You are Yuri Ivanov a Corporal in the Tesenturian Reserve Infantry Corp who after attempting to save your best friend’s life you’ve been sent into the unknown country called Tristain, a place where the existence of magic and mages exist.
Yeah…magic.

However despite this realization (after the consumption of an unknown quantity of alcohol) you have somewhat grown used to your environment and with no way to get home in the foreseeable future you’ve decided to immerse yourself in various activities.

Such as hunting down a Thief who tried to kill you for its bounty or rather her as you are currently raising your revolver at her head as she tried playing a victim being within the grips of a giant stone fist.

"Stand down and you will not get hurt, but know this I have killed female combatants before and will not hesitate to do so again.” You warned your tone grave and cold. “We will release you from the confines if you try anything.”

You pull back the hammer and a distinct ‘click’ echoed across the forest. “I won’t miss this time.”

>Give me a roll to see if she’ll comply.

It looked like she might have tried something or planned some elaborate escape but she knew that your trigger finger will be faster than anything she had cooked up.

“….Fine.” She spat out biting her lip to the point it might bleed. “I surrender.”

You smiled as you ask Kirche and Tabitha wedged her out of her the fist your revolver aimed at her. While you did not bring any rope with you considering this was a recon mission you opted to use the sling on your rifle as makeshift bindings in which Louise (after about a half a dozen tries) managed to successfully tie her up.

Escorting her by the end of a bayonet being weary on wasting ammo on your revolver and ignoring your sword’s complaints for its lack of use you managed to get back to the cart okay.

Asking Kirche to take the over driving you sit in front of Forquet who is giving you every dirty look possible at least by non-Tesenturain standards as you stand watch and one thrust away from having this Phantom Thief struck like a pig.

“Can you please point that somewhere else?” She said disgusted as she eyed your bayonet. “You took my wand and one bad bump in the road will be the end of me.”

>>27095178
"Not happening. So what exactly were you trying to do with this staff you stole?"
>>
"Well then, you better hope the road back isn’t bumpy." You muttered only earning you a further scowl from her.

The rest of the trip was uneventful as you kept an eye on your captive. It was only when you reached the campus as Professor Colbert with a small posse of what looked like knights.

You…you know that this place had magic, dragons, and talking swords so knights in armor shouldn’t be a big deal.

So why is it your missing your wineskin all the more.

“I’m sorry that I could not come with you since Headmaster Osman send me to grab some knights to capture the Thief.” He says looking apologetic before looking at the cart. “Why is Miss Longueville tied up?”

You gave him a quick explanation in which the knights understanding the situation take her away although with more secure bindings which they turned your sling. You and the girls returned to the Headmaster receiving praise and the title of Chevalier and Tabitha to your surprise has already the title and was given some fancy medal instead.

You yourself stepped up to receive a heavy pouch filled with coins having claimed your share of the bounty including those of the others due to their honor.

A hefty 1500 new gold which is apparently a hefty sum even for a noble.

As the girl began to leave apparently preparing for a Ball that Osmond had mentioned that will be happening to tonight but he called you to stay for a bit.

“I would like to thank you for returning this to me.” The Headmaster said as he touched the box letting it slide on the tips of his finger. “This means a lot to me.”

"If I may sir can I see it? I'm curious about it. After all with a name like the Staff of destruction it must be impressive."

Also OP the business with the chevalier could easily be drawn out into more text and conversation. As it is written it's a bit confusing as to whether we were granted the title as well.
>>
>>27097382
Sorry, I was already writing this bit for two hours and considering this event was played out in the novel/anime/manga, I thought I could skim it over.

Then again it was poor writing on my part for that confusion. Sorry.

"Sir where did you obtain this?” You muttered the gears of your mind stopped as you feel your hands shaking. “Because that's no staff. That's a high-explosive anti-tank rocket launcher."

He looks a bit concerned but nods as he leans back into his chair reliving a distinct memory from long ago. Apparently thirty years ago he was fighting a dragon and was losing badly but just when he was about to kick the bucket he was saved by a man carrying two M-72s. However that man was vitally injured and died and so the Headmaster buried the used one with the soldier and took the one in the box and labeled it as the ‘staff of destruction’ and kept it in the treasury ever since.

Your mind is barely processing this story and your hand is twitching for your wineskin you left back at half-pint’s dorm. However one very important fact is apparent.

There were people other than you transported here.

Vietnam ended in 75 and we established that its 2013 or near enough. 30 years ago would put the time at 75 exactly in 2010 so it's close enough, but I'm not sure how good Yuri's education is. I'm amusing not very good considering the state of the country, but I would guess he would have at least an elementary level education, and war history would probably be included, but regardless it's a tossup with my argument mostly relying on the fuzziness of Yuri's knowledge of history.

To establish connection to the quest:
The Earth series is a glorious Slavic product made by Polish developers with a strong German community.

"Sir from your story it sounds like this man was an American soldier from the Vietnam War. If I could ask, was there anything strange about that day, any recent events of importance, and any strange objects of places nearby?" You asked hopeful that there may be some clue on how to head back but he shakes his head.

