You are Percius Aurex, Captain of a raider-class pirate vessel. Formerly the 14th son of a noble family, you fled that life in search of adventure and to escape your status as a political pawn. Having volunteered to return to your home sector, Paxia, in order to secure information about a supposed gateway into the unexplored sector Corgus. A choke-point of goods flowing into and out of the frontier sector, ripe for Lord Wilson's wolf pack to plunder. If you don't get caught and killed for being a pirate, that is. Your journey from Deus to Paxia encountered a small hitch, however, and the fickle nature of warp travel has cast your vessel and, thankfully, your partner's vessel into the year 340.M41. Undaunted, Captain Morix and yourself began your infiltration mission by visiting your home world, Garenthis.Returning home under the name of the man you cut down to capture your vessel, Captain Menexel, you found that old enemies and old friends still thrived. Your family, not so much. Shortly after your escape from this forsaken world, your father and several siblings were assassinated. Assuming control of your noble family, your step-mother bled the family nearly to destruction until your eldest brother exposed her and her son as heretic cultists. Mortally wounded, your family name hangs upon the edge of oblivion, the various siblings left mostly to fend for themselves. Finding it impossible to not contact your younger sister Synne, you ended up adding both her and your older sister Alica to your crew before departing home once again.
>>27007995Heading toward the Imperial Navy stronghold of Steward's Gate, you set out to further your mission upon a civilian station. Finding an information broker that wanted a massive sum of wealth for the information he claimed was what you desired, you departed his company under the guise of consulting with your partner, the obscene offer standing. Visiting a bar with Tes acting as your bodyguard, you eyed a few Imperial Navy officers as possible alternative sources of information. Your first attempt led to you speaking with a Lord Commissar, and you found yourself quite thankful that you'd kept and read Captain Menexel's old journals. Swapping your identity's old war stories with Commissar Hugh, you gained a powerful, if temporary, contact within the Imperial Navy's stronghold. Afterwards, you found yourself speaking with a First Lieutenant Rebin Periun. Despite your smoldering hatred of the Periun family, particularly that bastard Keriut Periun, you spent a... lustful few hours with the woman. One day, you hope to tell Keriut how she blushed afterwards, offering her hat to you as a token. Emperor, you'd enjoy that.Returning to your vessel, you took up the Lord Commissar's offer of seeking out a few odd jobs from the Imperial Navy, quickly selecting a patrol of the uninhabited systems around your XO's home-world of Barivia. If Captain Morix can be convinced to join you, you'll likely be able to collect a healthy bounty from destroying any crude ork vessels encountered, and possibly rewards for saving any vessels under attack. Of course, you note the mission calls for you to prevent capture of Imperial warp drives by orknoids. Wiggle room during your sanctioned privateering, perhaps.
>>27008035You take your sisters to the civilian station over the next few days, hoping to improve your bartering skills and learn to appraise goods while they indulge in the female past time of shopping. Unfortunately, it seems that the prices everywhere are horribly inflated, even to your untrained eyes. Though your sisters manage to pick up a few trinkets, it seems the only thing within their price range is flirting, often to your silent irritation. Eventually Captain Erik Velant's vessel returns to Steward's Gate, his massive Dauntless-Class light cruiser immediately venting a massive plume of plasma into the void that excites your ship's augers. Chief Enginseer Advinessa links herself with the auger display, the image focusing upon the contact and soon converted into a representation of both the ship and plasma plume. "Omnissiah, that tortured spirit" whispers Advinessa. A distress call ripples through the void a moment later, a voice straining over the chaos of blaring alarms. "Unyielding Faith requires immediate assistance. Orknoid boarding parties have taken root within the vessel's bilge. Reinforcements requested to retake the ship! All civilian traffic, keep your distance."
