Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

Last time left off, Wraith Team, with Hudson and his Emmerian "advisors", were out to check out and destroy a rather large rebel base hidden in the jungles of San Salvacion. However, not wanting to go in blind, you all decided to send in a small scout team to reconnoiter the area first.

In addition to Hudson's team, Wraith Team decided to send in Lucina, Morgan, and Sparky with them as support.

So now it's time for another ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL session! Pick your character!

>Lucina, the silent and deadly team scout.
>Morgan, an up and coming sniper, trained by the best.
>Sparky, on of the team lancers and unofficial demoman.

>ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL

You are MARISA NICOLAU, aka SPARKY, one of Wraith Team's two Lancers as well as their unofficial demogirl. Currently, you're with Lucina, Morgan, and these crazy Emmerian guys creeping through a dark jungle.

Well, the Emmerians weren't too bad. However, Hudson seemed to be the really stuffy type, Mason was pretty silent most of the time, Woods was actually a pretty salty guy, and he reminded you a bit of Uncle Vinnie. Chequita though, just creeped you out. She seemed like a psycho version of Lucina, which was an infinitely terrifying thought.

After a few minutes of traversing through the jungle, you suddenly become acutely aware of Chequita standing very, VERY close to you.

"Hey there~." Chequita cooes with that creepy smile of hers. "I've a got a little question for you."

"Yeah?" You respond, your grip tightening on your lance.

"That kid in your squad, think and lanky with that fluffy brown hair? Umm.... Lucas, was it?"

"What about him?" You frown.

"You know if he has any girlfriends are anything?" Chequita whispers to you conspiratorially.

>Oh yeah, lots. More than he knows what to do with.
>I honestly can't say.

"Oh yeah, he's got lots." You say, bobbing your head to get the point across. "Like, way more than he knows what to do with. I don't think he'd have time to fit you into his schedule."

"Awwww, really?" And in a split second, Chequita's expression turns from creepy slasher smile to pouting child. "Such a cute guy to..."

"Ah, don't mind her." Woods grumbles. "Chequita's just got a taste for younger men. Just ignore her."

"Meanie!" Chequita kicks Woods in the back, getting rewarded with a loud, rich curse from him.

"Settle down!" Hudson hisses. "We're on recon! Act like it!"

After another minute, you find Chequita has snuck up to you yet again. Why you? Then you realize that Lucina and Morgan are probably sneakier than you are, so they could avoid her better. Damn, what happened to sticking together?

"What about that white haired kid?" Chequita asks, her manic grin reforming."

"Aw, and here I thought you'd be more fun than Tarin Jr. and little miss Whitefeather there." Chequita sighs. "Guess I'll just have to pass the time by stabbing someone!"

With that, Chequita picks up her pace moves up to the front of the group. Thank god, you think. Lucas already had enough girl problems, what with probably three or four girls in your squad possibly vying for his attention, whether they knew it or not. And Edwin? There was only one girl allowed to make his life utterly miserable and that was gonna be YOU!

"She's really... up front, isn't she?" Morgan mutters.

"I really fear for Lucas' life now." You nod.

"But she's good." Lucina shifts her way to you and Morgan. "It's obvious she learned from my mother."

"So, what do you guys think about Hudson and his group?" You whisper to your teammates. "I think they're pretty cool guys, with the exception of Chequita. She's pretty damn creepy."

"Erm, Simo's always warned me not to trust guys like those." Morgan frowns.

"Seriously, Morgan, it's always 'Simo this' and 'Simo that'. What do YOU think about them?" You sigh.

"Ah, well..." Morgan stammers as she tries to regain her train of thought. "I'm kinda jealous of them, actually. They seem very confident in their own abilities..."

"Ah, you'd get the same confidence if you could survive out here for three years!" You chortle. "What about you, Lucina?"

"Very professional. Very dangerous." Lucina says. "I'd rather keep them as friends rather than enemies."

Of course. Straight and to the point. You wonder if Lucina ever thought about trying to be we, well, HUMAN at some point.

"Hold up." Hudson raises his hand to signal you to halt. "Tangos up ahead."

You kneel down and squint in the darkness, and you can just barely make out a hastily camouflaged MG emplacement, being crewed by three rebels.

"We need to get past that." Hudson says. "Suggestions?"

"Let's do this silently." Hudson hisses. "Morgan, is that rifle suppressed?"