“Unfortunately there was no such thing of note at the time.” He replied before adding. “Even if there was I was too busy trying to save my savior’s life.”

You nod in understanding as you take off the small metal chain around your neck and presented it to the headmaster. "I wonder, did you take his Dog Tags it looks something like this?"

He looks at it for a moment before shaking his head once more. “I buried him as he was, I did not want to take anything else from his person.”

>What do you say or do
>>
>>27105816
"Sir, I will need to know where the man is buried and the other 'Staff of destruction', to at least determine if the weapon is in usable condition and to give the tags to his family if I ever get out of here."
And loot the hell out of his gear. It may not be nice, but it will help.
>But anon if we carry all those exotic, deadly weapons around we will get a knife in the back and our shit stole.
And that is exactly why we make stashes around the academy, think STALKER, but not in the middle of a fucking radiated place.
>>
>>27105927
>if the weapon is in usable condition
The staff is a missile launcher. Which shoots missiles. And can load one at a time.
And he used it to save the dude.
Why the hell would you want to get it from his grave?

Also, looting his grave is just evil.
>>
>>27105816
"Well, the Dog Tags are identification plates around his neck, which you're kinda supposed to take from a dead soldier in order to identify him."
"I understand if you don't want to dig him up, but if you want to get a proper headstone for him, I can tell you his name, age, birthplace and bloodtype if I can see them."
"Traditionally, military sends them back to the deceased's family as a confirmation that he is killed, so I think you might want to take those into safekeeping at some point."

"They look like this *show him yours."
>>
>>27105979
Not exactly familiar with the LAW, couldn't the dude have say, an extra rocket or some shit?
And yes I know it's bad karma, but we need his shit more than him.
>Dogtags
>Rifle and ammo
>Sidearm and ammo
>Maybe medical supplies fuck if I know

>ustregio troops
Yeah, troops in a foreign land/world should support each other
>>
>>27106034
Second this.
Also ask what a Chevalier is, because I have no idea.
>>
>>27106053
The LAW is a disposable rocket launcher that cannot be reloaded. When it first came out to 'Nam it was pretty. Though the idea of running around with it and shouting, "I AM THE LAW!" does seem pretty cool. Looting the stuff from the body does sound like a good idea.
>>
>>27106053
You do know that any equipment he had will be thirty years old and buried six feet unde.
>>
>>27105816
"That is a pity. Dog tags are paired - one is meant to be taken. Ah, well."
>>
>>27106053
M72 is single use rocket launcher and right now is mostly obsolete against tanks, but it can take out armored cars and other lightly armored targets.
>>
>>27106130
Assuming he has an M16A1 and an M1911, both will likely be completely degraded and useless. And ammunition that old, not stored in sealed containers, is also likely to have degraded beyond usefulness.
>>
>>27106034
>blood type
The reaction will be interesting.
>>
>>27106130
Yea, I say that we don't ask to loot his corpse.
We won't say no, if he offers it to us, but we don't ask it.

We tell him that if he wants to give him a proper burial, we can tell enough that anyone who knows him will be able to identify him from his headstone if he gets us one of the Dog Tags.
>>
>>27105816
So the consensus is to inform him of the dogtags.
Is there anything else to add or is that it?
>>
>>27106621
One thing to add. Ask what a Chevalier is. I am fairly certain Yuri has no idea what it is other than some fancy title.
>>
>>27106322
No looting respectfully-interred corpses

>>27106659
I would think that that would be covered in....wait, nevermind.
>>
>>27106682

Agreed, but getting a dog-tag in a grave in order to notify the right people (if we manage to get back) isn't looting.
>>
>>27106721
It is not. It would also allow us to properly mark his grave.

Yeah, take the dog tag. Nothing else, except for possible plot coupons.
>>
>>27106243
Hmm, good point. Well shit, I mean it can't hurt to check if they are serviceable after a good cleaning right? Unless the M16 and 1911 have a tendency to explode with bad ammo and 30 years of exposure to earth/water.

It could be a good last resort when shit hits the fan.

But yes, dog tags are a must, maybe he has a journal too we could read. And no I don't consider taking the journal of a dead man in a foreign world as bad karma.
>>
>>27107036
The journal is in all likely mulch at this point.
>>
>>27107036
I don't advocate looting to begin with, but the M16A1 did have a tendency to explode with bad ammo, yes. And both weapons' metal bits (the important parts of the gun) are mostly steel, and will be largely rusted away or rusted -together-.
>>
>>27107075
I should really remind myself
>30 years 3 meters deep
>30 years 3 meters deep

Can anything other than his tags and bones last that long? Knife maybe, probably rusted to hell, but who knows maybe he had a trench knife.
>>
>>27107036
>>27107141
That said (and dammit, I hate it when I miss shit I want to reply to), a journal is less likely to have survived than the weapons. If he did have one, and it was readable, I would not consider it looting, either, so long as we do so respectfully. And at the very least make a copy to stay with his dog tag.
>>
"Well, the Dog Tags are identification plates around his neck, which you're kinda supposed to take from a dead soldier in order to identify him." You explained still holding up your dog tag at the old man. "I understand if you don't want to dig him up after all this time, but if you want to get a proper headstone for him, I can tell you his name, age, birthplace and bloodtype if I can see them."

