12th day of Prophecy, hour unknown, currently in a lucid dream.

You feel conflicted; the demands of the individual below your throne are a perfect mix of adolescent power fantasy and diplomatic insult that so skillfully managed to rile you up, you are left with nothing but cold, hard emotionless contempt, putting you in a strange clarity of mind as you count the meters and seconds it’d take for a javelin to pierce this sorry invader…

The worst is that he seem utterly convinced of his words while completely discarding your own warnings and demands, leading into this silent statement as you and the beast stare at one another in useless clash of intimidation and raw will, neither backing down or charging forth given the inevitably of coming to a proper conclusion should hostilities arise.

You are stronger than him, but he’s a slippery one; you’d only be able to shave off a part of his essence which will grow back in due time, what you need is a decisive blow and he knows that very well, reason of his distance and why he’s looking up at you sitting in your old, stone throne.

Probably the only concession he’s willing to make in the first place.

He fidgets slightly under your gaze, not out of sudden weakness, his face betray an expression of intense disinterest as he find this total silence very, very boring and you can’t help but purse your lisps in frustration at the cheekiness of this «All Evil of the World», he’s seriously failing at living up to the name but that may just be the reason why he’s still in… incubation.

Now that you think about it, how could you ever hope to come to some kind of compromise with the Beast with simple dialogue? Intimidation proved utterly useless, amiability is just as stupid a venture given his selfishness which resulted in this cold war of sort. Even before the Beast gained sentience you remember very well that it always, always attempted to reach out and consume you, or try and influences others through sudden sneak attacks; only once did you fail to contain it, but these events marked your disposition toward each other’s much more effectively than any dialogues.

Maybe trying to force it to obey was fruitless from the start…

Clicking his tongue at the end of his sentence, the Beast growl in displeasure as your eyes cross, the total lack of acknowledgement seem to have some effect.

You could always try to get some information’s out of him; putting a collar seems impossible, but maybe gaining some insight into his nature would prove useful…

Or you could simply leave his presence and wake yourself from your slumber.

Then he grows silent as disbelief fall upon him like a wet blanket, his previously assured, pissed off emotions shaving to reveal strange insecurity which quickly melt into outright sadism.

He stop again, obviously wracking his brains as what is obviously long forgotten memories suddenly spring to life in his mind; the face of the Beast goes through many emotions as he silently rummage through his memories and finally you’ve had enough. You stomp on your throne and lean forward.

Pretty much. Beast alignement is pretty much Chaotic Evil, none of his deal will hold, none of his promises are to be taken, everything he say is pretty much falsehood or made up on the spot unless he's being emotional.

The best way to deal with him is by entertaining him. In fact, being bored is probably his worst poison.

You feel yourself coming to, you’re tired and overworked body groan in immediate protest as the past days finally took they’re tolls; Holy can only go so far against natural fatigue. You try to clear your blurry vision by blinking but finally end up rubbing your eyes, causing an immediate quiet little sound from Emeth as she jump to her feet, you try to squeeze out of bed but Mylen is so thoroughly hugging you that… you can’t move out.
Both of her arms have circled around your chest, her wings are rolled around your belly to squeeze you tight while one of her leg rest on yours with, of course, her face sleeping soundlessly next to yours, her long dark hair caressing your skin, sending slight tingle of excitement down your spine as the silky smooth, enchanted texture almost rob you of your sanity…

Mylen always slept like that; never the one to accept the embrace, she always, always loved to cuddle with you and ‘’keep you safe’’ to the point that you stopped minded the role reversal. Her body is warm and firm, very comfortable and actually a bit taller than you and of course, much more exercised given her predilection for close combat.

Not that you’re shabby either.

Your body doesn’t feel reposed or even ready to get out of bed, however given that you’ve taken the saying ‘’I can sleep when I’m dead’’ literally, you fight the sleep out of your body however you can and continue rubbing your eyes until the water stop fogging your vision; if you’d fall asleep again you probably won’t be waking up any time soon, you’ll have to make due with some stimulants even if they taste horrible.

Now, slowly, so ever slowly, you start squeezing yourself out of bed; unfurling the arms imprisoning you prove a daunting task and sooner than you realize, Emeth is actually giving you a hand with this puzzle of flesh; her hands softly cup Mylen body as she move the obstruction out of the way with amazing delicacy and, without waiting, grab your hand and yank you out of bed, forgetting about Mylen face and your poor bodyguard cheek fall onto the pillow soundlessly but, she doesn’t wake up…

You’ve always found that girl sleep strange. If she were to sleep alone, the mere moment someone were to walk into a room, Mylen would wake up but once she’s straddling you? There is no disturbing this lioness.

