I've already voted, but electronics make sense. That is what most of his tech is based on, right?
>>27290334School is shut down and she's still not talking to us. Our two leads (since the school phone is out of use) are HobGob (which we're working) and that tapped surveillance network in her neighborhood (which we probably need better hacking skills to infiltrate and trace the stalker's incursion from). So we be goblin proofing ourself.

>>27290533Okay. Well... Good job?
>>27290533...Well you sure corrected that.
>>27290554No...? Air doesn't work like that. Have you ever stood behind a gong when somebody hit it? Or stood next to a speaker at a concert?Same principle, just... well more painful. Our lenses would only shatter if they received much more force directed at just them, and the hobgoblin's laugh is omnidirectional, so the further away we are, the less stress our lenses are under.
Night guys, play on, swing web, and kick ass. Shenanigans call.
>>27290678Bees. My God.
>>27290623Isn't that just sound waves moving the air as they pass?Active cancelling would still protect from them. The only problem is making something that can output that much sound to act as a canceller.
>>27290728Eh, design it smart and it should be relatively energy efficient. After all we don't have to block it entirely, just negate enough of it that it isn't harmful to us. So negate the harmonic resonance bands and crank up (safely) some of the dissonance bands, should keep us from passing out.
>>27290728Ah. Right. I was referring to people last time talking about getting noise cancelling headphones to add to our suit as if that'll do anything. And getting that much sound is actually pretty easy. There are car wooffers that can easily put out that kind of sound. The hard part would be getting a device that could detect, analyze and project the opposing soundwave in real time.Because, no, I don't think we'll be that lucky that a simple recording of the Hobgoblin's Laugh will be enough to cancel out his laugh.Even on a 20.
>[ ]Material sciences>DC25, result 29- SuccessYou spend your time hitting the books, looking for anything that could help you. Some sort of noise canceling device could be helpful… maybe, but it’d still leave you at risk of his sonic shockwave. And that thing hurts like the dickens. And, even if you somehow did manage to create a device to neutralize it, then you’d have to carry it on yourself- and it could be damaged or targeted by him, putting you back to step one of the problem, with an angry Hobgoblin in your face. No, no it’d be best to stop as much of it as possible. You look into insulation and noise dampening materials, but there’s nothing existing right now that can do what you need it to. Well, not unless you want to be almost immobile, at least.But…Eureka. If you could take the properties of this soundproofing and put it into that compatible insulation material there, it /should/ theoretically do the job. Now, to make sure that it can work as a substance. You spend hours working on the theory, balancing equations and formulas until you get something stable- though, with all of the effort you’ve put into it, its more of its own unique substance now than simply a marriage of its components. Putting away your notes, making sure to not leave anything behind, you look around now that you’ve broken out of your trance to see Felicia in the chair next to you, her head resting atop a closed book- fast asleep. >[ ]Sit near her and watch the news>DC19, result-21- successYou turn on the news, interested to see if anything’s happened. The Hobgoblin’s been quiet, so hopefully he’s laying low. Hell, maybe Reed Richards and friends are better? The news begins, but the person on it isn’t the normal anchor- Its Jameson, looking very solemn and very angry. “My dear New Yorkers, there has been a terrible tragedy today. What follows tonight shouldn’t be seen by the young or faint of heart.”You feel Aunt May grip you leg, she’s watching the news nervously. “Today, sometime in the early afternoon, there was a mass murder. The victims… the victims were local families, UNSUSPECTING DAMN FAMILIES! Their bodies were desecrated, used to make some sort of twisted message. With police approval we now show you this gruesome message.”You stare at the images on the TV as your aunt grasps your leg, letting out a horrified gasp. Made out of human entrails and blood nailed to a wall is a message. You manage to swallow your disgust and bile at this.-“CAN YOU CATCH MESPIDER-MAN?”-
>>27293743The scene then cuts back to Jameson, who looks sickened. “At this time, the police are suspecting the individual in this image to be the culprit.”The scene cuts back to that of the Hobgoblin, looking up, for a moment before going back. “This grisly scene is a terrible tragedy, one undoubtedly made happen do to the individual known currently as the ‘Hobgoblin.’ As his plot’s thwarting of bombing the school, it seems obvious he wishes to send a message of terror to anyone who tries to stand in his way.”Jameson pauses and stares at the screen. “I say as a citizen of New York- I will not bow to this madman’s terrorism! Spider-man, if you’re really a ‘hero‘- do the world a favor and… KILL THIS BASTARD!”You see someone drag Jameson off screen as there’s an intermission sign go up. The Tv clicks off, Aunt May looking horrified, angry and disgusted. “What kind of monster…”You stare at the screen silently, the image burned into your mind.>Actions?
