down the hall.

You follow behind them as they head for the data archives. The thick doors to the archives open. You follow the patrol through. They sweep the area about as well as blind mice, and exit, leaving you inside.

You begin to tap into the archives.

You discover a tremendous amount of data stored within six rows of large server racks, which would take a long time through to sift and filter. Burning-Scythe suggests you transfer their entire contents to your wrist computers, but such a transfer would take about half an hour to complete, during which you may be detected.

>>B. Weapons R&D

You exit the data archives and make your way towards the weapons research labs. The labs consist of many glass-walled chambers, and with each, different weapons systems are worked on and designed.

You immediately notice several Yautja plasma-casters mounted on test benches in one of the lab chambers. Several seem to be human replicas, but at least two are of original Yautja construction.

Another lab chamber contains a scaled down replica of a ship-board plasma cannon. This one seems to be of human construction, but the power core supplying it with energy is of Yautja design.

In another chamber, you notice a modification of the standard human smart-gun. This one, however, has a tri-beam targeting system mounted to it, similar to what you have on your shoulder. Of the three chambers, only this one is currently staffed. Several scientists are currently performing tests on the prototype weapon.

Which chamber do you want to examine in greater detail?

It's alright. This just means that Mr. Scientist is a heavy sleeper.

Welp. It was only a matter of time. Guess that's it for our streak.

Unfortunately, we fail, vs. DC 11.

Write-up incoming.

>>A. Use the holo-emitter to wake the scientist and lure him out. (Fail, vs. DC 11.)

You point the holo-beam through the glass window and direct to towards the sleeping scientist.

You sweep the beam across his eyes. He yawns, and wakes up.

You project the silhouette of a human standing outside the chamber, and knock on the door.

The scientist yawns once again. "Who is it?"

You knock once more on the door.

"Dr.Greene? That you? No, can't be," he mutters, "not at this bloody hour. Where's my useless assistant?"

He shouts to behind him, "James, go get the bloody door."

A panel from the wall opens, and a synthetic steps out. "Yes, doctor," he acknowledges, and begins to head towards you.

Do you:

A. Back away from the door immediately.
B. Wait until he opens the door, and stick a shock-knife in him. (DC: Medium)

>>B. Wait until he opens the door, and stick a shock-knife in him. (Pass, VS. DC 12)

You pull a shock knife from your belt and grip it tight.

You listen as the locks disengage, and the door opens. You quickly lunge forward and thrust the shock knife into the synthetic's gut. With a twist of a handle, the knife activates and sends the synthetic into a wild spasm. Milky liquids leak from its eye sockets as its insides are electrocuted.

Sharp-Strike dashes forward, still under cloak, at the surprised scientist. He slams a fist against the side of the humans' head and knocks him out cold. You quickly drag the synthetic corpse inside and shut the door.
