12th day of Prophecy, 11:30 am, inside the magically reinforced holding cell/tent in the crusader camp.

‘’Phew…’’

Pressures, stress, nervousness and perhaps a little too much anger were, undoubtedly, the majority of your emotions for the last few days and only now you are finally crashing down; only 10 minutes after revealing you’re plotting concerning the High Inquisitor and Leila volunteering to scout out the camp of the Flaming Fist did this uncharacteristic wave of fatigue slam into your body, creating a strange, almost uncharacteristic lethargy that left the entire tent silent well after the blond made her exit and the golem came to sit next to you.

Of course, Leila didn’t venture forth without a proper reason; it happened to be surprisingly simple as the inner camp of Ahriman housed the biggest shrine in the entire headquarter and the weekly communal prayer happened around noon, while the practice was obviously not spread throughout the entire set of camps as that was the very first time you’ve learned of the practice, it was particularly present for the higher echelons and, of course, everyone was welcome to walk in and for a moment you thought about accompanying her to keep your cover, but soon decided otherwise for, if you wanted to actually give Leila the appearance of an independent partnership, you can’t be seen with her too often.

As such, she set out alone and the tent fell in silence soon after, the two women beside you staying frozen stiff for entirely different reason until, finally, your raven-haired bodyguard break the ice.

You felt a hand slowly crawl up your spine, fingers staying perfectly still as the caress crept up your body with obvious insistence that left you gulping awkwardly but, you aren’t one to run from a woman (possible) wrath and as such you turned to look into the piercing dark eyes of Mylen, to describe her looks as calculated would be a clear dramatization but it wasn’t exactly far from the truth; sometime (most of the time in fact) you have absolutely no idea what’s going on inside that emotionless head of hers, the only reason why you feel somewhat upbeat right now is entirely due to the soft caress of her hand that stopped right in the middle of your spine, forcing you to straighten your back as she start a short lived tickling, although for a second her gaze fall to your hand grasping onto Emeth fingers.

‘’…A bit too much wouldn’t you think?’’

The moment you open your mouth to these implications, Mylen silence you; the woman, quite simply and literally, approach her face close enough for her cheek to touch yours and she quickly move upward, resting her face near your forehead and right eye, forcing you to close it as she start blowing soft breaths while her wings deploy themselves fully, flapping uselessly while her left most slapped gently around your lower back, at the level of your kidneys and you can’t help but brace each time as you remember your all to recent injury, but most of all is the confusion at her obviously unusual actions.

‘’I think I know what you should do…’’

She speak slowly, her voice low and measured, giving you the impression of a predator hanging just above its prey, for a moment you remember the time in college when you studied various insects; the female are always bigger, stronger, faster and much more dangerous than the males… and right now a strange sentiment of danger emanate from your bodyguard, your tent isn’t impregnable in the least but right now, your fatigue is all but gone as your heart start pumping quicker, the small tickle of her fingers changed into an outright grasp of your back as she gently push on your spine, yet she nuzzle slightly, rubbing her face on yours like an awkward animal, her soft and smooth long hair tickle your skin, their color of deep midnight is obviously unnatural, but it only serve to deepen the strange enchantment of this woman.

‘’Mylen…?’’

You finally croak, your lisps and breath rub her pale skin, elicit a brief chuckle that sounded like an illusion.

‘’I like this construct’’

She suddenly speaks and you listen.

‘’And that young blonde remind me of myself when I was younger, I want to help them both. It’s our duty as senior, right?’’

Senior? You keep your question to yourself, you’ve learned that Mylen isn’t indestructible; like every person she has her moments of weakness and every one of them were highly situational and caused some temporary eccentricity.

You finally agree and the woman move slightly, her other hand press you against her body, you face nudging her throat as she moved upward.

Ah? You can’t help but frown at her statement, it’s obvious who she’s talking about given that there’s only one more person in this tent, such a demand from Mylen is very obviously uncharacteristic and you feel like asking her purpose, but that’s obviously stirring a potential hornet’s nest...

