You grit your teeth against the sensation of your body being brute-forced to heal itself, a raking-over-hot-coals kind of pain that cored right into the heart and never stopped digging. But even the pain couldn't derail your thought process - that being, the person who helped you across the field wasn't seen by anyone. Not by Sayaka, not by your Vindicare Squad giving you overwatch.

...So she's that good a Callidus, huh? Better even than Enishi herself, who's the highest-ranking Callidus in your Officio?

You lift up a bloodied hand to your face, and absent-mindedly flex your blood-caked fingers. Trying to remember the particular degree of softness and warmth that they've been squeezing handfuls of moments before.

Soft. Like the softest sofa at the soft sofa store.
>>
>>27601345

"Well?" Sayaka's voice, forever edged by the ghost of impatience and a really bad temper mere inches away from exploding, snaps you back to the present. "You were saying, Murderface? Did you see anyone else with you back on that field, or what?"

Huh? Oh. ...No, you tell her. It was probably just a hallucination, or something. Blood loss and all. You're still feeling a bit light-headed yourself, in fact.

"Yeah?" The Blueberry behind you sounds suspicious, and you unconsciously brace for the sudden stab of a combat knife being shoved into your kidneys. Surprisingly, it doesn't come. "Well, just take it easy for a bit. You'll probably recover in ten, maybe twenty minutes, judging from how much you've lost."

...Sure. You'll do your best.

The Eversor grunts at your reply, but doesn't say anything else. A few moments later, and you feel the pain suddenly disappear, as if someone had flipped a switch inside you.

"Right, those are done." Sayaka gives your freshly-healed back a hearty, stinging slap, and you immediately flinch away at the impact, a hiss escaping from between your teeth. "That hurt? Good. It should. Pain's a good sign, means I managed to regenerate the nerves and shit right, too. Now turn a bit so I can get at the ones at your side."

You do so, and grunt as the pain brought from the healing flares up anew, in a different location. You puff just a bit more on the cigarillo you bummed off of Kyosuke, making sure to blow the smoke away from your impromptu medic.

"...Jesus Christ, Murderface. All your ribs are fucked on this side. Three of them actually punched into your lung here. Must have been one hell of a punch." You hear Sayaka click her tongue in disapproval. "Still..an Eversor fresh outta training could've blocked that. Easily."

Yeah, well, maybe she missed the fact that you're not exactly a crazy, pigsticker-wielding nutcase like her--

[1/2]
>>
>>27601345
Sasuga Chiaki. Knows her sofas.
>>
>>27601358

"I was going to say, right?" The Blueberry's sneer, clearly audible in her voice, is almost...well, comradely, in a way. "But if that's how you're going to be fighting like that most of the time, you should probably put the hours into Eversor training, then. So this kind of shit doesn't happen all the time, and on national television no less."

How do you respond?
>>
>>27601368

"Sounds like a good idea."
>>
>>27601368
"Yeah, I reckon I should probably get around to that at some point. Still, I did pretty well for a Vindicare forced into close combat and outnumbered three to one, eh?"

"How's everything going?"
>>
>>27601368
[x] "Don't worry about it so much. This fight had some extenuating circumstances after all. Plus, I needed to test out something. I'm not planning on a ton of close-combat in the future, but I guess more training never hurts."

"Sounds like you want an excuse to take a stab at me yourself."

And give a joking smirk. But yeah, we should agree to do it.

We have a bitching Golden DEagle and Powerfists woth Autocannon-Finger,s there is no reason what so ever to go into Melee again and its also not our style to act like Kharn.

Unless we happen to find a Golden Golfclub we should rely on the Weapons that are stored in our shield, including Explosives, cutting edge rocket tech, tanks, MIGs and maybe even a 6P62 if we want to ruin someone`s day thoroughly.

This will end terribly. If we want to use the sword, we probably need to wield it alongside another weapon whose influence can work to counter the muramasa's.

I wish I had been there for the last few threads, so I could have voted to yell "Yuu is a good girl" when Lucius called her corrupted.

>>
>>27601576

>>
>>27601576
I suspect we'd end up meeting Pinky and copping pieces of ourself off.

We already wanted to try a bite of Tagical Girl Tartare, and that was with a weapon we're on good terms with.
>>
I want to know what'll happen if we FOFA our Deagle.

Is there like, a mental copy of us inside the gun? Is that what drove Kirika mad, just a recursive loop of her own bloodlust between her and her golden ghost?
>>
>>27601576

Axes first says I.

If we activate the sword in a setting without anything to kill, I fear it may turn on us and try to get us to cut our own head off. Maybe in an interrogation room with one of the bomb girls.

We can always take all our golden toys to the next, rig mission. If the sword feels like it, we test both it and axes. If not, just axes.

Decu said it was a terrible idea to take all the weapons on the same mission. Hence why we put the axes and sword back in the cold room before we started this mission. We should get some FotFA exp with a weapon before we start mixing and matching with other weapons.

The only thing I don't really like about the bangles is that it's completely impossible to use other weapons with them.

