You decide to have Yoshitaka Mine's getaway car - where he seems to be herding the panicking executives towards - disabled. If there was something going down - if this series of events was pointing towards something similar to what happened with Kilgore - then you didn't want the rat from leaving the party too early.

"Orders received." Ayumu replies, her breathy voice tight with tension, and punctuated by the definitive metal click of a rifle's safety being disengaged. "This won't be a moment, Matsuda-san."
>>
>>27160052

You murmur your thanks, and turn your eyes back towards the screen, where the rest of the assembled idols are still busy squealing at their colleague's - and Kyosuke's - performance. Apparently, things have gotten a bit out of hand - or at least that's how it looks like, with the young man's cape now on fire, along with his guitar - but he's still playing. Still thrashing at the strings like a man possessed.

Behind him, you can see a few of the stagehands already scrambling forward with fire extinguishers and a stretcher, all of them seemingly struggling with the choice of whether or not to interrupt such a performance and save the musician's life, or allow it to continue and most likely kill the young man.

It's then that you hear it - a sudden shriek of rushing air, nearly deafening at first but tapering off into a silent, almost whispery hiss. This noise is repeated again, three times in succession, before Ayumu's voice comes back on.

"Car has been disabled, Matsuda-san." The Vindicare's voice is much more relaxed now. "They won't be going anywhere with four flat tires."

"Confirmed," Another Vindicare on the frequency pipes up. "...Man, Ayumu, you didn't just blow out their tires. You nearly shot the car to pieces!"

"I was just being thorough," Ayumu murmurs defensively. "Taking a minute to reload and relocate to the nearest alternative vantage point. Someone please keep the target on sight."

"Roger wilco." There's a snickering noise, here. "Looks like they just found out. Dude with the slicked-back hair looks PISSED. And one of the executives is crying!"

"Let's try to keep unnecessary vox chatter on the minimum, please, Squad Hiryu," Enishi's voice comes on momentarily.

A series of reluctant assents, followed by a hesitant inquiry. "...Anyway, um. Further orders, Warmaster?"

How do you respond?

Show some style.

Turn up personally to meet the execs and offer the opportunity for them to retire to a premium area in the arena.

After all, they won;t be going anywhere for awhile.

Don't send a goon. We'll just be talking through the mic and somethings might not be suitable for the rank and file's ears.

So turn up in person and do this right with the proper protocol.

Gotta be diplomatic here, not immediately hostile. Make sure they know we are now their only way out, if they cooperate. Hm... There is merit to this, but, well... I also kept thinking to send a goon because these are music business execs, used to dealing with histrionic little idols. Chiaki showing up and saying she's the head of security is just going to end up with derision.

So my thought was to send a security goon, which might put them at ease more quickly.

That being said, sending Enishi might be good for this but I really don't want to have her distracted in case something goes down soon.

Things won't go to shit too fast.

In the worst case scenario, we have Sallaka and Enishi protecting the Principal in the few minutes we're away. They can execute the getaway plan we came up with last time.

If we want information fast, we need to speak face to face with the man in charge. We speak through a goon, it'll take more time and he might not be able to express himself well.

Besides theres nothing like questions coming from a MG instead of just a security guy. Likely we'll save time and if we need to rush somewhere, we can activate time stop as a last resort.

>>27160179

The Head of Security showing up to allay their fears would likely put them at ease faster. We could turn up with a couple of security personnel just for show too, though. If they see them following chiaki's orders, they'll get it.

Damn, this OP pic is still as delicious as when it was new.

We're kinda stumbling around blind here guys, we don't even know if something bad is going to go down (fake-out would be pretty appropriate for this mission after all) and we know very little as to how the Tojo Group might plan to coerce Ruri into signing. And absolutely nothing about mystery decapitator. Let's not go insane with suspicion yet, when there's nothing actively harmful happened, and we have a source of (probably false, but still) information to investigate with the execs.

Isn't that a given? If someone fucks up our first assignment as Warmaster, his chances of living are..slim regardless of whether or not we see him today in person.
>>
>>27160496

As far as the Yaks know, she is going to have MG protection from now on. While they probably hired someone who is also on a timed contract.

Also, idols are not idols forever. If they plan to sell her into sexual slavery, she is worth the most when her popularity is at its peak. She might have hit a plateau in ratings and they have decided now or never.

Yeh, nabbing her right now when the Warmaster is watching her is stupid, but they might not have the luxury of time. The last Idol we watched had our full protection and went underground for how many weeks again? We might actually be why they are acting so soon.
>>
>>27160522
Because trusting our culexus leader is a bad idea when she called Mami, organized a team to get the body, probably ran it by the boss and have helped us organize far more security than is reasonable for a job that is basically babysitting all because we ( and by we I mean fuckwits like you who want to shoot everything when we walk into a room just in case ) are overreacting
>>
>>27160561

But lets put aside thoughts of revenge until we actually fail.

You bite your lip as you consider your next move. ...This is going to take some getting used to, you figure. Normally, you'd be the one getting orders barked at, not the one barking them out. Sure, you went through the requisite training for squadmembers - to equip each Magical Girl in a squad basic leadership qualities in case their leader gets taken out - but this is your first time at the helm. It's not...hnh. It's not your natural role, is what you're trying to get at. You're much more comfortable doing things yourself rather than ask someone else to.