Well, you could always take the lute and try to change this situation entirely, right? Or perhaps you wish to proceed with Mylen request?

A strong wave of enthusiasm erupt within you and you can’t help but smile broadly as the demand of your bodyguard sink in, the extreme proximity of your awkward positions doesn’t allow you to gaze at her but, after a few seconds of this awkward hug and groping coming from your bodyguard, the raven haired woman lets you go by simply retreating, sitting back on the bed and allowing you freedom of movements once more.

You can’t help but feel a tad awkward, both of the girls are now looking at you rather intensely for entirely different reasons, Mylen look completely interdict and closed; not exactly uncommon for her while Emeth is merely emotionless by nature and, when your eyes cross with the bright red squares of her pupils, she tilt in heard in puzzlement as you squeeze her hand tighter, something she replicate immediately.

‘’Well…huh’’

Your awkward voice trail off and you grow silent when Mylen shake her head, her foot nudge your legs and you finally turn toward the construct proper, putting your hand on her brown hair for a caress, you slide your hand toward her chin and cup it gently; all the while the golem remained perfectly submissive and motionless, continuing her silent stare right up until you approach for her lisps. The kiss is short lived, but the girl is warm, as warm and alive as any person, her lisps are soft and amazingly delicious; you’d have lingered more if she didn’t move her head awkwardly, her confusion seemed total and a small chuckle escaped your throat as you already knew what she was about to say the moment she opened her mouth.

‘’Siggy? What?’’

‘’Ssh…’’

You simply put your index on her lisps, the golem actually grab it and push it away from her face.

‘’You’ll have to think on it’’

Your actions caused something of a stir inside the golem, but that’s about it: it’s impossible to identify anything and the irregularity inside of her disappear like a short lived summer breeze, her disturbed serenity return in earnest although, she does squeeze your hand and let go, alternating like the pumping of a heart.

‘’Now then, I ought to do it for you as well’’

You turn toward the Succubus, Mylen seemed to have watched the proceeding with great interest given the frown on her face but, when you cross eyes with her dark gaze, your bodyguard shake her head, her wings flapping gently while she position herself to face forward, offering you her masked profile as her long, long hair cascade down her body like a velvety barrier.

‘’No, there’s no need for that’’

She’s speaking with a total of emotions, what a strange departure from her prior actions…

She speak without facing you and let out a long discouraged sigh, clearly this woman is troubled but trying to pull it out of her is likely to be troublesome, this girl is very, very stubborn after all.

To be fair she wasn't of sound mind when that happened, the corruption warps the mind as well as the body. It is why it is so insidious. In the end, you stop being who you are and become a sex crazed animal, or a monstergirl/incubus that is likewise all about sex but still retains some higher mental functions.

You aim to kill him and so do I; but once the deed is done, if you need to abandon me to save your life than I fully expect you to proceed to safety. That’s putting it bluntly, the mere mention of the purge sank your mood and almost sent you in dangerous nostalgia, for a moment you remembered the blood stained snow, the struggles of the monsters banding together out of pure, raw desperation and of course the presence of the small, persistent High Inquisitor who met his end at the hands of your own mother.

‘’If sacrifice needs to be made in order to kill a careful man inside a military camp, then so be it; but you won’t be the one to do it. Am I understood, Siegfried?’’

This is the kind of tone that won’t take no for an answer, however… a part of you feel like asking something in return, although you most likely just have to accept her terms; Mylen isn’t going to accept any kind of negotiations because, in the end she’s completely right. As your bodyguard, she’s the one that has to ensure your safety come first and foremost.

Yet… you can’t help but feel like she’s pushing herself away from you; her demands feel simply like excuses…

Try as you might, you can’t find yourself to blame her for her actions, after all you’ve left Mylen in a strange lands amidst people she didn’t know nor cared for too much and subsequently enrolled into a foreign war she had nothing to do with; the only reason why she left the estate was because of you and you alone, popping up in the field after your betrayal was likely lose to a miracle and she wasn’t going to let it go, but in the end having her in the camp complicated your position quite a bit, yet another cause for guilt.