With Muramasa, yes. It's like you've forgotten that Homura without her timestop is pretty middle tier and fuckers can easily get in melee with her.
>>
>>27601648
The way I see it, we're already fan-fucking-tastic at shooting things.
Unfortunately, because of reasons we cant always be shooting things.
And it just so happens that we have some amazing melee weapons just lying around, and the potential to improve our expertise in their use.
Theres not really much reason to not improve our skills, because no matter how hard we try, we will be in melee combat at some point in time.
>>
>>27601670

I also suggest a 1:4 ratio of hugs to headpats, so she can exchange her current half-hug for two headpats if she prefers that.

...Yeah. Sure. Why not? While you're not exactly looking forward to subjecting yourself to the kind of sadistic training Eversors go through - your brief, half-remembered taste of it with Kharn back at Siberia never failed to make you wince - but if it helps prevent you from making a mess of your costume and needing to be patched up after every encounter, then so be it.

Of course, it does kind of sound like she's trying to get a stab at you herself. You remark this as the blue-haired impromptu medic finishes the wounds on your side, before moving to the one at your front.

"Aw, fuck you, Murderface." Sayaka stops healing you just enough to punch you in the arm. "Dammit, I'm trying to be helpful here! I mean, yeah, you did look awesome with those huge robot fists earlier, but hobbling off the battlefield looking like this?" She pinches a handful of your costume and pulls, stretching the material soaked through with already-browning blood. "Look at this, it's like that girl in that movie where she gets pig blood dumped all over her during the prom. It's not hardcore at all, it's humiliating. Our Warmaster getting bloodied by three no-name Eversors is humiliating."

...What about Kharn? You're pretty sure she was seen covered in blood before.

"Yeah, but that's never her blood in most cases. Plus she wears black, so it's not as obvious if she got cut up or what." Sayaka seems oblivious to the fact that she's getting her own idol costume - the cream-colored, bridal gown-like costume you've seen her practice in - stained with your own blood as well.

"And do you remember how she always looked like covered in blood? Happy as a pig rolling in shit. You on the other hand always look like someone filled your heels WITH shit, and someone told you that you'd have to climb up Shit Mountain wearing them."

Alright, alright. You get it.

...Wait. Did she say you looked awesome?

"Don't get cocky." Sayaka snaps at you. "Yeah, it was pretty badass with the gunfingers and everything, but you let yourself get exposed a whole lot. You don't capitalize when you got them down for the count, you overextend..." She shakes her head, before gesturing at your side for emphasis. "That's why they managed to get those hits, because you were just begging for 'em. Including this one, and this is pretty much up front." She pokes your healed but still tender stomach, and you barely manage to force a moan of pain into a grunt. "So yeah, put in the hours. We need a Warmaster who can take care of herself."

Arlright already. You did say you'll put the hours in when you can.

"Yeah, sure." Sayaka smirks now, straightening up before sitting back down on the bench beside you. "I'll tell Mami-san too, so she can block it off on your schedule. That way, you can't say you forgot about it, or something."

Right. And Sayaka'll be training you, then?

"Who else? Kyouko?" The Blueberry frowns, here. "She'll just be too easy on you. I know how the two of you can all be buddy-buddy together, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it's gonna get her killed one day."

...And you, too, right? It's going to get you killed, too?

"Eh? Oh, yeah, of course." Sayaka nods. "But I don't give a shit about you, anyway, so it's not worth mentioning--OW, FUCK! THAT HURT, ASSHOLE!"

That hurt, 'Warmaster', you remind her, withdrawing your fist from her side.

You glare at each other for a few moments, before Sayaka breaks it with a quiet chuckle. You join in afterward, and the both of you let the muffled sound of the concert fill in the rest of the silence.

At the tell-tale break in the music that marked the end of a song - one followed by a rumble of applause - it's then that you ask about the suicide girls. How are they, anyway? You weren't listening too closely on the comms, earlier.

[2/3]
>>
>>27602104

"Tied up, unconscious, and guarded on gunpoint." Sayaka leans back, pulling off her blood-reddened gloves. "Karasawa gave Kyosuke's guys some of her own tranquilizers. Stuff designed to knock Magical Girls out, that kind of thing. She says it's her own recipe." The Blueberry shakes her head at this. "Gotta admit, if it weren't for the meatheads, taking them out would've taken much longer. I think we were pretty lucky that they weren't expecting that kind of security." She pauses, here, as if remembering something. "Oh, and we made sure to have their Soul Gems taken off of 'em, too, just in case any of them woke up and had the stupid idea to try and escape."

Huh. Well. That sounds pretty efficient. How'd she know they weren't expecting Kyosuke's men?

Sayaka turns to look at you as if you've just admitted that you're the basest breed of idiot. "Hello? Murderface, anybody home?" She raps her knuckles on your forehead. "They clearly didn't know how to react after getting choked and tranq'd from behind! Any Officio-trained Magical Girl would've let their training get 'em out of the chokehold and escape before the tranquilizertooko hold. I'm sure these girls are, too, but they probably were thinking too much about blowing themselves up to remember their training."

...Yeah. That's...that makes sense.

"Of course it does, idiot." Sayaka grumbles, shaking her head.

