>Welcome to Bioweapon quest, a game which is (mostly) about small scale tactical combat, and getting deadlier.
>Don't be afraid to jump in if you are new!

You are a creature of simple desires. You desire to eat things. With every delicious thing you eat you grow, morph and change.

You are currently in danger. Perhaps more importantly, your next meal is in danger. You tried to spring a trap on the last of the Delicious intruders, but were interrupted before you could strike by a monsterous creature which grabbed one of the two fleshbags with an enormous tentacle and pulled it over a lake of acid. You knocked out the other, a bearded human, and then, after deciding that the armored horatian was a lost meal, threw a stolen grenade into the caustic lake.

Unfortunately you now find yourself face to face with a huge wall of glowing green acid descending towards you, thrown up by the explosion.

You realise that eating it is probably not possible.
You decide to flee.

Dropping everything else, you grab the bleeding and unconcious human in your claws and turn towards the maze of corridors.

You make it to the first corner and spring off the walls as you take it. The human flails out behind you, slamming into the wall as you drag it behind you. There is a splash as the huge wave of acid washes past, although a significant amount follows you down the new corridor.

You continue to run, sprinting down dark passages, taking turns at random as the wash of caustic fluid chases you. Eventually you've travelled far enough that the acid only covers the bottom of the tunnels, and you can escape it by clinging to the walls with your suckers.

The human is thrashing and sruggling in your grasp. The armor of its legs is melting away, and acid drips through and onto its flesh. It seems your meal was less lucky then you were.

Acid flows slowly past on the floor below you. You don't recognise where you are.

You decide there's no sense in letting this delicious burn itself to death, so you wedge yourself up in a corner, away from the acid and begin biting into the thing, crushing its corroded armor and snapping the weak bones in its neck.

You gorge, feasting on the flesh, Deliciousness seemingly unharmed by the acid.

>Provided they are appropriate for the Meal in question. Some options are not always available.

Your mind begins to change, your brain grows more complex. All of a sudden the strange black markings on the remnants of the human's suit seem to almost rearrange themselves, without actually moving.
"Engineer," they say to you in a voice that skips entirely past your ears, "Assault Team 4."

Then you feel a strange 'full' sensation in your body. A pressure of too much packed in too tight. Your belly gurlgles and you feel and awful wrenching motion in your chest as your stomach collapsed in on itself, disolving into your body.

Your ribs lace back together and fuse, becoming strong protection again. Although half of what they protected is gone. Your notice your heart beating in your chest. It feels oddly empty.

With no knowledge of which way to go, you wander for a time. You follow the maze of blank corridors this way and that, going far from the spilt acid.

You come across an intersection, and find two interesting paths. You can hear an undelicous male voice echoing from one, and from the other there is a current of cold air that flows along the ground.
>>
>>27051195
lets check out the undelicous voice might be interesting
>>
>>27051195
>undelicous male voice echoing

Radio.

>>
You scrabble off after the undelicious voice. Maybe it can lead you. As you travel the male voice is joined by a female one, and then another.

You arrive at the source of the noise to find a room brightly lit. Paper with images of humans with their skin torn off adorn the walls. There are excised organs impaled on spikes on the desk, held immobile, all undelicious. You recognise some: a heart, ovaries, a stomach.

A bed sits in one corner of the room, its bright pink cover is enormously thick and pillows are stacked up against the wall. Clothing lies all over everything, the chair, the bed, the drawers, discarded haphazardly. A worn lab coat hangs from the back of the open door.

Mounted on a wall, facing the bed, is an ancient television set. On its flickering screen you see tiny humans arguing with each other.
"But you married her!"
"Not by my choice. There was no love between us."

The scent of your creator fills your antennae. This is her nest, you realise.

>>
You feel drawn to the bed. It's soft warmth is alluring, somehow. You walk over and poke at it a few times with your claws. The padding absorbs the force entirely, plumping up and becoming even more inviting.

You scurry back to the door, and pull off the labcoat. It smells of alcohol, harsh chemicals, and numberous other things you cannot name. You slip it on, putting your arms through the holes, and folding your wings up beneath the coat.

You notice some papers on the desk. There are many words whose meaning is lost on you, but they seem to be a mixture of medical documents, detailing the reproduction of various species, a 'new method of injecting pathogens' and natural zero-g locomotion, and yellowing novels.