>>27293760"That sick animal!"
>>27293760"Son of a...
>>27293760"Ugh, typical media. Thousands starving in Africa, but because it's flashy, let's put a few people who got murdered on the telly instead."
>>27293760We must build.
>>27293760The fact that Jameson is actually asking Spider-Man to do this says a lot about his views on things. Also, I think Peter should be able to put together the fact that this is not Hobgoblin. He knows for the moment Hobby is after Peter himself. This is someone new.
>>27293760Let's make excuses and turn in early, so we can go take a look at the crime scene or talk to Jameson.
>>27293760Longs I laughed at this >>27293796 It does have a point. There's no words for what we just witnessed. Either we head down stairs and build or... we can hit up the police station to see 'Commissioner Gordon' as Spider-Man.
>>27293760Make a point of being horrified by the carnage. Make excuses to Aunt May and get to work on Spider-Stuff.
>>27293760We now have two priorities. 1) get to work on our suit upgrade. 2) contact Eddie Brock or JJJ as spiderman and ask to share information with them. By that I mean tell them the full contents of our run in with the HobGoblin, the fact that he implied that he had a single target and the fact that he left us alive because he had no interest in "Spider-man" at the time. Seriously, if he wanted we'd be dead, so something here isn't adding up. Still, we need to do anything we can to help resolve this as quickly as possible, so get any information they have and put it to use.
>>27293718That spider team would be actually pretty great.Or fuck it, just make it a Spider book that does team ups and switches around the main character every once in awhile. Spiders around the world.
>>27293807He threw a bomb into a room full of kids just to get petey. We don't know if this isn't some deranged way to drag out spiderman for some petty revenge.
>>27293760"...Do you think he put the kidney there as a full-stop, or do you think it just... Plopped there?"Excuse ourselves, go down in the basement, freak out.
>>27293822Hmmm. That's not a bad idea either.
>>27293850He mentioned he wanted his target dead first, then he'd go after Spider-Man. I think we could piece this together.
>>27293760>Actions?Let Aunt May cry on Peter's shoulder, re-assure her that we'll be extra careful. Maybe give Uncle Ben a call if he's working the late shift again.>>27293834Supporting this action if we're going Spider-man afterwards.
>>27293863Well either way we should go after him.
>>27293785don't forget the genocides, eather way lets get working on our Science
I think Peter's smart enough to realize that Hobbie might not actually be involved in this massacre. Hobgoblin's involvement in the massacre is hearsay at best, and he said before that he didn't really have any interest in Spider-Man.We should talk to someone at the bugle or the police station, let them know there could be a new player in town.
>>27293863technically, the least thing he said was 'Next time, Spider-man, Next time."
>>27293822>we can hit up the police station to see 'Commissioner Gordon' as Spider-Man.I kinda like the idea of maybe... half-way working with the police. If anything, they could be a source of info... Well if we can get them to trust us or just one person.
>>27293852You. I like you. You have excellent taste in television.
>>27293893True, still if we could tell the break-in of Oscorp didn't fit Black Cat's MO we could probably get the same feeling for Hobby and this.Still, if you think that is being too metay I'll stop.
>>27293893Ah, so we don't really have any reason not to think it was the Hobgoblin at this point.
>>27293881Supporting sending Uncle Ben a text or giving him a quick call to make sure he's ok out there.
>>27293911We have already met and had friendly interaction with a captain on the force.
>>27293822I don't know I figure that this would be the perfect excuse for Spider-Man to stop by Captain Stacy's house. It's an opportune moment where, even if we are caught on tape, it'll make sense for us to be there. The sooner we resolve things with Gwen, the sooner she can help us out.
>>27293940We may as well. Just keep it discrete.
>>27293940A talk. If you can call it that. Really it was more of warning not to cross the line...