But you are Warmaster now, and like it or not, you'll just have to adjust.

You clear your throat, here, and then tell Squad Hiryu to keep alert. Half of them to dedicate their attention to Mine's group, and the other half to any outward threats that might show up. The entire Squad - along with Enishi - replies to the affirmative, and it's then that you call the attention of one of Kyosuke's men.

"Yes, ma'am?" Comes the gruff, yet alert tone from one of Kyosuke's trusted officers, a rather eager-looking guy by the name of Ben. Just as huge as Charles, you noted upon seeing him, and sporting the very same afro. "We've got the yak and his rich buddies in sight. Just say the word and we'll take them down."

You allow yourself a smile, before telling him to simply invite Mine and his executives for some tea with you, backstage. His guards can come along, but only if they hand over their firearms for safekeeping. Wouldn't want an accidental discharge or anything.

"Roger that, Miss Matsuda." Ben chuckles at your plan. "I'm sure they'll be happy to oblige."

You thank him, and make to sign off - before catching another glimpse of the Tv screen. It looks like Kyosuke's finally allowed the stage crew to put him out. ...Is Kyosuke going to be alright, you ask? You don't know much about this kind of music, but...he was on fire, wasn't he?

"I'd hazard that he'll be just fine, Miss Matsuda." You could hear the grin on Ben's voice. "Kamijou's a tough kid, and he's done this kind of thing before. We're still sad he had to retire, but he says he doesn't miss the touring - or living out of tour buses."

Ah. Right. Well, you'll be waiting for them at the entrance. There should be a few rooms nearby that can be used as an impromptu interrogation room there.

"Acknowledged, Miss Matsuda. We'll have them ready for you."

You thank him once more, before allowing the static filling in radio silence to key itself down to an inaudible level. You glance back at the idols - it seems they're getting ready for the next song number, which you remember is the opening song for the OVA of that porn Midori makes.

"We're nearly up, Chiaki-chan!" Ruri chimes as she steps forward, bouncing in her Miracle Midori costume. And for some reason, her costume is accurate enough that even the...bouncing...is properly replicated. Despite you remembering that she's not all that bouncy to begin with. "Come on, are you ready for your big debut? And you don't even have to wear a costume, since yours is already perfect!"

Sayaka meets your gaze, and shakes her head. Hanging back behind the idol, she taps at her ear - saying that she'd been listening to the frequency, too. She then gestures to Ruri, then to herself, then flashes you the international symbol that meant, pretty much, that she'll be wearing the idol like underwear. Index and middle finger held tightly together.

If we decided to get a message out to Wendy, it'd give us a chance to do that, too.

If Wendy is in the crowd this may be our best and only chance to spot her before blood starts spraying. Both choices are fine. It's

Both are valid things. Both of them have a pretty much equal chance of wendyisms.

O God, that would be perfect and everything could be explained as wires and SFX. It would be the greatest show Ruri ever put on, she would be all over it, with us defending RuriMidori from the crazy golden knife wielding MG using our own golden deagle, ultimately resolving the conflict with hugs and hand holding in true MG fashion. All broadcast live for millions. QB will be all like, this isn't generating any despair at all...
>>
>>27161036
The primary objective is to protect the principal. Spending time on thugs (who are, at best, the secondary objective) is unwise, particularly right after they tried to GTFO from whatever's coming. If they get away, we can still hunt them down later, but we can't un-kill Ruri.

You nod at Sayaka, before turning back to Ruri and shaking your head. As much as you were waiting to make your big debut of lipsynching to a packed worldwide audience, something else has come up that needs your immediate attention. Something that involves a yak, his knees, and your gun. And it really can't wait.

"B-but...!" Ruri pouts here, clearly displeased at this turn of events. "I'm already dressed up and everything to be your Miracle Midorin, Chiaki-chan! And really, I'll be leading the entire way, you don't have to worry about placing and stuff, you just need to look cool! Come on, I gotta have the real deal for this number...!"

The super idol's plea ends in a plaintive note, tears welling up at the conrers of her eyes, and for a moment you're actually compelled to just suck it up and say yes. The yak and his buddies can stew for a while, can't day? Besides, you'll just be singing for one number, and that's it. Do you really have to be so uncooperative sometimes--

It's here that Deepthroat suddenly comes into the scene, in that awkward, sweaty, drippy way that she does. Mumbling something underneath her breath as she squeezes past idols and extras, you see her smile wanly at you before tugging at Ruri's cape, whispering something into her ear.

The super idol, still sniffing, seems to blink in surprise for a few moments as she listens - and it's here that she flashes you a grin. "Haah. Chiaki-chan, you lucky devil. Good thing I thought about the possibility of this happening, and arranged a backup plan just in case!"

A backup plan...?

"...She means me, Chiaki-san," a familiar voice says as some of the idols crowding around Ruri part - to reveal...well, a rather spitting image of yourself, from the glasses to the costume, albeit with Murder Mayumi-styled differences. A shiny metal Shield, with chainsaw teeth jutting from its rim, gleams from her right arm.

>>

WHAT
>>
>>27161449

What? Who? You blink at this strange apparition. Is that...?

...

This idol. This idol made Iori dress up like you! ...Sort of!