Then you leap onto the bed and curl up, making yourself a depression to hide in. You contemplate sleep, the strange function that Delicious creatures have many many memories of. You don't understand it, as it seems to serve no function that you can descern, at least as you are.

The television prattles away. It seems as though one tiny undelicious human mated with many females, and this caused the other females to want to eat him. This confuses you.

Much time passes and much happens to the tiny people. You close your eyes.

The more psionic you are, the more flexibility you have, basically

>That's the plan.

"Mummy!"
"Get out of my room!"

You extend your stinger, and spring from the plush bed, attempting to land on top of your creator... Who promptly sidesteps and you go tumbling through the door, hitting the wall opposite.

You stand up, nearly shredding the labcoat as your wings move to try to balance you. "Why did the human females want to eat the undelicious human?" You indicate the television.
"You watched my shows? Nobody's allowed to know I watch those!"
"But it smelled like you!"
The door to the room is slammed in your face. It seems very thing, you could likely break it, if you tried.

"Mummy mummy I'm hungry!" you mew at the door, sounding as cute as you can. Unfortunately your pursed mandibles don't have much effect on the stoic, unfeeling door that stands before you.
"Why are you still here?! Go away! There's still one of those marines, wandering around. Go eat him."

You reach out with your Delicious Sense, peering behind th-
You have made a terrible mistake.

Behind the door cowers a terrifying creature. It feels like four or five, and sometimes six or more, creatures all mashed together, sown by some uncaring tailor, mashed haphazardly. They thrash and coil with each other fighting for control, for dominance. But each one is incomplete, not even a full Delicious, they could not live on their own. Binding them all together is something you can only describe as iron. This thing focuses them.

THIS is why we should have taken Knowledge from the ceo/dude who used to work with her.

>>
You Scrunch shut your eyes as you try to quash your new sense, this thing behind the door offends you to your very core. It is not Delicious. Not Delicious at all! You turn, and leave your creator to deal with the monster.

You scurry down the corridor, back to the other room you found. You climb up the walls and along the roof to avoid the cold draft that flows from it, and to surprise delicious things, of course.

Soon enough you reach the room itself. It is dark, with only a few lights shining down from the roof. These illuminate many alcoves, tanks, and monuments that are spaced throughout the room. Fog billows around, crowding in the corners of the room, obscuring detail. Where the light catches the fog it becomes nearly opaque, and you can see nothing but silhouettes behind.

You look at the nearest tank. A small screen flickers in front of it. "Experiment 443," it reads, "collapsed lung." There is a huge ice block in the next alcove. Inside it is a mothlike roceron. "Experiment 1033. Subject's immune system overthrew control virus."

This is a graveyard, you realise.

>Numerous times.

This creature's deliciousness has long since left. You consider gnawing away the ice to get to it anyway, but it would take a very long time. It's just a roceron anyway. You ate four of them already.

You are clinging to the roof, amidst the many pipes, wires and tubes that run to the many alcoves. There must be something interesting nearby.

You pass over a few more uninteresting screens before finding one that seems much more relevant: A small canine creature is floating in a tube of liquid. It has leathry skin and long long teeth. An armored spine hangs from its back as it slowly rotates in suspension. It has many bite marks all over its legs and underside.
"Experiment 992846: Experiment too hungry. Tried to eat itself."

Your reading is interrupted when a wall on the far side of the hall explodes inward.

>cont.
>>
>>27053491
A Delicious howl echoes out as a large creature enters from the hidden passage. It stands half as tall again as a human on thick legs. Wicked metal claws curve out from the beings armored suit on it's legs and arms, though one arm's claws seem to have been snapped off. The huge horatian is leaking blood in a trail behind it. Its helmet is cracked, and sparks leap across in front of one of its eyes. One of its tusks seems to be been snapped off.

Smoke rises from the creature's back as acid and blood pool below it. You see it holds the remains of its oversized phaser in on hand. You feel its deliciousness wavering, not dying, but instead becoming twisted, like your creators.

The armor it wears is charred black in patches, and acid has melted off entire slabs of it. A metre long spike of steel seems to go right through one of the creature's legs.

It scans around the room and trumpets a challenge again. It advances into the room, limping toward the tunnel you came from. It sweeps its head from side to side as if looking for something.

You are hungry.

So...the deliciousness is tainted by insanity, and fighting a giant tentacle monster makes you insane?

Huh, I guess it really was Cthulhu.

