You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

This is your first day on the job but you're already on friendly terms with a few of the people stationed at the castle, including Sir Vincent, who it turns out is a lot nicer than he seems at first glance.

The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to be RATHER unpleasant.

But that was just a first impression, maybe she's simply having a bad day!

>Guard Rank: ANT
>Congratulations, the Princess isn't completely disgusted with you! You're a lowly Ant, which is one level above Worm!
>She still doesn't like you, though.
>Or see you as an actual person.

BOOM

Behind you, the sound of thunder rings throughout the room. Your entire body having instantly gone tense, you place your hand on the pommel of your sword, and turn back towards the source of the sound.

You could almost swear that you saw Princess Marianne jump with a muffled shriek, but you decide to ignore that.

The source of that sound? Sir Vincent, standing with a warm smile and his hands cupped.

That man let out a -literal- thunderclap.

Seeing that there is no actual danger, both you and the Princess regain your composure.

"Alright, it looks like introductions are out of the way! Reinhold, you'll be serving as the Princess's personal bodyguard. When she's out and about, you'll be at her side. Try not to embarass her, eh?" Sir Vincent says, winking at you. "Princess Marianne, please try and cut Reinhold here some slack. He's been around nothing but crude soldiers for the past few years, so I'm sure that being introduced to royalty such as yourself is a bit overwhelming."

Do you...

>>
>nod in acknowledgement

You nod in acnowledgement, Sir Vincent is right. You were in the army up until today, and aside from the occasional formal event, you'd been around nothing but a bunch of crude men. And before that, it was the whores and drunken bastards back home... while you tried your best to rise above those beginnings, you were stil completely unused to this.

"And so..."

Sir Vincent slaps your back once more, with his full weight behind it. It takes all of your strength not to get smacked forward, but you manage to stay standing in place. And with the Princess right in front of you, losing your footing would most likely result in you being launched right into her chest... and you are -quite- sure that fondling the Princess, accidentally or otherwise, would result in Sir Vincent murdering you in a most brutal fashion.

"...I'll go and inform the King that you've recieved your assignment. Farewell, Princess! Reinhold!" With that, Sir Vincent gives a slight bow and leaves the room, closing the door behind him.

With Sir Vincent's departure, the atmosphere in the room became heavy. Princess Marianne glowes at you disapproving, and walks a full circle around you, saying nothing.

"...Princess?" you say, not sure whats's going on.
"Hmph. You certainly are tall, and I hear that you did win the swordsmanship tournment, but are you actually capable of -protecting- anyone, much less me? The dueling circuit is worlds apart from actual combat, and you certainly don't give an aura of dependability."

Are you going to do it? If you want to go to jail for sexual assault sure. And I'm sure you won't because you're not the person to sexually assault people out of the blue.

>write-in choice (nice going!)

"I was in the army before I received this assignment," you start. "While I was chosen for this job because of my skill in the dueling arena, I got a chance to compete in the Tournament because of my skill in actual combat. Your Highness, I'm your last line of defense. Guards who *look* impressive get posted further out. Please have some faith, if not in me then in your Father and Sir Vincent, who selected me for this position."

"I suppose..." the Princess closed her eyes, as if she was considering something. "...that is reasonable. While Father's ability to judge character is somewhat questionable and Sir Vincent's judgement is even less so, they -are- more capable at recognizing talent than I am. I suppose it's a tradeoff..." she said with resignation.

Wow.

Did she actually accept you as her bodyguard? This might not be so bad after all!

"HOWEVER." She said loudly, as if she sensed your spirits raising. "While I shall take their word that you are more skilled than you appear to be, I'm not convinced that you'll be be anything other than a hindrance in my daily affairs. But no matter."

If we want to get laid we find some nice cute servant girl and go drinking, or if there are any hot competent female guards we get drunk and spar with them.

We do not try to fuck the princess, it will end poorly.
>>
>>27070534
The "fun and adventure" in that is getting sucked out because of waifutards like you keep discussing how you would like to fuck her.

At this point I'm tempted to vote anything of the such out of principle.

I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top swordsman in the entire Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. Your enemies are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe your enemies the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the post? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the kingdom and their parcel is being traced right now so they better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing your enemies call their lives. Your enemies are fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill your enemies in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Royal Guard and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your enemies miserable asses off the face of the continent, your highness. If only they could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon them, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. She is a political trading piece, a very valuable one used to secure alliances and treaties through marriage. Fucking her is fucking the political stability of the region, and people don't take kindly to that.

Not to mention that we're of the lowest possible birth. We don't even have a family name.

Part of you -really- wants to tell her off, but you decide that it doesn't matter what she thinks. Your job is to keep her safe, not to be her friend.

"Anyways, this is how your schedule will go," Princess Marianne started. "You'll be meeting me every morning while I have breakfast, and you'll then accompany me for the rest of the day. If you simply stay quiet and look out for danger like you're supposed to, there shouldn't be any problems. Just try to stay out of the way," she says with a dismissive tone. "Unlike the women I'm sure that you're accustomed to, I don't go out gallivanting at night so you'll be dismissed when I retire to my room at the end of the day. Then you'll be free to do whatever it is that you soldiers do, boozing or chasing skirts or the like."