>>27008059"Captain, I believe I detect the remnants of an orknoid vessel embedded in 'Unyielding Faith's port side." Advinessa's robed head turns toward you, only her strangely unaugmented frown visible."Message from Steward's Gate, Captain. >>27008155>>27008386Your crew is quick to respond to their battle stations, Kihomi reporting to her station and quickly bringing your vessel into what you'd consider a back flip before the engines give your sense of balance a minor rock. At some point, you amuse yourself with the thought that your vessel is rocketing 'up-side-down' in orientation to your destination, though you're well aware such things don't matter unless you're within spitting distance of another ship. Morix's vessel is hot on your aft, and your ships quickly taking position around Captain Velant's vessel. For nearly two days your vessels lazily orbit, only a pair of transports requiring any attention on your part, though Morix is forced to fire a warning salvo at the one she intercepts. You're certain the Naval Captains were hoping she'd accidentally hit and detonate the civilian transport's plasma drive, though. With a curt thanks and little chance to even respond from the Navy, you return to your orbit and request Captain Morix shuttle over to your vessel.Morix sighs as she takes a seat in your plotting room, her plain clothing unbuttoned to nearly her naval as she fans herself with her rather simple hat. "My apologies, Captain Aurex. My shuttle's environmental systems malfunctioned on the flight over and we were unable to compensate for the craft's heat buildup. You had something to speak of in private?""I've been considering taking on a patrol and privateer job for the Navy, and your vessel would make collecting orknoid bounties much easier." You slide a dataslate with the mission information to her. "Do you need a towel or change of clothing, perhaps? I'm sure Enginseer Yulem is taking care of your craft's malfunction."
>>27009589"I'll be fine, and yes she is." Morix quickly reads over the mission data, her face slowly contorting into a scowl. "Eight months is a long time, on top of the delay it took us to get here. I don't like it, Aurex. News of your alias' demise could reach here tomorrow and we'd have the Navy on top of us before we were even aware. On top of that, orks distracting the navy is good for us. Why are we sticking our necks out for the people that will put us all to the sword without hesitation?" Regarding you for a moment, she seems to pull her lip over her teeth. "This isn't because you're Imperial born, is it? I've no interest in dying for the Imperium as a damned pirate.">Orders?>Convince Morix to join you on the mission [Provide argument for bonus to roll]>Not worth the trouble, let's chat about something else>Let's go see the information broker, instead>Let's see if the navy will help us with what we want...>Other?[sorry for the delay, I feel like the last kid on a team in dodgeball right now]
>>27009609She's right, if word comes back about Menexel's death we're fucked.I suppose we could take the patrol offer to make IN ships think we're friendly and then take the opportunity to stab them in the back before cheesing it.Although there's still our primary mission of finding a way to Corgus, which I think we should concentrate on for the moment.Perhaps we can try and steal them from that guy who was selling for a ridiculous price?
>>27010138Stealing the information might be possible though we should bring Morix with us. We can tell the man we had a drink with a friend "Lord Commissar" Hugh. It might scare him enough to give us the information or at least as a descent price. Or we could just ask the navy and mention the commissar's name like we did to get the job lists.
>>27009609After we have the data I say we send Morix ahead of us with the information while we go on hunting Orks. The main reason why I wanted to go on the patrol in the first place is we might learn something about the planet we are "protecting" from our XO.
>>27009609Also, We should make it perfectly clear that it doesn't matter where we were born as there is only one type of life for us now. (Proceed to hum what would be the equivalent of "A Pirate's life for me")

There is at least one door that may house additional guards. This is also all fairly deep in the station's interior, perhaps half a kilometer from the shuttle bays and docks, in which you noticed at least four arbites on your original passage.>mention Lord Commissar Hugh>Attempt to get info from Navy>learn about Barivia from XOBarivia is a fairly mountainous world where most of the water is underground or in lakes. You sigh at Morix's words. "I suppose you're right, it is a rather large risk." Ignoring her query into your reasoning, you stab at an activation rune upon the table. "Get me an encrypted vox channel to Steward's Gate and the officer of the watch."In a few moments you have a secure vox channel, and even a flickering pict view of the poor officer on duty. In less than an hour you've got your mark practically trembling, his voice quietly begging you not to mention him to the Lord Commissar. With a hearty laugh, the Lord Commissar steps into the pict and roughly slaps his hand onto the officer's shoulder. "Captain Menexel! Why, if I didn't know better, you must have been a commissar in Battlefleet Deus. I've good news and bad, I'm afraid. Captain Velant was slain aboard his ship, Emperor rest his soul. I'm told you had a message pending to him, and I believe your conversation with Lieutenant Olisford here has revealed your reasons." The officer's eyes are locked upon the bolt pistol that sits upon Commissar Hugh's hip. "I believe, due to both your past and recent service to He on Terra and the Navy, we can see that you're helped in your goal. Lieutenant, give Captain Menexel the information he needs."