Let's wait...if it's bleeding so harshly it will die soon. If we see the opportunity, let's get it from behind, but for now, no need to risk our skin
>>
You inhale sharply, filling your air sack, then let out a resounding screach. The sound echoes about the room, reflecting off all the hard surfaces, walls, ice and floor, and reverberates, building to a deafening tone. The delicious creature roars back, causing the whole room to vibrate.

It raises it's weapon and points it at another block of ice, not to far from you. There is a brief whine from the phaser, and then a huge ball of light is shot from it. It arcs slowly across the room before it sinks into the ice, causing it to explode. Shards of ice and torrents of steam pour forth from the impact. You use the expanding cloud to cover your advance as you scurry across the roof.

You spring from your hiding place, down onto the creatures back and begin slashing away at it. The armor on its hunched back is damaged, and you find it easy to tear off the plates. You dig your claws in and bite and jab at the flesh underneath. There is a thick layer of fat that absorbs most of the blows, although you do cause many stream of blood to start flowing.

The enranged Delicious creature slashes at you with its claws, raking nasty lines along your scales. It hurts! You're not sure how many more hits you can take, but it probably isn't many. This creature seems to have a lot more force behind its blows then you thought possible!

You continue to claw, trying to pull yourself deeper. Long gone is your ability to hide inside one of your kills, however. You're far too large for that now, and have many limbs that would get in the way.

You reach the layer of muscle inside the creature and bite it hard, slicing through the flesh with your mandibles. The injured meatbag trumpets in pain, and you feel it begin to stagger.

You bite again, and then the feel a momentary weightlessness as the creature falls backward. It slams its back down, crushing you beneath its massive bulk. One of your wings gets caught on a pipe and crumples, shattered in many places. You cannot help but squeal as the pain courses through your spine.

The armored thing hefts back, giving your a moment of respite before it slams down on you again, crushing your chest against the floor. It pulls back again, and right before it falls a third time, your reflexes twinge. You watch the creature's back approach you in slow motion, but you have just enough time to escape.

You pull yourself out of the way with your hands, and scramble on all of your limbs to get out of the way. Just as you clear the falling creature you lash at it with your whiplike tail, scoring a line into it's flesh with the barb and filling it with toxin.
>Deadly Neurotoxin [0/3]

The world begins to speed up as you scurry off into the thick fog that permeates the hall. You hear the Delicious creature pull itself off the ground and stand, and start to circle around, out of sight.

The creature is dying. Not very quickly, but quicker then it was. You just have to wait it out now.

As you pass in front of the stumbling creature, you see that its helmet and chest armor are still mostly intact. It spots you, and fires another overcharged phaser blast at you. You leap out of the way before it hits, melting the floor where you were standing to slag. Its gun begins to glow as it heats up. You've not seen phasers do this before.

You leap up onto the roof and out of the clinging mist. You grab onto a pipe with your suckers and try to attach yourself. The pipe groans under your weight so you flap with your wings to try to steady yourself. Pain wracks through you as your broken wing folds and the pipe collapses. You fall from it, landing on the floor below the twisted pipe.

The horatian sees you and throws the grenade to you, but you were expecting that. You whip your tail around and hit the flying bomb, smashing it back. The grenade explodes before the delicious creature can shield itself, and a fireball erupts. You leap behind one of the tanks, and let the failed experiment take the force of the blast for you. It shatters, and foul smelling orange fluid spills out onto the floor around you.

When the fire has fallen from the air, the mist that filled the hall is mostly gone, burned up in the wave of heat. You see the horatian kneeling on one knee. Its face mask and chest armor have fallen off, damaged far too much in the explosion. One of the creature's eyes is damaged, shut by a large, bleeding gash.

Its good eye focuses on you as you watch from beside the smashed tank and it struggles to get to its feet.

It roars at you again and grabs the shaft of iron that pierces its thigh with both hands. Blood flows from the wound as the delicious creature begins to draw the metal rod out.

You back away from it, wary of a creature that can be this injured and still move. The thing heaves and pulls the iron bar from its leg and wields it like a club. Rivulets of blood begin to flow down its leg, pooling beneath it. It stumbles towards you, swinging the iron bar wildly.

"I killed and ate all your allies. They were delicious!" you say.
Again it howls wordlessly, doubling in speed as it stumbles after you.

