Welcome back to Desert Island Maid Quest.

When we last left off our mission to find Bunny was sidetracked by a crashed chunk of space hulk landing in the bay. We upgraded our rifle to an energy weapon and set off into the water with Yuriko. What awaits inside...

When we last left off...

You give Yuriko a nod. She quickly removes the beam emitter from the flashlight housing and affixes the assembly to the underside of the SAR using some form of super sciencey, future tech, unfathomable adhesive material (its duct-tape) and connects the trigger wires to the SAR's trigger. You laugh, wondering how much damage a stupid flashlight can do. You aim it out the window and point it at the cliff-face 50 feet away. You pull the trigger and watch a thin red beam erupt from the SAR and blow a fist wide, foot deep hole into the rock. Okay maybe it wasn't just a stupid flashlight. Yuriko and you quickly throw on your diving gear and charge into the rough waves. The shockwave from the crash has made it to the shore resulting in 5 foot swells. Tracy and Evelin hurry about making stretchers for any wounded you bring back. The waves buffet you as you trudge into the water, but their force smooths out as you kick down beneath the waves and make your way to the sunken space hulk.

The bay is fairly shallow, no more than 10-15 meters deep. The water is slightly cloudy from the sediment kicked up by the crashing ship, but the currents are quickly clearing it out to sea. You kick along, Yuriko in tow making your way to the hulk.

You keep swimming. The ship seemed closer from the shore, but you aren't too deep. Plenty of air left and still in no-deco. A coral wall looms in front of you, the local seabed displaced by the ship. A faint blue glow suffuses from the rock ahead. You motion to Yuriko to head in. She pause, taps a little display on her wrist and nods her head. Its safe so far.

You glide through the rock into a large open plain. A reef shark slides into view, disturbed by the impact to its home. It swims close enough to take a brief taste of your scent and quickly takes off after finding you too interesting to be safe. The ship lies in the opposite direction and the two of you head towards the wreck.

The two of you find the ship, at least what is left of it. It looks like a rather large section of a ship that had been torn free and cast into the depths of the ocean. All exposed compartments have been flooded and the hulk as come to rest on the ocean floor. An exposed hatch lies near the bottom, about 25m deep. You and Yuriko slowly descend down to the glowing hatch. A flickering shield bubble is keeping the sea water out of the exposed door. You reach your hand in and feel air. not wanting to miss an opportunity the two of you slip inside. Yuriko waves her wrist about, a small screen projecting about it. The bulkhead behind you seals off the ocean. You are inside.

Yuriko motions to her wrist. A map of exposed areas is projected in front of you. Little warnings appear and disappear. Yuriko says she can't detect what it is but to be careful. You appear to be in the access corridor for an escape pod.

Head into mess hall, I suppose, but we should first establish with Yuriko our objectives. A short of mission briefing.

1. Locate and rescue any and all survivors.
2. Ensure that whatever hostiles are aboard this ship do not reach shore.
3. If we are supremely lucky that this ship is advanced enough and relatively undamaged, recover whatever parts Yuriko might need to rebuild her own ship.

If Yuriko wishes to add anything, she may. She's obviously more knowledgeable in this area.

You let Yuriko continue her analysis on the pod corridor electronics, though she doesn't think there is anything more she can determine. A pod was launched before impact, but the door malfunctioned. You have since repaired it. You take a moment to glance out the window. A lobster waves to you.

>>27335104
You break down the game plan with Yuriko. She agrees. The tech shes seen so far is on par with her own, though she thinks the ship is heavily damaged, there are anomalous energy readings everywhere. She cautions you to tread carefully.

You drudge up the corridor into the cafeteria. The sight is gristly. All the walls are rusted, the food wet and rotten. Three corpses sit around the table. They appear to be soldiers based on their uniform and their side arms. An empty bottle lays on the table, cigar ash is piled in the lap of one soldier. Two are dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. The other looks unharmed. Yuriko scans them. "Old age" she says puzzled. You hear a low groan and some ominous thuds from elsewhere in the ship. There doesn't appear to be anything in this room other than corpses. Every console looks like rusted out a long time ago.