‘’But much more importantly, you are a brilliant warrior and I can’t afford to lose you for future battles; there’s also the fact that were old lover, you know that I love you, right? Can you really expect a man blinded by love to leave hi precious person behind for convenience?’’

Your second hand slowly hover to Mylen chin to cup it gently, rubbing her soft skin with your fingers you gaze into her eyes and resist the temptation of leaning for a kiss; it’s not quite the time for that unfortunately, there’s also the fact that Emeth intense stare happen to cause some slight awkwardness, you can’t exactly will out the golem as much as you want, neither can you order her out of the tent…

‘’It’s not that simple’’

Mylen shake her head and sigh in frustration, breaking off from the hug to lean away from you, her face half obscured by her hair, she put a hand to her forehead and scowl, seemingly caught by some kind of old demons you’ve no clue about. Thankfully this situation is enough to distract yourself from the Butcher…

‘’Emotions are not absolute; you’ve already found more than enough support in your short time here, tell me Siegfried. Tell me…’’

The rest of the sentence dies in her throat as a strange sound interrupt her speech, a deep, strong chant erupt from somewhere in the camp, tens, perhaps even a hundred, people chanting in unison; strong voices trampling others as they speak in the Old Tongues, giving tribute to the parent gods of the world.

A magnificent religious chant empty of instrument magically spread throughout the entire main camp; the communal prayers is either started or finishing you can’t be sure of wish, but it leave a strong impression indeed, the spirituality of the Church is most certainly not for show.

‘’…During the Purge, your mother was the one to plot and bring the end of the High Inquisitor poisoning your mind, his entire retinue was killed thank to your uncle participation as the Shieffer house turned on him while you dealt with the guerilla of monsters and of course I joined her, but the reason why we brought an end to a man of dubious quality was because he was acting in our homeland. Siegfried… your mother always, always acted with your best interest in mind, you know that right?’’

The sudden change of subject leave you honestly speechless; Mylen is of course reserved and emotionless, she speak with clarity and purpose without being clouded or embroiled by emotions despite the nostalgia, the bad, bad nostalgia of that cold hell.

‘’I’d like to do that, too’’

She whisper through the faraway religious chant, this time breaking the stare entirely to look down, her long enchanted hair falling around her profiles and obscuring her features slightly as it hugged her body on its way down, cascading down like a dry waterfall of pure, jet black ink.

‘’Your moving somewhere I can’t follow or reach Siegfried, as such I don’t want love to cloud your judgment you… you’re strong enough to see past that’’

She let out a small sight and finally face up to you again, her pale face plastered with a strangely warm smile that look like acceptance rather than joy.

‘’You can’t do any half-measure with this plot, and…’’

She sighs and finally turns her back to you.

‘’I’m too ashamed to stay by your side as lovers anyway’’

You have a long, long history with this woman and this kind of behavior isn’t entirely unusual; inner peace and control, even induced and artificial, always seem to be something that this woman reached for but very rarely did she actually faced the subjects of your relationship head on, never before did she actually come to doubt herself. Mylen was always the best of soldiers, the best of fighters, and the best of lover…

Mylen seem be victim of a rare surge, her emotions are cloudy but apparent; her face has warped into pain, uncomfortable, bitter pain forcing her to close her eyes and a bout of nervousness or stress provoke her teeth to clack against one another for one single, rare time.

‘’And then Mana died.’’

Before that time, the three of you grew closer than ever before, your mother and Mylen became great friend; with you, there was the warmth of awkward lovers but relationship of lust was gone, completely blown apart and forged into a solid, unbreakable bond thank to the trials of the Purge.

With slightly humid eyes, Mylen rub them and look back at you, the profound serenity all but shattered by momentary rage and frustration… and then, outside, you start hearing various footsteps, people coming back and, inevitably, Leila as well.

…You may indeed need to place some distance between you and your bodyguard if you wish to succeed on this mission.

Already stated. Flensing with rusty knives is always a great way to start the day. Then we move on to whipping and some burning on the areas we haven't flensed (we don't want to cauterize anything, makes the next part less painful).