She’ll probably keep sleeping for an hour or two.

Go get food. We learned earlier that it ain't too bad. It is, however, quite unfortunate that unless company policy is to serve the prisoners the daily special (and you best tell me what it is OP) we'll have to be getting her "prison food".

Shit's bad yo, really bad. I know, ate it while I was in school. Same company that served the downtown prison also served my school. So I already know how bad food is on the inside. It's edible, and just barely above the threshold for not spitting it out in disgust. That's all it has going for it. Seriously I doubt that was even real cheese, and I KNOW the chicken nuggets were only 40 percent chicken at the most.

The freshness of the autumnal morning fills your body with short lived, but still welcomed, vigor. The camp looks to be quite active during dawn, many soldiers going up and down the beaten paths while off in the distances sailors and others crusaders helping out the unloading of crates while a section of the (now finished) docks was reserved for the offloading’s of troops. The constant pitter-patter created the usual military symphony; people well directed to a task create a certain atmosphere that you’ve grown to love thank to your education.

Thank to your newly acquired Inquisitorial badge and uniform, you don’t have to wait in line for your food and simply need to walk up to a pair of soldiers giving out some pea soup and deliciously warm breads and get a double share, you can’t help but smile smugly at the various looks of pure ,raw envy of the soldiers as you walk back to your tent; it seems you’ve developed a bit of a reputation in the camp, people here seem to regard you a bit more naturally than the unattainable and dreadful «normal» Inquisitors.

All in all, a strange feeling of peace seems to be lingering inside the camp despite yesterday hectic events.

Honestly? Doing the turn into dark despair is probably what drove most of the readers off in the first place. QM/Player relations is a delicate thing, and while the whole VENGEFUL ANGRY OLD TESTAMENT DM is amusing in small doses, a lot of the threads basically became what was effectively a taunt to the players who wanted to try and keep what they had, and a feigning of innocence when called on it. It may not have been intended that way, but there you go.
Same shit happened in a couple other quests I've helped with.

I've honestly done as much as possible to keep choices the most important, sacro saint endeavor of this quest. I plan leaving holes and potential events for pretty much each updates and fully expect you guys to do stuff on your own, especially today and next update with the day off where you'll be able to pretty much go on your own if you so wish.

It's just that the lack of inputs is starting to be demoralizing, but more than that, much more than that, I think /tg/ format might not be the best of things, all of us want to move faster but I need to make up a huge chunk of my schedule, and you guys too, in order to proceed and marathon the quest for an evening.

Doing it two time a week is harsh, but I do it because I love it, my loyal reader base is all I have, and I can't pick up new blood with the insane length of my quest, thus, I've been thinking that I might actually move away from /tg/ in order to actually be more active with my quest.

See, the problem with that is that Anon can only really take so much abuse before dropping something. That and well... that push into whole being the closest thing to a demigod around and the bletsia business.... well, there is having a bit of an edge to you, then there is an overboard of SUFFERING AND REJOICE IN THE COMING OBLIVION sort of shit, that if there isn't some bright spots in the midst of the grim, then why fucking bother? That's the mistake a lot of folks doing 40k do. All the grim and edgy makes for stale reading.

This whole defection business has had at least all the readerbase I knef stressed and walking on eggshells until the point where they said "Fuck it, I'm out."

I'm not saying seriousness and edge is bad mind you, its just a fine line and a lot of QM's fall into the trap of adding too much or the perception of too much.

Think about it like this; we weren't able to do fucking anything to the Beast. I understand why, but its still annoying.
When it came to Mother Nature, it was pretty much implied that if we didn't do what she said, we'd get fucked. Hard.
Plus, Mylen would have been raped if it wasn't for the General, who seemed to immediately know that Sieg was under cover.

IN Quests, players always like to feel they have options. Choices. They have the ability to effect and change the things of that world. So, when they are given a situation where they are seemingly fucked or have to rely on others so much, they won't like it.

I mean, at the start of the quest, Siegfried was an undoubted bad ass. Taking on that succubus, invading the bandit camp, always in command and in control. I can't remember the last time we were really in control.
