>You said you'd handle how our party knows each other and gets together, right DM?

>DM: Yeah, I did. So here's the deal. If your character wasn't a beautiful girl before, they are now.

>DM: You've all been captured and magically transformed into attractive harem girls for a strange creature you don't exactly know the nature of.

>DM: You and all the other harem girls have been brainwashed and charmed into loyal odalisques. But the charm spell's worn off on you for some reason, not the other concubines. It's time to make your escape.

I don't know how to feel about this.

This. You are aware that you were living a lie, and now must escape from your prison while attempting to release other unfortunate souls who are trapped with you.
The BBEG is an old dragon who lost his daughters and took you on to remind him of them, he doesn't do anything nasty to you, just feeds you tea, cake and reads you bedtime stories. Then he cries himself to sleep because he knows this is wrong but he misses his little girls so much.

>>27413485
what is this "magical realm" thing you guys keep on referring to?

>>27413422
Conceptually it makes a ton of sense. The BBEG is not out there to conquer the world, he is a serial rapist with the magic power to charm and polymorph.

This would either be an awesome awesome game, or a horrifically creepy shitfest, it all depends on how capable your DM is (assuming the BBEG is not his marty stu that is)
>>
>>27413473
I don't think charm person makes you forget what happened. So you probably have some pretty good memories of taking the D for however long you were imprisoned before it wore off.

Dragons can only cast sorcerer spells, and to resurrect someone without a body at all you need True Resurrection, which is divine only.
>>
>>27413422
Oh c'mon, they can't just jump into the harem transformation! You gotta have an introduction first. Like, they're in an inn and a shady guy pills them, or they all get knocked unconscious in a fight.

Ya cain't jus' go doin' shit like this from th' start.
>>
>>27414523
>Dragons can only cast sorcerer spells
no, dragons cast AS A SORCERER, but pick spells from any class ever printed.
That is, a dragon may choose for their first level spells magic missle (wiz/sor), cure light wounds (clr), lesser confusion (bard), etc.

that is if the dragon is focusing on gishing and doesn't dedicate themselves to the art, if they do they become book dragons who cast as a wizard... again from every class available (so a book dragon has cure light wounds spell in his spellbook... but you must be a true dragon to learn and cast that spell, so no luck if your wizard loots one)
>>

>>
>>27414771
ah, so shouldn't the first thing the DM do is provide detail history of what happened to them since they were captured? since its information their character's have.
>>
>>27414806
Unless they are under some other spells that are still in place and suppress their memories, even as their personality resurfaces.
As their natural personality would have been entirely replaced, they would probably not have conscious access to the memories of the little girl persona. If they even work like a normal human mind.
You might want to keep them from asking questions and thinking too much by keeping their own memories fuzzy and have them forget things from any term longer ago than a week.
This way they would not ask about why they don't seem to grow up or get bored of their games.

Under these assumptions the scenario would be the following: You wake up in the body of a little girl that you know is not you, your head filled with fuzzy memories of childish plays and drawing blank when trying to remember anything else, except the fact that you are not this girl. Not really.
And then you walk the place, filled with squealing little girls and find a few others walking without skipping, a steely look in their eyes and whatever comes next to a weapon clutched tightly.
Welcome to the real world, Neo.
>>
>Day 2
>Managed to work out that at least three others aren't still brainwashed, or whatever happened to us. Still not sure if the other girls can be trusted as help. They might give away information to our captors if we tell them too much.

At least this will be over soon enough, we're all ready to get out of here and get our old bodies back

>day 38
>Ogar is still pissed off that all the exercising he's done hasn't bulked up his small body at all. Think she's sulking and tormenting Sophie again. Should stop him but Trays is sleeping on my lap and I don't want to wake her after he stayed up all night copying the notes off the walls before they vanished. On the plus side, all our wounds heal ridiculously fast. It'd take a very determined effort to actually kill each other.
>Will recommend to him doing knife-fighting practice later.