His eyes widen in surprised that such a small piece of metal will contain such information though you’re sure he did not understand everything about the explanation but you continue regardless.

"Traditionally, the military sends them back to the deceased's family as a confirmation that he is killed, so I think you might want to take those into safekeeping at some point."

He nods in understanding and replies that he will look into it and will get it for his savior to have a proper grave.

“What is a Chevalier?” You asked changing the subject. “Some fancy noble title?”

“In a sense yes.” He replies while nodding. “It is the lowest title a knight could receive and could only be granted through merit alone.”

>What do you say or do
>>
>>27107511
"I would assume that being a Chevalier means that they are eligible to have their services called upon at any moment by the crown then?"
>>
>>27107511
We may wish to expand on our explanation - one tag is normally left with the body, the other is taken. (That's also the origin of the notch on Vietnam-era tags; it was for setting the tag against the teeth so it could be driven up into the skull with a sharp blow to the chin, rendering the tag functionally inseparable from the body. The VC had a habit of stealing tags.)

Anyways.
"I assume Chevaliers can be called to service by the Crown?"
>>
>>27107756
Yea, we should give full explanation on the Dog Tags.
Also, we need to ask about what kind of upgrade do you get regarding your living arrangements.

"I assume Chevaliers can be called to service by the Crown?" You asked a bit curious on the whole royalty.

“Why of course.” He says as if it was the most obvious thing in the world but also carries a more relaxed easy-going stance. “It is a knight’s duty to serve the crown though Tabitha is a Chevalier in Gallia and has duties there and probably only volunteered for other reasons.”

“Then what of my living arrangements then?” You asked changing the subject once more. “I caught the Thief now I wish you hold to your part of the bargain.”

The Headmaster only smiles as he strokes his beard as he nods. “Why yes, I haven’t forgotten but as I said before since you are not a student and I can’t put you in the boy’s dorm.”

“Also the only reason you were able to dorm with the girls was your status as a familiar.” He paused before giving a small lecherous grin. “By the way how was the experience being surrounded by blooming flowers must have been quite a sight.”

Your reply was a deadpanned stare which lasted for a good five minutes.

“A-ahem…” He coughed trying to break the tension. “However despite these limitations I managed to pull a few strings and will let you have a small piece of land within the campus courtyard until Miss Valliere has graduated in which you can do whatever you wish as long as you don’t disturb or hurt the students.”

"It also involves less paperwork."
"You could, you see, transfer Louise from a single room, to a room for two people and I'll unofficially take the 2nd bed."
"The reason why nobody else will officially take the 2nd bed is because well, it broke and you haven't yet bought new one."
"The reason why you haven't yet bought a new one is because you got a bargain on a matching bed from one of the students that bought a bed for her familiar that she won't need to bring it along after she graduates and the school doesn't want to waste funds."
"This way, Valliere will be less pissed with the arrangement, I can enjoy the comforts of a proper room, you'll get less paperwork and I can still play the part of the familiar until further notice without emerging rumours putting further stress on the girl and she and I both get larger room."

Not to mention, even if we were offered it, we'd probably reject it unless, it came with a mansion and a good salary.
All we know is that with that title you're obligated to fight for the crown if they call on you.

Only an idiot would accept taking a potentially lethal job without getting paid.
>>
>>27124272
Saito got his cape after driving the entire pursuing army into chaos by himself, punching the lights out of commanding officers and living to tell about it.

On my opinion that was a pretty shitty reward though, considering he only got the LOWEST knight title after performing an achievement that can only be rivalled by mythological figures.

I mean think about it.
Louise got the same rank for being in right place at the right time without actually doing anything.
Those titles are being handed out like candy if you're of noble birth.
>>
>>27124423
To be fair, Saito's achievement was mostly due to his familiar contract. He was also at the right place at the right time.
But yes, it was a shitty reward.
>>
>>27124287
>>27124000
Y'all mis-read. "Chevalier" is the only knighthood that can be awarded on merit alone. All of the party members save Tabitha, who already holds that title, and Forquet, who we brought back at bayonet-point, were awarded the title.
>>
>>27124476
Taking into consideration canon, as well as OP's grammar and how little OP is deviating from cannon it's generally asumed that we didn't get the title. However We'll just have to ask OP when he gets back.
>>
Rolled 1

>>27124593
Sorry, about my grammar but again trying to improve it and looking at the previous threads it has been somewhat.

Also we didn't get the title since the idea of a commoner getting the title is ridiculous. For Saito and Agnes were the exception due to the Queen's influence and not to mention we got the bounty we are more or less a bounty hunter the knightly.
>>
>>27124786
Alright then thanks for clearing that up.

And yes your writing has improved since thread 1
>>
“Actually that works out quite nicely.” You nodded your mind thinking of several ways to use your coin to set up base, “Thank you.”