"Ruri-san knew you were going to find some way out of this performance, and kindly asked me to take your place." A small smile curls your slightly-distorted reflection's lips. "N-not that she had to. I volunteered myself." It's here that her cheeks redden at your slack-jawed stare. "U-um, I don't look too weird, don't I, Chiaki-san? It's just a wig, and this isn't real blood..." She points towards the splotches of crimson on her bomber jacket's collar, as well as on her Shield. "...And goodness, how do you even wear these heels for as long as you do? I'm barely an hour into this costume and already my feet hurt!"

It's...uh...you never really thought about that kind of thing, you wanted to say. Or rather, it does hurt a fucking lot, but it kind of takes care of itself after you've started running in them enough that your feet have practically given up telling you how much they hurt.

But you're a bit too stunned at the moment to see Iori cosplaying as you. It's...it's pretty surreal.

"I wasn't even going to bring her out if you went along, Chiaki-chan," Ruri harrumphs, stepping up behind Iori and placing both her hands on her shoulders. "But yeah, Iori-chan, looks like you were right about her - Chiaki doesn't really like fun, doesn't she?" The super idol sticks her tongue out at you again. "We'll just have to do the number without her, it seems like!"

Iori shakes her head at this. "N-no, Ruri-san--"

"Ruri-chan!" The super idol corrects her, petulantly.

The idol wearing your face looks at you, bearing an expression of saintly patience being stressed, before managing to smile again. "A-alright. Ruri-chan, Chiaki-san doesn't really hate fun. She's...not just used to the work we do, after all." She looks at you, smiling. "We should leave her to do what she does best. Don't you agree, Chiaki-san?"

How do you respond?

Sayaka's job is protecting Ruri. Professional as she is, Ruri will take priority when anything goes wrong. Iori's chances of survival are consequently lowered, because Sayaka will be concentrating on Ruri, since that's her job.
>>
>>27161759
Or we could have any number of our goons interrogate them and still get the same information, while being closer to GROUND ZERO when shit hits the fan, like a good bodyguard.
>>
>>27161759
When the job is to protect someone and you know there's something imminent, you generally don't stop being a bodyguard for that person.
>>
Come on guys.

Let's agree to disagree.

Let's not get heated up over this, okay?
>>
Gentlemen, please control your analpain.
Nobody's dying on stage, since we've got Sayaka and like half the squad Hiryu to deal with that kind of shit.
And if you're worried that someone may target her afterwards, we can simply make someone watch for her ass or something.

And here I was thinking that Iori shitstorms were over after we unanimously rejected her.
>>
>>27161792
>>27161780
When have we ever claimed to be a good bodyguard?
>>
>>27161716
That has nothing to do with this, we were given a warning by a ghost in a golden weapon. We should go out there and spot Wendy if possible, take lori place Sayaka is capable of protecting Ruri but could she defend against another golden weapon. I'm assuming that's how Yuu detected her in the first place.

[x]Stare. "Considering that I may be a target now, I don't feel comfortable having someone else dressed up like me running around in full view now." Rub face. "This is going to be stupid, but I'll go on stage." Glare at Ruri. "But I suck at all of this, so don't expect miracles, Midori."
Then radio to get someone from the Hiryu squad or some Kyousuke goons to start the interrogation, and have it broadcast to your earpiece so we can listen in and add as needed.
>>
>>27161801
Man, imagine justifying that to QB if something DOES go down. "Well, in my defense, I'm bad at this."

We took the job, we perform it to the best of our ability.
>>
>>27161792
>>27161780
Or we trust Sayaka, the best Eversor in the Ninth, to handle things on stage while we're free to move about the entire area and handle anything that comes up instead of, y'know, being trapped on stage when shit goes down. Because when shit DOES go down it is most certainly not going to start on-stage.

Sometimes its a good idea to not put all your eggs in one basket.
>>
Don't MGs have a magical signature? Wouldn't Iori be safe from non-normies up on stage because she wouldn't show up as a sparkly?
>>
>>27161847
In our defense, we got a really shit briefing for this mission and would never have taken it if we got even a hint of how complicated it was going to be.
>>
>>27161847
Seriously this, the yaks are trying to run, let kyouske chat with them, threats of twelve rapes per second should get them to spill the beans, while we perform the task we were hand picked for.
I just hope a voice of reason prevails, and were on stage when the blood starts flying and people start dying.
>>
>>27161888
Actually now I want to change my vote to this. Make Kyousuke interrogate them while still in the Krauser garb.
>>
>>27161902
If you seriously think that a stage outfit is going to frighten a bunch of gangsters, I'm afraid your stupidity cannot be cured.
>>
>>27161806
Just because you don't like what someone is doing doesn't make it retarded.
Are you forgetting that this is a massive concert being transmitted worldwide with a franchise worth in the millions, and that Murder Mayumi being advertised ties into a major part of projected profits?
Of course there would be backup plans for an advertisement campaign this big.

Go and kill yourself, so we don't have to deal with your idiocy anymore.
>>
>>27161877
We were told by a specialist in magical signature tracking that ours was unusual. If someone doesn't know that and is looking for a standard signature, or knows we don't have a typical signature, they might bet on lori being us anyway. Not that I care if she dies or not, I just want to make contact with Wendy asap.
>>
>>27161884
>would never have taken it if we got even a hint of how complicated it was going to be.

No, we still would have. We took this mission because it asked for us specifically. Otherwise I think we would never have taken it.