It's here that your smartphone suddenly vibrates in your inventory, loud enough for the Eversor beside you to hear.

"Get it. It's probably Kyoko, or something." The Blueberry lets out an exhausted-sounding sigh. "I'll just catch my breath for a while. Healing that kind of stuff kind of takes the wind out of me."

You excuse yourself with a murmured apology, one that Sayaka waves off, and you answer the call - holding up the device to your ear. This gets you, predictably, an earful of excited yelling from the other end.

"HOLY SHIT MURDERFACE! WHERE DID YOU LEARN HOW TO DO THAT?! HOW DID YOU GET SO AWESOME?!" Kyoko's energetic screaming makes you pull the gadget away from your ear, and earns you a snicker from Sayaka. "IS THAT WHAT TRAINING WITH KHARN GETS YOU? BECAUSE NOW I WANNA SPEND MY VACATION LEAVE IN SIBERIA TOO! HAHAHA!"

In the background, you could hear Midori unsuccessfully trying to tell Kyoko to relax and keep her voice down.

"O-OH, AND THE CONCERT WAS PRETTY COOL, TOO, I GUESS!"

How do you respond?

You tell Kyoko - after she'd finished shouting her head off - that you didn't really get much from your brief training with Kharn. Well, besides learning how to be beaten up like a chump, and that being slapped with a clawed skeletal hand made out of really hard metal shit hurts like a bitch.

"Hahaha! Well, that's pretty much the first thing you learn from her, anyway!" Kyoko seems to finally remember that telephone voices were actually a thing, and manages to talk in a volume that doesn't involve shouting into the mouthpiece. "Oh, you were using one of those crazy golden stuff that Kyuubey gave you your own armory in the Officio for, right?"

Yeah, you were. So she should know that it wasn't all you that was being awesome out there. ...In fact, it was probably you that got yourself stabbed. In front of live television, even.

"But you got stabbed in such a cool way, though!" Kyoko's enthusiasm here shows no sign of flagging at all, even if you yourself admitted just how much you suck. "You kept beating their faces in even when you had spears sticking out of you! That was PERFECT!" She giggles, here. "Aw, man, I wish I was there to see it in person! You're an awesome Warmaster, Murderface!"

You turn to glance at Sayaka - you know she heard that, Kyoko was talking loud enough for her to hear - and the blue-haired Eversor merely snorts at this, before turning away, grumbling.

You thank Kyoko for the compliment, anyway. Smirking all the while.

"No problem! Oh, Sayaka's there with you, yeah? I don't see her onstage, it's a solo number I think. She doing okay?"

You reply to the affirmative. In fact, she just finished healing you.

"Oh? Ah, let her rest for a bit, yeah, Murderface? She kinda gets woozy after healing people, so just let her sit for a bit and she'll be okay."

Huh, right. You didn't know that. Sure, you'll let her take it easy, too.

...By the way, how's their mission going, anyway? How's Midori?

[1/2]
>>
>>27603081

"Oh, hah!" It's here that Kyoko guffaws. "I was gonna brag about it when you got back, but I guess this is a good time as any! We--hey, wait, Midori! You told me I could tell her! Stop being--" Her voice gets cut off with a brief scuffle, and what sounds like Midori frantically pleading. You then hear Kyoko shushing her briefly, before replying clearly again. "Anyway, as I was saying before I got rudely interrupted by my JUNIOR here...we did it! We found the girl, she ran away from home to stay with her boyfriend, it looks like! And it's all thanks to MI-DO-RIN!"

You blink at this. Midori found the girl?

"Yeah! Remember how we interviewed some of her classmates and friends? Well, they were clammin' up when we asked them about her. I decided we should start askin' questions somewhere else, but she got the idea to mimic the girl an' try to see if she could cold-call 'em to spilling the beans. It worked out just fine - turns out the girl stole enough money for a chartered flight to meet her online boyfriend in Singapore! Hahaha!"

Oh. Hah. Well. The client must be mad to find that out, then.

"Oh, platinum mad!" Kyoko cackles here. "The maddest! Kyuubey got the cops to storm the boyfriend's house, and now they're both in police custody. Client's on his way now to pick her daughter up personally, and probably punch the dude out! But yeah, we probably would've spent a whole lot longer on this mission if not for Midorin! We finished it ahead of schedule too, so that's a bonus!"

It's...yeah, it's pretty impressive. Her first assignment and she accomplished it before the deadline.

"Oh, and before you tell me anything about being proud of her, you can tell her that tomorrow night!" Kyoko starts cackling louder, here, and you hear Midori trying desperately to get the phone from the red-haired Eversor. "Nah, I get to tell her! You're just gonna keep hedgin', she has to know!"

What? Tomorrow night? Tell her what?

Another brief scuffle, before Midori's voice finally comes on. "S-sempai! I...um...I'm sorry, please forget what Kyoko-san said! She was just making stuff up, a-and--" She gets cut off here by the Eversor loudly proclaiming about how she's totally not. "N-no! Sempai, please--"

You tell her to calm down, and relax. After a few moments, Midori manages to do so, although you can still hear the nervousness in her voice.

