Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

You are LUCAS WILLIAMS, a member of the mercenary company Demons of Randgriz and a graduate from its elite TIER ONE Program. You are now part of the elite, but inexperienced WRAITH TEAM, consisting of you and your fellow classmates from training.

After a grueling year of training and quick battle to get rid of some troublesome pirates harassing Gallia's northern coast, you and Wraith Team have found yourselves transferred to the exotic land of San Salvacion, an entire ocean away from Gallia. You've been brought in to help the beleaguered country suppress the rebels that oppose its rule, as well as counter any possible Erusean aggression from the South.

Unfortunately, the action started much sooner than you thought it would when your base was ambushed literally almost the moment you set foot in it. While the attackers were repulsed, the attack has left you and your squad a bit shaken that presumably poorly armed and organized rebels could strike at the heart of San Salvacion's military power in the south so easily.

Unfortunately, it seems the situation is getting more and more complicated as more players in this conflict begin to reveal themselves...

The next day, and Simo was still busy trying to convince the San Salvacion government to sanction a scouting mission into Erusea. This has left Wraith Team in a bit of a limbo situation, as you didn't really have official orders to do anything in particular, so most of you were left to your own devices, more or less.

Well, you could always hit up Hudson's team, who were probably hanging around here somewhere. Though you've talked to Hudson and Reznov, you really didn't know the rest of the Emmerian team that well. Last you say they had gone off with Bragg and Runaround.

Meanwhile, you see Menendez, Falynn, and Charlotte at the West gate. Oddly enough, you see Menendez and Falynn in some sort of enthusiastic conversation. Since when did the two of them grow so close?

And finally, you can see Lucina, Morgan, and Mary-Kate at the top of the wall, apparently eying something suspicious or something.

Well, there was still Edwin and Sparky, but they were still in the infirmary and the doctors here were much more strict. No visitors. In addition, Lara and her fellow pilots had already left earlier in the morning to return to the Kestrel.

You seem to recall Hudson and his team moving off to the motor pool, so you decide to make your way over there. You wave your way through all of the parked jeeps, trucks, tanks, and transports until you can see Trombe sitting in the back. Oddly enough, it wasn't quite in line with the rest of the vehicles, like it was hiding something behind it. You can also hear lots of talking, though you can't quite make out exactly what is being said.

Curious, you walk around the vehicle, and see Bragg, Runaround, and Hudson's team all gathered around a makeshift still, most of them with drinks in their hands.

"What the heck is going on here?" You blink.

"You're right, he IS pretty slow." Woods cackles to Bragg.

"I can see you've got a still set up." You protest. "But why? And... how?!?"

"Lucas, if you've really got to ask why a man needs a drink, you obviously haven't truly lived." Bragg laughs. "Since all of our supplies have to be shipped in, alcohol is pretty low on priorities, so we gotta make do."

"Trading the surplus to the villagers also has it's boons." Runaround nods.

"Isn't bootlegging illegal?"

"Well, only in Europa." Bragg shrugs. "And... Emmeria too?"

"The government loves their taxes." Mason nods.

"But the thing is, we're not in Europa or Emmeria. We're in San Salvacion, and last I checked the had no official law against brewing your own alcohol, and even if they did, I'd love to see a policeman brave enough to come to the southern border to arrest us."

"As for the how," Runaround joins in. "Falynn actually helped us out a lot with it."

"No way, Falynn wouldn't do something like that... would she?" You gasp.

"Lucas, do not underestimate a latent genius who doesn't experience enough challenge in her life." Bragg grins.

"How does she even know how to build a still in the first place?"

"Guess she read it somewhere." Bragg shrugs.

Well, this was certainly something you had to confront Falynn about at some point. However, you suddenly feel two hands starting pinching your cheeks.

"Awww, he's just so adorable!" Chequita cooes as she pulls at your cheeks from behind. Honestly you never even heard her coming! "Hey Lucas, why don't you join up with us? I promise I'll take care of and look out for you~!"

Both Hudson and Mason shake their heads in exasperation, while Woods is in stitches and nearly spills his drink. Bragg and Runaround also join in on the silent laughter. Yeah, great squadmates they were. Weren't they supposed to be watching your back?