>day 156
>I couldn't find Ogar for half the morning today. She was busy sitting with the other girls and having a tea party. Wouldn't respond to Ogar until I turned around and then the little bitch shanked me in the kidneys and then giggled like a little girl as the others ran away screaming. Apparently she's been practicing pretending to fit in and also being able to pounce and stab in less than 3 seconds. Am not sure whether to be angry or proud.

>We've made a betting pool. Trays thinks this place was some kind of self-sustained harem, and the owner's died or something.
>Ogar thinks its a not-exactly hell.
>I just hope we'd actually be able to split up the pool one day.
>>
>Day ??? (let's say 200)
>Found my notes again. Can't believe it's been this long. We mostly spend the days now with Trays telling us stories about history, play-fighting with the other girls or other sorts of things, and sometimes sparring with Ogar. I worry some day he'll stop and forget that he's pretending.

>I wonder if that's why she hid my diary.

>Day 1832
>Checking back in the diary, it's been nearly nine months since we've been pretending to be girls entirely.
>Somehow it never seems to get boring, but at least we're all remembering our little charade. Every now and then one of us will say the magic words, and we'd spring into action, each of us knowing what is the best makeshift weapon in our hands to maim and kill with.
>Ah, Trays is calling me for another playtime with the dollies

DM has created the starting setting, true. However, they have given you freedom from the brainwashing/charming, and it's up to you to escape. Doesn't seem like the DM is forcing you to roleplay a fetish past the escape.

Considering the party gender makeup (3 of 5 are female, if that's correct), I really, REALLY see no problem with the setting. Being gay really doesn't make much of a difference, honestly.

Yep. Complete with having a stack of characters to burn through.

If you want I could ACTUALLY do one with something imposed on the girls. This one was written entirely mind-control-free. Only pressures were societal.
>>
Rolled 12

>>27431433
>Only pressures were societal.
That just makes it worse. And it is still imposing the identity even if it's indirectly instead of just snap-poofing it in place.
>>
>>27431365
What? The sexuality has nothing to do with it. It's the idea of being powerless, trapped and slowly losing your mind and sense of self. Being powerless to stop the slow, creeping degradation of your mind, blotting out the memories of anything different than the current situation, in an attempt to hold onto your sanity and one day quietly realising that it's all been in vain, as your own actions have just tightened the noose around your neck, making you a prisoner of your own mind, as much as the walls around you.

Let's just say mind-controllers, mind-breaking slavers and the like never last long around my characters... Or I end up rolling up a new one rather sharpish.

>>27431293
The only other GM in the group only runs Warhammer 40k games (a bit poorly), or Shadowrun (poorly), with occasional Seventh Sea (with an extra bucket of existential grimdark... And poorly). But he's the only guy other than me, who'll run! And the last three games I've tried to put on have fallen apart due to various things.

D&D was due to drama when one of my players through a tantrum. She was playing a charisma 19 sorceress, described as being extremely beautiful. She got upset OOC when the village card shark hit on her in the tavern, so she stormed out and took her boyfriend (playing the paladin) with her. Her boyfriend's pal, playing the cleric, left with them.

I then tried L5R, but over half my party were murderhobos and wanted nothing to do with anything courtly, so that fell apart quickly.

Most recently, I've tried Mutants and Masterminds, but after a promising first session, various members of the group have had reasons why they've not been able to make it, meaning we've had to cancel four sessions in a row and I'm starting to think it's not worth it.

I don't care if I'm playing, or running (though I'd like to play); I just want a decent game that doesn't fall apart like a house of cards!

Time flows like a river and history repeats. These transgendered harem threads were popular on /tg/ some 5 years ago. Fetishism never changes.
>>
>>27431494
>there's a societal pressure around you RIGHT NOW
Yeah, which brought me up into my current state (which I'm pretty happy with) from the blank start.
Current societal pressure is in line with my current self.
And this current self really does not want to get dissolved in favour of some guy's pet princess and finds the imagined situation creepy as hell.