Also fuck that mentality. Avoiding missions because they might be complicated. We are trying to be a good Warmaster, not one who shirks her responsibility because it might be a little hard.
>>
>>27161937
>If someone doesn't know that and is looking for a standard signature, or knows we don't have a typical signature, they might bet on lori being us anyway
But Iori doesn't have any magical signature.

>>27161964
Fuck no. This isn't complicated, this has just been dealing with idol bullshit.
>>
>>27161971
I thought the whole place had kind of a blanket signature because of off-duty meguca in the crowd?
>>
>>27161980
As I recall, Enishi just picked up more minute signatures of said off-duty Meguca. Any transformed one would have a more prominent signal.
>>
>>27160707
>She then gestures to Ruri, then to herself, then flashes you the international symbol that meant, pretty much, that she'll be wearing the idol like underwear. Index and middle finger held tightly together.

So she is going to have Ruri between her thighs?
>>
>>27161964
After all this shit is done, I'm voting for a search and destroy next time we get to pick, or a witch hunt. Less idols, less deceit, much more murder.

Of course since it is HaHaHa running the show from the moon, the next SND will be hunting Megucas controlled by golden weapons.

So no, please go kill yourself or at least assume a trip so "we" can properly filter you.

Our next missions is the smash'n'grab from the offshore platform..2 days after the end of this? Or was it 1. Basically soon.
>>
>>27161964
I voted for taking this mission on the assumption that it would involve nothing more than lounging around, swatting away a grabby Idol every once in a while.
I would not have voted for it if I thought, for even a second, that it would be anything other than that, because Chiaki is not good at bodyguarding. We proved that with Iori's first mission, the second one was WORSE, and I am seriously looking forward to everything falling apart now, because either Ruri will die, or she will be forced into hiding. Either way, mission over.

I think next time we should make full use of our Warmaster rank and decide what we do for our self. And I think we should go to America to pay the rabbits a visit and scout the place out for golden weapons.

As Warmaster we can make missions. Diplomacy is a kind of mission and a huge part of our job. Plus QB likes to keep a good relation with his American counterpart.

We got better shit to do than to hunt Witches, unless it's for sport, or other low ranking missions. It's good that we took this easy mission to get a feel for how well we can work with blueberry. Because things are only going to get harder from here on.

You get over the initial shock of seeing Ruri being made up to look like you - and with enough effort, you manage to tell her to have fun, but also to be careful. Anything Sayaka tells her to do, she follows to the letter, and that she should always be alert. Just in case something happens.

"Eh?" Iori blinks. "Um...is there anything about to happen, Chiaki-chan?" She looks at you, then at Sayaka, then at Ruri. "There...this isn't going to be like last time, isn't it? Ruri-chan's not in any danger, is she?"

You glance at Sayaka, and the Blueberry glares at you - before giving the barest, most impercetible shake of her head.

Fine. No, you tell Iori. There's no clear and present danger - not yet from what you can see. You have a few suspects that you think might be up to causing trouble, but they're already on their way backstage, escorted by armed security detail who have eager trigger fingers and not much mood for bullshit.

Still, you want her to listen to the blue-haired Eversor at all times, and to be conscious of her surroundings. You're not saying anything will happen, but on the off-chance does, you'll do everything in your power to make sure she comes back home safely.

"A-ah. well." Iori looks uncertain here, wringing her hands behind her back, but she manages to work up a smile after a few moments. "Alright, Chiaki-san. I trust you with my life. Please take care of me." She bows, formally and primly, and you can't help but feel...well. Bad, you suppose, but what? About how you practically stomped on her feelings twice? Or maybe because she's trusting her own life to someone who can't even take care of herself most of the time, much less other people?

Whatever thought train that was going on, however, it was quickly derailed by Trainmaster Ruri and her Ruse Train. On which there are no brakes, or the ability to read the mood.

Our doom, or lori's, has been decided already, deck is just writing it up have patience. Your shadowruns cannot prepare you.
>>
>>27162424

"Well, this is nice and all, but what about me, Chiaki-chan?" You had no idea that Ruri could pout harder than she did, earlier - but it's happening, and it's all you can do not to give in. Or want to slap it off her face already. "It goes double for me, right? Right?"

...Yeah. Yeah, double. And you'll have to talk to her about her idea of backup plans later. Seriously.

"Hee, sure~!" Ruri winks at you. "I know Chiaki-chan can use a few sneaky tricks up her sleeve!"

Right. Yeah. Sure. Sneaky.

Suddenly, a bell rings from somewhere inside the dressing room, and it's then that Ruri claps her hands. "That's the call, everyone! Come on, everyone, we're up! Noriko-chan, be steady with the webcast camera this time, and be sure to get my good side!" With a flourish, Ruri sweeps the cape of Miracle Midori's costume to the side, before swooping out of the room, Deepthroat in tow.

"Y-yes, Ruri-sama! ...Nnahh, p-please, slow down!"

You shake your head as you watch the idols follow their leader out - only to blink as you realize that Iori's hung around, even after the last costumed performer had already left.

An awkward silence stretches between the both of you, for the briefest of moments. A silence soon broken by her gasp as you take her hand, stopping her from leaving.

"C-Chiaki-san...?" Iori murmurs, her eyes wide behind her fake glasses, turning towards you, going red in the face. "I...um...the performance..."