>>27293926Only that he had us dead to rights and didn't bother finishing us off. But we could just mention that fact keeps bugging us.
>>27293911"Spider-man" has appeared publicly twice, And there's only like the one photo of us out there. This escalation seems a little extreme, and going to the police is entirely rational.
>>27293953Killing two birds with one stone, I like it. We stop by at Gwen's window and chat with her before going around to George's.
>>27293953>>27293956His neighborhood is being watched and is setting off our Spider-Sense. When we go in there, we need to be prepared for a fight.
>>27293834Yeah, go for this. Even if it doesn't quite seem like Hobby's style (no fire), Peter still wouldn't be completely confident in that. We should assume for now that it's reasonable that Hobgoblin is the perpetrator, and act accordingly.Oh shit, what if Uncle Ben dies while we're busy chasing Hobgoblin? That could still count as an appropriate failing for Peter, if he lets the real killer get away and murder a group that happens to include Uncle Ben while Pete's busy with something else. Yeah, that seems rather likely, actually. Well, damn.
We should talk to captain stacy as spiderman. He might agree to help us in a sting operation or something.
>>27293953Save it for a weekend, in broad daylight. We don't need to be batmanning.
>>27293981It could set off our Spider-Sense because we're Peter Parker and the Phantom of Midtown High hired Hobgoblin to kill Peter Parker.
>>27293981But on the other hand, visiting him in uniform about these events gives us an excuse to check in on Gwen.
>>27294000I figured it being at night might make it easier for us to evade detection. Also guarantees Gwen will be present.
>So the plan of action is?
>>27293953Nice. Changing my vote to this.
>>27293975You know he's not likely to be at home. Most likely at the station working the case considering how bad the crime is. At least, that is my worry.>>27294000Nothing wrong batmanning things.
>>27294037Excuse ourselves for the night, finish our defenses.
>>27293986Would that really be a lesson though?Pretty sure it would just kind of suck.
>>27294037>>27294039You have a point, perhaps go into basement put on mask and call the police station and ask to talk to the Captain.
>>27293986Yeah, but we have to follow the Toa of Responsibility and right now that's assuming that Gobby's gone nuts and targeting him until we have enough evidence to verify that this isn't him. Heck, the cops and Jameson are probably trying to send us on a wild goose chase to keep us from getting in the way of the actual investigation, but we still have to deal with them in good faith because they're the good guys and we don't have enough reason to doubt them yet.
>>27294039True.But I was more thinking it gives us a plausible excuse to show up in the area.I mean if we think the Hobgoblin did this, and the Hobgoblin was hired by Gwen's stalker, then this entire situation just got WAY out of hand.
>>27294039Depends on when we go. Spiderman isn't that much of a daytime person after all. It also makes us seem more discreet.
On an unrelated note we need to think about stealing whatever tech the hobgoblins using. Having a sonic attack will turn Carnage into a kitten
>>27294090It might be a metagenic ability and not technology. And, Cassidy might not have a symbiote.
>>27294037Something along the lines of1) check in on Uncle Ben2) make coffee3) if our burner phone is still clean call someone (Captain Stacy, JJJ or Brock) for information, be careful to keep the call from getting traced4) build a Goblin Resistant Suit.5) get some sleep (let Felicia know we're fine if it looks like we're going to be unconscious until some unreasonable our of the afternoon)
>>27294106>CassidyAre we sure it's Cassidy & not MJ?
>>27294037>re-assure Aunt May>contact Uncle Ben to ask if he's doing alright>head for the basement for material SCIENCE>move out as Spider-man afterwards to make contact with Captain Stacy, Eddie Brock or JJJ.>ask for relevant info on the murderer case>express flimsy concern that the M.O. might not fit how the Hobgoblin operates
>>27294037Seems to be to excuse ourselves and get to work on our gear. And also try not to panic.
>>27294037We need to build our defense to the Goblin. Going to Stacy is going to alert whoever put up those cameras and that's certainly going to mean a fight.
>>27294037>>27294144Agreed. I prefer a face to face with people over calling them.
>>27294090Pretty sure Cassidy is a baseline human at this point. Nothing he's done so far suggests a symbiote to me.