You spit at the creature's face, arcing your corrosive bile across the room. You hit its eye and it howls again, this time pained. Its voice seems to be failing.

The dying thing stumbles, crashing into a monument. It swings its weapon around blindly, shattering glass and denting pipes. You aren't even anywhere near it.

It thrashes about for a moment, before its crippled leg gives out. It hits the ground with a massive thud that shakes the hall. It struggles to move, but can't even muster the strength to pull itself forward. A few moments later it stops doing even that, and just lies dying on the floor.

You cautiously approach, but it doesn't move. It's lost most of its blood and is barely breathing. You circle around it once, just to be sure, then leap onto it from one side. You try to crush its spine, but the bones are too thick. So you kill it by slashing out its throat.

Excited over a fresh kill, you begin to feast on the Delicious creature.

>Choose one of:
>Blubber layer - Extra padded protection! Especially good against cold.
>Tusks - Slam your face into things for tons of damage!
>Heavy bones - Super dense, super strong! Might make flying more difficult.
>Knowledge - Use and maintenance of guns!

>Since you are at your biomorph limit, you can either take your chosen biomorph as 'Repressed' and keep it for later, or choose a currently 'Expressed' biormorph that it will replace.

It appears this creature wasn't significantly bigger enough to get an increase of biomass from it.
You spit up an electronic device that was inside the horatian. It seems to be leaking some clear fluid. Perhaps this was how he was able to fight until the very end.

>You can either:
>Heal (Cracked ribs, crushed wing, damaged scales)

Let's repress papermaking and use our other ability to shift and bring back ferrovoreness in exchange for Adaptive Antivenom. Nothing we've fought can even poison us anyway, it's useless.

how many fat birds do you see flying around the place?

honestly though I'm okay with building ourselves as a tank instead.

>>
>>27055357

>Yes, the 'active/useful' knowledge skills do. Things which give mechanical benefits or open new paths cost a biomorph. Misc knowledge skills are background stuff that you can call on for information at any time, but they don't really help you kill new things and they don't cost a slot.

I just want us to have an edge more than anything. As long as we can do damage fast and hard enough we dont have to be able to take hits. Hell we could just not go for knowledge for a while. We are as stealthy as we can get at this point anyway.

Well that is a fairly useless biomorph, unless we have to buy something or make a business decision for our creator i say it should get repressed next time.
>>
Your body begins to change. Fat billows out underneath your scales, and you gain a layer of padding that protects you. You feel much warmer. When you poke your scales there's a fair amount of give. You are plesantly squishy.

You focus, drawing hidden knowledge from inside you. You feel a rumbling in your chest, and your insides open up again. Soon your metal digestive systems is back up and running again.

You feel your reproductive organs shrink and dissolve. You also know you should be wary of poisons again.
>Expressed: Blubber, Ferrovore
>Repressed: Ovaries, Adaptive Antivenom

You grab the small device and drag yourself back towards your creator's nest. Your wing hurts. Your ribs and spine hurt. Your scales hurt.

When you arrive you find the door still shut. You scratch at the door with a claw, but get no reply. You curl up in a small ball, thankful that your blubber keeps the cold of the floor away from your injuries.

You doze off, and some time later you hear your creator's door open and a gasp.

Yes, anything to help cut them down, I think. Knowledge is, mostly, gonna be for cool backstory stuff, you don't want to put it on the same level as, say, bending a door with our mind, you know?

ooh. Alright then, worth keeping I'd say.

That fixes it for now anyway.
For the shifting, its because people are complacent with the upgrades and you haven't given us any situation where photovore was useful and i think we should keep telecommunications since i don't feel like repeating the mirror incident.
>>
>>27056042
>Backstory stuff isn't counted! It's only the useful skills, like driving or navigating that are. And being able to drive a motorbike is plenty useful for eating people, especially if they are on motorbikes of their own.

>>the mirror incident
>Well that's something else entirely.
>>
>>27055997
>Little retcon
Telecomm seems more useful then I originally thought though. Let's not get rid of that then. Photovore and Metalvore seem like we can keep only one active just fine

>Shifting
What do you mean 10%? Like, changing more then one thing if we need to? That would be nice, I think, since we have 40.

>Thread Quality
Huh? It seemed okay to me, if a little short and slower then normal. Nothing bad about the writing though.
>>
>>27056102
>10% as in 4 biomorphs for Medium, 3 for small. Currently you cycle 1 biomorph always.
>>
>>27056099
Oh, well we should certainly store all of those away, except the ones that come into play with a laboratory then!