He nodded and you took this chance to leave but reminded you to also to enjoy the ball tonight and ‘let loose’.

Considering what the old headmaster previous comment you are not sure what he meant by ‘let loose’ but you do consider and prepare for this ball. However with your lack of clothing choices with consisted of your dirty uniform you are now wearing and your commoner clothes. Though the commoner clothes are fairly new you opted for your uniform seeing that as more ‘presentable’ for this ball and borrowed a washing board and bucket from Siesta to have it cleaned.

On the night of the ball you are now somewhat presentable with your clean uniform and had any hair or stubble properly shaved or cut. Though the bathhouses are reserved for the nobles and while you considered using the steam baths the help used you opted to just clean yourself with the cold fountain water and the wash bucket with only Slypheed and the Fire Lizard (in which you eventually known as Flame) watching letting the warm spring day and Flame’s fire dry you off.

Deciding that after today’s events no immediate trouble will show up you decided to pack in light and arm yourself with your revolver which is placed in your holster and after much bickering, complaining, and begging brought Deflinger along leaving the rest of your equipment either buried in your hay bed or under Louise’s mattress.

“Why did you want to come along?” You said draining a cup of wine. “You’re a sword.”

“Humph.” The sword snorted in which you’re surprised that it can and proceeded to down another cup. “I may be a sword but even a sword can have class and besides I always wanted to attend a ball.”

It paused for a moment before speaking up “Aren’t you drinking a bit too much?”

“It’s only my first bottle.”
>>
“Within the first hour of the Ball?”

“…” You paused for a moment as you emptied the bottle into your cup before grabbing another bottle and sipping your cup. “What can I say? The wine is good tonight.”

While it’s true the wine is good much better than usual stuff Marteau usually gives you it is only one reason for your rapid consumption the other is to suspend your disbelief of today’s events such as seeing knights in this world, Deflinger’s vast ways of expressing himself, and the fact you discovered an anti-tank weapon and apparently you aren’t the first person to be dumped in this world.

It is a lot to take in and thus you needed this long awaited drink.

It also doesn’t help that your awaited drink is being served by little miniature magic dolls called Alviss who danced around entertaining guests while serving them along with the help while giving them a rather ‘cute’ feeling.

Too bad that their existence alone is slowly driving you to drink to death.

“Jeez, I’m all up for you getting wasted but at least mingle or something.” The Sword sighs. “I mean I don’t think the pink spit-fire will appreciate you passed out drunk on the floor.”

You were about to joke on how this swill is nothing to Tesenturian liquor but he did carry a point and the night is young.

>What do you say or do?
>>
See if you can find Tabitha, Kirche and Louise.
Also, when the dancing starts, make sure to dance with each one of them and socialize.

But all jokes aside we should socialize with everyone. Parties like this should be enjoyed.

While I support this, and slowing down, I also suggest a dry comment that we literally grew up on [Vodka].
>>
As you’ve begin roaming around looking for people to mingle with you’ve noticed several of your friends and acquaintances in attendance.

You see Kirche with a very exotic red dress emphasizing her curves being followed by a somewhat large group of boys following her every move. Tabitha in contrast wearing simple but nice black dress standing nearby the buffet eating her weight in food which should be surprising but considering her size it wasn’t much.

You also noticed Siesta hard at work rolling around carts of food and wine and replacing empty trays with filled ones.

Professor Colbert and Headmaster Osman were happily drinking or rather was being the Headmaster being slapped by Miss Cheveruse for being a little too touchy. Also you noticed Guiche…being Guiche as he does elaborate poses with his rose wand attempting to seduce Mon-Mon.

As for Half-Pint…she’s not here though you do recall having to borrow her room to hide your things so she couldn’t quite use it right away to dress up.

>What do you say or do?

Thinking that you may have some food with your drink you head over towards the buffet where Tabitha is. However once picking up some food you came across a peculiar thing.

“What is that?” You pointed at the object on the trey as you look towards Tabitha hoping for an explanation.

“….Meat.”

“Yes, I understand that it is but what is it called?”

“….Meat on a Bone.”

“What type of meat is it?” You asked only earning you a shrug before she continues to feast on her own plate.

Your curious about the strange cuisine but you end up shrugging as well before piling on more of this mystery meat onto you plate before eating some yourself.

Well it tastes way better than the canned sausages in your ration box that’s for sure and begin to help yourself to more…

“…Thank you.”

You heard an almost an inaudible whisper in which you only barely by being next to the girl.

“What was that?”

“….Thank you for feeding Slypheed.” She whispered again mumbling each world while taking a bite of her food. “…and saving me.”

>What do you say or do?

*chuckle* "You are very welcome. Besides If I recall you saved me first."

"You also saved me, so we're even on that count. And I like feeding Sylpheed, she's a nice dragon. Very honest and affectionate.

>>
>>27130131
"It's a pleasure to feed Slypheed, she's been a good buddy since I got here. I wonder what she'll think about this MEAT.