"Um. I...well, alright, Kyoko-san wasn't making that up. I was..." The Callidus' voice lowers a bit, as if sounding sulky for the first time. "I was planning this to be a surprise, and everything, but..." You hear her take a deep breath, as if bracing herself for something. You glance towards Sayaka, who seems to be idly scratching her stomach through her costume - the Eversor meeting your gaze and shrugging.

"Sempai, I...if you don't have anything planned tomorrow night, I'd...I'd like us to have dinner someplace. J-just...just the two of us, if that's possible...?"

...Tomorrow night. That's...uh.

Sometimes I wonder what sort of "flaws" you want to see in a character without being able to abuse the "edgy" meme. If anyone is mildly competent at shit they do and you don't like them, they're mary sues. Or "edgy" if they happen to have some problems in their lives.

>Internet Mami Defense Force
>>
>>27603956
I'd say she's pretty consistent with her original character, as portrayed in the anime and in the Different Story manga. She purposefully portrays herself that way because she's afraid of rejection if she shows her flaws. We've seen this to be true, she's hiding her golden weapon.

The adapted characters in this have gotten over most of their original conflicts. Sayaka and Kyouko's relationship is described as paradise, but that's character-defining in itself, and it's going to make it really tragic if something happens to one of them.
>>
>>27604023
She's known for being cold and calculating under her warm exterior and thinks nothing of making people do what she wants them to do. It's her internal monologue in Mamiquest part 1.

She also gets really upset when things don't go as planned: see the fallout of Kirika's arc. Bitch stabbed her in the chest and she still hated Murderface for doing what needed to be done.
>>

I'd like to see her get angry or irritated or SOMETHING. The fact of the matter is that, no matter what happens, Mami has been a perfect beacon of light in Chiaki's life.

People aren't like that, though. They make mistakes, or snap at you. Not Mami, though. She's been an untouchable goddess of pancakes since day one, and it grates on my nerves.

Chiaki: Bunch of flaws, both from her backstory and anon control swinging her sometimes into bipolar forgetful douche territory.
Sayaka: Moody jerkass
Kyouko: Glutton, a bit dim/impulsive
Midori: Moeblob pervy stalker
Wendy: Moody, crazy
Pinky: REALLY crazy
Kharn: Like Kyouko but crazy and kind of evil
Mami: Others have summed it up better than I
>>

>>27604094
We were shown her true self in Mami quest specifically because it's hard to show in the main quest, because Chiaki has a giant hero worship/mother boner for Mami. It's due to an unreliable narrator if anything.

Yeah. Sure. Dinner tomorrow night sounds great, you reply. You'll be there.

"Um, I...I know this is really short notice, sempai, so if you have anything planned, that's okay, I--" Midori nervously continues to ramble on, clearly trying to fill a perceived gap in the conversation - until your words finally sink in, and she stops dead in her tracks. "W-wait, you said yes? Sempai, you...do you want to go out to dinner with me...? T-tomorrow night?"

...Well, she did say tomorrow night, right? Of course, Midori still has to tell you the exact time and place, but other than that, you're pretty sure you said yes.

There's absolute silence on the other end, before a sharp clattering noise cracks loudly from your phone's speaker like a gunshot, very nearly making you drop the device. The moment you put it back against your ear is when you hear Midori shrieking in a panic, and Kyoko angrily scolding the Callidus about dropping shit that isn't hers, and how Sayaka bought her the phone. More hushed conversation, and Kyoko scolding Midori some more, before you're finally addressed by the red-haired Culexus again.

"Geh. Good thing I got the ruggedized case for this thing, otherwise this'd be in pieces right about now." Kyoko grumbles. "Anyway, Murderface! Midori just ran into the girl's room to calm down, probably to cry it out or puke or something, I dunno." She chuckles here. "She says thanks for accepting her invitation, an' she'll send you the exact details of when and where."

Ah. Right. That's fine, then.

"...She's really got it bad for you, ya know, Murderface?" Kyoko's voice lowers a tad, which, for someone naturally loud and boisterous, is like someone claustrophobic willingly sealing himself into his own coffin. "It's...well, it's kinda like with you and Iori, you know? But I guess a bit more fangirly? That's what I'm getting, anyway."

Fangirly, huh?

[1/2]
>>
>>27604199

There's a moment of silence here, as Kyoko seems to catch on. "Well, uh, I don't really know what happened back in Siberia, since you guys were together then, but..." Another pause, before the Eversor continues. "Anyway, I'm pretty sure ya know what you're doin'. We're just finishing up here at the client's office, pick up the release and feedback forms from his secretary and stuff, and then we'll be heading back to HQ to report to the boss. Midorin'll be back in your apartment in two hours, tops."

You acknowledge this, and thank her for taking care of Midori for her first assignment. And it seems like she never set your Callidus on fire, too.

"Eh? Oh, don't mention it. I did promise, right?" Kyoko's grin is clearly audible in her voice, now. "And yeah, that's a bit disappointing, isn't it? There's always next time, though! Ahahaha!"

Ha, ha. Very funny.

"Never gets old!" Kyoko grins. "Ah, right, have to go, else my minutes are gonna run out. See ya, Murderface!"