>>27012684Calming himself as the Commissar departs, Lieutenant Olisford quickly sends you information on a convoy being formed by the Celentis Dynasty. "The convoy will depart for Corgus in eight weeks, 4 civilian ships and patrol group 'Ultima' will be happy to allow your vessel to join th-" Raising your hand, you stop the Lieutenant. "If it was not noticed before, I have another vessel traveling with me. They'll be coming along as well."The officer mimes a groan. "Fine. We'll fit you both in, but that doubles the charge. Fifteen million thrones for the navigational charts required to join the convoy. Expect to spend a year in transit and to consume just under two months of supplies. We'll need you to shuttle over the convoy payment as soon as you're able. >>27012692Well this is a better deal and we should have enough if we combine our wealth with Captain Morix.

With a grin, you invite Captain Morix to join you in visiting the station of Steward's Gate. "I'm more than fine staying off the Navy's station, Captain Aurex."Boarding one of your aquila landers, you enjoy a pleasant chat with Morix where she proceeds to call you a variety of things that quite frankly sum up to "You're an insane man". You doubt you can blame her, especially with her decided lack of social manners. "Anything you want me to look into for you while I'm looking over their captured goods?""I'm in need of any kind of sealed armor you can find. My first mission didn't go too well, and I need to replace losses.""I'm hoping they have melta guns, myself."Morix looks at you for a moment, her arms crossing her chest as she laughs. "Oh, you're... something else, Aurex. Thinking the Navy will sell off melta weapons instead of hoarding them?""I'll get them eventually."
>>27014005Morix's crew loads her half of the payment onto your aquila lander, the craft departing for Steward's Gate and meeting a lighter loaded down with your own half of the payment. The massive station slowly comes into view as you approach, your pilot gasping slightly as the station's size becomes apparent. What at first looked like frigates docked as a squadron slowly turning into a squadron of massive, multi-kilometer cruisers. As your craft vector toward a shuttle bay, you begin to pick out banks of lance turrets, each pair likely drawing power comparable to your entire ship's output. Emperor, this station is grand. You are greeted in the hangar bay, a junior officer quickly leading you through the station after you sign a release of your payment in triplicate. The structure is a massive maze of twisted passages, servo skulls flying past just as often as servitors halt to allow you passage. Air grows thick with the smell of oils and machinery as you approach a large catwalk, a sprawling storage area below you filled with objects beyond your ability to easily count. A white-robed figure stands before you, mechadendrites dancing about in a shockingly coordinated dance. Noticing your approach, the hooded head turns to you as a synthetic voice greets you. "Captain Menexel. I am Magos Reik, I've been informed that you may have interest in some of the equipment below?">What equipment do you inquire about?

Hats and other clothing not claimed by victorious crew have been destroyed, Melta guns and bionics of any quality inspected for purity and put into the Navy's service. Or destroyed and their materials reclaimed for the Omnissiah's servants to craft new tools of war."The officer beside you chimes in, quite amused by you. "And what crew would leave alcohol to be claimed by others?""Armored void suits are another matter, however. Most of the intact examples have been reclaimed for the Navy's service, though many of the damaged examples could be used to craft functional suits. As it is, my goal is to put the equipment not worth the time of my techpriests and adepts to better use. Scrapping many of these things still consumes the time of the Omnissiah's servants.">Inquiry mode continues

Range: 0.5km>The only real benefit to the Mk 3 is that it is small, light, and operates off a standard las charge pack for 6 hours.Mk 1 Voidcaster Vox caster systems: [Upgrade, Communications, Mining] 10 wealth per Company-level supply [d3 units available]>The Mk 1 Voidcaster is a considered an inferior civilian communication set, the heavy caster's long range coming at the cost of all encryption routines. Range: 20 VU>Mk 1 Voidcasters are robust systems, designed to survive micrometeorite impacts and other hazards of asteroid mining and allow remote survey teams to keep in contact with their home vessel. They are best employed as fixed position units, but may be carried like a standard vox caster with some effort. May be powered by a deploy-able lux panel or by las charge packs.