...You immediately let go with your hand as you tear off the Warmaster Cap with the other. Turning around, you stuff the symbol of rank and office into your inventory with unwarranted vehemence and EXTREME VIOLENCE. God...goddammit. Goddamn hat! GODDAMN KHARN!

"Is anything wrong, Chiaki-san?" You can almost hear the concern in her voice. "Do...do you need some water? Some coffee, maybe? I realize that this has been stressful, and...Ruri-san doesn't really help, does she?"

[2/3]
>>
>>27162448

No. No, she doesn't, but...you'll be fine, you tell her. You turn around to manage a smile of your own, as half-assed as it is.

You just wanted to, um, thank her for the substitution. If you knew she was the prepared sub, then you probably would've said to hell with it, and performed instead. But this thing with the yakuza--

"I know, Chiaki-san, and it's fine. You don't need to thank me, or apologize." Iori smiles. "We're friends now, right? Not clients or...or anything else." She lets out a small sigh at this - one that sounded resigned than anything else - before shaking her head. "There's no need to be awkward. Besides, I did volunteer, and it'll be quite the opportunity for me to sing something I usually balk at." She pauses here. "And...well, if something does happen, then Chiaki-san will come and rescue me, right?" The idol asks this with a smile, a smile totally unlike an idol's smile.

Just a regular smile from a normal girl.

How do you respond?

Actually, yes, it was advertised that Murder Mayumi would be on stage and singing.
Thread 106 and Thread 109, Ruri tells the webcast that Chiaki, the Murder Mayumi cosplayer, will be at the concert, and in 109, she tells us that we'll be singing, and using lip-syncing to get around our voice.

...Yeah. Yeah, of course. It didn't even need to be said.

"Then my worries are unfounded," Iori replies, still smiling, bowing once more towards you. "It's been a pleasure knowing you, Chiaki-san, and I do hope we can spend time with each other in a much more...well, typical setting, rather than the ones we keep finding ourselves in." Her smile turns to a cheerful grin. "Who knows, maybe we can spend time as normal friends once in a blue moon!"

Yeah. Maybe. That'd...be good, yes.

"Iori-chan?" Sayaka pokes her head into the room, blinking as she spots your...well, your singing double. "Come on! Number's about to begin, we're all ready!"

"A-ah, coming, Sayaka-chan!" Iori turns back to you and gives you another wave of her Shield-clamped arm. It's here, though, that you toss her your half-squashed pack of cigarettes - the thing neatly landing on her upraised palm. She blinks at this, puzzled. "Um, Chiaki-san, I don't smoke--"

No, she doesn't, but Murder Mayumi does. You're not telling her to actually smoke one, though - just take one out and stick it between her lips, or teeth. Just to grab onto it. It'd make her look cooler - and if anything, make her cosplay of you accurate.

"O-oh...oh, I see!" Iori nods. "I'll...make sure to use this carefully, Chiaki-san! Anyway, good luck!" She waves at you once more, before finally running over to join Sayaka outside - and leaving you alone with your thoughts and a clear lack of smokes.

It's fine, you tell yourself. That little scene just meant that Iori had indeed moved on. Just like you asked her to. Just like you told her to.

And maybe someday, you'll be able to follow your own advice, too.

...Idols. Never again.

Then it isn't Slaanesh. It's just a sex demon with the same name
>>
>>27163103

The crowd grows absolutely insane - cheering, screaming, applauding - before gradually petering out into blissful, symmetrical silence. Silence that only the most popular idol of the world can ask for without even saying a word.

Without opening her eyes, Ruri starts to sing.

It's...well. It's a simple song, granted. Simple lyrics, the beat isn't all that complex, nor is there any sort of aural gymnastics being put into play with the instruments or voicework used. But its message is clear - that love, no matter how strong, no matter how fervent, can tear a complete whole asunder as efficiently as hate could. As efficiently as any weapon could.

Your earbud crackles to life just as Iori - or Murder Mayumi - steps into the song's second chorus. Her voice cold, strong, vehement - the complete opposite of Ruri's warmth, vulnerability and hesitation. Their voices melding as one.

"Miss Matsuda?" Ben's voice comes through. "We're here."

Perfect, you reply. You glance up at the screen once more, before taking hold of the remote control and turning the thing off. The flatscreen television beeps, before its picture cuts ouut just as Iori and Ruri shares an on-screen, mid-song kiss.

The crowd cheers. Blood flies. Another Magical Girl is taken out of the tournament after sustaining “reasonable injuries”. The winner gets her beating delayed for another round and is given a day break until the next round.

I’m not even sure why I’m here. I was just told to go, that I could be evaluated better. Sure, I guess I could use a fight or two around here. Even Eightball said I could use some. But then there are the differences. People are watching our every move. There is a prize for the taking, though this is mostly just about bragging rights. But I think the biggest thing of all is that this is real training. Hitting a big sack of sand is good and all, but here there is danger, there is injury and there will be blood. I guess I’m more experienced in that then some others here.

There are of course rules. No Culexus’ allowed, since it would be down-right unfair. Only use weapons that are a part of you, so no swordsman switching out for spears or knife-throwers going gunslinger. No using the audience, period. Nobody talks about the last time that happened. It’s better that way.

Fights are stopped after “reasonable injuries” are sustained, or death. Death is… easier to pull off, but stopping a fight without doing anything extra might be good in terms of honor, or something. Most don’t try that, they say it gives an extra adrenaline when your life is on the line, makes fights harder, last longer and more appeasing. You could always surrender, of course, but it’s considered the sissy way out.