You say goodbye here, and end the call. You shake your head at the conversation, looking down at the screen.

"Midori finally asked you out?" Sayaka pipes up beside you. "Took her long enough, really."

You blink at her. What? Sayaka knew about that...? About Midori?

Sayaka's scowl is enough to melt carbonite, and the unfortunate space smuggler encased inside it. "What, do you think I'm blind, Murderface? I've seen her look at you, for fuck's sake! And the entire Officio's talking about how the Warmaster bought a no-name, green-haired Callidus the fucking Waifu Set for lunch!"

[2/3]
>>
Mami is actively hiding any negative aspect of her personality though. Hell, I used to do this myself and it's very consistent with her character.
She has proved to be less than perfect though, she was the person that warned Kirika we were after her after all.
>>
>>27604219

"Of course I fucking know--" Sayaka starts, but takes a deep breath, to calm herself down. "Look, it's none of my business, but I'll tell you all the same to be careful, alright?" She glares at you. "Iori's still infatuated with you. She literally froze on the spot when she saw you get speared in the back, before Ruri jolted her out of it by switching numbers and getting her into singing a solo." It's here that the blue-haired Eversor's eyes narrow. "And if I find out you're trying to start a harem like Kharn, Murderface--"

Yeah, yeah. She'll gut you like a fish.

"...How'd you know I was going to say that?"

Well, aren't you supposed to be training to be more Eversor-like? You just started thinking about what a crazy Eversor would actually say.

"Smartass!"

What do you now?

You excuse yourself again - and Sayaka waves you off again - as you make a call of your own, this time to Mami. You did say yes to Midori taking you out to dinner tomorrow night, so...it follows that you have to reschedule with the blonde.

...It's...Mami wouldn't mind, right? She'd understand. Midori didn't mean to pick the same date and time as Mami to ask you out. And...it just didn't feel right to say no to Midori. She did save you, after all. Risking her life far too many times to save yours, in an overlapping hellscape of insanity and despair.

Mami would understand. She would. She's Mami.

You tap at your phone's screen to engage the call, taking a deep breath and holding it up to your ear once more. Mentally bracing yourself, to tell Mami that you've decided to go eat dinner with someone else other than her.

Mami's phone rings once, twice, three times, before she picks up. When she does, her voice is the same as it's always been - pleasant, warm, just like honey.

Or pancake syrup.

Yeah.

"Ah, Chiaki-san?" She sounds...well, surprised, of all things. "Is the concert over already? How is the mission going?"

You blink at this. No, the concert's not over yet, but the mission's going fine. You managed to capture the entire hostile group that tried to get you - and your principal - killed, as well as save the Soul Gem of one of your Vindicare squad. You're just taking a breather at the moment."

"Oh, congratulations, Chiaki-san! Very well done - I knew you could do it!" You can hear her smiling beautifully over the line. "There was no doubt in my mind that you'd do wonderfully in your first mission as Warmaster!"

[1/2]
>>
>>27605230

You couldn't help but feel a flush of pleasure at her praise, here. Yeah, Sayaka was rather gruff and curt about it, while Kyoko was out-and-out MAXIMUM VOLUME, but for it to come from Mami, well...you're pretty happy to hear her approve, is what you're getting at here.

...Wait, she didn't see you fight? Wasn't she watching?

"Ah. Hee." Mami giggles here, guiltily, as if you've caught her using unicorn blood to make her pancakes. "Ah, sorry, Chiaki-san! I know a lot of the girls here are watching from the assembly room downstairs, but I stepped out just after I had Kyuubey-san pass you my message." She seems to hesitate, here. "I find it hard to watch Magical Girls fight, especially...especially when the fight involves people I know and care about." A light, if awkward laugh. "It's strange, isn't it? I've never balked from a fight when I was still on active duty, myself, but..."

...No. No, it's not weird at all, you tell her. It's...you can understand where she's coming from, at least. You doubt you'd want her to see how you look like now, anyway.

"I don't mean it like that, Chiaki-san." Mami chides you slightly. "Ah! Since you did a good job, we'll have that dinner tomorrow, just like I promised! And I'll be sure to make things extra special - it'll be a dinner you'll never forget!"

...It seems Mami is also set on the dinner for tomorrow night.

How do you let her know that you're rescheduling?

“Clean the arena please! We don’t want any unbalanced matches due to someone slipping on the blood!”

I wish I could see the announcer to ask why that was really necessary. Yes, there was blood and gore everywhere, but honestly, most girls here are used to fighting while covered in blood. If I’m one of the least violent ones here and I’m used to it, there shouldn’t be a problem. Hell, I’m pretty sure someone has made their own fighting style that takes advantage of the blood on the ground.

Well, that would completely defeat my point wouldn’t it?

Still, the tournament continues. The fights get harder, the audience gets more pleased and the only disappointed ones are the girls who lost. Only rookies got into the tournament anyway, so there’s always time for improvement on their part. They just get to know what they’re doing wrong first hand. Lessons by death; Eightballs’ favorite style.