"Yeah." Morgan nods.

"Okay, here's what we do." Hudson continues. "Morgan starts off with the opening shot. Mason, Chequita, and Lucina will go in and take out anybody left. Me, Woods, and Sparky stay back as support. Got it?"

Everybody nods to affirm their roles.

"Good. Go."

Morgan quietly twists the suppressor onto the barrel of her .338 rifle while Lucina, Mason, and Chequita meld into the forest. Meanwhile, you arm and load a frag round into your lance.

Then you hear a muffled puff as Morgan takes the opening shot.

Morgan's round doesn't seem to hit anybody, but it hits one of the wooden posts supporting the nest's camo netting with a loud THUNK. The crew instinctively whips around to check out the source of the noise, giving Lucina, Mason, and Chequita the opening they need.

Literally only seconds pass and the deed is done. A quick strobe of a flashlight signifies that everything is clear.

The rest of the team moves up and it's now that you can get a good look at the scouts' grisly work. Two of the bodies had cleanly slit throats, while the third looked like he took several seconds to die rather than being killed instantly. No guesses whose victim that was.

"Ahhh, I needed a refresher like that." Chequita giggles, her smile thankfully lost in the darkness.

And, of course, your thief's instinct kicks in and you begin rifling through the bodies for anything valuable. It was mostly involuntary, and you find yourself a bit disgusted at your macabre act. However, you do find something of importance. One of the rebels, a girl, was wearing a radio headset. You trace the connected wire to a small radio set at the foot of the nest.

"Shit, Hudson, we got a problem." You breathe. "These guys are in radio contact with the others. If they miss a check in, there's going to be trouble."

"Well, we'll just have to work fast." Hudson says. "Now we-"

Suddenly, the radio crackles to life.

"Outpost Three, Outpost Three, do your read? What is your condition?"

All of you look blankly at each other. What do you do?

Men, all this stuff you've heard about Gallia not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of horse dung. Gallians, traditionally, love to fight. All real Gallians love the sting of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooters, the fastest runners, big league ball players, the toughest boxers. Gallians love a winner, and will not tolerate a loser. Gallians play to win all the time. I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That's why Gallians have never lost and will never lose a war, because the very thought of losing is hateful to Gallians.

"All right. Get that malfunction fixed then." The voice responds, though he doesn't quite sound convinced. "Carry on."

"It won't be long until they check in again or send someone to confirm." Hudson says. "Let's go."

You all hustle past the neutralized MG nest and finally come to a clearing. Well, a really BIG clearing.

"This isn't natural." Mason says, a bit confused. "This clearing was artificially created."

"I wonder who?" Woods spits.

Sure enough, you can see vehicles and people moving about in the clearing. You squint your eyes more and then it suddenly becomes clear. You've reached the main rebel camp. The clearing is chock full of tents and temporary buildings, but those only took up about a quarter of the clearing. What was all the extra space for?

"Oh shit." Hudson gasps. All of you turn to where he's looking and you see it, too.

Planes. Lots of them.

"Those are fuckin' Longswords!" Woods curses. "Top of the line Imp equipment! Not the second hand crap they're supposed to have!"

"It looks like our man on the inside was right on the money." Hudson sighs. "This is bad. Vitoze is going to get clobbered if we let this attack go off."

"Maybe we should just call in everybody and attack now." Morgan suggests.

"Yeah, we can do that, but the moment we do, they'll start launching the planes. No guarantee we can get them all." Mason points out. "There's got to be at least two or three squadrons."

"We can try calling in fighters from the Kestrel." Lucina adds in.

"Or we can just roll and sneak and stab and sabotage!" Chequita giggles.

"Still, that's a lot of flat ground to cover, and a lot of people that can spot us." Hudson frowns. "Call in Simo and the others, but tell them to hold back a bit. Get ready to come in when things go south."

"Well, I think I got a distraction in mind." You grin as you point to numerous fuel trucks idling at various points of the airfield. "I think popping a couple of those will give them something to think about."

Unfortunately, traveling around the edge of the clearing takes a lot longer than you thought it would. Even though you're well inside the rebels' patrol routes, you had to be careful not to give yourself away while at the same time navigating the rough terrain.

"How much time do we have left?" You pant.

"Barely an hour." Hudson scowls.

Then, you start to hear the planes engines' rumbling. That wasn't good, since that meant they were starting to warm up the engines in preparation for launch.