>>27294063Well, think of it this way: Uncle Ben dying because Peter let a criminal get away out of apathy teaches "With great power comes great responsibility". Uncle Ben dying because Peter let a criminal get away because he was chasing after the wrong man teaches "Power must be applied wisely, or it is worthless". We still get a Spider-Man who's driven to help people as much as possible, but now he's motivated not just to drive himself to the edge for the sake of others, but to make sure he never expends his energies uselessly. Every action will benefit people, he'll never let his efforts go to waste. He WILL do better, this time.
>>27294152Why?It could be context-specific to Peter Parker, and not Spider-Man.Though Spider-Man DID foil their hitman...
>>27294176Yeah. Snapping peoples' necks, disemboweling them and staking their remains to a wall requires a lot of strength, but it's within the realm of the humanly possible. Besides, Cassidy doesn't have the subtlety to be a metahuman and go unnoticed. The moment he gets superpowers is the moment he throws caution to the wind and starts doing his killing in public.
>>27294182Interesting. I can kind of see it happening, but I think theirs some value to laying the groundwork of a capture/neutralization operation while performing an ongoing investigation if the stakes are sufficiently high. Given the loss of life we've already seen, I think we've crossed that threshold.
>Excuse yourself>work on defensesYou stagger to your feet and give a look towards your Aunt. “Aunt May, I-I’m going to be downstairs for a while.”She nods. “I’m going to wake up Ben and tell him, so be sure to answer the door if we knock, alright?”You give her a nod and go downstairs, locking the door behind you. You give the basement a look around. You have some materials down here, but you don’t have what you need entirely. You’re able to make a checklist, though, and pocket it in your wallet. Thankfully, your father installed the machines you’d need to produce the mixtures you’ll need, though it might require some finesse work from you near the end. You also have a working respirator and checked to see that the fume hoods were still working. That takes you about and hour. >>27294286Our costume skill isn't high enough, we need to invest more EXP if we want to do that.
>>27294272Fuck, we left our suit...Lets call Felicia. We're kinda in crisis mode here and could use someone to talk to. Plus she can get us our suit
>>27294227Oh, you seem to have misunderstood me. I guess I phrased it poorly. I totally agree with what you're saying. For all Peter knows Hobgoblin is the killer. He fought the guy once, that's not enough to get a sense for his psychology. Just because metagaming tells us Hobby didn't do it doesn't mean we shouldn't go after him. Peter can't read the third-person narration or see the post images. Let's catch the bastard.

>>27294363We can't sneak out. I mean we could, but it'd kill May and Ben. Possibly literally.
>>27294352Hopefully we'll have caught SOMEONE by then, be they Carnage, Hobgoblin, or Hobgoblin's shadowy master.
>>27294329I'd rather leave that be for now since we probably used up too much of our costuming material on the first suit and the fabric store isn't open at this time of night.
>>27294371Yeah unfortunately that's probably a good idea.I guess nothing's REALLY stopping Spider-Man from showing up in broad daylight?
>>27294329>You don't have materials for an agile suit and almost all of your durable costume materials were used up.
>>27294352Crap, we need to plant a camera in that phone boot crevasse either tonight or tomorrow night to avoid the construction crews. Maybe we should get help from Felicia to make sure we don't trip any alarms?
>>27294272Wait, when did we bring the costume over to Felicia's? There was no mention of it in the last thread, and we had it when we were fighting Hobby. I think we left it on the roof of the school, not at her house.
>>27294394Drafting up plans then? We've done it once, we might have a better idea of what we need then.
>>27294390>>27294371Okay, then have her sneak over here. Its not like the master thief wouldn't be able to sneak past two medicare recipients.
>>27294407What construction crews? Thanks to our awesome throwing skills which fortunately no one questioned, we threw that pumpkin bomb so that the school was completely out of the blast radius.
>>27294411we left it at the school for felicia to pick up for us.
>>27294394Ok, well, can we at least make plans for one that we'll make in the future?
>>27294422Eh, we can probably just visit her tomorrow during the day?I mean yeah she CAN but...
>>27294411Oh wait, she picked it up for us. Never mind.
>>27294272call up the cat and explain whats going on
>>27294442We have better things to worry about. Also, winter is coming.Do you really think that now is the time to think about wearing spandex?