We are right now at the semi-finals after that last match, and I’m honestly surprised I’ve gotten this far. Considering how ruthless of a reputation our offircio has compared to others, I’m left wondering where the novice murder monsters are. Well, Sami has been doing particularly well in that regard; she’s got this far too. I think there’s another Eversor and a Callidus along with us two, so it should be an interesting night for the both of us.

Despite this achievement, I don’t think I’m all that keen about winning the entire thing. I know I have a reputation for some things I’ve done, including the museum fight, but when a girl gets renown for dangerous acts and doesn’t like being talked to, the rep can turn sour.

The people who hosted this tournament wanted to bring out the monsters in us all, to pick and pry apart at the weak. I’m not here to win, I’m here to show that I’m sane.

Oh god, brace for impact.

“Gina! I’m proud of you!” My world almost spins around as I’m put into a certain someone’s gracious chest with little means of escape. Well, I could harm her but it wouldn’t be the wisest decision.

“Hi, Izzy. I see you’ve found me.” It takes a while to part myself from her; needing to get out any loose strands of her long lavender hair out of the way along with freeing myself from her arms. “I didn’t think you would be one to be a spectator for violence.”

“I’m here for you guys! I didn’t think you’d go for something like this. You and Sami are always surprising me!” She states with a cheery grin, always with her eyes either closed or open a sliver.

“I think you’re just underestimating how much there’s left in us.”

“Well, you did get this far! I can already imagine you on a poster in the wall, with the text saying ‘beware the reclusive cute, monster of the ring, future savior of the eighth!”

And it’s these comments that just…

“YAY! New announcement everyones!” The squeaky announcer comes again which interrupts my attempt to talk back at Izzy. “First place winner gets a super-special extra prize! But~, we’re keeping it unknown until you win! So keep fightin’ hard girls, a secret awaits the best of the best!”

“Well things just got interesting.” I turn away from her and look to the arena. “Wonder if this is going to impede her performance.”

“I’m sure Sami won’t mind some extra sugar here!” That’s Izzy, constantly bringing up points about other people they don’t want told. One of the oldest – yet one of the less mature – Vindicares, she took an eye to me and Sami when we wanted to go on our own paths, semi-thwarting us. At least I can manage her presence more then her.

Sami herself is next in line, going up against another Eversor. Apparently her opponent also has a tendency to be flashy during combat and try to end it quickly, only with a bit more flair. Sami walks up to the arena to view her-

Oh hey, it IS Megan from earlier. Long orange hair, orange eyes too, set in her uniform which takes on the royal, European princess style that looks hugely overdone on the frills and red curly lines over its orange base. She has… some kind of container attached to her back that’s held on by a red strap over her uniform. Her weapon, probably, but what is it?

Both are set at opposite sides of the ring. Even if Sami has the same intentions as me, she looks different, somehow. Maybe she does want to win for some reason. Megan, on the other hand, isn’t looking at the prize. She has that look the superiors are looking for.

She’s looking for blood.

“Three, two, one, fight!”

>>

It was like watching two animals try to intimidate each other out of the fight. Sami did her usual trick, but Megan quickly pulled out her weapon from its container and… whipped it around. It’s a whip… a metal whip. My mistake, a SPIKED, CHAIN-LINK WHIP that’s about…how long? Is it rotating too?

Whatever fear was in Sami has vanished; replaced with a fierce determination. If she wants to prove herself better than a bloodthirsty killer, this is her chance. Then again, neither of us knows Megan, so there’s no telling what she’s really after.

Maybe she’s also just putting up a show, wanting the higher-ups to look down upon her and smile.

They stand at a standstill, with both of their tools of destruction hovering and flailing around until Sami decides to take the first strike with two strings of ribbon, and then the fireworks start. With each blow Sami tries to make, Megan whips accordingly and shreds anything that gets too close while slowly advancing, closing the distance between the two. Electric sparks fly out from the impact as pieces of red cloth slowly fall down and disintegrate before they hit the ground.

Realization hits her that this isn’t going to work, and she presses four ribbons down to launch herself into the air, keeping herself up with the balance between the beams. She changes from sweeping strikes to direct attacks from above, charging each piece downward to impale Megan below. She tries to dodge, but more keep coming until one grazes her shoulder. Taking the chances she jumps high and whips upward, ripping off the next ribbon headed for her and wrapping the spiked chain tightly around Sami.

With her in command, Megan slams her down on the floor, dragging the ribbons with her which cut into her sides and almost making her drop the whip. Then, as if she’s done it a thousand times, Megan twists the handle on the whip, pulls it to one side and-

Stops. Sami starts screaming as she sees the chain of metal try to turn, meeting the resistance of her ribbons going in the opposite direction. I can see Izzy at my side muttering something under her breath, her completely open and focusing on the fight, almost giving a death glare. It’s the reason she doesn’t always have her eyes open; she can quickly turn from playful and childish to dead-serious and gritty in a flash, and when she gets serious… well, I’ve only seen it once so far, but it was pretty gruesome.

Megan whips the chain and causes Sami to loose her breath with what I assume were electric shocks. The ribbons also spas out, loosening their grip on the chain which gives Megan the sudden advantage. Attempting again, she grips tightly, pulls to one side…

I reflexively covered my eyes with my arm, but the blood only got so far as the first row of spectators.