Oh, and the scenario also had physical transformation as well, that adds to the creeps.
>>
>>27431552
Happy is happy, anon. If you got dumped in China would you struggle to remain unhappy, or adjust?

If one retains your old memories, then you won't lose your old self, though you would change as everything living does.

The physical transformation's just accentuating things.
>>
>being scared of transgendered Magical Realm antics

I don't want to be that guy, but toughen up. Not even counting fetish shit this is stuff that's frequently used in fantasy fiction (and sci-fi). Is it scary? yes! That's the point!
>>
>>27431576
>If one retains your old memories, then you won't lose your old self, though you would change as everything living does.
That writefaggotry had them losing that.

If I'm dumped as a rice farmer into China then I /will/ be unhappy. And will be trying to get out.

What are you, a fucking amoeba that accepts whatever lot they get thrown in?
>>
>>27431576
>>27431674
Alright, alright, I think what we can carry away from this, is that people are scared of and find different things unsettling. Further, people have different reactions to said stimuli.

There is no need to argue about this. Do you deride someone for being afraid of the dark, or spiders, while you are afraid of snakes, or swimming?
>>
>>27431712

Agreed.

Personally I prefer when the changed person retains their own personality and has to cope with a whole new body instead. It's much funnier to watch a barbarian now with the body of a harem girl try to swing her way-too-heavy axe
>>
>>27431736

http://www.exiern.com
>>
>>27431674
As the writefaggoter, author intent was to have them as a mix of their original selves adjusting to their new bodies. For example -
>>27431736
No axes to swing - and no strength to either, so the barbarian compensates by taking up learning dagger styles and getting combat advantage by pretending to be an innocent girl perfectly until she gouges someone's throat out with cutlery.
Wizard's gonna wizard.
And main character remembers with that smile.

>If I'm dumped as a rice farmer into China then I /will/ be unhappy. And will be trying to get out.
Well, yes. Everyone would strive, at first. But compare a young fragile female body's weaknesses to a barbarian's hand getting lopped off, or blinded.

People adapt. Adapt and overcome.

Or they don't.

I can understand that the thought may be scary, but elements of these scenarios are faced in the real world - out of a job, onto the streets - suddenly crippled - debts and duties.

And there are ways to overcome or mitigate such things.

Does that help ease you fears, fellow britfag and other anon?
>>
>>27431736
Definitely. It can even lead to some character development, too; such as the barbarian instead deciding to focus on the higher reflexes that his smaller frame gives him/her and switching to a pair of tomahawks, turning into a leaping blur of attacks, instead of overpowering swings. Just as a superficial example.

Involuntary form-change is fine. MINOR adjustments to personality, that the character is aware of and can chose to ignore, are fine (for example, the barbarian developing a liking for bright coloured beads in her hai- wait a second, what the hell am I doing?). Provided the character (and player) has control of how their character reacts to their changes, it's all good. The trouble comes when they are forced into a new personality, or mannerisms. At that point, you may as well have never made the character to start with, as you've essentially been told, "No, you're not playing that; you're playing THIS." It devalues your input to the game, which is one of the draws of a tabletop RPG; being able to make and do what you want. The same is true in-character; the person, the soul and essence of the 'self', is discarded as meaningless. If you're going for existential horror, great, fine, but I don't have to like it. There's a reason I don't play Call of Cthulhu.
>>
>>27413901
it's made by kc green. people just don't want to say since they suck
>>
>>27432035
>There's a reason I don't play Call of Cthulhu.
Is it because your group keeps falling apart?
>>
>>27432035

Unoless of course you wake up from the MC preggers.
>>
>>27432035
I don't think that any of it was forced, though.

If you were stuck with a bunch of girls like that, wouldn't you try to at least enjoy yourself in whatever ways you could?

That'd be a player choice, not a DM forced choice. Mind-control is effectively as you said making the player an NPC.