But maybe… maybe I’ve had enough unnecessary death in my life already. Plus this officio is already filled to the brim with blood-thirsty killers. I’ve heard enough stories about the crème ala crème of the Eighth, and especially about the Wonderland Corps. They are probably looking for more of themselves out here, and their searching is easy.

>>
>>27163192
All you need to do is look into the girl's eyes when they fight. They tell everything.

“Oh, you’re here. Didn’t think I’d see you in a place like this.” I already know where the soft voice comes from as I turn to the petite girl behind me. Short white hair barely touches her bare shoulders as the black/white dress goes down to her knees where her black stockings and boots take over. The biggest show is the red ribbons tied to her wrists that flow behind her, a lead to what she can do as a magical girl.

“Well I knew you would be here, Sami. This stuff is exactly what you like. Complete Eversor potential right here.” I know it’s this personality that makes me unlikable, even as I grin about it, but I’ve been around Sami to know she doesn’t care at all.

“I’m here to practice. If I win then I win.” She scans the room with her violet eyes, devoid of most emotion. It’s even scarier in combat. “I don’t get why people get so bloodthirsty over this stuff. Everyone who dies just gets brought back.”

“It’s because things have been going slow as of late. Plus some bloodlust is what the higher-ups are looking for in the group.”

“They just want stuff dead. Of course that’s what they want to see.”

“Good point.”

It’s not really much of a friendship other then just talking every now and then. We just happen to agree with stuff, including the necessity to be on your own to practice. It works out nice, at least when we agree with each other.

“Sami Richardson, Cloey Hughes, next to fight!” The announcement rings over the system, already energizing the audience for the blood to come. Sami already makes her way to the stage.

“Show them pain.” She gives this look at that… I can’t really decipher, and then enters the ring.

I should really teach her a lesson some day.

(2/7)
>>
>>27163215
The two enter the big square that is the arena. It looks like her opponent, Cloey, is a vindicare from the revolver clearly stashed on her side. There’s probably one on the other side to. She doesn’t even bother transforming from the looks of it, though it’s probably because of her cheeky cowboy outfit. Sami’s already ready to go.

“Three, two, one, fight!”

*FWOOSH*

Samis’ first move is intimidation, immediately flourishing her ribbons to two extra, then four, eight, until she’s nearly surrounded in them. Cloey tries to take a few shots, but nothing gets through the barrier.

Then it’s over in seconds. Quick and clean, charging in followed by a few ribbon cuts to the abdomen, the arms and one straight to the head for a decapitation. All the while her expression never falters. It’s what makes her so devastating in combat. Either she never saw her coming so quickly or never had a chance to use her ability.

“The winner is Sami in our fastest match yet!” The crowd cheers, but Sami just leaves the arena and heads straight for the exit. A few come into the arena to gather the body and soul gem for reviving her, cleaning it up for the next fight.

My turn.

(3/7)
>>
>>27163112
>No, I mean when we popped in when she was changing
That was last thread, and again, no, we did not bring up us not going out to sing, at all.

The only subjects discussed were that the Tojo Group was here, that we didn't make a scene with them, then Kyosuke/Krauzer came up, we comforted Sayaka, then one of the Squad Hiryu girls told us that Mine was making a break for his limo.

So no, you are misremembering things, and that's what's being argued here.
>>
>>27163224
While making the tournament voluntary made things easier for the one’s who weren’t broken by reality yet, it has a slight downside; where not every girl knows what to expect when they enter. The last fight was over so quick because Sami knew what had to be done, while I could see the terror in the other’s face moments before her head was removed from her body. I hope the same doesn’t happen to my fight.

“Gina Falette, Alexi Gomez, next to fight!” The crowd cheers are a bit louder this time. True to Eightballs words, that mission in the museum made me quite popular among the newbie crowd. I know that it’s natural to look up to someone, but it doesn’t need to be the first MG who does something so “cool and awesome”.

…Okay, maybe I was asking for it for being so flashy, but at least I got a fight ahead of me with-

…Is that a mancatcher? Well, it’s a variation of one, but damn! It’s a spear in the front with a scythe-like curved blade in the back, meant to impale and drag people back. Due to the double-sided weapon, it’s held by a handle connected to the hilt.

Well this should be fun.

“Three, two, one, fight!”

…And she goes invisible. My fucking day.

(4/7)
>>
>>27163235
I put as much focus as I can in the shield and walk out to the center. Even with any heightened senses I’ve gotten from becoming a magical girl won’t help me for long. I need to react first to her going onto me, and the shield should…

There!

Too late, but it absorbs the first attack. Turning towards her I summon and swing the mace at her weapon to get it away, but she maintains grip.

That’s when I realize I don’t know how to fight against this weapon.

For a while I just delay the fight, reading her patterns and techniques. It may be boring but this is a part of practice. Retirements happen every year and there’s no telling me when the next one will be on my hands. The more you know about someone the easier they become to deal with, like Sami. Or if you want to turn it around, me.