>>
>>27130131

>>
>>27132158
It will depend on who you talk to and how long

so after Tabitha, we go to Guiche
>>
>>27132120
I guess ask more about Slypheed. Do they have a way of directly communicating with each other? The dragon seems sentient.
>>
>>27132279

"You also saved me, so we're even on that count.” You replied smiling as you used your non greasy hand to ruffle her blue bobbed hair. “And I like feeding Sylpheed, she's a nice dragon. Very honest and affectionate. “

Though the fact she enjoys belly rubs and plays fetch kind of breaks your childhood fantasies on what a dragon should be, you’ve grown used to it.

“I'm glad I was able to help." You finally finished off as your thoughts went towards the dragon you figured that you might as well grab something for her later but just as you were about to grab another meat on the bone for her.
Tabitha slaps your hand.

“…No junk food.” She stated her eyes still focusing on her plate. “Might get spoiled.”

You stare blankly at her for a moment until in the corner of your eye you see Guiche in the corner of your eye gathering a crowd of fellow mages and a small female crowd including Mon-Mon.

Well this is an ample opportunity, isn’t it?

You handed Tabitha your plate as you grabbed a nearby spoon hoping to spook the poor blond after all you did tell him if you were to finish the job he wouldn’t notice. You blended into the crowd becoming a part of the flow your no special ops or assassin but you managed to get some handle on how to do these things and just when Guiche was within grabbing distance.

Highest Roll; 1

“Darling!” A loud very sensual voice called out and grabbed your head and before you could react was pushed into soft and warm flesh. “It is not good to leave a lady waiting what would have happened if I was seduced by those young gentlemen behind me.”

You could sense some slight killing intent behind the bosom you find yourself in…this is not what you had expected.

“Ummm, what just happened?” A confused yet very foppish voice asked probably Guiche. “Ah. Mr. Ivanov how are you doing this evening enjoying the ball?”

This, then take a deep breath before going into conversation with her
>>
You would normally be polite and answer him since after all you are indeed enjoying the ball. What’s not to like good food, decent booze, and a cheerful atmosphere is all that he needed.

“Mmm mmphm mhmhmm mhhhmhph.”

Besides oxygen of course…

Where did this women get her strength from it wasn’t like this the last time she pulled this stunt in Half-Pint’s room?

You are a supposed to die with either a bullet in your gut or drowning in a bottle of booze not being suffocated by the female anatomy!

…Well that might not be so bad, right?

Wait! Get your priorities!

After taking a deep breath you begin to slowly remove yourself from the fleshy prison and turned towards Guiche with a deadpanned expression causing the poor blond to flinch.

"Well, Guiche I've got pockets filled with coin, meat on my plate which is being held by an owner of a dragon, plenty of alcohol in my system, and an ample bosom pressed my face just a moment ago.”

Your neutral expression changed as you cracked open a small smile while you slapped the boy’s shoulder.

“A man could do a lot worse."

He smiles in return while nodding. “Indeed, to have the embrace of a woman especially one as Miss Zerbst is quite….”

He did not finish that as Mon-Mon pinched his cheek a bit too tightly. “…Guiche”

“Mon-Mon, it’s not what I meant.”

“Oh…” She replied a vacant gaze in her eye.

“What did you mean then?”

“Well…” He begins to explain but seeing that look in her eyes you know it is most likely futile so you turn back to Kirche who is slowly trying to latch onto your arm much to the growing killing intent of the boys behind her.

“Congratulations on your knighthood, Kirche.”

“Ah, why thank you darling.” She replies sweetly. “though I wonder how are you going to spend that reward, it is quite a sum after all.”

>What do you say or do?

"It depends. Will I be considered a nobel if I'm more powerful on my own than a mage?
Because this money should be enough to produce some really nifty equipment."

Guys, we need to play Tesla.
A combat engineer should know how to rig up a simple generator, shouldn't he?
It's just copper wire, a magnet and some metal.
>>
>>27141989
Ooo, actually yes, any good engineer would know that, we can get them started on electricity.
>>
>>27141814

>>
By the way, did we get just a piece of land or is there a cabin in there as well?
Cus if it's just a piece of land, that's kind of a shitty change for living arrangements.
>>
>>27142250
>lightbulbs
That's harder to do, though.
But we really do need a killer app.

How about making simple aircraft with electric motors?
Some mages should be capable of creating electricity. They'd fucking love it.
>>
>>27142439
Lightbulbs isn't hard if you've got enough voltage.
>>
>>27142439
No motors, motors will spark industrial revolution.
Industrial revolution in a country that doesn't have social equality will lead to unprecedented misery.
>>
>>27142681
It doesn't matter if we only sell whole planes and never explain the motor tech.

Also, they'd need generators of sufficient power level, because a Mage can't cast all the fucking time.
Actually, a Mage as an electrical power source would equalize the world.
Suddenly, you'd want peasant mages who are trained to cast electricity.
>>
>>27142681
Arguably, it will lead to 100% precedented suffering.