Fucking Chaquita would result in a bad end how? We get a higher grade of ass than was likely otherwise on a reasonable timescale?
>>
>>27492987
Every instinct in you tells you to try and disengage and run for you life, but your rational mind kicks in and warns you that trying to run away would probably make things worse. From what you could tell, Chequita had a hunter's mindset, the harder something was to obtain, the more she wanted it.

This meant that in order to save yourself, you'd have to throw yourself into her jaws, in a metaphorical sense.

"Haha, really now?" You laugh awkwardly. "What are the benefits for Emmerian soldiers?"

"Well... in the Special Warfare Division, you get to kill whoever you want and do whatever you want with almost zero consequences!" Chequita says with a beaming smile. "As long as you don't caught, of course, but that's half the fun!"

"Okay, that's enough." Hudson sighs. "Let the kid go, Chequita."

"AWWWWWW." Chequita pouts. Yes, you are seeing a grown woman trained killer pouting like a ten year old girl. "Can't we keep him, pleeeaaaase?"

And her grip on you grows ever tighter.

The enemies scatter to the four winds, terrified, and filled with a strange desire to touch the hair.
>>

>>
>>27493263
Well, you really didn't want to, but it looks like you'd have to resort to it. You'd have to use THAT.

Fortunately for you, Chequita's face is already pretty close to your head, so all you need to do is shift your head a bit to the side and rub your fluffy hair all along her cheek.

"Aaaaah~!" Chequita squeals before falling over, a dreamy look on her face. "So... FLUFFY! Oh god I'm gonna die..."

This time EVERYBODY starts laughing and spilling their drinks. Bragg actually almost knocks the still over.

"Holy shit, kid!" Woods cackles. "We've seen and fought some serious shit over the past few years, but never have I seen anything take down Chequita as fast as you did!"

"Oh man she's never going to live down this one!" Mason laughs. "Give me the camera, Woods, we gotta save this for posterity!"

Hudson doesn't laugh out loud, but the restrained grin he's giving suggest he's on the verge.

"Damn, Lucas." Bragg laughs and wraps an arm around you. "I always wondered why the girls always had their eyes on you, and now I know! Hair like that is a borderline war crime!"

"Oh yeah, I'm going to have to report this to the UN." Hudson nods. "We've just found a new WMD."

"Hey, that's not funny guys." You frown. "Chequita's really scary!"

"Well, I think you'd better be hauling ass, kid." Woods says, getting a new drink for himself. "Or Chequita's gonna start grabbing it when she wakes up!"

You nod and quickly make your escape. Hudson and his guys were certainly interesting, though Chequita was definitely the most scary of the lot. Before you know it, you're back at the center of the base. Everybody seems to be gone, but you're pretty sure you've got a good idea where they went.

You sigh and head for the nearest gate. A quick query to the gate guards and they confirm that Lucin and the others had recently exited just a few minutes ago. Well, at least the trail was still warm.

"Are you sure about going off into the jungle on your own?" The gate guard asks. "The jungle is pretty dangerous at any time of the day."

"I can handle myself." You say, patting your M60. You made sure you were prepared, after all.

"Whatever you say." The guard shrugs and opens the gate for you. You quickly cross the cleared area between the wall and the treeline designed to be a killzone in case of an attack. No point in making yourself a target for potential snipers. In a few seconds, you reach the treeline, and now the jungle seems a lot more foreboding now that you're up close. However, you came too far to back out now. You take a deep breath to gather your courage and step inside.

There's not answer, just more rustling. You're about to pull the trigger when the source of the noise finally reveals itself. It's big, ugly, noisy, and extremely smelly, with a hairy body, tusks, and a large snout...

It's a goddamn wild boar. And a very angry one at that. The thing just comes charging out at you screaming.

You try to dodge out of the way, but you're weighed down by your armor and gear, and you can't quite make it. The boar rams you full in the chest, knocking the air out of your lungs and send you sprawling to the ground. However, the one good thing your armor does is soak most of the impact, but the trauma plates have literally cracked from the force.

Your gun was also knocked from your grasp, and is lying just out of arm's reach of you. If you shifted just a bit, you could reach it, but the boar is already preparing to charge again.