Gah, why didn't we take the shift biomorph thing without eating someone thing. Now we have to wait till the heat of battle to do it.

Can I also ask what was up with Doc? She seemed especially mad at us today...
>>
>>27056135
I would totally be cool with that, then yes. We'll end up having a lot of Biomorphs and changing one wouldn't be enough.

Like, say if we want to change 'builds', we'd probably need to change more then just one thing, right?

Which is why we can repress it. We have a TON of biomorphs now, and it's certainly time to put away the ones that don't work in this situation.

At the moment, we're in a dank laboratory, so we can safely put it away, but keep our tech knowledge active.
Then we can use our more tankish powers too.

Man, I wish we could shift at the expensive of a bunch of time...it sucks that we have to be in danger to do it.
>>

>One use for Photovore is that if you're injured and forced to retreat, you could heal and recharge by just lazing about in the sun, without even moving. Which might be good if you have to hide. But your point is true: some biomorphs are less useful then others.

>>27056200
>Curiously, Photovore does let you shift at the expense of time. Provided you've in sunlight.
>Lungs that filter air to recharge bioweapons was an option on a kill you missed. It will be back eventually.
>>
>>27056295
We need an upgrade to our Fat that lets us use it to restore other biomorphs.
>>
>>27056295
>Photovore changing
...w....really?! Wait, does Ferrovore do that if we eat like a car?!

>Lungs that recharge biomorphs
WHAT?! Christ man, where were these gems? Man that's...we need to pick up some of these things as just BASE abilities. I mean, the keyest abilities we should have should ensure our survival, and our recharging of abilities
>>
>>27056338
I keep saying we should find new and exciting ways to eat things. Eating is survival, eating recharges us.

I mean, yeah, filtering air is less than delicious... but running into a gaseous Delicious Creature is probably more likely than an energy based one we can eat with Photovore.
>>
>>27056338
>Yes, both Photovore and Ferrovore give you the full 'recharge' effect, which can be used to heal, shift or recharge.
>Lungs are limited to recharges only.

>>27056379
>If it's delicious, you can Consume it. The upgrades are for eating nondelicious stuff.

>>27056402
Huh....um, so for next thread, can we eat a bunch of scrap our Mom doesn't want?

Like, a scrapyard?
I wouldn't mind finding out our next destination and then going into 'customization mode'
>>
>Remember that you can always ask your creator for information. She made you, so she does have an idea of how you work.

>>27056433
>I... uh... I guess...
>I hadn't really considered that.
>Sure!
>Is there really that much to change, though?
>>
>>27056647
Well I mean, it was just an idea.

Like, she's gonna send us somewhere, right? So we can make a few modifications based on that fact. Will there be metal or sunlight? What sort of technology? What kind of enemies?

I mean, a lot of our upgrades are becoming sorta...Mandatory, since they are basic structural upgrades, but a few we can swap around and such.

Just a suggestion, Toque. I'm just a guy that enjoys the quest. :P
>>
>>27056647
Hm...I like that idea, but I think we don't have quite enough 'over the limit' upgrades to worry about swapping now.

I mean, unless we want to purposely leave open slots. Which there's not much sense in, unless you're worried we'll end up bogged down going "Wait, we don't need THIS upgrade." while browsing the list.
>>
>>27055997
>>>Shifting.
>>On the whole, people seem reluctant to choose to shift. Does this option need to be made more powerful? Something like 10% of your active biomorphs? Would that make the option more viable?

If you want people to play The Thing, they need to be able to shift like The Thing.

also there's a need for freebies, like knowledge counting as slots = what?

>>27055997
>>>Telecom. and Photovore
>>I understand there's a lot of confusion, so I'm willing to retcon it all a little bit. With full understanding of Telecomm., are you willing to swap it for getting ovaries back? What about photovore?
Keep Adaptive Antivenin, TBH. We never know when someone's gonna come for us with drugs/gas/biowarfare viruses.(like the control virus), or other hazardous environmental effects Its one you we want to have constantly for when we need it, since we can't adapt it on the spot.

Lose ovaries tho.
>>
>>27057584
He just said that only skills derived from Knowledge takes up slots. Understandable since some of it's really useful.

I think eventually some of the basic sets will be complete and when they are they'll count for less space. Or at least I hope so.