"Okay, we gotta do this fast." Hudson hisses. "Sparky, Morgan, you two stay here and provide fire support. The rest of us are going to push in and try to sabotage the planes. This is important, people. At the first sign of trouble, set up the distraction play and cover our extract. You got it?"

"Yeah." You and Morgan nod.

With that, you and Morgan set up a small firing position on the edge of the clearing, among a thick knot of trees to make it hard for you to be spotted.

"Hey, Morgan, are you okay?" You ask.

"Why are you asking that?" Morgan blinks.

"Your hands are shaking." You point. That wasn't exactly a good sign considering the precision snipers required.

"It's definitely something, Morgan." You say with a frown. "What's up?"

"It's just... I don't know. Every time we're fighting, my fingers just lock up and I-I can't make the shot when I want to!" Morgan bites her lip. "I didn't want to tell Simo because then he'd just worry, or he might even kick me out of the sniper corps. But... it just keeps coming back!"

"Right, you weren't there during the ambush at Vitoze." You nod in understanding. You then grab Morgan's hands in your own to stop the shaking.

"Don't worry, you'll do fine." You say simply.

Morgan is taken aback and can't even speak, though she just nods in response. "T-thanks."

"Sparky! Sparky!" you hear the radio crackle as Hudson hisses through it. "We need a distraction! Now!"

"You ready for this?" You ask Morgan.

"Y-yeah!" She nods.

You pick up your lance and aim it at the nearest fuel truck.

Your shot is dead on, and you can see the lance arc though the air before landing on the fuel truck. The truck doesn't really explode as much as ignites extremely rapidly (Vinnie was sure that difference was one of the first things you were taught), but it's still explosive enough. The entire area around the truck is spattered with flaming ragnoline and some of it starts landing on planes and people. One man tries to be a hero and put out the fires with an extinguisher, until he gets dropped by Morgan. It wasn't exactly the cleanest shot, hitting him in the lower torso, but at least she got a hit in.

At that point, and handful of planes suddenly explode, and you can see the rest of the team hightailing it back to your position. On the other side of the clearing, you can see the rest of the Wraiths and their armor support beginning their attack.

"Sparky! Morgan! We're going to need some cover!" Hudson yells.

You shift your aim to one of the planes on the runway. However, the planes were already trying to launch now that they were under attack. Better to try and get to the relative safety of the air rather than be caught on the ground, after all. However, thanks to the sabotage Hudson's team set up, their exit to the main runway was bottlenecked, slowing their escape.

Unfortunately, your lance shot is a bit too low and it falls short of your target, hitting the pavement. Morgan fares a bit better in nailing a gunner trying to zero in on Hudson's retreating team.

At this point, the planes are starting to make it to the main runaway and are taking off one by one. A hole in your gut forms when you realize that they're getting away when suddenly one of the escaping planes goes down in flames.

Suddenly, two squadrons of Falcons swoop down from the air to engage the Longswords. You see one particular Falcon with a bright blue ribbon on its tail zoom past and splash another Longsword almost effortlessly. Soon enough the entire sky is filled with planes turning, diving, and shooting.

Meanwhile, on the ground, with most of the planes now in the air, the rebels now have room to maneuver their vehicles. You can see several armored cars and trucks laden with troops headed in your direction. Hudson and the rest of the team manage to make it to the relative safety of the trees.

"Well, it looks like things are going well enough." Hudson sighs.

"But we're going to have company soon~!" Chequita points to the approaching rebels as she wipes the fresh blood off her knife.

"Hey, Simo!" You yell on the radio. "We're on the west end of the camp over here. You think you can lend us some help?"

"I can send Runaround to come pick you up." Simo says. "But you're going have to cover him. These damn rebels seem to be swimming in lances!"

"Okay, we'll keep an eye out for him, then." You nod.

"So, we just hold on till extraction reaches us?" Hudson asks.

"Pretty much." You shrug.

"Okay, we're going to have to deal with THAT, then." Hudson points to the oncoming vehicles. Two trucks full of infantry and two armored cars. You'd probably have time to get off two shots, maybe three if you're lucky.

"I can try taking out a driver or something." Morgan adds in.

Your first shot goes wide, landing nowhere near where you were intending to aim. Scowling, you quickly start loading in a second lance.