The boar struggles, and you very nearly lose your grip several times, but you manage to find an opening where you can risk letting go with one hand to draw your knife, and you jam it in the boar's throat several times before it can finally shake you off. You're sent rolling through the dirt and when you get up, you can see the boar still standing. However, it's obvious it's on its last legs. Blood is leaking profusely from its throat and its squealing has become a pained gurgle. It teeters and totters on its feet, as if it's about to fall over any second, but it remains standing. Defiant to the end.

Well, you were no hunter, so you really didn't know the custom of dealing with a cornered, mortally wounded animal, but something from Reznov's story yesterday, his lamentation on Dimitri's undignified death, moved something within you. This boar... it only attacked because you were bumbling through its territory, and it fought tooth and tusk for it. Even if it DID try to kill you, it didn't deserve to die a slow death from blood loss, or to be finished off by something as crude as a gun.

You walk forward, knife drawn. The boar eyes you warily, but it doesn't have the strength to do much else.

"Ssshh, it's all right. It'll be over soon." You whisper before jamming the knife directly into the back of its neck, severing its brain stem. The boar twitches and then falls over, finally dead.

You stand over the slain board, blood covering your hands, and you're left wondering what to do.

"HEY GUYS I THINK I HEARD IT OVER HERE!" You hear Mary-Kate's voice ring from the trees.

"MK," You can hear Morgan sighing, "we're not going to find that boar if you keep scaring it off with your yelling."

At that moment, Lucina, Morgan, and Mary-Kate come out of the bushes, and the first thing they see is you, covered in blood, standing over the body of a very very dead boar.

You all stare at each other rather awkwardly.

"Sorry, I was just looking for you guys!" You say apologetically. "I honestly didn't mean for any of this to happen."

"Well, I guess this brings our little hunting trip to a close." Morgan sighs. "Lucas, don't be stupid and wander the jungle alone. And MK, you could stand to be a bit less noisy when we're hunting."

"Sure thing!" Mary-Kate nods.

"Sorry, Morgan."

"Come on, let's hurry back!" Lucina says, picking up the boar by herself. "With this heat and humidity, the meat's going to spoil fast!"

That night, you all have a sort of mini celebration. Considering you had subsisted on field rations and slop for the past few weeks, fresh pork was something of a huge deal. You and the rest of Wraith team choose a quiet, secluded spot of the base, well away from the rest of the personnel so they wouldn't find out. Falynn sets up a small fire pit and spit to get the boar cooked. Bragg and Runaround bring a bunch of drinks. Even Menendez drops by, apparently due to Falynn inviting him. Simo is nowhere to be found, though Morgan says he's still busy.

As the boar cooks, you tell everybody the story of how you faced the boar and won in single combat. However, you did add some embellishments, like how you slew it and drank its blood in order to gain its power. You might have gotten a bit overboard with that.

"You know, that was a really impressive thing you did." Lucina smiles as she sits next to you. "What did it feel like, defeating it in battle?"

"It's complicated. On the one hand, I'm not gonna lie, it felt great. I felt like I was alive, more than usual, when I was fighting it. "I felt kinda bad, actually." You sigh. "On the one hand, I'm not gonna lie, it felt great. I felt like I was alive, more than usual, when I was fighting it. On the other hand, I felt kind of bad having to kill it in the end. I mean I just came stumbling into it's territory like a bull in a china shop, and it was just trying to protect it's home."

"Yes, I can understand not taking enjoyment in your kill." Lucina nods. "Boars are living things, too. Honestly, I'd never trust anybody who enjoys killing. Only bad things can come from that."

"Thanks, Lucina." You smile.

"Hey! Look who's finally shown up!" Bragg grins.

You turn to see Simo arriving with Edwin and Sparky in tow, though they still had bandages in several spots. Apparently, their infirmary stay was so long because the medics were trying to conserve ragnaid.

"And I hope this teaches you why it's a bad idea to slip explosives into people's pockets, Sparky." Simo says in his lecturing tone. "And no, I don't care if you say your Uncle Vinnie did it all the time. I suspect he's not at all entirely sane."

"Fine." Sparky grumbles, but her expression quickly brightens when she realizes there's freshly cooked pork for dinner.