That said, post-Industrial Revolution conditions or clan-level societies are required for any sort of social equality.
>>
>>27142732
See >>27142716

I have a plan:
We introduce motors, but no form of energy generation.
And then we introduce stuff like light bulbs.
The nobels surely won't want to power their own light bulbs. That's too much work for the higher class.
So servants are taught magic.
This will cascade into a magical revolution, changing the entire world.

But first we need to know if an electricity spell even exists. And how hard to learn it is.
A square level electricity spell would be fairly pointless in that scenario.
>>
>>27142791
Mmm. You introduce a motor, somebody's going to figure out pretty quickly that if you turn the motor manually, you get electricity OUT.
>>
>>27142716
We can't create an electric motor powerful enough to actually power a manned plane.
The amount of rpm you need for it would break anything that you could possibly make by yourself.

Besides, you wouldn't be equalizing the world, you'd be making lightning mages an elite caste.
Also, you can't just train any peasant in magic.
>>
>>27142943
>Also, you can't just train any peasant in magic.
Was that EVER adressed in the entire series?
It seems like nobles are the only ones taught magic, not the only ones capable of magic.

>>27142942
Turning a motor backwards is not exactly the most intuitive thing. Especially as the combination of magnets and metal parts would basically be magic for mages.

Stability of the materials is a better point, though.
>>
>>27142791
They have energy generation already, they can compress magical energy into elemental stones, which they already use to make their ships fly.

Also, not everyone can learn magic.
>>
>>27143002
>Also, not everyone can learn magic.
Again:
Was that ever elaborated upon?
Some nobles seem to not have the ability to cast magic. This sounds a lot like many peasants should be able to learn it.
>>
>>27142974
It wasn't stated, but it was heavily implied.
>>
>>27143112
Let's ask Louise if we can learn magic.
>>
There is one DEFINATE way we can learn magic.
We could try to make a contract with an elemental spirit like elves do to gain their magic.

Outside that you probably either require natural aptitude or enchanted items or you can't do it at all.
>>
...Can we teach mages how railgun works?
They would love to use that kind of artillery.
A water or earth mage could cool it or re-structure the rails after they melt.
>>
>>27143259
NO GIVING AWAY MILITARY TECH FOR FREE!
Besides, Yuri has spent enough of his life in war to value peace.
It doesn't fit in his profile that he'd suddenly want to give a monarch enough power to start waging war.
>>
>>27142421
It's a small piece of land and that's it, you'll need to buy material and put in work to build a cabin.

As of right now with the stuff you have, you could build a foxhole.
>>
>>27141814
Well the headmaster set me up with a small plot of land inside the school grounds. I'll probably build a cabin and workshop. There are some comforts of home that I'm missing and would like back.
>>
>>27143338
I just wanted to discuss the possibility.
If we ever need money... Or want to protect the country...
We really need to look into the possibility.
>>
>>27143372
Crazy survivalist woodland bunker construction is GO!
>>
>>27143395
Wait a moment.
We are called Ivan. We have explosives.
We have our own plot of land on the school grounds. And we intend to build our crazy workshop there.
We are Crazy Ivan. Let's become masters at explosives.
>>
>>27143421
The plan we to begin working on black powder anyways, that and purchase a still so we can make our favorite drink.
>>
>>27143372
So we're probably going to sleep with Louise for a while until we manage to construct a proper bunker.
>>
>>27143435
We will also definitely build a generator (either wind or water) to power electric lights.
>>
>>27143459
Yeah it's probably going to take a few months to get everything set up.

The plan I have in my head is a cabin with a stone or concrete bunker/basement underneath. The cabin would be the primary living quarters, with the bunker being the workshop and secondary quarters. Of course we will need to put up a sign on the bunker saying keep out.
>>
>>27143514
How about putting electrical wire around the bunker's entrance, so that any intruder will be shocked?
>>
>>27143435
We should probably plant potatoes as well then.
>Get a basic toolkit
>Make or get a cart to move dirt and other stuff around.
>Build a wooden bunker
>Get a bed
>Get a still
>Get potatoes for said still
>Have an extra copy of our uniform made
>Make a firepit or get a portable stove
>Make or get a cart to move dirt and other stuff around.

I think the list regarding our base looks something like that.
We will probably be bunking with Louise for a while.
>>
>>27143576
I think the students will know enough to keep out if we just put up a sign. After all the students probably don't barge into Prof. Colberts lab without asking.
>>
>>27143614
These are teenagers.
We never know who might want to intrude.
There might also be outside "visitors" once word gets around.
>>
>>27143629
Then we put the entrance in a place that isn't conspicuous, such as below floorboards.
>>
>>27143659
That works, too.
The question is, though, what if we get a malfunction?
>>
>>27143695
a malfunction in what? the floor?
>>
>>27143720
In our workshop. Which is underground. Hidden beneath a secret entrance.
>>
>>27143720
I think he means that if we get injured or we need to make a quick getaway, having ladder as the only exit may not be the best idea.
>>
>>27143769
You don't need a ladder, just have stairs.
>>
>>27143594
We are only going to stay here till Louise graduates. So lets not build anything too costly or pernament.