Featuring a second pair of engines and a heavy addition of armored plating, the 'Ugly' lives up to it's name in every way. This craft is capable of deploying a single squad of armed and armored men through the craft's 'belly' after firing melta charges to breach an enemy ship or installation. It can then function as an airlock or simply a passage for other forces deployed among the target's exterior via the rear loading door. Uglies are notoriously difficult to pilot and incapable of atmospheric flight.>Scrap options will return a fraction of usable equipment based upon an extended tech-use roll. The Magos considers the time and effort required to reclaim the goods too great when his station has more pressing concerns.>List is still open ended, if there are inquiries into other things that may be of use.
>>27023973My vote is to grab enough of those Assault Lighters to rig up a useable one, because the ability to breach a section of hull and then effectively become an air-lock would be great for fast action snatch and grab jobs, or even reclaiming a part of a space hulk if we can rig up more.
>>27023967Let's see...Morix wanted to acquire some armor so we should get her a mix of the Rockhound and Carapace void suits. I have an interest in the Mk 3 Vox caster system as it's small and light and maybe look into buying some of the Las weapons as we "might" be able to do something with them.

Curse you and your knowledge of basic economy, Reik!15% is still a nasty discount... but we're dealing with hot merchandise here, so we might as well.I'll see if I can make a proper shopping list.20 wealth of armor for our fellow captain and I'll say 90 wealth reserved for our own purchases with the rest going into our stash. Now, give me a moment.
Rolled 18>>27026377>>27026256>>27023967I started making a list and realized nobody rolled for the flak void suitsSo, here.

>>27026574Also feel free to disregard that roll, I left the dive on by accident. And left out my name earlier, but whatever.
>>27026574If I can get a second for those lists, I'll allow bartering on each list.>example"Rolling to convince Reik to throw in an extra three units of flak armor, as we're buying out the Rockhound and Carapace armor, along with 5 units of Flak."1 barter roll is allowed for Morix's list and 1 for your own.
>>27026710Bartering/Haggling, that is.
>>27026710Either nobody likes my post or everyone went to sleep, as I should in some half an hour.
>>27026574I second the list.
Rolled 75>>27027267Yay.I'll roll for convincing the Magos to throw in some of the material we will need to repair the equipment we bough with the repair machine. Which we also bought.Specifically, rolling for Morix and her voidsuits.
Rolled 4Also rolling to try and get him to give us some of the material we need to fix the Arvus Lighter wrecks.
>>27027363>>27027672Magos Reik's manners vanish as you attempt to barter. "I offered the Navy's scraps, not it's resources. Goods and payment for your gems will be delivered shortly." Returning the two gems to your sister, the Magos turns back to whatever it is he is doing, the officers forming your escort quickly ushering both you and your sister away.Your lighter bays are an absolute mess after the exchange, though Advinessa notes the repair equipment has come with some extra supplies for maintaining the equipment itself. "I can make use of most of the repair equipment, though I'll need dedicated space to do so, Captain." Orsola nodding beside her. "We've filled our lighter bays to capacity, even after we send Captain Morix her goods. We'll need to place some of the wrecked lighters into storage areas. As it is, we'll have both Keel bays dedicated to rebuilding a single lighter each and little else.""Would we be able to convert some of our reaver holds into workshops for the equipment?" Alica's suggestion gains the attention of both techpriests. "We would sacrifice nearly half of our cargo capacity in order to optimize the equipment's use, but that is a solution." Advinessa smiles. "We could turn one of the smaller lighter bays into a dedicated workshop later, but I believe we would sacrifice nearly all of our remaining space for lighters by doing so."Orsola looks to you once again. >>27030524There was that circle on the map where he suspected a port for the likes of our kind so I suspect we will search that area first.