What now?

This room looks like the corridor before it but everything is rusted to hell. Almost as if someone left this room out in the rain, for a few decades. Yuriko scans around but can offer nothing more.
>>
Well then, I'd say Command Hub is where I'd go next, so as head to medbay. Barracks smells like an enemy room. Touch no buttons, though, unless Yuriko knows what they do.

You don't want to stick around in this room much longer than you already have. You head north, taking some effort to wrench open the long rusted hatch. The corridor is in much better shape than the mess hall. The bulkheads look like they came right off the assembly line this morning, though the lights are out. The darkened hall is pierced by the light streaming out from command center, the open hatchway giving you a view into command. You both head towards the room, the bright light partially blinding you. You step into command, only to step back into the messhall from the escape pod door.

What the hell?
>>

Try it again, except this time one of us go thru. Lets see if the other can see if something is happening when the other tries to pass thru
>>
>>27335793
You tell Yuriko to watch you as you try to navigate the hallway. Again you walk towards the command deck and try to shield your eyes from the harsh light. You make it to the threshold and glance back, Yuriko waves from the cafeteria. Your foot crosses the threshold and a subtle flash causes you to blink for but a moment. Your foot lands, stepping instead into the mess hall behind Yuriko. She jumps and turns to you. "You make it in then disappear! Strange."

Looks like some strange shit is going on.

What do you do?
>>
>>27335893

Frustrated you grab the bottle off of the table and toss it into the hallway. The bottle sails into the open door way and promptly smacks you in the back of the head. Seems like that hallway is one way only. You resolve to enter into the barracks. The hatch opens with groaning hiss, opening to another pristine hallway. You and Yuriko slowly lurk forward into the barracks. The barracks hatch opens to rows of bunks. The beds are in disarray, blankets and pillows are scattered on the floor. You stoop to look under one of the books as a small coffee cup crashes into the wall above you. A small orb of crackling fire drifts about the room menacingly.

Several items, a small pda, a bolt, two books and a pillow begin to levitate around you and Yuriko.

You were ready for an attack.

The move is yours
>>
>>27336190
Go back to back with Yuriko. Slowly move ever so carefully over to the armory. As you do so, talk aloud and see if you can get a response if something is causing the items to float around you.

You calmly tell Yuriko to get back to back with you. She obliges, her shoulder cannon starting to hum. Water condenses on its surface as it cools down. You aren't sure what it's intention is but you want to get out of there and into the armory. The light almost seems to ignore you, but a paint can you didn't see does. The can flies at your head!

Okay then. 6XP spent.

Yuriko, despite almost sticking the barrel around the floating ball, her shots miss. In frustration she pumps out a few more shots. The ceiling is almost completely covered in ice almost an inch thick. The little ball of fire is unfazed and continues to drift menacingly around. The door behind you opens with a hiss. The two of you continue to stare at the floating trash when a hand grabs you from behind and drags you both into the armory."Come in" a muffled voice says. You look back and see a blonde woman, decked head to toe in armor and weapons. "Don't just stand there." Yuriko is already tumbling backwards into the armory. Her hand grabs your collar and yanks you in just as the bulkhead slams shut. Several loud bangs resound off the door. The operator stands infront of you, a pristine Vintorez muzzle presses against your head. The gas mask around her face muffles her breathing. A soft erratic clicking noise is coming from her belt. "Who are you?"

Well, who are you Chosen one?

NOW!

11xp spent

You've fucking had it with this little shit of a mutant. You charge the little floating ball and jam your barrel into it. You feel a moment of resistance and you pull the trigger. There is a scream and a flash as your SAR dumps an ungodly amount of kilojoules into it's chest. Meaty chunks spray across the wall and the levitating objects collapse, inert once again.

+30 Xp for killing the mutant.