wiki says vodka was first made in the 1400's but that was a 14% medicinal version, and didnt exceed 40% till the mid 18th century, and only became the modern vodka we know (with 75%+) at the turn of the 20th century. So yes we will be introducing our Vodka.
>>
>>27144955
>1400
People already had potatoes back then?
>>
>>27144888
Vodka exactly? No.
>>
>>27145207
From reading the article the actual recipe for vodka has changed, with the earliest having herbal tinctures similar to absinth. Apparently the name Vodka has been used for multiple drinks.
>>
>>27145305
Well, "Vodka" is just the cutified version of "Voda", which means water.
You could translate it as water-chan, because English is a shitty language. Most languages have built-in ways of cutifying words.
>>
>>27145383
I'm just reading from the wiki article on it.
>>
“Well I’m going to make it someplace to live.” You explained to the Fire Mage. “While also doing a few side projects probably a distillery.”

While you enjoy the wine here to varying degrees of satisfaction it still does not replace the taste of good old Tesenturain Vodka.

“Oh, a distillery so are you making an ale or beer.” She smiles coyly obviously liking the idea. “and living alone then maybe I should move in and sample some of the goods...”

Before you can either deny or accept the invitation one of the guards near the entrance "The daughter of Duke of La Valliere, Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Valliere arrives!”

Then you see Half-Pint looking…not too bad actually her ling ping hair is now in a ponytail and wore a white evening gown with long white gloves extending to her elbows.

While you think she looks fine you’re not an expert on such things but considering quite a few boys even those that made fun of her asking her for a dance it looks like your assumption is accurate.

>What do you say or do?
>>
>>27145633
Approach her with a smile. "You clean up pretty nicely, although I think I prefer the you covered in smoke and ash. That fresh from battle look."
>>
>>27145633
Give her a thumbs up, "Looking good!" then go find Colbert.
>>
>>27145790
This and also
"May I have the honor of thy tutelage upon the dancefloor my lady?"
"I fear my expertise of the local coreography is sorely lacking."

And afterwards dance with Kirche and Tabitha to show off what you've learned.
>>
>>27145633
>Le Blanc
I know fuck-all about the French language, but does her name seriously relate to her magic skills?
>>
>>27145633
OP, you should REALLY start looking into adding images to your posts.
Especially as there's huge amounts of official art for this setting.
>>

No idea..., I'm just grabbing these goddamn long names from the wiki or the novels.
>>
>>27146080
I don't think dancing is something on the agenda. We can compliment her and agree if she asks but asking of our own volition is something I don't see Yuri doing.

>>27146191
Pictures are nice but not necessary. I would prefer having OP spend the time improving his writing rather than spending it looking for that one perfect picture.

According to Leo, it can either be "white" (or similar) or "lack/deficit".

Oh nonsense, of course we'd ask our squadmates to dance, we're not a blushing boy anymore.
Why wouldn't we dance with them? We're in a good mood, we just came back from a successful mission and filled our pockets in the process.
Of course we'd celebrate it with them.

You walk towards Half-pin through the crowd in which let you passed almost giving off the feeling of Moses parting the red sea. However despite the part of you feeling a little disturbed by that you gave Half-Pint a small smile before saying in a joking manner. “You clean up pretty nicely; although I think I prefer you covered in smoke and ash. That fresh from battle look."

She snorts as she turns her head away from you with a pout while folding her arms. “As expected of a mere commoner you can never appreciate the finer things in life.”

You laugh and with a shrug, you did a small bow while not too disrespectful it was not meant to be taken seriously. “I’m a simple man Milady as long as I have wine in my system and a place to sleep I’m a content man so please bear with my crude manner.”

The alcohol must be starting to kick in.

It was her turn to laugh a little but tries to regain her a bit of her noble posture but not as serious as before. “Well it is a noble lady’s responsibility to help those who work for her become more cultured.”

She extended her hand towards you

“So as your first lesson will you care to dance?”

"If Milady will have me then I shall accept.” You replied taking her offered hand in an exaggerated gestured which will probably make Guiche proud. “And while I know a dance or two I don't think it's suitable for an uptight event such as this. Much better for cutting loose."

“Well then I shall have to teach you then.” She said puffing out her chest with a smile on her face. “Be grateful it is rare for a noble to teach the elegance form of ballroom dancing to a commoner.”

Having your hand she leads you onto the dance floor and begins to teach you the basic forms.

Highest Roll 19

In which you picked up very quickly and just as soon as she began teach you were now able to lead her into the dance.

“That was pretty quick.” She said a bit surprised most likely thinking you will trip over your feet or something similar. “You sure you have not done this before?”

You shook your head in denial. “No, again I had dance before but not like this and if it’s any consolation I was expecting to be stepping on your toes by now.”

She smiles at your explanation and both of you continued to dance in silence until by the second song her grip on you tightens and she is biting her lip.

“I’m sorry…for everything.”