But, done right, a DM can make a player choose to take actions they wouldn't normally take as that character.
>>
>>27432257
ah, in the trapped-in-a-room example though, the characters really aren't afforded any freedom. Their every course of action meets with total, abject and absolute failure. Given time to try every possible action, only to be met with failure in all but one (in this case, acting like the little girl, until you believe it yourself), you're not really given a choice at all.

Am I making myself clear here?
>>
>>27432035

I'm very fond of characters being transformed for the purpose of disguise. They voluntarily choose it (even if it is uncomfortable or awkward) and then choose to act like their disguise to meet their goal. Good times had by all, even if you have to have sex with a few men during the process.
>>
>>27432363
Or women. I now have this image of the bard trying and failing to seduce the Efreet princess, as she has a thing for girls instead, so he decides, "Fuck it!" and gets the wizard to transform him. Not the best example though, as he's essentially acting exactly the same.

Deliberate transformations are a very different kettle of fish; they rarely result in the player being forced into a new role, too badly. You might change into the princess's doppelgänger and be forced to play the role for a bit, while the rest of your party desperately tries to rescue the real one, but the choice is always there to decide, "Fuck this noise!" and storm out.

Long story short, it can be fun either way, so long as the players remain in control of their own actions and choices.
>>
>>27432304
Actually, I would have put distinct goals in place:

Barbarian Tunnelling out, very very slowly

Mage relearning magic without components, to cast teleport spells

Other character looking into odd things like the limits of regeneration, ways to beat the system.

What I WOULD do is start calling for will checks if they spend too long on it, causing skill failures due to stress and running up against being stumped etc.

You can't focus soley on digging tunnels all day forever very well. It's possible to lose yourself doing that just as much.

And THEN after the players de-stress, they start getting more bonuses because hey, they've just managed to let go of some of that built up angst and not worry about it for a while, maybe get some new viewpoints or resting from digging a hole in a wall.

Making your players utterly fail over long periods is just terrible for everyone. They'd have at the very least a semblance of progress, and likely actually discovering more about the scenario they're in.

I wouldn't for example run the above scenario exactly like how I wrote it out for most of my players (and the ones who might want to would... well. Ahem. Eagerly magical realming, I'm sure.) but would put it more like a mystery to solve over a longer term. What's written above is a story, not a game plan.
>>
>>27432304
>>27432475
And if things REALLY get boring, and it's obvious that no-one is having fun-

I'd suggest something to one of the other players -

>day 936
>Trays decided that we'd play a different game today.
>Roll six sets of 4d6 drop lowest, we're going to pretend to ADVENTURE

and then things start going full recursive Scheherazade.

>One of the girls joined in. I think she's happy to not be playing a simpering mindless side individual all the time and is happy to actually play 'her own character' for once, whatever that means

I think we just got so meta, my brain melted.

That'd be a real coup though; freeing the other girls from mind-control by means of a game. Let them express themselves as themselves, by working around and within the restrictions of the spell... Now that's CLEVER! I'd have never have come up with that.

Not that I ever need to, with my GM...

>>27432475
I guess that works. Like you say though, the above is a story. A story that creeps the hell out of me.

In a way, I kind of WANT to play a game like that now. When it all finally pays off, when you FINALLY get your freedom, still as YOU, although maybe not QUITE the same 'you' that got trapped in the first place... That'd be a hell of a feeling, if you can just soldier through the hard times.

Why can't I play with people more like you guys? Why?
>>
>>27432756
I'd offer to run a game for you with some of the folks from /tg/, but.. I currently only play with groups that are based out of the ERP players so I can definitely understand that it might not be your speed.

Sorry.

Note: all of those game I've played with /tg/ fell apart, too.

Transformations just for the sake of transformations are fun, mainly to watch the fallout. Trying to influence anything besides the transformation makes it much less enjoyable.

Poorly-fleshed-out NPCs, because my group just doesn't care and I'm not sure how to make them.