Edwin has an annoyed look as well, probably because he was stuck in a bed next to her for two entire days.

"Tough day?" You ask him.

"Honestly that girl is insufferable." Edwin sighs. "She doesn't behave in any way I can rationally predict."

"Yeah, Sparky is kinda like that." You shrug.

You briefly consider trying to prod Edwin to get to know Sparky better, but decide against it. After all, who were you to tell other people how to handle their romantic interests when you were in a romantic tangle yourself? However, there was one thing that was nagging at you...

"Hey Edwin, what exactly happened while you were in the infirmary with Sparky?" You ask.

"Okay! If it'll get you to be quiet!" Edwin groans. "That night, well, there was a hole in the mosquito net for Sparky's bed, and, you wouldn't know it, but Sparky is deathly afraid of bugs, especially the ones that bite."

"Really?" You gasp.

"Yeah, apparently." Edwin sighs. "So well, she starts getting hysterical, and I don't want her making a scene so I did the logical thing and offered to let her sleep with me in my bed because my net was intact."

"Oh. My. GOD." You burst out laughing. "How could you have not realized the implications of that?!"

"Like I said, I didn't want to make a scene." Edwin grunts, his face getting a bit red. "And there, I've told you what happened, so we will speak no more of it!"

"Okay, okay!" You grin.

"Oh, you shouldn't take it so bad." Lucina shrugs. "Me and Lucas used sleep together all the time."

At this point you almost spit out your drink. Damn you Lucina and your social blindness! Why did it have to strike now of all times?!

"Oh, that's something I'd have to keep in mind." Edwin grins.

"Truce?" You croak.

"Truce." Edwin nods.

After a bit more partying, the drinks and the pig slowly begin to dwindle. As the little dinner party dies down, Simo takes the moment to clear his throat and gather your attention.

"Okay Wraith Team, I got an announcement about our next mission." Simo says. That perks all of you up. "I got off the horn with San Salvacion Military Command, and they said that while intelligence was valuable, they would not officially sanction an incursion into Erusian territory."

"So, we're not going in?" Mary-Kate asks, a bit dejected.

"I didn't say that." Simo shakes his head. "You have to read between the lines. SSMCOM basically told me that we are free to send operatives into Erusea, but they will not be official sanctioned. That means if anybody is caught on the other side of the border, don't expect rescue, because San Salvacion, and by extension us, are going to pretend you don't exist."

"And you want us to go in anyways?" Morgan asks.

"I didn't say that either." Simo sighs. "Look, Wraiths, I want to get to the bottom of this rebel business as much as any of you, but I'm warning you that it's going to be incredibly dangerous if we try to carry this any farther. Now, I know Hudson and his team are skilled, but they're going to need all the help they can get. Due to the danger, I'm not going to order anybody to participate. It'll be volunteer only. But we also have to keep this unit small because we're aiming for stealth, not firepower. I'm only letting three or four people, and only the BEST and BRIGHTEST we got. We can't afford to screw up."

Charlotte hasn't gotten much time, and Sparky can double as demoman, which is what we really only need for this mission. Plus I'm enjoying all the times we get into someone else's head instead of Lucas all the time.

Jesus /tg/ the autism it hurts.

Also Edwin is now our BFF.

good god the samefagging is thick in here, Merc you really need to get in control of the voting, cause your current system sucks
>>
>>27497228
more like people samefagging to avoid waifuing.
>>
>>27497263

social interaction is not getting into someone's head and being them.

Also, current Edwin socialisation with anyone non-sparky/lucas is to look down on them and keep to himself. We're restricting interaction quite abit as he'll not be the first to initiate.

>ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL

You are now EDWIN HOHENZOLLERN, son of the famous Karla Hohenzollern and member of the Demons of Randgriz. You've just volunteered for a very dangerous scouting mission into enemy territory. Normally, your general strategy would be to avoid the overly dangerous assignments, but you feel that your performance hasn't been up to par in the past few weeks, and you needed a good way to prove yourself. Now was the time to do it, you believe.

You've got one day to prepare for the mission, and you have oh so much to do.