“Come ON you stupid! Just fucking fight already!” She’s getting agitated for her lack of bloodlust as I successfully dodge or parry her attacks. But fine, if she wants action…

I force her weapon to slide a different direction using the small gap in my mace then desummon it. If I can’t fight her like that, I can bring the fight where it’s uncomfortable for her. I dash in for an elbow to the chest, a knee to the stomach, grabbing her free arm and putting it in a lock behind her where-

OW. Of course I forget it’s a fucking mancatcher. The scythe rear of the weapon finds a nice place in my backside, and it’s slowly digging in further. My magic boils as it seeks an exit point. I wrap an arm around her neck and release it there, a direct bolt to her upper body.

Now it’s fighting time.

(5/7)
>>
>>27163103
>It's been a pleasure knowing you
Even she knows the time is at hand.
>>
>>27163247
We broke up after that. Well, more like we decided to stop putting each other in a painful position where neither of us could move so we could find our footing again.

That… sounds odd when I put it like that.

My opponent, Alexi I think it was, wastes no time in charging back at me with her weapon raised flat and in front of her. It’s an offensive move in a defensive form, so I just need to make her decide between the two or loose balance. I put up the gap in the mace again to catch the bar and use its forward force to slide myself under her, bringing the mace up as I do to hit her near her…

Well, nobody should really be hit there, ever. Men can make fun of it all they want, but it still fucking hurts. That’s why it works for me.

She doubles over, giving me the opportunity strike. One swift strike against her hips with the mace. Bones crack and break, the leg nearly disjoints, the spine rattles from the vibrations and she falls to the floor in more pain. After all of this she still attempts to get up, but trembles under her current load of pain, leaving her on her hands and knees.

“This was never a fight.” I coldly state as I walk to her, mace in hand and still itching to strike. “This is a lesson to you, to NEVER fight with someone like me!” The coup de grace is one massive blow to the center of her spine from up high and brought down hard. The spine breaks and shatters in a few places, even the ribs feel it. The heart stops for one second and the wind is knocked out of her.

My opponent falls completely unconscious, and soon after I’m declared the winner. Whoopy-fucking-doo.

I’m not so certain yet how I think of the crowds cheers. Is it because they want me to succeed? Are they proud of me incapacitating one of their fellow girls? Or are they just all savoring the bloodlust, for each round that someone nearly dies or does die?

Hell, if they needed more rabbits why don’t they just look at the audience?

Still, I savor the reactions. Their yelling, cheering, applauding, it makes you feel better. It’s somewhat good after almost killing a fellow girl, something to get your mind off of what had just happened in the few minutes past. I nod my head and wave at them as I walk myself out of the arena and out of the building. No smiling, though. That’s what they’re looking for. Just a limp, backstab still hurts like hell.

“Good job.” To my surprise, Sami stayed in the arena and joins me on the way out of the building. “Could have done it quicker. Why did you wait?”

“Was practice, ow.” I hold onto my back, still bleeding out. My magic takes care of it a little but it still hurts. “Just in case I ever get called to do a retirement. Plus I can now safely assure myself I want to try out that weapon.”

“Collecting trophies now?” Sami asks me, completely deadpan.

“Is there a problem with liking weapons?” I meant this partly as a joke, but her response was a sign of things to come.

“The world always turns it eyes to the ones showing theirs. You’ll be noticed eventually.”

(And I'm done! Feedback is always appreciated!)

The time we popped in when Ruri was changing was last thread, and it only had us telling her that the yaks had taken the premium seats, and then being told by one of the Vindicares that the yaks had gotten up and were trying to run from the concert.

Us not going out to sing was never brought up.

The present tense and first-person viewpoint certainly don't help matters, but so far it just seems like a wankfest over this character beating up low level punks. Doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of actual plot to it.

The terrible thing about this is that it's not even a character trait that we're going for, but something caused by players remembering things wrong, and then accusing other players of pulling things out of their ass when called to task for misremembering details.

>>
>>27163409
I'm very disappointed with this development, chiaki has an unreliable memory, but she is very determined and usually gets the job done.even if she has to wade through the blood and the shit. Now it seems that every time she makes a decision, she immediately chooses a new choice when it's brought up, even if merely an hour or two has passed.

This is caused not by character struggle, but merely by the audience participation changing from game to game. How can anyone build any trust in chiaki when from hour to hour her mindset completely shifts and she totally forgets what she said prior or promised to do.

I can't imagine what it would be like to have a friend/boss like that.

>>
>>27163613
Go back through the archives and prove it.
We've got evidence saying that we were going to go up on stage until the Yakuza situation made us reconsider.

For the record, I'm fine if we reconsidered because of a change in the situation; that's perfectly normal and what a good security detail should do, adapt to changing situations.

But what I'm trying to prove, and what I can't stand, is when people say that things happened that didn't actually happen, and then shit on people that call them out on their mistake.
>>
>>27163609

Guess we just need to be clearer and jot down this stuff and bring it up later. I would imagine that Decu is pulling the punches a bit as far as the in-character consequences go, since the audience composition may fluctuate wildly.

I would say three threads more, barring unforeseen evantualities!

>>27163557

Hahaha, people with a lot of responsibility often make mistakes like that. But I think, as long as Chiaki stays true to what she's there for, it's still okay. In here, you guys identified the yakuza as a way to find out what the threat is, and going after it directly should help. So it's not exactly breaking a promise, but rather choosing to do something else to help carry out that promise better.

"You are a Magical Girl, and you're currently being fucked with.

No, it wasn't used.

>>
>>27163807
No promise was ever made, unless you count a dismissive "whatever" as one. Our stance always was one of "fuck off, no dance if it can be helped".