>>27294457If anything now is the time for kevlar and tasers. Also we should really do some reflection on the hell we've unleashed and how responsible we are for that whole situation.
>>27294394Out of curiosity, would the anti-sonic liner for the suit also provide protection against other impacts? After all, it's absorbing the shock wave, not just neutralizing the sound. Also, does Pete have any idea how stiff the liner is going to be? We don't want this making the durable suit any more restricting.
>>27294457Hey, just preparing for the other seasons. additionally, in Spectacular Spiderman, Peter bought Thermals and wore them beneath his suit. We could attempt the same thing.
>>27294482Pretty sure that crazy, homicidal maniacs are going to go on killing sprees with or without Spider-man as a motivation or excuse. The fact that we're putting those closest to us in greater danger is something that should weigh on our conscious however.
>>27294482Not very. In character, Hobgoblin is already clearly willing to cause lots of collateral damage, seeing how he threw bombs into a classroom. Out of character, we know Cassidy is a crazy killer who would have just found something else to fixate on if we weren't there. Either way, we're not responsible for the existence of crazy people. What we are responsible for is how long said maniacs stay out there, unpunished and unrestrained.
>>27294482Feel responsible for crazy people being crazy?Since our debut was pretty much tripping Black Cat causing her to be captured for no more than five minutes. That was NOT really the most heroic of debuts.Certainly not anything to obsess over.
>>27294502A new costume is so far down on our list of priorities it's not worth looking at.
>>27294272Gonna go with the people saying to call Felicia
>>27294502Or just take some inspiration from an electric blanket when it comes to winter suit design/modification.
>>27294506>The fact that we're putting those closest to us in greater dangerRegarding the Hobgoblin, I'm pretty sure it's Gwen who is putting US in danger indirectly by virtue of us being close to her.And Carnage is only after Spider-Man so as long as he doesn't know who Spider-Man is, we're not really endangering anyone.
>>27294519Agreed. There's more important things to be worrying about.
I'm seriously thinking Carnage is MJ. Why else is our spider sense always on edge around her
>>27294563...Because she's our childhood tormentor?And/or a filthy mutie? Also she didn't know anyone was watching in that alley. If she were Carnage, you really think she couldn't have iced those fools?
>>27294563Like Peter thought earlier in the quest: Childhood "trauma" acting up and old instincts flaring.>>27294518>>27294510>>27294506I still can't help but feel that Peter would ar least feel PARTIALLY responsible for that whole thing.
>>27294563She's a mutant and sapping the life away from everybody around her. That's why her mom died suddenly.
>>27294594>>27294597But thats not how spider sense works. It goes off when Parker's in danger, not just around an asshole.
>>27294597I guess, but I'd say there would be a considerable amount of bafflement as well.Like vs Black Cat wasn't some struggle between good and evil, it was a game of tag.Unless Eddie Brock really played up our heroism.
>>27294615We instinctively associate MJ with danger, so our Spider Sense is calibrated accordingly the same way it would regard a fire as dangerous. Also it is not the most accurate of sensations.
>>27294654That's what Peter thinks, and I'm not saying we should metagame, but we all know that's not really what's going on there.
>>27294676Do we?And even if you're right thinking that means she's a serial killer with a Southern accent seems to be a ridiculous leap.
>>27294654Actually Spider sense is Precog.
>>27294545While I agree with both these points, I'd like to remind you that the moment our cover as Spider-manis blown we will have endangered our family, and those potential consequences are only going to escalate. That's what I'm talking about there, the fact that there are things we have to do that will make us enemies, powerfull enemies, psychotic enemies...and that one wrong move, one careless conversation or rushed costum change could bring a whole world of trouble down on more than just us. Despite the fact that Pete's got that under control, I think he should feel the weight of the path he's walking.
>>27294700I agree it's unlikely she's Carnage, but our Spider-Sense isn't picking up childhood trauma.
>>27294563Because she has a communicable disease?
>>27294729Maybe in thirty years. Not a bad goal though.
>>27294727Well we won't be able to prove that until Gwen starts talking to us again.
>>27294738What? Aren't we talking about MJ?
>>27294737I meant Nick Fury's number that our parents bequeathed to us.The one to use in the exact situation you mentioned?