After a terrible cry of metal against flesh and bone, I lowered my arm to see… I could barely tell it was Sami anymore save for her intact head. Everything from her chest to her thighs were shredded open like a bomb was planted in her stomach. Blood and bones were flung everywhere, her rib cage had two bones misplaced somewhere on the arena floor and her intestines began to drop down.

“Ladies!” Megan calls out, turning to the audience with her hands high like a magician performing on stage. “I give you, the Shredifier!” Her proclamation bounces off the walls as Sami falls into a lifeless heap on the floor. The crowd roars in excitement.

Two things are keeping me from going to Megan and putting her down: I’ve done the exact thing to other people before, and Sami will come back from this. Oh, and a third: I can get my revenge in the finals, if I win.

(5/11)
>>
>>27605759
“…Oh, you’re not going up?” Izzy asks with a confused expression. I turn to her, smile and shake my head.

“Last time I ran to the defense of a friend, it didn’t end well. I know my own control.” I look back to the stage where Megan gets the cheers as she walks off the stage, already being cleaned for my next fight.

“Besides, I can just kick her ass later.”

“The Eversor fight is over!” The announcer kicks in “Time for the Callidus fight!”

The Callidus I get to fight was the winner of the last quarter-final match that was postponed due to an “emergency” on her opponents’ part. Normally the tournament keeps it so that a MG only fights one match per day of the tourney, but the exception was made for her. Still, doesn’t mean I can just think she’ll be weaker because she already fought today. It would be… unwise to think that of a Callidus.

Izzy gives me her best wishes as I head up to the arena to fight the other MG. Her dress starts as white then turns blue as it goes down in a regular dress that only goes to mini-skirt length. A rapier sword is her preferred weapon: they’re the ones with the circular handles that hold an extremely thin but sharp blade.

I swear if I ever get called a nerd for something, it will be my knowledge of weapons.

We both ready ourselves for the fight, and I can tell she’s eager. I feel like I’m the only fighter left who doesn’t want to bathe in the blood of my opponent. I’m just fighting to –not- die.

“Three, two, one, fight!”

FUCK SHE’S FAST.

(6/11)
>>
>>27605783
She wants to slice and dice; quick strikes and avoiding power struggles until I’m worn down enough to not fight back efficiently. Knowing how… iffy my stamina can be, I’ll need to finish this quick, if I can manage to find a way to make her stop attacking. I can’t parry with the mace forever.

Her blade manages to get past my mace once and nick my arm, leaving a deep scratch on the right. The pain boils, and once I manage to stop her blade between the maces slits, I manage to fly a bolt right at her, knocking her back. When she gets back her footing, she takes a deep breath, raises her sword to the sky and stabs the ground.

Great, time for magic.

White grid marks cover the entire floor from the point of impact. She raises her sword as a column raises her into the air as my feet began to shift under moving ground. I bolt out of my last position as a wave of magic follows behind me, rippling across the floor and making the surface spike. It’s like a real life version of recording sound waves from music.

Shielding myself first, I jump and slam the hammer as hard as I can to… no avail. She controls the battle field now, including the tower she’s perched herself on and the wave coming behind me.

I have an idea but it’s probably stupid. Oh well.

The pillar doesn’t even budge as I kick off of it into the wave. Using the upward force from the wave as it crashes into the column I manage enough height to reach the top to find her waiting for me. She immediately tries to slash upward at me, but her blade screeches across the shield. It reaches it limit point and explodes, sending her off balance enough for me to get one good hit in her chest. The entire pillar collapses as we both fall to the floor, with the force of the hit sending her back. Cheers coming from the crowd are muffed through the combat, which get louder when I throw my hammer at her which connects nicely with her head and then vanishes.
>>
>>27605805
She scrambles to her feet, her sword still clutched in her hand and glowing. Sure, at this level of fighting a few broken ribs and a cracked skull don’t mean much when you have magic. But when she looks at me again I can tell she just wants me dead right now. Using the elevation trick again, she pushes herself off of a wall and sprints at me. I raise my right arm to-

…block with the hammer which spawned in my left hand.

There’s a certain amount of gag reflex one has to sounds, and I’m sure the parting of skin as her blade drove itself through my entire arm, end to end, would make any normal being part.

We, at least, are magical girls. I still heard some screams in the audience, though.

Fucking. Shit. This pain…

It’s Been A While.

I think it’s the fastest punch I pulled off for myself; my left hand going straight for her jaw. Her hand left the handle, keeping the damn sword in-

Why Don’t We Make Them Remember?

She flies to the other end of the arena, collapsing near the edge as her fingers drag along the floor to stop herself. It’s a slow walk over to her, the mace in one hand and the sword still stuck and-

We’ve Always Had That Power.

The mace drops to the floor. I don’t need it for what I need to do. Left hand grips the handle stuck in the right as I feel that power spike coming again.

“So Let’s Bring The Pain.”

One swift motion. One burst of power. The sword flies free from my arm as the tissue and blood lost are vacuumed back in. I stand blazing grey-blue, seeing the fear in her eyes.