>>

You thought they'd be satisfied with the answer and get you out of the camera's line of sight, but apparently you're still in the limelight. Ruri's smile turning into a grin.
>"...And get that fucking camera out of my face before I shoot it," You find yourself growling, before you could stop yourself. Deepthroat visibly shakes at this, the camera rattling in her hands, and she probably would've fallen back had it not been for Ruri steadying her with a hand.
This heavily implies that it DID happen, and if it didn't then it would be solely Deculture's fault, not the players.

>You grumble something about how it simply comes as second nature to you. You thought they'd be satisfied with the answer and get you out of the camera's line of sight, but apparently you're still in the limelight.
We said that acting as Murder Mayumi just comes as second nature. That's all we said.
>Ruri's smile turning into a grin.
So she continued to grin at us. Not much of a change, and not as if we shot her down.

>"...And get that fucking camera out of my face before I shoot it," You find yourself growling, before you could stop yourself. Deepthroat visibly shakes at this, the camera rattling in her hands, and she probably would've fallen back had it not been for Ruri steadying her with a hand.

That's WITH second posts.
Note the "ignored voting rules".

But if we loosen the standards more:
Vote "You hired me for bodyguard services"-shoot her down:

25620854 - second
25620869 - second
25620878 - second
25620891 - second, but goes on to say to play along for the sake of the web audience
25620894 - second
25620903 - second
25620911

25620881 - vote against

And that's it.

The ones that were for glaring at the camera all said to play along with the cover story.
All of the posts were for playing along with the cosplayer cover.
>>
>>27164731

Shooting Ruri down still loses the vote.
>>
>>27164125
>>27164093
>>27164075
As can be seen by the votes, no, Decu went with the most voted option of going with the cosplay cover.
Deculture did not "flat-out ignore" what the players want, because the majority of the players got what they asked for, which was to play along and not try to shoot Ruri down in front of a world-wide Internet audience.

Just because you think it happened, doesn't mean it happened, and we can prove it because it's all archived.
And actually check your facts, otherwise you end up like this anon, >>27163734
who made a fool of himself even as he insulted others.
>>
I don't see why it matters. Who cares what Ruri thinks of Chiaki (she certainly didn't react like we'd promised her shit...), any performance would be contingent on not having more important stuff to do, which is the case, not performing is far more IC for even reformed Chiaki, and it won this vote handily.
>>
>>27165378
What matters is people incorrectly remembering things and making decisions based on those incorrectly remembered details, and then shouting down anyone that tries to correct them about it.

Yes, Chiaki performing on stage would be contingent on not having something more important, and deciding that finding out what the Yakuza were running from is a valid reason to reconsider going on stage.
But people were acting as if we'd never agreed to it, declaring that we had shot down any intention of getting up on stage, when we had done no such thing.

This brings into question what other details or promises we might have forgotten about or could be misremembering.
Anons like this >>27163734 are part of the problem.
>>
>>27165485
I don't think it's a problem, the reason so many thought that she'd been shut down is that actually performing is both massively OOC, and massively favored (as shown by this vote), and it's been suggested and backed up in votes several times, people just didn't notice it never ended up actually winning one of these votes. I can't think of anything else which would be in a similar situation.
>>
>>27165575
refusing to perform is massively favored, sorry.
>>
>>27165378
>Who cares what Ruri thinks of Chiaki
Decu said certain characters are keeping track of all the times we break our promises and going back on agreements and agreed upon courses of action. I'm worried about them.
As said here:
>>27163409
>Well, certain characters are indeed taking stock of everything Chiaki does

Also, of how our actions are perceived by Chiaki's subordinates; as this anon said >>27163557

>>27165575
Actually performing isn't massively out of character, as you put it, because it's part of our job.
Refusing to go out to perform this round wasn't because Chiaki didn't want to, but because we need the information from Mine of the Tojo Group about what he has planned.

>and it's been suggested and backed up in votes several times
See, this never happened.
Each time that Ruri said that we were going to go up on stage, we said that we'd do it if we have to. We never actually said no.
>>
>>27165575
...thinking aboit it, this has to be one of the most bizarre situations possible for a Quest.
>>
>>27165688
Performing was never part of our job, and it was certainly never perceived as part of it by anons at any point. I 100% believe that people would have voted against performing even if nothing had come up, maaaaaybe changed their minds due to worry for Iori getting targetted out there but not before. The atmosphere in the threads for this storyline has generally been anti-Ruri, pro-doing-our-job-and-no-more after all. Do you have anything to back up your belief that a majority would otherwise be pro-performing?

>See, this never happened.
Of course it has, as the recent argument has shown it was both suggested and backed up by plenty of people back when it first came up, and I personally customed shutting it down in another vote later on. None of them won, no, but plenty of support for it. And either way, complications did indeed show up, and people did indeed massively vote against it, and Ruri's reaction was more that of someone who was hoping to coerce Chiaki into going on stage, rather than a broken promise (with her theatrics surely she would have thrown in a 'you promised!' with her begging, if she actually thought Chiaki had done so).
>>
>>27165792
>Do you have anything to back up your belief that a majority would otherwise be pro-performing?
Every time that Ruri said that we were performing, we went along with it, and it was included in what Chiaki said she would do without massive outcry at either point.

There may have been support for what you voted for, but the fact that you never won means that there was voting for the other side.