>>27030524Yes, he did. You'll be able to gain the path into Corgus and the positions of systems that the convoy visits, if you don't choose to part with them early. You'll also be able to contact him to get updates on his status and such.>8 weeks until departure.>Current Wealth: 21 (23.2 with precious metal bars)>Any actions for timeskip?>Resupply ships to 6 months of supplies before departure? >>27030709That would be this map, the Yellow area being roughly where you should end up from this convoy and the red circle being where Lord Wilson expected to set up shop. You believe the coordinates he actually gave for his current location are more toward the center of the map, however.
>>27030823Perhaps we can spend the 5 wealth on emergency rations or something? And I don't see why we shouldn't allow Morix to spend the rest of her funds.
>>27030823I say lets save our wealth for now as prices are indeed high here and let Morix go wild with whatever she wants to buy.
>>27030823Also, commence the time skip!
That guy said we can expect to use up just under two months of supplies, so we have enough to be fairly confident we won't starve to death in transit, however, finding supplies once we arrive is a whole other issue.
>>27031026>>27031393same anon? Also, your departure to Corgus will be the end of this week's thread, as perils will be dealt with at the start of next week. [and I expect some of veterans recall a certain bout of perils]So, anything you'd like to take care of before possible warp shenanigans should be taken care of.
>>27031624Yes same anon. It's me MS. giggity.
>>27031624>So, anything you'd like to take care of before possible warp shenanigans should be taken care of.Have our Sisters ever experienced warp travel before? Such an extended jump might be bad for them if they've had no prior experience.Of course that's only really relevent so long as they're not being mindfucked (literally) by daemons.
>>27031919They experienced the warp jump to Steward's Gate and are well versed in Imperial litanies of protection.Elise, Keller and your Originals have been giving them basic combat training.
>>27032106Weeeeeelllllll I can't think of anything else to do.....Maybe do some practice sword fighting with our sisters and officers during the downtime?Give them some experience and make us better at the same time.

>>27032537>>27032538Time passes in a blur as your crew sets about countless tasks to prepare your vessel for a year of warp travel, though you'll only experience around two months. For a short time, your vessel docks with the station to take on additional supplies and fuel. Alica manages to secure the supplies at a reasonable price with what remains of her own funds from home, 'a thanks' for what you've done for her and Synne. The poor fool doesn't seem to understand just what her future holds. You press home that fact as you help train your sisters in the realities of combat, interrupting their drills with Keller or Elise with your own attacks. It pains you each time your sisters cry out as you take a baton to an overextended leg or even strike directly at their ribs, but you hold little back against them. If you're soft upon them, you risk making them weak. You've seen too many of the weak die by your hand or the hands of others around you. Synne is the first to block one of your attacks, though Elise is quick to sweep your sweet sister's legs from under her and put a dangerously honed knife into the thin mat beside her neck after she pauses to beam at you. "You're dead, girl. Reset." Alica never says a word about the vicious nature of your training, even when she is hobbled by one of your blows. To her credit, sacrificing her leg by parrying your blow into it did allow her to deliver a 'fatal' blow to your neck with her training weapon.
>>27033156As your crew reports ready for warp travel, you take one last look at the assembled convoy on your augers, your own ship's warp shutters sealed and the heavy locks that hold them reverberating as they strike home. Four transports from the Celentis Dynasty, their combined weapons more than a match for both your ship and Morix's, form the core of the group. Above them, a pair of Dauntless-class light cruiser of the Imperial Navy hold formation just as you and your fellow pirate's vessels do below. "All ships, this is Captain Ratlif. Prepare to jump to waypoint One. We'll wait three days for stragglers, then move to the next Waypoint. >>27035705Do you happen to have a twitter account for this? Also whoever archived it did a poor job. "Privateer Quest 2" is not a very useful tag for finding all the threads. Drop the quest number next time.
>>27037491Actually disregard that last bit.
>>27037491I do not have a twitter account for this and don't intend to get one, as I'm fairly consistent with when I start the threads.I'll usually start a thread or post that its canceled/delayed on Tuesday around 2-4pm EST.