"That doesn't seem to be too complicated," you say. "So I don't need to keep watch at night? To guard against kidnappers or, say... vampires? Standard hazards for a maiden of noble birth, that kind of thing," you say, half-jokingly.
"No, your presence won't be needed while I'm in my room," Princess Marianne replies. "My room is warded against entry from anywhere aside from the door, so the only way that a potential kidnapper or... vampire..." she says with a smirk, "...would be able to get in is from an entrance that is heaily guarded at night by the castle guard."
"Warded... with magic? That's pretty impressive," you say with genuine surprise. You don't even know what kind of spells that would involve...

...and was that a "nice joke" smirk, or a "what a moron" smirk?

"Yes, Father is quite insistent when it comes to my safety. That's why I'm now stuck with the likes of you," she replies, placing a hand on her hip. "Anyways, it's getting late and I have some reading to catch up on, so let's go. You can escort me to my room, and then you're free until morning."
"As you wish, Princess," you say, trying to remain polite.

You open the door for the princess (as any gentleman would) and step aside as Princess Marianne heads out, following behind her. Having lived in the castle her entire life, she maneuvers around the labyrinthine structure with total ease, quickly passing through several hallways and staircases before stopping in front of what you assume to be her room.

"This is my room, it would do you well to remember where it is. Goodnight," she says, turning around and then closing the door behind her.

You are finally free! (for tonight)

With a deep sigh of relief, you turn around and head out to...

>wander around the castle, might as well get a hang of where everything is now.

The castle is LARGE, and you figure that it would be a good idea to get your bearings and learn where everything is since you'll be living and working here now. So you wander the main halls of each floor, taking a mental note of your surroundings.

Guest rooms... library... courtyard... another library... armory... wow, this place is huge. Easily the largest building you've ever been inside. But you try not to lose yourself in the sights, you're wandering around for a reason. In the name of cautiousness, you start to take inventory of various points where potential ambushes could take place, along with what places would make for good escape routes in case the worst happens.

After all, you -are- the Princess's bodyguard. Best to make sure that you can do your job as effectively as possible.

"Ahem." you hear someone clearing their throat behind you. Slightly on-guard, you turn around...

...and are met with a well-dressed, grizzled old man. A butler?

"Good evening, sir. You appear to be lost, may I assist you?" he said with a bow.

Why would we? How often would a peasant see the king? It's not like televisions are around, and someone's portrayal on a coin isn't going to be the most accurate thing.

Maybe we saw him from a distance at the Tournament, but that's about it.

Hey OP, it's been an hour
You still alive?

Still up, though I'll be turning it in in about an hour since I have to get up early. The next post is kind of long since you guys picked >all of the above , so I guess I'll just post as I finish.

>all of the above

Looking from the outside, a stranger like you wandering aimlessly around the castle probably seems a bit suspicious... it'd probably be best to introduce yourself.

"Good evening to you too," you say with a nod. "My name is Reinhold, and I just got stationed here at the castle today as the Princess's bodyguard. Since she's in her room for the night, I figured that it'd be a good idea to get a feel for where everything in the castle is, since I'd rather not do anything else to make her mad..." you say as you remember the Princess's temperament.

"Ah!" the old man put his hands together, as if he'd just realized something important. "You're the young fellow who won the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament! I'd heard that you were going to be reassigned here."

So he knows who you are... that'll make things easier.

"So you're the one who's been assigned to be the Princess's new bodyguard... she's certainly is a handful, that one. Not what you'd expect from such a pretty girl," he says in a consoling manner. Clearly, he's no stranger to Her Majesty's sunny disposition.
"Yeah, tell me about it," you reply.
"Hahaha, just hang in there and you're sure to get used to it," he says as he places his hand on your shoulder. "Just think of it as practice for when you have children of your own. Why, my own daughter was an absolute terror at that age, I was worried that nobody would ever marry her..." he starts to drift off in thought, and then catches himself. "Anyways, I take it that you're lost?"

"Lost? Well, you could put it like that..."
"Well, you've run into just the right man! I'm Arnaud, the head butler of this castle. Served four generations of the royal family, and with any luck I'll serve four more!" he shakes your hand, smiling proudly.

Four generations? He looks old, but not -that- old...

Yes, but don't worry, /tg/ is always slow. You have a few hours before it falls off the board.
>>
>>27076889
7 posts in, but you have another 6 hours before it dies. Or maybe less cause it's the weekend.

"It's getting late, but I shall give you a quick tour of the castle," Arnaud said, motioning for you to follow.

And follow you did, as the old butler guided you through winding hallways and balconies, showing you all the major sights of the castle. It's a shame that it's too late to actually -appreciate- said sights, but the important thing for now is knowing where everything is.

"I'm sure that you'll appreciate this one," Arnaud says, stopping in front of an open room. Inside, you can see people hurrying to and fro, and... what is that smell?

That DELICIOUS smell?

"Since I'm sure that you're famished, we shall end our tour here at the kitchen," Arnaud said, gesturing for you to enter the room. You do so, and are instantly battered by all the sights.

And scents.

Seriously, you had no idea how HUNGRY you were up until now. It's everything you can do to keep from drooling all over everything.

"Haha, take a seat! I'll go get something for you to eat, is there anything in particular that you want?"
"No. I'm fine with anything," you reply.

Fun has been determined to cause cancer.
Please refrain from having fun in the future.