"For what? Ripping me away from my country and friends, and plunking me into a foreign world and country? You were only trying to summon a magical creature. No offense but I doubt that you could have summoned a human intentionally. And if it's any consolation I'm not the first.
>>
>>27152096
"Honestly you never ment to summon me as your firmiliar, so don't feel bad about that. You've fed me, you've cloathed me, you've put a roof over my head.... For that I am eternally greatful. Your a sweet young lady, Louise, I am happy that we we're able to meet one another."
>>
>>27152096
"You're forgiven. You didn't mean to summon me, and you've been remarkably tolerant considering how hard I've been to deal with."
>>
"For what? Ripping me away from my country and friends, and plunking me into a foreign world and country?” You replied and you see her visibly as she nearly trips on her feet and you sighed. “You were only trying to summon a magical creature. No offense but I doubt that you could have summoned a human intentionally. And if it's any consolation I'm not the first.”

“But…” She was object to object but her eyes widened. “Wait! What?”

You can only nod. “Yeah, the headmaster apparently met someone who had come from my world who saved his life but died of his wounds.”

“But how?

“I do not know…” You replied. “But if there was one there might be more.”

It may be naïve of you to think it but considering in all the things you’ve seen since you’ve arrived into this world it may not be so farfetched. “Well anyway I forgive you.”

She only nodded in reply but you felt through her dancing a great weight was lifted off her shoulders.

>What do you say or do?

"Anyways the Headmaster fulfilled his arrangements about my sleeping situation.” You brought up bringing Half-Pint’s head up in attention “He granted me the use of a small space of land within the grounds. So as soon as I have an actual dwelling built I can stop taking up floor space. But that's probably not going to be any time soon."

She gives you a flat stare. “Do you know where this piece of land is?”

“As of right now no.” You reply as you shake your head. “I guess I will have to iron out the details with the Headmaster later.”

She nodded in understanding. “I understand but if you get to choose I will like to have you near the girl’s dorms.”

“May I ask why?” You replied the song for the second dance slowly dying down.

“Though you are your own man at least to others you are still my familiar.” She explained. “It will be best for you to stay close at all times or else it might look bad on my part and in turn the Valliere family. Of course, I will respect your wishes and actions to an extent but in return you also do the same to me.”

Before you had a chance to respond the song ended and you suddenly find your arm being enveloped by a soft sensation.

“Darling, dance with me too.” Kirche cooed as she pouted. “Besides I’m a much better dancer then this girl with two left feet.”

“Ze-Zerbst!” The Half-Pint stuttered. “Get your hands off my familiar!”

“Calm down Zero…” The fiery red head smiled teasingly. “It is rude to hog a gentleman all to yourself.”

“Speak for yourself.” Half-Pint replied with no small hint of disdain. “What about that small army of boys at your beck and call?”

“True.” Kirche said not willing to deny that. “Though I won’t be the only one asking him to dance Tabitha will as well.”

“….I’m fine.” The girl in question replied still feasting on the buffet while still holding onto your plate.
>>
“Nonsense!” Kirche stated grabbing the girl bringing her to the dance floor. “This is a ball so dancing is a must!”

This commotion lasted throughout the night and you ended up dancing with Louise, Kirche, Tabitha, and even Mon-Mon who just wanted to mess with Guiche before returning to your favorite corner and spend time with the bottle and some food.

>Okay, I think you roughly have a couple of weeks before the next event or if you make one depending on the suggestions. I need to know what we are going during this time and where to we claim our land.

Near the girls dorm or the help I think.
Leaning towards the girls dorm seeing as we still need to accompany Louise in her daily activities to an extent.
>>
>>27165678

>Near the Girls Dorm
Close enough that we are within yelling distance, but not up against it.

We should spend the next few weeks drafting up the design for the cabin (which should only take a few days), then procuring supplies and beginning construction.

As far as the design goes, a simple one room cabin should suffice, however we should have a basement where we can conduct our tinkering to recreate bits of home. Something that can be hidden by say moving a piece of furniture over the door in the floor. We will need room for a still, as well as a side shack for making powder....actually if we wanted to recycle our bullets we could try using tatp for the primer.....no that would just make the bullets go off at random times.

We should ask Marteau about getting some potatoes to plant as well.
>>
>>27166270

I'll go along with this but we NEED a separate shack for when we are working with violate substances like if we start working with gunpowder. Besides we don't want to get powder in our vodka.

Does this place even have access to potatoes? I seem to remember them being native to the Americas.

>>27166469
The basement can be used for everything except violatile projects.
>>
>>27166510
you've never moonshine'd then
>>
>>27166223
One thing I would like to add: we should take some time to train with swords between building our cabin. Since we should be using Derf more often.
>>
>>27166684
I meant gunpowder violatile. Having two explosive projects uder your house is not a good idea.
>>
We need to negotiate with Headmaster about the piece of land and about the fact that we're gonna build a cabin on it.

It's kind of a bullshit deal if he gets the cabin for free as soon as Louise graduates, especially considering that it takes a while for us to actually build the damn thing.

If this is the case it's better to just build the entire place of the cheapest possible materials, which probably is wood.
>>
We still need to get a copy of our uniform made.
Also, we could buy a hammock while we're at it so we don't have to sleep on the floor anymore