>>27294738SPIDER SENSE IS LITERALLY PRECOG, IT DOES NOT GIVE FALSE POSITIVES! AT HIGHER LEVERS IT CAN TELL YOU THE NATURE OF THE THREAT AND HOW DISTANT IT IS!
>>27294755Yes.Gwen, who also has Spider-Sense.So if MJ constantly sets off Gwen's Spider-Sense, then that means that there's something weird about MJ.But we have no reason to even suspect Mary Jane until then.
>>27294756Oh. Right. The old "Trust Nick Fury" gambit. We'll see how that one works out when the time comes.
>>27294729And now I am imagining Peter Parker, director of SHIELD and its fucking awesome. Eyepatch would be optional
>>27294755He's talking about the idea that Gwen tell us if MJ has been setting off her spider-sense. If yes, it's not our trauma, if no it is our trauma.
>>27294763Spider Sense can do lots of things.Like Spider Tracers, how the fuck did we even figure that out? Also this is a new continuity, what makes you so sure how Spider Sense does and doesn't work?
>>27294763Have you ever had a memory trigger your sense of smell? Like you're thinking of your grandmother and suddenly you start "smelling" cookies in the oven or a Thanksgiving's dinner (insert appropriate person/food item or whatever), even though she's been dead a decade now (or in Florida, functionally the same unless you happen to live in Florida)? This is like that. The memories of extensive childhood trauma are being translated into the current senses we posses, so we're feeling a hit of our danger sense whenever she comes near.
did cosgrove die?
>>27294788I think at some point we definitely need to get in touch with SHIELD. Preferably they'll come to us, instead of Peter seeking them out, but any ways of getting in contact with the professionals would be cool. Imagine what we could do with actual training. I remember we joked about Spider-Operator a while back. We could be that. Also, it would open us up to meeting the other supers of the Marvel world. Think about how cool it would be if we got to meet Captain America. Even better, think about how cool it would be if we were trained by Captain America.
>>27294901Think of how not cool it would be if we got to meet Ultimate Captain America.
>>27294901I want to hold off on that. If that happens, they'll try to rope us into being a hero, I'm sure. There's no real reason for us to dedicate ourselves to that. Save Fury and SHIELD for if we get found out, so that Uncle Ben and Aunt May can get relocated.
>>27294887He never was alive to begin with.
>>27294923Ultimate Captain America is a cool guy, go eat a dick libtard.
>>27294864I haven't ever had that happen, actually. That sounds really weird.
>>27294887cosgrove is kill
>>27294518>Certainly not anything to obsess over. It's not what we did, but what we had the gall to do. in this timeline, we're the FIRST. We're the first modern marvel to put on a brightly colored suit of pajamas and go out in public openly declaring that we're doing good deeds. Like it or not, that paints a bullseye on us. We become a public figure. And that means the lunatic fringe will fixate on us.
>>27294603so she's this timeline's Omega Red? Interesting.
>>27294972>openly declaring that we're doing good deedsThe only thing we declared is that we really wanted two thousand dollars, and proceeded to do the bare minimum necessary to make it.
>>27294923Touche. Hopefully we'll get a Jack Kirby Cap, not a Mark Millar Cap. Ultimate Captain America is just so counter to the point of the character I don't know how they could write him that way.>>27294925I'm mostly thinking of something like in the Ultimate continuity, where SHIELD knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man because of course they do. He's a teenager and they're the best intelligence agency on the planet. It's not hard for them to figure out. And then they realize "Hey, this kid has probably the best set of powers for special operations. Enhanced reflexes and precognition? YES. Oh shit, he's the child of two of our field agents? Wow, he couldn't be a better asset if he tried. Okay, let's see if we can recruit him. Kid's been doing the whole superhero thing, we can probably hook him on the 'greater good' angle."
>>27295044Yeah, and then they failed to offer him any meaningful training, intelligence or resources and slowly burned their bridges with Peter, mostly through incompetence. We'll see how it goes this time.
>>27294864... Why doesn't flash thompson constantly ping spider sense then?