9 damage / 1 willpower = 9-2 = 7 Damage
(Poltergeists are psychic entities )

7-1 = -6 HP

You cheer, but remember Yuriko's state. The door opens up and Yuriko crawls out simply bloodstained. The wound on her head is healed completely and she is chatting with Ava over the strange object in her hands. "Is artifact. You shoot mutant, you jump anomaly and get prize. Usually shit so you sell to suka ecologist for ruble, but this one not shit, so I save." Ava looks at you. We go to anomaly generator now. Have to go through room to north. Other route blocked."

Anything to say or do before we move on?
>>
>>27338986
Are we the ones who got damaged?
>>
>>27338986
no you killed the shit out of the poltergeist.

Here is where you stand stat wise.

Ava - 40HP 0MP
You - 20HP 0MP
Yuriko - 20HP 10MP
>>
>>27338986
Get to the Medbay to heal up Yuriko some more.
>>
>>27339056
Shes at max, but the medbay is where you are heading.
>>
>>27338986
Pray to any god to please help us out cause shit need some help with luck tonight
>>
>>27339046
Okay, then tell Yuriko we're glad she's okay and then carefully head on over to medbay. Ask Ava if she has a good eye for bloodsuckers, because I suspect we'll see those soon.
>>
>>27338986
Pick up some of the debris around here so that we can use them as a stand-in for bolts.
When we get to medbay, look in from the doorway, and throw in some debris to check for anomalies.
>>
>>27339212
That's a very good idea.

You take a knee and whisper a prayer to the only god that matters. You feel a mighty hand rest upon your shoulder. A deep voice whispers in your ear. "The Emperor protects, but good fucking luck." You feel empowered.

>>27339144
Ava laughs. "With your shooting, if bloodsucker we have, you would be dead already. Such is life in zone."

>>27339212
The three of you head north in to the hallway leading to the Medbay. The walls are covered in soot and there are many charred bodies lining the walls. Ava makes a sound, but you are already casting a bolt into the dark. A jet of flame erupts, scorching the wall for a few moments before stopping. You can make out little shimmering bubbles drifting around. You could make your around them if you are careful but if you had just blundered in. "We make stalker out of you yet. Okay then, you first rookie and don't touch them." Ava insists. The next 15 minutes are harrowing as you each deftly navigate the burners. You all reach the end of the hallway and open the medbay hatch. the bubbles do not follow you in. You turn and are greeted with a carnival of surgical delights. There is blood everywhere. It is pooled an inch deep on the floor, its dripping from every vent and crevice, the blood is flowing up the walls and congealing in mid air. Everywhere are bodies, well at least parts of bodies. They appear to have been half gnawed on and half precisely vivisected. Yuriko vomits while Ava looks troubled. "Is not just mutant on board?" she asks. You don't know. Ava taps her detector." No anomalies here, we move on?"

Just because there are no anomalies, doesn't mean that it doesn't pay to throw some bolts in.

Then check real quick and then go on.

>"Not just mutant on board"

"You saw those three guys in the cafeteria? Someone or something got on board and drove everyone nuts. Maybe it got into their heads, maybe it got into their bodies. Either way, it's better not to touch anything, or linger to long."

You hunt around room looking for anything of use. When you duck under a table a soft rustling sound comes out of a pile of blood stained papers and something shoots out towards the air duct by Ava's feet. "GRAB IT!" you scream on impulse. Ava lunges towards the wriggling thing with her knife!

Eva's knife misses the thing by inches, but it pins the creature against the floor. It twitches for a few seconds, but suddenly dies. It looks like a severed tongue but not a human one. You search through the papers it crawled out of. One catches your eye. All it says is "Fig 1: Ovipositor. You toss some bolts around to see if anything jumps, but all that is in here seems to be corpses.

Oh god, why IslandMaid? Why?

"I'd know that shit anywhere. This place has goddamn genestealers."

I'm tempted to have Yuriko check Ava for cuts, but we can do that on the beach. We must make a note of it, though.
>>
>>27339680
It's a space hulk. What did you expect. Rainbows and loli-pops?
>>
>>27339699
don't forget sunshine and bunnies!
>>
>>27339699

"I'd know that shit anywhere. This place has goddamn genestealers." Ava looks at you funny. "Is mutant, I kill. What is problem?" She punctuates this by stomping on the alien organ with her boot, green blood oozes out. You think to check Ava for filthy xeno corruption but judging how fast she stomped the ovipositor you think she's clean.