>Study Erusea's geography so you'll have an idea of where you're going and how to navigate it.
>Visit Nemo to try and obtain any upgrades if possible.
>Round up your other teammates and try to coordinate with Hudson on how to operate.
>Other
>>
>>27497314
welp, time for me to leave, let me know when this gets interesting again
>>
>>27497314

>>Round up your other teammates and try to coordinate with Hudson on how to operate.

NOW LETS COMPARE THE NUMBER OF VOTES.
>>
>>27497314
>Study Erusea's geography so you'll have an idea of where you're going and how to navigate it.

We need an escape route.

>>27497074
Actually, Merc, is it possible to get a perk for her that will allow her to perform the same duties as a fully trained demoman later on? I mean, the foundation is there right?
>>
>>27497314
>>Visit Nemo to try and obtain any upgrades if possible.
>>
>>27497330
>Actually, Merc, is it possible to get a perk for her that will allow her to perform the same duties as a fully trained demoman later on? I mean, the foundation is there right?

SHE IS A LANCER NOT AN ENGINEER FOR FUCKS SAKE
>>
>>27497314
>Study Erusea's geography so you'll have an idea of where you're going and how to navigate it.

If things get bad, it'll be good to know a few backdoors to get the hell out.
>>
>>27497312

Nah I mean more how everyone yells that your waifuing no matter what character you interact with.

Though I don't mind being Edwin just because he is pretty awesome.
>>
>>27497344

Yeeeees, which is why I mentioned it as a perk.

Besides, a fully trained backup demoman would be very useful.
>>
>>27497330
why the fuck would you want that, she is a lancer and should specialise as one instead of you trying to shoehorn her into a DEMOMANS and forgetting Falynn exists
>>
>>27497314
>>Study Erusea's geography so you'll have an idea of where you're going and how to navigate it.

>>27497357
You're treading dangerously close into special snowflake territory anon.
>>

>>27497357
>Backup
>For the price of one perk

Is reading comprehension foreign to you or something?
>>
>>27497356

Ah. To clarify I was more being sarcastic with the samefagging being rather obvious.

Hes ok. He'll need to loose the ice queen and spend more time with sparky to get awesome.
>>
>>27497357
well then why doesn't Lucas train in every single class including fencer?
>>
>>27497371
Special snowflake for being trained to more fully take advantage of preexisting skills related to one narrow field of another class?

I mean really?
>>
>>27497292
I'm honestly figuring that I'll just enact QM fiat if I suspect rampant samefagging.

Not quite sure how Shadow Quest handles it, unless you mean cutting off voting at 5 minutes.
>>
>>27497381
Oh my fucking God.

If you don't know the difference between that and what I'm suggesting, then you're a retard.
>>
>>27497388
rampant samefagging has happened on the last 3 votes Merc...

for the love of god look into how SQ handles its votes when this thread is done
>>
>>27497388

He has a very specific format.

>>Quote post number
[vote]
No formatting or reasons allow.

That triggers the 5 minute timeout for the exact same reply and any replies with extra stuff will be discounted.
>>
>>27497395
that is exactly what you sound like right now Mr special snowflake
>>
>>27497398
I did except i see no difference, unless 4chan handles linked, single number posts differently from other other posts.
>>
>>27497314
>Visit Nemo to try and obtain any upgrades if possible.
>>
>>27497371

The vast majority of special forces are special snowflakes according to /tg/. Discuss.
>>
>>27497410
Ah, well that explains it, then. The more you know, I guess.

I'm probably going to call a revote next thread anyways. Personally this thread is ending on kind of a sour note for me.
>>
>>27497417
all you need to do to get around the filter is change a single character, which is very easy when voting for names, but very hard when voting for a single digit number
>>
>>27497417
4chan has a longer delay for the exact same reply I think.
>>
>>27497413

How about instead of just randomly calling me a special snowflake dude, you back it up with an actual argument?

Because I'm hearing nothing but snowflakesnowflake and snowflake.
>>
>>27497398
How about you just tell him how its done instead of telling him to look at it?
>>
>>27497435

Sounds like it might be for the best merc.
>>
>>27497435

Might I suggest also having a time limit under the 5 minute timeout?