>>27295013We did defend a school from a supervillain. That's pretty heroic. Though Cassidy developed his fixation on Spider-Man before then, when we were just a news oddity. So that's probably just a sign of Cassidy's instability rather than our noteworthiness. Though he did do this murder-taunt after we fought Hobgoblin, which does bring us back on the radar, firmly placed as a superhero. Hell, the murders were probably just out of jealousy. "I wait two weeks for Spider-Man to show up and when he finally does he's fighting some other insane murderer? That slut."
>>27295079Because he was an irritant who didn't really traumatize us.
>>27295079Because his was recent trauma (we haven't obsessed over it for yesrs) and we know that he's on our side now (more or less).
>>27295102>We did defend a school from a supervillain.Well... we tried I guess. In practice I guess we stalled Hobgoblin until he realized he left the stove on or something?
>>27294272So I think we decided to give Felicia a call and then just go to bed?
>>27295107now three assumptions are required for your argument.>Spider sense can give false positives>MJ traumatised Peter more than flash>a sense can be pavlovian conditioned before you even have it.
>>27295144>MJ traumatised Peter more than FlashThat's not an assumption at all. That was clearly stated by Cosgrove.
>>27295144>>27295157I'm still holding my money on the fact that she has a strain of Venom in her.
>>27295157No response for the others?
>>27295123Look, we gave him enough trouble that he would rather leave than stick around and risk fighting us. That's a win. We got rid of him, and we looked cool in the process, and that's good enough for now. We're at the start of our career, we have to take our victories where we can. If we were going by canon we'd get a chance to grind XP on thugs and mobsters before we fought anyone else super-powered. But we're not, so we get dropped straight into fighting modern super-deadly Hobgoblin. We did pretty good, all things considered.
>>27295166We have no idea what Spider Sense can and can't do.I mean it doesn't notice clones or symbiotes because it considers them Peter Parker. Is it really hard to imagine that the reverse is possible as well?
>>27295190...What?something doesn't ping on something it recognizes as you therefore it constantly identifies someone you have a bad history with as a threat?
>>27295162Sure. Currently our spider-sense alerts us to immediate danger, not just someone that doesn't like us very much. Flash only set it off when he decided to hit us, the bomb only set it off once Gobby decided to throw it, Felicia when she decided to trip us. MJ sets it off constantly but has never personally tried to inflict harm on us. Thus our spider-sense is selectively broken around her.
>>27295221Yes. Our spider sense is essentially allergic to MJ.
>>27295221I'm saying that we have no in-character reason to suspect MJ of anything, and even out-of-character it seems pretty unlikely that it's something she's doing consciously.Like I bet if we snuck into her room and watched her sleep, our spider sense would STILL be going off.
>>27295234But Hobgoblin constantly set it off when he was circling us in the sky. It's how we knew to bring our costume.
>>27295234Or there's something specifically dangerous about her that we don't know about. Surgically implanted bomb? Dangerous virus? Genetically infused with spider-eating-wasp DNA? We don't know. No use in speculating until we have more info. Especially since it gives the QM ideas and exposes any potential countermeasures we come up with, giving him weeks or months to plan counter-countermeasures. Just keep quiet, wait, and see.
>>27295271If that was Hobbie stalking us. Still no evidence.
>>27295283>Genetically infused with spider-eating-wasp DNA?It is far too soon for Shathra.
>>27295251That doesn't mean she isn't inherently dangerous from some radioactive or chemical standpoint. Really, we don't have enough data to judge anything about her one way or the other. She's a complete anomaly, and we don't know enough about the spider sense to adjust for her. Which is why I really want this Hobgoblin business over with so we can talk to Gwen again and get her perspective on this. Science needs peer review, damn it.
>>27295293It was coming from the sky.You really think it was coincidental? How?
>>27295283Guys, Guys, I know how to solve this problem. First, we find a Time Machine. Shouldn't be too hard, Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Tony Stark and SHIELD all poop the damn things out so often, they've probably started throwing them away because "Fuck, I've already got a million Time Machines."Then, we go back in time, and find MJ. Then we tell her to stop being a dick to Peter, or we'll summon the Spiders. Then we come back to the present, and everything's fixed.
>>27295298Too soon for hobgoblin and Cletus too.
Ah well, time for time to turn in for the night. Take it easy Cos and crew, hopefully I'll see you guys soon.
okay, its been over an hour. I'm giving up on cosgrove tonight.G'night fellas
>>27295319Shathra needs more set-up. Spider-Man encountering her was directly dependent on something that only Spider-Man could have done.