Meanwhile, Morgan exhales and fires. You see the windshields of one of the trucks shatter, and it veers off to the left where it crashes into parked fuel truck, causing both the vehicle and the rebels riding it to burst into flame. Beautiful, beautiful flames. Inspired, you launch your second lance which scores a solid hit on one of the armored cars, flipping it over on its back. Morgan follows up her shot with another bullseye, executing the driver of the second truck. Unfortunately, it doesn't crash into anything explodey and merely grinds to a halt, though now that meant the guys inside had to flootslog it the rest of the way.

Unfortunately, the last vehicle, the second armored car, swoops in and starts spraying the trees with MG fire.

"Motherfucker!" Woods curses as as an MG round hits him in the shoulder. Undaunted, he returns fire with his assault rifle, despite the fact all it was doing was ricocheting bullets off the car's armored hull.

At this point, the approaching infantry have regrouped and were pressing forward. You counted probably about six shocktroopers, two lancers, a gunner and a sniper. They were starting to advance, using the armored car as cover while it laid down suppressing fire.

"Runaround, we can use some help right about now!" You yell.

"Sparky!" Morgan screams and scrambles over to you. "Are you okay!?"

You quickly look down and just sort of laugh awkwardly. The bullets had been stopped by your armored chestplate not a single one had even made it through.

"You lucky dog." Mason whistles.

At this point, the infantry were getting a lot closer. Close enough that they could start trading fire with the rest of the team. Hudson and his team were doing well, knocking out a couple of the shocktroopers, but the bulk of the formation was advancing behind the armored car, getting closer and closer.

"Trombe incoming!" Runaround whoops over the radio. "Give me a target!"

You check your ammo belt and see that you've still got a couple of frag and AP lances left...

>"Gaaaah! Motherfucking shitcunts!"
One can only imagine what Lucas' reaction would be if he heard such language.

Sam gets shot at. Almost dies. Sparky gets shot at and tanks it like a boss.

Though I wonder now I wonder what the twins reaction to that war story was?

Once again, your lance misses, but Runaround's doesn't. The armored car explodes in a fireball, sending shrapnel and wreckage flying everywhere. One of the lancers turns to try and get a shot off at the Trombe, until his head disappears in a puff of blood thanks to Morgan.

Considering their mobile cover was now gone, and they were being flanked by a vengeful Trombe, the rebels break formation and flee. Hudson's team takes shots at the routed rebels, taking a few of them as they ran.

At that moment, the Trombe's passenger ramp drops down as the turret fires 20mm shells downrange to keep the rebels from regrouping.

"Okay, go go go!" Hudson yells as you all pile into the Trombe.

Once he's sure you're all inside, Runaround raises the ramp and guns the engine and you regroup with the main attack force. By this point in the battle, the only planes left in the air are the Falcons, which circle overhead victoriously. In the base itself, the rebels, realizing their attack has been thwarted, dispersed and retreated in the jungles, where they were harried and harassed by waiting Condors which mercilessly strafed them as they tried to retreat.

Meanwhile, it looked like the rest of Wraith Team had a tough battle of their own, judging from how rough they looked, but they otherwise looked fine. You do notice Honey Badger and War Pig sporting several new score marks from lance hits.

"Good job, everyone." Simo grins. "I think that takes care of our rebel problem for the time being."

"For now." Hudson nods. "But this isn't over. Not by a long shot."

"Well, we'll get this all sorted out once we get back to the Bastion." Simo says. "We'll debrief once we get some food and sleep."

"Sounds good to me." Hudson grins. "You don't happen to stock pancakes or anything, do you?"

"I believe I would like some pancakes as well." You hear a very thick, very Imperial accented voice speak. All of you whip around to see a rather elderly man in Imperial uniform, probably around Menendez's age, standing behind you.

"Who the hell are you?" Simo says, his rifle already pointed at the stranger.

"At ease, this guy's with us." Hudson says. "He's our inside man."

"The name is Reznov." The stranger grins. "A pleasure to finally meet the Demons of Randgriz."

>And that's it for tonight! Tune in on Friday 7-8pm PST for the next thread!

You'd have to play CoD: Black Ops to understand.
>>
>>27378865
I think the MC from CoD: Black Ops was only imagining Reznov the whole time. Reznov being an important character for him.
>>
>>27378805

I would say he could just be a really cool Russian guy, but this is world at war sadly.
Oh well.