Say 4 minutes or so.
>>
>>27497314
You feel that you really can't be bothered going to to mingle with the others. If any of them were competent, and you hope they were, they'd be doing their own preparations for the mission not relying on you to do it for them. If there was one thing you hated more than incompetents, it was moochers.

Sighing, you take out one of your many maps of Erusea and begin to study its contents, focusing on the area Hudson is planning to explore.

>roll 1d20
>>
>>27497461

That's getting too narrow, not everyone is glued to their computer screens.
>>
>>27497380

I honestly kind of like the ice queen part. It really makes him and Lucas amusing when they are together and makes them a fairly effective duo.

Agreed with sparky though. Actually thinking on it Edwin never really explained how sparky reacted to the thing with the mosquito net being broken.
>>
>>27497435

If you do do so, also remember to specify how many ">" infront of the vote or something like "[x]"

> vs >>
or
[x] vs [X]

also won't trigger the lockout.
>>
>>27497442
someone already did but I'll do it anyway

QM posts the vote choice
>blah blah blah vote for:
>1 :blah blah
>2 :blah blah

voters respond with

>><link back to post>
><the number of the vote they are voting for>

no formatting, no reasoning or arguing, you have that before the vote

Pretty sure he said that she lost her shit.

Also, I'm just going to nip this in the bud right now. Potentials will in almost all cases be class specific. Sparky's demo expertise will translate into her being able to better use her lance to a greater effect by knowing her payloads and what they can do to take advantage of relevant weaknesses. I honestly have no desire letting characters multiclass because that defeats the point of having specialized classes in the first place.

If you wanted her to be demoman so badly then the original proposal should have made her an engineer. However, what's done is done, and we will speak no more on it.

It does for me nigger. I actually tested doing that if it is even 50 percent the same it locks you out. I would know because I had to change something after posting a part of something and it locked me out for like an hour.

>>
>>27497494

Kind of wonder if it is the embarrassed lost her shit or the "what the.." lost her shit. Either way it sounds utterly hilarious rereading it.
>>
>>27497511
You see that the area you're tasked with scouting has a lot of rivers and swampy areas, places that weren't very conducive for traveling on foot. However, as you consulted several older maps, you realize something. There used to be a large copper mine in the area that was abandoned years ago. If you were lucky, maybe some of the tunnels would lead to that supply base you were looking for?

It was worth a thought.

Perhaps this mission wouldn't be so suicidal after all.

>Okay, we're just going to end it here for tonight. I might run the next thread thursday evening, but definitely friday at the usual time. Check my twitter for updates.

Chin up merc.

Just part of what every QM runs into at some point of time.
>>
>>27497689

It's one bad bump, we'll get though it.

Frankly, I'm surprised it took so long for the issue to come to a head. It says something that people managed to behave this much for this quest.
>>
>>27497756

Waifus create such insane passions in people, don't they?
>>
>>27497776
Yeeep, both for and against.
>>
>>27497555
you know to be honest it's better people don't recklessly roll as in VMQ, many good throws were thrown away.

As far as the extra bad samefagging? I blame the usual source.
>>
>>27497832
That's not how probability works anon.

Still, even if we went with Falynn in the revote, our time was hardly wasted, knowledge of that copper mine is incredibly valuable for the upcoming mission.
>>
>>27497776

I always laugh at the anti-waifu vs the waifu crowd. Seems a little retarded to call each other faggots when the guys you are calling faggots will never change their mind anyway.
>>
>>27497852
>Implying the dice goddess follows mortal laws of probability
>>
>>27497689
Cheer up and just wait for heads to cool, I'm sure people will act more reasonably next thread.

Well, as reasonably /tg/ ever gets.
>>
>>27497565

A revote on Lucas/Edwin would be nice but wh, I'll roll with what we have.
>>
>>27498341
It's ok, if we play hyper aggressive with Edwin we can probably get him offed or sent back to an aid station for awhile.
>>
>>27498593
Now why the hell would we do that? VMQ2 is already going to be darker then VMQ1 starting off in the boonies, but we shouldn't go into to something trying to get someone killed or wounded. Dice gods will handle that

>>27498341
I agree with this but would rather not set a precedent and have become a normal thing, only when it this stupid.