>>27295303Flying, yes. But Goblins aren't the only fliers in Spidey's rogue's gallery. It COULD be Hobbie. It could be an early Vulture. It could be another webslinger. It's possible that Smythe and company know the effects of the spiders and have already used them under controlled conditions. I have a hard time beleiving that the effect it had on us is completely unknown to Smythe, given his instructions regarding anyone bitten.>>27295298Too soon for most of it. But it may not be Shathra. One version of the Scorpion used a biogenic process similar to what granted Peter his powers. It's possible Smythe or someone else has already experimented with Wasps or other insects. There are a few wasp-themed villains in main continuity, IIRC.
Alright guys, its time to invoke the summoning ritual!... what was the Cosgrove summoning ritual again?
>>27295353Cosgrove? This can't be happening! Cosgrove! COSGROOOOOOOOOOVE!
>>27295364But we noticed the presence followed us to school, and then hovered over the school, and then the Hobgoblin attacked.I mean I guess it could be coincidental or a lookout for Hobgoblin, but it seems unnecessarily complicated.
Rolled 1>>27295365Critical Failure?
>>27295372Sorry- fell asleep at my keyboard - I'll continue when I get up if its here
I know we're over 100 posts past the autosage mark, but I've already put off sleep for 3 hours. Don't abandon us now, Cosgrove!
>>27295396I kind of wish that didn't work...
>>27295396>>27295402Well, it worked, kinda.
>>27295402>Page 7>in autosage>being here when you come back
Well since we're in autosage I guess thats it for Peter Parker quest for todayAnother time everyone
PETER PARKER QUEST 18 POSTPONED!
>>27295365>>27295396>>27295402Hrm, its not cute like the Decu ritual, but its undoubtedly effective.Do you think rolling the 1 on the first try is necessary for it to work, or can we keep trying until we hit the magic number? Further testing is required.
It's archived.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/27289472/Until next time then.
>>27295543Decu ritual? The only other summoning rite I know of is that of Diarca.
>>27295660The summoning ritual for Deculture of Magical Girl Noir Quest.
>>27295660It is a 5 post ritual consisting of the following posts:NYAN NYANNYAN NYANNIHAO NYANGLORIOUSDELICIOUSDECULTURE!Each must be linked to the last, and the ritual shall fail if anyone accidentally repeats a post and breaks the chain. Some have speculated that adding ONE JOB can salvage a failed ritual, but I remain unconvinced.
>>27295693*6 posts, excuse me. I miscounted, since the first two are identical, and I am very very tired.
>>27295693Wasn't there one of those made with 'ONE JOB' in it.
>>27295742I think so, but I didn't save it sadly....now I have to archive dive to sate my curiosity.
>>27295763Good luck. And post here when you find it.
>>27295774Hah, found it! And I only had to search like 20 threads!
>>27295848Job well done.
Well threads dead. But here the plan.>Buy another disposable cellphone. One that can take a hit.> web over the cell like padding> slingshot the cell into the Stacy's back yard from outside the surveillance net.> call the stacy house from a pay phone in a different part of the city, one that CAN'T be seen from traffic cams or the like.> instruct whichever stacy answers to look in thier back yard.We need to talk to the captain about the murders and gwen about her stalker.
>>27295868What if the house is bugged, rather than the phone lines?
Screencapped for posterity.
Good morning, it appears we did science, performed an arcane ritual, and then got angry about murder in our name. Are we so jade already to respond in kind with lethal force? Are we aware of the abyss we stand over? We put on the mask for our wish to help our family and to fulfil a youthful sense of ADVENTURE, possibly SCIENCE ADVENTURE! Now this...no, we can't get emotional. If we get emotional we'll get sloppy. A spider can't work without precision.>>27296318And so it was in the darkness before dawn you will form a circle in the real world or a line upon the world of binary lightning. Intone the name of he who begets criticals thrice and roll the die of twenty sides. Should you roll 1 against the incantation of Kubo than you will rouse the sleeping Cosgrove from his Slumber.Ia Ia Cosgrove Ftaghn>captcha: 20 and then a string of other numbers that are unimportant.