Do you move on or press the issue?
>>
>>27339821
move on for now but have her checked out after we get out
>>
>>27339821
Press the issue, by informing her WHAT a genestealer is and their dangers.
"Yeah, it's a mutant, but very dangerous. Think of something that's as fast and strong as a bloodsucker, but has the smarts and mind control of a Controller. And it can infect you with parasites. So don't get caught."

Then move on.
>>
>>27339821
"It's worse than a mutant, Ava. You better hope you never get touched by that tongue. Trust me."

Should we have Yuriko carefully bag/bottle the tongue with a pair of forceps? Might help her work on a cure if Ava ain't so lucky. Or if we ain't so lucky.
>>
>>27339981
You grasp her by the shoulders. "Yeah, it's a mutant, but very dangerous. Think of something that's as fast and strong as a bloodsucker, but has the smarts and mind control of a Controller. And it can infect you with parasites. So don't get caught." She pauses for a moment, considering what you said. "So... its like bandit, but smarter. Okay. I don't want pregnancy yet ha ha."

"Bandit in armor or bandit with coat. Still suka with uvas melankie Pisune." She makes a gesture with her fingers showing a small distance. "Either way I shoot or die." She looks unfazed. You figure she is made of sterner stuff than a normal woman. She is a STALKER. What is the horror of one land compared to the horror of another.

You call over Yuriko to tag and bag the piece of Genestealer tongue. She finds an undamaged bio-hazard containment vessel and using some very long tongs she puts the specimen inside, taking care not to get fluid on anything.

The three of you head into the command center to find it relatively undamaged. There are only a few blood stains scattered about but the consoles are still working. Yuriko quickly sets about tapping away. You can't make heads or tails of what is displayed, but there is an awful amount of red. After some time she stands up. "Ship shield inverted. Pockets of energy trapped within ship. Cause anomaly. Have to travel to generator and shut down there." There is a diagram projects on the central display. "Gellar Field Device Malfunction. Contact Adeptus Mechanicus." flashes in bright red colors. Ava scoffs, "technology and scientists. I told you. We go to anomaly generator and break it." She shakes a rather strangely shaped red can in your face. Yuriko chimes in. "Anything else with ship?" she asks.

Anything more to do in the command center?
>>
>>27340385
Any internal security systems?
Have Yuriko download the ship's log and any information from its databanks onto her PDA.
Then check the power system going to the generator; is there a fuel system that she can shut down, or an emergency core ejection mechanism she can trigger from here?
>>
>>27340461
Agreeing.
Whatever the answer, next place is Gellar Field Generator, which will probably close us for the night.

You ask Yuriko if she can pull up any more information on the ship, its logs and information on cutting power to the field remotely or on site. She greedily taps away at the data slate. You do your best to cut through her broken english as she rattles of information.

The ship is missing almost the entirety of its log. From what Yuriko can piece together the ship was drifting along when something caused its shield to invert trapping large sections of warp within its confines and tearing the ship to pieces. This section of the rather small hulk survived as it was closest to the generator. The little pockets of anomalies are those trapped bits of warp energy. The ship drifted until something pulled it near Earth, it exited into normal space and it crashed into the ocean.

The field generator needs to be shut down manually by spinning down its reactor. The process is straight forward once you cut through the pages and pages of machine spirit bullshit. You eject the 4 control rods and pump out the fuel. You could do it from this console but something has shut off the control paths from the core itself.

As you are speaking with Yuriko you hear a muffled snarl like a lion behind you as something heavy collides with your back. A gas mask tube slaps against your neck as strong fingers grasp your neck. "SNORK!" Ava shouts....

And that is where we will leave it.
I had something come up so saturday will have to be moved. I will run this either Sunday afternoon or again on Tuesday
Thanks for playing!