Eightball was right; they don’t know what they’re looking at.

I can feel it spiraling down my arms, gathering in my palms, swirling into a mesh of power. As it readies, the words fall out of my mouth so naturally.

“Kamehameha, bitch.”

One bolt was all it took to completely knock her unconscious. Two killed her outright. Three shattered the ground she was under. The last was contained within a punch that sent her through the arena, crashing on the concrete down below, splattering her everywhere.

The crowd was silent for a while, then erupted in cheers and I descended the arena stairs and headed my way out.

Nobody really needs to know what they looked at; all they need to know is that it works.

“Damn. The hell happened in there?”

Just outside the building I’m greeted by the previous victor in more casual clothes. Hands in her jean pockets, she looks very relaxed for someone who had to fight for her life a few minutes prior.

“I don’t think you –really- want to know.” Walking it off doesn’t help as Megan just tags along with me.

“Aw come on, what happened to sportsmanship?” She opens a can of soda and drinks a good amount before speaking again. “Ya know, you’re not really that popular. Sure you made a good opening impression with that whole museum thing, but if you can’t keep up the show nobody’s going to respect you. Me on the other hand…” Yawning behind me, I turn my head and stop to see her stretching. “Once I knew I was a fan-favorite, I kept it up. The audience will be with me when we fight.”

“You seem too calm about this.”

“Huh? Yea, I get that.” She strides ahead of me, turning around and bowing. “That’s Megan Ashwood for you. I fight for battle, not blood.”

“So we do have something in common.” I walk past her, heading to where Sami would be restored. “We don’t fight for spilling blood.”

“I like to be challenged.” She states walking back up to me. “Which brings me to you.”

We stop and look at each other at the same time. She’s a bit taller then me, but it’s not enough to make it evident in combat. Maybe around my age, give or take a year. Her facial scars, however slight, show she’s been in combat for a long time since she was put in, possibly fighting before she was even admitted.

“I have no idea what to expect from you at all.” She states blankly as I chuckle and grin.

“Good, I’d like to keep it that way. Makes better fights.”

(10/11)
>>
>>27605909
She left me alone after that as I made my way to the building. I get a few cheers of congratulations, or of the “you totally kicked her ass!” kind. While nice, too much attention does get annoying. It stops once I get to the elevator and change floors, the other girls inside seemingly on their own business.

I hope I don’t get as bad as them; they seem way too focused on what their jobs are. We are magical girls, with girls being a part of it. It’s good to take a break and remind ourselves of who we are, or at least used to be.

When I got to Sami she was making sure everything was still working. Flexing and bending her arms, hands, legs and ribbons.

“So, how was death?”

“Didn’t like it.”

“Well duh. I was wondering what it felt like.” I have yet to actually die during a mission or otherwise, so I want to be ready whenever it might happen. Or just incase I loose tomorrow.

“It’s like fainting, but worse.” She starts. “Energy quickly leaves your body, pain deafens your thoughts and your muscles tense before dropping your body.”

“Great. Something to look forward to. Least it’s not as bad for being… well, us.” A chuckle from both of us was followed by silence until she spoke up again.

“I hope you think this will be all worth it in the end. Lots of girls don’t.”

“I know that.” I reply with a grin. “I’m sure both of us have a long way to go to be satisfied, though.”

She smiled lightly at that. The end is all that some see, not the distance. For now, at least the two of us can go far before we reach the end, because that’s all that matters.

Is there a preferred email address, or is it still the one you've posted in the threads before?
>>
>>27606126
Think it's the same one he's posted before.

If you give /tg/ waifus, they're going to take them.

This.

Look out the howling we're getting from Mami even _appearing_ that she's not a selectable waifu option. It's certainly not the hat's fault. lol

Guess I better look for an editor then. Decu's too busy to really be one.

Something related to older things, but I'm curious.
What's the rank of magical girls focusing on magic attacks like Ahriman?
And what did Kharn use during her time as Vindicare, did she already have her fleshmetal and Skulltaker by then or do we have to ask her ourselves sometime?

Decupyon's shipped off, unfortunately. Sorry.

Aw, gotta try some other time then. Not running away.

Wendy was mentioned to be a callidus and she doesn't use stealth as much as she uses summoning etc so I think that is generally what caster types are called

Nah, Wendy is a proper stealth-flavored Callidus, just not particularly an illusionist. She still has a standard understanding of their techniques and her own ways of carrying out heavy stealth missions, but is more of an assassin than a support unit.

Reasonably sure casters like Ahriman are still Vindicares, but don't quote me.

So why would Mami be all over Wendy if she knew Wendy was there?
>>
>>27606675
My thoughts should turn to violence but for some reason they are stuck on lewd. Let's hope next thread is properly chaste.

Cat Effect.

It's a nod to Mister Sir Henry Motherfucker Cooldown. Pretty sure it started as a joke and stuck. ...Lots of things start as jokes.
>>
>>27606749
Okay so now I need to bug a drawfag to do us a picture of cat effect Wendy with Mami petting her thanks to you
>>

Fuck, forgot name.
Pointless polite sage is pointless.
